Places to stay in Paeroa

Places to stay in Paeroa
Modern cabin with private garden and separate entrance at side of my Railway Cottage (Central PAEROA, New Zealand). Ideal for two with continental breakfast and snacks. Off street parking and cycle storage. Nice interior with kitchenette and bathroom. Quality linen. Wifi. Large flat screen TV. Very clean and comfortable and in the perfect central location for The Hauraki Rail Trail or using as a base to explore The Coromandel and surrounding scenic areas.
This cabin is the perfect get-a-away as it's right in central PAEROA and within walking distance to shops, cafes and all that Paeroa has to offer. Perfect base for cycling The Hauraki Rail Trail. If you are spending a few days here you will have plenty of time to visit Te Aroha (Spa Town), Waihi and Thames (Gold Mining Towns) plus, you are at the gateway to the scenic Coromandel.
Paeroa is the Antique Town of New Zealand with interesting vintage and antiques shops to explore. Check out where the locals eat at The Refinery Cafe and The Courtyard Cafe. The Falls Bistro & Restaurant is a secret I can't keep as the food and setting is amazing! The perfect place for brunch or dinner. The Hauraki Rail Trail is the one of New Zealand's most accessible cycle trails with Paeroa being the perfect base. Close to Hamilton, Auckland and Tauranga it's the perfect couple of days or weekend away. The temperate climate on the Coromandel Peninsula and the Hauraki Plains provides a great all-year round riding experience. The trail has some of the best scenery in New Zealand and includes riding through the stunning Karangahake Gorge, one of the "14 wonders of New Zealand”. The trail follows the path of two historic railway lines, running from Paeroa through Waikino to Waihi. Plus there's the Thames, Te Aroha and Kaiaua rides.
  • We had a very homely stay and had everything we needed and so much more! The unit is beautiful and was absolutely spotless. With all the personal touches and the in person commentary on must sees and must do's, it is easy to see why Kerrie has superhost status. We loved our stay!

  • We really enjoyed the peaceful quiet spot up in gorge. There is stove top, bbq and microwave but no oven. The hosts were very accomodating and willing to help us enjoy our time here anyway they could. Off road parking with a 30m flat walk to the cabin.

    Chris2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place, very well located for all the walks in the area. The interior was cute and well matched and it was probably the best equipped little place we’ve been to. We took our 23 month old and it was appropriate for him too. The place would be well suited for someone who struggled with mobility too. We’d visit again if coming back to the Gorge!

    Katharina2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • A great place in a very peaceful setting. Our needs were well catered for and the extra touch of homemade pikelets was much appreciated.

  • Cute cottage in fabulous location to lovely walks in the gorge. Everything you need there for a cosy stay

    Paul2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is a clean, spacious, updated three bedroom home that has a classic yesteryear vibe, and a well equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge, nice yard, and soothing hot tub.   There is convenient off street parking with an easy walk to the gorge.  The wifi was a bit spotty and slow at times, but the hosts advised us they are having the equipment updated shortly.  The AirBNB descriptions and photos are accurate. We enjoyed our stay and would return again.

    Paul2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Mike and Lesley's place was nice and cosy, and very clean. It was a delight to stay there. Their responses were also always prompt.

    Justine2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic cottage! Homely and historic but with all the mod cons. Spotlessly clean too. A great location for walks, cycling, cafe etc. Convenient distance from 2 townships. Recommending it to all our family and friends.

    Tracey2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a truly special place. I came with my wife and we both loved the quaint little cottage. The gardens were spectacular and the hot tub was so relaxing after many hours hiking. Mike and Lesley provide many suggestions for the area. The kitchen was well stocked and the house had lovely touches. Very quiet at night and the bed was so comfortable it was amazing. The shower was also great. Close to town for any needs. I highly recommend The Falls Retreat restaurant for a special meal and Royal Flavours Indian in the nearby town (on a side street) was amazing.

Nothing fancy - just a double room (queen size bed) and use of a shared bathroom (shower over bath) in a small family home. What we love about our house is that you can see the Coromandel Range from the side deck, and it's just a few minutes' walk from the supermarket, Paeroa's famous antique shops, State Highways 2 and 26, and the Hauraki Rail Trail. We love meeting people from all different places, and our little brown hens are waiting to lay a nice egg for your breakfast.

