Studio Apartment with private entrance parking in front with room for boat/trailer. 1 queen bed and 1 rollaway bed if needed.Close to fishing, boating, beach, 8 miles from historic Beaufort. Boat ramp on Harker's Island Rd approx 5 miles away. Cape Lookout National Seashore aprox 8 miles. Rustic simple apartment with basic amenities such as towels, sheets, pans, glasses, coffee pot kcup single etc. Side by side refrigerator/freezer to keep those fish in till you head home. Full size stove/oven.
(You are in small studio apartment next to me but completely separate) Character is everywhere in this rustic cute Studio Apartment. Antique Primitive Cabinet from the 1800's/ Antique dresser aprox 100 years old/ an olde beveled shaving mirror and an antique bar with tin singing angels embellishing the front are some of furniture to enjoy. Loveseat style sofa and rolling comfy office chair are downstairs and sit down vanity with hair dryer near upstairs 1/2 bath. Take a trip to the past but enjoy modern conveniences such as ROKU app TV and now wireless internet. Blue Bear Studio is located in a country setting so encounters with wildlife/insects are possible. Concrete parking area for car or boat in front of unit. Expect our coastal water to have a strong mineral taste..no public water system down here. Well water has no chlorine! I like this but everyone is different. Filter on kitchen faucet. Welcome to the coast.
Smyrna is one of many older fishing villages in the 'inner' Outer Banks of North Carolina. Many of the residents still speak with an English/Southern 'brogue' or accent left over from colonization by the English ships many years ago. There are master decoy carvers here and you can find examples of this and 'banks' life at the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum in Harkers Island. Fishing and hunting are popular as well as historical outings from plundering past pirates to military forts. We are located on the Coastal Scenic Byway which also means we are not in a large town. Lots of water birds and aquatic dwellers nearby but closest town (Beaufort) is 8-10 miles away. Definitely a coastal country get away!
  • This is a HUGE studio apartment. Who ever heard of a studio with not one but 2 bathrooms? Crazy, right?! Blue Bear is a fun, kitschy, rustic, laid-back place perfect for me and my 2 dogs. The location is ideal for visiting Fort Macon, Cape Lookout National Park, Beaufort and Morehead City. Nearby are quaint "general stores" and a lovely antique shop that has a quality selection of decoys at great prices. The hostess is the BEST. Very available and helpful but not obtrusive. I would stay there again on my next trip Down East.

  • A super-comfy room with many extra treats and amenities. There were snacks and a coffee maker and hot water maker in the room, but we barely touched them as there was coffee prepared in the mornings and a huge gourmet breakfast! If you are there on one of Patricia's "off" days she will personally cook your breakfast for you, but if she is out she will leave a full spread for you, and you can cook your own eggs, fresh from her own hens! The view out the back over the water is beautiful and there are lovely homes all along the water. A wonderful weekend and an outstanding value! We made new friends and hated to have to go home after two nights here!

  • We went to the area for stargazing, not realizing you had to stay on the islands for the best "dark park" experience. But we stayed at Patricia's and it was perfect. The house is warm and welcoming, very clean and cozy, and she and her husband were so helpful. We stargazed in their backyard, on their private beach, and it was perfect. They are close to the ferries and to several towns, and the room is comfy and clean. We felt right at home! But the breakfast....OMG...I was not expecting such a spread! Patricia offers a menu, has all the fixins, and bakes the most delicious bread. It was such a delight and afterwards, you can go outside and feed the goats, geese, chickens, peacocks, etc. Our bathroom only had a tub, so if you were staying more than one night and wanted a shower, you would have to use the outdoor one, but we were island bound so didn't mind this at all. Overall a great stay!

  • My first Airbnb stay. Much better than I expected. And wonderful host.

    Sterling2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Patricia was great! The bed was very comfortable, the view of the water was spectacular. I truly enjoyed the breakfast spread and drinking my morning coffee overlooking the water. They were very thoughtful and we loved being able to have our dog!

    Sam2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place! Patricia went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and make sure we had everything we might need, and her home is just fantastic—the house, the setting, the water, the animals! Can’t wait to come back!!!

