Three log cabins (Sleep 2 in each) TV in both. Wc / Washroom. One outdoor shower and a outdoor bath. Log burning Finnish Sauna. Treehouse sleps two persons. We also an out door bbq dining area.Magnificent views over the hills and down to the river. Only 1 mile from the famous Lake Vyrnwy and Dam.
  • If you like a quirky place to stay then you will love this. A series of wooden cabins and tree house, it is certainly not a conventional holiday let. But we loved it and will definitely come back again. Be aware this is a little like a mixture of normal b&b and camping. Stuart is a very friendly and helpful host and communication was very easy. A highlight for us was the bath with an unhindered view of the river (ie no wall or window....it just looks out over the river.) You may think this might be a bit drafty, but we loved it after our swim in the river on a wet day in March. The shower also does not have a roof, and there is a second bath that is completely outdoors. Fantastic!! Lots of hot water too. Shame we didnt find time for the sauna. The main bedroom cabins were warm and cosy and we had a comfortable nights sleep listening to the rain and the river. If you're looking for a holiday home with a difference, then this is the place for you. 😊

  • Great little place, pretty simple stay

  • The perfect way to get back to nature, no phones, just beautiful Welsh countryside.

  • Wonderful ... complete retreat away from everything ... you can’t help relax. Red hot outdoor bath was superb ... the log cabin was super cosy with an excellent nostalgic selection of VHS. Stuart gave us a lift to the dam due to weather conditions with excellent advice on the return walk home ... great hospitality and a must to ‘get away from it all’.

  • My partner and I drove for 6 hours to reach Stuarts place for a one night stay, but it was worth every minute of the drive. Following Stuarts direction to the property made finding the accomodation a breeze. We were warmly welcomed with a glass of Pinot, pleasant conversation, followed by a tour of the grounds. We unfortunately arrived during storm Dennis, so as expected the pathways were very muddy and slippery, but this did not spoil our experience, the cabins have stunning views of the river that runs through Stuarts land, it has to be seen to be believed. We stayed in the main cabin, it is far from a shed but a properly built log cabin that kept us dry and warm! The whole place is very cute and cosy. The kitchen was well supplied with plates and cooking accessories and the bedroom has a small TV with a big choice of VHS to choose from Bathing outside in the storm is an experience I will never forget, and bathing in the skypod in the morning with the river running directly in front of you is simply amazing. Stuarts house is closer than it appears in photos, however it is downhill of the cabins offering privacy. When we checked out we were kindly offered a cup of tea which we turned down as we had a long drive ahead, however Stuart made a point of insisting we visit the Lake and Dam, and we are thrilled he did so, as this was simply stunning. We can't wait to experience Stuarts property again in the warmer and dryer weather!.

  • Had a brilliant time away at Stuarts place! Definitely recommend this to my friends and family, beautiful place with the most beautiful surroundings, would come back again in a heart beat! Great time, and super host!

  • Stuart's cabins were a perfect rustic place to get away from the city. He was a great host, making a fire for us and providing excellent local tips! It was nice to have a taste of outdoors on our visit to Whales.

  • Stuart is a very attentive, friendly and helpful host. The place is set in a beautiful location. The cabins are warm and comfortable. The outdoor bath was an amazing experience. It is a wonderful place for those who love outdoor living, perfect balance between rustic and comfortable. Highly recommend. Thank you!

1 bed self contained cottage set in rural mid Wales. Large hot tub available to use at an additional cost of £20 per day for your own use..... please let us know prior to arrival if you would like the tub, as we have to balance chemicals and get it up to temperature ready for you. Full kitchen with everything you could possibly need... pots, pans, steamer, slow cooker etc,sky TV, log burner and central heating. We have beautiful views, some lovely walks and a haven of wildlife on our doorstep.
Hot tub can be booked for your sole use (£20 per night).... payable on arrival please. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate guests in the hot tub that have any kind of fake tan applied, it turns the water orange!!!!! Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause but we need to keep our facilities clean for other guests. Please be aware that we are in a valley and internet can be hit and miss, if you are looking to be on line for a lot of the time.... this may not the place for you. Mobile signal is really a no go, we are happy for you to use our land line to make any calls. As we are in the country, as hard as we try, you may spot the odd cobweb in the beams and a little dust.... all part of the character and country experience:-)
Very quiet area. No bus service. Lovely views.
  • Thank you for making our stay everything we hoped for and needed. Everything was lovely down to the little touches like having the candles lit for our arrival. Communication was fantastic and the welcome we received made us feel right at home and comfortable to ask any questions about the area! Plenty of dvds in the drawer and board games for us, and the hot tub was AMAZING.

    Kim2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and partner thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hosts were so welcoming and nothing was ever too much trouble. The house itself was so clean and warm. When we arrived the hot tub was warm, the heating was on, candles lit and it felt so homely! We had so much information about the local area and the amenities were fantastic. We will definitely be booking again soon! Thank you so much both! Xx

  • Had a lovely few days here for my partners birthday. We were given plenty of information before hand regarding directions and then greeted by the host on arrival who was very welcoming and friendly. Thankyou, we loved our stay

  • Stayed at this beautiful lodge for a weekend to celebrate my partners birthday. Absolutely perfect if wanting to take a step back from day to day life and enjoy a countryside break. The hosts were so helpful from the get go and happy to answer any questions. We were greeted on arrival and Hadyn brought the humour, had us laughing and feeling right at ease from the start. Showed us around and reassured us that we could approach them at any point during our stay. The lodge was warm and they had a candle lit when we arrived so it instantly just felt so cosy. The hot tub was just as described and had been pre heated for when we got there. Everything you need is provided so we didn’t find ourselves worrying at any point. Huge thank you to Jude and Hadyn, would highly recommend!x

  • What a beautiful little escape from the real world! Cosy, quaint and well equipped for a cosy weekend in or the perfect base to see some of the beautiful Snowdonia National Park and other surrounding areas. Couldn't recommend the Waggon and Horses in Newtown enough for a delicious dinner and had the most relaxing evening in the hot tub with a bottle of wine and to completely detach from emails/work/etc. Thank you Jude and Hadyn xx

    Shannon2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Jude's cottage is lovely, homely, clean and has all the amenities you could need. Parking is great. The host offers a warm welcome and was always easy to contact before the visit. Perfect retreat for couples.

Xidong is a cottage converted from an old stone and timber cowshed with a Japanese theme. It sleeps two people and has a hot-tub in the enclosed garden, which is available to use all the year round. More information and details of the cottage can be found on our website.
The cottage is spacious and serene with an oriental flavour. The kitchen is well appointed and there is an amazing and unusual wet room. Pets are welcome and are charged £20 extra per animal.
The cottage is situated in a very quiet and tranquil area of South Shropshire. The scenery is stunning; there are interesting places to visit from castles to gardens, woods and forts. There are plenty of excellent restaurants being near to the old historical food centre of Britain - Ludlow. You can walk for miles on well signposted footpaths and cycle either on the quiet lanes or mountain biking in the local forestry.
  • My partner and I had a fantastic weekend away with our little dog I think he loved it just as much as we did! The Xidong cottage was the perfect little weekend getaway if you’re looking for peace and quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Also they left us fresh milk, eggs and freshly baked sourdough bread which was such a lovely touch! Plenty of amenities in the cottage including tea, coffee and sugar! I would highly recommend staying here even better that you can bring your dogs too! Thank you for a lovely weekend we will definitely be returning again soon!

  • I would highly recommend this beautiful place to anyone looking for piece and quiet.

    Damon2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place for a relaxing break. Really appreciated the homemade goodies and underfloor heating. Couldn't have asked for a nicer week with great weather and scenery. Thank you very much

    Abbie2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for the perfect escapism. The cottage was perfect for two and very cosy with the log fire and heating flooring for us and the dog. We would definitely return for another trip and recommend it to friends.

    Sadia2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Xidong is a beautiful and stylish little cottage. Great for this time of year with the fire place and hot tub! Becky was a fantastic host, she provided us with fresh eggs/milk/bread and even picked us up from the train station! We spent most of our time exploring the country side and ending up walking for miles! Highly recommended to everyone!

    Alexandra2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very relaxing stay at this querky barn conversion, very clean inside and out. The hot tub was fantastic and the dog loved the underfloor heating. There are some nice walks in the area if you are into that.

    Adi2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place! The cottage is a lot larger than it appears on the photos and the surroundings are beautiful! Hot tub was an added bonus! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

    Amy2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is the perfect little place if you’re looking to relax and escape for a short break. They’ve utilised the space so well and the underfloor heating meant we were toasty during our December stay. The garden is absolutely glorious and must be a real sight in warmer weather! Becky was the perfect host, respecting our privacy despite being so close by, with a lot of attention to detail, leaving bath robes for the hot tub and butter, milk and eggs on arrival. A home away from home!

My place is close to RHAYADER and THE ELAN VALLEY also adjoining THE GILFACH NATURE RESERVE. You’ll love my place because of the coziness, the peacefulness of been able to have the freedom to walk and explore our hills of mid wales, straight from your door..and only 45 mins to visit the seaside of Aberystwth.. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), big groups, and furry friends (pets).
..PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU REQUIRE THE HOT TUB in advance of booking your (URL HIDDEN) due to the high demand on the hot tubs, i would need to make sure there is one available for you... so i must know prior to you booking ..and you can pay when you are with us £50 for your entire stay with us The Hide Away Ranch is a unique and very fortunate place, it is situated in 400 acres of magnificent views overlooking the wye valley, it has been stated its like been on "top of the world" it rises up to 1400 ft on the tops, with amazing views, walks and rides, ideal for star gazing in the evenings and watching the sun setting over the rolling hills, while the wildlife is active all around you. You can ramble around the hills at your leisure finding all the sources of the lovely little steams which trickle down through our countryside., where many moons ago the pilgrims would walk to the source of these lovely crystal streams, to collect the so said" holy water" in the pilgrims ampullae. We have been very lucky in finding one ..Then to take the water back to heel sick people from their ailments. We are also neighbouring our local nature reserve, which has got nature trials and all the information about our native wildlife in our area, they also do childrens activities if you log on to the Gilfach Nature Reserve. You are welcome to bring your own mountain bikes, motor bikes, off road vehicles where you can go and enjoy the stunning views at your own leisure, or if you just want to chill, and sit out on the veranda with your glass of wine!! to watch the magnificent birds and wildlife go about their very busy lives. you are now, also able to hire a hot tub if you so desired at an extra cost from a little company in our local market town, they come out the day before you arrive set it all up for you to jump in on your arrival ..Please note.... the hideaway ranch is situated in the beautiful, countryside, there is no wi fi and you may find your phone signals are limited in areas, but the best of it is that you only need to go 10 mins down the road and you are back into (URL HIDDEN) you have the best of both worlds.. If you find that the dates you require for your break, have already gone The Hideaway Ranch does have two further sister properties " Hide Away House" Rhayader which has installed .. A Red Cedar Wood Far Infared Saunas well as its own log burner and hottub.. it sleeps up to 8 people.. and also The Hide Away Sunrise Sunset yurt which is also with Airbnb and is situated in the same 400 acre Estate..with its own log burner and hottub
Rhayader is a little market town in MID wales ,we think is an unfound area, we have the stunning Elan Valley Dams on our doorstep , where you can go pony treking, mountain biking, walking, fishing, canoeing off roading nature trials and activities for the children to learn about the countrysides of mid wales .. watch the red kites feeding without the hustle and bustle of too many people.. It is a must place to visit, with the little quaint 1600 c country inns, for those lovely Welsh Black Steaks and welsh lamb cutlets locally sourced with a pint of the real welsh ales xx
  • This place is amazing :) lovely view,nature,animal..like a dream .Wales is beautifull!we really enjoyed staying at the hide away ranch and looking forward to visit again :)) we had everythink we need and the hot tub was lovely us well even if the weather is not the best ,we always chilled in :D I can this place just recommend ! :))

    Martina2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing little find just outside of the picturesque town of Rhayader and the Elan valley, amazing place and very peaceful and and ideal for a break.

