A luxury self-catering holiday cottage nestled on the edge of the North York Moors National Park in the pretty village of Ampleforth. The Owlets is a 19th century single storey stone outhouse that has been recently renovated to a high standard with brand new fixtures and fittings, as well as traditional features such as solid oak floors and beams. We are located just 1 mile from Ampleforth College, and 4 miles from Helmsley. All welcome, including children and well behaved pets!
“Anna & Reece’s cottage is everything you could want & more for a relaxing stay in the peaceful countryside. We arrived late in the evening unexpectedly thanks to traffic. But yet we were still greeted by a very welcoming Reece, who had popped the heating on for us ready for our arrival which was very much appreciated after a long cold drive. Inside is the most immaculately sparkling clean cottage, but still has a very cosy feel to it. We had all the amenities we could have possibly needed and more. Outside the cottage are plenty of countryside walks, Reece also recommended a nearby pub which served excellent food. You are also in driving distance of York. We couldn’t recommend The Owlets more, and we will definitely be back to stay again!”
Ford End B&B is a private Annexe with its own entrance. The stone-built 18th century accommodation is at the edge of a pretty, hillside village a short walk from two excellent pubs. Located on the edge of the North York Moors National Park & Howardian Hills AONB the area is lovely for walks. Alternatively, a short drive to market towns Helmsley, Malton or 20 miles to York. We're also near historic sites: Byland Abbey, Helmsley Castle, Rievaulx Abbey, Castle Howard. A well-behaved dog is welcome!
“Lovely space, actually bigger than it looks on the photographs in the listing. Perfect for a short stay in the area. We had two dogs and it worked out fine. Lucy was friendly and welcoming and was happy to answer questions. Would stay again.”
Come and stay in our small but perfectly-formed guest space! It's completely separate from the main cottage, so you have privacy and can come and go as you please. It's warm and cosy and luxurious, and the en-suite offers a wonderful shower! And breakfast is included.
“Thanks to James for having us! This is a great little Annex close by to the national parks for those with cars! Great spot to catch some sleep. There are lots of lovely (but expensive) local restaurants/pubs to try out - around 5-10 minutes drive down country lanes. Breakfast is provided in the room - cereals, teas, coffees and delicious home-made bread which can be warmed up in the mini-oven. However, other meals are not provided/no space for cooking as kitchen access isn't available. Perfect though if you're keen to check out the local spots, and feeling cosy and cottage-y. Thanks again for having us!”
