  • A home from home experience, where nothing is too much trouble. Amazing hosts, lovely people

  • Great English BnB. Prompt communication for the booking, friendly welcome when I got there, lovely room, spotless, and the bathroom was superb. Breakfast was lovely, Ken said I could have any variation on breakfast, but the full English was what I wanted anyway, fresh fruit and a variety of cereals, fresh coffee, everything I needed in a homely atmosphere. In fact, everything I would hope for at an English BnB. Thank you Ken and Sylvia!

  • Ken & Sylvia were great hosts. The accommodation was very clean. Great value for money.

  • A home from home. Very relaxing and Ken's food was excellent. A true lovely couple who couldn't of done any more to make you feel at home.

  • Ken and Sylvia made us welcome from the moment we arrived. It felt like a home from home. We had a great breakfast. The beds were large and comfortable. Ken offered and gave us help with getting to the nearby wedding we attended. We also shared a drink and some life stories. Lovely!

    Dave2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • It is always a delight to stay at Lilycroft, the welcome is warm, the hosts are a delight and it is alway spotlessly clean.

    Phil2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a real gem of an Air B&B with Ken & Sylvia the most amazing hosts. The accommodation is all ‘upstairs’ comprising of 2 double bedrooms, with one room having the en suite in it (which is shared by both rooms). The beds are super comfy, everywhere scrupulously clean with the bathroom having a great shower (no bath). Lots of thoughtful touches: tea & coffee making facilities in the space between the 2 bedrooms; bottles of water; toiletries in the bathroom should one forget anything of one’s own. Evening meals were an option for a very nominal additional charge. The food was home cooked by Ken and on both evenings they ate with us, making us feel like we were part of the family. Amazing! This is one of the best AirB&B ever....one not to be missed!

  • My favourite air bnb experience so far. Everything was spot on with the lodge - really warm, lovely high quality furnishings, comfy and huge sofa, great kitchen and wonderful bed. Amazing views of countryside all around the living room and all mod cons. I could live there! Feels very private and the dogs were a joy too - really friendly and soft. Second to none hospitality - we were brought fresh farm eggs and had a lovely morning seeing lambs born just that morning and chatting to Chris about the farm. Paula was very quick with responding to any questions about the booking and check in was easy and smooth. We had a great walk to Hardwick Hall, Paula was so helpful with directions. Loads of walks and runs in the area and Hardwick Inn is a great pub for lunch and beers post walk. This is such a top spot for a weekend break, you can just stay in the lodge and cook or get a takeaway! A lovely family and a lovely spot - an experience that reminds you how great Airbnb is to have genuine experiences. Thank you!

  • Lovely setting, perfect for a couple of days to chillout and relax. Will be back in summer when we can sit on the little deck with the fire pit

    Sinead2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic little retreat! I went for a weekend away and a breather and couldn’t be more pleased. The cabin is immaculate and well presented, lovely and warm with a great little kitchen and soft furnishings. Even though it was a rainy weekend it was still beautiful to sit and relax, especially with the family dogs popping on to the deck to say hello and sunbathe (when the sun did come out). Paula was very welcoming but also we were able to relax and unwind. There was lots of walks around if that is your jam but great for a simple cuddle up and read weekend too. I definitely will be coming back for a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.

    Alex2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

  • We had a lovely 2 night stay in this stylish property, newly done up with all the amenities required. We even managed to have some eggs for breakfast that were produced on the farm. Definitely recommend

    Alice2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The annex is absolutely stunning, spotless and so incredibly peaceful. The bed is incredibly comfy, the room has lovely, thoughtful touches such as milk in the fridge, condiments in cupboards which one didn't expect. Lounging in front of the fire in such a private space was wonderful. The power shower is brilliant, and once again the bathroom had little touches such as shower gel etc. Bought some eggs too! I can't recommend this place enough.

