The hideaway is ideal for short breaks in beautiful countryside. It has: its own entrance so guests can come and go as they please; a super kingsized bed; ensuite shower room, and a kitchenette for guests to prepare their own breakfast (basics provided, including free range eggs). We are: a short walk from the fabulous Three Horseshoes pub; three miles from Bruton and Hauser and Wirth's gallery, four miles from the Bath and West Show Grounds; and seven miles from Glastonbury Festival's site.
The Hideaway is a large studio room with super kingsize bed , small sofa, log burner, kitchenette, en-suite shower room and its own entrance through a gate and up some stone steps (fairly steep). It is newly refurbished , clean and comfortable. The kitchenette is perfect for preparing breakfast or simple meals (Please note there is a double hob but no oven. We will provide tea, coffee, milk, local free range eggs, bread, butter etc. We will provide a basket of logs for this and give instructions on its safe use upon arrival (These are also detailed in the Hideaway guide book). The shower is powerful and refreshing but hot water is not unlimited so we kindly request that showers are kept to a reasonable length. Cot available upon request. (No TV)
Batcombe and the surrounding area sit peacefully in stunningly beautiful countryside. There are lots of lovely walks! We are within a short walk of the church, the fabulous pub and Penny Square Barn (A popular wedding and party venue). Bruton (including Hauser and Wirth Gallery and The Roth Bar are a short drive away, as is the Bath and West Show grounds. We are also only about 30 minute drive from Longleat and Haynes Motor Museum. Bath is 45-50 minutes away.
  • We had a super relaxed and comfortable stay at The Hideaway. Bob met us on arrival and helped us park on site. We were then welcomed into the flat by a roaring fire and a cupboard full of thoughtful items like tea, coffee, bread, milk and eggs which meant we didn’t have to rush out and source essentials for the morning. The location was great with a nice, cozy pub and pretty village a short walk away and we visited the amazing Wild Beer brewery and Westcombe Dairy around a 15 min walk away. The bed was very, very comfy and the shower nice and powerful and hot. It was a wonderfully clean and welcoming stay and we could have easily stayed longer.

  • Fantastic stay. Highly recommended

  • This was our first Airbnb experience, and we were doing it with a 3 week old baby for a family wedding, but it was so easy staying here. Instant tranquility and we were very much left alone but knew we could ask Jessie or Bob anything had we needed to. Would love to return and explore some of the beautiful local area. The Hideaway was clean, sooo comfortable, cosy and incredibly thoughtfully stocked. Thank you so much for making what could have been pretty stressful weekend so smooth and peaceful.

    Nell2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for two nights in this beautiful place. The room is lovely and spotless, the village very scenic, the hosts are knowledgable about the local area and very helpful. They very thoughtfully provide lots of extra food in the store cupboard in case you forget any thing as there is no local shop. The three horseshoes pub serves tasty food and is open all day at weekends. As with anywhere rural don’t forget your torch! A great break all round and I would very happily recommend The Hideaway.

  • This place is fantastic. Clean, comfortable and beautifully kept. We were attending a wedding at the nearby Penny Square Barn and The Hideaway is the perfect location! We easily walked to the wedding in 15-20 minutes and we're not the fittest of people. Bob and Jess are wonderful hosts. We couldn't have asked for more kind, accomodating people to greet and look after us for our stay. Bob shared local knowledge and his directions for getting to The Hideaway and for getting around Batcombe were perfect! We cannot wait to stay again!

    Elizabeth2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, clean hideaway in the middle of a cosy village, excellent hosts with plenty of food left by them for your stay! Only downside we felt were not having any games, radio etc with there being no TV or not even being able to get any phone signal whatsoever to use your phone/ipad to watch films etc, also the lanes are very tight, from country people ourselves it's no issue but I know alot of people would struggle driving down the tight, narrow lanes, but apart from that we had a lovely stay. Thanks 👍

    Poppy2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for a couple of nights for a wedding locally. The village is so beautiful and we had a wonderful meal at the local pub- the three horseshoes, where they were very welcoming and the food was great. The apartment was perfect! Great location, stylishly decorated, the most comfortable king size bed! Bob also left us eggs, milk, bread etc which is a lovely touch. Would stay again and recommend to others!

    Susie2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • A gem: immaculate, stylish, elegant, comfortable, generous and caring. The Hideaway and Bob were top notch. Thank you!

  • If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with walks right on your doorstep then this place is the dream! If I could stay forever then I would, as would our springer spaniel who had the best few days ever running up and down the hills and exploring the countryside that’s quite literally on the doorstep. The house had everything that we needed and is ideal as a base for visiting the local area, or perfect if it you just want to get away from it all for a few days. Highly recommend a visit to Matt’s Kitchen in Bruton for dinner 🍽

  • What a glorious space within an amazing setting. We had a lovely time relaxing in a house that had everything we could need while beautiful inside and out.

