Whether you enjoy outdoor activities or just want to relax on our deck overlooking the river, you will love this place. Hike the trails nearby, swim, kayak, and picnic at one of many beautiful mountain lakes, gaze at the Sierra Buttes, fish and enjoy the local swimming holes on the Yuba River, or just relax with a view of the river and the Tahoe National Forest. Perfect for a family vacation or group of friends. Great for telecommuting with a view -- if your boss will let you!
During winter it's a great location to avoid the crowds of the Tahoe area and is great for cross country skiing, snow shoeing, snowmobiling, or sledding with the family. Or just relax by the cozy fire. Borrow our snowshoes and poles or our sleds and have some fun. New: you may borrow our kayak to enjoy on the lakes nearby (not the river). Fits two adults and a child or dog. Please arrange for the kayak ahead of time if interested. Enjoy time on the riverside deck, fish on the river below, and sleep to the relaxing sound of the river. Enjoy the restaurants in the picturesque mining town of Sierra City or Downieville or buy groceries at the local Country Store and cook or barbecue at the cabin. Ride your bikes around town, ride the single tracks on your mountain bike, or ride your road bike up Gold Lake Road along many gorgeous lakes. Check out our low weekly pricing - may be better to spend a week - there is lots of see and do in the area. Telecommute from the cabin for a few days while the rest of your family enjoys a longer vacation. There are two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. One king bed, one queen bed, and a queen size air mattress that can go in either room or the living room. One bathroom has a shower, the other has both a bathtub and a shower. The second bedroom has a private entrance to the hall bathroom. Living space is about 1200 square feet. The TV is an old 35 inch model but it is set up with a ROKU box and both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video subscriptions so you can enjoy great movies, TV shows, news, weather, and music. Although there is no cable TV, most broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, ESPN, etc.) have apps on the ROKU so you can watch those networks live if you have a cable subscription at home. Plug your iPod or other music player to the stereo system or the available portable iPod player. VHS, CD, and Cassette players are also available. You are welcome to use the gas barbecue on the back deck facing the river and the washer and dryer in the hall bath. Connect your phones and laptops to our WiFi network for fast internet connectivity. Please LIKE us on fcbook and follow us on Insta where you will find more pictures and videos. Search RiverFrontMountainCabin on fcbook or Insta. The cabin is in a quiet, riverside neighborhood at the end of the paved road. The next door neighbors are rarely home as they don't live in town. There are no neighbors across the river (just the National Forest). Neighbors enjoy taking a walk to the to the campground a mile away, along the river. The picturesque mining town is only a mile away with places to eat or shop. There is plenty of parking on our driveway. To get around, most people walk, drive, or ride their bikes. Kayaking is the favorite mode of transportation in the lakes : )

  • Our stay here was wonderful! Lovely cabin in a perfect location, Francisco was one of the best hosts we've ever had - communicative, flexible, and helpful. We are considering coming back in the summer and staying here again!

    Molly2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a relaxing time at Francisco's place. It is in a very quiet location close to lots of beautiful hiking (even in the winter). Our dogs had a blast running around in the snow. I would highly recommend the cabin for a quiet get-away.

    Meg2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Francisco is a very thoughtful and communicative host, we had everything we could need and more. The location is exactly what I look for, quiet with amazing natural surroundings. I would go again in a heartbeat!

  • A wonderful cabin steps above Yuba River. Very comfortable and clean with many thoughtful touches. The location and setting in the Sierra forest is incredibly scenic and relaxing. I hope to return.

    Ken2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • What a perfect location to experience the Yuba river and the lakes. Walk out the back door and the river is right there. Everything you need to enjoy your stay is provided. Close to town, but still tranquil and private. I enjoyed turning off all the lights and sitting on the deck to look at the stars, so beautiful.

    Jon2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely beautiful location right on the North Yuba River, in one of the most gorgeous areas of the Sierra. Trout fishing right out the door. Super well equipped and cared for. Highly responsive host.

    David2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • The whole family including dog had a wonderful time. Francisco is responsive and thoughtful. The house is very comfortable and the area is spectacular. Would definitely stay again!