  • This cottage is a home from home. It's ideally placed for walking, and cycling the 5 pits trail, which is literally at the side of the cottage. Tibshelf is nicely placed giving access to lots of other areas to explore too. We had a shopping trip on the way home at the East Midlands designer outlet, which is a 10 minute drive away. We also had a trip to Bakewell, which was only 40 minutes away. You don't have to go anywhere if you don't want to, as there are plenty of trails to discover. A large co-op supermarket too to resupply if needed. Jennie gave us lots of good tips, and was there if we needed anything at all. The hot tub was the icing on the cake, which we used daily. Thanks for a great stay Jennie.

    Melanie2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Jennie was very helpful with all aspects of this booking. The house is very clean, modern and situated in a great spot for local shops and cycle routes. The kitchen was immaculate and had a warm feel about it and the wood burner added an extra touch at night. The kids loved the hot tub and was a great way to relax after a busy day out. I could write so many good things but please book and see for yourself. Will def look at dates to book again. Thank you

And we loved the hot tub! Warm and very comfortable cottage, comfy beds! Would def recommend x

  • Helen is a great host, will do anything for you and wants to ensure that you have everything you need to enjoy your stay. The cottage has everything you need (home from home) and lovely and warm on the cold winter days. I would think the garden would be a great place to be in the summer, we may have to return. We stayed for work however, can see why people would chose it for a holiday as it has some great local amenities and places to visit. Thanks Helen for everything. Paula, Alan and Charlie

    Alice2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This property was fantastic. It was great value and a perfect getaway spot. We were worried about being cold but with the blankets, heaters and hot water bottles we were absolutely fine. The location is lovely and I would definitely stay here again.

    Katie2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really lovely stay, Janet was very helpful and accommodating. The weather was extremely cold but we kept warm with the heater provided and hot water bottles, it was very cosy :) The space is very unique and in a great location, we will definitely be booking again in summer. The only thing I would say is to bring bottled water as the tap water had a bit of a strange smell and the boiler didn’t stay hot for very long. These points aside we were very happy with our stay and will definitely be back! Thanks again :)

    Nicola2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my two teenage kids had a great couple of nights here. Everything is as described on air b and b. Communication is good. Would recommend to anyone. Beautiful deck facing the sunrise.

    Bob2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic tent, lovely location. The setting very peaceful. The weather was a bit mischievous! I do like to feel warm and the tent is a large space to keep warm, so just a word of caution if you don’t like the cold! Hopefully the new wiring will help with that x Lovely to be able to have my dog with me, a lot of tents/huts don’t allow that. Boris was very welcoming x Janet and Bernie were close enough to know they’re on hand if required, but also private and not imposing. Would love to revisit when the weather is better! Thank you x

    Gemma2019-11-08T00:00:00Z

  • Amazing! Such a gorgeous little place. We went for my partners birthday with our 11 week old baby and Janet couldn’t be more accommodating . It’s October so it was cold but there were beautiful blankets, hot water bottles and a heater on the ready. It’s such a lovely place, extremely clean with everything you need. Beautiful views and surrounding areas. Definitely want to go back in the summer! Would highly recommend for families, couples or a girls weekend x

  • Great little private space albeit on the same grounds as the owners with everything you need for a short stay isnide. Loads of parking which was very handy for a trip with colleagues. Would happily stay here again. Nothing to fault.

  • What a wonderful place. I got some of the best sleep I’ve had in awhile. It was great to wake up with birds chirping and a wonderful backyard. It is clean and cozy with everything you would need to stay. Very comfortable and relaxing.

  • Wendy’s place was excellent. Although it’s in the same grounds as her home, we felt private and separate. Everything we needed was available and the place was very clean. We would love to stay again in the warmer months and take advantage of exploring the local area.

  • Wendy’s place is lovely. It’s fabulous for exploring the Peak District and so close to Chesterfield and other amenities. The space is nice, very cosy and the log burner is a nice touch. Wendy and Chris are lovely hosts and would definitely stay there again when up visiting the Peaks. Many thanks indeed!