A private self contained cottage set in the grounds of the historic Gold Refinery building. Light filled and comfortable with retro inspired decor. In the heart of Paeroa; the 'antiques town' of NZ.
The historic Gold Refinery building is a unique and charming setting for your stay. Ivy covered walls, gallery like space and mid century inspired cafe all set in park like grounds laden with fruit trees. The cottage is light and spacious. The kitchen and bathroom are basic but comfortable and well equipped. Cute retro furniture, NZ books and pottery.
Paeroa is the town in the centre of everything! Fantastic antique shops, easy access to the Hauraki Rail Trail, beautiful Waihi beach, Tauranga and the Karangahake Gorge. Just 1 1/2 hours from Auckland. Our property is right in town-2 minutes walk to all amenities.
  • The Cottage is delightful with interesting memorabilia creating a homely feel. We enjoyed the private outdoor area too. Nicky is a great host providing a delicious afternoon tea and giving us advice about where to have an evening meal. We can recommend her cafe for breakfast. This is an ideal stopover for the Hauraki Rail Trail bike ride.

Paeroa is the place..girls weekend away..bike trail..bike racing..dinning out...walks...you name it ..this 100 year old bungalow with a rural feel is a great place to stay.
This 100 year old bungalow is a gem of a place. 2 large bedrooms with queen size beds plus a sun room with 2 single beds. This cute place is on a very large section with a rural outlook. It is so quiet and pieceful but only one street back from the hub of Paeroa. The 2 single beds in the sun room are really only suitable through the summer months. A bit too chilli out there between like May- Nov, but great in the summer months.
Only 4 houses down this dead end road...nice people but a good hundred yards away
  • Great location for riding the rail trail. And a fabulous old character house. Vivien was a great host, arranging easy check in even though she was away. Also really accommodating as our numbers changed at the last minute!

  • Well well well. Wot a superb offering of the essence of Paeroa. This may be a very old Villa, but it has just the right proportions, and modernisation, and thoughtful easy to deal with Hosts.

  • A wonderful host with a charming house and delightful garden.

  • This is a beautiful cottage to stay in, well located to be able to walk in to Paeroa, and within easy reach of the different starting points for The Hauraki Rail Trail bike rides. Vivien is a great host and has thought of everything that you could possibly need within the cottage. We loved sitting on the deck in the evening, enjoying the sun and Vivien's beautiful garden in the peace and quiet.

Located in the historic Karangahake Gorge, this bed and breakfast offers a vast array of experiences accessible from it’s superb location. The 2 acre tree lined property borders the Hauraki Cycle-way and has entry to a swimming hole on the Ohinemuri River. John is a sculptor and Julie is a florist and they work from their studios on the property. They have also both worked in the hospitality industry for many years and take great pleasure in helping guests to have the best stay possible.
Offering a perfect space on the top floor of the house for a couple looking to get away, or suitable for a small family/group of up to five. A perfect environment to wind down and rest on the sunny side of the river. A wooden spiral staircase leads guests to a two bedroom, one living and private bathroom space. The interiors are tastefully decorated and arranged. Inside a warm palette ties the interior together. A mixture of modern furniture and retro furnishings fill the two main living spaces. Ornaments, ephemera and sculptures are specifically curated to give the space a sense of homely warmth. The main living area opens up to a large outdoor dining space, a deck and spa which both have great views across the property and the lush gardens.
The property is in the heart of the Karangahake Gorge. A sharply winding canyon formed by the Ohinemuri River, that runs between the Coromandel and Kaimai ranges, at the southern end of the Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand's North Island. In this area there is a range of activities for those looking to enjoy the outdoors; The Hauraki Rail Trail Cycleway from Thames to Waihi borders the property. Explore the rocky terrain and rich mining history of Karangahake Gorge Historic Walkway, carved by the boulder-strewn Ohinemuri River. Hike or bike along the old railway line, inspect the remnants and ruins of the gold mining industry, and delve into some of the former railway and mining tunnels. Several old bridges span the foaming water, including a wire suspension bridge.