  • Absolutely gorgeous stay with views for miles. Great communication with instant replies from our hosts. Visited Glastonbury Christmas markets- brilliant. Thank you for the best weekend.

  • We had a lovely, relaxing weekend. The house is beautiful and very warm, it was lovely to have the wood burner ready to light when we arrived in the cold and dark. The location is very peaceful (you can only hear owls at night time) with beautiful views, and it's a very short drive to Bruton for some great Christmas shopping. Sarah was very quick to respond and answer any queries. The house was very clean and we would definitely stay again.

    Anna2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • The space is lovely and spacious. Very stylish converted barn even with tennis court facilities and plenty of parking! We stayed over for a friend's wedding nearby and didn't get to spend enough time at this beautiful house. Directions provided were excellent as it would have been difficult to find otherwise.

    Hilda2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Mill House is such a special place, a well designed home with a stunning backdrop. It's the perfect sized house for a relaxing holiday or family gathering. The 2 living spaces are large and oh so comfy and the kitchen has everything you need to make it feel like your home away from home! I'd recommend a stay here to anyone looking for a classic English countryside retreat.

    Jo2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah and David were fantastic hosts. They were always fast to respond to any messages they received during our short stay. Their property is stunning, with some fantastic walks to Bruton and the local villages. It really is the perfect retreat for families or a small group of friends. I would highly recommend.

The queen has recently visited our town, which you will find very quaint. There are two pubs in walking distant and we also have The Chapel which serves everything from coffee, pizza’s, bakery and lunch. • Sally’s place is cosy, very nicely put together, sparkling clean and exceptionally comfortable. And her breakfast was outstanding!

    Nancy2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A very warm welcome from both Sally and her husband, David. The accommodation is really fabulous and comfortable - in the most charming private setting of their garden. You won’t want to leave! Sally will cook you the most delicious breakfast - we felt very spoilt. Brodie their terrier is very enthusiastic about the guests that come to stay. Sally has thought of EVERYTHING - this is a small piece of heaven - tranquil and away from it all. We will be back to have a holiday in Somerset and base ourselves at Sally’s. Highly, highly recommend a stay here!

  • Very nice annex all on one level and with easy access. Back the car up to the door. Very nicely presented and Pip is a great host.

    Mike2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully presented. Three of us stayed and it was perfect for our needs. There is no village shop and we had forgotten milk etc for the evening and morning but when we got there they had left us fresh bread, orange juice, tomatoes, eggs, bacon, butter and MILK and TEA. Made such a difference. None of us have ever been left breakfast at Air B and B’s before. Also wifi available and soap and hairdryers. Everything you need for the night. Absolutely spotless too and pretty.

  • We could only stay one night but were made to feel very welcome by Pip in her lovely apartment. It's in a beautiful quiet spot, with a lovely village pub 5 minutes' walk away. Had everything we needed - comfy bed, great shower and a delicious breakfast! And a very friendly dog to welcome us. Thank you!

  • Pip annex consists of a neat double bedroom, small sitting area/ kitchen. The accommodation is tastefully furnished and the bed is extremely comfortable. Pip is a very friendly and helpful host. Breakfast isn't provided for but Pip left all the delicious provisions in the fridge because the annex is self catering. All in all it was lovely place to stay in an utterly charming village.

This is an elegant and cosy double room in my family home in the heart of Bruton. With the High Street just a minutes walk away it is perfectly located to enjoy the local restaurants, pubs, and boutiques that Bruton has to offer. Hauser & Wirth art gallery is a 10 minute walk away and it is a short drive to Stourhead house and gardens, Sparkford Hall, Bath & West Showground and Glastonbury. The room is perfect for single guests or couples.
My house is a modest Victorian town house which I have lovingly renovated over the last few years. It has a traditional feel with a contemporary twist and is a light and calming space to be in. The room is situated at the back of the house on the first floor, overlooking the garden. There is a standard double bed, with cotton bed linen and goose feather duvet and pillows. There is a small wardrobe, a chair, a mirror, shelves and a bedside table with drawers. The shared bathroom is on the same floor and is modern and compact with a rain shower and bath.
  • This was the second time I stayed at Julia’s home and I would definitely recommend staying here. A lovely room in a friendly home, it is great for exploring Bruton and the surrounding area!

    Chris2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous host. Julia was there to greet me, the room was cosy and spotless, the bed super-comfy and the room totally silent at night. She even offered tea and coffee and cereal for breakfast. A great AirBnB host. Thank you.

