Places to stay in Te Anga
Our property is located just 2km from the beautiful Marokopa Falls at Te Anga and 30 km from Waitomo. The house is on an elevated spot above the road. It is very private with beautiful views of the surrounding limestone bluffs and cliffs and overlooks the Marokopa river. If you are after a peaceful location in a rural area this is perfect for you. Please bring food for your meals with you as there are no amenities close the BnB. Toi Toi cafe is open from 10am over the summer for light snacks
My guest area is a self-contained space attached to our house but with its own separate entrance. It is a studio type layout with a kitchenette and separate shower and toilet. Guests also have their own balcony to enjoy our beautiful surroundings. The kitchenette contains a 2 burner hob and a microwave and fridge. All cooking utensils are provided. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and milk is provided to all guests free of charge.
Our property is also home to Toi Toi Coffee. The coffee shop is open from 10am daily and has a range of hot and cold food, ice creams, cold drinks and snacks. We also have the scenic Marokopa Falls and Natural Bridge within a few kms of our location. Both attractions are very popular and are a must see. The lovely Marokopa beach is also just over 15 minutes away.
  • Great place with beautiful views around!

  • The place is brand new and Paula and her sister were so kind. There was an issue with the warm water in the appartement but they let us use their shower and we received a refund. The appartement is very stylish. We enjoyed our short stay very much, wished we could stay longer.

Our home is nicely situated just off a quiet rural road with awesome views of the hills around us. The guest room is a private room outside of the main house, with a bathroom wash house and small camp style kitchen area only a few meters away. We are a 10-15 minute drive to Marokopa Beach to the west and similar distance to Marokopa Falls, PiriPiri Caves, and The Natural Bridge to the east.
This is a warm and welcoming family home. With three young children, all the chaos and wonderfulness that happens in a young family will be here! My husband and I are from GB and the US, but have been kiwis for some years. Our property was the home of the 1911 Marokopa Dairy Factory, which made butter and sent it up the river to many places all around New Zealand. We enjoy maintaining our home and property and look forward to welcoming you here. Our nearest place to get grocery supplies and fuel is in Otorohanga, an hour away from our house. So please be prepared for that! Basic camp style kitchen available for guest use, including 2 burner cooker, small fridge, sink, cutlery, plates, bowls, cooking pots, etc.
To get here: Drive past Waitomo, about 45 minutes to our house. On the way you will pass the Natural Bridge, the Piripiri Caves, and the Marokopa Falls. When you get to Te Anga (a blink and you miss it sort of place!), follow the road left towards the beach. We will be the first house by the road you come to on the left side of the road. Signposted 'Awamarino'.
  • Everything was perfect in what we expected from this place: proximity to nature, a simple life on the farm with the comfort of a large room and warm amenities. With the added bonus of a family welcome like only kiwis can do. Legendary.

  • Joanna and family were so welcoming. They have a piece of paradise in the mountains. It was a cool, stylish and different place to stay and we hope to stay again. There are lots of cool things to do in the area, we stayed 4 days and had places to go everyday. Great place for families! Thanks for the memories!

    Kate2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The place was cosy, homely and very stylish. We loved the shared spaces and Joanna's family hospitality. The farm animals and milking goats were a hit with the children. An evening walk on the beach was beautiful.

  • We had the most wonderful stay in a airbnb we have ever had before. The guestroom and the bathroom are just perfect and also Joanna and her family is so lovely! We really enjoyed it. Thanks for everything again!

    Selina2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Joanna and Simeon are great hosts. They've got a great farm life. Chickens, friendly dog (who will go on a hike with you), goats, and beautiful landscapes. This is a great place for low maintenance travelers. Warning: No mobile phone coverage (though there is wifi), and BYOCoffee. Thanks, Joanna and Simeon! I hope to see you again.

  • Sam’s place was so great! Perfectly located a few mins off the main road so an excellent option for accommodation while travelling around NZ and particularly on your way to Waitomo. CAVES. Super close to towns with all the shops you need, it’s a great place to crash for the night. The pictures also don’t do it justice. We thought the room was way nicer than we anticipated. Sam is friendly and super helpful too. Highly recommend.