We walked, cycled and ran right from their beautiful backyard. Visited Waihi beach which is so close. We loved every minute. The garden is beautiful. Breakfast just yummy. Definitely put Te Punanga on your list of places to stay. So tranquil and so much to do in the area.

My place is close to parks, art and culture, historical goldmines. You’ll love my place because of the cosiness, the high ceiling, the location is near the beach and other places to visit along with lovely bush walks. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with kids). We've been hosting B & B guest since 1988.

Te Aroha is a small, historic and scenic town and is at the foot of Mt Te Aroha, which has many mountain biking and walking tracks. After a day of walking or biking the hills you can even relax in the heated thermal pools! Hobbiton is nearby as are cycle tracks, bush walks, great cafes in town, 20 minutes walk if you are so inclined. In our home we have a very comfortable queen bed available with own bathroom. • Wow--what a great spot. We desperately needed a peaceful escape from the city and wish we could have stayed longer. Everything is super clean and comfortable. We loved the hilly views and enjoyed watching the animals roam around. We also appreciated the surprise snacks waiting for us in the room. Can't fault anything--thanks for a wonderful stay. We hope to return in the near future!

  • Great wee cabin, perfect for couples. Very picturesque location, lots of birdsong, perfect backdrop for a soak in the huge bath. Neil knows the area well, and it's nice and close to Waihi and Paeroa, local walks are beautiful, and Owharoa falls is a special highlight. Well stocked brekkie supplies too!

    James2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful wee “home away from home” placed in amongst nature where you can truly take a moment to breathe.. from the moment we got there it was peacefully quiet with easy check in instructions. Wonderfully clean, incredible bed, amazing treats and as promised a double bath!! Our favourite part was getting to wake up and open the double doors which looked out onto nature and you could hear the birds singing. A much needed night away which exceeded our expectations. We will be back!

    James2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Phenomenal! Wish we could have stayed longer. The cozy cabin had everything we wanted, was squeaky clean, and was tastefully decorated. We loved the welcoming touches: salts for the bathtub, farm-fresh eggs and tomatoes right from the backyard, and local snacks. Great location close to a small winery and a beautiful waterfall that is great for a swim. Highly recommended!

    Ilya2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely gorgeous little guest house with beautiful, sweeping views of the property and surrounds. We enjoyed the thoughtful touches Neil left for us - the breakfast food, snacks and drinks left in the fridge - and waking to the sounds of bird song in the mornings. Thank you for a relaxing stay Neil.

    Andrew2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • We're so glad we chose to stay here! Neil's Airbnb is located on his beautiful lifestyle block/smallholding, so is best suited for people who don't mind waking up to the ducks foraging around on the grass outside. The chickens, ducks, guinea fowl, cows and horses gave us endless amusement to watch, either from the shady deck or even through the window from the brilliantly deep bath. For us, it was perfect- stunning views, in a rural location that is still well appointed for many of the fantastic local walks and nature spots (you WILL need a car if coming here, as with most of New Zealand). The building itself is very cleverly designed, allowing for sleeping, cooking and dining in the main space, with a short indoor/outdoor covered corridor to the wonderfully spacious and modern bathroom. A powerful shower, comfy bed and ability to make simple meals meant we were extremely comfortable, and everything was sparkling clean. Neil's place is a choice you will not regret!

Our 2 EcoPods are set amongst extensive gardens overlooking our Persimmon orchard and are close to nature walks, tramping, mountain biking tracks, safe swimming and surf beaches. Town centre with numerous cafes, restaurants and shops is only 8 minutes drive away. A great place as a base to tour the Coromandel e.g. Hot Water Beach is 45 minutes drive. You’ll love our place because of the comfy beds, peacefulness and typical Kiwi Hospitality. Please note the cost is $60.00 per person per night.
My husband Russell and I have lived at our property for 34 years. We invite you to share our piece of paradise with us. If you are a group of 4 travellers, see our other pod listed as Kauri View! Each pod has their own heater in case it is cold outside! We enjoy meeting travellers and offering genuine Kiwi hospitality. Our unique EcoPods have their own tea and coffee making facilities and guests will enjoy the comfort of their outdoor space. Persimmon season in our orchard runs from the end of May to July. Come and enjoy them!!
We live in a small valley that has farms, forestry, orchards and native bush reserves. Our property is bordered by a quiet meandering stream and has direct access to Coromandel Forest Park and the renowned Wentworth Valley Falls walk.
  • Lovely secluded spots overlooking an orchard. A very peaceful and relaxing place to stay. The hosts are very hospitable and kindly provided us with a lovely platter of homegrown produce. Very well presented accommodation and amenities.

