  • A great value rental located in a quiet village outside Petersfield. Communication with the owner was simple and efficient, check-in was straightforward, the accommodation itself was fresh, stylish and excellent value for money. The fact that dogs are welcome is a huge bonus and there is a dog proof garden. I would definitely recommend it!

  • We had a lovely stay in Froxfield, the accommodation was really nice and cosy with everything we needed, storage space was great too! Having your own private garden space is very helpful if you have a dog or want your own outdoor space, this was a huge bonus for us! It is very easy to find the airbnb with fantastic links into Petersfield as well as the surrounding bike trails and walking routes onto the South Downs. We highly recommend this place and it is perfect for anyone who likes to be outside.

My husband and I live in the house with our two young children. Our home backs onto the Watercress Steam Railway Line - train enthusiasts will love hearing the train pass and seeing the steam... Four Marks & Medstead Watercress station is just a 10mins walk from our home where you can see steam trains passing. Jane Austen’s home in Chawton is 5mins drive away. We are located on the edge of the South Downs 30/40mins from larger towns (Farnham, Basingstoke, Southampton and Winchester).
Our house is situated in rural Medstead village, on the edge of Four Marks village with easy access to the A31 Winchester Road. We are 5mins from Chawton village (the home of Jane Austen) & 10mins from Alton Market Town and station. We live in a newly built house, with open, quiet space to the front of our house and a large garden to the rear which is not overlooked. The room is a spacious double bedroom with a king bed plus an en-suite, looking out to the rear of the property towards the steam train line. Included in the room is a small convenience fridge, kettle with complimentary tea and coffee plus a hairdryer and a safe. WiFi is available for guests also. We also provide a basic ‘help yourself’ style breakfast which includes a selection of cereals and bread for toasting. We have local convenience shops within a 5minute walk plus a range of takeaway options for dinner. Guests are welcome to use or kitchen to eat dinner if they use the takeaway options. There are other dining options a short drive away.
We love living in this area, based in a rural location with a few small shops offering essentials close by. We are lucky to have a range of places to eat in the evening close by including a Curry, Chinese, Fish and Chips and Kebabs. There are also a range of restaurants and pubs within 10/20mins drive which are often recommended. There are a number of independent cafes within a short walk or a longer hike (depending on your preference) which are excellent. Some of these include Loaf, Garthowen Garden Centre Treetops Cafe & Nosh. An adjacent village, Chawton, was the home of the Author - Jane Austen. You can visit her home and garden. Chawton house is also open for visits. Central to the village is an old English pub and a tea room to offer a variety of refreshments. Selborne is a 20minute drive away, the old, quaint village of Gilbert White. Other local attractions include: Alice Holt (biking, running, walking trails including the Gruffalo and Zog trails) Birdworld Marwell zoo Winchester Science museum Lavender Fields Hattingley valley wines Lasham gliding Triple F Brewery with a bar (in walking distance 5mins) The area is a great stop off spot for commuters and we also have local businesses operating in the area, such as Blindingly Simple which offers courses for home furnishing (10 min walk).
  • Very near to Chawton so great for visitors looking for Jane Austen. A lovely room well appointed with tea making facilities and en suite.

  • We had a great stay at Lara's beautiful house. The room is very comfortable, cosy, and full of light. Everything is absolutely spotless! There's even a breakfast which is always a big bonus. Thank you Lara for the vegan milk and butter! Highly recommended.

    Greg2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Having never stayed in someone's home before as we generally book a suite or annex we were uncertain but Lara and her family were welcoming and lovely. The room is spotless and comfy, a continental breakfast was laid out for us to choose from. We would love to stay there again if we are that way. Definitely reccomend these hosts and there home.

  • Really nice place, thanks again

  • I needed a place close to Winchester for work, Lara’s place was just what I needed with a lovely en suite and plenty of extra amenities you wouldn’t necessarily expect (mini fridge, tea making facilities etc.) Nice quiet location, easy to get to from London. Would stay again!