  • Lovely place with reasonable price. Thanks for the great place !

    Arya2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Nice little self-contained studio with a large bed and a kitchenette - kettle and microwave. Not for grande cuisine but functional. The WiFi range was too weak for us and mobile reception is not that good. Actually a good thing for digital detox in this beautiful setting with a remote feel. They even have animals such as horses, which is nice too.

  • Our stay at Ann’s place was wonderful. Ann is such a lovely host, really knowledgeable, easy to talk to and so friendly. Our room was very nice, with a comfortable queen bed and an en-suite bathroom. Ann also allowed us to use her kitchen including her cooking utensils to prepare dinner which we thought was super nice of her. The next morning, Ann served us a delicious breakfast with cereal, toast, homemade marmelade and honey from her bees. Ann’s puupy dog Phoebe was around as well, making our stay even more enjoyable since we are both dog lovers. We are hoping to come back one day!

Our house overlooking the town will charm you with its warm exposed beams, cozy and functional ambience with breathtaking views of the town. Located 10 mins from Waitomo Caves and easy access to Marokopa waterfall, beaches, Mt. Ruapehu and Lake Taupo. About 1 min walk to the wonderful bushes and 5 mins to Kiwi Bird Park from our home and 15 mins walk to the town. Please park on our concrete driveway and not on grass as it belongs to our neighbour. People from all cultures are welcomed here :)
Our place is really peaceful as we have quite neighbours and we both are working so you will have the house to yourself most of the time. You can watch movies on Netflix in the lounge and make yourself at your own house. You can see most of the town from here and the lights of the town look amazing at night. We can provide you some space in the fridge if needed. Relax on the deck and enjoy the tui birds singing native songs on the trees. On a clear day you can see Mt Rupehu( Tongariro National Park) from our place. Our house has 1 bedroom for airbnb couple (max 2 guests) and there is also a separate room for more than 2 guests. If 2 guests need a separate room each they can either confirm before booking or book for 3 guests. Please park on our concrete driveway and not on the grass as its a neighbour property.
The atmosphere of our surroundings is really peaceful and quiet. You will feel relaxed after a long day. We love our little slice of heaven as the view from the deck is amazing and the nice breeze refreshes you. Lush green forests, native trees and lovely birds are here to welcome your stay!!

  • Ann and her husband has a very nice farm with various animals - ostrich, emu, donkey, horses, lama, alpacas, sheep, goat, a pig, dogs and a lot of lovely kittens. We and our kids enjoyed it so much. It was easy to visit the animals. Breakfast is great. Ann is genuinely hospital and helpful with local tips. We stayed in the bungalow, which may be a bit dated, but everything works. Good ambiance. Can only recommend.

    Steffen2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • As others have said, this place is a must if you are an animal lover. We were in the area to visit the glow worm caves, but Ann’s place could have been the destination. We visited for our two nights with our 3 kids (ages 4, 8, and 10) and they would have moved in if they could. Ann is a superb host and makes a delicious breakfast. She also had great local recommendations. The cottage is quaint, very clean and comfortable. There is a nice porch with a grill, and the kitchen has everything you need to cook in. We definitely enjoyed this unique farm stay and highly recommend!

    Francesca2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Ann's home is very welcoming and comfortable, and if I have a chance to come again, I will choose here again.

    Adam2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • If you enjoy animals then this is the place to stay! We were heading to the glow worm caves and needed a place nearby and Ann’s farm was a great fit for our family. The accommodations are comfortable and she had a fan to help cool the bungalow off. She gave us a farm tour so my kids got to get up close with all of the animals she has from ostriches to ponies. There were kittens and some dogs as well so my kids were very happy! Plus it is only a few minutes to the glow worm caves which was easy for us the next morning.

