Have a taste of the simple life. This is a relaxed 1970s Tassie shack. Other than me picking up stuff and leaving if it’s a Friday, you will have the place to yourself. The room is not huge but has a double bed and wardrobe. Linen provided. Kitchen, lounge, dining are open plan with great views. Off the living area is a deck overlooking Prosser Bay. The area does not have NBN service so you will need to use your device data. Near the Marina in Triabunna there is free public wifi access.
There is a lovely, usually calm, sea view towards Triabunna across Prosser Bay. At the bottom of the garden ... there is access to the foreshore walking track. The kitchen, dining and living room spaces are open plan. The living areas and deck face north and the view. I have a small dog, a cat, and a chook who may be there for check in. Otherwise we'll be out of your way.
Triabunna is the 'gateway' to Maria Island. The Maria Island Ferry leaves from theTriabunna Marina. There is a coffee van at the Marina for those morning coffees, and a Fish Van that was recently rated as the best in Tasmania. One guest said they were the best scallops she had ever had.
  • the view from robyn's shack is beautiful, the amenities are simple but comfortable and stylish, and the ambience is peaceful. a lovely place to relax and unwind.

  • What a gem of a place. Great for exploring spaces on the East Coast. Cosy and peaceful - just the spot to relax in.

    Wendy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Robyn's place. The location is great 5min by car from the ferry for Maria island and a sea view! We had the place for ourselves which was great. The only small downside there is no mosquito nets (we got a few bites 😛).

  • A great little place on the water looking over Spring Bay. Very comfortable and every amenity in a classic Tassie shack... with all mod cons! Easy to communicate with Robyn. We recommend this charming spot to other guests. Handy for visiting Spring Bay Mill, going from strength to strength.

  • Have a real good time in this room. enjoy the sea view

  • Had a great stay with Ken! We loved the caravan it was cozy and had everything we could need. Had a wonderful sleep and a relaxing breakfast before heading off on more adventures along the East Coast. Orford is a cute little town and Ken is close to all amenities. He made sure we knew where everything was and made us feel very welcome throughout our stay!

    Emma2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Ken was super kind with us. He waited for us until very late to show us the place. I recommend it!

    Maria Francisca2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Ken & Pam's cozy caravan was absolutely perfect for me, especially as I was visiting Maria Island, such a fab location. It's near to local shops & a fab restaurant. Ken provided a lot of extras such as tea, coffee, fruit, orange juice & a little heater (which I was thankful for as the mornings were pretty cold). Ken always asked me if I needed anything, but also gave me my privacy. All in all I enjoyed my stay there & would highly recommend it.

    Ruth2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Ken and Pam were lovely and kind hosts and their caravan was cosy, clean and comfortable. Staying there was an experience I won't forget.

    Mandy2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely first experience in caravan. Ken is an amazing kind and thoughtful host and the location is perfect to visit the area (Maria Island, Freycinet..) The caravan is clean, cosy and has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. We deeply recommend.

    Jean Baptiste2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Kens caravan was perfect for our one night stay. Ken makes the extra effort to make sure we were very comfortable.

    Leigh2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed a couple of nights in Kens cosy caravan. Ken met us upon arrival and showed us how everything worked and gave us some great breakfast supplies including milk, bread, butter, jam and fruit. The caravan is a small space, but has everything you need to be comfortable. We asked Ken if we could do a load of washing which he was very happy to accomodate, which was very nice. This is a great place to stop for a night or two as it’s close to Maria Island/Triabunna and not too far from Bicheno and other great places only 30-45 minutes drive away. It’s perfect for a very affordable and good value pit stop if you’re looking to have a nights sleep after a busy day of adventure instead of heading back to Hobart.

