  • Beautiful place, very private. We went for my boyfriends birthday, came in and Nicola had left a bottle of champagne, a cake and a card for him along with some banners and balloons! Very thoughtful and lovely. we had no issues with communicating, place is clean and warm. Was much better than we expected. 100% do recommend x

  • This cottage was amazing it was really cosy had everything we needed and we will definitively stay again as it’s so close to both city centre and the beautiful Peak District we still have so much of to discover. We visited the town of Bakewell and has some lovely walks with our springer spaniel. Our hosts had thought of everything and responded quickly to messages. We literally can’t wait to come back a real gem of a find!

Special healthy outdoor space 5 miles from the nearest town. Our Mongolian yurt sleeps 5 and is very warm with a wood burning stove. In the Peak District hills opposite the Duke of York in Pomeroy, it has a seaside themed private underfloor heated bathroom and additional toilet. Guests bring their own bedding and pillows. Towels provided. Sorry no dogs
Fully equipped with wood burning stove, gas hob, kitchenette with crockery and cutlery, fridge and electric sockets. There is a double futon bed and three single mattresses on the floor. The yurt is only 16' diameter so it is quite cozy with five. Please bring your sleeping bags and pillows. Check out is 10 am except by prior arrangement. Please ask before arrival as it can often be later
The yurts are in a field behind Street Farm with a panoramic view of the hills. Near Parkhouse and Chrome, this part of the Peak District is near the border with Staffordshire, and also near the beautiful market town of Bakewell and to Chatsworth
  • Wow! I have never stayed in a Yurt but when I did at Rachels Yurt a few weeks ago I was blown away at the comfort and how warm the yurt was after lighting the log burner! I arrived around 6pm and lit the log burner (which was already ready to go by the host). It was very cold outside and pretty much a storm! I never thought the log burner would be so effective in the yurt! After only 1 hour it was almost like a sauna within the yurt! We had the door open. Rachel turned to to meet me after check-in and after chatting I relaised that I left my sleeping blanket at home. She went home and returned with pillows and a sleeping blanket for me to use! Such a nice lady and a great host! Rachel has another Yurt on her property which is even bigger for rent. This would be great for 6 people in comfort! These are clean, cosy and warm yurts with great hospitality.

    Richard2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely winter break! Really fast responses from Rachel who was great. The fire keeps the Yurt really warm and cosy!

    Lauren2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this yurt. Authentic, traditional Mongolian style which looks and smells great. The woodburner warms it up really quickly and keeps it really hot all night; the kitchen is simple but perfectly adequate; the bed is comfortable and we had a great night's sleep listening to the rain. We will definitely be coming back.

    Bridge2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Cool little yurt, hidden away with a lovely log burner.

    Jack2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful spot for a few days of tranquility!! Once the fire got going it was wonderfully warm, and we made a huge den with all the pillows. Don't forget to bring extra blankets to sleep with. We loved every little detail to the eggs, wine and brioche!! So lovely. The area is incredible, walks nearby, noun opposite, Buxton just down the road. Highly recommended!!!

Our lovely little cottage is about 200 years old. It's cosy and slap bang in the middle of some of the best scenery the UK has to offer. Excellent for walking, cycling or simply site seeing the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District National Park. Castleton is such a pretty little town with it's own castle, 7 watering holes (all dog friendly) fabulous restaurants and delightful cafes. We are situated between Bakewell and Buxton. PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT CHARGE FOR CLEANING YOU ARE ON HOLIDAY!
Our cottage is typical of the area, however, we have renovated it to a very high standard. You will have all the mod cons required these days with the feeling of living in a historical building. My back ground is tourism so I know what you want when staying away from home. This is a cosy little place and from the outside looks quite small, but inside the rooms are moderate in size, perfect for up to four people, 2-3 dogs depending on their size. The sleeping arrangements are 1 double bedroom and the second bedroom is classed as a small double with a queen size bed.
Our village is unique for the area as we have so much to do within walking distance. Caves to explore, hundreds of walks and cycle routes, pony trekking, pot holing, paragliding, hand gliding, fell running or sight seeing. All the pubs in the village are dog friendly. We are in the shadow of Mam Tor in an area known as the Dark Peaks. Our valley is called Hope Valley and is a basin with undulating hills all around. It really is spectacular. The pubs serve excellent traditional British pub food and plenty of it, with real ales and Gin clubs. 1530 is a fantastic Mediterranean restaurant with a great wine list. There is currently free parking and public car parks around the village.
  • Beautiful cottage with a lovely, homely feel. Beautiful decor and features, with everything you could possibly need. Fantastic location in a great little village! We didn’t want to leave!

    Jase2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Marianne's cottage excels in every conceivable aspect. The cottage is very pleasant to be in, it is cosy, well furnished, with decent amenities. It is in a wonderful location - views of Mam Tor and the ridge just outside the windows, and on a quiet lane in Castleton, 5 minutes walk from the restaurants and pubs. Marianne herself was very communicative and able to answer any questions I had. Her cottage is the perfect base for walking/hiking around Hope Valley, or for exploring the villages of the valley. I would choose to stay here if and when we return to the Peak District. Brilliant stay.