    Tami2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Francisco and his wife are excellent hosts. The feel of the home is one of a long history of a loving family retreat. The house is stocked with all of the extra comforts of home, from spices to soft towels and has plenty of seating and comfortable places to mingle and relax. The rushing river sound made the entire week more enjoyable. We were within minutes to so many beautiful places for hiking and exploring, which we did, eventhough it was difficult to leave the house. We will be coming back most definitely. Excellent vacation rental!

  • Charming and beautiful private room set in a quiet neighborhood in a forest. Zoe was incredibly kind and helpful.

    Ádithya2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Zoe and Mike were wonderful hosts with a beautiful home. They were flexible, kind, and very thoughtful. The room itself was clean and comfortable with a large bathroom and tub. If we're ever in the area of Graeagle again, we'd definitely want to come back here!

    Caroline2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our time at the Hummingbird Suite! Very clean, lots of amenities and nice touches, and a beautiful setting.

    Alison2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place with full amenities

    Dan2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Zoe and Mike”s Airbnb is the perfect location in Graeagle! Check in and communication was easy! They have thought of everything as well! The kitchenette was stocked and very helpful for us to make simple meals in the room when we chose not to dine out as well as snacks that they provide. There isn’t a microwave however but the hot plate and toaster oven worked just fine for our use. Zoe was very helpful with recommendations for dining, hikes to go on, places to see while we were there, even had a map with all the trails, lakes etc for us to use! The private space was immaculate and comfortable. The jetted tub was a nice plus but we actually didn’t make any time to use it! Maybe on our next visit, we would definitely stay here again! Thanks for an awesome experience, we would highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Graeagle or any of the surrounding towns!

    Connie2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for a wedding and had such a nice time. The jacuzzi is very relaxing after a long day. The kitchenette is well outfitted and the room is just overall a great size with an awesome king size sleep number bed. Couldn’t be happier with our stay!

    Hannah2019-10-20T00:00:00Z

The Taylor House was built in 1890, and has been the Taylor vacation home since 1960. It is a charming, vintage house and is located on highway 49, in the Tahoe National Forest, in a small, nostalgic town frequented by PCT hikers, outdoor enthusiasts, gold miners, and those just looking for a quiet place to get away. Michael or I will meet you at the house and we'll be available to you to answer any questions about the area. We live a short 20 minute drive from the house.
Sierra City is located at the base of the Sierra Buttes mountain range, and a short 20 minute drive to the Lakes Basin where you can enjoy fishing, swimming and kayaking.

Nestled between the towering Sierra Buttes and the rushing Yuba River sits Sierra Pines Resort with 22 guest rooms (3 have kitchens & fireplaces) and a fine dining bar & restaurant.
We are a rustic yet clean mountain get-away. All rooms feel like a mountain cabin and all have decks with chairs. Please be prepared for mountain living by packing layered clothing and flashlights just in case.
Sierra City is a very quaint historic town dating back to the days of the CA gold rush
  • Cabin #3 was the perfect home base for exploring the local area. The hosts are extremely friendly and helped us plan our hike for the day, which was much appreciated. The cabin itself had an oven with stovetop, a full sized refrigerator, a toaster, a coffee maker, and some dishes and utensils to prepare simple meals. We also enjoyed the patio behind the house as well, and spent some time listening to the rushing river and taking in the wonderful forest smells.

What a discovery! Here's a beautiful rustic river cabin (the Tin Cup Hilton) that commands a view of the surrounding tree studded mountains, with the big, beautiful Downie River running smack dab through the middle of it. Listen to the river while you dine, sleep, and live life. Enjoy the wildlife---deer, bear, river fowl, and the occasional otter or two frolicking in the stream. Hike, bike, swim, kayak, fish, or try your hand at gold panning. The river is your backyard. Celebrate life.
Our Tin Cup Hilton affords a magnificent view of the river
cabin sits on a private drive overlooking the river It is very private and very quiet
  • Very cozy cabin by the river!

    Thomas2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Tin Cup Hilton! It is a rustic cabin in the sense that there isn't any telephone, internet, or cell phone signal, but that can be a welcome situation many times. The cabin provides delightful accommodations, and the setting on the river couldn't be prettier. We hope to be back!