    Gillian2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks for a lovely stay. Julia's place is great, as Bruton is so compact and accessible - just a short walk to everything. The room was lovely and Julia is welcoming.

  • Really enjoyed my stay.

    Dee2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Julia's place was just perfect, very easy going and hospitable and so well priced for the location. Just a stumble to the town and perhaps 10 min to Hauser and Wirth. I would definitely recommend staying here.

  • Julia’s great... Easy-going, open and ever-helpful (Julia was so ill when I stayed and yet couldn’t do enough...that’s a class host). Bruton is gloriously quaint and Julia’s sweet little pad is about 1 minute away. Super value for money...it ain’t king size but I’m 6’3 and snuck into an extremely comfortable bed.

    Paul2019-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Julia’s for a week while starting a new job in Bruton. As soon as I arrived Julia and her daughter were so welcoming and made me feel really at home. The room was light, clean and the bed was so comfortable. I highly recommend staying here if you’re in the area!

    Becks2019-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house was in a great location and the room was clean, tidy and cosy. Julia was a great host, and made me feel welcome, she also posted me some items I had left in the room afterwards which was much appreciated! Would recommend. Thanks, Tim

A character cottage in the centre of Shepton Mallet. The cottage is situated at the top of the high Street close to the tourist information, two supermarkets, the bus stop to nearby towns and Collet Park. There is on street parking opposite which is free out of working hours.
The room is a cosy single and has a wardrobe, shelves, single bed with bed linen and towels and is next to the shared bathroom. You will have access to the kitchen which is fully equipped with all cooking utensils, there is also a cupboard and a shelf in the fridge for any foods you wish to buy.
The high street has an eclectic mix of shops and cafes. The Art bank and Cheeky Bean cafes are certainly worth a visit as is Kilver Court designer village and garden. Shepton Mallet is centrally located for visits to Glastonbury, Wells and Frome.

The Stableyard is a brand new space continuing the dimensions and feel of the renovated stables. A light and airy space, the Stableyard is constructed of mixed materials to provide the least environmental impact and most relaxing place to stay, where you are as much part of nature as sheltered from it. Settled within the garden of my home, Ravenswood, the Stableyard enjoys a small formal lawn, a larger clover lawn, and a new meadow garden, all part of an effort to give more habitat for wildlife.
Access will be from the driveway of my house, Ravenswood, on Bailey's Lane. Parking is at the front of my house with comfortable room for 2 vehicles and mine. The Stableyard is fully equipped as an independent living space - anything you might need that isn't there can usually be provided from the house depending on my availability. I have three dogs (shelties) who are all very friendly but will bark fro time to time. If you have allergies to them or are afraid of dogs, please think carefully as they have fairly free run of the large garden. The property includes a public footpath - this passes through the meadow garden about 40ft from the Stableyard - it is not in heavy use with usually a couple of dog walkers from the village passing through in the daytime. Ravenswood has a small woodland that includes a fire pit you are welcome to use and you will have access to a charcoal BBQ (always best to bring your own coals if you know you'll need them) as well as a couple of sun loungers, deck chairs, and hammocks in the orchard. The construction of the Stableyard is part of a ten year project to renovate, rebuild, and re-wild the whole property, therefore there are corners with rubble and spoil etc although these are largely concealed by plants. The Stableyard area is immaculate for you pleasure and safety.
Westcombe is home to the best shop in the world; the Westcombe Dairy and Wild beer shop! what more could you need, just a stone's throw away. Just over half a mile is the fantastic 3 Horseshoes Inn at Batcombe and a short drive, or leisurely walk, is the Co-op in Evercreech.
  • Dan is a very considerate and thoughtful host. He had lots of good recommendations and our stay in Westcome was wonderful. His place is squeaky clean with everything brand new. We loved our walks in the countryside and surrounding area of the house.

  • Dan was helpful from start to finish, responded to initial questions and provided lots of information in the run up our stay. The Space: Wow! It wont disappoint! Tucked away so plenty of privacy and finished to a very high standard, everything you need and more. Lots of lovely touches. I stayed with my son and dog and it was perfect, but also think this would be the perfect place for a relaxed and romantic break! It is fairly remote, but for me, this was the best bit, a great way to chill out and a great base to explore. Thank you Dan!

  • We probably stayed at the Cider house 6 times and are still amazed by the beauty of the place and its surroundings. The hosts Lucinda and Jeremy are incredibly friendly, communicating in a very efficient way but leaving us at piece when are are not here. The house itself is super cozy with a huge bath tub and a comfy bed. It looks even better in reality! Thanks again Jeremy and Lucinda !