  • Suzie’s place was fab. Wake up to an amazing view, walk your (& the dog’s) legs off and then relax in the hot tub without having to touch the car! For those wanting to go a little further we found the Elan Valley beautiful and full of great walks. Suzie was on hand with some great tips for what to do & ensuring we were perfectly happy throughout. Can’t recommend highly enough for a rural getaway! We’d definitely come back,

  • Suzanne is such a lovely host! Beautiful place and surroundings. Helped us out, being in on the surprise birthday! Thanks so much x

    Emmie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • It was my second stay at Suzies place, and it was just as good, if not better than last time. The views as always were outstanding, even with the random weather conditions. The layout of the ranch had changed since last time, but worked well. No Wi-Fi, but Vodafones network was strong. Three's network was completely useless, couldn't even get a text through. Would 100% recommend to anyone else!

    Joseph2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful, beautiful surroundings. A real chance to get away from it all. X

    Ruth2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly had the most gorgeous stay here, myself and my friends (and our dogs!) adored our time at the hideaway and we all feel the host went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. The stunning views were indescribable and we had some great walks. Our days were made even better by being able to kick back and relax in the lovely big hot tub which was super easy to work. The place felt so cosy, with an abundance of little touches that made us feel so at home. Thank you so much Suzanne, we could not recommend you more!

    Talia2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place to stay. I rented the Ranch for a surprise trip for my boyfriends birthday. I highly suggest hiring the hot tub too because it was such a great touch! The drive up to the ranch through the lane was a little hairy in my Mini (full car), but it made it! So just have a little faith and rev that engine. That said - we did choose to come when Storm Dennis was 'a raging so that added to the atmosphere too! Suzanne is such a great host, came to show us around and provided advise on spots to visit. You'll need a car to go into the villages but there are 400 acres to walk from the Ranch so you have plenty of AMAZING and I truly mean incredible views. Take a camera or a flask of tea and just bask in the beauty that you are surrounded by. You won't be disappointed. My only note of warning - if it rains, bring some games with you if you don't want to go outside in the wet. TV is not a selling point. But do not let that stop you from booking an adventure here! Highly recommend!

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole and that means comfort.
Thank you so much to everyone that has stayed and left such lovely reviews. Yes it's a small space but everyone seems to have enjoyed staying. We've certainly enjoyed it ourselves a couple of times (well we had to test it didn't we!) Nowhere else can you stay with a view like this from your comfortable bed! We are only 15 minutes from Hay on Wye and the perfect place to stay during the Hay festival. The Hobbit House has a wood-fired cooker so that you can cook your own meals and there is running water just outside. A large sofabed folds out to a full-sized double bed with a deep comfortable mattress. All bedding etc provided. Dinner and breakfast can be provided at extra cost - how about a nice hearty stew in a slow-cooker ready for you to arrive, with fresh bread warming in the Hobbit House's wood-fired oven? We have a number of great walks starting from the doorstep and a rural pub over the road. (please note that the pub is generally only open at weekends) PLEASE NOTE: 95% of people have loved staying here, but it isn't to everyone's tastes. it IS small. it does have a sofa bed rather than a proper bed. The bathroom is down in our house and although it is for your exclusive use, it is a 30 second walk away. This is glamping, not luxury. But if that suits you then you'll have an amazing time.
A Hobbit House in the middle of the beautiful Brecon Beacons. I think that's pretty unique don't you?!
  • Lovely break away. Really peaceful location. Cute space to stay in and lots of information given.

    Shona2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 2 nights in the hobbit house and it was fantastic! Tin supplier fire wood which was amazing as it was freezing cold!!! Any young couples looking for a quirky weekend away and like having adventures this is the place for you.

    Jason2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The hobbit house really is small, but it's also gorgeous. We were very cosy once the fire was going and had everything we needed. We cooked all our meals on the wood-fired stove which is a wonderful way to cook! We cheated and used our camping stove for coffee in the morning when we weren't patient enough for the fire to get going. The location is superb, with beautiful views and excellent walks right on the doorstep: we didn't quite make it up Waun Fach due to high winds but had a wonderful walk nonetheless culminating in a delicious pint in the Dragon's Back pub. And there are loads of fantastic walks within a short driving distance. Talgarth is just a short drive away for getting in some supplies, and there is a short but beautiful walk with impressive waterfalls right next to the town. The whole area was pretty muddy when we were there so be prepared if it's been raining!

    Lindsay2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a fun place to stay, one of a kind! We loved spending the night in your Hobbit House, especially our 3 year old who had a blast! She especially loved Bear and helping keep an eye on the fire. It was a great addition to our adventures in Wales, just walking up to it was exciting with our tour guide, Bear the dog! The milk and chocolate was a lovely surprise too, thank you very much for a unique place to rest our heads.

    Darren2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay. Tin is very informative and quick to respond. Thank you for a great stay

    Mark2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, truly magical. The surrounding areas are fabulous and Bear is a super extra host! The place was super clean, the fire was fab and the brochures were really helpful. Would definitely recommend a local pub called the Farmers Arms for some reasonably priced but amazing food :) 10/10 will stay again!

    Charlotte2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • I sent my brother and his wife to the hobbit hole as a present!! They absolutely loved it.

  • My boyfriend and I went to stay for a romantic getaway to celebrate his birthday. The pods were simply gorgeous, even better than they look in the picture. Elaine greeted us and we were made to feel so welcome. Everything was spotlessly clean, could not fault this hideaway it was perfect. Had our own private hot tub and the owners had even left a bottle of wine for us to celebrate which was a lovely touch. After a great nights sleep in a really comfy bed we had a fantastic breakfast hamper delivered. Warm croissants, jam, tea, milk, orange juice.....fantastic start to the day. Could not recommend this place enough, thank you for a wonderful stay and we will definitely be coming back ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The extra touches were so lovely breakfast basket hand delivered in the morning with hot crossiants, and fresh milk and juice in fridge for you on arrival. Both really lovely hosts. Hot tub is amazing and the views spectacular. We're so lucky to live in such a beautiful area. Can't wait to come back and stay many thanks Tina

  • We wish we could stay longer! The pod is immaculate, super clean and cosy. The location is blissfully quiet. The host went above and beyond with the bottle of wine and breakfast hamper. 100% recommend staying here, and no doubt will be staying again in the future ❤️

  • The pod was amazing, so clean and stylish and just the right size for myself and my boyfriend (and our dog). Jon and Elaine were very helpful and friendly, they answered any questions (both prior to and during our trip) quickly and had excellent local knowledge about where to visit and eat. We loved that their was a fire bowl to use so in the evenings we could lit the fire and get in the hot tub and just relax. My friends have seen photos I've posted online and have asked where it is and how to book, so they're impressed too! Thank you for a great weekend away!

  • Absolutely beautiful location, myself and my boyfriend felt so relaxed after our stay. The cabins are so well looked after Haf should be very proud. I would totally recommend.

    Molly2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • The pods are super cosy and really cute, a perfect getaway for couples. Haf is a great host and the hot tub was already warmed up for us by the time we arrived. Make sure you go prepared as it's a few miles to any shops. The kitchen is really well equipped and the bed is super comfy so it really is like a home away from home. Can't wait to come back here again!

    Janine2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay with lovely hosts. Would highly recommend these pods as a break to anyone, we had a great stay!

    Lauren2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Haf’s for three nights and we loved every second. Haf had the place all clean and lovely homey touches. We did go in winter but still made some use of the hot tub. It was the best place to go and get away from everything. Bring plenty of food and you will be fine to bunker away in the cold weather. We will most definitely be back to see how beautiful it is in the summer.

    Chloe2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great little pod, we went for the optional hot tub which was well worth it. The pod is a nice cosy little space that was great for 2 and our small dog, we only stayed for 1 night. Host was excellent and met us at the entrance for a quick show around and then we were left to enjoy. Thanks.

  • Haf’s Rainbow Pods are the perfect getaway. Haf is a brilliant and accommodating host and we had everything we needed/wanted. The pods themselves are lovely, cosy and extremely well built. The hot tub was amazing and even in December weather we had a really chilled night and morning enjoying the view of the welsh countryside. Would totally recommend. Great location 30 mins from lake Vernwy which is a great walking/sightseeing spot. Thanks Haf!

  • A perfect stay! Can't recommend enough, so peaceful and the perfect location. Haf was very welcoming and couldnt do enough for us. We will definitely be back :-) thanks Haf!

  • On the day of arrival Haf text me directions and upon arrival we were greeted by Haf with a lovely warm welcome. Haf took us around to the pod and showed us how everything worked. She also brought around some more logs for us for the hot tub and fire. Haf had already set up the hot tub for us which was very lovely and nice and warm for us to jump straight into. Everything about the place was very relaxing from the scenery to the fairy lights near the hot tub. The pod itself is absolutely beautiful and extremely clean. It was a last minute booking for my partners 30th birthday he enjoyed it so much, we will be back very shortly and have already told lots of family and friends about the place.

My Mountain View glamping pod is situated overlooking the Black Mountains at the Southern tip of the Brecon Beacons National Park, offering the best glamping experience and a true opportunity to experience nature in luxury. Located on a working hill farm guests can find excellent way-marked walks that start right from the door. The outdoor heated hot tub overlooks the mountains and is perfect for either a romantic break or just a well needed escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Set between the trees inside the pod you will find a self contained kitchen, shower room, dining area and a comfy double bed along with satellite TV & DVD player. The pod has underfloor heating, a microwave, fridge and all basic requirements including a fire pit and gazebo covered BBQ. Traditional charm and a warm Welsh welcome guaranteed...this is truly glamping at its best!! PLEASE NOTE: The hot tub has recently been upgraded to a fully heated electric one with jets and lights! We feel this is much more relaxing for our guests as they don’t have to tend the fire...so jump straight in and enjoy!!