    Cary2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Les' cabin is wonderful and it's conveniently walking distance from Downtown and the trail heads. We enjoyed a spectacular weekend mountain biking hard, and the cabin was perfect to recover, enjoy warm food and drinks between rides. We can't wait to be back!

    Vicente2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great location

    Kevin2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Nice spot right on the river, and you can't beat soothing sounds of the river. The A-frame construction really takes you back in time - perfect for really getting away from it all.

    Doug2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Cute rustic cabin with lots of charm! Les was a wonderful host, we had all we needed and enjoyed the river and front porch picnic spot. Thank you!

    Devona2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We made some changes to our reservation and Les was patient throughout. It is a good, quiet spot. It was nice to be able to walk into Downieville.

    Dale2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location by the river - swimming, fishing and shooting the rapids all within 5 meters of the front porch. The cabin itself is rustic but everything works well. Be sure to pack your own bedding, however!

Amazing ambiance! This charming house is a couple blocks from the center of the small Gold Rush village of Sierra City. Guests have use of full house, with no shared space. The house is cozy and private. But its greatest attraction is the peaceful sound of a small brook cascading past the deck and water trickling down the rock patio wall. House has 3 bedrooms. Two with queen beds, one with queen plus two twin beds. Stairway to 2 upstairs bedrooms is steeper than average.
The rock retaining walls, water features and shady outside deck makes this house unique. A small creek runs past the hardwood deck, there are old rock walls and paths, and the shady canopy that makes the deck comfortable sets the house apart. It is a beautiful setting, and the creek brings the sound of water onto the deck and into the house. The house is comfortable for as few as two people or as many as eight. Guests who had trouble navigating stairs should know the staircase leading to two upstairs bedrooms are slightly steeper than average and may cause those guests difficulties. If you have questions please let me know. This rental requires a 3-day minimum. Off-season and in between other rentals can request a 2-day or 1-day minimum.
This is a charming small town atmosphere, with stunning mountain vistas, great hiking to the river or Sierra Buttes mountain, amazing mountain biking or road riding, summertime fishing, access to cross-country skiing and snowmobile, swimming in mostly chilly waters, visiting the great but limited number of town establishments. There is a bar in town, a small grocery store run by great people, a couple restaurants when they are open and a couple other places like a mining shop and art gallery.
  • Nice deck with creek running through. Great beds. Toby gave great info on hikes & activites. It is up a steep hill. So parking cars in the driveway is awkward carrying things & getting in & out. Also there is only one shower. Overall nice place and would recommend!

    Chrissy2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Lots of space, beautiful property with creek running across it. Well appointed kitchen. Easy access to town. And Toby was very responsive to my questions. Cheers.

    Gerry2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful spot alongside a creek. Host was very informative and responsive. Highly recommended.

    Mike2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • An absolute gem of a location....the sounds of the rushing creek water and whispering tall pines was soothing to the soul. Kitchen had every possible amenity/gadget. Beautiful front deck with plenty of areas for relaxing. Lovely book collection for reading enthusiasts!

    Kimberly2018-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, comfortable home! So peaceful. The way the light filters through the trees that surround the house is gorgeous. I loved the sound of the running stream and trickling water. The large porch with twinkle lights is a great place to hang out. The bedding was super comfy and pretty. Well stocked and great location for the Downieville Classic and shuttling the trails.

    Cynthia2018-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed in this cabin for Christmas. Was beautiful, clean, and scenic! Tobias was a wonderful host, and gave plenty of suggestions for where to go for the kids to play in the snow.

    Kayla2017-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place to spend a week! We stayed at Tobias's house with some friends for 8 nights. We were 4 adults, 3 kids, and a baby. We took up all the beds, and it still felt spacious. Everything was clean when we arrived, and the beds were firm and comfy. Everything you need is there - extra bedding, bath towels, etc. The kitchen is very well stocked and easy to work in, the deck is peaceful to hang out on, and the sound of the babbling creek and the little waterfall installation in the back lulls you to sleep at night. Tobias was very quick to respond when we needed him. Sierra city, aside from being very cute and having just enough amenities to feel like you're not in the wilderness (a little store, a post office, some places to get food), is a perfect yuba river location, with easy access to the river and the lakes. We never had to drive more than 15 minutes to get where we wanted to spend the day. Tobias left us a fabulous list of hikes and other places to go, which as very helpful. Great host, beautiful relaxing place to be. Highly highly recommend!