My place is a small but cosy and convenient bungalow in a quiet and peaceful neighbourhood on the edge of town. My place is close to the town centre, art and culture, shops, restaurants and dining, the train station, the river Brue and great views.
My neighbourhood is very peaceful and quiet. Only a few minutes walk to the train station and town centre and with lovely views of the countryside.
  • Carola's place is small but full of colour. Unfortunately she couldn't be there at the last minute for the one night I had booked, but she generously allowed me to stay anyway, and thoughtfully provided breakfast. Thank you Carola!

Jake’s Cabin is tucked away in one of the most magical secluded locations in Somerset. Waking to birdsong and with views of undulating hillside and meadows, it provides closeness to nature that melts away the strains of busy lives. Built from local cedar and larch and using only eco friendly and re-cycled materials, this beautifully crafted retreat can be found in a sunny clearing, and protected from the elements by the old oak and hazelnut trees that cast dappled light over its living roof.
Based on our much-loved Gabriel’s Wagon, Jake’s Cabin has more space and an internal door leading to the bathroom that hosts a warm yellow roll top bath with an external door for a bath with a view; It has a luxuriously comfy day-bed with a v sprung mattress and silky soft bamboo bed linen; floor to ceiling windows running along its length and sky lights, so that whether from the bath, bed or from the soft sinking cushions of the old Ercol sofa, you can enjoy the views, catch the sunlight and watch the stars.. Jake’s Cabin has running hot and cold water and electricity and is properly equipped with kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery, a baby belling hob and oven, Belfast sink and fridge. The wood-burning stove keeps the cabin in constant warmth, thanks also to its high spec draft proof insulation.
A famous footpath up Creech Hill to the site of a Romano-Celtic temple is just nearby with fields offering fossil finding and ancient woodland to explore. In Jake's Cabin, walks are mapped out for you to enjoy to the local Saxon town of Bruton along drovers lanes to visit Houser & Wirth’s Somerset gallery. For foodies, this town is a delight, with Houser& Wirth’s Roths Bar, At the Chapel and Matts Kitchen to choose from. You can also walk to Cole Manor tea rooms, set on the gentle River Brue, or for a longer walk, make your way along the river at Spargrove, to sit beside the log fire in the 3 Horseshoes pub in Batcombe. A half hour car journey will bring your to the spectacular Cheddar Gorge and the Mendip hills and in the opposite direction, Stourhead, with peaceful lake-side walks, and stunning gardens. In the summer, there is Glastonbury Festival, just 5 miles away, and the Bath & west showground offering a constant programme of interest from the Royal Bath & West agricultural show, to Antiques and Collectors shows and the famous Sunday Flea Market. (Please check dates) For a taste of Somerset town life, we are within easy reach of Glastonbury with its quaint shops and impressive Abbey ruins; Wells and its breathtakingly beautiful Cathedral and Frome’s Catherine Hill, fun to visit with quirky buzzy bohemian vintage shops, fantastic cafes and an Artisan Market every last Sunday of the month – all within 10 miles radius. For city life, the magnificent Georgian City of Bath is within 20 miles
  • There’s so much to say about Happy on the Hill that I don’t know where to start. The views are stunning, the cabin is perfect and Neil and Susan are lovely, lovely people. We spent two wonderful nights in Jake’s Cabin, we switched our phones off, took winter walks with our dog Runa, sat by the log burner playing cards, read books, napped and had the best baths I’ve ever had. Book now, I promise you won’t regret it!! Susan and Neil have created a beautiful space with absolutely everything you could need and more during your stay, the only downside was we didn’t book for longer.

    Demelza2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • I am not exaggerating when I say Jake's Cabin was perfect for a couple of stress free days to recharge, read and enjoy the countryside. The cabin is gorgeous and the view stunning. All little touches are very well considered, like rustic fresh bread and homemade jams. The log burner was a welcome reprieve from the horrible weather. The walks were brilliant, despite the mud. We really appreciated the local information provided especially route maps and archaeological reports about sites of interest. We will definitely be back.

    Erica2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Another fantastic stay at Jake's cabin! Its such a peaceful and calming environment and you leave feeling refreshed and happy ! The fresh bread and eggs make the perfect breakfast (the plum jam is my favourite!) Susan and Neil are the perfect hosts and we cant wait to come back!

  • Happy on the hill didn't disappoint, had a lovely stay! The cabin was exactly as pictured and the location was great. Slight mishap with the hot water but Neil fixed this promptly and was a great host. Would stay again!

  • Just the most perfect, magical, cosy, gorgeous place to spend a weekend getting away from the city!