    Alden2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely brilliant stay with a toddler and two teenagers. Our toddler loved the animal tour, we could barely peel her away. Ann and her husband are super hosts who give a fantastic breakfast. Five minutes down the road from the caves and restaurants, Roselands BBQ was great and Ann herself owns a local cave which we didn’t have time to visit but we will if we get to come again. A super place, 100% recommended. The cats, dogs, ponies etc are super and we were sad to leave ! Perfect Accommodation with a great relaxed feel :)

    Rebecca2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place is as good as it looks. The animal show is well worth it, so make sure you’re there for 5pm. Very close to the caves and great host

    Jeremy2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • There are too many cute animals on the farm, and the children are very happy.

    2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • My kids love animals so this was the perfect spot for them. They really enjoyed the brand new baby kittens. And the dogs 🐕 , bunnies 🐰 , tortoise 🐢 , sheep 🐑 , pig 🐖 , emus, ostriches , alpacas 🦙 and llama. Ann is a gracious host. She makes a killer homemade breakfast.

Relax and unwind to the rural scenery while taking in the fresh countryside air. What was once an old Shearer’s Quarters is now a stylish self-contained cottage, with crisp white and warm tones, complimented by recycled finishings and a large outdoor shower. Continental breakfast is included with G.F and D.F options available on request. Enjoy staying a short 20 minute drive away from Waitomo Glowworm Caves and 10kms to our local township, Otorohanga. Instagram - @countryside.bnb
Countryside B&B is situated next to our house. Comfortably furnished with table and chairs, a queen bed, a small kitchenette equipped with an electric jug, toaster, fridge and microwave. No cooking is available inside however, we do have an outdoor fire pit for roasting marshmallows in the evening or a bbq for quick and easy meals. With a half bathroom situated inside, we have a large outdoor shower that offers fantastic rural views. Wifi is available along with a fan for hot summer nights, or a heater for crisp mornings.
Otorohanga is a friendly, small town with a strong community vibe. It’s safe and has lots of great things to do such as local walks, eateries and The Kiwi House. Otorohanga is also perfectly located and is a great base to visit some of the local attractions and regions close by.
  • Great little get away!

  • Countryside BNB is everything you could possibly need - and so much more. Emily was a great host and incredibly accommodating for our 18 month toddler. The continental breakfast was a lovely touch, as were the robes. Our favourite aspect though was meeting Emily’s family (including the pet pig and the cats). Would definitely recommend this location for a stopover before/after the caves.

    Caitlin2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved it! This space was so cool. We arrived to a sparkling clean, super trendy yet very homely little cottage. The outdoor shower was an absolute treat and a great way to end a 6hr drive. Emily and her little one came to say ‘Hi’, which really added to the feeling of being welcome. The house was spacious yet cosy and was a wonderful get away for a night. We will definitely be back here very soon!

    Liam2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved this place! Very cute and comfortable. Perfect for a couple traveling or two friends. We stayed after we visited the Glow worm caves. Definitely recommend.

    Neema2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very peaceful farm stay in a really cute bnb with everything you would need after visiting the Waitomo caves. The outdoor shower was great and so was dining out on the deck. Would definitely recommend!

  • Lovely place in the country not far from the glow worm caves. The downtown area was cute and a bit bigger than we expected. The place was really nice. I enjoyed the outside shower and the bath robes were wonderful touch. The internet was very fast. I would recommend that you stay here. The host is very quick to respond and is very easy to talk to.

    Berta2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely small studio. It has an outdoor shower, good quality toiletries and all the necessary amenities. The bedroom area opens to a cute verandah with outdoor sitting area and a bbq to use. Great for couple or single traveller.

    Guido2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay here, we only wish we could have stayed longer, it's such a gorgeous location! The cabin in beautifully decorated, and furnished with a cosy and considered feel. We loved dining out on the decking - under the stars for dinner, and then taking in the beautiful surroundings over breakfast (which was delicious) in the morning sun. Emily was a wonderful host, very welcoming and great communication. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Waitomo to see the glow worm caves as the location is ideal. We did the 'Kiwi Cave Rafting' (blackwater rafting) experience, which was great! Many Thanks Emily :)

Amazing location and pet friendly. You will not get closer to the ocean unless you are swimming ! Close to Waitomo Caves and Bridal Veil Falls. The 3 bedrooms may be small but the view is what you have come for. There is safe swimming and good harbor fishing. No free wifi until local reception improves, mobile coverage is limited but you can call/text/mobile data from the "Magic Spot" in the Bach. • Outstanding spot, a reminder of days gone by with the kiwi bach. Great place to unwind, clear your mind. Fantastic beach walks for dog. Will definitely recommend for a group get away, though on your own is bliss.