    Rebecca2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is great house to stay and to explore trails around North Yuba river. House has a lot of room for big family or party inside and outside. Sound of creek and waterfall is amazing. Makes you feel not at the house, but in the forest.

The house is newly remodeled to accommodate vacationers who love the outdoors.
Downieville is an incredible place to spend some down time. The town is built around the Downie and Yuba Rivers and the hiking, fishing and mountain biking are world class. Drift House is in downtown and located on a third of an acre with a gorgeous view of river and forest so you get the best of both worlds.
  • Words can’t explain how amazingly relaxing my stay was at Chelsea’s drift house. The atmosphere was on point so relaxing, the small town has such a beautiful history, and this small town does a great job telling you it’s story. The drift house is amazingly decorated with the perfect touch’s from the inside out. The hammock on the back porch over seeing the beauty of Mother Nature. The drift house has everything you could possibly need to just get away, relax, and relief stress. If I could give Chelsea 10 stars I would. I cannot wait to visit the drift house again.

  • The Lower Driftwood apartment is exactly as pictured -- actually better. It's in a beautiful river canyon and from the dining room is a lovely mountain view. We had a great few days there and were so impressed by all the special touches that Chelsea had thought of: flannel sheets to keep us warm, great books on the shelves, stocked kitchen with good knives, pots, coffee, basics like oil and vinegar, and fun dishes. We did a couple of fun snowshoe hikes up 49 toward the Yuba Summit -- great spot!

  • Amazing place, everything you could ever need is there! The daybed outside is the best spot in the house with an incredible view.

  • I love this place for my mountain bike getaways. It’s a great location and a very peaceful place to rest up before and after the trail.

    Don2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. Was in here with 3 other buddies to shuttle the downieville downhill. We had one on the futon, 1 in the queen, and the other two found spaces in living room and bed room to set up pads. Did not feel cramped during hangout times and meal times. Porch was really great. Overall really clean and stylish space, exceeded my expectations. One word tip / word of caution: we had a family with kids staying upstairs and the kids were creating a lot of echoey thumpy noises. If you're in the lower and someone is renting the other, bring earplugs.

    Chase2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing house at an ideal location. I was worried about parking from the description, but not at all, parking is super convenient. Rented lower drift house, and it was clean, charming, and ultra relaxing. Everything was spotless, and the available amenities very useful. Chelsea always answered our questions fast (via WhatsApp on wifi), and was always ready to help at a moment's notice. We had zero issues and cannot recommend the place highly enough.

This private room is one of three hotel-like rooms located in a wing that goes off of our house. Each room has a private bathroom with shower. The room is basic but comfortable and quiet overlooking a small creek. The room is attached to our home and thus we expect guests to be very respectful of the space and quiet.
The setting is peaceful and overlooks a small creek.
The neighborhood is very rural, with scattered homes about. There are more cows and horses than people.
  • This is a very clean and quiet environment. I took a weekend to get away and unplug. The weekend exceeded my expectations. Cozy room. I loved sitting on the porch drinking my tea and watching the geese from the farmhouse across the way.

  • Alice’s place was great. It’s perfect for a getaway in the woods. There’s not many restaurants or indoor activities nearby, so it’s a great place to unplug and get some fresh air. I would certainly stay here again.

  • We were in town for a wedding, and Tom’s place was the perfect home base for us! It’s cozy and inviting, has all the basics covered in terms of cleanliness, was super easy to find and access, and is only a couple minutes from the main stretch of Graeagle. The chalet is in a peaceful neighborhood, perfect for taking a lazy morning to sit and drink coffee on the porch before heading out for any number of forest adventures.

    Matt2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a great weekend at Tom's place. There were two couples and we each had comfortable bedrooms. Plenty of space. The house was clean and ready for us with ample towels, blankets, pillows, kitchen appliances, everything we needed. We were really impressed by how quiet the neighborhood was, especially over a busy Labor Day weekend! The house is perfectly located for venturing off into the mountains or playing golf. A convenience store is a minute's drive away, as well as a variety of restaurants. We had a wonderful time there and would certainly go back should the occasion arise. Thank you, Tom, for being such a good and responsive host!

