Period cottage in beautiful Wiltshire Village
My spare room is a a small but perfectly formed double bedroom with a double bed, linen and chest of drawers. The cottage is a period cottage built in the late 1700's and is grade 2 listed so is oozing with character which yes that means low beams, an inglenook fireplace, wooden floors. It's an old cottage in the country so with that goes a few pet spiders, the odd cobweb and a crack in the paint here and there! There is use of shared bathroom (which is downstairs), kitchen and living room. Included is towels, fresh linen, tea, coffee, WiFi. The cottage is in a simply stunning rural Wiltshire village which is very close to the canal for some superb countryside walks or cycle routes and some great village pubs that you must try. Locally there are market town of Devizes, Melksham, Chippenham. Tourist Attractions nearby: Caen Hill Lock Flight, Lacock Abbey (of Harry Potter, Pride and Prejudice Fame) Avebury. Stonehenge is approximately 30 mins away by car. Further afield you can get to Bath, Glastonbury, Salisbury and Wells. There is a bus stop (49) directly outside the cottage which connects with local Towns Trowbridge and Devizes and also main transport hubs Bath & Swindon. If you are wanting to get out and explore the villages it may be more advisable to have a car. Note there is a very limited bus service on Sundays! If I am free I am more than happy to show you around the local area. I love to cook and to eat together so if I am around I will happily share a meal, if not just make full use of the kitchen yourself! I do not include breakfast as I cannot guarantee my working hours /availabilty however you are welcome to help yourself to toast or cereals or whatever I have available if I am around or use the kitchen to prepare your own.
  • Quick responses and very understanding

  • We had a short, but great stay at Jennys beautiful house! Next time we would Like to spend more time in this cosy and quirky home, with its little surprises :) we enjoyed Our stay a lot and slept very well! Jenny was very kind and helpful, and Harry the dog was so sweet! Thank you so much for breakfast and the sweet gifts! :)

    Sissi2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer was fantastic, great recommendations and a very warm stay. We were very lucky as she shared some of her vegetarian chili that she had spare from feeding the homeless/less fortunate. Lovely human, thank you for a great stay.

    Ryan2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Jenny is very generous at sharing her home. She was so helpful and she and her dog Harry made me and my dog feel very welcome. Thank you!

    Louise2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed with Jenny and Harry for 5 weeks for a working holiday and really felt welcomed and allowed to feel at home away from home. I especially liked: Jenny's swift and clear communication, her relaxed nature allowed me to do my own thing or hang out in the evenings without judgement, being shown around the area - Seend and Wiltshire alike with great suggestions if venturing out alone and sharing cooking occasionally (Jen is great at roast dinners!). The location was perfect as it had a beautiful view from the bedroom window, was quiet but on the main route to larger towns closeby. The only thing I found slightly bothersome was the scratching of Harry's claws on the floor as he walked past my room when I wanted a lie in (you have to be a dog person!) - other than this I really can't fault my stay - thank you Jenny and Harry!

    Millie2019-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • What to say? Clean, warm, excellent facilities, comfortable bed and very friendly, lovely dog. I didn't see a great deal of Jennifer due to both of us being out a lot, and didn't need much in terms of local help, but she was helpful and friendly to the extent that we did interact.

Hi, This is our first full year renting out this lovely quiet and well equipped home. We decided to keep the price low, as we would rather have lots of lovely guests, than have our beautiful home empty. We have tried to think of your every need and if we have missed anything, please let us know, we welcome your input. My sister took particular time and effort decorating the house and laying every brick herself until it was to her satisfaction. My niece Kim keeps it clean and welcoming!
The decor is light and airy. Every room has been recently updated with new paint, carpet and beds. The Kitchen is light and bright and a true pleasure to cook in or to just sit at the dining table and chat. The living room, bedrooms and bathroom can all be easily accessed by a wheel chair or walker. All the beds are new and have duvets.
This is on a quiet well-established small housing estate. Situated on a corner with a beautifully landscaped garden. The Patio is quiet and secluded with a fire pit, barbecue, seating and umbrella. The back gate has been modified so that pets cannot get out.
  • Excellent two bedroom with plenty of room for 6 people. The hosts are friendly and responsive. The kitchen is well stocked and having a washer AND a dryer on site was very helpful. While the exterior makes the place look dated, the interior has been very well redone. The whole place was very clean and comfortable as well. The host goes out of their way to make sure the place has all the little touches you need. The location is also ideal as you are within super easy walking distance of Aldi supermarket and several other stores and restaurants. Overall, we had an excellent stay that exceeded our expectations.

