  • Annely’s guesthouse is great. It was a great location between the Tongariro crossing and Waitomo, which were the two activities we were doing in the area. Steve the sheep is a hoot and Annely and Damin were very kind and great hosts. It was a hot day so we had to use the supplied fan until it cooled down during the night. There was bread for toast, fruit, yogurt, coffee (French press), and cereal supplied which was great to start our day. My husband’s first comment on the spacious bathroom was “yay, a big sink”, as all of our previous stays had very tiny bathroom sinks and no space to set anything down. Little things make a difference. :) Thanks for everything!

    Laurel2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, simple & recommended! We were warmly welcomed and integrated directly by both the family and the animals.

  • One of our best stays in nz. Annely’s family welcomed us super warmly, Steve the sheep included! The room is separated from the house, this guarantees a lot of privacy. Highly recommended!

  • Nice little bungalow, lovely country setting with wonderful extended family and animal friends. Lovely and clean and comfortable.

    Pam2020-01-30T00:00:00Z

And occasionally a dog. We are able to accomodate two couples travelling together if prepared to share bathroom. Second bedroom doesn’t have the view of the main room.
King size bed in a room with a view, clean, comfortable and quiet. (with the exception of livestock over the fence) Continental Breakfast included.
    Waitomo caves, west coast beaches
  • Where to start? Hospitality: awesome. Dave invited us in and he did an amazing job making us feel at home. Laurel checked up on us, and made the most delicious breakfast. There were all these small conversations that made us feel so welcome. House: the room where we stayed in was super clean, as was the bathroom. It was big enough for the three of us. The house has an enormous yard, where our 2 yr old son loved to run around. But the best part: location. It’s so peaceful, with an amazing view, and only 20 min away from the Waitomo caves. We wished we stayed an extra night here, and will definitely come back when we visit New Zealand again.

    Kim2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible is an understatement. Thanks Laurel & Dave for sharing your home & valuable experiences of the local area. Every suggestion was spot on or above. Any guests who would love to live like a local with great company, this is surely the place to be.

    Patricia2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Laurel & Dave’s place has great view. The bed is very comfy, and the place is clean. They are also very helpful if you are asking them for any local knowledge. Recommend to everyone!

  • Would highly recommend staying at The Neuk, especially if you enjoy a good chat with amazing hosts. Although it is 30 mins from Waitomo Caves, it’s worth it for the view and hospitality. The cats were adorable and the bed was very comfortable. Thank you Laurel and Dave for making us feel at home!

    Melina2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location for visiting the Waitomo caves. Offers a spectacular view and friendly kitty company. We loved staying here and wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you Laurel and Dave!

    Valisa2019-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • The best stay ever! Highly recommended. The view is stunning, and most importantly outstanding hospitality from Laurel and Dave! We were welcomed with hot tea and cookies after our Waitomo caves adventure! Laurel helped us to heat up our dinner. The bed was so comfortable, shower room was great and there were alot of thoughtful touches! (: Laurel even has great space in the fridge to store all our food and she gave us a Ice block to keep our cooling bag cold. You can't ask for a better host! The breakfast was great too, with hot coffee, hot toasts and pancakes, cereals and many jams for you to choose from! (: most importantly, Laurel spends time with us, shared with us local tips and stories. We really enjoyed our stay here!

    Hui2019-12-03T00:00:00Z

  • The Loft is a delightful little nook surrounded by expansive farm land filled with sheep and cattle. A little walk up a small hill next to the property will give an amazing 360 degree view of the surrounding area. The Loft's location is conveniently located close to the town center of Te Kuiti without sacrificing any of the serene farmland experience. On top if it all, the host, Karen and Phillip, are generous and informative. Their hospitality is unmatched and I would recommend this place to family, friends, and anyone else who I know.