Our place is good for a couple, solo adventure seeker or just getting back to nature & relaxing in the mountains. This is a cozy one bedroom one full bath, living room & kitchenette. With a relaxing covered front porch. A quiet and peaceful getaway that is tucked in the Sierra Mountains of California. Less than a half an hour drive to beautiful golf courses in Graeagle and historical Downieville and Nevada City. Also a short drive to the Sierra Buttes, one of the gems of the Sierra Mountains.
Just the perfect place for hikers, snow snowshoeing, cross country skiers, bird watchers, mountain biking or just getting away for a quite relaxing time. The town was founded to support the Davies-Johnson Lumber Mill around 1919. From 1921 until 1940, a branch of the Western Pacific Railroad served the town and the mill, working out of Portola, California. The timber stocks were gone by 1939 and the mill closed soon after. This Home was built in the early 30’s as a boarding home that housed employees of the Calpine Lumber Mill & Box Company.
As mentioned in the description. Very quiet and relaxing little town off of Highway 89. Only 40 minutes away from Truckee & 20 minutes To the beautiful Sierra Buttes.
  • Nice place to stay.

    Jennandlance2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • One our favorite things to do when staying in AirBnBs is to chose places that have historic significance. We have stayed in a sea captain's home, a beautiful home in a historic district, a 19th century ranching family's home, and the home of a country doctor. And now we have stayed in a boarding house built in the early 1930's for employees of the Calpine Lumber Mill & Box Company. Walking up the steps and entering the second floor apartment felt like walking back in time. If you use your imagination you can feel what it may have been like to get off after a long day at the mill and come up the stairs to your room in this boarding house. It has been somewhat rearranged from the original footprint, but still holds the ambiance of a boarding house. There is a nice warm wood stove to keep you cozy and a small yet well equipped kitchen. Calpine is a tiny town (population 125). It was wonderfully quiet and dark with a million stars overhead. Linda, who greeted us, was most friendly and helpful. And Mike, with whom I communicated, was incredibly accommodating with our changing plans.

    Carol2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot close to tons of hiking and swimming. I came up here with my dog and we had a wonderful weekend of adventuring. Recommended for solo travelers or couples looking for a place in this area.

    Alex2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Never met Mike but Linda was an excellent host. She was very hospitable and informative. Loved the lesson on the herbs growing in the yard she gave me. Even helped me make a zone for the dogs I borrowed to saunter around in front of the house. The accommodations were spartan but perfectly suitable for checking out the mountains for a day. Thanks for the hospitality Linda! Be well.

  • Great place, cozy and quiet. I slept like a log.

    Aaron2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Short but comfortable stay in this peaceful mountain location. The house was easy to find. Mike and his Mother are great hosts. They were kind enough to mail my favorite shirt which I had left in their place. Thanks for having us.

    Arek2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • I did not meet Mike in person but his wife was so sweet and helpful! She took the time to help us understand how to get to the wedding we came to Calpine for. She even offered to drop us off/pick us up so no one would have to be the designated driver! Small town hospitality is the best.

    Matt2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed having a whole floor and bathroom to ourselves. Good value for the money. Hosts have done a good job at improving the interior and making things inviting and attractive, seeing that the house is decades old. Like improvements to the bathroom and shower. That made the stay very comfortable. We’ll be back again in the future!

  • Lovely cabin in a beautiful part of the Sierras. We had hoped for snow, but instead of cross country skiing, we enjoyed walks through town and through the surrounding area. The deck has an amazing view of the river and it is a perfect place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee. Jane is a helpful and accommodating host. The cabin is well supplied and the kitchen is roomy and well equipped. The gas fire is warm and inviting. The wifi was slow during our visit, but hoping that will improve. The bedrooms that face the deck lack window coverings so the morning sun might bless you with an early awakening. My eye mask addressed that concern.

Amazing & unforgettable memories every time!!

  • What a lovely, cozy, welcoming, and relaxing "Cabin in the Woods." Jane extended our Christmas spirit with some wonderful decorative touches and made us feel right at home. While there wasn't much snow, we had fun-filled days and enjoyed sitting outside on the deck to listen to the wind in the pine trees, rushing creek below, and singing birds. We'll definitely keep Jane's place in mind for another trip to the gorgeous Plumas County area.

