Stay in our Carmel Rustic Cabin along with your FurKid (see dog fee below) while shopping, visiting local wineries and restaurants or just walking your dog off-leash along Carmel's white sandy beach. Hidden in the woods, our rustic cabin is like a treehouse with all the amenities and minutes from downtown and the beaches. FYI the coast drive is now accessible between here and LA, but may be shut down during stormy weather, so be sure to follow local weather reports or just call Caltrans.
You'll find our Rustic Cabin like a Treehouse is perfect for two . . . Simple. Comfortable and Cozy (250 sq ft). PLUS, the cabin is very quiet, very private, and equipped with a small "kitchenette," super high-speed WIFI for streaming and cable TV. We are Pet Friendly and would love to entertain your beloved Fido, but PLEASE NOTE . . . we are now charging $25 extra for one to two small to mid-size dogs. Dog surcharge will be added after you've booked. We also ask that you bring the appropriate dog bedding as well as food and water dishes. Deer and other wild animals are often around at night, so don't be spooked if your dog decides to growl a bit. Even squirrels will set our dogs off. We provide coffee and tea to get you started in the morning. No kitchen is available, but there is a microwave, small refrigerator, kettle, coffee pot, toaster, and dishes - all ideal for take out. You'll be located on the same property as our family home, but totally detached from the house (about 50 steps down from the parking area) and with no other guests to disturb you. For those of you who have allergies, please keep in mind that Pets have been in the room previously. Also, because we're located in the woods, pollens may be a problem for you as well. If you're visiting California's central coast for the first time, you'll find Carmel and the surrounding area an idyllic haven boasting nearly 100 miles of spectacular shoreline - described as the 'greatest meeting of land and sea.' The unbridled beauty of Carmel and Monterey County's landscape and the mild, year-round weather offer endless opportunities for outdoor pursuits. Family-centered activities abound and there truly is something for everyone.
The cabin is situated in a quiet residential neighborhood facing the Pebble Beach Forest Conservancy adjacent to Pescadero, a little used road where neighbors like to walk their dogs, or where cyclists test their strength on a grueling hill full of switchbacks. Want to look out on the forest? Want to watch birds whiz by with squirrels nearby? You can, yet we're so close to town, it takes 10 minutes to walk to the post office. Also, you might like to know Carmel has been voted one of the Top Ten Dog Friendly places in the country. WOOF! So, bring your dog. Please check the CALENDAR tab above to determine whether we've been booked.
  • Stay was great, good location! Power went out but came back on. Thanks Tom!

  • Small cabin, great for a couple and fur baby friendly. Nearby hiking and plenty of places in walking distance.

    Eric2020-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great location close to town with a lovely balcony overlooking a lush ravine. Nice additional touches in the room as well. Thanks Tom!!

    Angela2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at Tom's place, and we were so happy to return. We were able to stay a bit longer this time, and enjoyed more time on the small patio and in town which is very close. It was quiet and peaceful, and a great location for us and the dogs! We are already hoping to return again!

    Angela2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy little cabin in the trees. This was a very peaceful spot and we really enjoyed our stay here. Sitting on the balcony with a beer after a long drive was delightfully relaxing. Close to everything Carmel has to offer, but just enough off the beaten track. All in all, a great find.

    Judy2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We booked this trip as a short get-away from the hustle-and-bustle of the Bay Area and demanding jobs. Tom's place was exactly what we needed. It is a quiet neighborhood not far from downtown but far enough to offer peace and tranquility; it was the best of both worlds. The cabin itself is on a hillside down some steps from the main house. It is very private and surrounded by lush trees and plants. There is a cute little deck facing down the hill to enjoy coffee and snacks. The cabin offers basic amenities, which is all we needed, including a very comfy bed. It was very clean and quaint. Tom is very kind and a great host. We love this place and can't wait to return!

    Victoria2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great and cute accommodation. You have to go down some stairs in Order to reach the housing but Tom installed some lights which makes it very easy to find. We enjoyed our stay.

    Jessica2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Very rustic and charming place surrounded by nature. Friendly host. Close proximity to center of town. A bit small but we just needed a place to sleep so it was perfect. Highly recommended and would love to come back again.

This charming historic studio was once owned by American author John Steinbeck. It's been featured in several articles including “20 Romantic AirBnB Getaways”, “Get Cultured While You Sleep at These AirBnBs That are Historical Landmarks” and in Airbnb Magazine's June/July 2019 edition. As of May 27, 2020, there is a 30-night minimum stay for this cottage. Special rates will apply - 65% off the daily rate and no city occupancy tax.
Currently, there is construction at our next door neighbor's house. The work is being done Monday - Friday during the day. Please be aware that there will be some noise during the day. 'I bought a small house and garden in Pacific Grove...' (John Steinbeck: A Life in Letters). American author John Steinbeck wrote these words to a friend about this charming house he called home in the 1940s. This cozy studio retreat has one bedroom with a queen bed and and a sitting area, a spacious full bathroom, and a fully stocked kitchen. There is cable TV and wireless internet. The studio is approximately 350 square feet. It is original 1920's architecture and has short doorways throughout the studio. Taller guests will need to mind their heads passing through entry-ways. It is one of three cottages on the property and has a unique and rich literary history, having belonged to John Steinbeck in the early 1940's. He used it as his writing studio and worked on novels including The Sea of Cortez while living here. It has been renovated to pay homage to the period and history of the property. It has a masculine and sophisticated, yet romantic feel.
The property is in a quiet residential neighborhood in Pacific Grove. It offers plenty of street parking. As for the city, Pacific Grove has been called “Butterfly Town U.S.A.,” “The Most Romantic City in the U.S.,” “A Dreamy California Destination, ” as well as an idyllic place to get married, to honeymoon or to just hang out. Some of it is self-proclaimed, some the acclaim of people who have actually visited Pacific Grove. You will find Pacific Grove on the very tip of the scenic, tree-shrouded Monterey Peninsula with a rocky coastline and an ambiance of charm, grace and beauty. Founded in the 1870s as a Methodist summer retreat, Pacific Grove still bears the look and feel of yesteryear. As you stroll the residential streets admiring the charm of home after home, you will notice little plaques on many of the homes that bear the name of the original owner and the year in which it was built. To qualify for a plaque from the Heritage Society of Pacific Grove, a structure must look like it did when it was originally built. Among its visitors are brightly colored orange-and-black Monarch butterflies, who overwinter in Pacific Grove after traveling up to 2,000 miles, arriving by the thousands starting in October, peaking around Christmas and departing by March. Besides its scenic beauty and idyllic neighborhoods, Pacific Grove offers an eclectic downtown experience, with small boutiques, gift shops, art galleries, antique stores and more. Other vibrant shopping areas are along Central Avenue at the entrance to Pacific Grove from Cannery Row and at the top of Forest Avenue on Forest Hill.
  • Such a wonderful stay in this historic cottage! I highly recommend this to literature buffs and anyone wanting to explore the area.