    Sarah2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • I can't say enough good things about Miss Pat's hospitality and home! They were SO welcoming and accommodating to me. I felt like family very quickly. I was lucky enough to stay at the Gloucester House for 3 1/2 months as I had taken short term contract work in the area. I can honestly say it was the perfect location. The bed was very comfy, the outdoor shower was perfect, the kitchen was a delight to use, Miss Pat and Terrell are like family, and oh my goodness the breakfast is to die for! The wifi is strong, the room had a great selection of amenities like a coffee pot for lazy mornings, or a hot water boiler for tea, little snacks and some wine. There are several animals around the property all of which are very sweet. The secret to Dukie (the dog) is a quick back scratch and he'll love you forever. They all love Miss Pat, but Dukie and Mr. Evil (the cat) take turns vying for lap space in the evenings. The chickens are laying eggs and they make for a great breakfast treat and the goats, geese and peacocks are all fun to watch. The house and yard is beautiful, the kayaks are a lot of fun to use in the creek, and it's really close to the ferry for Shackleford Island and Cape Lookout, both are worth visiting. I can't think of a better place to stay and look forward to visiting again one day! Thank you so much Miss Pat and Terrell! Xo

  • Tons of amenities, lovely location, and very pet-friendly. Our gracious host could not have been more welcoming - she had many tips on things to do and even made Indian dishes (dal & aloo sabzi) as part of a huge, breakfast spread! Would love to stay here again on a future trip to OBX.

  • Patricia's B&B is a great place to choose for a vacation especially if you just want to rest and recuperate from The Busy Daily Grind of life. Just imagine grabbing a cup of coffee going out and sitting on the balcony and just listening to the sounds of nature. That's all you hear you do not hear cars or buses or any noise except for the beautiful sounds of nature. And when you pack all you need to pack is just yourself and your clothes nothing else! Patricia has thought of every little thing that you possibly might need or want for the trip. The rooms are stocked with all kinds of goodies, a basket of snacks, tea, coffee, hot cocoa, wine. Also included in the rooms is a small ice chest and towels for the beach. I was amazed that Patricia took the time to think of everything that a single person or family would need for a nice vacation. And her cooking is absolutely awesome she fixed me some very nice breakfasts with a bowl of fresh fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice, and eggs just the way I like them. It was a very restful vacation for me and I am going back next month!

  • It was a great place to stay. The host was great, kind and sweet. I camp for a week and the outdoor shower was best shower I have use anywhere. All the animals were cool to see. The view from the land side to the water was pretty cool to see

  • I can't recommend enough Patrica's place. I spent there 2 nights, in a tent. The outdoor shower has hot water, breakfast is amazing, Patricia and her husband are very nice and helpful. I met great people while staying here. The animals are friendly and lovely. I will definitely be back!

    Martyna2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • The location of this property is absolutely perfect. We were able to set up our tent at the waterfront from which the views couldn't be better. We did enjoy the company of the wide variety of animals that live on the property (goats, chicken, goose, peacocks, dogs, cats, ...). Patricia is a wonderful host. Make sure you don't miss out on her breakfast! After breakfast, we made use of the two kayaks that are available to guests. We'd definitely recommend staying her either in a tent, RV or in one of the rooms in the house.

  • Patricia is a great hostess! She is very prompt to answer messages and was accommodating to our requests! She used to own a gourmet restaurant, so her breakfasts were amazing! She certainly makes you feel like family! She has a lovely home that looks like it’s straight out of a Nicholas Sparks film. The outdoor shower that we used (since we parked our camper outside) was very clean and very nice. Upon arriving at her home you are greeted by some of the sweetest animals (chickens, goats, peacocks, etc.), and it was just absolutely a blast. I’d recommend anyone to stay here and have a great time! It’s a great place to stay and an incredible value! We hope to come back!

    Joseph2019-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot by the water. Pat was very thoughtful and the breakfast was great! I loved the outdoor shower and all the animals on the property. I will be back to visit!

