  • Absolutely amazing stay at Riversound B&B! The location was breathtakingly beautiful and the apartment itself was gorgeous. Jacqui provided a wide selection of breakfast choices and ample recommendations for nearby walks and attractions. Regular visits from Albus (Jacqui’s very friendly dog) was the icing on the cake :) Thank you for a wonderful stay - it was the relaxing break we needed! We will be back :)

    Amber2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing apartment to stay for a get away. I came with my boyfriend and it’s in such a beautiful location with amazing walks nearby. Would love to come back and stay again soon! Jacqui was lovely and was always around if we ever needed anything and provided breakfast which was a lovely start to each day.

    Cara2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We love to stay at Riversound, mostly because Jacqui takes such good care of us We do not have to worry about breakfast or sandwich makings. She keeps us full of croissants, toast, tea, yogurt and fresh fruit! The space is lovingly decorated and you go to sleep and wake up to the river outside your door. Lots of pubs within walking or a quick drive. If you are like me, and work full time and want to escape this is a slice of heaven. We moved on to a place in north Wales that is nice with a view. There is such a difference in how I feel coming to Jacqui's home..it is so cozy and delightful.

    Carina2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning place, beautiful scenes, cosy and clean! Fully recommend!

    Sophie2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We needed 2 days of rest and nature. We got more than we needed here. The open fire, the rushing waters and the water fall on your door step cleared away any cobwebs. This is an amazing place to stay. I can not recommend Jacqui and John highly enough.

    Maged2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great space, had breakfast stuff and drink etc there waiting for us. No cooker or hob but the pub was about a minute walk from the house or there were loads of places around if you’ve got a car. It was raining when we were there but it would have been so lovely to sit outside and have breakfast and watch the river. Lots of maps and personal recommendations for things to do when we arrived. We drive to the four waterfalls and did the walk which was amazing but it was a bit of a drive. Definitely need a car if you want to explore. Very pretty views. We had a lovely time.

    Cassia2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage, great location. Quick responses with tips on the local area. Amazing extras for special touch. Biscuits, fruit, milk, juice, breakfast condiments, bread, fresh coffee. Made the weekend very special. Even messaged to say not to rush checking out and to take our time. Thanks so much for a lovely stay x

My place is close to Waterfalls, caves and mountains with fantastic walking. It is just a 2 minute walk from Porth Yr Ogof Caves, and 2 minutes from the start famous Four Waterfalls Walk. You’ll love my place because of the comfy bed, the cosiness, the kitchen and the stunning location. My place is great for couples. The property is a larger than average shepherds hut (21 feet long) with underfloor heating, log burner and it is insulated with lambs wool. This is Glamping at it's best!
The hut is warm and cosy with a very comfortable king size bed and luxurious bedding . A starter kit for the woodburner will be provided.
The hut is situated in the stunning Brecon Beacons national park right in the heart of waterfall country . The small village of Ystradfellte is a 5 minute drive or a 10 minute walk . Pen y Fan the highest peak in the National Park short drive away . Porth Yr Ogof the largest and most impressive cave entrance in the National Park is literally on the doorstep . Right on the four waterfalls walk .There is a pub that serves food (dog and walker friendly )in the village. There are lots of other pubs a short drive away some details and recommendations provided on booking. There are no shops , supermarkets etc in the immediate vicinity .
  • We went to the Brecon Beacons for a few nights and the stay in Lucia’s Shepherds Hut was bliss. Incredibly cosy, really innovative design and full of great amenities e.g. SMEG fridge and a lovely log burner. The location is equally perfect to enjoy some tranquil isolation, easy to hideaway if desired, or to experience one of the many amazing walks around the Beacons. The Waterfall walk was v cool! Lucia then came to see us on the last day and was nothing but a delightful host. Would definitely stay again in a heartbeat!