  • We had a lovely stay in the Writers Studio. Everything we needed to be comfortable was close at hand. We loved the decor and we were just a short downhill walk to many restaurants and activities. I would definitely stay again. Communication was always quick, friendly and easy. Thanks again Kevin and Vicky 🤩

  • The Steinbeck Writing Studio is a MUST DO for any John Steinbeck reader/fan. Even if you aren’t a Steinbeck fan, the studio is a perfect quiet retreat for an individual or couple. It has an eclectic charm that makes you feel so cozy and comfortable, that you’ll want to curl up and read all day. The location is fantastic and very walkable. We walked all over Pacific Grove, Cannery Row and Monterey. We never drove the car once after we arrived. Kevin and Vicky were very responsive and thoughtful hosts. We would highly recommend the studio to anyone! 5 stars all day!

    Blake2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in the Steinbeck cottage. Easy check-in, and close to the many attractions and restaurants the Monterey peninsula offers.

    Hunter2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place was wonderful, centrally located, good access to parking, great Wi-Fi, and all the charm we could handle.

    Bill2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is an AirBnb you will absolute want to book. Every single detail you could want or think to put into a place Kevin and Vicky did. A book full of tips, suggestions, and reviews of different places around town. The perfect location to access those places as well as a perfect cottage to retreat to after the long day. I loved reading why other people had come to the cottage with the journal left for guests to write in. The place itself was spotless and stocked full of all the things that make you feel at home. I really couldn’t of wanted more or had a better time staying at this AirBnb. Thank you guys again so much!

Residential neighborhood so we are removed from the main dining and shopping scene, 1.5 miles from beach, 3 miles from downtown, Bay views
  • I cannot recommend staying with Annemarie and Jesse enough! They were incredibly hospitable and created the most cozy environment for a weekend away - a fire continuously burning in the fireplace, and board games out on the table each night. The house has an air of community and lightness, and our hosts had great recommendations on what to do in the area each day. Not to mention how beautifully maintained the historic house and its gardens were! Thank you for a lovely getaway, we hope to be back soon.

    Kathryn2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • We almost felt home in this cosy house. Great breakfast, very nice location, super great hosts. They gave us a lot of valuable information about the neighbourhood and places to visit. Most of all, they help us getting an early flight back home during this difficult time (covid19).

    Léo2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Seaside was the 2nd stage of our roadtrip after San Francisco. The house is ideally located, in a very calm and impeccably clean environment. Annemarie and Jesse are in perfect hospitality. In addition Annemarie speaks French, which can be very useful when our English vocabulary is limited. We will not hesitate to return on a future trip.

    Jean-Jacques2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • If you're still reading this review and deciding whether or not to book here - BOOK HERE! Do it! Annemarie and Jesse are such wonderful hosts. Their house and garden is absolutely charming. The breakfast was delicious. Just a short drive to everything you want to see in the area. Hope to stay again!

    Betsy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay in the Monterey area. But what made it truly special was our time at Annemarie and Jesse's lovely home. They were easy going and helpful in every way and made our journey even that more pleasurable.

    Michael2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Feels like home :) My favorite place to stay in Seaside. I keep coming back and can't get enough. Thank you, Annemarie, Jesse and Jocelyne!

    Katieann2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended - beautiful historic house with wonderful hosts, wonderful gardens, great breakfast in the morning. Always a pleasure to stay here!

    Briar2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, tranquil, must-stay experience. Annemarie, Jesse and Jocelyne think of everything, and I feel so cared for, body and soul, when I stay here (I'm a happy repeat customer, I've stayed here multiple times on my visits to Monterey). The inn feels like a home - inviting fireplace in the living room in the evenings, nourishing and tasty breakfast in the dining room in the mornings, and many cozy spots to sit in the garden, relax, meditate, whatever you need. The inn is centrally located - close to the bay, Big Sur - so you can go out if you like, or you can completely relax in this cozy spot. This room is particularly lovely- giant bed, writing desk, chairs to relax in, and a distant view of the water. Thank you for a lovely stay, I can't wait to visit again!

The fragrance of the flowers as you enter the backyard is so lovely and relaxing after a long day at work. I'll definitely be back!