Lovely 5th wheel camper with separate master bedroom, and another separate bunk room for kids or other travelers. There is actually room to sleep 7 comfortably. Gateway stay to the "real Down East." Quiet and private. Close to Harkers Island, Beaufort, Morehead City, approximately 30 minutes to the Cedar Island Ferry to Okracoke. Ideal location for those who are traveling the loop to see the Outer Banks. Convenient access to the Harkers Island Boat ramp. We do have a dock, tide depending for great Kayaking around our area, or just sitting back with a couple of lawn chairs and watch the incredible sunsets!
Small kitchen within the Camper with a decent size refrigerator. There is a couch that sleeps as a double bed with use of a good air matress. There is also a fold out cots with matresses for additional sleeping areas. Queen size Serta mattress in the master bedroom. We do have storage for motorcycles if covered parking is necessary. Plenty of room for vehicle parking close to the camper, as well as room to park a boat with trailer!
We have a great neighborhood. Quiet with nice neighbors too. We have recently purchased our 2 acres back in December 2017, and are making improvements to the land and the main house. Hurricane Florence destroyed our wonderful 240 ft dock, so there is no longer access to that. We do plan on at some point getting another, but due to extreme cost for such a long dock, its gonna have to wait unfortunately.

  • Dawn and Andy are great host. This was my first experience in an RV/Camper and it was a wonderful experience. Breakfast was delicious, very clean, very spacious, had everything we needed and even somethings we didn't have, they made sure we got. I will stay here any time I am on the coast. Southern Hospitality at its finest!!!! Highly recommended.

  • Great place to stay, great value.

    Jamie2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Other reviews are accurate. Good sized travel trailer in private location and fairly quiet neighborhood. Dawn and Andy are outstanding hosts offering homemade bagels and biscuits for breakfast - just let them know the night before. I was here to dive local shipwrecks but can see how this would make a relaxing basecamp to soak up some genuine southern hospitality. I will definitely return and highly recommend.

  • Our family of 6, including 4 kids, were VERY happy with this place! We loved the location and especially the seclusion. We were here for 4 days, and found that it was convenient to the sound side of Harker's Island and an easy drive towards the Atlantic Beach area; it was close to several gas stations/convenient stores as well. The accommodations were nice and many things were provided, like coffee, toiletries, linens, Wi-Fi, cable TV, and a grill. Dawn was very sweet and pleasant, as well as helpful - she always answered questions quickly. The fresh breakfast every morning was a huge plus, and equally delicious. The sleeping arrangements suited our big family and offered plenty of room and even adult privacy with the separate bedrooms. We would definitely stay here again and again!

    Jessica2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great accomodations! Dawn and Andy are very tentative if anything is needed or if you just have questions. Breakfast delivery is an amazing treat! We can not wait to plan another trip downeast. We highly recommend saying here.

The one-bedroom apartment is on the ground floor and clean and ready for vistors to Harkers Island. Fifty yards from the water's edge this apartment is in a residential setting with a restaurant close by. Beaufort NC is 14 miles away. Above is a second apartment where the owners currently live. The ferry service to Cape Lookout, the beaches and many recreational activities, is two miles away and access to the banks every 30 minutes.
A private outside covered area with chairs, a table and BBQ is great for the cooler times of the day.
Between the apartment and the sound are private houses with a boat launch facility next door.
  • Lovely, clean, simple but spacious (3 rooms + bathroom) and very comfortable apartment; perfect for our getaway to Harkers Island for the weekend. Tollan left breakfast treats for us in the kitchen and provided thoughtful and quick responses to all our questions. Lovely people and a lovely spot - 4 minutes from the ferry! Will stay here again the next time we go to Harkers Island.

  • The rooms are spotlessly clean and Tollan is super helpful. We were also pleasantly surprised to find a box of croissants and some bananas for us on entering, our breakfast for the next day was ready! Would love to come back and stay again, to enjoy the serenity of Hakers Island.

  • My family can’t wait to come back again! It was perfect for us. So many thoughtful touches that made for a great stay and personally greeted at arrival. The bed and pullout sofa were so comfy. The apt is immaculately kept and the decor was unique. Great location to the Harkers Island Ferry! We were able to walk to dinner, the ice cream shop and little island store. Nice breeze from the water comes to the peaceful sitting area outside with chairs and a glider. We hope to have a longer visit next time! Thank you Tollan and Cathy!