  • We stayed in Marieanne's cottage for 4 nights and would have loved to stay longer! The location was great, Castleton is a lovely little town, and the cottage is within walking distance to everything you would want/need. The cottage itself is clean, super cosy and very nicely decorated, has so many unexpected extras full of hints and tips on the area, DVD's for rainy days/cosy nights in and tasty treats. We would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone

    Alex2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Marieanne’s cottage has the wow factor and is beautifully presented with superb attention to detail, with everything you need to feel at home. It is situated in a beautiful and quiet location, so you can really have some time to relax and within walking distance to everything you would want/need. My cousins and I fell in love with Marieanne’s beautiful home and 100% would stay again.

    Jaskiran2020-03-07T00:00:00Z

A stunning listed mill tucked away on the edge of Hathersage, Derybshire an idyllic village in the Peak National Park. The Music Mill pays homage to the buildings musical heritage as an intriguing location for making the first gramophone needles in the UK.
The indulgence you need after experiencing the Peak District outdoor adventures on your doorstep. The Music Mill wows you, as you enter through the old workers entrance, into the stunning open plan living area. Enjoy the cavernous, social space; cook a feast for family & friends, catch up in front of the log burner, have a film night with the blue ray/DVD player or relax a while in the originally styled bathroom. For our younger guests (or the young at heart!) we have a games console with a small selection of games. The Mill is hidden in the Derbyshire hills, by a stream at the edge of Hathersage Village. The Mill keeps its Victorian industrial appearance on the outside but now has contemporary comfort and decadent design on the inside. The quaint village of Hathersage is within 5 minutes walk of the Mill with a wealth of history .... The brother of Charlotte Bronte's school friend Ellen Hussey was vicar of Hathersage. In 1845, Charlotte stayed at the vicarage preparing for the return of the vicar and his wife from honeymoon. She spent weeks exploring the moors and the houses scattered among them. These, and the chiming church clock, all became part of her famous novel 'Jane Eyre'.Outlaw Robin Hood is said to have been born at Loxley, just eight miles from Hathersage. His lieutenant, Little John, is reputedly buried in Hathersage churchyard, in a grave measuring 11 feet from headstone to footstone. Hathersage train station is in 5 minutes walking distance of the Mill. The village is served by a public transport service. Manchester Airport is the nearest airport and rail travel is available from the airport to Hathersage.

  • Six of us had a super time at the Music Mill celebrating my Mum's birthday. The house is really well equipped for dining in and the location a stone's throw from Hathersage was perfect for dog walks from the door and a pub trip or two. We really appreciated all of the thoughtful touches - from the tea, coffee and biscuits, to the board games, speaker and luxurious towels. We would very happily have stayed longer!

    Jenna2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a luxurious place! Great for relaxing and a perfect location for some fabulous Peak District walks. The nearby Hathersage Social Club comes highly recommended for food (if you don't want to cook in the exceedingly well equipped kitchen). We will hopefully return soon!

    Angus2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Music Mill, the pictures are beautiful but it’s even more stunning in real life. It’s situated in a lovely village and it was perfect for going on long walks and coming home to retreat to the fire! There were plenty of nice restaurants too. Thank you Jo for one of the best stays I’ve had. I would recommend to anyone and hope to come back again!

    Meera2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful space. Perfect for a group of friends/ family. Spacious, very comfortable with cosy rooms and beautiful views. Hathersage is a lovely village and there are great walks directly from the mill without the need to drive. We had a fabulous time

    Wendy2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location with walks on your doorstep and a short stroll away from the centre of Hathersage. The Music Mill offers everything you need along with beautiful interiors. Would highly recommend for a family or group of friends.

  • What a place! Three generations of my family thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful house in the stunning countryside. We had everything we we could need at the house and anything else could be found nearby. The hosts were great with communication and offered so many little touches to help us through our stay. I would definitely revisit and recommend to anyone. Thank you so much!

  • The Mill is a beautiful property situated in the delightful small town of Hathersage. Our family group of 6 adults and 1 child stopped over for 3 nights and the property comfortably accommodated us. We were impressed with the cleanliness, accuracy of description of the property and the little extras left to help us settle in. We would be happy to recommend the Mill to anyone considering a stopover in the Peak District.

  • A wonderful location and a perfect property for our University reunion (8 adults and 8 kids) The location is close to some incredible walks (we went to the Goyt Valley) and being joined to the Devonshire pub was perfection for Friday and Saturday night! We all ate there on the Saturday night and we would highly recommend that. Thanks Fiona for being a great host. Arriving to supplies in the fridge and homemade brownies was a great touch. The description of the property is accurate and fair - we all had a brilliant weekend.

    Alan2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona's place is really fantastic for a large group of people. The photographs dont do it justice and I would not hesitate to recommend. The location is also beautiful. Thanks so much!