  • First of all, I have to boast of the landlord's mother, an 86-year-old enthusiastic old man Jiang teacher. When we drove to the place early, she was already waiting at home, and gave us the ticket card of the aquarium booked in time, and also eagerly guided us how to park for free, so that we found the parking lot without any difficulty. Secondly, the bedroom and bathroom are very clean, the sheets and quilts are all new and have a strong aroma. The bathroom items are neat and tidy, which is a bit like staying at a five-star hotel. The kitchen can be used to boil water and microwave ovens and refrigerators. It is convenient for us to make simple meals. Of course, she also asks if she needs tableware, even if we have our own. It’s about 20 minutes drive from Monterey and 17 miles away. Thanks again to Kevin and his mother Jiang, if you come back later, we will definitely choose your home! We are also very willing to recommend to friends, I wish you good health and a smooth career! (Shanghai Friends: Corten )

*Floor to ceiling windows look out to beautiful large tiled patio and gardens. Window coverings assure your privacy. Our repeat guests love the studio and have affirmed our commitment to providing you with a wonderfully relaxing stay with us. The Calendar is updated daily - feel free to book instantly - the studio is always ready for guests. Please be aware that the second bed (for a third guest), is a twin air bed, which can be found in the closet with extra linens. It can be "tight" with the airbed opened but okay for a place to sleep and then deflate bed during the day, if you are on a budget or for a child. Although we have tried to be as transparent as possible with our description, we invite you to check all of the amenities section for a complete list. Pooches welcome with prior approval! ( $29. pet fee per pooch, per visit.) Completely fenced-in yard, within walking distance to a lovely nature preserve. Pooches are not to be left unattended in yard, due to barking and other issues. We do not accept cats or birds in the studio. If you like peace and privacy, this is the place for you. Please see pet guidelines further down in this description! Come and go as you please at any hour of the day or night without the fear of disturbing us, as you have your own entrance and do not go through the main house at all. Enjoy this fabulous super sunny master bedroom studio, with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out on huge fenced tiled patio with fruit trees and gardens. I am most welcoming, yet unobtrusive, so that you will find this to be a comfortable oasis. I travel often, of course, I am reachable for any questions, advice, requests or needs via the AirBnB booking thread or cell phone for any urgent matters. You will enter through a side gate, walk down the adobe paved path, lit with motion-sensor spots, through the heirloom roses, which are highly scented when in bloom. No need to go through the main house, as the studio is separate from the rest of the main house, (although attached by one common wall.) You will walk past the main house to enter the studio. Super-private and very quiet, except for the birds, yet centrally located; five minutes to downtown Monterey, Laguna Seca Raceway or CSUMB and ten minutes to Monterey Bay Aquarium. There is a 24-hour Safeway and Walgreen's just 2 minutes away, in case you have any midnight cravings! Trader Joe's and Whole Foods are 10 minutes away. We are located in a wonderful little sun belt, perched high upon a hilltop with a nice view of Monterey Bay in a very quiet residential neighborhood, so typically we are above any fog – especially during the summer season when the rest of the Monterey Peninsula could be socked-in! We are at the top of a street which ends in a cul-de-sac so there is not a lot of through traffic and super-easy street parking right in front of the house. Painted in a soothing palette and tastefully furnished, the studio is comprised of large sunny master bedroom with hardwood floors and your own private updated Travertine marble bathroom (shower - no tub) supplied with towels, hairdryer and high-quality toiletries. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer a view of patio, creating a sunny and bright ambiance. A dimmer switch for the overhead chandelier, a writing table, and new smart TV with remote control plus wi-fi make your stay complete. If you do watch a program or film that has an additional viewing cost on Amazon or Netflix, you will be billed after your checkout. The detailed FAQ binder has been very helpful to our guests and includes restaurant menus and helpful suggestions. Also, there is a lot of info on the local area and attractions. The studio is heated through vents by a gas forced-air furnace, (controlled by the thermostat located in the main house) and if you need extra heat, there are more blankets plus a space heater for your complete comfort. It rarely gets that cold here, but if we do get a cold snap in Jan or Feb I want you to be totally comfortable! A fan is there for those hot days we get once in a while! Sleep peacefully in the Queen-sized bed outfitted with 100% cotton linens (line dried when possible) and cozy blankets, then enjoy breakfast outside on the patio when weather permits. Our guests have raved about the bed! For an extra guest, there is a twin air bed. (tight but doable if you are on a budget or traveling with child.) We use scent-free laundry products. The kitchenette/breakfast bar includes a new microwave, and coffee maker (filters provided - byo coffee please.) The under-the-counter fridge has a separate freezer compartment with ice trays big enough for some frozen foods or ice cream. (Note: this is not a full kitchen, so please don't plan any major cooking in the room.) Set up for reheating, take out, etc. We switched to compostable cups, plates, silverware, etc. There are real wine glasses and mugs. NOTE! We ask that you don't use all appliances at once while using hairdryer, as it may trigger the circuit breaker. Access is through the large fenced-in beautiful, sunny patio in the backyard, filled with organic raised bed vegetable gardens which change seasonally, fruit trees and roses. This is a great location, centrally located between Highway One and Highway 68, near the recreation trail, Frog Pond, beaches and terrific hills for a morning or evening stroll. No smoking inside – okay on patio. Dogs allowed with extra charge of $29. per visit, per pooch. Please advise in advance of any dogs when you are making your booking - i will then send you an alteration to add the pet fee. Pets must be supervised in the backyard at all times. You will be responsible for any pet damage to property. There is a pet section in the FAQ binder which has lots of dog-friendly places in the area. Please also read the following PET GUIDELINES: - dogs are not permitted on the furniture - dogs may only be left in studio if they are kenneled and do not bark when left alone in an unfamiliar place, no exceptions - please bring your own pet bedding and do not use towels, bedspread or bath mats for dogs - dogs may not be left unattended on the back patio, due to complaints of excessive barking and digging - dogs not allowed in garden beds - when walking your pooch, please avoid the neighbors across the street on either corner, as they have complained and I want to keep my neighbors happy! Also, please pick up after your pooch and dispose of properly. A sophisticated foodie and twenty-nine year resident of the Monterey Peninsula, I am a great resource of information if needed. Also, the studio is also stocked with books on the area, local magazines & brochures, and a binder with menus from my favorite restaurants, brochures and information on local attractions, plus various local offers are stashed in the desk drawer. There is a fully equipped gym 2 minutes away for those who want to get their workout in. Check out the desk drawers for passes to one of our local wine tasting rooms and other attractions, as they come available. If you need restaurant recommendations prior to arrival, I am happy to assist. My edited list of favorite go-to spots are in the FAQ binder. If your party is larger than two (i.e. a 3rd person, or a child) please contact us in advance with questions about twin air bed prior to your arrival. (stored with extra linens in the closet.) Rates may be slightly higher during major events including AT&T Pro-Am, Concours d'Elegance, US Open, Jazz Festival, etc. I live in the main house. Though we do clean the studio thoroughly between guests, you should be aware that we are a dog-friendly property. No cats allowed in the studio. I use scent-free laundry detergent on all of the towels and bed linens. BOOK WITH CONFIDENCE - CALENDAR IS UP-TO-DATE! • I had to move to the Monterey area for a new job and it happened to coincide with Shelter-In-Place restrictions. I couldn't move into my new house for a couple of weeks still, so thankfully Helaine's rental was available. She was extremely accommodating and patient with me with all the chaos that ensued with COVID-19, my pets and the upcoming move. I couldn't have asked for a better spot to Shelter in Place, as her house was close to everything I needed for necessities and she was available to answer my questions and replenish my supplies. I would whole-heartedly recommend Helaine's rental to anyone who needs a chic, clean and convenient place to stay while in Monterey.