    Anthony2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful shepherds hut. Great location. Lots of things to see and do nearby. Would definitely recommend

    Kiri2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed our stay over the weekend, wish it could of been longer. The cabin was immaculately clean and we were plenty warm with the log burner and electric heaters. The bed was also a bonus as it was extremely comfy. Cooking facilities are basic but there are a decent amount of places to eat out nearby. The four waterfalls walk is definitely worth it and there are plenty of other walks nearby as well that will keep you occupied for a weekend or possibly even longer. We will definitely be coming back for summer. Couldn’t recommend this place anymore.

    Toby2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic little place to stay. Just perfect for what we wanted for a night away in the Brecon Beacons. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and just as described. Contact with the host (Lucia) was very efficient and also gave some great recommendations for the local area. Four waterfalls walk is close by and definitely worth doing if staying here!

    Damian2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most perfect stay here for a long weekend, couldn’t recommend it more highly! ❤️ Lucia gave us lots of info on the best places to walk and eat, as well as easy to follow instructions on how to find the hut, which helped massively. The hut itself is perfect - so clean and cosy, and I can imagine it would be as lovely in summer when you can sit out on the decking, as it is in February cosied up inside with the log burner lit! It was a welcome retreat after three long days walking. The location is stunning... the four waterfalls walk is right on your doorstep, and we also did Pen y Fan & Corn Du (15 mins drive), and the Llyn y Fan Fach & Llyn y Fan Fawr lakes and surrounded mountains. We do lots of walking and I can honestly say I’ve never seen such breathtaking views as we did on that walk! We were so lucky with the weather too, gorgeous sunny days, with lots of snow on the tops which made it even more special! We had an amazing meal at the Red Lion in Penderyn, and joined in the pub quiz at the Old White Horse in Pontneddfechan, where the locals were super welcoming and friendly 🥰 There is no wifi or mobile phone signal at the hut (or in surrounding areas), which forces you to stop staring at your phone - something I definitely needed! I would say to make sure you plan what you’d like to do before you arrive, because you can’t google things easily, and also download offline maps on google maps so you don’t get lost on the crazy country roads! We took board games and films in case the weather was bad, and there is also a selection of DVD’s in the hut. I can see why Lucia’s place is always booked up, it’s amazing!

    Jessica2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • The shepherds hut is a cute and ohhhh so cosy place to stay .The start of the Four waterfall walk is two minutes away from Lucias’s property so another big bonus for its location .The property is spotlessly clean, and we received a big warm welcome .A beautiful place to wake up and hear the river and birds singing .

    Sylvia2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderfully remote and yet still very much accessible. Well located to explore the great outdoors of the Brecon Beacons. Equally charming indoors, particularly when the storms arrived, with plenty of firewood and dvds to keep you occupied. A great bonus being right at the start of the Waterfalls trail too.

  • this property is a real gem and we would highly recommend it. Its a great secluded and private place to stay with everything you need. It's warm and cosy, well lit with a great games room to keep visitors entertained. We hired the hot tub which was a real touch! The hosts have gone the whole hog with providing an absolutely lovely place to relax and unwind. We will definitely be looking to return, maybe in the Summer time when it's a little bit better weather! Plenty of things to do in the area as well which unfortunately we didn't get to explore as much as we intended so hopefully next time we will. Thanks very much to the Birds

    Ian2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Although the trip was short, it was a very good trip. The cottage was absolutely beautiful and homey. It really was home away from home. Will definitely be going back in the summer and stay longer

    Dolly2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing views all around, lovely friendly people and quick to help. Lovely presented home, very little signal makes it a lovely escape from the real world, but does come with wifi if needed. The family dinning table was great for meals and games, the sofa was so comfy could truly relax after a long day of adventure.

    Rose2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the Birds home a converted stables that still had remaining, original features, a beautiful clean, modern stylish home. I would definitely have liked to stay longer. The games room was an added bonus for my 24 year old son and husband who greatly enjoyed the pool table and I even had a go at darts. Highly recommend one of the best Air Bnb's we have stayed at in Uk and Europe.