Beautiful classic Victorian home literally seconds from historic downtown Downieville. Mountain biking, hiking, swimming, fishing, relaxing, are some of the reasons why you will love your visit to our home in the paradise known as Downieville, California.
Newly renovated Victorian cottage, set in the heart of Downieville. Nestled between 2 rivers, the cottage offers a relaxing retreat. Swim, bike, fish, walk or simply watch the world go by in this Sierra goldmine town, surrounded by nature. In the evening relax with high speed WiFi and a 47” HD TV equipped with live TV (50+ channels via YouTube TV), Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime. More information The space Our family loves our cottage. In the winter there's nothing like snuggling up and sitting around the fire playing board games. In the summer it's all about the outdoors. Sit on the porch and watch the world go by, explore the Sierra's all around you, or be adventurous like us and try out the famous downhill mountain bike rides. We have ridden mountain bikes in places like Whistler, Jackson Hole, Moab, and Santa Cruz and there is nothing quite like Downieville. The trails here are truly world class and a bucket list experience for any mountain biker.
The town of Downieville is adorably sleepy during most of the year, known to some as a mountain biking mecca and known to others as a charming retreat to get away from the rest of the world. Enjoy a stroll through town while stopping to chat with friendly locals, take a dip in one of the many local swimming holes or picturesque lakes, hike a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail, or take a shuttle up to the mountain biking trails if you are in need of an adrenaline rush.

  • The location was great. With many hiking trails and cute town. I am an airbnb superhost. I found it ridiculous that we was required to take our shoes off in the house. But the floors were really hairy and dirty. Only one door key was also ridiculous for 4+ guests. And when the front door shuts it locks automatically. House rules said strip the beds and launder . No way. Paying a huge cleaning fee for one night and stripping beds?. The beds were very very very squeaky. You could here every move the upstairs sleeper made from bottom bedroom. It sounded like a dog barking. Nighttime I could smell the septic tank through the upstairs closed window. There is blue painters tape on the bathroom window. And a candle stick for a prop. I felt as though we were expected not to use water. Or heat. Or dishwasher. And take really quick showers. The owners didn't make us feel comfortable with all the notes and possible fines accessed for leaving heater on. To threats of septic tank overfilling. So much misrepresentation.

Lots of remodels have been done to this rustic cabin. The cabin is wood stove heated. Wood is provided. There are 3 bedrooms. One on the main floor with a queen bed, one at the lower garage level (this room stays nice and cool). This lower level room has a queen size bed and double size bunk beds. The upper loft floor has a double and two twins. Pets that will not be left alone & are not prone to indoor accidents, chewing, excessive barking are welcome.
This is a rustic cabin that has had some remodeling done. New tile and flooring is in the kitchen, bathroom, and throughout. The cabin is wood stove heated. Wood is provided. The wood stove is very efficient and will burn for 8-12 hours. Although the stove does a great job heating the cabin, I currently am not renting the cabin out during the cooler months, unless you can provide me with a statement with your experience using a wood stove as the sole heating source in the past. If you book without this statement, I may have to cancel the reservation for this reason. There are 3 bedrooms. One on the main floor with a queen bed, one at the lower garage level (this room stays nice and cool). This lower level room has a queen size bed and double size bunk beds. The upper loft floor has a double and two twins. As described, the house is a tri level with sleeping areas in each level. The laundry room on the main floor has a washer/dryer. The kitchen is fully functional with a dishwasher, coffee maker, and juicer, although there is no microwave. The bathroom has a shower/tub combo. The living room is large to seat everyone and has a card table that extends to sit 6. This with the kitchen table can sit 12 total. The front porch faces toward a park where you can whistle your kids home. The park also has basketball hoops, tennis courts, and a baseball diamond. The back yard has a charcoal bbq and faces wilderness where there is lots of privacy. There are nearby quad, sledding, and snowmobile trails so bring your toys. Nearby is the trailhead to Calpine lookout, Graeagle for golf, beer/wine tasting and cute shops (15 minute drive), Sierraville for biking, hot springs, and a shooting range (15 minute drive), Gold Lakes with great hiking and swimming at Sand Pond (25 minute drive), and Portola where a grocery store and public pool are (30 minutes). North Star ski resort and Truckee are about a 45 minute drive away and birdwatching in Sierra Valley is beautiful. Jackson Lake is a 30 minute drive for great fishing.
There is a park with basketball hoops, tennis courts, and baseball fields 300 yards away.
  • Heather's house was a great stay. Ideal location for our needs, great back porch, right against a forest. And did I mention an epic collection of VHS tapes and DVDs. The wood stove has no problem getting the house nice and cozy. We'll be back.