Jim makes sure you have everything you need and offers breakfast in the morning on weekends. I'm bummed I didn't have time this trip, but I will definitely stay with him on my next trip.

  • If you are a low maintenance travel- book now! He let us park in the driveway. The room was more spacious than anticipated which was a plus. My fiancé and I had plenty of space to lay our suitcases wide open at the same time. They had waters and tissues which came in handy. Highly recommend and the dumplings and tea were a huge cherry on top!

    Xio2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jim and Helen were incredibly warm and inviting. The space was comfortable and very easy to check in and out of. We were blown away by how accommodating they were—and the warm, delicious dumplings the morning we departed were literally the highlight of our trip to Monterey!

    John2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a wonderful three day at Jim's place while visiting Carmel and Monterey. It's very convenient and a great value with many less expensive dining options nearby too. The room is spotlessly clean with several bottles of water as well. The bathroom, also very clean, is just steps down the hall and was private for us. There is a space heater in the room which made it very cosy and warm. Jim and his family are extremely friendly and welcoming, we loved the dumplings he made us for breakfast!

  • Ashley’s Beach House is a little sanctuary... Our family home needed some repairs during Covid-19 SIP time (which was stressful) but I was able to rest so comfortably with our 2 yr old once we walked in the door. Ashley has thoughtfully designed the space to create a space that’s private and peaceful. Everything was so clean, the check-in/check-out instructions were clearly communicated and the ability to have Netflix & awesome WiFi were super pluses. Looking forward to our next stay as a family!

  • Very very cozy! if youre there solo, it’ll be very nice, as it feels like your own space. it looks small, and there are no doors separating each different part of the cottage, but it still felt like each room was separate, despite that fact. very hospitable host, answered very quickly and was on top of it in terms of cleanliness, amenities, local tips, etc. you rule, Ashley! 👍🏽 -Alyssa M.

  • We loved our stay - it really exceeded our expectations. It truly is a cozy cottage. We found peace and calm in the backyard, we could walk to the beach for a sunset and could eat dinner on the back porch - what more could you want? The cherry on top was Cathy & Robert’s conversation and freshly baked bread!

    Jacs2020-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Clementine Cottage is charming and so are hosts Cathy and Robert. Highly recommend!

    Lisa2020-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful 2 months in Cathy and Robert’s place. I loved the location. I liked how it was so close to the highway 1 entrance. It’s right at the edge of Monterey and Seaside. I think I ended up eating most of my meals in Seaside. The place is private and at the back of Cathy and Robert’s house. You get a private entrance through the backyard. It’s very spacious and had plenty of room to hang up and store my things. The bathroom is ADA compliant so the shower is big but is in the same area as the toilet. There’s a large curtain that pulls all the way around the shower area. It takes some getting used to. Eventually I found the best angle to point the shower head to minimize the amount of water that got close to the toilet. Cathy and Robert were very responsive and friendly. Whenever I had any problems or needed refills in some of the amenities, they were quick to respond. This place was definitely a great place to stay in Monterey!

    Stefanie2019-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • Cathryn and Robert are the best hosts anyone could ask for. They made everything so easy and were very easy to talk to in case I needed anything. Robert's paintings made the space extra special too, and more than once he dropped off some freshly baked bread for me (it was delicious!). I had a wonderful stay and recommend Cathryn and Robert's place for anyone looking to stay in the area.

    Sarah2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Robert and Cathy are THE BEST Airbnb hosts on the planet. They have become family. The cottage is wonderful in every way, and I cannot wait to come back sometime in the near future. Book without hesitation!!

    Alexandre2019-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • The cozy cottage is a great place to live! We stayed there for more than two months and had a great time! The bed is very comfortable, the kitchen is small but you have everything to cook a great meal! We also enjoyed the small terrace in the morning, with some coffee and the best bread from our host Robert. Thank you!