  • What an extraordinary place!!! Maryann and Russell’s kindness and amazing hospitality, the cute little pod, the beautiful and soothing nature, the quiet, it was such a wonderful stay ♥️ The pod and the shared spaces are sparkling clean, very stylish and I felt at home instantly. This place will amaze you.

  • My partner and I had easily one of the best Air BnB experiences at Maryann and Russel's place. I planned a last minute getaway for my boyfriends birthday and they went above and beyond to make the weekend extra special. Given short notice about our stay, Maryann and Russel were very responsive and accommodating. The bungalow was cosy and the surrounding garden's provided a lovely spot to relax. A short drive from Whangamata, it was a great place to stay that enabled us to enjoy some piece and quiet whilst still having easy access to the beach and cafes :)

  • Often I find that ratings given on Airbnb are far too generous. In this case I would like to give 6 out of 5 for hospitality and attention! The shared facilities are great. Lovely shower and a good kitchen. Everything is spotless. Have a great time at there!!

  • A cute private little spot in quiet street with lots of thoughtful touches and details. We were encouraged to use the shaded patio with porch swing, bbq and friendly cat. There is a heat pump, which was very welcome in the 31 degree heat. Location was perfect for exploring Waihi and made for an incredibly refreshing stop. We would be keen to return.

  • Clean and tidy place with self check in, which is great for coming in late at night. It's quite spacious, but there are a few stairs to climb. Bed was comfortable and the shower was great. Cooking amenities as listed. Lots of parking. Close the windows before sunset to keep the bugs out (as it's next to farm land), otherwise really great!

A very safe, friendly neighbourhood. 2 minutes drive from town. A newly built cosy cabin with everything you could need provided. A relaxing, clean, tidy, private, affordable place to stay.

Parking right next to your room. It has a reasonable sized deck with a double hammock, BBQ, Unlimited wifi, fully fenced yard, beautiful gardens and is private from the main house, there is a OUTDOOR HOT WATER SHOWER that has great pressure, is very private, and comfortable.. shower under the stars!! It’s a very lovely thing to do!! And also there is only a CAMPING PORTA LOO.. which is out in the shower area.. THERE IS NO BATHROOM INSIDE THE CABIN..sorry!) Cottage offers a flat screen t.v on the wall, a chrome cast, unlimited WIFI, a fridge, fully functional kitchen, ect... ect...
Waihi is a beautiful, small rural town with a lot to offer!!! Its very close to beaches, rivers, bush walks, old mining ruins, museums etc. Waihi also has many amazing cafes/5*Restaurants and shops close by. Our neighbourhood has a gorgeous rural feel (Although its only a 2 minute drive to town). Lots of friendly neighbours, quite streets, trouble free and very safe area
  • Kylie and her family were absolutely amazing hosts, who went above and beyond with hospitality. A few hiccups with the tv and wifi but we weren’t too fussed at all. Only main hiccup was at checkin where she had forgotten to send the lock code but understandably flustered with a million things of her own to do. However she responded quite promptly to solve. I’d definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area but please note there are no bathroom facilities in the cabin which I didn’t initially read so my fault there. Had to pop down the road a few times to use public bathrooms especially early morning or late night for my little one.

    Amelia2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • We didn't sleep in the specified tiny house but in the garage extension, so I can't write anything about the room here. The room we had was equipped with a kitchen and living area and was awesome. Anyway, we really enjoyed our stay. Kylie is a very nice and courteous host. Gladly again.
