This location is a bit remote but totally worth it. A stream runs by the property, a lot of jackfruits around, a small checkdam-waterfall at walking distance and further ahead some beautiful viewpoints. Locals are friendly, a young couple helped us to checkin and an uncle guided us to a viewpoint. Vivin is really kind, he coordinated everything through phone. We were lucky to have booked Sibi's cab from Kochi because they both communicated seamlessly in Malayalam and took us to lesser known sightseeing places. He got things arranged pretty well. Vivin also offered us homegrown fruits and jackfruits, his mom Sophie aunty was super warm and kind to us. This is not a commercial luxurious resort, this is a proper house where you get to experience how locals live, first hand. Different experience, totally worth it. Our stay in Marayur was absolute bliss — a truly grounding experience. At first, my wife was a little skeptical about potential bug bites, given the open-to-nature setting. But the mudhouse was thoughtfully built — sustainable yet surprisingly comfortable — offering the perfect blend of nature and ease. The caretakers, Latha Chechy and Sony Chettan, were incredibly helpful and always just a call away for anything we needed. Host Deepu was warm, welcoming, and highly attentive to our needs. Though it was meant to be just a mid-stop on our road trip, we genuinely felt like staying a bit longer. Despite having no air conditioning, the mudhouse cooled down beautifully in the evenings, and not once did we feel hot or humid — a delightful surprise! The food was another highlight: a great variety with authentic flavors that truly satisfied. We’ll definitely be visiting again!

The stay was scenic, offbeat and perfect! Divya even helped us to arrange for the cab driver, who was warm, friendly and accommodative. Made things easier while traveling with family. Many spots/activites are available nearby spotting elephants, waterfalls, elephant ride, zip line,view points (kottapara was our favourite) Food arrangments were exquisite! Freshly prepared and tasty! My personal favourite was veg stew and idiyappam. Overall, a stay with value for money! Go for it!

We had a wonderful stay at Varun and Oolaga's place. The place is squeaky clean, hosts are super responsive and we had some of the best time of our lives munching on the delectables that came from their kitchen. Both of them are very passionate about everything, right from the place they have setup till the food they cook for their guests. They have put so much of thought behind everything - right from making their place sustainable for an eco-friendly living till putting small stickers beside switches to make their guests understand which switch is for what. Considering they had no help during the time of our stay, we were so lucky to have them as our hosts, as they must have spent an eternity just cooking for us and providing for our requests. The walks with Velu uncle were really enjoyable as well, just loved his enthusiasm! Note to future guests: Do communicate with your hosts beforehand on how to reach. The directions showed by Google can be misleading.