  • The studio is located at a beautiful farm (which was the main reason why we chose it). It is also close to Waitomo Caves, so it can be an option for those who visit the caves (including us :D). Sally and Chris were very welcoming and had perfectly prepared the studio for our stay. The studio is clean with enough room for one or two people and it was exactly the same as described. We were also offered a breakfast, which we would love to take if we did not have to leave too early :))

  • A picturesque location in a clean and comfortable semi detached unit. Sally provides extra touches that are thoughtful. The animals are a bonus.

  • Wonderful farm with great hospitality. Sally was a wonderful host! She greeted us when we arrived, and even made us farm fresh eggs for breakfast. The farm is lovely and in a great location close to the glow caves. We wish we could have stayed here longer!

  • Our family had an awesome weekend at Shaina’s place. The views were beyond what I had expected - such a beautiful spot. Shaina was so helpful and her family so accommodating. Spent our weekend on the tennis court, in the pool and spa, wondering the property. Kids loved the trampoline and flying fox. Just fantastic!

  • Such a fantastic family stay! Girls loved the animals (Henry the horse and Rocco the dog especially), the pool (who wouldn’t), the in ground trampoline (hours of fun), the tennis court with ride on toys, and of course just the opportunity to be free range. Us adults loved the view, the hot tub (glorious), the layout of the accomodation, and the lovely hosts. Highly recommend!

    Elise2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We wanted a farm stay experience with our kids aged 5 and 7 and couldn’t have picked a better spot. Shania and her kids were so welcoming and made us feel right at home. It is a little slice of heaven (with a pony)!

    Jenny2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is by far the best stay we have ever had in an AirBnB. The listing doesn't do justice to the wonderland it proved for our four boys and the space it provided for a tired Mum and Dad to recover. The boys had a ball swimming in the pool, rolling down hills on karts, playing in the forts, going down the zipline, and interacting with Roco the uber friendly Foxie dog, the pony or chooks. As city folk it was cool to wake up and look down the valley as the cloud clears. I highly recommend this listing for families of energetic children or burnt out parents (maybe both) looking for a break!

    Karl2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Definitely 5 STARS for us. The whole family were very welcoming and friendly. Our children enjoyed their time there. An amazing view and vibes there. We definitely recommend this place. Thank You.

Close to common attractions such as Hobbiton, Waitomo Caves and Raglan. Quiet and private setting in a relaxing space.
Nice quiet cull de sac. Perfect spot for Field Days accommodation.
  • We found ourselves staying at Jess and Jays during the lockdown period as we couldn’t get home. We couldn’t have asked to stay with a kinder pair. They were very generous, quick to help and great company. The place itself is well equipped and we were able to make it home for four weeks. We’ll miss them both!

  • The room is in a small separate hut in the garden which gives a lot of privacy. It is nice and clean with a comfy bed and private bath. Breakfast is provided and includes everything you need. Jess and Jay are very kind and made me feel welcome. The dogs are lovely and kept me company which I really enjoyed. I can definitely recomand staying here!

Relax and unwind to the rural scenery while taking in the fresh countryside air. What was once an old Shearer’s Quarters is now a stylish self-contained cottage, with crisp white and warm tones, complimented by recycled finishings and a large outdoor shower. Continental breakfast is included with G.F and D.F options available on request. Enjoy staying a short 20 minute drive away from Waitomo Glowworm Caves and 10kms to our local township, Otorohanga. Instagram - @countryside.bnb
Countryside B&B is situated next to our house. Comfortably furnished with table and chairs, a queen bed, a small kitchenette equipped with an electric jug, toaster, fridge and microwave. No cooking is available inside however, we do have an outdoor fire pit for roasting marshmallows in the evening or a bbq for quick and easy meals. With a half bathroom situated inside, we have a large outdoor shower that offers fantastic rural views. Wifi is available along with a fan for hot summer nights, or a heater for crisp mornings.
Otorohanga is a friendly, small town with a strong community vibe. It’s safe and has lots of great things to do such as local walks, eateries and The Kiwi House. Otorohanga is also perfectly located and is a great base to visit some of the local attractions and regions close by.
  • We had a lovely stay at Emily & Jeremy’s cute and quaint BnB cottage! We enjoyed the outdoor shower much more than expected (great water pressure and hot water came out fast). The place had lovely decor and thoughtful touches. Quiet countryside living. Great WiFi. There was continental breakfast with fresh avocados as well! We recommend!