  • Marty is a Jack of All Trades! He knows this history of Beaufort & Fort Macon & won't mind giving you the low down on it, as he is super knowledgeable. He knew tips on where to park to avoid fees, where to eat & what to check out, museums & even shortcuts! His little humble abode was built by himself & aboslutely cozy. Waking up to the sunrise & falling asleep to the sunset made every morning & evening everything I was looking for in a trip. He is thoughtful & attentive to guests needs & even added a personal touch that awed my heart while my brother & I stayed. Wish we had more time to chat as Marty is not only an incredible host but truly an incredible person! 10 out of 10 would book again & recommend ☺

Our one bedroom coastal cottage is located on our property and conveniently located to the southern Outer Banks and beaches, historical Beaufort, and within an hour drive of historical New Bern. The full sized sofa sleeper in the living room pulls out to sleep additional guests; porta crib and high chair are available upon request. Cable TV is provided. The kitchen has a stove/oven, refrigerator, microwave, some small appliances and fully equipped with pots/pans, dishes, etc so you can either do your own cooking or grilling while enjoying the views from the front deck (don’t miss seeing the dolphins play in the water) or dine out and enjoy the great restaurants and amazing local caught fresh seafood cuisine that the area has to offer. The property has access for boat parking.
Our neighborhood is quiet and family oriented. All own their homes here. Our street is a dead end so children can ride bides, skateboard or play safely. There is no thru traffic, it’s a safe and peaceful place to visit.

Our place is on the water (Core Sound) and a 30 minute drive to Atlantic Beach and 20 minutes to downtown Beaufort. The recently renovated Yates Cottage was designed for spectacular views of Core Sound and Cape Lookout Lighthouse with large windows on 3 sides and a screen porch. It is great for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), joggers, walkers, bikers, and boaters. Your beds will be made with freshly washed sheets and one set of bath towels per person are provided. Enjoy!
  • Wonderful quiet place to relax, enjoy the amazing view and explore the area from! It was a good proximity to quaint town of Beaufort and for exploring the Cape Lookout Lighthouse. The cottage was a clean and cozy place to play games, read and enjoy watching the birds outside. I would certainly go back again!

  • This is a fantastic place to get away from everything for a few days. The views are stunning and the cottage provides a great atmosphere for getting unplugged for a while. Reasonably close to Morehead City and Emerald Isle if you do want to find some fun activities, but we were content just hanging out on the screened-in patio and taking in the views. I would definitely stay here again!

We are on the Island that is unique from many others. It is the headquarters of the Cape Lookout National Seashore that stretches 42 miles up the coast. It has the history of being an isolated Island where folks made their living fishing and building boats. There are still many boat builders on the island that build small and up to 50 and 60 foot boats one plank at a time. They are craftsmen and you can drive around the island and see and maybe meet some of these folks if you are so inclined. You will note that folks from the Island speak with a dialect of English that sounds more British than southern. They have a downeast brogue that is natural to them. We are the one's who talk differently. They are very friendly and hospitable and that is one of the reasons we love the Island. Be sure to look up on the web about the National Seashore and also the Core Sound Museum. There are three great restaurants on the Island, two are a quarter mile down the road, the other you passed on the left just as you came onto the Island.
  • The stay was exactly what we needed. It was clean and close to the ferry. No complaints from us! Brad and Suzanne were very quick to respond to any questions we had. Not gonna be a 5 star, but definitely exactly what we needed!

  • A nice old cottage, nicely decorated, set in a nice non-touristy town. A good place to stay if you’re getting off the long ferry from Ocracoke and don’t want to drive too far. I plan on coming back sometime and go out to Cape Lookout. That ferry departs from the end of Harkers Island. Thanks so much for sharing your cozy abode.