    Michael2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely home from home. Great amenities and thoughtful extra touches. Great wifi, lots of board games and DVDs in the house. Thanks for a lovely stay!

  • This is a wonderful place to stay with everything you could possibly need provided by the host in such a clean and well organised space. There's loads to do in the area but plan some relaxation time too, as this house is so much more than just a place to sleep and it's such good value. We're already planning an opportunity to return!

    Debi2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly how described lovely peaceful close and Kim obviously cares for her clients that stay in the bungalow even to the point that even the bedrooms have sky sports

  • Excellent stay at Iain and Jill’s annexe! Very spacious area with incredible amenities. Lovely touch providing things for breakfast, and a lovely hot tub too! Comfy beds. All round perfection!

    Hannah2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The place is so lovely, really high quality but still warm, cosy and homely. Loved having all the little touches like dvds PS4 games etc breakfast supplies in fridge. I told Iain that my husband and I were vegetarian so he made sure no bacon was left for us. Iain was friendly when greeting us and showed us round but left us to our own devices so didn’t feel like we were imposing in someone’s house. Even the rain and high winds didn’t Stop us having a dip In the hot tub. Highly recommend. We went to longleat safari park and Lacock Abbey as both around 20 mins away from property so great location for lots of days out.

    Nicki2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • I honestly cannot wait to return here. Iain & Jill’s place is so perfect, it’s a spacious annexe and has everything you need for a lovely getaway. It’s modern & clean, the hot tub is amazing and the beds are so comfortable!!! The added extras are what made this place truly remarkable, the eggs & bacon in the fridge & the fluffy blanket on the sofa. It’s like a home away from home!

  • Just returned from an overnight stay at Tony and Lyn’s - everything about it was amazing! Amazing location with really peaceful surroundings, 5 minute drive to a great local pub and a 15 minute drive to a big Tesco. They provided everything we could have needed and more - all utensils/cutlery/glasses/plates/tea and coffee and home made fudge and cake. Amazingly comfy bed in a clean and stylish cabin with a smart TV. Amazing hot tub in a private garden. Lovely double walk in shower in a clean bathroom/kitchen area. Lyn and Tony are great hosts, answered all questions and was greeted personally by Lyn. Will definitely be returning, such a fantastic find!!

  • Tony & Lyn were great hosts throughout our night stay at their wonderful little retreat. Everything feels brand new and the place was spotless. We got a great sense of being able to relax on our own in privacy but at the same time knowing if we needed any help with anything we only had to ask. The views of the sunset across the countryside from the hot tub were amazing even in the winter - we will definitely be back to see how amazing the place will be in the summer! A great break away from it all, thanks again.

    David2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • A great little cabin with an amazing hot tub, would recommend it to anyone for a weekend retreat. The extra little touches really made it a great weekend. Thanks!

    Richie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Tony & Lyn did everything they possibly could to ensure we had a great stay at their facility. Everything from the quick responsive messages to the home made gifts, we had such a wonderful time although the weather was not on our side. They gave us big umbrellas to use in the hot tub in the rain which was so lovely of them! Tony & Lyn ensured we got the very most out of our trip, and I will definitely consider coming here again in the summer!

  • We had a lovely two night break in Wiltshire in this quirky Airbnb. The space is lovely and plenty of space for two adults and a dog. The location is perfect. We enjoyed walked along the canal (3 minutes walk from the cottage) to get to the locks. Lots of lovely pubs and nearby villages to visit too. We could have stayed for a lot longer 😊

    Katrina2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This space is spot on for a retreat. Beautiful, simple, well designed space perfect for thinking, being still, praying, worshiping. In a beautiful countryside location with plenty to explore outdoors if that's what you want to do. Wonderful hosts. We are very grateful for the time. We used it as a retreat space for the beginning of the new year. Thank you

    Michael2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely self contain cabin, seems like a remote location with the final half mile drive to the cabin and their house but this is deceptive as it is actually very easy to reach all the main local highlights of Whiltshire by car. Deep in the countyside, lots of stars on a clear night, well away from the turmoil of a town, city life.