    Victoria2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona was really helpful before the booking with really thoughtful touches such as brownies and Prosecco. Pub next door had good pub food with very good service, great place to stay

    Alan2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here with a stag do group of 12, the property was clean and had plenty of bed to go around. The kitchen was well equipped and the complimentary brownies were much appreciated! The property is above/next door to a pub and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Location was perfect, about 20 mins into Buxton - £15-20 in a taxi.

    Alexander2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great space for a big group of friends! Fiona was great at a quick response for all our questions. There is so much kitchen equipment etc. to accommodate all. We had food at the pub next door and not only were they super helpful and great with a big group, the food was delicious! We visited mam tour one day, a short drive away! And went to Buxton another day which was a lovely town (We had food at buxton brewery which was also great and accommodated a big group well, but we had to preorder food) Recommend a visit at this Airbnb for a big group of friends.

    Alys2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • A very good location. Ideal for a very large family with plenty of room for everyone to be comfortable.

    Amanda2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed with a mixed group of 14 for a stag party with no problems, and had a great time over the weekend at Fiona's place. Plenty of parking, rooms and beds to choose from. Kitchen supplies were a nice touch, milk, butter, bread, and the brownies were amazing! All areas of the house were utilised, including the pub as people split into smaller groups doing their own thing during the evening. Modern TV and WiFi meant we could set up some music and games. The house is in a great location, as the team activities I had arranged were only a 20 min drive away and were also enjoyed by all. Finally short people can have a good laugh as the tall people 'mind their head' up the stairs by the entrance and navigate the house of doors! But very spacious overall. Thanks for accommodating us all.

  • Lovely spot in Taddington within ten mins to Bakewell and Buxton. Homely relaxing place to stay, would highly recommend.

  • This is a really lovely well-equipped cottage with everything we needed for our short break. The house is clean and there is plenty of storage space too. On our arrival there were 3 logs in the basket (although one was too big to fit in the wood-burner) so we could have a fire straight away. The garden really is quite small, which didn’t bother us as it was October so not really BBQ weather! The location is great for exploring the Peak District and Bakewell is less than 15 minutes away which is great for shopping. We didn’t try the pub in the village so I couldn’t comment on that but there are lots of nice places to eat locally. I’d recommend Lyme Park for a day out (especially if you are a Pride and Prejudice fan) and walking or cycling the Monsal trail is great if you have kids with you. The bike hire shop at Hassop has a lovely cafe too.

150 year old cottage situated in the heart of the village of Taddington, close to the 14th-century church St Michael & All Angels Church. Taddington is located mid way between the world famous market towns of Buxton & Bakewell

Taddington is a village, located between Buxton and Bakewell, in the Derbyshire Dales district. Taddington grew around farming and quarrying for limestone and lead. From 1863 to 1967 the village was served by the now disused Millers Dale railway station, some 2 miles away. The village's main attractions are Five Wells chambered tomb topped by a cairn, and the 14th-century church, with the remains of a 7th-century Celtic cross in the churchyard. The two-metre cross shaft is decorated with an unusual chevron-based pattern. It was at one time used to support a sink in the wall of a nearby public house. A further possible cross base lies in the churchyard. Fields around the settlement show evidence of both Celtic lynchett terraces, and of Medieval strip farming. Taddington has two pubs, The Queens Arms and The Waterloo. In 2009 The Queens Arms opened a convenience store in the pub's pool room. There is an annual well dressing, in August, focused on the "High Well", unusually lying above the village.

  • I recommend this cottage to anyone.Such a wonderful stay, Sharon was so helpful. The cottage was so inviting, and great for Christmas... I recommend this host and cottage for people wanting to explore the Peak District with a home away from home.

    Lorraine2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Sharons place in the Peaks was absolutely perfect. We had a wonderful short stay and felt very at home.

    Camilla2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is just what you would expect from a building of its age. Not for the fainthearted in winter, but perfectly placed for a peaceful getaway and easy access to the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. Sharon was a wonderfully thoughtful host, leaving supplies enough for a hot drink when you arrive. There is plenty of scope for self entertainment if you want to stay 'home', and loads of local information to give you ideas of what to do and where in the surrounding area. With all the mod cons, this is a home from home, suitable for a short or slightly longer break for small parties or families. Oh, and there definitely is a smoke alarm fitted!

    Carol2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • It is lovely place in a great location. Extra clean and tidy with elegant touches in every room. I totally recommend this place

    Navid2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely host, great place to stay, perfect location right in the middle of the peak district. The accommodation has everything you need, its like being home from home. Extra heating was provided as well as electric blankets, the host provided us with the essentials, bread, milk, ect... (thank you) on arrival. There is a pub in the village but no convenience store. The nearest we found was a morrisons just 10 minutes up the road. We hope to be back next year :)