Wake to the call of osprey and sip your morning brew as the sun rises over the creek. Go chicken-necking for crabs or watch pelicans plop before you explore the creek on one of two kayaks. With 4 spacious bedrooms, you can bring the aunts and cousins, too. Enjoy meals and relax on the huge screened porch overlooking the spectacular water. Read books from our stocked shelves, play board games or cards, put together puzzles. Or write that story you've been putting off. Have fun!
On our private dock, you can toss a small net, put out a crab pot, or dangle a chicken neck and haul in the catch. On a high tide, you can take your small boat all the way from our dock to Cape Lookout. You can also paddle one of our kayaks and explore the upper creek. If you don't have a boat, we're only minutes from Harkers Island and a ferry to the cape. Who knows? You might see one of the big turtles in Turtle Bay or a pod of dolphins cavorting in the sound. This is one of the most gorgeous places on the North Carolina coast. Out fishing all day? There is a fish-cleaning station out the back door and a charcoal grill so you can cook what you catch and then carry it to the screened porch to watch the sunset as you eat. No luck on the water catching dinner? Well, we're 10 minutes from Harkers Island and 20 from Beaufort, where dining choices are abundant. Sleepy Creek Cottage is kid friendly (there's a swingset and playhouse). We're also a smoke free facility. We have an outdoor shower for use after a day at the beach or out on the water. Board games, movies, WiFi, and a huge back and front yard are also available.
Sleepy Creek Cottage is nestled among big old trees on private land, not far from Cape Lookout lighthouse and downtown shopping and cuisine. Our guests come for the peace and they come for the fun--and then they never want to leave.

Small camp centrally located in Marshallberg, just a short walk to the community boat ramp. Planning a beach vacation, hunting party, or just a relaxing weekend at the Crystal Coast; check out "The Net House". Renovated this year but has the authenticity and "feel" of a cozy beach cabin. Ready to get away from the hustle and bustle, come see us!
Unique opportunity to experience the "Down East" way of life. Located approximately 15 minutes from Beaufort and 20 minutes from Morehead City. 10 minute boat ride over to the Cape Lookout lighthouse where you can climb the lighthouse, walk our gorgeous pristine beaches or checkout the ponies on Shackleford banks. Bring your boat, park the boat and trailer in front of the house and launch at the boat ramp located less than 1 mile from the house. Only 10-15 minutes from some of the best local restaurants serving fresh seafood year round. We offer a comfortable place to stay at a reasonable price so you can enjoy all the Crystal Coast has to offer. At "The Net House" you will have access to the entire cabin. This includes 3 bedrooms, 1 bath, common living space, small dining area, and kitchen. The kitchen is fully stocked with a coffee maker (Keurig and standard), pots, pans, plates, silverware, full size stove, and refrigerator. There is also a full size charcoal grill available for use. 2 bedrooms have queen beds, the 3rd bedroom has a set of bunk beds. There is also a futon in the common area which pulls out into a full size bed. The bathroom is newly renovated including a full size bathtub / shower combo, sink, and toilet. "The Net House" was built in 1875 and therefore does not have central heating and air. There is a window unit in 2 of the bedrooms and a larger unit in the common area. This is sufficient to cool the space. During the winter months there are small electric heaters in each of the bedrooms with a larger unit in the common area.
Small quiet neighborhood, a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. You will find that that walking, bike riding, and golf carting is the norm. People wave, say Hi, and never meet a stranger!

    William2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • The room was very nice, with a lot of character. Sarah was an excellent hostess, and her dog is very friendly. When it turned out some of our plans fell through due to the hurricane that had come through a week or so before our arrival, Sarah had ideas on things we could do, which turned out great. We would definitely recommend staying with her.

The master bedroom offers a comfy king size bed and the bedroom downstairs has a comfy king bed. There is also a sleeping couch (twin size) on the screened in deck if you enjoy the enclosed outdoors! :-) -We love the kiddies, but do not have a crib. Enjoy your music on the deck, in the bedroom or living room, or in all three! -Singles, couples, families welcome. Kid-friendly. Drive to Marshallberg Harbor and see the lighthouse in the distance. Great at sunset! Fun and interesting things to do, all within an hour's drive (max!)
  • Ronnies place was everything I was looking for. Secluded, quiet, and relaxing. The house and all the little touches made it really feel like home. Wish I could have stayed longer.