  • Great little get away!

    Siobhan2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Countryside BNB is everything you could possibly need - and so much more. Emily was a great host and incredibly accommodating for our 18 month toddler. The continental breakfast was a lovely touch, as were the robes. Our favourite aspect though was meeting Emily’s family (including the pet pig and the cats). Would definitely recommend this location for a stopover before/after the caves.

    Caitlin2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved it! This space was so cool. We arrived to a sparkling clean, super trendy yet very homely little cottage. The outdoor shower was an absolute treat and a great way to end a 6hr drive. Emily and her little one came to say ‘Hi’, which really added to the feeling of being welcome. The house was spacious yet cosy and was a wonderful get away for a night. We will definitely be back here very soon!

    Liam2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved this place! Very cute and comfortable. Perfect for a couple traveling or two friends. We stayed after we visited the Glow worm caves. Definitely recommend.

  • Very peaceful farm stay in a really cute bnb with everything you would need after visiting the Waitomo caves. The outdoor shower was great and so was dining out on the deck. Would definitely recommend!

    Jessica2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place in the country not far from the glow worm caves. The downtown area was cute and a bit bigger than we expected. The place was really nice. I enjoyed the outside shower and the bath robes were wonderful touch. The internet was very fast. I would recommend that you stay here. The host is very quick to respond and is very easy to talk to.

    Berta2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely small studio. It has an outdoor shower, good quality toiletries and all the necessary amenities. The bedroom area opens to a cute verandah with outdoor sitting area and a bbq to use. Great for couple or single traveller.

His place in Otorohanga is clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. It is only 20 minutes to Waitomo caves and within a short distance to other towns. A special treat was the hot tub, which was a perfect way to end our day,a nice soak while gazing at the stars.

St Marys is a quaint Church built in 1930. Newly renovated, it is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere, along with the rural setting. A 2 minute stroll takes you into the Piopio Village, where you'll find the Award winning Fat Pigeon Cafe and The Nite Owl Bar and Eatery. Also handy are the Waitomo Caves and many other natural attractions. PLEASE note, a booking for 1 guest equates to a Queen bedroom for 2 guests, additional guests requiring an extra room incur a tarrif of $50p/p.
We are 10 minutes from Hairy Feet tours, 30 minutes from the Waitomo Caves and handy to many walks and places of natural beauty such as the Marokopa waterfalls and natural bridge. 40 minutes to the west coast beaches for surfcasting and whitebait fritters..
  • Beautifully appointed character church conversion. Great place to unwind and relax and look forward to staying there again some time.

  • What a fantastic place! We truly felt welcomed, and the church was so spacious and clean. Our little guy had so much room to practice his walking. What made this place more beautiful is Jo’s kindness and generosity, she brought fresh milk for our son and fresh eggs from her farm. We will definitely stay there again.

    Omars2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful space that hugs you while you stay. Beautiful features, well appointed, fabulous view. Will stay again.

    Maree2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Airbnb displays pictures of cool, one-of-a-kind spaces, and we have never been able to rent one in a destination we needed or wanted to visit. Until now. Jo's house is *an actual deconsecrated church* as advertised. It is renovated and preserved in such a way that you really do have the experience of being in a church. It was mind blowing. The altar is intact, although now it contains a large dining table with benches. There is a carpet marking where the aisle would be, and what appears to be the original wood floor where the pews would have been. The rest is still there in all its glory, including a soaring wood ceiling with exposed rafters. That's a large living area. It's the middle of summer so we were able to open the windows and enjoy the fresh air. We slept really well. Jo left phenomenal locally produced soap for us in the bathroom. The kitchen is totally functional and we were able to cook pasta, sauce and vegetables. This was a great stop over for us between Tongariro National Park and the Waitomo caves.