The Gregan Retreat's located on a vineyard and sheep farm called Lisdillon Estate. The house comfortably fits two and overlooks the vineyard and Lisdillon Rivulet which flows down to Lisdillon's private beach, only a five minute stroll away. Included is the option of a free tasting of our internationally award winning wine.
The house has a large balcony to relax and enjoy the view of the vineyard and Lisdillon Rivulet. It has a fireplace to keep you toasty warm through those winter nights (however as we don't tend to do as many firewood runs in summer there is a chance there will be no firewood in that season). We offer a relaxed stay on a farm. We have a private beach which is so untouched that many rare birds nest there. We also have a private river which is brimming with a variety of fish if you enjoy fishing (strictly catch and release). Bring your kayaks and float down the rivulet to the beach. If you have a boat you can take it out to the sea and fish in front of our property (a list of species you can catch is available below). The house comfortably fits two people. It has a kitchen/living room, bathroom and separate bedroom with queensized bed. The property is situated 21 kilometres outside of the nearest town of Swansea, and an hour and a half from Hobart. Swansea and its surroundings have some well-known gourmet restaurants, the closest of which, Piermont, is only a ten minute drive away if guests wish to indulge themselves. It is a fifty minute drive to Coles Bay, and the world famous Freycinet National Park. Several vineyards set amidst the stunning scenery of the east coast of Tasmania, are within easy driving distance. Taste the high quality wine of Milton and Springvale at their cellar doors. Perfect for a relaxed weekend away - try some of Lisdillon's delicious, internationally award winning pinot noir or sauvignon blanc! For the fishermen guests, the sea out the front of our property offers: - bay flathead - king flathead - cod - trumpeter - trevally - salmon - perch - squid - crayfish The Lisdillon Rivulet has: - bream - oysters - trevally mullet - Australian salmon - brown trout - native galaxia -occasionally flathead - eels - grayling, aka cucumber herring
Lisdillon is a 6000 acre working sheep farm and vineyard. Its title includes three white, sandy beaches to low water mark, as well as the reef off the main beach. It also includes a rivulet with swimming/fishing holes, an estuary perfect for fishing and amazing views of The Hazzards and Freycinet National Park, and of Maria Island. Lisdillon itself is described by many of our guests as being perhaps the most beautiful place they have seen on their visit to Australia. With all this space, Lisdillon is the perfect place to go walking, swimming or fishing. Bring your kayaks and explore the river and coastline or bring your boat and launch it from the beach or from the MaST recommended boat ramp five minutes away. Perhaps you would prefer to just relax in the sun on the large deck, or in the comfortable lounge room in front of the fire, and read the books or play the games that are provided - and perhaps enjoy a glass of Lisdillon's own award winning wine. Or if you enjoy cooking, make the most of the well equipped kitchen! We are within easy driving distance of Coles Bay and Freycinet National Park to the North and Maria Island to the south, making us the perfect base as you explore the world famous scenic areas of Tasmania's East Coast. Or you may prefer to visit the local wine cellars and taste some of our world class Tasmanian wines and dine in some of the beautiful restaurants set among the vines. Enjoy a meal in one of the local cafes or restaurants in Swansea, Triabunna or Orford - all within half an hour's drive. Piermont, with its award winning restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and is only a ten minute drive. You might like to participate in some of the many activities available locally, including whale watching, bike riding or quad bike touring. With so much to do - and so much beauty to admire while just relaxing, Lisdillon is the perfect place for your holiday.
  • The Gregan Retreat was the perfect weekend away for two new Tasmanians. Location is brilliant only 1.5hrs north of Hobart, 20mins for Swansea (for the all important coffee) and about 1hr 15mins to the start of the Winglass Bay walk. The cottage was clean, very comfy, kitchen for cooking and a beautiful veranda to sit and read while looking over the river and grape vines. A short walk to a white sand beach (with some pretty decent surf while we were there). Katherine and her mother Jane were brilliant with communication, and while we kept to ourselves, the offers of wine tasting and local knowledge is a really nice touch. I would have no trouble recommending this little cottage as your east coast launch pad.

    David2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Lisdillon was a great experience! The cottage is cozy and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Definitely try the Pinot Noir - the best I’ve had in Tassie so far!!

    Johnese2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute cottage on a cute little farm. You are quite removed from everything which is what we were looking for. There is no WiFi but we had fine cell reception. Plus we were looking to disconnect a bit anyhow so this place was everything we wanted. Katherine was gone but her mother was around to facilitate anything we needed; the two of them were both super fast to respond to anything we asked about. I would definitely stay here again!

    Tommy2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, serene place to explore. The beach was gorgeous at sunrise. The small cottage gave us a peaceful environment to enjoy each other’s company.

    Michelle2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful stay in a truly unique location. A great spot for cutting off from the world and kicking back. Good base for trips out but retreating back for a glass of wine on the veranda. Perfect!