The room was ideal with comfortable beds and good facilities including a fridge, TV and a large bathroom. Everything was nice and clean and Karen couldn't do enough for us. The breakfast was lovely, we got to choose the night before and it was great to have a nice cooked breakfast to set us up for the day, all served for us in the dining room. If we need to go back to the area, we'll definitely be staying again.

  • This place was a brilliant find! The cottage was cosy but bigger than we expected. Lovely atmosphere and we so enjoyed sitting by the open fire. We also ventured to the local pub which had an incredible sticky toffee pudding. Wouldn’t hesitate to book here again in the future. Sara and James were amazingly helpful hosts.

    Ruth2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • A comfortable and very cosy cottage. We really enjoyed our stay, made all the more special by a complimentary bottle of Prosecco and happy birthday balloons! It was lovely and warm with central heating and an open fire, easy to cook in with a well equipped kitchen, perfect for a family of four for the weekend. Nice pub and picturesque village setting.

    Ben2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Sara's. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped for a weekend away. We all slept so well - the beds and duvets were SO cosy! The chilled fizz, milk for a cuppa and jar of biscuits were all thoughtful additions. Bath's an easy drive away and there's a nice local pub too :) Highly recommend a stay here.

    Lucy2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • A cosy period cottage in a charming village. Very spacious and well equipped in every way. Very comfy beds. Appreciated the many thoughtful touches like the prosecco in the fridge and the cookies. Well situated to visit Bath and lots of other tourist attractions. Highly recommended. Thanks Sarah.

  • You couldn’t do better if you tried. The property is a beautiful, cosy cottage that’s comfortable and well equipped. Clean and oozing character. How can you not feel refreshed after spending a weekend away in it. Loved the low doorways, fireplace and friendly pub owners from the local (great recommendation). Highly recommend.

    Alon2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Sara's cottage is a beautiful cosy period home. It has been renovated to a high standard whilst keeping all of the character of the property. We loved the little touches Sara has added like plush towels and bedding, fairy lights, cookies, milk and a lovely bottle of Prosecco. The cottage is a quiet little village close to Longleat and Bath, both of which we visited. It also has a nice looking pub and village shop. Unfortunately we didn't get to visit either. I would definitely recommend staying in Sara's cottage 5 stars 🌟

Pigsty Cottage is a spacious apartment within an Orangery, its a lovely private place to stay . Well equipped, with a top quality kingsize bed and mattress, secure parking and electric gates. A Lovely rural location, stunning gardens. Great for visits to Bath, Stonehenge, Salisbury and Devizes
The Orangery is set in stunning gardens providing peace and tranquility for your stay. Light, airy and private from the main house it provides a perfect retreat. Comfy sofas and a fully equipped kitchen help make you feel at home! There is under floor heating for those chillier days, a large bathroom with a walk in shower with two lovely bathrobes for use during your stay. In the bathroom you will find emergency essentials - just in case you have forgotten something!
Whilst located in countryside, we are close to the lovely town of Devizes just 5 miles away. Bath is also accessible in about 40 minutes. The Kennet and Avon Canal is less than a mile away and is great for walks. There are a number of pubs and restaurants within a mile or so that serve great food. We are very rural, and it can be muddy - so there is a selection of wellies, in case you fancy a walk.
  • Steve and Lizzie are the perfect hosts. Attentive and thoughtful and even responded to a request for a cake tin! The Pigsty is set amongst stunning gardens and such a lovely place to stay. Looking forward to returning.

    Kimiya2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Huge accommodations, lovely garden views, very clean, full of breakfast items and nibbles...we enjoyed our stay very much. Local pub, The Brewery, was fun with good food if you want local flair, and The Barge Inn, further down the tiny road was very nice for casual dining. Thanks to Lizzie for suggesting these. Melksham is great to visit, and the local one screen theatre was vintage fun. Traffic noise subsides in the evening, but don’t book if this will bother you; weather was cool so windows were closed and it did not bother us at all. Book tickets online for Stonehenge and go at 9:30 before the tour busses arrive. Don’t drive in Bath, plenty of parking garages...walk!

    Maria2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • This gem of a place was a real find! Close enough to places like Devizes to get your bits and pieces but far enough into the countryside to get some piece and quiet. The photos really don't do the accommodation justice - you're guaranteed not to be disappointed in any way. Although late in the season, there were still lots of colourful dahlias in the garden outside to make things outside look extra pretty. The weather let us down, but hey you can't plan for that! Very, Very highly recommended so go enjoy....!