    Annika2019-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Cathy and Robert’s place for two months and thoroughly enjoyed my stay! The room had a private entrance as described and I stayed warm while I was there. I didn’t cook, but they have plenty of cooking appliances available for use. The bed was comfy, the sheets were very soft, and everything about it felt like home. Also, their home is close to so many local spots! Downtown Monterey, the aquarium, and Carmel are all about a 15 min drive. You can also walk to the park in the neighborhood. Cathy and Robert were very generous hosts! And they make the most amazing sourdough bread! I highly recommend this Airbnb.

  • Lone Oak was cute and the perfect little motel stay for a solo trip to monterey/big sur. Clean, and easy to check-in/out. Quiet mostly! I enjoyed my stay and would stay again. I wish they actually had a comforter on the bed, they have thin blankets so I had to ask for a couple extra to stay warm otherwise it was fine!

Inside you'll find all the amenities, 1 Bedroom with NEW QUEEN BED (no pictures yet), full kitchen, full bath, Direct TV and a very nice fold out couch.
  • Ray and Michelle are wonderful hosts and offer a charming and comfortable guest house. They also have a yard for the dogs to play in which was very welcomed by my 8 month old puppy. Easy drives to Carmel, Asilomar, Garland ranch National Park and Big Sur. Would definitely stay here again! Thanks, Michelle and Ray!

  • Such a great experience. Thanks!

    Shanna2020-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Bar none; the best AirBNB experience I have ever had. We adored getting to know Ray & Michelle + family. We fell in love with the two patio spaces attached to the unit, and used both for meals, to watch the sunset/sunrise, to exercise, and to pour a glass and relax. The space was spotless and inviting. The bed was comfortable and the shower spacious. The ambiance was top notch! We got some stellar local recommendations. The beach is close and even visible from the top balcony. Ray & Michelle were beyond accommodating when we had concerns or needs. Our stay-cation was magical! Most important, to me, was the fact that Michelle & Ray truly are pet people! My little pup was so happy and welcomed. Loved the little touches in the space specifically for dogs. Great experience all the way around!

  • This spot is a great value. The features of this place were carefully thought out and well maintained. You’ll find this place to be better than any hotel in Monterey or small cottage in Pacific Grove. There are two wonderful balconies to enjoy. The living, dining, and bedroom areas are very comfy. We would gladly stay again!

  • Awesome place with excellent hosts! We had a great time and highly recommend this place.

  • Ray’s place is exactly as described...and more! Cozy spot with plenty of natural light and beautiful views. Easy to get to from the highway and a very relaxing spot to return to at the end of the day. Spacious space with plenty of room to relax, cook a meal, read quietly and sleep! The bed was amazingly comfortable! Ray was very quick to handle an issue we had with hot water, fixing the issue in minutes. He checked in with us to be sure we were comfortable and made sure we knew we could reach he or his wife anytime. Lovely folks! Would definitely stay here again.

IN COMPLIANCE WITH OUR COUNTY LOCK DOWN GUIDELINES OUR COTTAGE IS OPEN TO ESSENTIAL TRAVEL. Coastal Cottage C is set in Sand City's Westend art community located on the Monterey Peninsula. It's a bustle of industry and art which quiets down to a peaceful still in the evening.

  • My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by this little cottage. It was like a little home away from home. It was nice to walk in and find it clean, some snacks and a little souvenir from Andy. We would definitely recommend the place to others.

    Lida2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • I came to Monterey for a conference and decided I wanted a more homey place to stay than a hotel room. Andy’s cottage was perfect. It was clean, cozy, and Andy added thoughtful touches like water bottles, snacks, local suggestions, and a sweet hand carved welcoming gift. The WiFi was strong, and though the cottage doesn’t have a full kitchen, the electric pan, toaster oven, and electric kettle were all I needed. I would definitely recommend staying at this delightful cottage.

    Shaina2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • The space was great, and the host provided us with some complimentary water bottles and some snacks. The location is great, and the cottage had plenty of space for the two of us. The heater makes some random noise once in a while, and though the sounds weren’t excessive, it woke me and my wife a few times because we are light sleepers. But it was cozy and the bed was comfy, so we had no problem falling back asleep. The recommendations for food and activities from the host were helpful and enjoyable. Will definitely consider returning if we’re in the area again.

The architecture reminds me of the culture and history in Monterey. Thank you Annemarie for offering me special access to breakfast since I was checking-out before the usual breakfast hour. She was very helpful, gave specific directions and was quick to respond to messages. The place was as described, sparkling clean and also stylish. If ever back in the area, I’d definitely want to stay in one of her rooms.

  • A nice little home tucked away in Seaside that is a short drive from most anywhere in the area. I was with 3 friends and we comfortably shared the space without feeling cramped. The utilities are quite nice as well. A good place to relax!

Enjoy the beautiful Monterey Bay and nearby attractions - Monterey Bay Aquarium, Fisherman's Wharf, Cannery Row, the scenic 17-Mile Drive, Carmel-by-the-Sea, and Big Sur. Great restaurants and shopping just moments away! Just a 15 minute walk to the beach and bike path. Our Seaside cottage is the perfect home base for your vacation getaway! Our home is well furnished and comfortable for up to 6 guests.
Our place is a single-family house with an attached studio. The studio is occupied, and the tenant can help out in an emergency. The main house has two bedrooms, one full bathroom with washer and dryer, a living room and well-equipped kitchen, internet access, and cable TV. 46" TVs in both the living room and the main bedroom both have built-in Roku devices where you can access your Netflix and other content accounts. Driveway and street parking is available. Guests can eat on the back patio with seating for 6. They can also read a book on the front porch with the Pacific in the distance. There is a really nice little park next door with play equipment for younger folks.
Seaside is a bedroom community that supports the surrounding area. Lots of hispanic influence in the restaurants and markets within walking distance.
  • This is a fantastic place to stay if you are visiting Monterey. With easy access to golf courses and restaurants this fit exactly what we needed. Lots of room in the house as well.