Our rustic shepherd's hut is located on our small family farm just outside of Talybont on Usk in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Wander down to the local pub, head out over the mountains and gaze at the stars (telescope available!). Discover Cymru - chosen as one of the best AirBnBs in Wales! The hut gets it's name from the Welsh for orchard - Y Berllan, as it sits beside our orchard. We also have two other little huts called 'Tor y Foel' and 'Pen y Fan'
Get off-grid in luxury in our shepherds hut. You'll be warm as the hut is fully insulated and contains a wood-burning stove (first basket of logs included, please bring extra with you or purchase from village shop or local garages). The lights and sockets are powered by a solar panel which should be fine for charging phones etc. Cook either on the top of the stove, BBQ grill or gas camping hobs. The double bed has plenty of pillows and a sheet but you'll want to bring your own sleeping bag/s or duvet. There is no water supply to the hut itself but you'll be able to fill a jerrycan (from the wash hut) and top up the canteen. Heat water on the wood burner or gas. The wash hut is located 100m away on the yard. There you'll find the WC and shower.
Quiet countryside with excellent local pubs and restaurants.
  • Great get away. Hut has everything you need and loved the log burner.

    Natalie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z

  • A nice hut away from everything. Accessible via public transport. The hut had everything I needed for my stay and the wash room wasn't far away. It was warm when I got the fire going. It was good to have a gas hob as well to make a cuppa before the fire. Really nice off grid place!

  • Great little place to stay as a base for exploring the Brecons.

    George2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Well thought out, clean, stylish studio which is ideally situated close to the Brecon Beacons national park. My partner & I stayed here for New Year's Eve with our little dog. Quiet room even with a pub/hotel next door, great amenities with nice touches. The fresh milk and welsh cakes were very much appreciated after a long day walking! Thank you for a lovely stay, will definitely be back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others!

    Jacqueline2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • James' Place was amazing. It is stylish and well throughout regarding layout and amenities. A stones through from a shop and local pub. Great TV to chill out to Netflix with and little desk for work. All in all some very clever touches to a cosy room.

    Mark2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • The place was really fantastic. James was thorough in his directions when the map can be temperamental. There were lovely little touches that made us feel really welcome when we got to the place itself. Really clean and organised to boot. The wi-fi was on the spotty side but that's the only thing I wasn't expecting. Everything else was flawless for the price. Great place and thanks fo the stay!

    Jaimun2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Nice, stylish, spotless and characteristically modern little patch of home that offers free parking. Close to Rhydcar Leisure Centre where you can find franchise restaurants such as Nando’s and Frankie & Benny’s, as well as entertainment such as a Vue cinema and about 20 mins drive from the picturesque Waterfall Country, great for a day out hiking. A 45 minute evening trip if you’re interested in having dinner in Cardiff City Centre as we were. Would very much elect to stay here again in the near future.

    Aaron2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant, peaceful, stylish, great value for money. I will definitely use this Studio again if I find myself close by.

    Lawrence2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely 2 night stay here, the apartment is stylishly designed and furnished and had everything we needed. It was clean, the bed was very comfy and there were nice little touches of Welsh cakes, milk and chocolates waiting for us on arrival. We could hear others moving around the building but it was generally quiet enough. Overall a good little spot for exploring the Brecon Beacons!

Our cosy guest cottage is situated in the Brecon Beacons in the quite village of Ponsticill, making it the perfect place for walkers and cyclists alike (bikes being available to hire at one of the local pubs) Brecon Mountain Railway is just minutes away and can be viewed from the comfort of the well appointed patio area that catches the sun from first light. Great home cooked food served at both pubs in the village that offer all a warm welcome. Perfect for a complete get away from it all!
Set in a secluded area adjacent to the owners home, the guest house enjoys spectacular unspoilt views of The Brecon Beacons, being 3 miles from the historic town of Merthyr Tydfil with its numerous visitor attractions whilst being close enough to the towns of Brecon, Crickhowell and Abergavenny to enjoy an easy commute of less than 30 minutes.
Ponsticill is a village well practised in welcoming guests from all over the world that join us for the wonderful scenery and surrounding walks. if there is a negative...and that's open for debate if you're looking for a real escape..mobile signal in the village is extremely poor and can be frustrating if you need to make a call.
  • Such a lovely place to stay - cosy and homely! Super clean and stylish with everything we needed! Hosts were great, left us some provisions and got the radiators on for our arrival - even donating some toiletries we forgot to bring! Would highly recommend staying here as so close to a number of great walks and attractions and having stayed in Wales so often, it’s not easy to find a place that feels private and rural and has two pubs in a walkable distance!