    Karen2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay in the beautiful Pigsty. If you are looking for a hideaway in the middle of nowhere, then this is the place for you. Strongly recommend walking from the Barge Inn to Caen Locks. About an 8 mile walk along the canal with plenty of pubs along the way. Hopefully see you again soon Justin & Sarah

  • Very clean and tidy apartment with good host communication in a perfect location (15-30 min.) for seeing the famous sights of Wiltshire--from Lacock to Silbury Hill. Parking was easy and ample. A restaurant in walking distance, and a spectacular view to the valley and an ancient church. Do note, however, that there are other lodgers in bedrooms on the same floor and above, and that there are two cats that can be a bit noisy. Nevertheless, a great value in a unique and historic space.

The Nest is a lovingly refurbished unique space, on the grounds of a 200yr old chapel, in the picturesque hamlet of Sandy Lane, Wiltshire. The self-contained ensuite room has its own front door and keyless entry for your comfort to come and go as you please. Your own private Jacuzzi hottub is also included. Located 1.5 miles from Bowood and 3 miles from Lacock. Find us on Instagram @thenestsandylane
A warm and indulgent nest, featuring a French antique king size bed and a copper leafed, free standing, cast iron roll top bathtub and now with a Jucuzzi hottub, the perfect way to end the day, or start an evening... We provide dressing gowns, slippers, towels, soaps and shampoos, dressing table with vanity mirror and hairdryer. In the room you will find a drinks station offering a Nespresso coffee machine, kettle and drinks fridge. There is a TV and WIFI is available. The heating is simply controlled by a thermostat in the room. We offer a selection for breakfast, including cereal, juice, bread and spreads. Keyless entry makes it simple for you to come and go as you please. There is plenty of parking in the driveway. We are blessed to be surrounded by such a unique selection of wildlife. There are plenty of garden birds, woodpeckers, pheasants, muntjacks, roe deer, kites and occasionally the sparrow hawk pays a visit which is amazing to watch. We are regularly frequented by a pair of Partridges, (Alan and Mrs. Alan) who usually pop in to the bird buffet for breakfast or supper... Public transport is available but very limited. A car is required. Also there are no shops in the hamlet, just a pub which is about a 2 min walk from The Nest. Follow us on Instagram @thenestsandylane
3 mins walk from The Nest is The George Inn on Sandy Lane serving a delicious menu and carvery dinner. Booking recommended and not open on Mondays. A short 2 min walk is the historic thatched church of St. Mary and St. Nicholas, often selling a small selection of local preserves. We have some stunning trails right off our door step. Chittoe Heath, Spye park and for a longer walk - Lacock. Down by the George pub there is a trail which winds through the Bowood lake, into Derry Hill. Or keep straight and you will reach Mile Elm, heading on to Calne, or catch the old railway line into Chippenham. If you fancy a hill climb, you can head for Roundway, which is down past the historic thatched church of St. Mary and St. Nicholas. Jump in the car (or catch the very rare bus) to the close towns of Calne, Melksham or Chippenham. The market town of Devizes is a good spot for a bit of shopping and food.

Trevor and Lynda made our stay extra special by providing a happy birthday banner, a cute welcome note and bottle of bubbly in the fridge. The place was romantic and charming. • I had one of a kind glamping experience with Jane and David. They were very responsive and detailed with communication. Welcoming me and my friends to the farm, they were so hospitable, warm and kind. They did their best to ensure that we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The accommodation was really warm and comfy, well-equipped with best facilities. We had more than we need in the tent. There were a few lovely and thoughtful little touches that made the stay even more enjoyable. We were very unlucky with the weather but Jane and David made their best effort to ensure that we won’t be in any trouble. Feeding the alpacas and touring the farm in the morning were great too, must-try experience. Toilet and shower were at perfect hygiene. The night was beyond my expectation and I would love to bring more friends and families back next year. Thanks Jane and David for such a memorable stay and great conversation.

  • We had a brilliant time in the bell tent. It is really well kitted out very stylishly decorated. David kindly lit the log burner before we arrived so it was all warm inside. It was CHUCKING it down the whole time we were there, but this only made it more inviting to stay in our lovely snug tent! Wellies are a must if weather not great. We were very grateful to get to feed the alpacas in the morning. So cute!

    Elizabeth2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jane and David are pleasant, friendly hosts with a wealth of local knowledge. David offered us some great suggestions of local pubs in the area. We really enjoyed and appreciated the little touches throughout our stay, such as board games and tea supplies!