  • Absolutely amazing. Took my partner away for his birthday and we both loved it. Gorgeous location, very private, really helpful (but not at all intrusive) hosts who gave us great tips of where to go for nice meals and the sights to see, hot tub was glorious even in the rain, all round great trip! Thank you!

  • Lovely location if you're into your walking! But also a brilliant place to just chill for a few days, especially with the hot tub. Friendly and informative host. The Glamping Pod was probably the best equipped my partner and I have stayed in, lovely space. Great touch having some prosecco and breakfast items too!

  • A lovely place to stay if you want some quiet away from the busy towns. The accommodation was really lovely, lovely hosts. In the town everyone is really nice helpful. We enjoyed really much our stay there. Definitely will be going back 😊

  • What a wonderful place! Enjoyed everything there is about this perfect little retreat. Kieran and his mum were so welcoming and friendly, giving you everything you could ask for & also hints and tips for things to do and places to eat. The place itself is gorgeous, homey and an absolute delight to stay in!! Words do not do this place justice!! We would be back to stay again in a heartbeat.

    Emily2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Nothing bad to say about this place. From the bottle of prosecco left on the table to the hot tub that was waiting for us to jump in even though we were late (close to 10pm), every box was ticked . The storm made our stay even more adventurous as the strong winds felt like they would take the little pod flying. The mattress was extra soft and that's where my back felt neglected, but this is a personal preference and I don't expect to have it catered everywhere i go. Who enjoys sleeping on a cloud will definitely be happy here. The tub never went under 35°c event after we sat in it during the cold rain for more then 45 minutes. Don't let the bad wether scare you ( we went during a storm) and we were still able to explore the area as google maps will guide you to good parking sports to visit the waterfalls in the area. Kieran, thanks again for everything. We had a chance to meet someone on our way out as we was gone for most of the day. Lovely to meet her and good luck with this little slice of heaven!

The Otters Holt Cottage is an outstandingly charming, hand crafted oak frame, nestled in 3 acres of secluded Welsh woodland and meadow. Where you will find an abundance of nature on your doorstep. The cottage is completely off grid, with solar power and natural springs. Inside there is a woodfired stove to cosy up to. An undercover woodfired hot tub and outdoor pizza oven. Just 1 mile outside of Brecon town, it is easy to access with private parking and the Brecon Beacons right on the doorstep.
Our Cottage was made from the local Oak which we hauled from the forest with a team of heavy horses. Alan and his team then framed the timbers using traditional hand tools and techniques. The kitchen includes a gas oven and hob, a small fridge, and all the pots, pans crockery etc that you are likely to need. The bathroom has a hot shower, WC and Morrocan hand basin. The Bedroom has a handmade King size bed, carved out of Welsh Oak, desk space and record player. There are 2 sets of shutters for the bedroom doors so you can choose to snug up or use the glazed morrocan doors to get filterd light or open them up to look directly into the woods. After a hot tub and a wood fired pizza cuddle up to a roaring wood fire with an old time song on the record player and the sound of rain on a tin roof. Heaven!
Brecon is a easy town to navigate it has plenty of shops / pubs /resturants and coffee houses. It has a lovely Cathedral, River front promenade, Theatre by the canal, Cinema and sports centre. The whole area is ideal for outdoor activities. Mountain walks, rock climbing, waterfalls, showcaves, canoe trips and cycling. Just down the road from Brecon you have Llangorse lake for sailing and paddle boats as well as an indoor climbing centre! 20 mins from Brecon is Hay on Wye (The town of books) located under the black mountains this is a very attractve bohemian town well worth exploring.
  • What a find, exceed my expectations in every way. The hut, the hot tub and the space and the isolation just fantastic. I loved everything about this space and will most definitely be back. My dog enjoyed running around in the woods and checking the river out. Thank you Alan and Mary x

  • This is a lovely cabin, a real gem in a fantastic location. Very private yet only a mile into town. So many lovely little touches throughout the cabin and the bedroom and bathroom have a beautiful Moroccan influence. We felt at home straight away and enjoyed a relaxing stay in comfort and style. We enjoyed a soak in the hot tub after our days walking in the Black Mountains & river walks which are just a short drive away. Open the bedroom shutters and let the wildlife entertain you! Woodpeckers, cheeky squirrels, birds galore all visit the bird feeders. Every pot, pan and utensil you’ll need is all magically in the small but perfect kitchen. A return visit? Yes please and we’ll be recommending this one to friends and family.

  • Wow. If you’re reading this review when considering whether to book this place or not... just book it. One of the true gems of Air BnB. Alan and Mary have something great going here. Amazing place, great location and just what you need for a long weekened/ week away to relax and recharge.

  • We had such a wonderful stay at the Otter's Holt. The cabin is a beautiful hide away in a gorgeous setting with everything you need to escape and relax. Alan gave us a very warm welcome upon our arrival and explained everything we needed to know, Including how he built the cottage which was really interesting. Facilties were fantastic with thoughtful touches. Can't recommend enough!! Thanks for an amazing stay :)

  • Alan's place is a real work of art. The craftsmanship and attention to detail combined with a beautiful location and warm and friendly welcome make it a very special place. Off grid but we both left feeling fully recharged. We were really grateful for the extra special touches for the birthday girl. Thanks Alan. We can't wait to come back again!

  • An amazing stay, so much love and time has gone into making this place a truly lovely place to be. A cosy wood burning fire, hot tub and pizza oven were fantastic and the hosts went out of their way to make us feel welcome, giving us tips on places to visit and how to use everything. Fantastic stay, would definitely recommend!

    Natalie2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing find - great, unique place which feels private and secluded yet is only a short journey to Brecon and the wider area. The space is amazing - every little detail is so interesting and the hand carved / handmade elements are really beautiful. So much thought has gone into the building and it’s surrounds. We thoroughly enjoyed the wood fired hottub while the snow/rain/hail was falling outside, and even managed to make some pizzas in the pizza oven. The inside space is cosy and warm and we loved the fact it’s all solar energy, or wood fired. Lots of utensils, essentials etc already provided in the kitchen and even records and games left for use. Unfortunately due to weather we didn’t get out and about much (managed a few beers and a curry in Brecon which was delish!) however the space is perfect for hiding away in the storm and just relaxing. Couldn’t have asked for a better weekend in a storm! Would highly recommend.

Waun Yscir is perfectly situated in the tranquil Yscir valley, just a 15 minute drive from the pretty market town of Brecon. Waun Yscir was lovingly converted in 2009 to a very high standard. Located on our family farm, away from the hustle and bustle, it’s the ideal place to ‘get away from it all’. You can enjoy panoramic views of the countryside whilst relaxing in the hot tub and enjoy your time admiring the stars in our clear skies. There's no better place to be in the world than here.
Waun Yscir is fully equipped with everything you need for a peaceful and restorative break. There is a fantastic king size bed in the master bedroom, where you can enjoy views of the surrounding countryside without even getting out of bed! The woodburner is a great bonus on those cold winter nights when you can draw the curtains and snuggle up in front of a warm fire. Alternatively a dip in our open air hot tub is sure to warm the cockles! There are some lovely walks right on the doorstep which are much less frequented than the central Beacons' footpaths.
Waun Yscir enjoys a truly fantastic location in completely unspoilt countryside. Brecon, Builth Wells and the Eppynt hills are a stone's throw from here. Please note that if it snows we can be completely inaccessible so please keep an eye on the weather during the winter. We have a tractor and a 4x4 just down the road so we can always help if needed.
  • Great cottage tucked out of the way. Be sure to get an ice cream from the ice cream bar in Brecon. Bring flip flops!

  • The house is set in beautiful rural Wales, with stunning views. The property was immaculate and the grounds very well kept. Great directions from the host which certainly made it much easier to find along with super easy check in. We would highly recommend this little escape from the rat race and would certainly consider returning in the future!

  • Just back from a wonderful long weekend. Becky and Sean were great hosts, even managing to save our Sainsburys food order from heading back to the depot when we were late arriving! The house was beautifully clean and cosy, the log burner and hot tub were the icing on the cake. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to the Brecons! Thank you Becky and Sean x

Come and visit our beautiful, restored wagon, high on a peaceful, off-grid hill. For walkers or cyclists, romantic breaks or retreats in nature; this is perfect for adventures or simply relaxing on the deck with a cup of tea heated by hydro power. Cosy all year round with wood burning stove and kitchenette, it has all you need for a relaxing stay. Holistic massage is available in the farmhouse for that added touch of luxury and relaxation, if the peace, quiet and the birdsong is not enough!
Getting away from it all is easier than you may think, in this surprising little carriage perched on a secluded hill. It is a unique space in many ways, but I can describe to you some of our favourites! The carriage is on the land of a working smallholding and community. The farmhouse has several people living and sharing the garden, and we are completely off-grid, with our own fresh water supply, and self-contained small hydro system with solar backup to provide all our electricity. The carriage itself is made from a guards wagon. Before braking could be done remotely from the engine, a guard traveled in this wagon, and would have had to manually brake all of the carriages when necessary. When technology advanced, these wagons were sold off to farmers by the railways, as well-built sheds and cabins. This one was winched to the top of our hill and renovated, and we are very excited to be sharing it! Ideal for retreats, romantic breaks, or for a base on a walking or cycling trip, the carriage is close enough to civilization to be convenient (the market town of Machynlleth is a 15 minute drive away) but also remote enough to really, truly relax. I also have a treatment room in the house, so if you would like to book in for a Holistic Massage as part of your holiday, just let me know and I'll be very happy to see you. The farmhouse who's land the carriage is on, is the only dwelling on this side of the mountain, so if peace is what you are looking for then you have come to the right place. However civilization is close at hand! The charming market town of Machynlleth is a 15 minute drive away, and has a vibrant community and enough shops to get you everything you need. There are plenty of popular attractions, for example the Centre for Alternative Technology for those interested in treading more lightly, the Dyfi bike park for downhill enthusiasts is right next door, or the Dyfi Osprey Project, a breeding site for ospreys. We are nestled in the southern edge of the Snowdonia National Park, so there is plenty of exploring for walkers and cyclists to do- Cadair Idris is one of my favourite mountains and it's only 15 minutes away... We are 1.5 miles from the A487 near Machynlleth, up a forestry track- fairly well maintained but with a smattering of potholes, for the rally driver in us all. Full, easy directions will be sent upon booking! There is space to park, with a short walk (1 minute) up a fairly steep hill with steps, so please consider if you can manage this before booking! I lived up here without a car for 10 years, and it is certainly possible to manage. Trains come regularly to Machynlleth from the Shrewsbury / Birmingham direction, and from Machynlleth there is a good bus service coming to Pantperthog. It is a 25 minute walk (again, uphill!) to get to the carriage from the bus stop. Of course there is always the taxi- from Machynlleth it costs £10. I can provide their details upon booking. We live off-grid! We think this is pretty amazing, and love being self-sufficient in power and water. But it does mean that sometimes, when it's been really dry for ages, or when things go a bit wrong, we may need to be careful with how much power we use. Occasionally it means the peace will be broken by a couple of hours of our noisy old diesel generator charging the batteries if there has been some problem, or us using the chainsaw for a while to cut our (and your!) firewood. It means we'll sometimes have to ask you to use the gas instead of the electric kettle, and to avoid using hairdryers or similar high power luxury items. Apart from these rare events it shouldn't create any inconveniences, just a warm fuzzy feeling that during your stay you are having barely any impact on your environment, and a great example of how the eco lifestyle can work! Good outdoor shoes or wellies, and slippers are also a good idea as I do provide some but your own may be preferable.
• I booked the Train Carriage on the Hill as a surprise for my boyfriend's 40th birthday. I think he was a little bit shocked when he realised there was a composting toilet and a separate shower and in fairness, Meg does advise against surprising anyone. But once he stepped inside the carriage he fell in love with the space, as did I. It's so much more spacious than the photos suggest and the bed is really comfy and cosy. It took a little while to master the log burner and get used to nipping outside to the loo, but we soon settled in. The view was stunning when there was a break in the clouds. And to top it off we saw 3 jets on the Mach Loop, which was why we came to this part of Wales. A truly memorable birthday.