    Holly2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is an amazing, cozy and comfortable little home. Good amenities, it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. I would recommend this and I would love to stay there again. One note, i would suggest it is more efficient to locate the Red Cow Pub in your map, from there you are stone away from the house. You can have an ale or two while ask for directionsif needed.

  • A wonderful place to stay and a great base for walking :) a very cosy little home, I would certainly recommend this!

  • Wonderful accomodation perfect if you have dogs we stayed with our two spaniels and there is an area where you can close the gate without having to worry about them. Its very cosy without being small and the views were beautiful. All outdoor activities are easily accessible and the place was immaculate. We will definitely return :)

    Robyn2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed 3 nights in Clare and Dougie’s place. The hosts are really friendly, they made sure we had everything we needed. It is in a perfect location for hiking in the Breacon Beacon and the surrounding areas. The hosts also recommended a nice pub for dinner. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this place.

  • Beautiful property in an AMAZING location. Hosts were very good and nothing wasn't any trouble for them. There really are some of the most beautiful sights we have seen within a 30 min radius so a very good spot for explorers/hikers. We will be coming back next year, definitely recommend the Horseshoe Falls walk and visiting the Ponsticill Resovouir

  • 4 of us were heading up to Bike Park Wales and Black Mountain Cycle Center for my 23rd Birthday so we needed a place to crash. I found James’s Place while looking around and thought it was exactly what we were looking for. We checked in with a self check in code which was awesome so we could arrive at a time that suited us between 3-12. There’s also a car park which we could park in and Check in was super easy and well planned. We stayed in flat one which was very quirky and made us feel at home straight away ! We was greeted by James’s mothers cakes which were one of the best we’ve ever tasted and I was also greeted with a birthday card and some chocolates by the team at James’s place . Very clean and tidy and also have ya some little things like tea , coffee and milk which was great after a 3 hour drive. Finally james place is outstanding for the fact my partner left his track pump in the flat and posted the keys , so we phoned James’s place up and he sorted it out straight away and allowed us to get it back , that’s what you call a super host ! We will defiantly be coming back Thank you James’s Place

    Cari2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at James place for 2 nights on valentines weekend in order to explore the Brecon Beacon and the apartment was in the perfect location for that. The self check in was super simple and we found the flat to be very clean and had all the things one would need for a short stay. There was also a lovely extra of a valentines rose:) thank you James for that! The parking is on street and there was always a space right in front of the flats. Excellent stay!

  • James' Place is super cool. It has loads of character and some really nice touches. It was a little gemstone that happened to be on the way to where we were going. The village it's self isn't up to much but we did find a cool little tapas pub. It wasn't serving food at the time but we stayed for a drink and had a chat with a few local characters. Great value for money. Thanks James.

    Glenn2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and great space! Would stay here again!

  • We had a wonderful stay over new year here with a group of friends. Wonderfully warm hospitality, lovely house much more modern and nicely decorated than in photos with great facilities and clean as a new pin. The single room doesn't have space for a sofa bed so we had to put someone in the living room so that's just something to note if you're a large group. A brilliant stay and would definitely come again and recommend.

  • What an absolutely awesome place! As locations go to doesn't get much better than this. A cosy little cottage on a real working farm surrounded by stunning scenery and run by the nicest, friendliest couple who had loads of local knowledge and helpful tips to make the most of the area. Top notch, highly recommended!