    Adam2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • This by far has been the best place we've ever stayed at. Everything was absolutely perfect it was clean and there was more than enough space for our big family. Heather thought of everything anyone could ever need and more. There were fishing rods and bikes that we were able to use on our trip and even caught fish with. The juicer was a fun touch. The kids got to play the Wii upstairs at the end of the day and my husband absolutely enjoyed the awesome collection of movies. There was nothing at all that we needed for that wasnt already there and there was absolutely nothing we would change. Cant wait to come back again!

    Yelena2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Great host. The cabin is perfect. Location is on a very quiet side street with ample parking and a great back yard. The cabin is clean and spacious and well appointed. Heather is a treat to work with. She is responsive and helpful. I'll be staying again when I'm working in the area next.

  • We stayed for the second time in the past 12 months. 2/14-2/19. We had a terrific trip. After many stays in the area, at multiple rentals, Jeanne’s house across from Whitehawk is one of the nicest I have seen. Very spacious, wonderfully appointed and decorated. Peaceful and centrally located for mountain fun. Our kids love the property for running around and exploring. The house is full of useful visitor tips and guidance.

    Keith2020-02-20T00:00:00Z

  • One of the nicest, perhaps the nicest, AirBnb home we have ever had the pleasure of staying in. Jeanne was very accommodating and prompt in all communications, queries and requests. The house is jaw droppingly gorgeous and very well thought out. If you’re looking in this area, you wont find a nicer house to stay in.

    Greg2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • This house is truly magical. Set in a gorgeous alpine location, you feel totally isolated in nature, yet close enough to go into Graeagle or play a round of golf at Whitehawk. The house has amazing decks surrounding it. The amenities are top notch. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we could possibly need. There were so many little details that made our stay so wonderful. We stayed here with my family age ranges from 2-72 and we all enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend staying at this lovely home.

    Katie2019-06-10T00:00:00Z

Great solitude and access to amazing hiking, small towns, beautiful river. Mike is a terrific host, everything was so well organized with lots of good information about the surrounding area. Highly recommend!

    Joan2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place for many reasons - location, surroundings, peace, spaciousness, comfort, a home away from home. Great to walk down to the river for a swim, or a quick hop to the lakes for some incredible hikes. We were 4 adults, 2 kids, 1 dog and all had a fantastic week - thank you Mike!

    Lisa2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderfully serene, quiet escape. Charming cabin-style home on beautiful property. Close to many fun outdoor activities or great for hanging around the property and relaxing. Plenty of bathrooms to accommodate large party sizes. Washer and dryer were a nice bonus. Breakfast nook was super cozy and outdoor patio is massive and lovely. Home is pet-friendly as well if that matters to you. Mike is a prompt and thorough communicator and was friendly to interact with. Overall a very nice experience. Only caveat is that the sofa-bed is extremely unsupportive and comfortable. I wouldn’t plan on using it unless you’re an extremely easy-going sleeper. All the other beds are fantastic though.

Main house has 3 bedrooms, a library, 2 full bath, large kitchen with separate dining area. Living room is large with wood burning fireplace. In the guest house, above the garage is a separate suite w/queen size bed and en suite bathroom. Two car garage and large storage area for your toys. Pets welcome at additional $50.
  • This is the sixth time I've rented Sun and Mark's house and I'm quite confident it's an awesome option for your D-Ville stay. The kitchen is well equipped to handle nearly any meal and with a great floorplan and with multiple bedrooms it works well for groups of friends, family, and/or couples to enjoy everything the town has to offer. The garage is sizable with plenty of room for bikes and gear and with it being so close to the bottom of 1st Divide trail it's centrally located for everyone to hang out, close enough to town to walk, or ride to the Shuttles. The heater works great as does the washer and dryer and all other appliances and there's a new 6 burner BBQ on the deck this year too!