  • We had a fab time staying in the yurt. We were extremely unlucky with the weather but that didn't stop us enjoying the experience. All of the facilities were immaculately kept and the hosts were super friendly. We loved learning about the Alpacas and our son really enjoyed feeding them. We would love to return next year in the summer. Superb location and great hosts

    Nicola2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • I can't recommend this place highly enough, we had such a lovely weekend here. David and Jane were the perfect hosts. The tent is amazing and they had thought of everything you could need. Top end glamping whilst being eco friendly - fantastic! We also had a lovely time meeting all of the alpaccas and helping with the feeding. We will defintiely be visiting again!

    Kiran2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a wonderful place and everything that you could dream of in glamping. A tremendous fun for the whole family.

    Sasha2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely environment with very friendly hosts. We were able to feed the alpacas in the morning, which as animal lovers we really enjoyed. Everything needed was provided. Would definitely recommend

The North Transept is part of our converted Victorian Gothic church. We've done all the conversion ourselves - the high ceilings and beautiful Gothic windows make it a unique space. It's in a small hamlet called Chittoe, in a beautiful hidden valley in the Wiltshire countryside, surrounded by fields and with lovely walking from the door. It's easy to get to local towns like Devizes and only half an hour to Bath. We provide continental breakfast with fresh ground coffee and a range of teas.
Coronavirus outbreak: We are cleaning all surfaces down with disinfectant, along with door handles and other areas that people may well touch. The north transept is very self-contained so other than meeting and greeting you (that we will do at the obligatory 2m distance!) you will have no contact with us. The North Transept is a self-contained annex of our Victorian Gothic church, The Old Church. The church was built for the local country house estate in the mid 19th century and was deconsecrated in 1980. We have been converting the church since 1988 - it is our family home. The North Transept has its own separate entrance from the outside into its own lobby which is a good place to leave your coats, shoes and boots. This then opens into the North Transept space - an impressive double height living and dining area. On the ground floor there is: a comfortable living and dining area; a fully equipped kitchen with electric oven, gas hob, microwave, coffee maker with beans, and plenty of worktop space; a bathroom with bath and shower. Stairs lead up to a mezzanine which has a comfortable king size bed with hanging space and drawers. At this level there is a large beautiful Gothic window which looks out onto the old graveyard and beyond to open fields. The whole space has beautifully high ceilings with exposed beams but is warm and cosy with underfloor heating under the stone ground floor. The sofa on the ground floor level is a double sofa bed, for which bedding can be supplied on request. Access to the North Transept is step free with wide doorways making it wheelchair accessible; wheelchair users who are unable to get upstairs would be able to sleep on the sofa bed. The North Transept has Wi-Fi, telephone, smart TV and an audio system with bluetooth so you can play your own music.
The North Transept is located in Chittoe a quiet hidden valley with lots of lovely walks directly from the church and many others just a short drive away. It is in hamlet of less than 20 houses and on a no through lane so it's very quiet and peaceful (apart from the sounds of the owls, pheasants and Muntjac deer!). As well as walking and enjoying the peace of the countryside, there are loads of other things to do in the area. Nearby are: the market town of Devizes with Wadworth Brewery and the Kennet and Avon Canal with its famous Caen Hill flight of 29 locks; the National Trust village of Lacock which has Lacock Abbey and has been used as a set for various films and TV programmes; Bowood House with its famous Capability Brown gardens and golf course, spa and children's adventure playground; the Neolithic stone henge monument at Avebury, Silbury Hill, and the West Kennet Long Barrow; the picturesque village of Castle Combe; the historic market town of Corsham with Corsham Court; the market town of Marlborough; the Georgian City of Bath is about 35 minutes away; Stonehenge is about 40 minutes drive; Salisbury is about 1 hour away. There is a variety of places to eat nearby including village and town pubs and a range of restaurants. There is a well stocked farm shop about 5 minutes away, a village shop about 10 minutes away, and a range of supermarkets within 15-20 drive.
  • Great hosts as always, highly recommended, Spotlessly clean.

  • Great host highly recommended, just a shame it was only the 1 night stay as I would of loved to stay longer. Definitely will stay again.