  • Once again a wonderful stay at Debach...it is the most beautiful place and met the needs of 3 generations brilliantly....Mel and Geoff are great hosts and Debach is just fabulous ...we were very sad to leave.

  • Well sometimes I stumble across a place which is so really great that I don’t want to share. Da bach is one of those gems. It has all the amenities but without being fussy. The location makes it hard to beat. The hosts do a great job! Well equipped for hanging out

    Christine2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Aotea is a peaceful little village, super dog friendly, which is a lovely plus. The bach itself has a great view with the sea set against rolling black sand dunes, and the enclosed deck is a sweet spot to eat a late dinner and watch the waves. We'd definitely recommend driving to the hot water beach in Kawhia - you don't often get to experience a beach like that so quiet.

  • Beautiful home with beautiful views. Great place to unwind and relax. Freaked out a tad bit upon reading the fact that there is a compost toilet after I’d made the booking but was pleasantly surprised that it was flushable. Very comfortable home right next to the water, coming from a busy city life it was the best place to unwind, have a few beers and catch up with friends. Extra blankets and towels were extremely convenient and so many different places to have a nap haha. 10/10 would recommend and will also be returning

    Tomairangi2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a brilliant location this is. We couldn't have asked for a better setting. This is a part of NZ we'd never been to before and it is very special. Would highly recommend you spend several days here, especially if you need your batteries recharged which is really easy to do in this quiet scenic spot, many thanks Geoff and Mel for sharing your piece of paradise with us, Peter and Jenny

  • Elle went above and beyond to make my birthday stay great. Her home is beautiful, warm and peaceful. Awesome value stay. I would definitely book here again!

  • Beautiful property with a very friendly host

    Varun2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Relaxing, enjoying. Lovely, unique place. Elle is so charming host. The only bad thing was that we didnt have time to stay longer.

    Virpi2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Elle is a cordial hostess and has everything in order. We felt at home there.

    Leen2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • If u seek sanctuary and u like a peaceful natural setting, with space and quality indoors as well, don't hesitate to book Elle's place. If you're not at all familiar with the area, be sure and communicate in advance with Elle about your needs as it is a small town rural area. I absolutely loved Elle's home and property. Get out of the car and beach walk, swim and explore Kawhia.

    Brandy2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice stay in a beautiful house. The host was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended this stay.

    Emilia2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Elle was an excellent host; she had coffee waiting for us upon arrival, fresh eggs for breakfast (from her backyard chickens!), a dog and cat who are kind and affectionate beyond words, and what’s more, she gave us some excellent recommendations for our upcoming trip to Auckland and tipped us onto a sulphuric hot spring at a nearby beach. 10/10 would recommend this lovely idyllic Oparau getaway.

  • Great cottage. Here you can have a good time. I can only recommend.

    Stefanie2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great location in your visiting the caves! So close and convenient. Wendy is awesome! And the space was a bigger than we expected while maintaining a quaint getaway atmosphere. Definitely recommended.

    Matthew2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in a very tidy Airbnb with lots of place. Also the breakfast was perfect!

    Patricia2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect stay! Quiet, clean, in the middle of nature but well located. A breakfast awaited us in the fridge. In short we recommend!

    Lisa2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay! The house looks smaller in the photographs but in reality it is spacious and has an excellent use of spaces. We were apprehensive about the fact that there was no stove in the house but Wendy has two electrical appliances for cooking. We couldn't ask for more, a calm space, surrounded by nature with all amenities, extremely clean and even toys for our baby. Thank you so much Wendy!

    Ana2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Cute place to stay on great scenic property but still very close to town & amenities!