Great place to relax and unwind with great footpath links to the Manifold valley, Wetton with Thor’s Cave and Milldale just down the road. Away from the hustle and bustle, this quiet spot has far reaching views both to the North and the South. There are local pubs and shops just a short drive away and public footpaths from on site.
Accommodation is a one bed annex with open plan living, dining and kitchen with separate bathroom and bedroom. Includes tv, DVD player, hairdryer, four poster double bed, dishwasher and full self catering facilities. There is no outside space to use with the booking, except one parking space directly outside the cottage.
The well known walking destination Hartington is the next village along, with a variety of shops, cafes and pubs, not to mention the huge number of walks and trails for an outdoors adventure.
  • Charlotte and her family gave us a wonderful warm welcome at Elm Cottage. The stay was perfect for our requirements, in a lovely peaceful area with astonishing views across the White Peak. Despite being so tranquil, it was also very close to some lovely pubs and villages. Highly recommended. Carl Morris

  • Can't fault our stay at all! Perfect location for walking in the peaks and very close to attractions like Bakewell, Dovedale, etc. Accommodation itself very quiet and tucked away. Super cosy with an extremely comfortable bed and all you need after a long day hiking. Charlotte was very friendly and helpful with local recommendations and great communication. Would definitely recommend :) Thanks Charlotte!

The Bunker is a quirky retreat for outdoor lovers with the beautiful Peak District right outside your door. A self contained space with private entrance. Excellent walking in all directions right from the doorstep. A old fashioned English pub 300Metres away with real ales and log fire.
Other things to note There is a village shop selling essential supplies in Longnor, a Post Office/deli, 2 cafes and a fish and chip shop (1 mile away). The Pack Horse Inn is 1 mile walk away (closed Mon/Tue) with other pubs in Earl Sterndale, Longnor, Hurdlow and Hartington. Nearest town Buxton is a 10 minute drive away. The Bunker is well equipped for 2 people, don't expect 5 star luxury, but if you fancy a comfy bed, log fire and the country side on your doorstep with a traditional pub a few steps away, then book with us. The Bunker has its own entrance, a sofa bed, log burner with a skittle of coal, sticks and firelighters included. We provide fresh bed linen and towels, kettle, mini fridge, microwave and cutlery and plates. There is a shower and toilet. A short drive away, the historic spa town of Buxton provides both culture in the form of the Opera House, and practicality in the form of the Waitrose supermarket, which is open until 8pm. There are wonderful hikes right from the doorstep to the dramatic peaks of nearby High Wheeldon and Parkhouse Hill, or on to Chrome Hill and the Roaches beyond. The quiet, local roads and the Tissington and High Peak Trails provide more gentle routes for cyclists or walkers in inclement weather.
  • This is a very quirky but superb find! Location is second to none and Paul is an A1 host with superb information before we arrived and great touches like the fresh milk and welcoming beers in the fridge. Would def recommend but if your over 6’ you might have a problem as it’s a very low roof 😀

Paul very kindly showed us the best spots and drove us to the nearest pub for dinner. We could definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quite escape to the Peak District!

Paul was very quick to answer any questions and provided tips for local amenities and walks. He also came in person to check everything was ok as it snowed on our second day. It was a perfect birthday weekend.

  • Very nice cosy place in a great location. Some heating issues initially but Mo quick to respond and address - very nice host. Lovely view and it's a separate area to the rest of the house so complete privacy. Decor somewhat dated but adds character if you like that. I liked my stay here and would stay here again.

Mo was friendly, efficient and helpful whenever he could be. Just a heads up for anyone looking to go in to Buxton via a taxi – it’s about a 10-15 min journey and costs £20.

Who needs a telly?! Will definitely come back in warmer months and sit outside on the bench in front of the accommodation after a lovely long walk, with a glass of wine and watch the sunset. Lovely friendly host. Thank you.

  • Little Barn is a lovely place to stay and really great value for what it offers! The hosts were very welcoming, helpful, and kind. The kitchen is very well equipped, and the bathroom (plus a second extra toilet) was sparkling clean and the shower is very spacious! The entire space was very well heated even when we were visiting in winter. The location is lovely, with some views just as you walk out of the driveway. And it's in the middle of the Peak District so easy to explore anywhere from here. Just remember to bring bedsheets, duvet/sleeping bag, and towels! The bunks in the bedroom took me back to my school camp days, very quaint! The bedroom is spacious and can easily fit the luggage of six people (there are six beds total).