    Si2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our New Year’s Eve stay at Wendy & Chris’s accommodation was just wonderful. Close to the Peak District for lots of exploring & hiking, plus it’s kitted our extremely well - we really appreciated the full kitchen so we could cook a meal as opposed to microwaving one! Wendy was brilliant at messaging us, & was very accommodating when she knew we’d be arriving quite late into the night. The milk in the fridge on arrival was a nice touch (we were in desperate need of a hot drink), as were all the Christmas decorations! Everything’s as described, & we would love to visit again soon.

  • Our second trip staying here after we had to cut our last trip short due to our car breaking down. Dominic and Jane were so accommodating to us and our two dogs. The garden is perfect for the dogs to run around and Dominic and Jane are always on hand to give recommendations for walks and dog friendly places to eat. Would highly recommend Linacre woods/ reservoir and eating at the red lion and fox and goose in chesterfield. We’ll be back !

  • Amazing property with polite and caring hosts. A few small guestures made the stay extra special - thank you for the lemon cake!

    Abi2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is our best Air BnB experience so far. We can’t recommend this place enough! A very well designed studio that was immaculate and well stocked with some standard groceries but also some nice surprises! Dominic & Jane were excellent hosts and made the stay easy and enjoyable. The location is perfect: quiet and set between various walking routes but also close enough to main roads for easy access to shops etc. We wish we could have stayed longer.

  • Gorgeous studio in a wonderful rural location. We stayed for 2 nights with our dog and 3 month old. Dominic and Jane went the extra mile with the amazing Christmas decorations and homemade mince pies. The studio is very clean and has everything you would need for your stay. • Paul and Janet were excellent hosts. They were very warm, welcoming and accommodating. I booked several week days in their Ravens wing to stay while working locally because I needed a place that would take in my dog as well. They were happy to have her and even played with her during the day while I was at work. They showed me a beautiful morning walk I took every day. The apartment was sparkling clean and access to parking, the kitchen and garden made it feel very homey and convenient. I will definitely stay here again and highly recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the area.

  • We had a very relaxing stay at Ford Farm. Sarah was a great host and the location is beautiful. If you want to spend a few days escaping from reality this is the perfect location to do so. Lots to do nearby and beautiful walks on your doorstep.

    Lisa2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very comfortable and pleasant stay. The location, with a nice outlook over the Ogston Reservoir, and the accommodation, turned out to be more or less perfect for a couple looking for a quiet break. The approach road is as described - narrow with numerous potholes - but the locals seem to be friendly and cautious. There is plenty of parking available when you get there. Two people will find the place very comfortable - three would need to be good friends, since access to the toilet and shower room is via the bedroom. Sarah was very friendly and efficient.

  • I was greeted by a nice mug of tea, which was much appreciated after a long journey to Kat's house. However, with two dogs and three cats, you can be sure of a warm and enthusiastic welcome whenever you return to the house. I was visiting for a week's walking holiday, and really appreciated Kat's advice about possible places to go. The kitchen was a little small, with a two-ring cooker, but then many guests do not aim to self-cater. The location was good -- on the edge of town, with fields stretching away on one side, but a number of shops and takeaways within walking distance. I very much enjoyed the relaxed easy-going atmosphere.