    Jonny2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and cosy home, perfect for getting space from the outside world. We loved that there was no signal, but a gorgeous fireplace and snuggly sofa with plush blankets instead. Little treats and extra details really made it the loveliest place for us to rest before and after a big Brecon Beacons walk which we reached right from the front door. Thank you!

    Emily2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Got a dog? Love walking? Not terrified at the thought of no phone, TV or wifi? This is the place for you. A warm welcoming fire, all the amenities you need for a basic walking break. Make sure you have a book or your paints for the evenings and you will be out all day admiring the amazing scenery. Local pubs provide food but we stocked up with our own food and didn't need to go anywhere near civilisation!

    Nicole2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Utter animal heaven. It was so wonderful I plan to come back every year. I adored the location, the views were amazing. The animals were the best and the owners are simply wonderful people. We even got to see a just born lamb. This will always be my happy place.

  • ⭐️Amazing communication from host. Sent loads of useful information of directions for getting to the lodge. ⭐️such cute personal touches, daffodils, wood for the log burner, brioche, biscuits and doggy treats all in arrival. ⭐️sparkling clean, neat, tidy and pristine. ⭐️kitchen has everything you need, there is even a slow cooker. ⭐️I was concerned about the lack of phone signal, tv signal and no WiFi but it actually turned out to be the. Eat thing ever. We watched about 4 DVD’s and it felt lovely to be “off the grid” for a while! ⭐️we didn’t take children but this place is child friendly. ⭐️would definitely stay again and recommend to all!

    Eleanor2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Morris and Felicity are delightful hosts as are their array of pet farm animals. The space was absolutely perfect for us and the location stunning. Good luck to M and F with the farming ventures and hope we can return some day.

    Jimena2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Where to start ? The communication from Felicity was perfect and prompt, giving me all the information and directions that were spot on. The location was second to none, the added touch of the meet and greet to the animals on the farm really made our weekend. We have 2 dogs and I dont think we could of picked a more accomodating host. Felicity recommended the 3 peaks walk for us and it was spot on distance and time wise! Having the area out the back of the farm to give the dogs a run in the morning is a god send as they are active. To sum up, if you are looking for somewhere to stay, off grid, no signal, a few DVDs, a place the reconnect and reassess, look no further ! The most helpful host you could ask for in the most perfect spot, made for a PERFECT weekend!

The Butchers Arms is located in the Brecon Beacons National Park, South Wales and boasts a superb location that is close to many local attractions. The pub has a separate restaurant area, an 18 bed bunkhouse, a bar area that serves real ale from guest brewers as well as beers brewed by ourselves in our very own brewery, named The Crafty Dragon. At the premises we have mountain bikes for hire on a half-day / full-day / or multi-day arrangement. Helmets are supplied with the bikes.
We are located just a few hundred metres from Pontsticill Reservoir and the Brecon Mountain Railway. We have mountain bikes for rent and a MIAS Qualified Instructor / Guide available for local tours. Bike Park Wales is a short drive away and we have a secure lockup for guests that bring their own bikes. Our pub is just metres from the Taff Trail and with Pen y Fan and the rest of the beautiful Brecon Beacons close by it is the perfect base for walking, cycling or just a sight seeing drive in the National Park.
We are in the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park with many outdoor adventures awaiting our guests.