    Lucy2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing gorgeous oasis of calm. Luckily we were able to arrive in the light, as it was a bit tricky to locate,....but once installed, we were so delighted to call the Gregan Retreat our home. Tim put some logs in the wood burner, we had a bottle of Bundeburg Australian rum and two hot scallop pies from the local bakery and sat on the porch, watching a full moon rise over the distant hills and listening to the night sounds. The electric blanket made our cosy bedroom even more idyllic. The shower, towels, kitchen supplies made for a wonderful stay. A morning stroll down to the waves was delightful. Thank you for sharing your little plot of heaven,

  • Staying at Mick and Kathie's home has been the BEST Airbnb experience we ever had ... not kidding you, they live what AirBnb is actually supposed to be.. a beautiful home, with the nicest hosts, inviting you into their daily lives and making you feel like home. Their hospitality was outstanding, everywhere thoughtful touches (from little snacks in the room to better equipped travel suggestions than Tripadvisor) and the breakfast ... Mick prepared the yummiest breakfast with fruits, coffee, eggs on toast .. the full menu :) The cherry on the cake ... the most stunning view from the balcony overlooking the ocean while having breakfast, simply fantastic. Thank you for such an unforgettable experience Mick and Kathie!

  • Mick and Kathie were wonderful hosts. They helped us with our suitcases, made us breakfast in the morning, left us snacks and tons of information about things to do in the area in our rooms. They also have 2 small dogs who are so friendly and sweet. The view is also stunning. Best Airbnb stay we’ve ever had! We highly recommend staying with Mick and Kathie.

  • One of my favourite Airbnb stays ever. Thank you!! Mick was so helpful and kind, and everything was top notch. Wonderful breakfasts!! The house has a magnificent view towards the beach. What a treat to sit on the balcony at breakfast, looking at that view, watching the birds and enjoying Mick and Kathie's company. And the two adorable little dogs were a bonus! The perfect place for a relaxing stay on the East Coast Drive

Our family shack, great for a couple. Quiet area and close to the beaches. It is equipped with a free to use washing machine and full kitchen. Very close to three separate beaches and in the quietest part of Swansea. Enclosed back yard. If you walk to the beach in the evening you may see some little penguins coming home after a days fishing, that is at the southern end of the beach. The town -a 10 minute walk or a three minute drive. Golf club, Bowls club and cafes are all close by
The Shack is located in a quiet road that leads into a culdesac. So no through traffic. The close by beaches are the best in the area and quiet. Distant views of the water (200 meters away) from the deck at the front of the cottage and all day sun. Relax while planning your outings for the following day.
The street we live in is so so quiet. Very little through traffic, the local policeman lives around the corner, and all the beaches - three in total are all within a five minute walk. See the comments from our other guests. Safe, clean and quiet.
  • Great place to stay to explore the surrounding areas. About a 3 minute drive from town and a 30s walk down to a coastal view. Nice and clean and very cosy with plenty of heaters. Coffee and towels were also provided which was great.

  • Very comfortable and clean. We had no interaction with the host other than thru Airbnb. Kitchen was well outfitted and we were able to cook a couple of meals. Location is very quiet. Front porch was very nice. You can sit out and have distant views of the sea.

    Brendan2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great little house in walking distance to beautiful beaches and a short drive into town, where we enjoyed local pizza, breakfast and 2 IGAs for convenience. Kitchen has everything you need to make a simple meal and the heaters are great for winter. Was lovely to have our dog with us, yard is fully fenced. Ian and Jan were helpful, the place is very clean and the bed was comfy. Hope to stay again.

My B&B is situated in Orford on the beautiful East Coast of Tasmania. I have created a tranquil B&B for relaxation and comfort offering an inclusive continental breakfast. At an additional cost I offer home cooked breakfast and evening meals. Please see in room menus for price etc. Wake up to stunning views of Maria Island and enjoy your breakfast on a private patio with outdoor or indoor dining available. A two minute walk and you are at a beautiful beach.
I finished renovating my home and opened my B&B in November 2018. My dream was to make a welcoming & relaxing space that our guests could enjoy as much as my family and I do. I am a cook and have a fully licensed kitchen on site. We also grow organic, chemical free produce that we use in our dishes. My love for creating delicious healthy meals gives opportunities for our guests to enjoy our small menu offering breakfast and home made evening meals for those who might be arriving late or just want to relax and enjoy delicious home made food served in your guest suite at your preferred time all while taking in the stunning views and relaxing ambiance. The B&B suite is located on ground level. It has an open plan layout of the bedroom, lounge and dining with a small thoughtfully appointed kitchenette with fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle, please note there is NO OVEN OR COOKTOP inside but there is a BBQ on the patio. It has a separate adjoining bathroom with large shower and seperate toilet. The B&B has beautiful sea views and also of the garden and water features that have all been created to encourage relaxation and to enjoy nature and the peacefulness of our area. Stay for a night or longer, relax, have a cup of coffee/tea in the morning or glass of wine in the evening all while overlooking the water and enjoying the quiet tranquil setting that is sure to please.
It is a two minute walk to the beach and food venues catering to pub meals or fresh fish and chip. There is an IGA and post office just 1 minute drive down the road.
  • Noelene made us feel very welcome. The decor just beautiful, with quality linen and towels, and everything you could need. We would certainly recommend to other travellers. The view and the sunrise just gorgeous. Thanks so much, we really enjoyed our stay.