    Michelle2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely view from the decking area which also contains a mini fire pit where wood is provided near the entrance to the farm house. The wood burning stove was great and the pillows provided were like resting your head on a cloud! The sink is located outside which can be quite chilly washing dishes and yourself if you dont have the weather :)

  • Prepare for the most wonderful night/s stay at the carriage! We stayed the night storm Ciara arrived and were well and truly snug, warm and safe. Perfect hosts and the perfect little get away. Definitely a place we want to return to.

  • A very special place up on the hills, with spectacular views to wake up to. We loved our beautifully decorated little home for the night. So cosy with the fire blazing, the fairy lights on and a glass of wine in hand! It was blowing a gale outside but it was quiet, comfy and toasty in the carriage. Pure peace and privacy, and a great place to reconnect with nature. We definitely hope to be back this year for longer.

Walking distance to the village which has two pubs ( only one serves food) , an Indian take away, a Spar and a fantastic butchers. Lake Vernwy and Pistyll Rhaeadr both less then half an hours drive away. Both well worth visit

  • Even with relentless October rain we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. That view! Peace and quiet with the odd pheasant for company. Remote location without actually being that remote! Short walk to the village for pub, excellent indian takeaway, few minutes drive from the best waterfall I have ever seen. Plenty of pillows and blankets and cooking pots and plates etc. Wood burner to get cosy. You can find the village by sat nav and then find the house with the directions provided. If you want a bit of rural down time in a place that feels homely, I don’t think you’ll get much better.

Little Hourstones (named after the adjacent field) is a bespoke and modern A Frame cabin set in a quiet corner of our idyllic organic farm. The interior is light and airy with everything that you might need for a short stay whilst the outside benefits from a fantastic veranda and private hot tub.
Little Hourstones is just a 5-8 minute walk from the centre of the market town of Kington where you can get all of your essentials: There are at least 8 pubs to choose from as well a supermarkets, cafes, coffee shops and other independents supplying everything from local cheeses to antiques.
  • We had a lovely few days stay - very peaceful & quiet, perfect for a chilled getaway. Fab hot tub! Beautiful location, great distance to town & shops. William was very helpful & quick to respond to any queries we had.

  • This little lodge is lovely. A great place to get away with horses out your window and chicken on your door step. The lodge is really sweet and also stylish. Hottub is nice and just a great place to spend time with people. Easy to find and plenty big enough for the 3 of us that went!

    Matilda2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely relaxing weekend in the cabin. Will (who actually built the cabin) was on hand all weekend and nothing was too much. The cabin it’s self is gorgeous and very stylish with lots of gorgeous little touches!

  • Came Here for a girly get away with my mum and sister. Great place, short walk to local town with great pubs and cafes. Had a kitchen with fridge kettle toaster, and hob. Cabin was lovely and clean, with toiletries and hairdryer. Hot tub under decking was cute, but could only fit 2 comfortably. But still a great feature of cabin. Made friends with the two chickens roaming around, they even left us some eggs. Had tv with fire stick and board game and some books available.

    Verity2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely space, small, but 4 of us close friends had a great, comfortable time. Hot tub is brilliant and cute decor. Thanks!

  • Had such an amazing stay, the cabin was very clean and comfortable, there was an amazing hot tub that is built into the ground which was easy access to get into. Perfect location and great company from the animals from the farm. Will highly recommend to anyone looking for a weekend stay. Definitely will be returning.

    Samantha2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was absolutely beautiful! The building itself is so stunning and the inside matches this too - lovely and modern but with a cosy feel - it looks exactly like the pictures but also somehow better at the same time. The chickens that walk around really make the trip even better, they are such characters, and there are some lovely horses in the field next to the cabin also. We had a great surprise, as the hot tub has been upgraded and has now been built into the decking instead - so so nice and the perfect way to spend the evening. The only downside was that we couldn’t find the remote to turn on the beautiful bulb lights that frame the outside of the cabin, so we didn’t get to see these in person. The hosts were super quick to respond if I needed to ask anything. We absolutely loved our stay, it was idyllic and I am so sad it’s over already. Definitely hope to return one day and would recommend to anyone. Thank you!

  • Me and my boyfriend had an amazing and relaxing time in the cabin. Everything we needed was there, we even received some products for pancake day which was a really lovely touch! The hot tub was a bonus. The place was very clean. The hosts replied to any questions straight away. Both very happy with our stay.

Elvish is spoken here… The Treehouse is tucked away at the top of the garden, a quirky little hideaway for a couple. It has its own parking space a few yards away. Inside, on the left, is a coat rail, then up 3 steps you find yourself in the bedroom, with double bed and wardrobe behind the curtain – this however also has a mattress so the space can be used for a child’s bed (just 4ft long). it is NOT suitable for a crawling baby or inquisitive toddler. There is also an extra hanger for long clothes – generally used for evening/wedding wear, plus under-bed storage. The Treehouse is heated very well by a Dimplex radiator, and in the wet room, an infrared wall heater. There is also a stone hot water bottle if one wishes to revisit the past. The tiny kitchen has a 2-gas hob, microwave, Dualit small oven, fridge, single sink and draining board, and cupboards below with appropriate cookware and crockery. Drawer above for cutlery, and hanging rack containing batterie de cuisine – scissors, tongs, whisk, spatula etc. etc. The dining area has a table for 2, whilst down 2 steps is the wet room, with shower, washbasin and toilet. The back door opens out to a little patio, known as the “rust garden” with its collection of sculptures created from the agricultural throw-outs lovingly collected or dug up from the surrounding fields, reminders of when Foel Ortho was a working farm. A garden table and 2 folding chairs get the afternoon sunshine, or one can sit on the bench in the covered area and admire the pouring rain!
You can do all these activities locally: Walk, Mountain Bike, Road Bike, Climb, Sail, Open water swim, Orienteering, Fish, Horse Ride, Ride On Steam Trains, Canoe, Row, Bird Watch, White Water Raft, Surf, High Wire Adventure, Zip Line, Raft Build, Gorge Walk, Kayak, Abseil, Clay Pigeon Shoot, Archery, Golf, Health Spa, Game Shooting, Race Hovercrafts, Race 4 x 4, Quad Bike, Go Karting, Roller Coaster, Shop. After a day of adventures there are some great pubs and restaurants in the local area to recharge. Search Farmhouseinwales for all details.
  • If your like you privacy and a break from the huddle and bustle look no further! Unique setting in the middle of the valley, I mean a Tree House... where can you find that sort of accommodation anywhere ?! Wonderfully warm and cosey inside had great night’s sleep and a fantastic stay all together. Kind regards E & S

  • The treehouse was a fantastic place for a weekend getaway, and the suprise snow halfway through our stay made it feel magical. The bed was very comfortable and the space was just big enough for two people to comfortably 'live' In. The only 2 things I would like to mention, is that the bathroom was extremely cold. The shower temperature was lovely, but outside of that, it was very chilly any time you went in there (fluffy socks advised!). The second is that we were told there was WiFi there, but that it may run out with excessive use. When we arrived, it seemed that whoever had stayed before us had already used up all of the internet, and although this wasn't a big issue for us as we weren't planning on using the WiFi, it meant that we couldn't contact the hosts (or anyone) in an emergency, as there was also no 4G or phone service. Other than that, we had a lovely time and really recommend the treehouse If you're looking for a cosy break from a busy life.

  • The perfect little hideaway for a weekend in Wales. Had everything we needed, and was a warm and cosy place to hide from Storm Dennis! Would recommend to everyone and will definitely return in the future.

  • I loved staying at Jenny and Eddie's Treehouse, they are the loveliest couple and seriously hospitable and wonderful people. The space is a fantastic, fantastical achievement and a wonderful creative wonderland. The Treehouse suited me perfectly, but it was a little cold. It is rustic, which I loved, but may not suit those wanting pristine or modern comforts. It is otherwordly and very clever, the way the space is used is genius. It had everything I needed including a very comfy bed and wondrous view! The magic is REAL! Thank you.

Overlooking fields with Welsh mountain sheep quietly grazing in front of the Berwyn mountains, cozy cabin offers sanctuary & rest in a countryside location. Well behaved pets welcome. Small kitchen/eating area joins living room, shower room, double bedroom, parking space.
Warm log cabin with double room, kitchen/eating area, large shower room, TV, outside covered veranda with seating and table. Parking space. Lovely hill walking location with rarely trod paths. Please note this is a farming area so sheep, cows and horses and dogs all live and work within the area. Owls also hoot at night in the woods. It is dark here in winter as there are no streetlights - advantage if you are star gazing, but you will need a torch if you are going for a walk
Beautiful walking, riding, cycling country. Set in the rarely walked Berwyn mountains. The longest waterfall in Wales. Close to snowdonia national park. Both beautiful lakes Vyrnwy and Bala are a close drive with walking, water sports and good cafés and restaurants. Close to Chester and Shrewsbury with lovely old buildings, theatre, races and shopping. Nearest town is the quaint border town of Oswestry with Iron Age fort, some fantastic eateries and independent shops. Wonderful bridle ways locally and many tracks suitable for mountain biking as well as walkers and riders.
  • Warm and cozy in stunning location Everything you need under one roof.

  • Such a lovely cosy cabin and completely private. Very quiet, peaceful area and nice extra touches. Visit to local waterfall well worth it. Was raining our whole stay and high winds due to storm Dennis but was nice and warm inside and still thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Was an added bonus that there is a secure outside patio area where you can let the dogs out without having to worry about putting them on a lead. Thanks again will definately recommend to family and friends.

  • A lovely location and great cabin for a quiet getaway. Fantastically placed for walks/hikes in the Welsh countryside. Very warm and cosy cabin with everything you'd need for a weekend away. Easy to find just off the main road, plenty of parking and private, quiet access.