**Closed for refurbishment due to re-open Summer 2020** The Old Salting Barn dates back to the 17th Century & forms part of a charming range of old farm buildings at Llandetty Hall Farm, situated in the heart of the stunningly beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park. Separate from the main house, the barn has been lovingly refurbished but retains loads of history & character; beams & low doorways, stone flagged floor & gothic windows. Set in 15 acres of private pasture on the Mon Brec canal.
You will enter The Old Salting Barn from the outside seating area through your own front door. Once inside the barn, the entrance area has a coat cupboard, a side table, a fridge, a microwave and an area to make tea and coffee. Please note that there is no full kitchen but we provide a comprehensive breakfast including freshly baked goods at a time to suit you. The entrance area leads straight into the large bedroom area which contains a very comfortable double bed, a double wardrobe, a chest of drawers, two bedside tables, two chairs and an occasional table. There are two lovely gothic arched windows which give far reaching views over the surrounding private fields and the National Park beyond. There is a glazed door on the opposite side of the room which overlooks your private outside area and the farm courtyard. Accessed directly from the bedroom is the large private shower room with toilet and wash hand basin. The room was converted from what was once the salting room of the farm complex and retains lots of historic features including exposed stone walls, beams and a stone floor.
Llandetty Hall Farm is situated in the tiny hamlet of Llandetty which is located halfway between the historic towns of Crickhowell and Brecon in the north of the Brecon Beacons National Park and connected by the A40. The River Usk runs alongside to the East of the farm and the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal runs through the farm to the West. The property is set within its own 15 acres of farmland off a long private driveway off the B4558. The small villages of Llangynidr and Talybont, with their pubs and small shops, are both about 2 miles away to the South and North respectively and accessible on foot via the canal towpath.
  • An interesting and comfortable place, exactly as it shows in the pictures. It is out of the way but has everything you could need and Niel and Jim make you feel very welcome.

    Simon2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most wonderful weekend away staying at Llandetty, Neil was wonderful and the Salting Barn was beautifully appointed with some lovely decorative touches. Everything was sparkling clean, and we were made to feel very welcome. Local information and ideas for days out were aplenty, it’s a shame we didn’t stay for longer to explore the area. Freshly baked pastries and coffee on Sunday morning was a lovely touch, and we wouldn’t think twice about booking again and for longer.

    Alexander2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully located and a fantastic place to stay! Would definitely return and recommend :)

    Charlie2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem of a place! Neil and Jim were very welcoming and their communication prior to arrival was excellent. Their place has wonderful 'little touches' from books with local walks in, a fresh fruit bowl and pastries delivered in the morning. A wonderful stay and it sounds like this place is only going to get better.

    Liam2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful hosts in a beautiful location, helpful with local points of interest, would definitely come again.

    Zoe2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location. Well organised space with thoughtful touches - flowers on table, fresh fruit, juice and fresh milk in fridge and warm pastries for breakfast - all you need. Plenty of information about local walks and advice on hand from host.

  • Wow, what a spectacular place to hang up your boots after a good days walking. Set in the picturesque green rolling hills, you couldn’t real ask for a much more. A great base camp for hiking and visiting the Pen y fan and surrounding spots. Really nice & warm b&b with super friendly and welcoming hosts.

Our sensitively converted C18th stone barn home with self-contained guest wing and camping space, is set in our own managed deciduous woodland high in the Brecon Beacons with stunning views of the Beacons that surround us. We are close to the spectacular waterfalls, caves, and walks, as well as being a popular area for cyclists, with Bike Park Wales nearby. Dogs welcome! Ideal for families, with access and all rooms all on one level. (Please read the notes below thoroughly).
This is off-grid living with mod cons, such as 30MB/sec streaming wifi broadband and a Sky TV. Although there is some finishing work still underway externally, such as the AirBNB tree house, additional car parking, dry stone walls to construct, and with the materials and equipment required being stored externally, for those who love walking – perhaps with their dogs – there are plenty of superb walks on the hill and in the valleys. We generate our own electricity via solar PV/battery-bank, hot water via solar thermal and a Rayburn fuelled from our own sustainably-managed woodland. There is a brand new 13m long south-facing patio down the length of the barn with a great view! Gas-barbecue provided. And the adjacent space can provide camping (for children perhaps?) with its own toilet adjacent – for a small extra charge. No strangers share the accommodation with you; it's just you – even if you only need 1 bedroom, , with us living through the dining-link. We charge an additional £5/night/bedroom from 15th October – 15th April, which we ask you to pay to us on arrival. Camping is £5/person/night (bring your own tent, but we have camp bds) Bought as little more than a pile of stones in 2005, we (Sandy & Stephen Waldron) finally moved into these C18th barns in 2014 after years of self-building. We have our own ancient lime kiln in our woodland, along with the original stone quarry. There is a gas-fired barbecue you may use on your own private, south-facing patio. Free to use – if you clean it upon leaving; £10 charge if we have to! We seem to be popular with cyclists. We are close to BikePark Wales, the best mountain cycling course in Europe ((URL HIDDEN), just outside Merthyr Tydfil) about 20 minutes away by car. The country roads here are ideal for cyclists with little traffic and great climbs! We also have a lockable shipping container for bikes, although everything here is very safe. We have never had anyone trespassing on our land or any attempted break in, although we are very secure anyway. Local farmers keep a close look-out for anything unusual in a village like ours! The kitchen/snug is compact, which is why we encourage guests to use the large glazed link for meals when we are not using it. We eat in our self-contained barn unless we have guests. For parties of more than two we try to keep it free for their use, unless they are eating out. (This is the only large dining space for the entire barn complex). The kitchenette doesn't have an oven; it has two gas hobs and a microwave. There is a fridge and also a coffee-maker. We allow you to use our washing machine for a small fee; £2.50/wash.
Sheep farming countryside, set deep in the Brecons in the village of Ystradfellte. The village is well known for its range of waterfalls and cave networks and is at the heart of what is called 'Waterfall Country'. There are standing stones and ancient settlements. And of course great walks which we can tell you about. We provide a handbook we have put together telling you about the barn and local information and Ordnance Surveys maps of the area. Many cyclists stay here since it is well-known for its challenging, breathtaking (literally) routes and we are not far from the superb BikePark Wales in Merthyr.