  • Noleen’s place is very clean, everything is like she described, from her nice little garden you can see Maria Island. Very convenient for Island exploration, 7 minuets by car to the ferry for Maria Island, and you can walk to the beach in 5 minuets.

Noeleen is a wonderful friendly host who cooked us a lovely meal in the evening at very reasonable price and provided a very good continental breakfast. Loved the garden and the views of Maria Island - lucky to get a good sunrise which Noeleen told us about.

  • Very clean and cozy space! Easy to get to and parking on property. Walkable to town for food and to winery for wine tasting! Host was very great

    Stephanie2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing. The hosts are extremely nice, they are very welcoming. The place is very clean and in a great location with amazing views. On top of this all, the hosts are amazing cooks and they will make you a great breakfast or dinner if you would like.

    Allen2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Noeleen's habitat is super clean and has all (and more) what you want of an b&b. Her accommodation and personal touch are excellent, especially the (optional) meals, both in the evening and morning. If all b&bs would be like this, there would only be five star ratings.

Or if you enjoy cooking, make the most of the well equipped kitchen or barbecue! We are within easy driving distance of Coles Bay and Freycinet National Park to the North and Maria Island to the south, making us the perfect base as you explore the world famous scenic areas of Tasmania's East Coast. • Beautiful stonework cottage, perfect for a family get away to a simpler life. The beach was a short walk away, listening to the birds whilst sitting quietly having a cup,of tea was a perfect way to recharge the batteries.

  • Amazing combination of great things - river, beach, farm, wine and history! The old Blacksmith’s cottage is beautifully kitted out and very comfortable and clean. We loved fishing, farm and beach walks and cricket in the backyard.

  • Fantastic historical cottage with modern amenities. Wonderful renovation, very well equipped, very quiet location on a beautiful stretch of coast.

    Chris2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at this charming cottage. It was so lovely and clean, fully kitted out with decent saucepans & knives that actually cut. It was also lovely to have those little details that help, such as toilet paper, tea & coffee. We didn’t want for anything. The walks along the beach and the drives along the east coast were simply beautiful. This is a great spot for exploring the east coast or staying out, reading and enjoying the bird life. Delightful.

    Claire2020-01-05T00:00:00Z

We are 5 minutes drive to the white sands and pristine waters of Great Oyster Bay. Situated right on the Great Eastern Drive Dovedale is the perfect base to explore the pristine East Coast.
  • We had a wonderful stay in such a tranquil location. Perfect home base to explore further north or south.

  • Lovely little cottage away from the hustle and bustle. Great host, cosy accomodation and detailed local tips :)

    Louisa2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • A cosy cottage and the perfect place to unwind. Relaxing on the generous lounge in the front room, the large windows framing the towering Eucalypt trees, the sheep grazing in the paddocks and the afternoon light flickering on the landscape. Our time at 'Dovedale' was the perfect blend of doing and being. An easy drive north to the seaside town of Swansea, or a swim at either Saltworks or Bolton Beach. Back south to the town of Triabunna for the Maria Island ferry, IGA groceries and the Fish Van or onto Orford for delightful walks, views and the most stunning Spring Beach. Maggie provides many local tips and directions. When we weren't out exploring the East Coast, we were content with the peace and quiet, comfy beds and open fire in the cottage. It would be our recommendation to stay at least two nights, we stayed six and we still didn't want to leave. A hidden gem indeed.

  • The first thing that came to my mind when I entered Dovedale cottage is "waouw"... The place has a very special atmosphere, so nicely decorated and designed..it's an invitation to just laying on the couch and stay there hours just contemplating the great views on the outside... Sparkling clean and great, easy communication with Maggie. We spent one afternoon, night, morning with my family there and we'll keep the best memories from those moments together in this unique setting

  • Such a gorgeous, relaxing place! We loved our stay; the views, the cleanliness and the extra touches with the beautiful jams etc in the fridge. The location is stunning with so much green to look out the floor to ceiling windows at, but an added bonus: inside was also gorgeous with the new, fresh interior with everything we needed. We loved our stay and would recommend to others and also return to stay again.