    Una2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • A really beautiful place to stay. It was so peaceful and with a great view over the hills. We managed to get around on foot and had amazing food and walks in Bruton and the local area. The cabin was really well equipped and had some lovely touches including eggs & marmalade from their farm and cake & bread from a local restaurant. Definitely recommend this place for a relaxing weekend! Thanks Susan and Neil.

  • A great little set up and a perfect base to explore local attractions. We stayed with our 3 month baby and Linzi very kindly left a baby monitor, travel cot and changing facility out. We walked to the local pub for dinner, visited Clark’s village and had a fantastic Chinese takeaway from Hong Kong Garden Shepton Mallet. A great little break away.

There were many thoughtful touches including everything you need for breakfast (including delicious home made marmalade) as well as some treats! There is plenty of room to relax as well as a large selection of films and music to enjoy. Lisa gave us lots of helpful tips and advice about Bruton and the wider area. We would not hesitate to return and highly this property.

    David2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa and Andy are phenomenally good hosts. Completely respectful of personal space but brilliantly helpful and attentive. The house has everything you could possibly need down to the unexpected provision of food bits and bobs which we took full advantage of as it was all so lovely. Andy even went out of his way to provide non dairy milk and spread for us. The bed is super comfy, the bath is enormous and the books and DVDs are plentiful (including talented Andy's own writings!). The best thing about it though, really is the hosts. They are warm, funny, fascinating people and we can't wait to go back and see them again! Thanks both of you!

Once part of the milk train that carried churns to Somerset dairies, Gabriel’s Wagon has been lovingly restored. It provides comfort, tranquility, fun and relaxation for a couple to stay amidst its rolling fields and heart-stopping views all the year around. This is as inviting in the depths of winter, as the summer: a suntrap when the sun shines, a magical look out when the rain and snow falls, relaxing by the cosy fire.
There is a big comfy bed and a beautifully crafted kitchen area with baby belling hob and oven, Belfast sink and little fridge. A sweet wood burning stove that lights like a dream keeps the wagon in constant warmth when needed, scenting the outside air with its gentle wood-smoke. Sink into the deep feather cushions of the old Ercol sofa and open the French windows to enjoy the view down to the little village church in the valley below. Undercover of the translucent arched roof, walk out onto the red cedar and larch decking. At one end an old pine door leads to the bathroom that invites you to relax! Enjoy the treat of a cast iron roll-top bath filled with hot running water and privacy to open the door wide if you fancy, to see the view as you let go of all life’s demands. Down the wooden steps is a fire pit and fire wok if you wish to cook outside and enjoy the spectacular lookout spot by day and night. Additionally Gabriel's Wagon offers: •Local ingredients for breakfast •Bamboo bed linen and luxurious Vispring mattress Travel cot available for a babe in arms •Woodburner with logs supplied •Covered verandah with place for muddy wellies & hooks for coats •Bruton town 3 miles away with restaurants, cafes and well stocked shops including The Organic Shop – organic co-operative •A special welcome for your dog with our own Pet Welcome Pack •Nearby off road parking
A famous footpath up Creech Hill to the site of a Romano-Celtic temple is just nearby with fields offering fossil finding and ancient woodland to explore. In Gabriel’s Wagon, walks are mapped out for you to enjoy to the local Saxon town of Bruton along drovers lanes to visit Houser & Wirth’s Somerset gallery. • This is just the loveliest place to go and spend time, both inside the wagon, the surrounding countryside and following all the suggestions and recommendations in the whole area. We went without a car and got by just fine - a fantastic little holiday.

    Rosalba2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend at Happy on the Hill. I hope we can return soon.

    Megan2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We are sad to be back from such a memorable trip and stay at Gabriel’s wagon. Truly have nothing to fault - we especially loved the special touches that included homemade baked items and amazing jams, the drawn out map you are given to venture around the gorgeous area and all natural products available for you to use. Unfortunately we only had a chance to meet Neil - who very kindly greeted us late in the evening and helped us feel right at home, very happy to point us in the right direction of where we needed to go to suit our needs. The area was so lovely and we really enjoyed exploring the countryside which plenty of towns nearby to visit. If you have any doubts on whether to book the wagon, I urge you to do it as you simply won’t regret it :-)

  • We had a wonderful time at the cabin!