Briar Cottage is a great location being close to both Matlock and Chesterfield. The cottage was originally a barn and nestles in the hill side overlooking beautiful countryside. The village of Alton is right on the edge of the Peak District, with a working cattle farm at its heart. We have a small dog, Bea a cat called Tilly and chickens who provide fresh and tasty eggs for breakfast. The cottage is full of charm and character providing an atmosphere of peace & tranquillity.
Space You are welcome to join my daughter and I in our cosy bright cottage. We have a single room which has the use of the family bathroom and a double room with a king sized bed and its own en suite wet room. The gardens here are beautiful and you could not ask for a more wonderful setting to relax and take some time out. Briar Cottage is located in the small hamlet of Alton about 7 miles from Chesterfield and Matlock. There are numerous pubs and restaurants close by and the Peak District is 10 minutes away by car. If you feel more energetic it is easy to walk from the cottage & explore the local countryside.
As we are in a rural location this is a great place to relax and leave your busy life behind for a while. There are lots of lovely walks straight from the cottage. Our tiny hamlet does not support any local taverns, the nearest pubs & restaurants are about 5 minutes by car away or 30 minutes walk on a light summer evening. Chatsworth House, Haddon and Hardwick Hall are between 15 and 20 minutes away. There are great farmer's markets to visit in nearby villages along with Well Dressings and open garden weekends in the summer.

  • It is a wonderful place. Hope is the perfect host giving you time to be alone and yet ready for conversation and travel tips. It is a great jumping off point for local sites and experiences. The cottage is also a healing space. Hope keeps the cottage and garden cleansed in every way. I have left feeling refreshed and rejuvinated. Far more from a short stay than I expected.

  • It was a thrill to stay in such pretty cottage where the owner cares about her home garden and animals. It is off the beaten track yet not far from some of the must see places in the Dales.I would highly recommend particularly if you are a female travelling on your own.

  • Hope’s cottage is cosy and peaceful. I felt right at home! Hope makes delicious home-made bread, which I enjoyed with jam for breakfast. Hope is very friendly and easy to talk to, I have also made good friends with Tilly and Bea. Whilst working in Chesterfield Hope made sure I had everything I needed to work comfortably. We took it in turns to cook for one another during the evening and I was able to cosy up in front of the fire and enjoy a movie with her one night. I’ve had a lovely time in Hope’s company.

If you have dogs it’s great as there are footpaths from the lodge that go across many fenced in fields. Also you can have use of the owners paddock. Owners are very welcoming and are on hand if needed. Would definitely stay again.

  • Ned's Lodge is a wonderful getaway, particularly if you have dogs who have a safe and secure place to be free and run. The facilities were beautifully clean and everything was provided to make a comfortable environment. Highly recommended and with such a great host as Helen, we hope to return again. Thank you.

Cosy cottage in a peaceful rural setting with fabulous views. Popular with couples and small families and well-located for visiting Chatsworth House and Hardwick Hall. Open log fire and WiFi. Great walks from the doorstep. One pet welcome. Parking for two cars.
Foxglove Cottage is a semi-detched stone cottage in the tranquil farming hamlet of Alton, part of the award-winning parish of Ashover. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, a double and a twin, sleeping a maximum of four people. There is also a bathroom with a bath, hand-basin, WC and shower over the bath. On the ground floor there is a small sitting room with an open log fire and a kitchen/diner with access to the cellar. The kitchen has an electric hob and built-in oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and washing machine. There is also a tumble-dryer and a freezer in the cellar. Outside there is a private garden with a patio, garden furniture and BBQ. There are views over open fields from the garden. Please note that there are 7 steps to the main garden area. The price includes all bedding, towels, central heating, power and WiFi plus an initial supply of coal and logs for the open fire. We can supply you with a travel cot and a high-chair on request. We do not charge extra if you wish to bring a pet. Please note that the garden immediately adjacent to the front of the cottage isn't enclosed but there is a small enclosed area outside the back door.
The farming hamlet of Alton is too small for a pub or shops but you'll find all of these in the larger village of Ashover a mile away. There are three excellent pubs, The Crispin, The Black Swan and Poets Corner and they all serve food. There is also a butcher and general store, a post office and a cake shop. Alton itself is a peaceful place with fabulous views and a local landmark, The Fabrick Rock, from which you can gaze out over five English counties. Explore the protected heathland, take a picnic and soak up the views. The whole area is criss-crossed with footpaths and offers excellent walking opportunities. One of the many local paths goes right past Foxglove Cottage so you really can walk straight from the doorstep.
  • Great location for local walks and fantastic views. The kids enjoyed exploring the track and visiting the horses. The cottage has everything you need and lots of information to make your stay as easy as possible.