The magnificent 1832 log cabin that has been restored since then in 2005 and is now available to be booked out by the public. The log cabin has amazing views of rushy lagoon and the working farm. You can sit back by the fire and enjoy the view or even lay back in the bath and enjoy the peace and quiet. There is also a private veranda, hot water, shower, toilets, bath, washing machine and electric blankets. The log cabin can sleep up to 7 people if sharing or 5 singles.
  • If you love rustic history set in country setting this is a beautiful place to stay. I loved reading about the history of the 1832 cottage and sitting in front of the fireplace at night. Debbielee was a great host.

  • A really unique and authentic stay. We took a walk around the farm, enjoyed cosy woodfires in the cabin, learned a lot about Fonthill history and cooked up both dinner and breakfast while we were there. One of the best Airbnb’s we’ve stayed at and would highly recommend.

  • Breathtaking sunrise and sunsets. Photos don’t do the place justice our pup stanley loved the location due to it being so close to the beach. Beautiful house with so many useful amenities highly recommend.

  • Williams Villa 1 is a perfect location in Spring Beach. Lovely view of the stunning beach and the beds were very comfortable and excellent shower! We look forward to returning one day.

  • This is my second stay here & loved it just as much as the first time. Really beautiful space with amazing views of Maria Island.

    Allison2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was better than I expected! The view is amazing. The house was clean and modern and larger than I thought. We will definitely be back.

    Susie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • It was a great house in a special location-so close to the water for a morning walk or swim (if your brave enough). It was a perfect home base for everything that we wanted to see and explore-Freycinet, Maria Island and Hobart. The villa had everything that we needed and was really comfortable.

    Catherine2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful house in a beautiful location. The house itself could not be better - plenty of space, immaculately clean and very stylish. We had a minor problem with the WiFi, but that was easily sorted. Just wish we'd stayed longer!

    Carol2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place. Pictures don’t do it justice - kitchen and other spaces were fantastic. Bathroom and bedrooms also blew us away. We unfortunately had very hazey weather so weren’t able to appreciate the views on offer in their full capacity but it was still an absolutely lovely space to wind down. The deck is great for entertaining also. And the location walking distance to spring beach can’t be beaten! Couldn’t recommend this highly enough. Will be coming back to stay longer next time! Thanks for your great hospitality William

  • Wonderful host, very lovely. Beautiful space if your looking to get away, the stars at night on the farm are beautiful 🌟

  • If you are looking for a farm / rural experience, this is where you must book. Wildlife animal everywhere at midnight, loves the sky lots of stars. Highly recommended for any family to bring their children here to experience a no WiFi night, but the sky and animals are way more than enough to entertain them. Absolutely worth staying here!

  • Debbielee's family camp was the perfect stop over for me. She was so kind to greet me help me check in, and I ended up having the place to myself. The beds were incredibly comfortable and I had got such a great nights sleep. Hope to be back one day with more of a crowd! Thanks again.

  • A great place for a large group. Our extended family Christmas at Fonthill Cabins was great fun. Fantastic kitchen with all sorts of cooking equipment and the coldest fridge for the best cold beers and ciders. Crisp clean sheets on so many beds! The location is isolated but sitting on the deck looking down the valley makes the drive worthwhile.

    Rosemerry2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing hospitality. We were on bikes so didn’t have any food. Debbie went out of her way and grabbed some groceries so that we could eat! And started the fire for our arrival. Just brilliant.

Keefer's Cottage welcomes guests who are seeking absolute privacy and seclusion. Enjoy tranquillity and relaxation when you stay in our idyllic c.1850s stone cottage with its mesmerising fireplace, and secluded, private gardens. A fully self-contained, private getaway, Keefer’s Cottage is just a stroll to Swansea’s pristine conservation beaches, minutes from a wide selection of restaurants, cafes and vineyards and a short drive to the world famous Freycinet National Park.
Keefer's Cottage is ideal for one person or couples only.
Swansea is an established fishing and farming community. The locals are lovely!
  • Absolutely charming historic cottage, great yard and great location - perfect for getting to Swansea, Cape Freycinet, and the local vineyards. Very recommended.