  • Cosy Christmas Cabin in the Clouds We had a very enjoyable stay in the cabin for 5 nights over Christmas. It was cosy (heaters and extra blankets, although not needed as the cabin keeps the heat in), very clean, with everything we needed to cook, relax in the living space, with a comfy bed and the large, hot shower was great too. Local maps and tourist leaflets helped us plan our days exploring due to the lack of WiFi, and we enjoyed the freedom of being cut off. We arrived late on Christmas Eve, directions and check-in all straightforward. Gwennan had decorated the cabin and left us some homemade mince pies as a warm welcome. They also dropped by to make sure we had everything we needed during the stay which was appreciated. Local highlights were the Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall and walking to the top across to the ridge above the lake, stunning views, we also had a good walk around Lake Vyrnwy in the mist on the opposite bank to the tower. We ate at The Hand at Llanarmon and highly recommended, roaring fires, quality food and the owners were very friendly. Our only watch outs were - flip the hot water switch, we missed it arriving late on the first night, and beware of stubbing toes on the door frame to the bedroom, we both learnt fast! Great location and one of our best air bnb stays, we’d love to come back in the summer for longer days to explore the area more.

    Debs2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay here. Really cosy and warm cabin for December, in a beautiful location. Gwennan was a great host, with really easy communication and check in.

  • The perfect setting to escape the stresses of modern life and appreciate nature in a low impact way. The hut is super cosy with the log burner going, the bed is very comfortable and the hut is decorated tastefully and quirkily. Perfect for dogs with an enclosed field of its own and beautiful views up and down the valley. The composting toilet is clean, hygienic and easy to use for those who might be a bit squeamish!

  • Thank you to Paul, Suzanne and Irene for a needed relaxing stay at their incredible hut. The place has everything you need and more. Gets so warm and cozy at night with the fire lit. Would love to return in the summer.

  • Absolutely amazing!! What an amazing few days! The host was fantastic! There are so many things that just made our holiday, and great memories! Past few days have been the warmest I've ever been, which was something we were worried about! The hut is equipped with everything you'll need. Tea, great coffee, every kitchen utensil and pan, and the way the hut is built and designed is incredible, it's like something off the documentary tiny house on Netflix. Makes us consider living small! Amazing views and surroundings. Loved the folder of info. Will return soon!

  • This place is truly idyllic. For those that are used to a compost toilet believe me when I say that this one is a nice one! The shower was wonderfully hot. The wood burner inside has a very handy little oven alongside which we made full use of. The field is perfect for dog owners, the bed and bedding was gorgeous and cosy and there is a little welcome folder with tips and walks etc. Loved this place!

  • A magical little home more than a hut. Cozy but spacious and made with love. A lot of thought has gone into this space. There is everything you need including a very comfy bed. Beautiful area too. Our dog was in heaven and so were we. We will definitely be recommending this place to others.

Located in the stunning and remote 'Artists Valley' (with Beavers) this charming Self Contained Space is in a 75 acre conservation and permaculture site. With unparalleled views, an ideal base for walking, enjoying nature and rural family retreats.
Further update due to the current health crisis - 23rd March 2020 We have received notification today from our local council that given the unprecedented surge in tourism to the area, they are asking that we curb ‘holidaymakers’ coming into our community at this time. This is a broad measure through the County to slow the spread of the virus and ensure that our local NHS services are not swamped by folk leaving the cities. The volume of 'temporary' registrations with GP's and local hospitals is risking peoples lives in this rural area :0( I am so sorry for all the reservations we have had to cancel as I know that you were really looking forward to your holidays with us! We will however be offering a small handful of LONG TERM retreats (2 weeks minimum) in our accommodations. We will have firm guidelines around anyone staying here to self-isolate longer term to protect our local community. This will mean NO day trips out (other than enjoying walks, paddling and fires from the cottage) We are coordinating shopping so that one designated person does that and will 'decontaminate' on return to site. Please get in touch if that may be of interest to you and you wish to discuss this in more detail. We send our very warmest wishes at this challenging time and hope that you and yours stay strong, eat well, get plenty of rest and keep smiling! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Coronavirus Considerations Updated 19 March 2020 What interesting times As we find ourselves faced with the current challenges surrounding the spread of the virus, there are understandable concerns about travel and contact with others. Although many hosts may be negatively impacted, this project is a perfect place to 'self-isolate' if that's what folk are after - as there is so much space here, hardly any people – (who can easily be avoided if that is your preference) and Blaeneinion is waaay more beautiful than being ‘stuck’ nearly anywhere else! I anticipate that folk will choose to holiday in the UK rather than in Europe this year and will be discerning about how to do that safely. We are one of the few places where folk can come and be assured of a holiday in nature with lots to do and without any crowds! We are keeping a close eye on recommendations from the WHO and wanted to reassure our guests of the precautionary measures that we are taking at this time. What we are doing…… Currently our family and long term volunteers are well and healthy. We have taken the decision to continue hosting, working and laughing - and we all look forward to spending as much time as possible in the gardens this Spring Everyone at Blaeneinion is avoiding ANY travelling and will be here at all times other than one person who will shop for essentials only when absolutely necessary at very anti-social hours! We aim to have all groceries and materials delivered through the post or by delivery services to spare contact with others and mitigate any risk or additional strain on the NHS of more patients at this difficult time. Should anyone on site become unwell, we have measures to isolate them for sleeping and living – and they would have no contact at all with guests and only distanced essential contact with others on site. Our accommodations will be kept fastidiously clean and all the team will be washing hands (and accommodation) in antibacterial cleaner frequently. Hugs and handshakes are off the menu for the time being, and when guests arrive, I would be happy to point out the interesting bits on site (at a reasonable distance) and make sure that folk are comfortable and know how everything works in the Cottages. We have produced laminated guides on how to use all equipment on site. All bed linens, towels and fabrics will be washed at a minimum of 60 degrees. Our team have been briefed that DEEP cleaning of the cottages is essential right now and we have purchased specialised sanitising cleaners for all surfaces. In particular, door and window handles, switches, remote controls and communal areas will receive special attention. Anti-bacterial hand soap and sanitising sprays will be available in all Cottages for guests to use as well What you can do……. If you are feeling at all unwell or have recently been in contact with someone who is, please be responsible and let us know. Try to bring as much of your essential supplies with you when you arrive – this will limit the need to go shopping and minimise contact with others in confined spaces protecting you, us and our local community. Please DO NOT come to us on public transport for the time being. This is an idyllic and SAFE retreat! Let’s all keep it that way. Ideally, pack everything you need for your holiday into you OWN car, drive directly to us and please limit any stops en route and social or public visits off site whilst you are here. You can still visit beaches, climb mountains, go on amazing walks, use the kayaks and enjoy the gardens and produce…. Your children can safely play away from others on the swings, cuddle the animals, make fires outdoors and go paddling….. If you do need to shop for supplies or make essential visits, please be mindful to protect our local community and use the hand sanitisers provided and observe social distancing. WE DO NOT WANT YOU BRINGING THE VIRUS BACK TO US! xxx Please observe sensible measures around hand washing and hygiene when on site to minimise transferring the virus to others if you are carrying it unknowingly (we will provide soap or please feel free to bring your own) Should you prefer to bring your own bedding and towels, we would welcome that and would not be offended (and any toilet roll, pasta and rice would be a bonus too! ) Please be mindful of social distancing and shaking hands. In addition, it may be prudent to communicate as much as possible through the message thread online instead of popping by for things… we are really happy to help and will make sure you have what you need x As a courtesy to other guests, please make sure that you wash all your dishes, cutlery and utensils in HOT soapy water. All that being said – LIFE must and will go on and there is so much to be joyful about and thankful for! Lets all make sure we stay healthy, eat well, get plenty of rest and have a lovely time! Smiling, caring, compassion and joy is very good for the heart and immune system too xxx For folk choosing a longer term stay to avoid the mayhem – there are opportunities to engage with the activities on site, learning about green building, conservation and vegetable growing. Warmest wishes form the team - we hope to see you (safely) soon! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you are happy to visit respectfully and abide by these guidelines, read on; This cosy Cottage is centrally heated with radiators which are on constantly (please let us know if you are too warm!), is well insulated and gets lovely and homely. There is also a heater in the bathroom :) Upstairs, there is a very large bedroom than can sleep up to 5 (very good!) friends or a young family but is better suited to couples. In the bedroom there is a hand basin with hot running water, a wardrobe and chest of drawers for you to use. The double bed has an electric blanket and there is a TV (which you can chose to completely ignore!) with freesat channels and a DVD player. Wifi is available in the beautiful Breakfast Room next door - and there is an (moody!) ethernet connection upstairs in the Cottage itself (please bring a laptop with an Ethernet port) but there is a good Wifi signal in both the Gazebo and the Breakfast room. Our connection here at the end of the Valley can on occasion, be temperamental - so just in case, best not to rely on it for life and death situations... but it is normally more than adequate to check emails, download films and make internet video calls. We hope that you will be so busy enjoying the stunning natural landscape that you may forget the internet - just for a moment xxx ;) There is no washing machine in the Cottage, but for those on longer stays (5 days or more), please ask at the main house, and we would be happy to help - £10 for a service wash and dry x The double bed is made up with fresh linens for each stay and extra blankets are supplied in abundance. Linens and towels will be changed once a week for folk on longer stays. If you require additional bedding, sheets and pillowcases etc (for larger groups using the extra sofa bed etc.), we are happy to do so (although they will most likely not match at all!) for a laundry fee of £6 per person. Although there is no open fire in Narnia itself, directly opposite the South facing door is a stunning octagonal glass Gazebo, with a comfy sofa and wood- burning stove - you would have sole use of the Gazebo when you book Narnia! 10 metres from your door, it is a gorgeous space to sit and read, do your emails, share bottle of wine, muse over a jigsaw, knit something or chat indoors.... but outdoors at the same time ;) ...................and it really does get toasty in there in winter with the fire going! - we can provide you with some nice dry wood - please ask for details. It is an amazing place to be in crazy weather! - right in the middle of it, yet warm and dry all at once :) Please note that although the Gazebo is lovely, it is an outdoor structure and the floor can get damp after heavy rain (but the sofa stays dry!) and although we do suck up spider webs regularly, there will always be a few :) The Gazebo is supplied with some dry firewood but we charge £10 per barrow load if you need more. In addition to exploring the whole Permaculture and Conservation site, you would also be able to make the most of our new 'Breakfast Room' - a 10 metre Conservatory with glass on 3 sides, tables and chairs to sit at and comfy sofas at the other end. This gorgeous space is for use by everyone at Blaeneinion and is perfect to relax in or check emails on wetter days - please see the photos :) There are lots of plants, a stereo system, some childrens toys (wooden train set has been a big hit!) jigsaws, a piano and a growing and eclectic mixture of books to enjoy. It is a great spot to enjoy looking out at the stars in the evening or enjoying a glass of wine after a long days walking and exploring :) The breakfast room is super-hot on Summer days and comfortably warmed by even the merest sunshine even in Winter.... the stone wall internally retains heat like a big storage heater well into the evenings. Please ask if you would like eggs or fresh produce produced on site (chickens lay much less in Winter though x) For young families -please let us know if need to borrow our travel cot :) Please note that the £7 per night surcharge for extra guests also applies however small the people are, so BABIES AND TODDLERS ARE COUNTED AS AN EXTRA GUEST. Over the past few years we have found that families with young children tend to use more heating and hot water, need travel cots and often more cleaning x We love hosting children so have remarkable facilities for young families - toys, instruments and games, super gentle and friendly animals, a fire pit for toasting marshmallows, kayaks and food that can be foraged on site! ... to make all this possible and enable inspiring and memorable family holidays, all we ask is a small surcharge of £7 per night per person to cover costs. PLEASE ENTER 'INFANTS' as 'CHILDREN OVER 2' in the booking process to make sure it all goes through correctly (I am in an ongoing discussion with Airbnb about all this) It is uncomfortable for us and for you if I to have to ask guests for a surcharge for their little one after a booking request is made :0( Lets all continue making this place special for folk of all ages!
Our neighbourhood is very quiet, secluded and tranquil. The air is clean, you can see the stars and we never hear sirens!
  • Lovely place, the hosts hospitality is brilliant with great communication and a lovely welcome guide with reccomendations of the local area. There are two towns in driving distance which arent very big, however if its a calm, idylic senic holiday you want then this place is great.