    Nathan2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Tucked in the garden up on a ridge, this cottage has everything you need for a restful stay near Waitomo. Close to the town of Otorahanga, it was easy to nip down for dinner and come back to a lovely space in which to relax. There was beautiful fog in the morning if you're up early, and lots of beautiful cows grazing nearby. No wifi, but easy enough to get by without it for a short while.

  • Kay is a super cool host, very friendly and helpful. We loved the tiny house, it's definitely better than the pictures she showed. It was a great stay in Kay's place, and it's the best airbnb we ever had in New Zealand, wish we could stay longer.

    Linghua2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • The moment I stepped into the house, I never wanted to leave. Loved the color, style, and vibe! Plus it’s pet friendly! The outdoor spa made it even more perfect and relaxing. Definitely coming back!

    Miyay2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • If we could have given 6 stars, we would have. We've been using Airbnb since 2011 and we were amazed by Kay's guesthouse. Clean, comfy, lots of little touches that makes you feel very welcome, quick and easy communication. We should have booked more than 1 night for sure :) A great place for a getaway in the country and to just chill in the spa. We were travelling with our little toddler and we felt very welcomed and Kay's accommodated us perfectly with our needs. Thank you so much for a great stay at your nice Airbnb guesthouse.

    Sami2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Kay's place was a very modern very stylish little spot in the country side. I loved the beach themed and how everything matched, it was very trendy! Had all the amenities you need, even a washing machine to do a quick spot of laundry. TV had sky but do bear in mind you have to strain your neck to view so not the greatest for long term viewing. I loved how the beds were set up, my partner who's 5"11 managed to get up fine, just watch your head when waking up. Shower pressure was to die for and the owners have a gorgeous cat who we made friends with before leaving. Lovely little breakfast bar set up, overall the place was beautiful and we would highly recommend. Thanks Kay for your hospitality.

    Naomi2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Most amazing stay at Kays tiny home. Every detail of the home has been so well thought out and the style is beautiful! The spa bath is incredible! We will definitely come back for another stay!

  • An incredibly stunning tiny home - one of the best stays I’ve had!

    Bryan2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is truly a full 5 star hospitality. Everything we needed. It’s got stylish interior design, comfortable beds, space saving, jacuzzi, privacy. The host is super awesome and welcoming. Beyond our expectations. Once your checked in, you really don’t wanna leave. I wish that I could stay on longer. I’ll definitely be back again. 101% recommended. I’m very sure other guests would agree with me. Thank you so much Kay

  • This is such a gem! Our family loved our stay. The tiny house is incredibly comfy, super clean and so beautiful. From the moment we arrived we felt so welcome and relaxed. It is well designed with fantastic facilities. We honestly can't fault a thing, from the comfy beds and crisp linen to the spacious and modern bathroom and kitchen. The spa bath under the moonlight and the beautiful sunrise views from the bedrooms were such a treat. The host family made the stay even better, our kids loved hanging out with your girls, such a friendly family.

    Pauly2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A very clean unit with everything you need. Henry was a lovely host, ready to help with anything. He provided a BBQ and also some wonderfully fresh snapper - yum! Aotea is an extremely quiet settlement and very peaceful. The only downsides were that the unit wasn't right on the water and the bed is against the wall. We had a lovely relaxing time in a beautiful part of our country.

    Margaret2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Cool place. Great view of the sea and sand dudes from the deck. Cheers!

    Dylan2020-02-08T00:00:00Z

  • Sally’s place is an ideal location to stay at when visiting the caves. It had everything we needed. Sally was very welcoming and offered us eggs for breakfast too!

    Steve2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Sally is a very gracious host and good communicator. Enjoyed meeting her, the family and animals. Quiet space, very relaxing.

    Jeff2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • The studio is located at a beautiful farm (which was the main reason why we chose it). It is also close to Waitomo Caves, so it can be an option for those who visit the caves (including us :D). Sally and Chris were very welcoming and had perfectly prepared the studio for our stay. The studio is clean with enough room for one or two people and it was exactly the same as described. We were also offered a breakfast, which we would love to take if we did not have to leave too early :))

    Morgan2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was a very nice, quiet farm stay close to the Waitomo Caves. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was large, and the living room area was very nicely situated. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • A picturesque location in a clean and comfortable semi detached unit. Sally provides extra touches that are thoughtful. The animals are a bonus.