    Anne2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful tranquil place perfect getaway from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

    Mel2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fantastic! My partner and I stayed for three nights just after New Year and it was the perfect way to start the year refreshed. The wagon has been beautifully converted inside and out, and has an abundance of amenities making it cosy, comfortable, and a delight to stay in. Susan and Neil had provided artisan bread and cake, milk, home made jam and marmalade and a wealth of other personal touches which really made the stay that little bit extra special - not to mention convenient if you haven't had a chance to go to the shop before arrival! Check-in was lovely as we just notified Susan of our arrival time when we were on our way and she provided instructions to self check-in. Given the cosy, remote-getaway style of the accomodation it was nice to feel self-contained in this manner. We returned from a muddy walk one day and popped over to see Susan & Neil who were in their garden, they were very friendly and a delight to talk to, offering us their warm outside tap to wash our dog down with! We enjoyed going for walks around the countryside right from the wagon's doorstep, then returning to relax by the wood burner - We felt this was a great piece of kit as it was heavy cast iron and ran slowly and steadily on a small amount of wood keeping the cabin warm at all times, even after going out for a meal or walk. Bruton is a 7 minute drive or 30 minute walk away and we enjoyed going for a tasting meal at the newly opened Osip restaurant, as well as take away pizzas from 'At the Chapel'. If you haven't been before it is a small, beautiful village, with pretty much everything you need situated along the small high street. If you are considering this place amongst any others, book this! We had high expectations but they were exceeded in every department, and on the first day we were already looking at summer dates to come back. Many thanks, James, Camilla & Monty

Large, tastefully decorated en-suite room with king size bed/quality bed linen. Self contained with TV, desk space and sofa. To allow for your privacy we provide basic breakfast items for your stay without disturbing you each morning. The picturesque centre of Castle Cary is a few minutes walk away. Ideal for a couple, but the sofa bed could accommodate a child, please enquire and see space details. Please DO NOT Instant Book if attending Bath Showground / Glastonbury events, see space details.
This luxury room which is newly decorated forms part of our house but is self contained with its own entrance. Just a few minutes walk from the delightful town centre. Visit the historic market house, the thriving Tuesday local market or the vintage market run once a month. You are near to Bruton where the Hauser and Wirth gallery is found, together with noted restaurants, and nearby is the newly opened visitor attraction - 'The Newt'. A little further afield you are spoilt for choice of National Trust properties as well as Glastonbury, Wells, Bath, Street for Clark’s shopping village, and Shepton Mallet for the Kilver Court designer village and garden, or a visit to the notable prison. IMPORTANT NOTE: While we are not far from Bath Showground and Glastonbury we do not take bookings for late / overnight events. This is due to the fact that we are not aware of any local taxi services that are available for such events and it is about a 5 mile walk from the Showground down busy country roads with no pavement. We appreciate that bus services are sometimes shown as offered to and from the station but these never seem to run to suit the time people want to return. Having brought up our own children we no longer wish to have the worry of young adults not getting back, or having to act as a taxi service for people at such events. No cleaning charges applied. Tea / coffee / basic breakfast items provided Coffee machine Mini fridge We have a no smoking policy We request that guests remove shoes when entering. £10 additional charge per night for child using sofa bed (enquire first please using ‘contact host’ no instant booking for this).
All around the area is beautiful countryside. Opposite the property is an open area for walking with some exercise equipment if feeling energetic. Beside the property is the sports field which you wander across on the path to get into town. There are places to eat in town, as well as takeaways, and some excellent pubs and restaurants not too far distant including renowned restaurants in Bruton.
  • Clean, homely and very comfortable. We stayed with our 1 year old and she had a terrific nights sleep! As did we! Very peaceful and definitely recommended. Thanks!

Bruton is a unique Somerset town with great Restaurants. Hauser & Wirth is a ten minute walk away.
  • Returned for a second stay, in the winter this time, just as nice, cosy, private, with a great view.

    Kate2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Wing was everything we imagined- a beautiful bedroom with a fabulous view & the shower room was light & airy. Amelia was superb with corresponding & offering local information. So easy to walk to all the delicious eateries that Bruton has to offer... it felt very indulgent walking to The Chapel for breakfast & relaxing with newspapers. Lovely little extras - daffodils & biscuits❤️ Thankyou.

  • A great place to stay in the heart of Bruton village. Stylish, clean, spacious, quiet, and a very comfy bed — we couldn’t have asked for any more. Highly recommended.

    Thomas2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • An outstanding experience. We will be returning again. The property has stunning views, is very secluded and is well appointed. The breakfast voucher for the chapel restaurant was an excellent touch as were the tea and coffee making facilities. Stunning

  • The wing in Bruton is a really lovely place to stay!! Set just up behind the high street it has the most wonderful views over open fields. The wing is fantastic beautifully clean and cosy. Amelia was extremely accommodating going the extra mile for us she even very kindly offered to drop us to the gallery where we having dinner. I wouldn’t hesitate to return and would thoroughly recommend staying here.