  • Amazing spot and lovely project, even in the driving wind and rain! No beavers sighted, interesting to learn more about them and see their work. Best of luck to Sharon and team for the year ahead, hopefully storms are behind us now...and this place is a perfect escape for 'social distancing' if that's what you're after!

    Charlotte2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in Narnia . The cottage was lovely with the added bonus of the outside ‘ hut’ area with a couple of sofas a wood burner and star gazing galore! The grounds are wonderful and the animals Thank you Sharon

    Zoe2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Fab, quirky cottage in great location

    Kate2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal location to get away from it all, so nice to go off grid and wander around the hills and woods (even in winter). Lovely food on site, but worth getting some basics first. You won't find many better hosts than Sharon !

  • If you are looking for an experience that gives inspiration and hope. You need to visit .The Narnia cottage at Blaeneinion was a complete delight. The cottage itself is very cosy and feel so comfortable .The fact that it is set in a wonderful permaculture success story is as magical as Narnia. Sharon is a delightful funny and inspiring host who has created a wonderland . The bonus on top of it all was food foraged from a garden and eaten in February. I was amazed and delighted by it all.

    Carole2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Well what can I say that hasn't already been said?! If you don't want your energy or happiness levels topped up then don't come!! We were only able to stay of a few nights but we'll definitely be back for longer in the summer. The location is amazing.....oh so that's why it's called Artists Valley!! It's unbelievably beautiful and we're from North Wales which, as everyone knows, is the home of beauty (!) but this place gives us a run for our money!! Narnia is a gorgeous, comfy and warm cottage with everything you need to make you comfortable...including fabulous cat cuddles from the feline fun patrol!! If you're into photography or art, all things eco, animals or just chillaxing, then this is for you! If not, than go and find a noisy, busy, polluted city to go and get stressed out in cus this place aint for you! Peace out kids!

    Fiona2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect, peaceful, stunning location! Sharon makes you feel welcome as soon as you arrive; the drive up the lane is quite scary but it is definitely worth it. We stayed in Narnia which is a cosy little cottage with everything you need, such a calming environment with chickens and geese roaming around and the cockerels wake up call in the mornings made me smile before I even opened my eyes. Lovely walks and views which you can just lose yourself in. Seeing the Beavers in their natural habitat was heart warming.

  • Haf was a great host, stayed at the rainbow pods this past weekend when storm Dennis hit and Haf was great in advising us a route to avoid road closures, also responded quick to messages and advised us on a local pub! The pod itself was great, we had also opted for the hot tub which was lovely, just a shame the weather didn’t allow us to spend much time in it! Overall a great stay and would love to come back in the summer!

  • Would recommend. Quirky place, clean and tidy and hot tub was great.

  • Haf’s rainbow pod is an amazing place to stay for a quiet weekend away. The pod itself is beautiful, so cute inside & has everything you need for a great stay! The wood fired hot tub was amazing addition. The perfect place for a peaceful weekend with friends ☺️

  • We’ve just returned from the Rainbow Pod today.. what can I say! It was just amazing. The most gorgeous location and pod which had every home comfort you could need. Hubby and I stayed for one night but we could have gladly moved in! It has everything you need for a cosy night away. We loved being able to open the doors and look out over the valley. The hot tub was brilliant, even though it’s November we spent our evening in it looking at the stars and chatting. The heating in the pod was great too and was lovely and warm to go back into. Just perfect. Thank you Haf, we’ll definitely be back soon!!

Cozy wooden cabin in the heart of Wales set amongst the forest of beautiful Abergwesyn. Great base for adventurers or as a romantic getaway.
Cozy wooden cabin in the heart of Wales set amongst the forests of beautiful Abergwesyn. Great base for adventurers, walkers, bikers and cyclists or as a romantic getaway. Single room wooden cabin with outside under cover kitchen facilities. Separate toilet, sink and hot water shower in nearby barn. The cabin is located near to the owner's cottage, but is very private, and has it's own garden area with space for an extra tent. No other properties are visible from the cabin. Well behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement, and must be kept on a lead at all times outside the cabin. The cabin is unheated during the summer months, early autumn and late spring, but there are plenty of blankets and hot water bottles to keep guests warm on chilly evenings. Interaction with host is as required by the guests. Stunning scenery, wildlife, wild swimming, mountain walking or biking, fabulous drives, and starry starry nights. Excellent pub food three miles away. The cabin is rural so a car, bike or bicycles are a necessity. Private parking is available.

  • We are two young professionals who left the comfort and security of the West Midlands for our first romantic getaway. What could be better than staying in a cosy cabin surrounded by glorious nature and outstanding scenery? Between Google maps and Janine’s instructions, we had no problems finding the location. Upon arrival, Janine welcomed us and showed us around our abode for the next two nights. After all our travelling, like many others before us, we indulged in Janine’s delicious Welsh cakes which lived up to the description left in previous reviews. After settling in, our survival instincts kicked in and we lit a fire in the fire pit. We had brought with us three large bags of kindling, a box of fire lighters and a lighter. We later discovered that we only needed two bags of kindling because we only cooked on the fire pit twice, each evening. However we had to drive to a shop to get more firefighters. (Top tip: don’t leave your lighter out in the rain overnight or this will be added to your shopping list). Cooking on the fire pit was a lovely experience and created a real sense of adventure and teamwork. (Top tip: With no light pollution to spoil the scenery it would be great to bring a torch with you to ensure that your meat is cooked through or just use the torch on your phone). After filling our bellies, we retired for the night. Being winter, Janine had thoughtfully provided and left on an electric heater which took the chill off the room. We did however, make full use of the array of blankets provided to keep warm. The next day, we woke up feeling refreshed to the sound of the stream nearby. The amenities in the kitchenette meant that we could make a cup of tea using the kettle provided and cook sausages on the induction hob. In the cabin is a folder filled with information of local walks and advice. We used this to plan our day and set off exploring on one of the routes provided. The route we chose was not overly demanding but provided breathtaking scenery and the instructions were accurate meaning we did not get lost. (Top tip: bring snacks and a drink for your walk). When we returned from our expedition, we slipped into something more comfortable, the ponchos provided and played one of the many board games located in the cupboard. It rained on and off throughout our stay which only added to the charm. It was cloudy on the first night but we were fortunate that on the second night, the sky was clear and the stars pierced the night sky. We sat outside stargazing with a cup of tea and it was breathtaking. The following day, we checked out but just before venturing back to reality we took a detour to the Devil’s Staircase. The scenery on the drive there is incredible and the drive was not taxing due to the good roads. (Top tip: the road leading to the Devil’s Staircase is steep and winding. However my Hyundai i10 handled it, if she can, you can). We then ventured home and have enjoyed reminiscing about it since and would happily return.

  • Just as described, peaceful and remote in the forest. A bit nippy and a bit wet at this time of year but warm and cosy in the cabin.

    Eva2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Quirky cabin in the woods, nice and peaceful, board games are a nice touch! Had a fantastic time away for the night. Made our experience better with no phone signal, being away from the world. Highly recommend! Will definitely be going back.

    Jasmine2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Everything you need for a peaceful, lovely weekend.. The electric blanket and the board games were much appreciated.

    Ame2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Janine was a lovely and kind host who greeted us on check in and showed us around. The cabin was exactly what we needed for a quiet night away and we made full use of the board games and cooked our dinner on the fire outside. We stayed on a night that got down to minus temperatures but still stayed warm in the cabin and the electric blankets kept us cosy through the night! Thank you for a lovely stay!

    Hannah2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cabin in the middle of the woods. Cosy little space. A little cold but we did have a heater / plenty of blankets & slippers! Plenty of nearby streams and waterfalls. Be sure to check out devil's staircase for absolutely stunning views!

Little Pudding Cottage is a beautiful example of the classic country hideaway. Nestled in the Welsh countryside, just into the Cambrian Mountains, it enjoys the splendour of nature and peaceful calm of times past. The accommodation is full of character and original charm, while maintaining the modern comforts of home. With its own garden, this former shepherd's cottage is surrounded by rugged hills and an unspoilt rural landscape at the very end of a single-track road. The perfect rural retreat!
The detached cottage is very remote and you really do feel like you are getting away from it all. There are plenty of walks on the doorstep where you are very unlikely to meet another person. The conservatory gives you spectacular views whatever the weather, whilst the summerhouse is the perfect place to have a glass of wine and watch the sunset.
The cottage is surrounded by farmland and 17,500 acres of National Trust Moorland and so totally private and secluded.
  • I would like to say this is the best cottage we have ever stayed at .Such a wonderful place to reset away from the modern world , we really enjoyed the remote location and amazing walks from the door . We spotted wild horses on the moor from the cottage ! LPC is our idea of heaven and we hope to be lucky enough to return time and time again .

    Jon2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Believe the reviews, this is a fabulous cozy cottage in the most stunning location. The weather was against us but we still managed walks from the front door every day. We were lucky enough to meet the brother of a chap who was born in LPC in the 40s and they both used to shepherd here. Great stories, great landscape, great place all round. Enjoy.

  • Little Pudding Cottage is as charming as it looks, if you want to escape the rat race but just can't quite live without satelite TV and Wi-Fi. The cottage has boatloads of Olde world charm with double glazing, insulation, gas, electricity, running water and ful bathroom. The cupboards are full of all the neccesary pots, pans, books and cleaning equipment, there is a good supply of logs for the burner, comfortable beds and furniture etc. etc. etc. Every care has been taken to make your stay an unforgettable one.