Clean cosy room in my gorgeous cedar cottage. Perfectly located to enjoy all local tourist activities and scenery. It is a small farm and animals do live on the property so some tolerance needed that I can’t control if the dogs bark at a possum, the cows are mooing or the horses are running around. It’s all part of the charm. Please enjoy the deck and million dollar view, so peaceful at anytime but especially in the evenings with only the stars above & crickets/cicadas/moreporks to be heard.
The guest room is a dedicated space with brand new bedding, linen and super comfy cluster puff mattress topper so that you can get a great nights sleep. My cat lives inside but has no access to the guest rooms (so please leave your door shut while you stay if you don’t want her snuggled up with you, although you are more than welcome to let her in if you want to), the dogs live outside and will only be free and running around when I am there. They are both friendly and enjoy cuddles if sometimes a little boisterous but there is no requirement to have any interaction with them. There are also cows, horses and chickens on the property. There is only one bathroom but it has good water pressure and plenty of hot water. There is a wide deck along 2 sides of the house, with the front deck having spectacular views of 5 mountains (on a clear day). It is incredibly peaceful at any time of day but especially in the evening so please enjoy your coffee or a glass of wine and soak it all in. There aren’t too many views like this. In late Autumn/Winter the log burner will be lit daily to keep the house warm and cosy. In the Spring I raise calves so you are more than welcome to help with feeding them.
Easy 15 minute drive to Waitomo, Otorohanga (10 minutes) or Te Kuiti means I am perfectly located for any of the areas tourist attractions, walks or local events (see info in your room for cheap booking sites which may be of use to you during your visit in Waitomo and also around the rest of NZ). If you are looking for things to do I am happy to share ideas for local attractions that you may or may not have already come across during your travels and research into the area. You will need your own transport to get to me and to travel around the area. There are great places to eat in Waitomo, Otorohanga and Te Kuiti so if you would like me to book somewhere (recommended as they do tend to get very busy during peak times and you won’t always be guaranteed a table by just turning up) I am more than happy to do so.
  • Great place, nice view, quiet. I liked everything!

    Yelena2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • At the top of a hill, superb view, especially in the evening at sunset, the lights are superb, very peaceful setting surrounded by animals, very kind and responsive host :)

  • Rachel’s description of “million dollar views” really does not do her property justice! We arrived at the golden hour and were immediately blown away by how beautiful the views were! Rachel is a fantastic host who gave us brilliant recommendations on where to eat and what to see, and even booked a table for us at dinner! The bed was comfy, the shower hot with good pressure, and there were some lovely little touches provided in the room! And to top it off - the cats were the most beautiful little pair we have came across in a long time! We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

    Harry2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place and gracious host!

    Jai2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely stay, Rachel was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The animals were very friendly (especially the free range chickens). The pictures don’t do the stunning views justice, one night wasn’t enough!

    Zofia2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Everything we Wanted! Rachel was so warm and inviting. We loved everything about her place, especially all the animals :-) Breakfast was an extra bonus, as we were very close to the Waitomo glow worms & it was a fantastic value. Great conversation too

  • Brilliant air bnb with incredible views. Lovely farm atmosphere, we were made to feel so comfortable in Rachel’s home and really enjoyed our stay. House is about 10 minutes up a gravel road so be prepared for country roads but the views you’ll get on the way up will be so worth it. No noise or light pollution and we could have spent weeks here. Thanks so much for your hospitality. Hopefully see you in a few years.

  • Rock Retreat is perfect. We stayed here between the Waitomo Caves and heading to Hobbiton. The location was perfect - just off the beaten path but close enough for a jaunt to town for dinner. The view is stunning. We thoroughly enjoyed catching the sunrise over the hills and devouring Biddy’s homemade yogurt and apricots. 10/10 would stay again.