We love that it's countryside but super handy if you want to pop into town for something. All newly refurbished in a modern simple clean style, we know you are going to enjoy your stay here. This studio can sleep up to 4. Very handy to Waitomo, Te Kuiti and Otorohanga to make it an excellent base for exploring the region. Waitomo Caves is only 10 minutes away so it's an easy start for the first tour of the day, or not far to get home after the last tour of the day. Only an hour to Hobbiton.
This studio is somewhere we've really enjoyed putting together for accommodation. It's got views on 3 sides and a fabulous deck. The privacy wall for the main bed give it a sense of being a separate bedroom and great if one wants to stay up and watch TV or work at the table while the other wants to sleep. The kitchenette has dishwasher, microwave, small fridge and bench top hop with all the pots and pans and utensils you may need to do some light cooking during your stay if you prefer to self cater. A washing machine and tub is located in the large bathroom with a clothes line outside, or an airing rack inside.
  • Easy check-in, great communication, comfortable space and a lovely welcome package for us on arrival. 5 stars!

    Toni2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Complete and chic furnished apartment. Welcome basket with New Zealand specialties, especially worth mentioning the jam. We didn't hear the street at night, only the waterworks can be heard in the studio. The other two accommodations will not be affected. Good location for the fireflies and the kiwi house in Otorohanga.

    Kai2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Modern, stylish and extremely comfortable. The accommodation is beautifully presented and you can tell immediately upon arrival that Sally really cares about you enjoying your stay. The basket of welcome goodies was very much appreciated as well as many other touches such as beach towels and cozy blankets. The Lime Tree properties are a great base for exploring the local area (caves, waterfall, natural bridge etc). Whether you are just passing through or staying for a few days this property is a really great choice.

  • Sally’s place was so warm and inviting! We had three people and the space was perfect! Sally had all the wonderful touches, she left a gift basket with all the local kiwi faves. Super close to the glow worm caves and town. Responses were quick and it was easy to check in and check out. I would highly recommend this space!

The cats and dogs are very friendly and love getting attention from guests. Located very close to waitomo restaurants and glow worm caves.

  • We spent two weeks in New Zealand and the two days we spent on this farm is something we will never forget. Our first full day there we had plans but our son ended up meeting a little friend and we decided to stay at the farm. It was the best couple of days- we laughed, sat on the porch, and interacted with all of the animals. They are all so loved by their caretakers and it shows. My 8 year old asked me before we even left, “when are we coming back?” This place is amazing and the memories we have created here will be treasured! There are so many important elements of life that are learned on a farm and my son embraced them all....

    Darlene2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really quite unique. In case you like animals as much as I do then you will find your stay here very entertaining - watching ostriches, cats, cows, horses etc. The cabins are cozy. The hosts very friendly, telling you a lot about their animals and the surrounding area. The breakfast is aces. Comes recommended.

  • Our stay at Ann’s place was wonderful. Ann is such a lovely host, really knowledgeable, easy to talk to and so friendly. Our room was very nice, with a comfortable queen bed and an en-suite bathroom. Ann also allowed us to use her kitchen including her cooking utensils to prepare dinner which we thought was super nice of her. The next morning, Ann served us a delicious breakfast with cereal, toast, homemade marmelade and honey from her bees. Ann’s puupy dog Phoebe was around as well, making our stay even more enjoyable since we are both dog lovers. We are hoping to come back one day!

Check in was a breeze, and the breakfast provided in the morning was above and beyond ! Wish we could have stayed here two nights but they were booked up ( and rightfully so). Would happily return some day if we were ever back in the area :)

  • Highly recommend this property. The hosts were awesome, the mini house was so cute. Loved seeing and hearing the cows. Close to town but out in the country.