    Jason2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We rented the house for guys mountain biking weekend and everyone loved it. Humorously, what the guys liked most was the garage, with a large workbench room for bike maintenance and another room for bike storage, plus a 2 car garage and lots of extra driveway space for parking cars.

  • Wonderful and charming old farmhouse with tons of character. The front porch beckons for lazy days and evening happy hours. The beds are all very comfortable, the house was very clean, and there was ample space for our family of four, grandma, an aunt and uncle and our yellow lab for a four day stay. We will be back!

  • Convenient, clean, well equipped home in the mountains. Each bedroom has 2 beds. House has a nice yard with room to play. We stayed during a snow storm and Kent was super responsive and assured the driveway was plowed. The home is so close to Whitehawk and Graeagle and would be a great place to rent in the summer. Kent and his wife are super hosts.

  • Would highly recommend staying here. This beautiful home is a large space and much bigger than what appears in the pictures and it has everything you can think of for food preparation. Plenty of kitchen utensils, cookware, and even an outside grill. Rooms are extremely comfortable.

  • We were the first to stay in the newly listed cabin. Had a great time. Well located near Graeagle, (5 mins) and near good hiking trails. The cabin was just as advertised, nice and clean, with all the things we needed for our stay. Cabin has wifi and Direct TV as well. We will likely book this cabin again hopefully in the spring. Our trip was for golfing and hiking and the cabin is located nearby three really nice courses. The hosts are a very nice couple who met us there right on time to show us around.

Privacy with a view, and proximity to downtown. Located on the hillside just above town square. Visitors can see what is going on in town and yet remain above it all in a private setting. There is plenty of covered parking. The cabin is just steps away from downtown businesses, and access to the river. Let’s face it, Downieville is not big.
As the name implies, our cabin’s decor is rustic and woodsy, with lots of pine cones, and images of bears. We have provided a cloths washer and dryer. The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking and serving meals. It is set up to be home away from home.
Our guests love how close we are to everything in town, yet how private the house is.

  • The location of the house is excellent. You can hear the river and can see the downtown area from the patio. Nice short walk to town. The house was clean and bright. Well taken care of and very comfortable. We will definitely be staying here again.

  • The cabin is adorably perfect for a family. Close to town, clean, and spacious for a family of 5. We have been vacationing in downieville for 18 years and this is by far the best place we’ve stayed.

Drift House is two one bedroom levels that can be rented separately to sleep 4 or together to sleep up to 8. Each level has a private entrance, full kitchen, bath, bedroom, living room and private porch overlooking the Downie River.
Drift House is situated at the top of a lot overlooking the beautiful Downie River and public access for swimming and fishing is a short 5 minute walk away. You've got an 8 minute walk to the center of downtown and about a 2 minute ride to the shuttle pick up from the front door.
  • We needed a restful getaway from Tahoe and this spot was just perfect. We really enjoyed the record player and creative furnishings- nice use of vintage kitchenware and it had a classy cool feeling. Loved the sound of the river from the porch. Thanks again!

  • Chelsea’s place is awesome. We love sitting on the balcony and looking at the river, town, and hills! Awesome jump-off place for day trips to the Buttes, too!

  • I hate to share this amazing secret, but I can’t hold back my enthusiasm for the Upper Drift House and it’s host Chelsea. She is thoughtful and kind. Offering us a room in Loyalton at her Inn if the Yuba Pass was not passable. We made it to Downieville and were so glad we did. Everything was perfect. Already planning our next trip.

Amazing location at Northstar. This condo is ski in ski out, when conditions allow. It has a very cozy feel with upstairs master and bath and downstairs bedroom and bath. The condo contains 1 queen, 2 twins and a queen sized sleeper sofa. Full kitchen, breakfast bar and spacious living area.
  • Super satisfied. It was super clean. Full of furniture and everything we needed. Easy to access and great reactivity as we booked one hour before arrival. We recommend. No air conditioning but we put the ventilator at the window and the rooms got fresh quite easily. Thanks.