    Catie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • One of the nicest BnB‘s we stayed in during our 10 week journey through whole NZ. Clean, tranquil, wonderful terrace with a hammock we loved, a bath almost in the bush, best tap water we ever tasted, a sweet possum said hello at night - and soooo comfy beds we slept very well in.... highly recommend!

    Martina2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Biddy and family were amazing!!! Not a single problem... If you want peace and relaxation this is it! I cannot remember have stayed at such a place with such OUTSTANDING & truly BEAUTIFUL views; waking up each morning to a view like that was awesome!!! If you want peace and relaxation you must check out Biddys place!!!... oh btw that have the most cutest dogs, whom are super friendly; we were lucky enough to have one of their dogs visit the cottage [of which is located in a nice private part of there property] several times which was cool... 10 out 10!!!

    Matt2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Extraordinary location, a place to remember. Lovingly assorted and presented breakfast. No Wifi, but this is a place where you forget the world anyway. As it’s solar powered expect not using hair-dryers.

    Christian2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very charming farm cottage beautifully decorated in a dreamlike landscape. You feel right there right away. Biddy's welcome is very warm and she has lots of little touches in store for us. The bedding is very good. Here no wifi (we limit energy consumption) but real coffee beans!

    Olivier2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Rock Retreat was so much more than expected. We had the best sleep since we left home and the energy was quite simply magical. I wish we had had at least another day and night. Step outside your box and have a wonderful experience including the loveliest puppy.

Escape the hustle and bustle; relax and unwind in the sleepy harbour town of Kawhia. An easy 2.5 hr drive from Auckland. Kahurangi cottage is the perfect accommodation in Kawhia from which to explore the area. You can drive to Waitomo caves in 1.5 hrs away along a scenic, winding road. Ocean beach is 5 km away, where you can soak in Te Puia hot springs at low tide. Kawhia is known for its annual Kai festival on Waitangi weekend and whaleboat racing on New Year's day.
Fresh, clean and cosy. A relaxing getaway. Fully self contained with good cooking (stove, oven, fridge/freezer, microwave) and laundry facilities. Heater and electric blanket for winter.
Kawhia is a special place, it is the spiritual home of the Tainui people and nestled in the beautiful Kawhia harbour. It is 5km from Ocean beach where you can enjoy Te Puia hot springs at low tide. Ask us for a spade to dig your own spa pool on the beach! There are some lovely bush and beach walks in the area.
  • The lovely cottage has a great viewing area and we enjoyed the stunning scenery of the ocean on one side and the hills on the other (choose whatever you prefer just by turning around a table :). The house has all the necessary amenities, plus a variety of cereals and coffee for a good breakfast to start your day. We were deeply touched by the warmth and hospitality during our visit and hope one day to come back to this magical place.

  • My partner and I loved staying at Kahurangi Cottage. We just loved the place as it was perfectly furnished and supplied, super clean, had an excellent bed and linens, and just so cozy and adorable. Upon arrival, you’re greeted by beautiful plantings, a white picket fence and potted flowers right at your front door. Character-plus! The location, the views, the cottage itself and all the amenities were just perfect for our weekend in Kawhia. It’s lovely and quiet, overlooking a rural view on one side and most of Kawhia on the other side. One of the highlights was watching a daddy quail and one of his chicks amble across the front deck, chattering away at each other! Kit and Di are lovely and friendly, and love hearing about your visit at the end of your stay. Can’t wait to visit Kawhia again and will definitely book in at Kahurangi Cottage!!

  • We were so glad to have the feeling of comfort and ease during our stay at Fiona and Leighton’s house. As foreigners we suspected we would have a hard time navigating the town of Otorohanga but our hosts were accommodating and helpful in guiding our group to what we needed. The rental space was plentiful and included lots of extra amenities to make the stay memorable. We loved the view from the back patio and were grateful to get to watch the sunset from the spa with our drinks in hand! Great value and perfect for relaxing.

    Tory2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • David and Haylee's place is incredible! The view is amazing and the space is very cozy. The shower is great (felt like being under a waterfall) and the bed is super comfy. Would definitely recommend if you have a car and want the option of being near enough to Raglan to enjoy the shops and cafes, but also far enough away to enjoy some peace and quiet with a beautiful view.