  • This is a lovely little spot from which to enjoy Bruton. It’s very comfortable, with a huge bed and a fab walk in shower. There are lots of little touches to make the stay comfortable like hot drink making facilities, biscuits and lovely toiletries. We loved having no tv too as it added to the tranquility. Highly recommended 🙂

Very comfortable cool temperature in the Airbnb even in the full summer heat (was over 30 degrees Celsius during our stay) Surrounded by beautiful countryside and quaint villages, best accessed with a car. Very hospitable hosts

  • Above the Stables is in an idyllic spot and the views are gorgeous. Inside was spotless, spacious and welcoming with lots of comfy sofas and decorated throughout with style and charm. There are rows of books and DVD's, a fantastic large screen with projector + TV. Melinda was lovely and couldn't have been more welcoming. She was so generous with the provisions she left - Bread, butter, her own fresh eggs, milk, juice, yoghurt, jam, biscuits, chocolate etc. etc. and a beautifully laid breakfast table. Upton Noble is perfectly positioned for Bruton, Frome and Bath and for exploring the rest of this part of Somerset's beautiful villages and rolling hills. Thank you so much to Melinda for a great stay. Highly recommend.

    Catherine2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Melinda's place exceeded our expectations in accomodation space, furniture and special touches. Fresh farm eggs and bread and extras to nibble on in a lovely country area was one of the highlights of our stays through England and Wales. Melinda welcomed us and was always on hand with tips and suggestions on places to visit and see in a beautiful country side. I could not recommend Melinda's place highly enough - great hosts, great accomodation and a beautiful location.

    Geoff2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay. Melinda had thought of all the little touches that make you feel very welcome. Great space and the location was perfect for our visit to Somerset. We will definately stay again if visiting the area.

    Sarah2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful property and location, a pleasurable experience and such a simple process from booking to arrival and during the stay. The touches in terms of provisions were the best I've had via an Airbnb booking. Highly recommend a visit.

    Simon2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Melinda's place. From the moment we requested to book until the moment we left, Melinda was a responsive, thoughtful and great host. The place is bigger and better than it looks in the photos, and the location is an excellent base for exploring the local area (our weekend took in Longleat, Hauser and Wirth at Bruton and Stourhead (National Trust) and we were just scratching the surface of what the area has to offer. There are no shops or pubs in the village so it's really great that Melinda offers extras such as the basics (and more) you need when you arrive (e.g. milk, cereal, tea, coffee, butter, bread) and extras like eggs from the hens and some chocolate buttons in the fridge went down a treat. There are pubs and shops a short drive away. The property is easy to find and parking is secure and accessible. The bed is very comfy and you get a lovely peaceful night's sleep. We really enjoyed the living area and the home cinema system - bring your favourite DVDs! We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property and would definitely like to return in the future.

  • Can't praise this Airbnb highly enough. I'd give it 10 stars if I could! Both Diane and her husband were fantastic hosts, couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Myself and 3 friends stayed here for a show at the Bath & Somerset showground that is within walking distance. Will definitely be booking this cottage again when looking for accommodation in the area. In summary, this cottage is spotlessly clean, very comfortable with all the facilities you'd need for a very enjoyable stay. Once again a big thank you to our hosts.

Terraced character cottage originally built as accommodation for the horse hair weaving factory opposite. It is newly refurbished and dogs are welcome. The well equipped cottage is within walking distance of charming country town, mainline station and open countryside. Ideal base for visiting Glastonbury, Stonehenge, Bath, Longleat, Stourhead The Newt in Somerset or Hauser & Wirth. Or as overnight accommodation for Cadbury Court, Pennard House, Sparkford Hall, Holbrook Manor or Kilver Court.
Our aim is to provide clean, comfortable accommodation at a reasonable charge. Set over two floors, you are welcomed through the front door into the living room with dining table and chairs, comfy seating and internet enabled tv. Through the hallway is the bathroom which has a shower over the bath, wash basin and wc. From the hallway, a few steps lead you down into the well equipped kitchen and back door, taking you down further steps to the garden. The garden has ample space for relaxing with a lawned area, flower borders and an archway takes you to the gravelled area - with views over open fields and Glastonbury Tor. Upstairs there are two bedrooms - one King size, overlooking the front of the property, with dressing table and garment hooks ; the other double room overlooks the garden, with garment hangers and shelves.
Born and bred in Castle Cary, I confess I am biased but not without good reason. We are rightly proud of our independent shops, coffee shops and pubs - you can get most things you need and much more you didn’t know you needed! The town itself has a museum based in the historic Market House and one of only a few surviving Round House prisons to visit. Castle Cary is a great base if you’re attending an event at Cadbury Court, Holbrook Manor or Sparkfork Hall. Equally suitable if you’re planning to visit more popular tourist spots like Clark’s Village, Glastonbury, Longleat, Haynes Motor Museum, Yeovilton, the Somerset Levels, Stonehenge and Stourhead.
  • A great location for exploring Castle Cary, surrounding villages and beyond!