The beds are really comfortable and with lovely bed linen and the host provides a lot of extra thoughtful touches like tea and coffee and milk when you arrive. The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of cutlery, plates etc. Susan is really friendly too.

  • This cottage was an excellent and superb place to stay in the Derbyshire Dales / Peak District area with a reasonable distance to Chatsworth and the numerous walking trails. We really enjoyed the amenities and the abilities to cook full meals. The place has everything you’d ever need. The host was very helpful and we enjoyed our stay!

Thank you for stopping by and viewing our lovely Victorian Villa. The Clarendon is situated right in the heart of Chesterfield, just a stones throw away from the Greek inspired Town Hall, medieval market and, of course not forgetting the famous crooked Spire! Alongside the local attractions, the Derbyshire Dales and peak District are only minutes away. The close proximity to the coach, bus and railway stations make the Clarendon a great choice, whether you are here on business or pleasure.
The Clarendon is a former Victorian Guest House and retains many of the features from this era. In the recent transformation, We have carefully added special touches - the lounge has a lovely chandelier and William Morris wallpaper. On the outside, please enjoy the rear garden which has many feature plants and lawned area.
Clarence Road is based in West Bars. The road has a mix of houses from late victorian to Edwardian. The top of the road is home to various professional practices who appreciate the centrally based up-market feel of the area.

  • Beautiful house with charm. It is located in a great location very close to the centre of Chesterfield making everything needed accessible. The room was a good size room with an en-suite. Nick was lovely and was always quick to respond to any questions I had. Overall it was a great stay that I would highly recommend.

    Jessica2019-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed in Room 5, which unexpectedly (to me), had a bathroom en-suite. Nick sent me detailed instructions on how to get in. Only issue I had was that it took awhile to get the water in the shower going as I've never seen the setup where you have to pull the corded ceiling isolator switch on the far side of the bathroom beforehand (the cord hanging near the shower just turns on the light). The bed...love and hate: I'm 1.89m tall so my feet tend to stick out the bottom of the bed, and some like this one has the raised footboard so you need to spreads fit to either side. That being said, the mattress is the best I've laid down on in the last year. Location is great, as I was meeting in West Bars. It's little more than a five minute walk into the town centre.

    Carlos2019-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is ideal. Basic, but comfortable. Clean and quiet. Just a few minutes walk into town. Nick, the host, is super accommodating, helpful and quick to respond to queries. They even upgraded me to a room with a private bathroom, so thanks for that. Rest assured if you are arriving here late or need somebody who is extra accommodating, this is the place for you!

Our stay in the apartment was just what we needed. It is a lovely space and plenty of it for two and a four-pawed pal. We were very comfortable indeed and the kitchen / dining space is excellent and well equipped. We hope to stay again in the future and would highly recommend this to you.

Our home is in the Village of Doe Lea, Chesterfield and close to j29 of the M1. Nice & peaceful. We are adjacent to the beautiful Hardwick Hall estate and Bolsover Castle is visible from the guest bedroom window. We are 6 miles to the Market town centre of Chesterfield with its famous crooked spire. Please see "Getting around" for travelling distances from our house.
We've lived in our property since 2013 with our friendly cat, Stripey. It is at the end of a terrace three storey townhouse. It is nice and spacious with the guest bedroom and bathroom on the top floor.
Our house is located on an enclosed estate which has a very active neighbourhood watch. Residents are friendly and very welcoming. The village of Heath is a 20 min walk away which has a lovely pub; the Elm Tree.
  • I stayed in Modupe’s place 1 night. It is conveniently located near motorway. A bedroom was quite, clean and spacious, a bed was big and comfortable. Bathroom was very clean. Modupe was helpfull and flexible. Overall, I had good experience and recommend this place to everyone.