    Zak2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very cute house with all the amenities you would want/need in a home away from home. There is enough parking for tandem parking for two cars. The street is extremely tight and small; and is one way only. There is a small mini park nearby with some street parking which fills up at night. The house is located near a shopping center where you could buy groceries or food. The location of the house is a short drive to Monterey. The house itself has bedding, pillows, blankets, towels, shampoo/conditioner. The bathroom also has washer and dryer with detergent. The kitchen is well stocked. The TV has lots of movie channels and a Netflix account. The house also allows dogs. I would highly recommend this place for the location, price, and overall experience.

    Teresa2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place! The description of the house was accurate and the accommodations were excellent. It was such a welcoming house that by the end of the weekend I did not want to leave. Would love to book again when I come back to Monterey.

    Yaneli2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great value and easy access to Monterey and Carmel. Easy to Uber or Lyft if you prefer not to drive. The house was super clean and the kitchen was well stocked. I appreciated the electric fireplaces in the bedrooms making it a relaxing and comfortable stay.

    Briar2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Kit's place was super clean and cozy! Would definitely recommend to anyone staying here. I would caution against bringing 6 people, unless people feel comfortable sharing queen beds, as there are only 2 rooms with queen beds and a big couch.

    Catheryn2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay in Seaside. Warm and clean! Had everything we needed as well!

  • This is a lovely cottage space with thoughtful touches throughout—and was absolutely spotless! It was a wonderful place to get in a much-needed change of scenery with a friend during shelter-in-place orders. Wifi worked well for continued work and nighttime hot tub dips were so relaxing. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

    Nina2020-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • Super cute place. Some of the neighbors were a bit questionable but we had a great time!

    Nikki2020-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect home away from home for myself, my boyfriend, and our pup :) Everything we might have needed including a coffee bar, hot tub, luxurious bathroom, large Smart TVs in every room, and a fully equipped kitchen was all made available! Anisha was always very quick to respond to any questions we had leading up to our stay. 5-Stars across the board and we'd recommend this place to all without hesitation !

    Adriana2020-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to shelter-in-place. Our current home situation did not enable us to work comfortably with spotty WiFi. So we stayed in this lovely home for many days and it did not disappoint. It was spotless and had all the amenities perfect for two people. The contactless check-in was seamless and WiFi was speedy. The hot tub with an awning was a perfect touch during a rainy week. 10/10 would recommend. The host was communicative and thoughtful in all regards.

Come home and relax after a day of adventure in this immaculate (disinfected after every guest), tastefully decorated room with private bath. Although it is part of my home, it is separated from the rest of the home to allow for privacy. Your room comes equipped with a mini fridge stocked with complementary water, snacks, and coffee. You are welcome to use the microwave in the kitchen. I also have 2 aquarium passes for you to use during your stay. Smoking and partying is not permitted.
Your accommodations include a quiet, private room attached to a full, private bath. Entrance to the home and your room is through the kitchen. There is a dinette set for two that you are welcome to use. But the kitchen is not available for cooking. The bathroom is stocked with fresh towels, linens, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. A hair dryer, iron, ironing board, extra towels and blankets are also available. There are security cameras on the exterior of the house and one in the kitchen, but your room and bathroom are completely private. Don’t hesitate to let me know if you need anything else!
I am lucky enough to have the best neighbors in town! My neighbors are all very nice and friendly and many have lived here for over fifty years! Please respect them and their space in order to make your stay a pleasant one for everyone involved.
  • Great spot to explore all that the Monterey area has to offer! Dina was more than hospitable ensuring and easy check in and following up multiple times to make sure everything was okay. The way the Airbnb is set up it felt like we had our own little wing of the house! Friendly tip: make sure to check out Point Lobos State Park on your stay, it’s natural beauty is stunning!

    Tasha2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of favorite Airbnbs to stay at. Dina is a fantastic hostess. There shower is hot and flows strongly, the bed is super comfortable, fluffy towels and pillows, wonderfully decorated, parking up close, extra touches like food and water in frig, great tips for exploring and eating, and Dina is just an all around great host. We will return again and again

    Linda2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Y’all, Dina is the best! When we arrived she was cooking a massive batch of chicken fried rice for her big lovable puppy! If that doesn’t tell you how lovely of a person she is, you probably don’t have a heart... Anyway, the place is beach themed and super fun. Very private with your own bathroom, felt like having our own place. The parking spot and aquarium passes were really nice, and the bed is SO COMFY. This place is very nice for the price, and it’s about 10-15 minutes into the city. 5/5 place 6/5 host! 100% recommend and would stay again!

    Matthew2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, stylish and comfortable place. Very close to Monterey and Carmel. Highly recommend. Dina was thoughtful and left snacks and strawberries which were a huge plus.

    Rajvi2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Dina was one of the most thoughtful hosts I've ever had! The unit came with fruit and yogurt in the fridge, cereal to eat, and she even left us a bottle of wine as a treat! This is on top of the lovely room, packaged aquarium member passes, and binoculars included with the room! I simply cannot recommend this listing highly enough, I'll be back anytime I'm in the Monterey area!!

    David2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Spacious room and full bath, very private and well-lit space with tons of natural light! Seaside is a sunny haven on the peninsula. Dina's place was ideally situated to wherever we wanted to be for our beach side vacay!