  • We only met Steven, who was very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was cosy and warm (we especially liked the underfloor heating! Clean and tidy, quirky little place, perfect for a couple with two kids. Suited us just fine for the weekend we stayed. We did manage to get lost twice returning to the farm, but that was our own fault for being rubbish navigators. If you follow the instructions they send you, you’ll get there fine, like we did on the first night. The treehouse is nearing completion, I’d be interested to see that when it’s finished.

  • Great location as the train station is a short walk away (prepare yourself for the hill!) Merthyr Tydfil is a great little town and if you fancy going into Cardiff by train it’s a beautiful hours journey on the train. James is a great host and makes you feel comfortable instantly. Lovely little welsh cakes and the room was gorgeous. Love the unique heater of the room, took us a while to figure out the source of the heat. Although the listing states no television or WiFi, the apartment actually has both. There are also lots of leaflets of things to do in the surrounding area. Cute little kitchen, perfect for easy meals, comes with two hobs. Can’t wait to return! Thank you James.

The Cyclists and Walkers Scheme does just that. It lets you know that you will be looked after well, that we have everything you need and that we won’t tell you off for wearing muddy boots. The cottage overlooks Ponsticill Reservoir and has fantastic views of valley. Pen y Fan is close by and can be seen from the bridge entrance to the site.
  • Before our stay we were emailed to let us know that despite snow, campsite was still open and gave good detailed arrival instructions ( we arrived very late). Beautiful place, off the beaten track, host was great at communication, made the whole thing easy for us

  • Amaizing house: - as a location : 20 min by car from the waterfall eco pathways in the mountain. 60 min by car from the breathtaking Rhossili Bay beach. 50 min from Swansea and Mumbles, the southern coast of Wales. 1 min by car to the Turkish and Chinese takaway :). - Inside is clean and very well furnished, with everything we needed- towels, hairdryer... - Backyard with a view, where you can have your morning coffee. Andrew gave us very simple and accurate instructions about the places we must see in the region. I am more than pleased, and my family enjoyed every minute of our stay in Wales. Highly reccomend this house and the hospitable host, who meet us with a box of chokolates and fresh milk. Thank you, Andrew!

Certainly comfier than some of the other bnbs in the local area though. Overall a fantastic weekend, will definitely be back

  • The house looked as clean and well taken care of as the photos! It seemed very recently renovated and everything was clean and well decorated. Shannon was an amazing host and the guest guide she provided with all the local attractions was super helpful. We would definitely go back, preferably in the summer so we can enjoy the garden as well!