    Matthew2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Dyranda's place is a beautiful escape and an idyllic haven to relax in, whilst exploring the Freycinet area. The gardens are beautiful and on a sunny day, quite pleasant to relax in and enjoy a garden dinner. It's a short drive from Swansea where there are a few restaurants to choose from. Reading reviews prior to staying at the cottage, we were very conscious of mosquitos in the house and kept all doors/windows closed. It was unbelievable how many mosquitos there were in the evening and no idea how they were getting inside. It might be worth bringing repellent or fly spray. Swansea itself is a great base to explore Freycinet National Park with restaurants nearby. Bear-in-mind, Swansea restaurants all close at 8 pm and the grocery stores at 6-6:30 pm. Overall, a nice place to stay for a couple of nights on our Freycinet adventure.

    Michael2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay at Keefer’s Cottage. Cosy period features with all the modern amenities and outdoor spaces to enjoy the sun. Excellent location - very private but only a few minutes to town. Beautiful orchards with many birds and bunnies.

    Gaby2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • The coziness and location was perfect! We would happily come and stay again. We recommend Keefers cottage to anyone staying in the Swansea area. We did boat tours from Coles Bay and Triabunna so the cottage was perfectly situated in between.

We were treated to everything you could ever want / from perfect kitchen to amazing comfortable beds and firewood / private beaches and a river to die for! Absolutely so blessed to have experienced this place. Thanks so much Jane and Katherine

  • The Coach House looked outstanding in the photos on Airbnb but they did this piece of paradise no justice at all! We spent two weeks at the property and can honestly say that it was one of the best holidays we have had as a family. There was nothing the property needed to make it perfect and it was made even better thanks to the wonderful hospitality of the hosts.....thank you! We will come back one day.

    Andrew2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Our group of 7 had the best time at Lisdillon and were in awe of the beauty of the property from the Coach House to the Private Beaches. The property is in the perfect location for day trips to Maria Island, Freycinet, winery visits and so much more. We also had as much fun spending downtime on the property enjoying the beauty and comfort of the Coach House and its gardens and exploring the private beaches. We can not recommend Lisdillon enough as an amazing place to unwind and relax.

  • Wish we had stayed longer. The house was lovely and Chris was very welcoming. The location was very quiet with a lovely view. It ticked all the boxes.

    Hayley2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Chris's property is sparkling clean and comfortable and has a beautiful bush/sea outlook. We really appreciated all the extra touches such as fresh berries, eggs, breakfast provisions etc, making our stay so easy and comfortable. Our kids loved the trampoline, toys and books, and exploring the amazing fruit and vegie garden was a highlight for all of us.

  • Outstanding modern accomodation with excellent facilities and in a great location for seeing the local area. The hosts provide a great selection for breakfast with some items from their garden. One of the best we have stayed at.

    Grant2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at Chris’s was truly impeccable. His place is absolutely beautiful and situated in an amazing location. He had everything I needed plus more and I truly could not imagine a better experience. I only wish my stay could have been longer!

    Hannah2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • It is no surprise that Chris and Brigitta receive such glowing reviews. They truly made us feel welcome and like we were old friends. The house and property are beautiful, spacious, exceptionally clean and delightfully comfortable. The beautiful artwork, thoughtful additions such as fresh eggs, fruit from their orchard, coffee, sweets and cereals were a bonus. We enjoyed our day trip to Maria Island as well as the views and fresh air on the nearby hike between Spring Beach and Shelly Beach. Not to make you all jealous, but they did bring us chocolate mousse one evening and it was EXCELLENT. ;-)