    Heema2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Dina, the hostess with the mostest, made the whole experience such a delight. There were several little touches in the room that made us feel right at home and welcome and felt like the kind of hospitality you can’t find at just any hotel or Airbnb. She was very communicative and made sure we had everything we needed to have a great stay and was very kind. The space itself was cozy, clean, and very comfortable. It’s in a very nice location that isn’t right in the middle of all the activity but is not at all too far away either. There’s convenient parking and the guest passes to the aquarium made this an A+ experience worth the price you pay. Definitely recommend!

    Jana2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Dina is very organized. Her space is very beautifully decorated, comfortable and clean. She is very generous offering an abundance of snacks. Dina was very friendly and cares about you having a good experience. I certainly did.

This cozy studio in seaside incudes all new furnisher and most necessary amenities. There is a beautiful front yard with a waterfall/ pond and fire pit area. The studio has a gas fireplace and lots of skylights for plenty of light. Nice ocean views PS: There is a long steep set of stairs up to the studio, so if you have a problem climbing stairs, the one bedroom below maybe a better choice for you.
There is a small Market & Deli just across the street. The studio includes street parking only. Hope to see you soon. This studio is perfect for 2 people but will fit 4 no problem. (4 Max) There is a murphy's bed and a sleeper queen couch.
The studio is located in the middle of seaside. There are nice ocean views of Monterey and Pacific Grove and the area is pretty quiet. I think you will love the beautiful front yard to hang out and the quick excess to Monterey, Carmel, Pebble Beach, and Pacific Grove. The beach is about 5 to 10 minutes away, 15 min to Monterey and 20 min to Carmel. Easy access to Golf, Laguna Seca, shopping and the beach. We have a market across the street if you need anything in the last min. If you like to take a nice drive down the coast, Big Sur is the way to go.
  • Well equipped kitchen. Quiet, clean and comfortable. Nice extra touches like flowers and a bottle of wine in the refrigerator.

We offer a private home with private bath, kitchen and beautifully tiled flagstone front yard littered with comfortable seating. Keypad entry check-in. 5 minutes from the beach. Free access to Pebble Beach just for the asking. Tour 17 Mile drive. 10 Minutes from Laguna Seca race way and 10minutes to Pebble Beach, Carmel, Cannery Row and the Aquarium. Not to mention the Big Sur drive you should do before you leave. Also Wifi, CableTv, Gourmet kitchen and an amazingly comfortable queen sized bed.
We left some snacks out, water and eggs in the fridge. There's tea and 3 types of coffee. Have at it. We are pet friendly, bring your furry family with you. Bring your own pet bed and we supply the bowls and treats. We just ask that the pets dont sleep on the comforter and you pick up after him or her ; ) The other house on the property is under construction so pardon our dust and noise. We will be working from 9 am to 6pm most weekdays. The distance apart is enough that you wont be bothered by us. Our cabana covered hot tub is up and running and is awesome. Please no parties. We just remodeled the entire place and would like to keep it beautiful. Two adults with two kids is the most we'd like to have. Extra guests are welcome of course, just not for overnight stay.
If you hike, bike or skateboard the beach is 15 minutes on foot and is miles long. There's tons of restaurants and coffee shops on the main strip two blocks away and all the gourmet restraunts you can shake a stick at 10 minutes by car.
  • What an incredible experience. Sharif was extremely communicative and understanding on every level. Flexible, easy to speak with and overall a generous and amazing person. Again, cannot thank you enough for everything! 🙏 your heart and kindness speaks loudly! Look forward to seeing you and the beautiful Casita very soon!

    Francesca2020-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • The only bummer about this location, is that we didn’t have longer to stay here! Fridge stocked full of food, beautiful town, and beaches close by. Sharif was super friendly and helpful. The bed was really comfortable, the space itself was very stylish and thoughtful. The yard and hot tub were absolutely the highlight. Really great escape for the weekend. Thank you again!

    Beau2020-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Wow - my friend and I were looking for a last-minute getaway and stumbled upon this listing. The description definitely sold us but did not do justice to exactly how charming and relaxing the casita actually was. The location is right next to a shopping complex with everything someone could need and the house itself is nestled inside the property with its own private patio and jacuzzi 😱. The interior was immaculate and it was obvious how much attention was paid to the decoration, appliances, fixtures and amenities. The amenities! Welcome to the best minibar you’ll ever meet (except this one is free). The shower and bathroom was modern and luxurious. We cooked a couple of meals during our stay and found every utensil and sundry we needed. I’m going to miss the bed a lot; it was like sleeping on a cloud with bedding that felt like your favorite blanket. There were also thoughtful touches everywhere like mini chocolates, fresh flowers, beautifully folded towels and even a toilet paper roll folded at the end like a hotel stay. Sharif was communicative and helpful before our arrival and provided every instruction you would need as part of the check-in experience. I can definitely say this unassuming place turned out to be one of the best Airbnbs I’ve ever stayed in. If you’re looking for a quiet refuge to just kick back, relax and forget about the world, this is the place to be and you’ll be in Sharif’s good hands. Thanks so much!

  • Wonderful spot, great location and a fantastic host! All of the descriptions are exactly as mentioned.. and the ice cream in the freezer.. it's real!!! Cant say enough great things about Sharif as a host and the Casita itself.. absolutely wonderful. Great details and touches have been added to the space and had everything we needed from utensils to spices it has it all! A quick heads up.. the gem is behind the house that is in front. The front house is in the process of a beautification process. We were not disturbed during our stay what so ever and look forward to seeing the finished product when it is complete. Thanks again Sharif!