    Jess2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Off the beaten path and well worth it! We loved enjoying some time in the countryside—and with an incredible ocean view! A quick drive down to a quiet beach was certainly a highlight and included the opportunity to watch some surfers on the magnificent waves. Probably our favorite thing was grilling and then enjoying dessert on the viewing deck while watching a perfect sunset over the Tasman. Haylee and David were perfect hosts, and we wish them the best of luck with their winery!

    Jordan2020-02-19T00:00:00Z

  • A remote, coastal retreat off the beaten track. Private and stunning views with the beach, bush, hiking or town just a short drive down the back roads of Raglan away. The room and amenities are well attended to, tidy, clean and of quality. The bbq provides an alternative option for cooking in the calm evenings with the viewing platform placed perfectly for evenings of wine and sunsets.

  • Spacious, private, pretty cabin with lots of colourful touches inside and out. It's homely and comfortable and in a very peaceful spot. Wasn't sure how the outside shower and toilet would be but they were private, fine and fun to use. There's a fab hot water beach 45 minutes drive down the road which was great fun to build our own hot pool at low tide - thanks for the loan of the spades and also for the delicious breakfasts Rowena.

    Kelvyn2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Super cool location and great accommodation. Awesome place to stay! Rowena is an excellent host.

    Bill2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely my best Airbnb experience. Rowena was super cool in any way, and the charming cabin is located in a remote, quiet bush. It has unique stuff like outdoor shower, or wood fired bake ovens. We also loved the encounters with animals and plants there. One night wasn’t enough at all.

    Aki2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Rowena was a warm welcoming host and we recommend visiting Totara cabin to experience just what can be achieved by someone prepared to do that little bit extra to make their visitors stay more special.

    Stewart2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful setting. Excellent breakfast. Enjoyed our hot outdoor shower. Loved the stars, the river, the eels and the relaxation.

    Jane2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Rowena for your warm hospitality. Some special highlights of our stay were the fresh eggs in the basket, the personalized tour of your property and the most liberating shower ever! We truly enjoyed ourselves in your paradise. Good job and God bless.

  • Where to start? Hospitality: awesome. Dave invited us in and he did an amazing job making us feel at home. Laurel checked up on us, and made the most delicious breakfast. There were all these small conversations that made us feel so welcome. House: the room where we stayed in was super clean, as was the bathroom. It was big enough for the three of us. The house has an enormous yard, where our 2 yr old son loved to run around. But the best part: location. It’s so peaceful, with an amazing view, and only 20 min away from the Waitomo caves. We wished we stayed an extra night here, and will definitely come back when we visit New Zealand again.

    Kim2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible is an understatement. Thanks Laurel & Dave for sharing your home & valuable experiences of the local area. Every suggestion was spot on or above. Any guests who would love to live like a local with great company, this is surely the place to be.

    Patricia2019-12-22T00:00:00Z

  • Would highly recommend staying at The Neuk, especially if you enjoy a good chat with amazing hosts. Although it is 30 mins from Waitomo Caves, it’s worth it for the view and hospitality. The cats were adorable and the bed was very comfortable. Thank you Laurel and Dave for making us feel at home!

    Melina2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location for visiting the Waitomo caves. Offers a spectacular view and friendly kitty company. We loved staying here and wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you Laurel and Dave!

  • The best stay ever! Highly recommended. The view is stunning, and most importantly outstanding hospitality from Laurel and Dave! We were welcomed with hot tea and cookies after our Waitomo caves adventure! Laurel helped us to heat up our dinner. The bed was so comfortable, shower room was great and there were alot of thoughtful touches! (: Laurel even has great space in the fridge to store all our food and she gave us a Ice block to keep our cooling bag cold. You can't ask for a better host! The breakfast was great too, with hot coffee, hot toasts and pancakes, cereals and many jams for you to choose from! (: most importantly, Laurel spends time with us, shared with us local tips and stories. We really enjoyed our stay here!