    Rob2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • The North Transept is beautifully converted and it is a warm, comfortable and well-equipped place to stay. Its location is perfect for enjoying the countryside or visiting the nearby towns. Sarah was very welcoming and had plenty of local recommendations for places to eat out and things to do. For staying in, the kitchen has everything you might need, the bed is very comfy, and the apartment and garden are simply a lovely place to relax and enjoy some peace and calm.

    Myles2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The place was fantastic! The converted church is beautiful and unique, and the host was extremely friendly and diligent.

    David2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • The North Transept is absolutely beautiful! The grounds, too, are very impressive and the setting so tranquil and picturesque. Wonderful comfortable bed, toasty underfloor heating, all the amenities you could think of; all in a truly unique setting. Tara, the goldie, is an added bonus - lovely cuddles when you're missing your own dogs! Don't hesitate to book - you will love it.

    Rachel2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • If you want a quiet get away to relax this is the perfect place in a quiet village. Everything needed to for a comfortable stay. Bed was very nice too ! Great pubs local that do great food, and not to far away from Bath.

  • Caroline’s place is in the perfect location for exploring the nearby attractions in Avebury etc. It’s quiet and peaceful, with pubs and shops in the nearby Devizes. The accommodation was much bigger than I thought, and we each had separate shower rooms next to our bedrooms which was nice. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking to stay somewhere close to Avebury.

It has everything you could need for a trip away and the location is perfect for Devizes, Stonehenge and Laycock. There is also a lovely local pub a 15 minute walk away. This little cottage is modern, clean and light with an open plan kitchen to the right as you step in the door and seating beyond with french doors leading out into the garden. The bedroom is small but comfortable with plenty of space for clothes in a fitted wardrobe with hanging and shelves. The bathroom en suite has a bath with shower, WC, basin and fresh white towels. Surrounded by nature, trees, shrubs and with the sound of birds to wake up to this is a truly relaxing place.
A car is recommended as there is no bus going past the door, although Lacock is a lovely walk down the hill past the church of St Anne's and the Rising Sun pub with its stunning sunset views over the valley - it is more of an effort coming back up the hill! Close nearby visit Bowood in Derry Hill, a beautiful Georgian house with aRhododendron park in spring, and heavenly grounds to explore with a waterfall and landscape designed by Capability Brown. Just down the hill is the charming unspoiled village of Lacock with the Fox Talbot Museum of Photography, Lacock Abbey with its lovely covered cloister and grounds, atmospheric old pubs and tea rooms, walks and a ford over the little river by the old church of St Cyriac's. The moated medieval Great Chalfield Manor and its Arts and Crafts garden is close by too with its terraces, topiary houses, gazebo and roses - the house was used as the location for Killewarran House in Poldark. The market town of Devizes is buzzing with life on a Thursday. It has a Cinema, a charming Italian cafe Dolcepani in Old Swan Yard and The Pepper Mill restaurant is highly recommended for delicious food and atmosphere. Visit the beautiful city of Bath with its Roman Baths, the medieval Abbey with a gothic interior, Pulteney Bridge lined with shops and the hot spring waters of Thermae Bath Spa for relaxation and treatments. 30 minutes by car Longleat House, Wildlife and Safari park is 45 minutes away. Walk amongst the stone circles built around the village of Avebury and part of an extraordinary set of Neolithic and Bronze Age ceremonial sites that seemingly formed a vast sacred landscape. They include West Kennet Avenue, West Kennet Long Barrow, The Sanctuary, Windmill Hill, and the mysterious Silbury Hill nearby. The buzzing city of Bristol is only 45 minutes to an hour away.
  • This is a lovely cottage, super quiet. Set in Spye park, with a beautiful garden. Exactly as the photos. Top of Bowden hill. Great views from St Ann's church near by. Proved an ideal base for our family history research. Even did a parkrun in Chippenham in Monkton park along the river Avon.

    Annabelle2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • The Cottage is absolutely lovely - being immersed in the garden and then coming back to the warm space inside to read and relax was great and it’s an easy walk down to Lacock and to St Anne’s church. Spye Park is also really beautiful to explore and the Cottage is the best base for it!

    Giulia2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely rural place. Hosts not home but we had everything we needed for a long winter weekend. On arrival the cottage was warmly lit and very cosy warm. Bed very comfy, plenty of home comforts. Lots of birds outside scattering through the bushes made up for poor tv listings! We will return to explore the orchard and lake in less muddy weather.

    Linda2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Alexandras place is a true gem! Hidden on a hill just above a beautiful village. The house was super clean, very cosy and had everything we nedded. There's a beautiful garden just outside. I would always come back.