  • Wow is one of many words that spring to mind. We drove up a beautiful driveway to see a stunning house with very cute self contained cottage on the side. Marian’s greeting was genuine, warm and friendly. She showed us around the cottage and took the time to recommend places to eat for dinner. When we mentioned we wanted to see the glow worms the next day she suggested an operator to take us (Spellbound) which was much more personal and less touristy. It was an excellent suggestion and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Back to the accommodation - immaculate, homely, well appointed and perfect for what we needed. Comfortable bed and sofa to sit on, great breakfast choice including muesli, cereal, toast and spreads, milk and yoghurt from their farm and fruit juice. A totally brilliant place to stay, we are only sad we couldn’t have stayed longer. Please stay here, it’s amazing!

All newly refurbished, we know you are going to enjoy your stay here. 4 bedrooms, bathroom and separate toilet, open plan living, dining and kitchen give the common room some space. We love that it's countryside but super handy if you want to pop into town for something.
This place is somewhere we've really loved putting together for accommodation. It's got two large bedrooms and two smaller ones that allow a family to stay with room to spare. With a full kitchen and fridge/freezer it's ideal for longer stays also as self-catering is nice and easy. We are 2 minutes away from the local supermarket for supplies or there are eateries in Otorohanga, Te Kuiti or Waitomo Village. Set alongside the Mangapu river there's a nice sense of space and peace. Comfortable pocket spring beds and nice linen should give you a great nights sleep ready for the next day. If you're travelling with a little one, we have a Steelcraft Portacot and a highchair that can be made available for you. The bathroom has a bath. Nighlight also included with a few standard infant items for your convenience.
A few minutes south of Otorohanga and handily located on State Highway 3 to base yourself for touring the area. Waitomo and Ruakuri Caves are 10 minutes away. Kiwi House is 4 minutes. Te Kuiti is 10 minutes. It's a great option for basing yourself in the area to explore places that are closer than you think. Golf courses, Caving, Kayaking etc.

My aunties were impressed by her hospitality from the personalised card, complimentary foodies including the jam, butter and crumpets. The house was very clean. The details you provided about the area were excellent. Many thanks, Sally!

  • Our stay at Sally’s place was lovely. Special attention to details made us feel welcomed. The place had obviously been recently renovated, was sparkling clean, and equipped with all you need: food for breakfast, a well equipped kitchen and even laundry detergent. Everything is there. There were three very comfortable beds in both rooms, and lots of commun space to share between four adults. It’s proximity to the main road made it easy to get to the caves. An absolute must see! We are so thankful for Sally to have welcomed us in her place during this challenging time of Covid-19. Giving us a home away from home meant the world to us.

  • Great location with all the conveniences for home living. Very spacious, clean and tidy and a great place to stay. We booked the studio, cottage and house for my wedding and was the perfect place for getting ready and comfy beds for after a long day. Great communication. Would 100% recommend to any travellers to the Waitomo area xx

  • We highly recommend staying in Sally’s cottage. It was super clean and comfortable, we could not fault it. Thanks for having us Sally! Bailee, Josh and Caleb

  • Small brand new house, very practical and very well equipped. Perfect location away from the city. The touches of attention and communication with Sally make the difference, I recommend!

    Benjamin2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • The location is very convenient to the Waitomo caves and Sally provides detailed responses to inquiries about activities nearby as well as any other questions. The place was very clean, with new amenities as well as a welcome package of NZ edibles and snacks and any special requests Sally can fulfill. Very convenient to main roads. Not much walking available on the property, but NZ is so full of trails and tracks you can work with it. Comfortable

  • Sallys accommodation is definitely Super Host material! This is the second time we have stayed here and again were blown away by the house. Super clean and her communication is on point. Thanks heaps! Looking forward to our next trip to Otorohanga.

  • A lovely spacious and well presented property.