Panoramic Views: Cosy up next to the log burner or pamper yourself in the wood-fired hot-tub under the stars. This fabulous, cosy barn conversion is compact, bijou and perfect as a romantic retreat for two. Gaia Lodge, a former piggery, nestles in an elevated position on the Derbyshire and Staffordshire border which falls within the southern area of the Peak District National Park. Gaia Lodge boasts panoramic views of the undulating countryside, dotted with natural hedgerows and dry stone walls; so characteristic of the Derbyshire Dales. It can be found 165 yards away from the family run caravan and camping site of Upper Hurst Farm, which has been awarded the coveted Environmental Quality Mark award. The warm, gritstone cottage has been renovated with much love, with exposed Douglas fir King-post trusses, stone flag flooring and a log-burner for cosy nights in. Logs are provided free of charge as is WiFi. Inside the Cottage: The cottage is lavishly furnished with hand-made linen curtains and blinds, goose-feather & down pillows and duvet. We also have Egyptian cotton bed linen and towels, fluffy dressing gowns and a mini-breakfast hamper on arrival. It is enhanced further by fully controllable underfloor heating for toasty toes! The kitchen has a granite worktop with quality fixtures and fittings and modern appliances, including a dishwasher. There is a stone-flagged seating area with a westerly aspect overlooking Ecton Hill which includes a washing line. Outside the Cottage: There is a small, gated and walled garden with a north-west aspect where you can enjoy the last drop of evening sun. This garden leads to a further completely private, decked patio area (south-west facing and becoming a little sun-trap) with a red cedar, wood-fired hot-tub, to provide a truly special and memorable stay. Within the decked patio area there is also a gas-fired barbecue and seating with sun-loungers.
"What a little gem – in every way. Sue has created a relaxing and luxurious little retreat. The lodge is beautifully and lovingly decorated and furnished. Sue has thought about your every need and equipped the lodge accordingly. The hot tub is absolutely fantastic – especially during November. Sue is so kind and generous and there to help if needed but not in any way intrusive. The local walking is stunning and there are plenty of places to visit locally including good pubs and restaurants. Sue – you should be incredibly proud of your glorious lodge. A high thank you from us both xx" - John and Steph - Derby
We are very rural and in the centre of a Derbyshire Dale (1 mile) and a Staffordshire Dale (1 mile) so there are walks and cycle rides immediately from the site. We are also very central within the four major Peak District market towns of Buxton, Bakewell, Ashbourne and Leek all about 10 miles away. Chatsworth House and Matlock are about 12 miles.
  • Had an amazing time here. Lodge was amazing and the hot tub was lovely. Definitely would come back again.

  • We stayed at Gaia Lodge for 4 nights in February with our 10 month old daughter. We had a great stay, it was cosy and very clean with everything you could need for a trip to the Peak District. The location is great, close to public footpaths for walks and the Manifold Trail to cycle. We loved the hot tub and went in each night, it’s also lovely to have a log burner in the lodge when it’s cold outside. Sue is a lovely host - she couldn’t have been more helpful.

Susan was a great host, showing us around when we arrived and explaining how everything worked. She is clearly passionate about making people feel welcome and sharing this special space with newcomers. I would definitely return!

  • Really enjoyed our stay at the cottage, perfect space for 2 people with a dog! The cottage was easy to find, in a great spot for walks and super cozy in cold wet and snowy weather. Jenna was a flexible host who was easy to contact and ensured lights were left on for us to find the house ok as we arrived very late. Perfect last minute getaway to relax and unwind. Would stay again!

  • A lovely cosy cottage which is perfect for a couples getaway. Great amenities, included a slow cooker and toastie maker as well which was a good surprise! The hairdryer was very powerful which was great for my thick hair. Great location if you want walks right on your doorstep. Convenient car parking space right outside the front door. Lovely personal touches which included a delicious cake, eggs and milk. Communication was excellent with Jenna and replies were incredibly prompt which made conversing very easy. Thank you very much and we can’t wait to come back ☺️

  • Nice location, decent man made tipi

    jay2020-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • This tipi is delightful, so much bigger than expected, the kettle, lamps and fairy lights make it so homely and all the lovely bean bags make the space comfy and inviting. We were very comfortable inspight of the bad weather, the fire was good warmth (smokeless coal is a must) and we were very well protected from the wind and rain. We very much want to visit again in good weather!

    Pippa2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our one-night stay at the tipi! The smokeless coals were great and kept it warm all night. (Bring cash if you need to purchase fire wood etc.) Comfy camp beds and some extra blankets too. There was a kettle, mugs and plug sockets, all you need for a night of camping. Cheers Mark!

    Becky2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic little place

    Mathew2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • So many more amenities than I thought there would be: a kettle, mini firelighter stove and plug sockets! Everything was thought of. Very cute and homely inside and lovely location for an escape. Recommend 100x over! Would stay longer next time to fully enjoy the area

  • Great place for an escape from it all, proper Tipi surrounded by countryside. Perfect shelter after a day spent hiking in the hills.

    Jonny2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • I immediately fell in love with this cosy, unique space. The inside fire makes it possible to stay there in the coldest of weather and we even managed to cook a simple meal on the fire. An electrical supply is a bonus and we kept the fairy lights on all night. Mark has replaced the outside composting toilet with an inside chemical loo, which was very convenient. Make sure you take toilet paper! Lovely touches like animal skins on the beds for extra warmth. We took sleeping bags and a duvet and were toasty all night. Beware though: everything you take will smell strongly of wood smoke afterwards. I thoroughly recommend this place for getting away from it all.