    Julie2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great host and great house. House was very clean and had everything we needed. Host was responsive and easy to work with. My kids loved playing outside and feeding the ducks. We will be back!

    James2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is nothing short of amazing! Perfect getaway for my family and I as we were in the area for the seafood festival. More than enough space, extra linens, spices and many more things. The kids really enjoyed the ducks and frogs/tadpoles in the pond. Nice secluded area with plenty of privacy and space. Will definitely be coming back! Thank you!

    Kevin2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • The listing is exactly what it says it is. It is clean, spacious, great amenities and great price for the place. Ronnie and Melissa have everything laid out nicely and even a bowl full of things to do and places to eat!

    Heather2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great space and would recommend to other travelers!

    Byron2019-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • The house is really as in the photos. Not in the photos are the beds - huge and comfortable. It is a very quiet place. Great to look at the sky in clear nights. It is also a bit of a drive from most places, but this was a good compromise for us. There are lots of pots, pans, all you need to cook. The kitchen was nearly as good as being at home, minus the oven, but it's noted in the house instructions so we were ready for it. The WiFi is still struggling to get back to pre-Florence condition, but there is a 2G service which is sufficient most of the times for basic browsing, not during thunderstorms. The television selection was great! Netflix and Amazon Prime, we managed to catch up with British shows we had abandoned years back. There are also lots of board games, and we tested a few, mostly complete... much better than having teenagers with their faces glowing blue on the phone.

  • This place was exactly as advertised. There were no issues from beginning to end. Velvet and her husband were very knowledgeable about the area and provided easy conversations. We loved being greeted by the friendly chicken each time we arrived. This is a great place to stay!

  • Velvet goes out of her way to make guests feel welcomed. We loved how the home was spotless and fishing in the pond. The location is fantastic and we enjoyed getting away from the tourism and to the real North Carolina living. This is why we hope to someday move there! Thanks again Velvet!

The entire home, including the dock, is available for use during your stay. The house has a wide wooden ramp in front, outside as well as inside stairs to the second floor, and a large downstairs bedroom, as well as three bedrooms upstairs. And there's a covered carport for unloading in the rain.
Sleepy Creek Cottage is nestled among big old trees on private land, not far from Cape Lookout lighthouse and downtown shopping and cuisine. Our guests come for the peace and they come for the fun--and then they never want to leave.

Built over 200 years ago, the Chadwick House is furnished with period antiques and all modern amenities, including Internet, wifi, and satellite tv. A free public boat ramp with parking is 1/2 mile away at the Harkers Island bridge. Or from Harkers Island take a 10 minute ride by ferry to Cape Lookout. The pristine beaches of the Cape Lookout National Seashore are world renowned for the wild ponies, shelling, fishing, and abundant wildlife. Check Youtube for Cape Lookout videos.
  • This is a really charming place to stay, especially if you're planning to spend time out at Cape Lookout or Shackleford banks. It's very convenient to the Harkers Island ferry. The house itself is really charming, with the most interesting collection of knick knacks and the best spice collection of any airbnb you will ever rent. Harold is very easy-going and responsive, and makes check-in and check-out extremely easy. I highly recommend this place.

    David2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Harold's place was perfect. The neigborhood was quiet and Harold was very responsive and helpful. I will definitely stay at his place again.

  • Great place, great host. Not one complaint!

    Carmen2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to stay in an authenic historical house in a beautiful quiet and peaceful area, this is the place. The home is comfortable and clean with many extras you don't find in most airbnbs. There is one bedroom upstairs and one downstairs. Full kitchen with many condiments and even a full spice rack. There is a wonderful front porch with rocking chairs for just sitting and relaxing. The water is right at the end of the road, less than a five minute walk. Harold, your host is very accomodating and responds quickly to any issue. We have stayed here twice now and will be back again and again.

    Lori2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Harold was a great host, responded quickly to questions and was helpful with questions about the area. If back in the area, I would stay at Harold's house again.