    Peter2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Such a homely home away from home. Since we were bringing our one year old, Sally made sure we had everything we needed to cater for him. Less stress and away from the hussle and bussle. A perfect place for the perfect get away

Our Bristol Freighter Plane is one of the last allied planes that was flown in Vietnam. This plane is split into two motels: the cockpit and the rear tail. It is truly a one-off unique piece and there is no other such plane accommodation existing in the world.
It is for the true adventurer. One bed is located up in the cockpit and you must be fit to climb the steep ladder to access the controls and that sleeping area. As such the upstairs is more suited for fit children. Children MUST BE older than 8 years of age. This sleeping area can also be hot in the summer months. The upstairs bed is unsuitable for younger children or people with physical limitations. There is also a double bed on the lower level. There is an ensuite bathroom with shower and toilet, as well as a living/eating area with kitchenette. The kitchenette features a gas hob, microwave and refrigerator for light meals.
900m from glowwarm caves and local village
  • We stayed in the plane. It was spotless. So much fun, everything we needed and town is a couple of minutes away.

  • One of the coolest and most unique stays I've ever come across. Wish I would've stayed longer.

  • A special motel with really intersecting history. People who love the history of WW1, WW2 will deginetely find a lot of interesting assets in the check-in office and inter the motel. The host gave us great advice on the night activity and restaurant.

  • What a special place !! Blown away by the history this space offered and given the age and condition I was equally impressed with the cleanliness. Thanks for an unforgettable stay!

  • This is s fun place to stay. It's a little inconvenient to get there by foot if you have luggage, but still worth it. The nearby Cafe at the adventure company was great, as promised by our hosts, and the people there were very helpful and nice.

  • The staff at Woodlyn Park were good communicators and gave us instructions for check-in. There was always someone to contact 24/7z It was winter but there’s an air conditioner/heater in the unit plus individual/single/twin-sized heating blankets on the bed. We thought it was one queen sized heating blanket so my mum kept complaining it was cold under the sheets and I was boiling hot! The kitchen is very functional. The bathroom had a nice hot shower. The cockpit is amazing and I’d have slept in there except I think it might be hard for me to climb down quickly and easily in times of desperation, so I stayed downstairs. Great place to stay at while exploring Waitomo!

  • We instantly felt at home when we arrived. The guest suite is very homely and our hosts were very accommodating, especially when it came to our baby, who took to them like a duck to water. They gave us a high chair and toys and were very caring. Our stay was very comfy and we’ll definitely stay again next time.

  • Wonderful farm stay, quiet, beautiful star gazing and a good sleep. Super host, just like your old friends.

  • Nan and Neville are awesome and they have a beautiful place. We enjoyed sitting out on the little deck, looking out for Charlie the cat, the gang of ducks and the guinea fowl, hanging out in the cabin reading, walking around the beautiful garden, and eating the delicious and generous breakfasts :) A real highlight of our trip, we would definitely stay again.

    Laura2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely place, Nan was kind enough to show us around their beautiful garden and let our little one play with the ducks :)

  • Nan and Neville were easy to communicate with, accommodating our night time arrival with no fuss. The place was clean, the king bed very comfy, and the cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable weekend getaway from the city. Lovely to hang out with Charlie the cat and the ducks as well!

  • My friends and I were actually upgraded to the Hobbit House (also available on Airbnb) on arrival. The person who checked us in was friendly, helpful and informative, and the house itself was tidy, clean and well-equipped. It was a very unique stay (themed after The Shire from Lord of The Rings) and the whole park was very interesting (with its Vietnam carrier plane, old ferry and 1918 train carriage). I'd reccomend it for anyone looking for something a bit different!

    Joe2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Really different place to stay

    Gareth2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is just fun. Where else can you stay in a plane. Just some heads up: the plane moves a bit when there are other people in the front and there is a slight mechanical smell. It did not bother me and I had a great time but it could bother some people.

    Amie2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great night on the plane. The kids loved it! Ideal for one or two nights with the family. We also recommend the Huhu café, a restaurant located 2 minutes by car and making very good dishes.

  • We loved our unique stay in the Tail of the plane. It was very clean and the beds were very comfy. It had everything you needed and we were amazed at the fact we were in an actual plane. The host was very helpful with our late check in, and she was full of tips for us in regards to driving shortcuts and places to stop to eat. We would definitely recommend this stay to our friends as it was great value for the money we paid.