Coming to see a show in our world reknown Opera House - having an exciting outdoor pursuits weekend or simply a relaxing break in the beautiful Peak District, then why not stay at our Garden Rooms? We've pulled out all the stops to ensure our newly-installed, purpose designed Airbnb apartment is the ideal accommodation for a holiday in the area, what's more, we have all the facilities for the business traveller including fast WiFi , fax and printing facilities.
Yes it's a modest abode, but it's in an outstanding location and we love to share it. To that end we have worked hard to design and create a special, purpose-built self-catering space in our home for you to enjoy. You will have a spacious bed-sitting room, king sized bed, smart / satellite TV and phone charging facilities, a well equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and a super bathroom. all accessed through your very own door from your private patio. What more could you need for a really great visit to the Peak District? - what's more your hosts are close by to offer any help or guidance you require.
The Garden Rooms are situated 15 mins brisk walk from Buxton Rail station on a long quiet cul-de-sac close to many moorland and farmland footpaths so if it's peace and quiet you're after you've come to the right place. If its restaurants and night life, theatre and cinema that tickles your pickle, its all at the bottom of the hill. Buxton is well know for its events especially in the Summer. The Pavilion Gardens hosts many events such as antique fairs and other shows. Parking is a doddle right outside the house, a bit more problematic in the town centre.

    Seren2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little place perfect for a couple of nights. Bit far out of Buxton but would’ve been easy to walk if the weather had been better for the weekend. Kitchen was well equipped but no frying pan, not a big bother though and the lighting in the bathroom was amazing. Altogether a comfortable and lovely trip away.

    Jas2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place was so nice! Right across from a field with sheep and fully equipped for a stay and a cheap cab into town!

Rambler Cottage was completely renovated in the summer 2019. We think it is about 200 years' old with lots of character. The cottage is situated in a conservation area of Bradwell in the rolling hills of Hope Valley, Peak District National Park. The village and surrounding areas are breathtaking. Castleton is a 30 minute walk away or 5 minute car drive where you will find the infamous Mam Tor. You won't fail to have a relaxing holiday here, unwind and recharge those batteries.
You are booking the whole cottage with a private garden front and back. You will have your own key to come and go as you please and unless you want to see me you won't be bothered your entire stay. There are two double bedrooms, 2nd is a double bed but classed as small double. There is a log burner in the lounge for cooler nights and the cottage has central heating. The kitchen is fully fitted with all the gadgets
There are two good pubs walking distance from the cottage. An excellent chippy, bakery, Post Office and Co Op convenience store. You are also walking distance from one of our favourite restaurants in the area The Samuel Fox. There are so many walks right from the front door. I’ve put an information pack in the cottage and there are lots of leaflets on places to go, see and do. There are also local maps for all those lovely walks.
  • Very lovely cottage. Marieanne was very helpful and accommodating. Easy access to walks in the peaks like stanage edge

    Ish2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a treat this cottage is! Stylish, comfortable, every detail well thought out! Spotlessly clean! The location is perfect for exploring the High Peaks. We loved every minute of our stay! This really is an exceptional place to stay - we cannot wait to return to the area or any of Marieanne's creations.

    Donna2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is lovely and cosy. It’s a short walk to Castleton and perfect for exploring either by foot or driving around the area. Marieanne is a lovely host and the little touches of leaving dog towels for our lucky pups was much appreciated. We loved coming back in the evening and curling up in front of the log burner as well. Would definitely book again with her. Thank you

    Lisa2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • BOOK BOOK BOOK! From the moment we booked Ramblers Cottage for our minimoon, we knew we had picked the right place! Marieanne was quick to respond and gave us all the information we needed prior to arriving. The house itself is BEAUTIFUL and spotlessly clean! The finishing touches (I won't spoil the surprises) were thoughtful and sweet and really made us feel special. Even Ginny (our cockapoo) was catered for, with a few dog towels! We had an amazing time at Ramblers Cottage, its within easy reach of some great walks to explore the Peak District. Castleton is literally a 5 minute drive away as is Hope Valley. This is the best Air B&B we've stayed in and is truly a gem of a find! Thank you Marieanne for making our minimoon perfect!!

    Amye2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage in an amazing location. Marieanne was so understanding when we didn’t arrive until a day later as the weather was so awful! A really well equipped place to stay. Wonderful to have little touches like a local pork pie and bottle of wine to welcome us!

    Katy2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic cottage, very cosy and if you’re lucky enough to be able to book take advantage. The bed was the most comfortable bed ever.

    Lee2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic host and fantastic cottage! We will 100% be back in the future. The cottage is stylish, charming, cosy and lots of thoughtful touches there such as wine, chocs and treats for the dogs!

    Rose2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful cottage in a great location! Marieanne was a brilliant host, from outstanding communication, to top tips for our stay, and some lovely welcoming touches when we arrived. We would highly recommend staying at this lovely, cosy and beautifully decorated cottage.