Relax and have fun with family and friends while enjoying sensational sea views and a stunning landscape from this historic beach house; the perfect spot for a special holiday, a romantic getaway or as a base to explore the East Coast. The Saltworks Beach House is a waterfront cottage with short walks to secluded beaches for swimming and longer coastal walks. Close to an all weather boat ramp, it’s an ideal location for every season. It has a special 'wow' factor you will always remember.
The Saltworks Beach House has stunning and expansive water views across Great Oyster Bay to Freycinet Peninsular and Schouten Island. It is in a private location backed by a large olive grove. The beach house consists of an historic cottage, that was rebuilt from ruins in 1987 along with the construction of an adjoining building and garage. The renovated property was a finalist for the Australian Institute of Architect’s national Robin Boyd Award in that same year. The cottage was formerly the Overseer’s cottage of the Lisdillon Salt Works, built by James Radcliffe in the late 1830’s using convict labour. Today, the open planned cottage contains a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and comfortable lounge where you can sit in front of an open fire, sip a glass of wine, read a book or watch TV. Attached to the cottage is a large sunroom providing outdoor seating and an additional dining area where you can take in the magnificent views regardless of the weather. The property comfortably sleeps 8 people across 4 bedrooms. Two decks connect the cottage to the adjoining building which features 3 bedrooms, a bathroom and a spacious sitting room off a sunlit gallery. A fourth bedroom and additional bathroom and laundry is available off the garage. The property features: 1 queen, 2 doubles and a king size bed that can be split to make 2 single beds. Talk to us, we will happily try to configure the sleeping arrangements to suit your needs and can pull out a trundle bed or sofa bed if required. See attached floor plan. Infants are welcome to stay free of charge, children over 2 years are counted as guests. The nearest shop is 20 minutes away so it's a good idea to plan your meals and think ahead. We provide a range of teas, a coffee plunger, milk, breakfast cereal, a rice cooker and cooking essentials such as herbs, spices, oil and sauces in a well equipped kitchen and an outside BBQ. The freshly pressed olive oil comes direct from the olive grove surrounding our property - known as Olives By the Sea.
The Saltworks Beach House takes its name from the historic Lisdillon Salt Works that operated in the 1830's and is now a small sleepy settlement consisting of around 25 large blocks, predominately weekenders with a few permanent residents. The properties are well spaced for privacy. As there is no through road, the Saltworks remains one of the east coast's best kept secrets, known predominatley by local fishermen in search of bream, crayfish, flathead, salmon, calamari, scollops and abalone. Getting there: The Saltworks Beach House is accessed via Saltworks Road which joins the Tasman Highway between Boomer Creek (to the South) and Lisdillon Rivulet (to the North). It sits almost exactly halfway between Triabunna (28 kms South - 22 mins) and Swansea (24 kms North - 19 mins).
  • We had SUCH a fabulous stay at Tam and Mercia’s place!! I knew it would be a great spot but it was more than great. We truly saved the best for last on our journey around the island! Thank you Tam and Mercia and we hope to be back again!!!

  • A beautifully appointed house in an amazing location. Stunning views over the ocean to the Freycinet Peninsula. The house was clean and comfortable. We all slept extremely well in the warm and cosy beds. Efficient communication with the hosts with prompt replies to any queries. Would love to return one day!

    Dana2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Tam and Mercia’s house. It was such a stunning location. So much history in the building. It had great toys for the kids and nice touches for adults like beautiful beach towels and views. The kids loved the beach and exploring. We wished we’d stayed another night.

  • Historic home with gorgeous views

    Anna2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • A stunning location right on a sandy beach with great views over Freycinet NP. The house itself is very comfortable and full of character. It's also very close to some wonderful vineyards. Would love to visit again in the not too distant future.

    Tracy2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic house in a beautiful section of coastline. Perfect place to unwind and switch off. Accommodates a large group really easily, with lots of spaces to retreat as well.

    Chris2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed as 2 families at Saltworks beach house. We had a great time - the house is very well equipped and comfortable, and the outdoor space and location to the beach is amazing! With the incredible weather we had, we spent a lot of our time outside and at the secluded beach which is a short walk away. The hosts were Super responsive and really friendly. It’s an ideal location if you want some time to chill out and relax. Nearest town is about 20 mins drive but it’s a beautiful scenic drive so no issue. The aircon was also so welcomed on the 41 degree day! Great addition to the house. My only tip is to keep the (flyscreen) doors shut to make sure you keep any creepy crawlies out! But great stay and would highly recommend!

    Angela2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Location. Location. Location! Oh, and a wonderful home in which to enjoy it. A truly stunning spot with uninterrupted views of the sea in both directions. Very thoughtfully kitted out by Tam and Mercia, who generously ensured that some very welcome treats and essentials were left for our arrival. We absolutely loved the log fire which was left ready prepared for us to light and enjoy when we arrived. Oh and a superb shower too! The perfect first introduction to both Tasmania and, for us, to Airbnb. We'll be repeating both!