    Peter2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Little Pudding Cottage is exactly as described. It is a beautiful and cute cottage loctated in spectacular and peacful surroundings. My wife, 2 children and dog had a marvellous time walking, relaxing and sitting by the fire. The cottage is comfortable with everything you need and you have seemily endless countryside to explore by foot. You are also close to many other attractions such as the Elan Valley or Brecon Beacons. Jon's communication was first class throughout making our stay very easy and allowing us to feel relaxed about the process from booking, arriving and leaving. We would recommend Little Pudding Cottage to anyone.

So you can leave the cabin and explore the area for miles. Alternatively you can sit on the decking spotting otters and herons while sipping a G & T or relax in the hammock over the river and enjoy the floating sound of the river flowing under you.
  • Loved our stay here. The file of information they had left was very useful and we are so glad we took their advice to warm up in the sauna before plunging to the freezing river! Such an exhilarating experience! We really felt in touch with nature here and the constant sound of the river was so comforting. They had all you needed for a lovely stay. We had breakfast on the balcony, champagne in the sauna, dinner in the cabin. We read, we swam, we played games. What more could you want? The dog enjoyed it immensely, even more than us if that was possible. She was so excited the whole time we were there, she didn't stop running, and slept all the way home! Was a perfect start to our married life (even in the midst of coronavirus coming across everything!). We will be back, for longer! Hyfryd o le, diolch o galon!

  • We had a fantastic weekend at the cabin. The cabin and surrounding environment is very romantic, peaceful and relaxing. The hosts were very welcoming and went out of their way to make our stay as perfect as possible, many thanks. The sauna is a must and make use of the freezing river next to it, highly recommended. Probably the best place we have ever stayed at!

    Christian2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • My partner Conor and I have spent two nights at the beautiful shepherds hut and enjoyed our stay massively. Even though it was fairly stormy at times, we felt cosy in the hut with the fire on. The hut was sparkling clean and the bed is so comfortable, much bigger and deeper as some of the pictures let on. This shepherds hut really is a beautiful work of art and you‘ll find quirky, beautiful aspects all around the property, for example re-purposed cutlery as coat hangers. There has been so much love, thought and effort put into the development and maintenance of this hut, it’s wonderful. We will surely be back!

    Julia2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely couple of nights in Cabanant - even if one was cut short by Storm Dennis' persistent downpours! A great place to stay whatever the weather; obviously sunshine is preferable, but even in grey conditions the cabin comes alive as a great cosy hidey-hole. Highly recommended, and we'll definitely be back in the summer.

    Alex2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect getaway. The hut is built with attention for detail and is set in a magical location. Hearing the sounds of the gentle stream is guaranteed to give you a good night's rest. An absolute recommendation.

  • There was once a little buffalo, and he had everything he ever wanted; the city was his oyster. Yet he was not satisfied. Only when he lost everything, did he realise that less is more. Losing everything was a small price to pay for finding himself. This place may help you along your journey. Wonderful little place within a beautiful location. Highly recommend using the sauna!

  • We really enjoyed staying in Sian's lovely comfortable home. It is beautifully positioned by the river, a very relaxing and peaceful place, the log burner was a great asset at this time of year!

    Carol2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Sians place is beautiful, I would totally recommend to anyone wanting an off the grid getaway. The balcony that sits above the river that runs directly behind the house is such a lovely space for a tea or hot chocolate after a morning walk. Due to some poor weather we didn’t get to walk and explore the local area as much as we would have liked, however there were ample amenities within the house to keep us occupied including some board games, TV and of course the hot tub. Sian was very quick to respond and resolved any issues we had effectively. Check in and check out was really simple. If you have a slightly bigger car, the car parking immediately outside the house may be a bit tight, however there is a space across the road to use. Overall, we all loved our stay at Sians place. Thank you!

    Charlotte2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Had a fab weekend. Loved the log burner, nice big size and the logs were appreciated. Very cosy in the evening, especially as we had freezing temperatures. The hot tub was a treat! Well equipped kitchen and very comfy double bed. Sian has left lots of info on things to do in the area. We did 2 of the walks from the books there. Stunning countryside and views. Brecon is a lovely town with everything you may need and just a short drive from the cottage. Such a peaceful and relaxing time. Would love to return in the summer months to sit on the balcony, soak up the sun and just watch the river flow.

Our goal was to unwind completely and the cabin offered just that - along with all the amenities you could need (including Wi-Fi, usb ports in the plug sockets, plenty of cooking utensils and pots, great shower and of course the hot tub). We didn't venture too far from the cabin as it was so luxurious. We enjoyed cooking meals, having a glass of wine and completely chilling out. Our hosts were excellent and we loved the thoughtful touches that made our stay extra special. Thank you!

  • We were recommended the shepherds hut by friends who had stayed at the end of last year. Expectations were set very high and this place did not disappoint. It's so cosy and clean and very well thought through, it made for a really relaxing weekend. The location is perfect for walks with no need to drive. Loved it

  • I wanted something a little different and this carriage was perfect. From the gorgeous wooden interior, woolen throws and luxurious sheets, to the secluded whirlpool hot tub with spectacular views, our stay was spot on. Richard was warm and welcoming, he came and helped us immediately when we had an issue with the cooker. Great local information made for a beautiful walk and pub dinner. We fell in love with Billy the Goat and enjoyed watching the sheep from the hot tub at sun rise. Will definitely be returning.

    Sophie2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend stay at the shepherds hut, it is such an idillic setting and Richard had thought of everything... we enjoyed the Welsh cakes (among other food) left for us! Despite the rain we made the most of the hot tub and had a very relaxing time, we’ll definitely try to come back, perhaps with friends next time!

    Katrina2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn't recommend this place enough, Richard is a top host and what he's created is truly special, we shall definitely be revisiting

    Adam2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Richard’s place was fantastic, the shepherds carriage was beautifully built by him and was very well thought out, cosy and homely. He met us upon arrival and was incredibly helpful with showing us how things worked including the hot tub and making sure we were settled with everything we could need. He also gave us great recommendations on local restaurants and walks - including mentioning a walk up to a pool above the hut which was definitely worth seeing especially with all the horses! Inside we had fresh milk, bread, eggs, tea making facilities and welsh cakes, just what we needed after a long drive! And of course the hot tub was fantastic for relaxing after a long walk! Would highly recommend and hope to return again in the future, thank you Richard.

  • Absolutely amazing stay at Riversound B&B! The location was breathtakingly beautiful and the apartment itself was gorgeous. Jacqui provided a wide selection of breakfast choices and ample recommendations for nearby walks and attractions. Regular visits from Albus (Jacqui’s very friendly dog) was the icing on the cake :) Thank you for a wonderful stay - it was the relaxing break we needed! We will be back :)

  • This is an amazing apartment to stay for a get away. I came with my boyfriend and it’s in such a beautiful location with amazing walks nearby. Would love to come back and stay again soon! Jacqui was lovely and was always around if we ever needed anything and provided breakfast which was a lovely start to each day.

    Cara2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We love to stay at Riversound, mostly because Jacqui takes such good care of us We do not have to worry about breakfast or sandwich makings. She keeps us full of croissants, toast, tea, yogurt and fresh fruit! The space is lovingly decorated and you go to sleep and wake up to the river outside your door. Lots of pubs within walking or a quick drive. If you are like me, and work full time and want to escape this is a slice of heaven. We moved on to a place in north Wales that is nice with a view. There is such a difference in how I feel coming to Jacqui's home..it is so cozy and delightful.

  • Stunning place, beautiful scenes, cosy and clean! Fully recommend!

    Sophie2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We needed 2 days of rest and nature. We got more than we needed here. The open fire, the rushing waters and the water fall on your door step cleared away any cobwebs. This is an amazing place to stay. I can not recommend Jacqui and John highly enough.

    Maged2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great space, had breakfast stuff and drink etc there waiting for us. No cooker or hob but the pub was about a minute walk from the house or there were loads of places around if you’ve got a car. It was raining when we were there but it would have been so lovely to sit outside and have breakfast and watch the river. Lots of maps and personal recommendations for things to do when we arrived. We drive to the four waterfalls and did the walk which was amazing but it was a bit of a drive. Definitely need a car if you want to explore. Very pretty views. We had a lovely time.

  • Beautiful cottage, great location. Quick responses with tips on the local area. Amazing extras for special touch. Biscuits, fruit, milk, juice, breakfast condiments, bread, fresh coffee. Made the weekend very special. Even messaged to say not to rush checking out and to take our time. Thanks so much for a lovely stay x

Cut Cywarch is in the heart of the Southern Snowdonia mountains. Set at the foot of the Aran Fawddwy (905m) - there are many walks starting from the door step of the hut. If you are looking to switch off and get away from it all, then this is the place for you. With no mobile phone signal or wifi you are sure to have some peace and quiet! Perfect for a couple getaway.
Wooden hut in the mountains. 3.5 miles from the village of Dinas Mawddwy where you will find a two pubs, a garden centre two cafes and a crafts centre. A further mile up the road there is a petrol station and a shop.
  • Such a beautiful remote spot in Wales, we absolutely loved our stay and particularly enjoyed the local walk recommendation. The bed was also really comfortable and enjoying breakfast outside in the sun was perfect

    Stephanie2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Loved it so much, such an amazing location for walking and views. Gorgeous stream running past, it’s just beautiful.

    Bethany2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Last minute trip down wales, cut cywarch was a lovely cosy, warm, hut in the middle of a beautiful valley!

    Alison2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing stay. The location was perfect for hiking throughout South Snowdonia and there are plenty of guides in the hut to help you find the right walk. The hut was very cosy and genuinely felt a lot more spacious than the pics make it look. Shower was nice and had all the necessary amenities to cook some decent meals. The best thing was waking up to the mountains literally on your doorstep with the stream flowing right next to you. Highly recommend, will definitely be coming back!

    Henry2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing location. The photos do not do this place justice. This is the perfect place to stay if you like to walk. Just outside your doorstep there are national walks with beautiful views. There's also a beautiful river running by the side of the wooden pod which can't be seen in the photos Ellen has up. We stayed for one night, and the wooden pod is lovely and cosy with all the amenities you'd need. We visited the local pub The Red Lion for food, which had a lovely open fire and great pub grub 😃 loved that there was no signal, WiFi or television, it really added to the relaxing weekend away! Will definitely be back soon.

  • Great host and a lovely place to stay with some really nice touches. (especially the Welsh Cakes! 😋)Conveniently located between Abergavenny and Crickhowell.

  • This place is a little gem I love staying here ..the bed is so comfy ,there are lovely fluffy towels in the bathroom and it is all so welcoming including the complimentary Welsh cakes and sweeties in the jars . Thank you Barbera I loved my stay again ..will definitely be back .