  • A lovely cottage. Clean and inviting. The cottage was nice and warm when we arrived with milk in the fridge and fresh flowers on the windowsill. Just what was needed on a cold Feb evening. Verity and Jason were quick to respond to any queries and were very helpful. Will definitely stay again

    Teresa2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for one night - communication was excellent and we arrived to a spotless home, with all as described. We would stay again.

Situated between Bruton and Castle Cary we can offer a small but comfortable bedroom with en suite shower room and complimentary breakfast the following morning. The free breakfast includes granola, muesli, croissants, toast, fresh fruit, yoghurt, orange juice, tea and coffee. A cooked breakfast is available but NOT complimentary. This would be £8 per person and must be ordered in advance. You'll have your own car park, own entrance and secluded delightful courtyard with garden table and chairs.
With your own front door to your room you can come and go when you please and have as much privacy as you like, however we are always available if you need us. Your room is in an annex attached to our house, so you don't have to worry about coming through our part of the house, whatever time you get in!
From our quiet location nestled in a quiet valley full of cider orchards there are many local attractions. Within a few minutes drive you can get to Wincanton Racecourse, the Bath and West showground, Glastonbury Festival and thriving Bruton. Here you will find the Hauser and Wirth Gallery including the delicious Roth Bar and Grill, @The Chapel and now The Newt in Somerset and Osip restaurant. Castle Cary is 15 minutes walk away or three minute drive with a selection of shops, restaurants / pubs. This is a daylight walk, by the way, wearing suitable footwear!
  • Susanna's place is gorgeous - we cannot recommend it highly enough. The room is very private, with a separate entrance and ensuite bathroom. It was the first time we've stayed in a private room and it has converted us from exclusively "entire place" Airbnbers. The bed was extremely comfortable and made up with beautiful bed linen. Susanna included so many thoughtful touches, which really made the stay feel special. The house is within easy reach of Castle Cary and Bruton and it's a beautiful part of the countryside for a walk. Could not fault it!

  • Spent the weekend at Susanna’s place for a quiet break from London life and I feel totally relaxed after such a nice time. Susanna’s home is truly beautiful and her well-meaning hospitality made it feel so special. It is really easy to get around to all the must-see spots in Bruton like Hauser + Wirth and The Newt, she gave me some excellent tips that made the weekend just a little more full too. Really sad being back home now, I could have moved in!

    Amy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved staying here. The location is incredible, tucked away in an idyllic hamlet just a few minutes away from Bruton or Castle Cary. The whole property is gorgeous, incredible gardens and beautiful architecture. The bed is one of the comfiest we've ever stayed in! Susanna is a brilliant host and made us feel really welcome, she even laid out an amazing breakfast in her amazing kitchen. We drank tea, coffee and juice and ate croissants, fruit, toast and cereal, it was one of the best experiences on Airbnb we've ever had. Can't wait to visit again! The annex is very private, secluded, luxurious and tastefully decorated.

  • Every now and then you come across a real jewel on Air BnB - this place is one of them. A private annexe room with an ensuite bathroom with a lovely shower space. Everything is so stylish - part of a beautiful house with a rolling garden. A stone's throw from Bruton. Susanna was great with her communication. Highly recommended luxury!!

    Sam2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The annexe was idyllic providing a super comfy bed, powerful shower. Everything was spotlessly clean. Susanna was a lovely host.

    Andrew2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely lovely spot, in a fantastic location that feels calm and secluded and yet is minutes away from all sorts of nice and fun things to do. Susanna is a great hostess too.

    Tristan2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Susanna's place is fantastic. It's stylish and wonderfully comfortable and we particularly appreciated the thoughtful touches i.e. the cool water in the fridge and the yummy biscuits and plentiful supply of tea/coffee and the decent sized mugs , glasses and cafetiere--not always a given! Susanna is very warm and welcoming.

    Chris2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Susanna’s place is such a treat! The perfect spot for a weekend break away! You have your own private outside table and the area is beautiful for exploration. Room has everything you need for a short stay! Lovely hospitality from Susanna. Cant wait to return

  • This was our second time staying at the Trap House and it was just as good as the first, if not better. Heather really has thought of everything from the local cheese, butter and bread in the welcome pack to the luxurious finishes touches to the decor. We consider the Trap House a real home from home and are always so sad to leave. Location is great for local pubs and connections to neighbouring villages. Trap house is perfect for a romantic and peaceful getaway. We’ll be back again that’s for sure 🥰