The house is spotless throughout and Stripey their little cat is an extra delight. The bedroom is large and peaceful. A great bed and pillows/duvet gave me the best sleep. The bathroom is yours during your stay and again beautifully clean. It has a hand held shower attached to the bath. There was use of ironing facilities in an adjacent room if needed. Its a great air bandb and wont disappoint.

The Retreat...on Butts Road is a thoughtfully converted, upside-down, end-of-terrace holiday cottage which has a traditional feel to it and both the living room and bedroom have a Juliet balcony with views over the Amber Valley. The Retreat was fully renovated in early 2013 and released as a holiday cottage in May of that year by the owners who live next door at Prestwood. Sat in the centre of the beautiful conservation village of Ashover with an award-winning CAMRA pub just 150yrds away. One of the prettiest villages in Derbyshire, with a 15th Century Church, Ashover won the Calor Village of the Year competition in 2005. It has been said that the village is home to a couple of ghosts, including the Laughing Cavalier who haunts the Black Swan, and that arrows for the Battle of Agincourt were made here! The village was important to the lead mining and quarrying industries and was also home to the stocking frame knitting industries, but little of that remains. Today, Ashover is valued for the beautiful countryside that surrounds it and better known for the Ashover Show in August and the Ashover Festival in September.
  • The 'Retreat' is a great place to stay, with stunning views from the upstairs lounge/kitchen. Interior is lovely and feels very homely, with lovely little touches that create the retreat experience. We were very impressed and loved looking at the photo book Ian left. It makes you appreciate the stay very much. Great amenities, very prompt responses and lovely little touches made our stay a perfect one! Thanks again Ian and Elaine! We highly recommend this cosy cottage! Xx

  • Ian and Eileen's cottage is absolutely lovely and the perfect space for 2. It was extremely clean and the kitchen was kitted out with everything you might need to prepare meals in the cottage. The cottage is a very short walk away from a few pubs and the village itself is quiet and picturesque. Ian left us plenty of information about local sights to visit and hikes around the area. We would love to stay again!

  • Ian’s place is fantastic! Located in a beautiful quaint village with many walks nearby and on the doorstep to the Peaks. Fantastic cycling and hiking to be had. I worked from the airbnb and require a fast internet connection and the Cottage has just that. Ian went beyond his way to make sure everything went smoothly and I will definitely be returning.

  • A truly fantastic stay. Ian was a fantastic host, it was my girlfriends surprise present and we arrived at the lodge to a welcome pack , as well as a bottle of bubbly and a birthday card - a lovely touch. The cottage was lovely. Everything was clean, worked well and easy to use. The views outside the house were amazing. There was a book of tips that we found really helpful , with help for walks , supermarkets etc. We had a nice beer at the local pub, and ventured to the Ladybower reservoir , and Ashford in the Water. We can’t thank Ian enough for his great hospitality, the cleanliness of the cottage and all the tips. Was a great trip and we will definitely be returning.

  • Wonderful cottage, great location and fantastic host! We had a great weekend in Ashover. The cottage was sparkling clean with an amazing countryside view. Printed instructions for local walks were provided, of which we did two and we went to Chatsworth House for a day, highly recommended. The property had some lovely touches; a welcome food pack was provided, board games and DVDs as well as a folder full of local activity recommendations. We went to two of the local pubs, both lovely. Can’t thank Ian enough, hopefully will get to come back in the future!