The Shepherd’s Cottage is a two storey, rubble stone building which was built in the early to mid 1800s. The ground floor comprises kitchen, bathroom and living/dining area. The living room includes a wood fire and floor to ceiling windows which overlook the river and feature a view of the private beach two minutes’ walk away. Books, games and puzzles are supplied as well as a television which includes a USB port so that you can bring and watch your own programs. The modern bathroom, with easy access shower, has a large window with a view of the beach. The fully equipped kitchen has a gas stove, electric oven, dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine. Located 21 kilometres from Swansea and set amongst farm land and vineyards, the Shepherd's is the perfect setting for family holidays and cosy weekends away. Enjoy leisurely walks on the beach, try your luck fishing in the river or simply relax in the sun with a book, breathing in the fresh country air. Please note that though locals drink the water (it is clean), we do advise that guests bring their own drinking water. Perfect for a relaxed weekend away - try some of Lisdillon's delicious pinot noir or sauvginon blanc! For the fishermen guests, the sea out the front of our property offers: - bay flathead - king flathead - cod - trumpeter - trevally - salmon - perch - squid - crayfish The Lisdillon Rivulet has: - bream - oysters - trevally mullet - Australian salmon - brown trout - native galaxia -occasionally flathead - eels - grayling, aka cucumber herring

Perhaps you would prefer to just relax in the sun in the garden, or in the comfortable lounge room in front of the fire, and read the books or play the games that are provided - and perhaps enjoy a glass of Lisdillon's own award winning wine. Or if you enjoy cooking, make the most of the fully equipped kitchen!
  • The Shepherds Cottage is an amazing stay. So well appointed and fitted out with modern comforts and amenities. Albeit the location is not in a major town, it was a very quick and easy drive to either Swansea or Tribuanna. I highly recommend this stay based on it's seclusion, privacy and beauty.

    Ryan2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay, very peaceful and scenic. Too bad about the cold and rain but it didn't detract from having a good time. The kitchen had absolutely everything you could possibly want to prepare full meals. Be aware the nearest store is 20 km away, just needs some planning. Very pleasant.

  • Impeccably clean, cosy and steeped in history. The most wonderful view of roses, river, and ocean outside of the bathroom window. A beautiful coastline - we had fun fishing at a nearby beach, and cooking it in the excellent kitchen! Perfectly accompanied by a bottle of Pinot from the Lisdillon vineyard.

    Aurelia2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Just an amazing place and location. Loved the beach and historic charm of the place. A short jaunt to Cole's Bay. And really close to Hobart airport

    Jon2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lisdillon is a slice of paradise. The cottage had great amenities and a kitchen with every appliance. It is a great place to escape and relax looking out over the fabulous rivulet and bird life.

    Jane & Gary2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing and unique place to relax and enjoy the beautiful Tasmanian landscape. The cottage is clean, neat and comfortably modernised but retains its 1840s character - feels like a trip through time looking out onto the rivulet from the cottage. Pretty handy for a day trip to Freycinet or to check out Devil's Corner Winery, but would recommend taking the time to just switch off and enjoy the property. Stay as long as you can!

The caravan is in a quiet spot on the farm with privacy and a cute picnic table to enjoy a meal. The bread, butter, milk, cereal and homemade jam was a really sweet touch! There even was a washing machine and laundry rag with pegs! Breakfast supplies were plenty and delicious - especially the homemade jams and chutneys! Trish is a wonderful host! And has two pet Merino sheeps - Victor and Molly. Adorable :-) We very much enjoyed our stay and love to come back some day. Highly recommended!

  • This little “White House” was absolutely perfect for our needs and a great base to explore Maria Island and Coles Bay. It was impeccably clean and beautifully presented. The kitchen had everything we needed including quality pots and pans, nice glass wear and an extensively stocked pantry. (Don’t shop before checking it out.) Bed and bathroom linens were crisp, white and clean. The spa was a welcome retreat after a long day hiking. There is also a sauna but we didn’t use it. There is an IGA, butcher and chemist in Triabunna. We also enjoyed some freshly picked apples from the back yard. Thanks, Chris. I have no reservations recommending this lovely property.

My place is great for an escape! Peaceful and private, and only minutes from the Maria Island ferry. Truly mesmerising views of the water and river traffic. There is much to see and experience, and located less than 2 hours from all major attractions. Watch the boats shifting on their moorings, and see the Maria Island ferry from your window! Guests can access direct waterfront trail with lovely walks and views, and access to a sandy beach. Safe swimming and excellent fishing!
The unit is set up as a spacious two bedroom, large lounge kitchen and well equipped kitchen. Each bedroom has a queen bed, and there is an additional king size single in second bedroom. There is also fold-up bed for the sixth guest if required. There is also convenient parking just outside the front door for your convenience.
