Secluded, historic cottage next to Monzie Castle

Built in 1874 for the head gardener of Monzie Castle and located at the end of the castle garden. This characterful 2 bedroom cottage (listed in The Times top 50 cottages) is furnished to a high standard. One-bed flat with a lovely park view

Our one bed flat is in the centre of the village of Balloch, Loch Lomond, known as the gateway to the north. Both the train station and bus station are only a few minutes walk away and nearby numerous walking, climbing and hiking trails. The cultural venues in the cities of Glasgow and Stirling are approximately 30-40 minutes by car. There is a free carpark across the road from the apartment. The apartment is on the second floor above the shops, cafes and bars in the centre of the village.

Watermill Nook is set on the grounds of our charming former working Listed Watermill and is a romantic, cosy cabin ideal for guests who want to relax and unwind. The beautiful, fairy lit, private woodland garden set high above the River Mar is a special place in which to immerse yourself in nature, birdsong and the blissful sounds of the babbling river. As dusk falls, cosy up around the firepit or light the cabin wood burner, planning your next adventure exploring fabulous Loch Lomond.

We built our cabin next door to our house. In an old quarry in Bonhill. Loch lomond is a 5min drive away. The cabin has one bedroom with king size bed. A fully equipped kitchen, sitting room with sofa bed, foldaway dining table and chairs. A log burner. Guests will have their own parking area. A decking area with table and chairs. There are some lovely places to walk. Ben lomond. Ben A’an. Conic Hill. The cobbler. Luss village. The cycle path is close by. It runs alongside Loch Lomond.

We are situated 0.5 miles from Loch Lomond Shores and less than a 2 minute walk from Balloch Train Station. We are surrounded with a variety of contemporary restaurants and shops all being within a few minutes walk. Within our premises we provide free on site parking and BT Wifi.

Enjoy Oakdene Cottage and its great views with hosts next door. Dog friendly with nearly an acre of established garden and space to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of the area whilst being relatively close to Glasgow with good connections and only ~50 minutes from Glasgow Airport. Please bear in mind that there are steps up to up access the cottage from either door: thus, if you have reduced mobility, sadly, Oakdene may not be for you.