Very pleasant, stylish private self contained ensuite bedroom and separate breakfast area located on the outskirts of Ashover. Guests have their own key to their own entrance into the breakfast area where continental breakfast items are replenished daily. The breakfast area has a sofa, a table-top drinks fridge, kettle and toaster, a door leads to an ensuite bedroom which has a comfy king size bed, dressing table, tv and wifi. It is an excellent base from which to explore the Peak District.
Our Airbnb has truly spectacular views and lovely walks straight from the door. It is in a beautiful rural location, very peaceful and quiet and conducive to getting a good night's sleep. Ashover Rock is a 10 minute walk away and you can see five counties from there - it is 360 degree panoramic view. There are three pubs in Ashover which I believe are walkable but I am fairly sure you wouldn't fancy the walk back! But you could always get a taxi back if you wanted. There are also options for takeaway and delivery meals which are detailed in the information pack in the room. We provide plates and cutlery and wash up on daily basis.
Ashover Rock is a 10 minute walk from the property. You can see five counties on a clear day! The views are absolutely stunning. Ashover is a 20-25 minute walk where there are three pubs, a Post Office/Coffee shop and a Butchers. It is a steep hill to walk back so it is quite challenging but good for your fitness😃. I must admit I have renamed Far Hill Oxygen Hill but I like the challenge!

Ashover village is close by with pubs and a village shop. Liz welcomed us and was available if needed. Great value and we will stay again if we come back to the area.

We live in a characterful four hundred year old farmhouse situated on a hill top on the edge of the Peak District. We are in a quiet location with spectacular countryside views. In addition, we are only five to ten minutes easy walk downhill to the delightful village of Ashover, with all amenities, including pubs and cafes. The property enjoys walking trails right from the front door along quiet county lanes and fields. We pride ourselves on offering guests a very warm welcome.
Guests may have full use of the kitchen to make their own meals, drinks and snacks. We do provide a free continental breakfast. Guests may use the laundry room and downstairs toilet. There is a lovely garden with patio and table at the back of the house and also a small table and a bench in the front garden. We welcome guests to use these spaces. Sitting outside with a coffee and admiring the views, whilst soaking in the peace and quiet is one of our favourite things to do!
We are set in stunning scenery, on the edge of a delightful village. We are very proud of the fact that our village won the Calor Gas Community village of the year award in 2005. This is reflected in the friendly, warm and active village in which we live.

Cosy self-contained cottage adjoining Grade II listed 18th Century Farmhouse. Situated on a hill top above the picturesque village of Ashover at the edge of the Peak District National Park, Sheeplea Cottage is a perfect bolt-hole for visitors who wish to explore the area from a quiet, private space where they can come and go as they please.
Whilst the cottage adjoins the main farm house it is completely self-contained with its own private parking space and entrance doorway. Although the farm is no longer working, the surrounding fields are owned by us and are available for guests to wander at their leisure. A basic continental breakfast is included in the price.
The cottage is located within a scenic area on the edge of the Derbyshire Peak District, about one mile from the picturesque village of Ashover. The area is well known for great walking and cycling opportunities, with many routes starting from the doorstep. Feel free to browse the selection of suggested route ideas and walking books in the cottage, or ask us for ideas. Secure cycle storage is available within one of the Farm outbuildings. The market town of Bakewell is within a 20 minute drive, whilst both the Spa town of Matlock and the historic town of Chesterfield (with its famous Crooked Spire) are a mere 10 minutes away. Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall and Bolsover Castle are all within a 20 minute drive. There are many good pubs serving food in and around the village of Ashover - we can usually provide free transport if you are fancying that extra drink!

  • We had a perfect stay, and the cottage was everything you could ask for and more in a weekend getaway. Jan and Chris were friendly and welcoming without being at all intrusive. The cottage was immaculate and very comfortable, and lovely personal touches made it feel like a home. The breakfast food provided was spot on and lasted us for the 3 mornings. It's also perfectly situated for reaching various parts of the Peak District in well under an hour. Overall lovely hosts, perfect accomodation and fantastic value. Thank you!

  • This is a lovely cosy little cottage ideally placed for many day trips and hiking. Lots of thoughtful touches, maps, local tips plus a very generous ’breakfast tray’. Worth every penny and Jan and her husband couldn’t have been more thoughtful and kind. Many thanks!!