    Kathryn2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Harold was a helpful and timely communicator; you couldn’t ask for a better host. The house is in a quiet neighborhood and we enjoyed a very slow and relaxing weekend!

  • This is one sweet house, and if you like older places with lots of character, you are in for a treat. It is very comfortable, and even in the heat, we enjoyed some time on the back screen porch and front porches. The owner is very helpful and left just the right amount of instructions in the house. We were not lacking for anything. Hope to come back!

  • Absolutely beautiful home with a gorgeous lighthouse water front view. The house is very clean and comfortable with everything you need! The screened in porch was very relaxing being that it rained half of our trip but with the rain and a book it was well worth it! We brought our boat and with the private dock was easy to get in and out of the boat for the day. We were close enough to Morehead to go to a few bars and a nice restaurant. We definitely recommend this house and we plan to come back with our family in the future. You will not regret this home and view!

    Christina2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Jan’s place celebrating my daughter’s 1st birthday. The house was in great shape and was in a great location, with unique touches like bikes and a kayak. We went fishing off the deck almost everyday, even saw some dolphins! Walking/biking distance to community boat ramp as well as a gas station, which was very convenient. Definitely recommend!

  • Absolutely Peaceful

    Carl2019-06-15T00:00:00Z

  • It is perfect! You feel at home as soon as you park. My favorite is my morning coffee sitting at the end of the dock.

    Christy2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This home far exceeded our expectations! Best stocked home we've rented....down to the corn on the cob holders. Small private beach was home to amazing sea shells and the views incredible! Fishing off the dock yielded a 65 lb Red Drum plus many other smaller fish and the availability of the crab pots lead to a large pot full.... a BBQ to boot! Beds comfortable, kitchen stocked amazing, towels, sheets in good shape. Master bedroom had a jetted tub which was great at the end of the day. Great big kitchen table that fit us and guests and a wonderful screened patio for quiet sunset views. By far best bang for your buck.

    Paula2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place is phenomenal for anyone who enjoys watching the graceful sunrise "AND" sunset over the water from the private back porch and yard with a direct view of the Cape Lookout Lighthouse. We observed up close: countless pelicans, sea gulls, a huge great blue herring, a huge bald eagle, and dolphins. A local fisherman harvested fresh oysters for us and the personal dock allowed us to keep them in the ocean until ready to grill. The house layout and amenities were perfect for maximum enjoyment of this type of setting. It made for a very special week with my daughter before she moved overseas. This place is amazing. Thanks!!

    Jeremy2017-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • This house was so perfect for our family! The location to Cape Lookout was awesome. The fishing right off the pier was fun and very easy being right there. The house had everything we needed and was very clean and nice. Thank you for opening your beautiful home to us!

It definitely is out away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to easily go into Moorehead city or Atlantic Beach and go fishing or see a movie. Becca was a wonderful communicator and the house was perfect for our family and my parents and brother to get together. All the people we met in the community were super hospitable as well and friendly we did not feel looked down on as tourists. The whole thing was super. In fact if there was a “extra super host” rating Becca would definitely have it!

    Bonnie2019-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very clean and has everything you need. I was actually very happy that it does not provide internet as it keeps you from checking work e-mails. There are a great many wonderful locations that can be reached with an easy 30 minute drive such as the ferry to cape lookout on Harkers Island, Beautiful beaches near Atlantic Beach and Restaurants and Ferry to Shakleford banks in Beaufort. Cliff recommended to bring drinking water for cooking and drinking and we were glad that we followed his advice as the water from the well does have a strong taste.

  • From the moment we first met Patricia and Terrell they made us feel like we were visiting old friends. The peacocks, geese, ducks, chickens, goats and, of course, the dog and cats provide an atmosphere that is truly awesome. The view across the sound to Marshallberg, complete with wet-suited 'clammers' at work, is nothing less than 'Old Southern Down East' charm at its best. The food is outstanding. Patricia is a cook of the highest caliber. We will certainly be back.