  • Barbara is a Lovely host who clearly really cares about everyone who stays here A brilliant place to stay too, great location and lots of touches which give it a nice home feeling Can’t fault it at all, lovely person, lovely place

    Christopher2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • You will get a warm welcome From Barbara. The accommodation shares a front door and stairway, but elsewise is self contained, and Barbara is happy to let you decide how much contact, if any, there is. There is a fridge/freezer, kettle and microwave which we found perfect for our needs. There are local pubs that serve food, more choice is available at either Abergavenny or Crickhowel. The canal that goes through Gilwern provides a relatively flat walking surface and way to enjoy the countryside as an alternative to climbing the many local steep hills.

    Vince2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Cwtch is a real find - extremely good value accommodation of a high standard. Barbara is a friendly and helpful host and there is nothing she has not thought of to make the Cwtch a welcoming and comfortable place to stay - I look forward to returning again in the Summer 😊

    Lesley2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderful find. The Cwtch has everything we needed. It was clean and warm with comfy beds and plenty of hot water for showers. Tea, coffee and milk were provided, as well as yummy welsh cakes. Barbara is a welcoming and helpful host. Our stay was fantastic value for money and we would highly recommend The Cwtch.

  • Wonderful gem with a fantastic location. We had a great stay and although only 2 nights, everything was perfect and the host Suzanne was super friendly and could not do enough for us. The bed in the main en-suite room is amazingly comfortable and probably the best I have slept on in a rented accomodation. Would love to return and see more of the beautiful countryside in Mid-Wales. Watching the red kites was a special treat as was the incredible star filled sky on one of the nights that we were lucky enough to witness. Made full use of the sauna and hot-tub which was great on a March break :)

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Suzanne's cosy home. Suzanne welcomed us shortly after arrival and we couldn't have felt better provided for. Everything was clean and warm and we made the most of our evenings by the log burner. The local area offers plenty of natural beauty though we found ourselves perfectly happy making the most of the house & sauna. Thank you Suzanne - we'd love to visit again!

    Jennifer2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • A little sanctuary away from the normality of life, but its much more than that, there is so much to see and learn from nature, and we must all learn to immerse ourselves in it more often. Anne's place is special and more over, there are few people who can really say they will leave this earth having made it more beautiful than when they arrived, but here it is being done, hope to return one day and see how all those wonderful trees have grown :o)

    Jon2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • For those that enjoy nature and appreciate the small things. Annie is a lovely host. I cannot thank her enough her hospitality . The yurts are in a magical place. The views of the rolling hills are breathtaking.

  • Lovely yurt, beautiful setting, great host. We stayed 2 nights, got through 3 bags of logs (which you can buy from Annie at £5 a bag) on the very delightful burner. The surrounding area is beautiful and tranquil, great for visiting the forests, hills and coast that the land has to offer. Shower was lovely and warm. It was a delight.

    Livi2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful traditional yurt. Really thoughtful touches such as slippers. We were warm and cosy despite it being January. Being in such beautiful landscape and off grid was really rejuvenating. Annie was a great, friendly host and took the time to greet us and show us around. We just wished we could have stayed longer.

    Sam&Rich2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Our second visit to Annie’s yurt, was a lovely Relaxing way to spend New year. The yurt is warm, cosy and tranquil. Had a great trip to Aberdovey on the Saturday - can definitely recommend. If you want to get away from the stresses of everyday life then Annie’s yurts are a perfect retreat.

Positioned off a private drive & half a mile from the nearest road, we have designed & built a romantic en-suite shepherd's hut that we hope will be the perfect place from which to explore the Brecon Beacons or to simply relax and admire the breath taking views of Pen-y-Fan thanks to its position at 800 ft above sea level. Please note, the hut is 4 MILES from Brecon where you’ll find supermarkets & pubs etc. - there are none in the village! There is NO WIFI, but most networks get decent 3/4G.
We have built "The Acorn" at the end of my in-laws paddock which is 150m from their house. (We live at the bottom of the drive),It is surrounded by farmland and has its own little enclosed garden and parking area. We have designed it to cater for two people. There is however the possibility that we could accommodate a two man tent in certain circumstances - please contact us regarding this. There will be an additional charge. The hut is beautifully cosy, as it is insulated and has 2 radiators. It has a double bed with sprung mattress and all linen is provided. (There is additional space at the foot of the bed to cater for those over 6 feet tall!) There is an en-suite with proper flushing toilet, basin, shower, towel rail and fluffy towels. There's a fitted kitchen with microwave, (microwave omelette maker & egg boiler). Slow cooker (& recipe book), toaster, small fridge (in the shed there is also a cool box and on request we can supply ice-packs), kettle & sink with hot and cold running water. There's complimentary tea/coffee & milk. There is a TV, with no signal but plenty of DVD's. There are electric sockets & even some speakers that you can plug your devices in to. Outside there is a fire pit which doubles up as a BBQ along with a seating area. There is parking for 2 cars (6 metres from the hut) and a storage shed for bikes etc or for drying clothes.
Within walking distance: There is a roman fort, hill top fort, a church and a river to paddle in & Aberyscir Common. Sadly we don’t own any of the land surrounding the shepherd’s hut, so don’t advise you wonder off across the fields. On a Wednesday during winter, they hold a pheasant shoot in the field below the hut. This tends to last no longer than 30 minutes or so. 1.3 miles away is Cradoc Golf Club, with its stunning course and great food. The closest amenities are in Brecon, which is a 10 minute drive away. There you will find: 3 supermarkets, cinema, theatre, chemists, post office, outward bound shops, pubs, restaurants, hospital, canal, river with paddle boats, military museum, sports centre and bike hire shop. Within 25 miles: Pen-y-Fan (South Wales' highest peak) The Big Pitt (coal mine) Brecon Mountain Railway Penderyn Distillery Dan-yr-Ogof caves Waterfall walks Abseiling & Rock climbing centres Horse riding / trekking Hay Literacy Festival (May) Abergavenny Food Festival (September) Brecon Jazz Festival (August) Builth Agricultural Show and lots lots more!
  • This was a lovely place in a beautiful part of the world, placed perfectly on the edge of a hill. The hut was really cute and every little thing had been thought of, from plasters to a shower cap. We had everything we needed and the host was very communicative. Remember the bump!

  • Great accomodation with an absolutely amazing view! Very secluded and private, which means you really get the feeling off being alone at the foot of the mountains.

  • Wonderful spot. Great cosy hut with thoughtful touches. Felt like a lovely private space with amazing views. A perfect base for a walking holiday or just a place to get away from it all.

  • The Acorn was a perfect getaway for exploring the Brecon Beacons! Such a snug, stylish and comfortable place in amazing surroundings. Loved the thoughtful touches (the mini welsh cakes were amazing!) and the bed was so comfy! We loved stargazing in front of the firepit with a drink to keep us warm. Thank you so much Sophie and Tim for a great stay, we will be back!

  • Where to begin. What a fantastic place. Spotlessly clean inside and out with beautifully fresh smelling bedding and towels. The attention to detail is second to none, every little thing has been thought of from ice cubes and milk in the fridge, to marshmallows for the fire pit. It’s the perfect base for exploring Brecon and the views of Pen-Y-Fan are going to be hard to beat. There’s nothing quite like waking up and seeing the rolling hills and mountains from bed. Sophie’s hospitality is 5 star. Would highly recommend.

  • Amazing place to stay! It's sad because we didn't been lucky with weather, but overall everything was perfect. Also Sophie is amazing host!

  • The ‘Acorn’ is an amazing place to stay, in a really special private spot. I was a bit concerned about staying in such a small hut 800 metres above sea level with storm Dennis arriving, the communication from Sophie reassured me, the hut it so well built it didn’t even wobble in the high winds. Sophie added some nice touches before our arrival which made it extra special, we hope to return in the summer.

  • A wonderful getaway for relaxation. Loved all the personal touches Sophie put out. Looking forward to booking my next stay! X

  • A gorgeous retreat in the middle of nowhere- perfect for getting away from the huddle and bustle of every day life. Loved the fact we didn’t see anyone else whilst we were there other than sheep! The hut is so well equipped and with some lovely touches. We thoroughly enjoyed making the most of the hot tub too!

  • Beautiful little get away, will definitely be returning. 100% better than I expected

    Kerrie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and accommodation. Amazing how much fit into the small space. Only comment would be more wood to be provided. Luckily we had bought some with us for the one night.

    Steve2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful place to spend a few relaxing days. We wanted to get away from everything and everyone for a few days and this was ideal! We were prepared to be cold but at some points ended up opening up the doors because we were so warm! The fire works a treat to keep the hut toasty. All the home comforts we would have needed or wanted were provided. We were stocked up on board games but there was also a tv and speaker to plug into your phone. Lovely town about a 20 minute drive where we had a very nice meal (at Elephant and Castle) and did a bit of shopping. We didn’t get to use the hot tub much due to the weather (to be expected when you book in the winter) but when we did get the chance that was a gorgeous time looking out over the empty fields.

  • Can’t recommend this place enough me and my girlfriend stayed here in February during Storm Dennis and it was still absolutely amazing! Can’t wait to go back.

The hut is a beautiful, self contained and fully equipped Shepherds Hut with the most amazing 270' mountain view. We are nestled in the mountainside below a forest, with a private drive, 1 km from the village surrounded by springs and fields, offering a wonderful sense of space and relaxation. Pistyll Rhayader, great for walkers or just chilling. please don't expect the Ritz. its glamping with a twist. as we are rural so expect a rural location
Photos don't do the views justice (we are told by everyone!)..... there is a fabulous sense of space and calm that allows you to be in the peace of the moment..... even in the Welsh weather! The hut is set above a 3 acre field which is available for your use and 25 metres from a 4 bedroom house and a barn.
Lovely little village, pub serves evening meals (Please check) and is good quality and reasonably priced. Village store and post office has limited opening times but cash is available from the post office
  • 5* Cosy, beautifully laid out, fantastic view, friendly hosts.

    Amy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Shepard’s hut was brilliant and had everything we needed for our weekend away. It was cosy and clean and was located in a lovely area with the pub only a 10 mins walk away! The instructions on how to get there were really easy to follow and we had no problems with finding it. We also went to pistyll rhaeadr waterfall which was super close and we would recommend it as it was beautiful!

    Rachel2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time in Natalie and Ric's hut! They were fantastic hosts and were so accommodating for our dog Poppy! The area was stunning and we thoroughly enjoyed our walk around Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall. We would recommend their place to all our friends.

  • Natalie and Ric were such lovely hosts and made us feel very welcome whilst also leaving us to it. The cabin is amazing, very clean and has everything you need with some lovely extra touches. The views were incredible and we had the best time, highly recommend!

  • A beautiful stay with thoughtful hosts. Stunning views, thoughtful space with everything you need for a break away! It rained for us & Natalie advised boots which were needed, but the hut was unique and quirky, sparkling clean, and the welcome as warm as the hosts! Definite recommend and would advise anyone to book soon!