The great thing about the Monterey peninsula is that everything is within 10 miles. You can bike along the coast, visit the aquarium, kayak, or go hiking, all in close proximity. That being said, you should have a car while staying here. Our residential neighborhood is close-knit with several young families living on our block. There are three nice public parks within a five-minute walk. Also in walking distance is the local favorite deli, Mal's, and the acclaimed bakery and cafe, Paris Bakery. A short drive away is the Sand City area featuring a locals craft beer joint (Post No Bills), bakery (Sweet Elena's), and Sanctuary rock climbing gym. Local dining options include authentic Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, and Mexican. We are happy to make recommendations.
  • We loved staying at this cute and practical house! The front yard was an amazing play area: even during uncertain times while the entire state was under Shelter-in-Place orders, we were able to play outside safely every single day. It was a relief to be able to close the gates and know that the kids were playing in a protected area. The neighborhood was also great for exploring and looking for cats and dogs and smelling flowers, even when we couldn't enjoy the nearby playgrounds or social spaces. This house had more than its fair share of amenities, and we loved having the books and toys available for the kids. I do recommend that future travelers do not count on using the sofa bed for adults to sleep. I found it much too lumpy and uncomfortable for sleeping, though it was just fine for sitting on during the day. The main living area is a little bit dark, but we spent enough time outside that it didn't really matter to us. We would definitely recommend staying at this house for any small family. If we get the chance to return to Monterey in the future, I hope to stay there again!

  • Great place for a small family! Our kids loved it so much they didn’t want to leave. And it is steps from a great park. The house was clean and comfortable. And full of toys for the kids to play with. And the front yard is gated, so the kids could play outside.

  • This is a great place to stay if you’re traveling with kids. There is LITERALLY everything you need for a toddler, which made packing for our trip much easier. Molly and Kelley have their place stocked with the basics and it really felt like home away from home. It was close to everything in Monterey. I’d highly recommend staying here!

  • Great option for families with children. There is everything you need and even more, a nursery with toys and books, a small play area on the street. Parking space. Comfortable beds and silence. The heating in the house is excellent, it was not cold at all. The owners of the house gave a lot of good recommendations for visiting and delicious food. If we are in Monterey again, we will definitely stop again.

Brand new house that’s a 10 minute walk from the ocean. We’re walking distance to many stores and restaurants. After a long day of sight-seeing or beach bumming, come home and enjoy the spa in fenced-in back yard. Make yourself at home by firing up the grill and making something to go with a local bottle of Sunny California wine! For parking, you can park in the driveway or anywhere on the street you find a spot.
You can use the entire house except the master bedroom’s closet and washer, drier.
  • Navid’s house was modestly sized but overall comfortable. The kitchen was well-stocked and we found everything we needed. The neighborhood was reasonably quiet; at no point during our stay were we woken up by outside noise. We especially valued the proximity to Monterey and Carmel as we spent most of our time there. If you’re planning on staying with a small child, note that of the two bedrooms, only the master can fit a travel crib or pack n’ play. As such, we slept in the guest room and although we managed, the full bed in the guest room was definitely less spacious than the queen in the master. Apart from that, we didn’t have any issues staying with our two year old.

  • Super comfy and quite a homey stay. Navid messaged me that the home was ready for us earlier than posted because we are coming from North Cali and needed some rest before sight seeing. House was super nicely decored and just felt like home. Definitely let Navid know if able to check in a bit earlier!!

  • Had a great stay at Navid’s place during a road trip up the California coast. Convenient location, place is as described, quick communications, and hot tub was a great bonus.

  • Navid's place was the perfect getaway for a weekend in Monterey! It was conveniently located to all the main spots, a close walk to the beach to watch the sunset, and felt like a home away from home in terms of amenities. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Let your imagination soar as you holler "Open sesame!" to the sliding wall-door of our living room and enter the mid-century study of the heroic Belgian reporter known as Tintin! A luxurious couch-surfing experience with privacy and ocean views! This room is available only from 5pm until 9am as it's used as an office during the day. It is quiet at night, but in the evening and morning it can be noisy as it is surrounded by our living area. Perfect for people just passing through overnight!
This is a semi-private room with a sliding wall-door that opens onto our living room. The double sofa-bed is a very comfortable. There is a large window with a view of the ocean. The bathroom is down the hall and is shared. We have several other rooms available in the house, please click on my profile to see more.
High up on the hill in Seaside, CA, our house is located in a peaceful neighborhood, with an amazing view. We are VERY close to Laguna Seca and the Monterey County Fairgrounds and just a little outside of the main touristic area, a short distance from the attractions of Monterey, Carmel & Pacific Grove. We are one of the last small cities on the way South to Big Sur. It is worth noting that the weather here is moderate all year long. It is not the "Sunny California" that you hear about, there is normally a bit of a chill. Our beaches are not the best for sunbathing and only the intrepid enter the water. Just around the corner from our home is a playground for kids. Seaside itself is not much of an attraction, but it has a number of nice restaurants and tends to be more reasonably priced than neighboring cities.
  • Design was so amazing it reminded me of my childhood and I am a huge fan of Tintin. John and Noelle were really nice.

  • Clean, tidy, cozy, and quiet. This place is exactly what we were looking for on our trip down the coast. John and Noelle were very welcoming and the ocean view was a nice touch! Would stay here again.

  • What a wonderful space. I loved the Tin Tin theme of the room, and the view in living room that it opens up to is gorgeous. Great hosts in a great location! Perfect way to enjoy Monterey.

  • A good and convenient place to crash for a night, especially considering the price. Went there for a Laguna Seca race and it was perfect for me

    Alex2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Had very cozy one night stay, i hope i’ll have my hosts as my guests in Finland!

    Hanna2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Noelle and John were wonderful, accommodating hosts. They clearly laid out guest expectations and also were responsive in communicating with me in advance of my stay. The unique touches in each room were unlike anything I've seen in any other AirBnB host's home; a wonderful experience overall and I would definitely stay again!