    Maik2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely little cottage, in very peaceful surroundings. It was my first time staying somewhere through Airbnb, & this place is definitely a wonderful little find. I only live down the road in Melksham, but I am Autisitic, & sometimes just need a couple of days to myself to rest & recover from the stresses of life. This place certainly is the ideal place for that. Bigger than I expected, spotlessly clean, excellent internet service, efficient & adequate heating & hot water. The cottage is surrounded by beautiful gardens, & one afternoon I even saw a deer in the back garden. Just down the road there are some beautiful views across the countryside too. The owners checked that I had everything I needed on the evening of arrival, & then I was left to simply enjoy my time there, knowing I could still contact them if necessary. Exactly the kind of break I needed. I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a homely, comfortable & peaceful break.

  • Cosy, well appointed cottage close to lots of local areas of interest.

    James2019-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • A tranquil, rural cottage. It is sparkling clean and well fitted out for a self catering stay. You'll feel miles away here but it is close to Chippenham, Melksham and of course Lacock. We have woken up to deer grazing in the garden most mornings.

My place is right in the Village centre to the side of Quintessentially English our organic soap shop. You'll love it because of its location. We leave a breakfast basket in your own personal adjoining lounge room for you and a selection of our organic handmade soaps. There's a lovely view from the window of the garden opposite and if you are really lucky and they are filming in the village you just might see a movie star! Additional free night for half a days gardening!
It's a perfect base to explore. Lacock is close to Bath and also only 45 minutes from Stonehenge and 20 minutes from Avebury. It's also close to Castle Combe one of England's finest villages. There's lots to see in Lacock it's home to the world renowned Fox Talbot museum of photography and beautiful Abbey.
The accommodation is right in the heart of the village, Lacock Abbey is only a four minute level walk. A selection of interesting shops and restaurants are also within the village. It’s also only twenty minutes to Bath.

Had a whole floor to ourselves, with a private bathroom, lovely sitting area and the comfiest bed in the bedroom. Very stylishly decorated with lots of personal touches. The breakfast basket was great for the morning. Recommend the Red Lion for food! Was a perfect one night stay to visit the abbey.

Our beautiful country cottage lies in the grounds of our lovingly landscaped garden, which we have tended to carefully over the 30 years we have lived here. The cottage, which was originally built around 1850 and is separate to our main house, has recently been renovated to turn it into a charming characterful space that is just perfect for couples, small families, solo adventurers and business travellers.
Inside the private cottage you will find a living space with a brand new kitchen complete with mod cons including an oven, fridge and espresso maker. Comfy seats crowd round a log burner, which is perfect for creating a snug atmosphere in the evenings, although the underfloor heating in the cottage should keep you nice and toasty. The living room also has a TV and there is wifi available throughout the cottage. Separate to the main living space is a neat bedroom with a comfortable double bed. An oak chest of drawers has been placed in the room to allow you to unpack, and there are hooks to hang up any special items. Just off the bedroom is a modern bathroom with a large walk-in shower, toilet and sink.
Seend is a charming village in rural Wiltshire. There is a local shop, a play park, post office and local pub all within five minutes' walk of the cottage, and a canal that runs by the village that is popular with ramblers. The village is also perfectly positioned for those who wish to see the many historical tourist spots that the area has to offer, such as UNESCO World Heritage sites Stonehenge and Avebury, or explore the nearby city of Bath or neighbouring picturesque towns Marlborough and Devizes.
  • An amazing stay. We played tennis, enjoyed the light at sunrise and sunset in the beautiful surroundings and loved the peace and tranquillity. The cottage was cosy with the wood burner and had everything we needed for a long weekend. Perfect escape!

  • The Garden Cottage at Joanna and Francis’ Manor Cottage is just stellar. Brian and I enjoyed our stay immensely! Everything was just perfect - amenities, views, communication, cleanliness, views, location, and VIEWS! Did I say views?!?! Joanna and Francis own a gem and it is so very kind of them to share it with us! Thank you sweet friends!💕

The cottage was super cosy and the gardens have stunning views! We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you for a lovely stay!