(We cannot get the local CBS station over the air or through the CBS app. If you love to watch CBS shows or sports live, we are not the right house for you.) ****NO DOGS PLEASE due to allergies- we will have to charge an additional $200 pet cleaning fee if someone brings a dog into our house HOW FAR IS THE BEACH? That depends on if you brought your boat! There are four beaches we visit: Atlantic Beach is a 24 minute drive. The small beach at the foot of the Harkers Island bridge is a 3 minute drive, the Radio Island Beach access is 15 minutes away, and our favorite beach involves a 12 minute drive to the National Park Service ferry on Harkers Island, and a 15 minute ferry ride to Cape Lookout National Seashore (bring your cooler, fishing rods, chairs, cash to climb the lighthouse, and water toys - there are bathrooms and water on the island but nothing else). The water on the ocean side is often emerald green and enjoyed by sunbathers, surfers, and sport fishers. The inlet side is calm and shallow - perfect for small children. Boaters should definitely visit the inland side of Shackleford banks for wide sand bars, clear water, and wild pony watching.
The house is in a small subdivision, but our house is the first to be built. We have a bit of landscaping left to do, but the house and grounds are ready to go. Catch crabs with the crab traps at the house, or try your luck catching Red fish early off the end of the dock. Only 4 vehicles will fit in the driveway. Please don't park in the front yard as there is a septic system there that could be damaged. Additional parking on the street is available.
  • Great place in a beautiful spot! Great for big groups and families. Just be aware that there is a separate charge for sheets/towels/extra toilet paper, etc.

  • Plan on climbing a few stairs with your groceries but the amazing view and setting make it well worth it. The host is super responsive and they have done about everything to make it perfect for kids and adults. Our experience was better than we expected and we will be back next year!

  • We had an awesome time! The boys caught plenty of crabs and shrimp and fish during our stay. The house was well stocked with plenty of kitchen accessories. We loved being able to listen to Pandora on the sound bar as we mixed drinks and cooked dinner each evening. The kayaks were fun. The bunk room is great for kids and they slept very well. Coffee in the mornings on the top deck is a must and the views are amazing. Highly recommend this “Escape”.

  • What a great home for our family vacation! The house had lots of comfortable space, a great view, and everything we needed. The information about beaches was very helpful and we really enjoyed the kayaks.

  • You are going to love your experience here at Travis’s place! Our huge family made so many wonderful memories; kayaking, crabbing, biking, fishing, relaxing in hammocks, playing games and laughing til it hurt! The house is magnificently kept with little extras thrown in here and there. Travis is superior at communicating and making sure his guests are well cared for! We are thrilled with our stay this week! There are several entertainment options based on the time of year and the beach is relatively close. We really enjoyed The Fort Macon beach access in Atlantic Beach. It’s free and was easy to access (shells were awesome). You won’t go wrong choosing to stay here at Travis’s place!

  • This place is a gem. You get a curated boutique hotel experience at Motel Six prices. Patricia's house is on the water and near many fun and interesting sites. Get the breakfast. While you sit at the breakfast bar overlooking the bay, Patricia will fill you in on all the local lore and things to do while you tuck into your farm fresh breakfast. Book now before some travel magazine gets wind of this and her small number of rooms are booked out solid for the next three years.

  • Patricia is very warm and welcoming. It was nice to arrive and experience such a causal, relaxed atmosphere. It's exactly what we needed. Beautiful sunrise from our campsite. Nice to have the in house bathroom when traveling with a lil one. She is very accommodating and can offer helpful tips and suggestions on the area! The animals made for an unforgettable experience for our daughter! Truly a great weekend!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed camping behind Patricia and The Captain's house! Communication was quick and easy and helpful and they were both kind and hospitable with great stories to share. The camping spot was perfect along the water with great star gazing and made for a glorious sunrise come morning. The animals were a delight and we enjoyed helping to feed them. We didn't partake in breakfast (we were headed out early) but Patricia had coffee and tea available and we sampled her home made fresh bread which was a treat!

  • What a wonderful stay we had with Patricia. The house was lovely, and the banana bread was delectable. My children (8 and 6) loved Patricia, and all of her animals. The house is beautiful. The room we stayed in was clean, and well stocked. The location is also quite beautiful. There is no question that we’ll be back.