A pleasant cosy room in a terraced house in the centre of Buxton situated on the edge of the Peak National Park.
A cosy and comfortable room containing a king size bed with a firm mattress. Why a King size bed in an average size room? The answer to that is, I'm afraid I am useless with a tape measure!! It can be a bit of a squeeze getting into bed but there is lots of space to move around once your in :) Lockable bedroom door. All bedding and towels are provided. There are tea/coffee making facilities in the room. The bathroom: (shared with me) is right next door to the bedroom. Please note there is only a hand held shower in the bath and it is not designed to be a wet room. There is a smart TV in the room. Amazon prime and catch up TV is available but not regular programmes. If you decide to watch a film or series that does not have prime next to it on the menu there will be a charge for rental made by Amazon. Wifi is available so bring your lap top or iPad along with you. You are welcome to help yourself to breakfast cereals, yogurts and toast in a morning and use the dining table, plates and cutlery etc at other times to eat take away meals or to sit and have a drink. You can also use the microwave Outside space: you are able to use the outside areas. When the sun does shine it tends to be at the back of the house in the morning and at the front in the afternoons. I must add Buxton isn't favoured for its sunny weather!
Buxton lies just outside the National Park boundaries. There are lots of places to walk and explore with the Goyt Valley close by and Grinlow woods almost on our doorstep. Buxton is an old market and spa town nestling among the surrounding Derbyshire Hills at a height of 1000ft making it the highest town in England. It is often referred to as the Festival Town of the Peak District. My home is close to the Buxton Opera House, Pavillon Gardens and Art Centre, Serpentine Walk, Buxton Museum and Art Gallery, Pooles Cavern and Solomns Temple. There are a variety of micro breweries, bars, cafes and restaurants in the town.

A 'real country cottage' with stunning views over the surrounding countryside - perfect for walkers, mountain bikers or anyone who enjoys the great outdoors. Enjoying a delightful , elevated position, off a single track lane above the village of Peak Forest, this beautiful, cosy cottage is decorated to a high standard with oak beams and a stone floor, a farmhouse style kitchen and a comfy lounge with WiFi, satellite tv, and an electric log burner.
Adjoining the owners’ property, the cottage has been furnished to a high standard throughout and has a heavily beamed interior. A perfect base from which to explore the Peak District National Park. There are numerous fabulous walks from the front door and one of the deepest Peak potholes, Eldon Hole, lies close by. The fabulous village of Castleton and it's caves are 4 miles away, as is the beautiful Spa Town of Buxton with it's many restaurants, bars and a wonderful Theatre. There is a village pub 15 minutes’ walk away and many more country pubs within a 10 minute drive, as is the delightful market town of Bakewell.
The cottage sits in a very rural environment with a working farm the only neighbour. You really are staying in the heart of the countryside, at the top of a bumpy lane and no street lights!
  • Amazing location and a perfect hideaway. Character cottage with lots of charm and sparkling clean. Great hospitality from Ros and a special treat to have visits from Mouse the dog. We’ll definitely plan to go back again.

  • One of the best AirBnB's we've stayed in over the last few years. Fantastic location for walking out to Edale and Mam Tor, nice private cosy cottage with lots of extras to feel at home. Good kitchen with all the bits you need to cook dinner/lunch. Very cosy and comfy bedroom & lots of extra touches so you only really need to bring clothes & shoes to be honest. Milk, coffee and biscuits when we rocked up. Recommend bringing a few DVD's for the evening to relax. Great AirBnB, can't recommend enough.

  • 5 Stars from us! This is a charming, picturesque cottage situated amongst the magnificent Derbyshire dales in the Peak forest. Perfect for keen hikers being close to Kinder Scout, Mam Tor & Cave Dale. The cottage is full of character with a lovely, warm, relaxing and homely feel to it. Just what you want to come back to after a long walk! We arrived on Valentine’s Day and had roses in every room & a welcome tray which was a really nice touch, thank you Ros & Paddy. We would both highly recommend this cottage, even for a relaxing break away. It has everything you need and more 👍

Wensley is a hamlet in Derbyshire, England. It is located 3 miles (4.8 km) from Matlock, on the B5057. Chatsworth is 17 minutes drive away. Haddon Hall 20 minutes. Wensley is rather unique and is one of only a handful of Derbyshire villages whose names have Pagan origins. The village takes its name from Woden, the Norse God of War and there has been a settlement here since pre-Anglo-Saxon times. This `Sacred Grove of Wodan` is described in the Domesday Book of 1086 as `Wodnesleie`. It was known as `Weddenesley` in 1240, `Wedunsleye` in 1330, and finally recorded as Wensley in 1446 The villagers in Wensley were employed in the lead mining industry in the fields around the village in the 18th and 19th century. Situated in the Peak National Park, it is surrounded by rolling countryside. A great area for walkers and cyclists, or to simply relax in the quiet sunshine (sunshine not guaranteed ;>) http://www.aboutderbyshire.co.uk/cms/places/wensley.shtml

I live in an end of terrace Victorian House, The bedroom is on the 2nd floor at the rear has views over to Corbar Cross and the hills. The living room has sofas, wood burning stove, and a table and chairs for breakfast or takeaway food. Dishes etc provided. I have 2 extremely friendly cats who are not allowed in the bedrooms but may stop and chat.
There is a large stone terrace with a bread oven, bbq, table & chairs and a swing seat which you are free to use weather allowing. If not, I have sledges instead !!! There is a fruit garden and depending on the time of year, you are free to help yourself to redcurrant, apples etc. We have regular visits from sniffling Hedgehogs looking for juicy slugs in the garden but you have to be up quite late to hear and see them. All the rooms have Victorian Rim Locks so you can lock your door if you feel the need. I don't have TVs in the bedrooms but, if you bring your laptop, I have a big DVD collection and Netflix. I also have Fibre Optic Broadband available. This listing is for one room with a single bed. The other rooms are on separate listings. The price is per room but also per person as the bedding changes and breakfasts are per bed and person and I do not have a service charge.