My cottage is in the lovely village of Bromham, close Devizes. There are great views and country walks right outside the door. You’ll love my place because of the amazing views, peaceful atmosphere and friendly village. We've a well-equipped kitchen, plus there's a wood burner for cozy evenings by the fire. You get the whole place to yourself, but our bedroom and box room are locked. It's great for couples, solo adventurers and anyone who wants a quiet and peaceful base.
The village shop is one minute round the corner and open from early until 7 or 8pm. The village also has a good butcher and there are several great pubs close by. The nearby town of Devizes has lots of the nice shops, supermarkets etc and is about 3 miles away.
  • My girlfriend and I stayed in Alex’s beautiful home for a few day’s on the weekend before Christmas. It was the perfect getaway to relax and unwind, as the cottage has everything you need if you just want to be lazy and forget about everything! Everything in the cottage was lovely and clean and had real character - with a beautiful view on a sunny day across the local town! Only about 20mins drive from Bath too which is great for a day or evening out :)

  • Alex and Helens home is absolutely amazing!! Super clean and comfortable, they really have thought about every single need for people staying. The house is decorated so well, and Alex made sure we were given detailed information about how to get there and using amenities in the house. It was a stress free trip to a cute cottage with super a friendly community. Drives to Bath and Bristol are pretty easy too! Will definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a relaxing peaceful time!

  • Highly recommend this spotlessly clean, beautifully equipped home. Warm, comfy and perfect for my fiancé and I as a base to tour the fascinating historical sites at Avebury and Glastonbury. Superb stay. Thank you Alex.

  • This is a great place to stay and I would certainly recommend Alex's cottage to anyone who loves a good view and a clean, cozy and beautiful space to be.

  • We had a fabulous stay at this lovely cottage that totally lived up to expectation from the photos - plus it was very quiet and relaxed, just what we wanted. Loved being able to have a fire as well but it wasn't cold without it either, and for anyone wanting to sit, read, have a coffee or glass of something there are blankets, lots of places to sit and great views to really feel cosy. For a country cottage it's actually quite spacious and thoughtfully furnished plus the kitchen is really well equipped. The Greyhound pub that serves a decent selection of food/drink is a five minute walk and the village shop is just around the corner for essentials. We were there for four days of total relaxation but if you want to head further afield, Devizes is really close and there's lots of suggestions/info at the cottage and a quick internet connection. We loved there was NO TV in fact one of the reasons we picked it! Can't wait to go back for another recharging break!

  • It is exactly as described ‘Charming, peaceful, cozy cottage with great views’ All the homely touches, the books, plants etc are very much to our taste. We loved it and would definitely recommend it. Alex was very helpful with full instructions to help us find the property etc and also quick to respond. The breakfast basket was also a lovely touch We will be returning for another weekend break as still lots to explore in the area!

  • Lovely, cozy cottage. So wonderful village Bromham is, and everyone nice and helpful. We went to Stonehenge and Cotswolds from Alex's house. (I think Bristol or Oxford are not far away too) .Highly recommended for travelers. The exchange was in English, and the day we stayed was self-check-in, but there was no problem at all because it was explained carefully in advance. A car is almost required for access, but there are few tourists and it is a secret spot (but there are also pubs). I think it is a good base for enjoying the countryside of England.

  • An absolutely lovely stay. This cozy home was so thoughtful and warm. It also included three of my most favorite things... wonderful lighting, a fabulous library and a soul-filling view. I would stay again in a heartbeat.

Our 18th century stone cottage used to belong to the Lacock Abbey estate . We are surrounded by pretty listed cottages and there are fine views across the fields. Chippenham is about five miles away with several restaurants and pubs and a sports centre which includes a heated indoor swimming pool. There are several large parks in Chippenham with Monkton Park having the river Avon flowing through it. In Melksham there is a large soft play centre for younger children. We are very lucky to have many excellent pubs in the villages surrounding Lacock, details of which can be found in Spire View.
  • One of the most enjoyable stays we have ever experienced. Vivienne was very welcoming and a lovely host. The accommodation is really lovely and well equipped. Lots of personal touches and generous extras like butter, milk, eggs, teas and coffees, condiments, bread and biscuits. Vivienne was incredibly helpful and she really went above and beyond! Thank you! We would not hesitate to return and so very much enjoyed walking into Lacock and exploring this lovely area.

    Barbara2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • This place was cleaner and more complete than any hostel I have ever been to. It was perfectly clean without a single dust stain. The house was as pretty and fantastic as the fairy tale house. Vivian was a very kind and well communicated person. I'm sure it's the best Airbnb.

    희진2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