Comfortable 3* accommodation in the unspoilt village of Taddington, set in the heart of the magnificent Derbyshire Dales, midway between the ancient market town of Bakewell and the famous spa town of Buxton.
The accommodation comprises: living room with exposed beams and log burning stove (logs provided); a bright kitchen and dining room; spacious hallway; one double bedroom with en suite bath/shower room. There is a peaceful private area outside with views over the fields. All utilities are covered.
This is a great location for walkers. There are footpaths to popular destinations such as Millers Dale, Monsal Dale (where cycles are available for hire to travel the converted Midland railway route),Cheedale and Lathkil Dale, as well as many other paths linking villages and ancient sites. A few minutes walk up the footpath by the cottage takes you to High Well where there are spectacular wide ranging views of the area. For people who like to explore with a car, the cottage is a short drive to the stately homes of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall and is conveniently located for visits to Lyme Hall, Hardwick Hall, Calke Abbey and Kedleston Hall. The village is bypassed by the A6 and the majority of traffic is local as well as agricultural as it is a working village. Taddington has two public houses which serve locally brewed ales.
  • A lovely cottage in a quaint village with easy access to Buxton and Bakewell. The cottage is clean and has all items needed, great kitchen and comfy bed. Loved the fireplace and having everything there to use it each night. Some great walks from the house. Judith was easily contactable and friendly. We would stay again.

  • We had a brilliant time at this lovely Cosy Cottage. It's a perfect location for so many walks and attractions and set in gorgeous scenery. Quiet, peaceful and comfy, we loved returning to a warm welcoming home at the end of each day. Judith has thought of everything and is a caring host from start to finish. I would very much recommend a visit here.

  • An absolutely wonderful cottage to escape to the peaks in! Close to all the places you could want to be (Bakewell, Buxton etc) but still in the peaceful countryside! We had terrible weather some of the time but the cosy cottage was great for snuggling up and watching some movies! We met Judith on arrival and on departure, she helped us with everything and was lovely and friendly, even asking how warm we like to be so she could set the heating for us! She left us to it the rest of the time, but when we messaged asking for the heating to be turned up due to the unexpected cold weather she messaged instantly and the heating was on within minutes!! This place had everything you could possibly need for a relaxing break, whatever your plans are! Do not hesitate to book this place!!

Hargate Hall is in the Heart of the peak district and offers self catering accommodation. The Hardwick apartment is on the first floor, has a double bedroom, bathroom and combined dining, sitting and kitchen area. It also has an open fire.
Originally built as a very large house, Hargate Hall is now divided into 12 apartments which are let out individually or together for holidays, to contractors working locally, and for parties and weddings. (for parties and weddings you have to book the whole place, so don't worry, you won't turn up and find that you are in the middle of somebody's wedding!) The apartments range from 1 bedroom to 3 bedrooms. All the apartments have electricity meters which take £1 coins to pay for heating, lighting and other general power (hot water is not metered). All is charged at cost, and really depends on heating requirements.
We are in a very rural location. This makes us great for a true escape to the country. This does however mean that a car is more or less essential for the trip to the shops or the pub (the nearest of which are about 3 miles away)

  • A calming and cozy space. I love the gas "coal" fireplace, I've never seen one before (where I'm from they're all gas "log" fireplaces). Love the view of the train bridge out front, the kitchen has all the basics. Nice big shower. My friend and I were planning to do some walks in the Peak District but it was stormy, and we had to mitigate crumbling travel plans due to coronavirus, but I hope to be back during a less hectic time! Thanks so much!!!

    Jessica2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was fine. I didn’t mind not having tv at all for few nights. I enjoyed the fire place and games. It was nice and warm over night as well. Highly recommend!

    Mina2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Chose Jonathan’s place as I’m working at the opera house. Really lovely, clean and spacious flat! Close enough to the centre and the gardens to walk and only a couple of minutes drive if you have a car! Conveniently located Morrison’s at the bottom of the hill for petrol and shopping! Thought the kitchen in particular was lovely and modern!Only cons being there was no microwave which would’ve been useful for me to heat up left overs and no WiFi although this didn’t really matter as I was only there a few nights but if I was staying longer that would be crucial for me! As mentioned in other reviews the shower isn’t very powerful but is nice and warm, clean and big! All in all really nice clean, spacious and cosy flat perfect really to explore Buxton if you’re wanting a nice place to rest your head.

  • Great apartment, fairly spacious, clean and tidy. Very friendly owner. Overall very nice space and great experience, only one minor thing to mention but is not necessarily the fault of the property, the water pressure in the shower was very low but other than that no issues.