A stylish converted barn set in the grounds of a Georgian Lodge within the South Downs National Park. Conveniently located close to the picturesque market towns of Alresford, Petersfield, Alton and historic Winchester, it is an ideal base to both explore Hampshire and kick back and relax in luxury.
Rustic luxury is the barn’s style; whitewashed timber walls, heated oak floors, industrial iron Nkuku lighting and furniture sit comfortably alongside crisp White Company linen, feather duvets and generous sized pillows. Relax and restore after an action packed day with Neal’s Yard toiletries and fluffy towels. Comfort is key. Ideal for couples, friends and solo travellers alike with the option of a super king or twin beds. A Nespresso coffee machine, toaster, kettle and fridge are all on hand. A complimentary breakfast of granola, yogurt, fruit, fresh bread and jam is on offer or a more substantial breakfast hamper is available at an additional cost on advance request. The Barn is equipped with the usual mod cons with TV, Chrome Cast, WIFI and Sonos Music System. There are Sweeping views from the bedroom french doors up the field where the majestic Redwood Tree and often Pheasants, Hare and Roe deer can be seen. You are free to explore North Lodge’s paddock to visit North Lodge’s chickens and there is a footpath off the property over fields from which you can walk to the famous “Pub with no Name” in just under an hour.
Petersfield, Alresford, Winchester & Alton all nearby. Within easy reach are Jane Austen’s house at Chawton (4 miles), Gilbert White’s House (6 miles), The Grange Opera at Northington and National Trust property Hinton Ampner. The pretty Georgian market town of Alresford is worthy of a visit for it’s wealth of independent shops, restaurants and cafes, as well as the Watercress train line, but it really comes into it’s own during May’s Watercress Festival. Historic Winchester is 15 miles from the Barn, which not only boasts one of the largest cathedrals in Europe but museums, theatres, art house cinemas, a diverse choice of bars and restaurants and fantastic shopping. Easy access to the New Forest, the Chichester Coast (West Witterings, Hayling Island), Goodwood, means there’s no shortage of things to do. If you enjoy walking or mountain biking you can join the 100 mile ancient South Downs Way at West Meon, Old Winchester Hill and find more stunning walks along Hangers Way heading towards Petersfield. There is a footpath off the property over fields from which you can walk to the famous “Pub with no Name” in just under an hour. Queen Elizabeth Country Park offers white knuckle mountain biking trails for the adrenalin seekers.
  • What a quaint and stylish place! Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area or people who would like a quiet weekend away from London!

  • This is a lovely spot. Great location. The barn is gorgeous and Emma and Sam’s attention to detail makes it just perfect. I’m going to miss the delicious breakfast spread, Sonos speakers and relaxing bath tomorrow in London... Thanks for a fab stay. Anna

  • Highly recommend - clean, beautiful design, thoughtful touches like the delicious breakfast & local area info. Really enjoyed dinner at The Thomas Lord pub. Thank you for a perfect stay!

    Kunle2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is the most stylish and best value Air BnB I have stayed in. It was the perfect location to chill out and unwind for the night. Emma was so welcoming and was really flexible with us even letting us check in a tiny bit early. We completely had our own space and felt like we were in the middle of nowhere - just what we wanted! The barn was spotlessly clean, so beautifully finished and Emma left some delicious cakes and stuff for breakfast. The Neals Yard toiletries were gorgeous and a nice touch! For dinner we went to The Pub With No Name. Would recommend for hearty pub meals - we had the fish pie and lamb hot pot. Both hit the spot! Already thinking about when we might be able to escape for some children free time to the Barn again. Thanks so much Emma.

  • This is a beautifully presented, superbly comfortable and spotlessly clean little barn. Emma is a superb hostess who has furnished it wonderfully and has included lots of thoughtful little extras which you will enjoy. The breakfast provided was delicious and we can thoroughly recommend this without hesitation. We also had a lovely meal at The Thomas Lord pub which is well worth a visit too.

  • Perfect little get away for a night or two. Pet friendly, lovely decor, amenities and touches. Would definitely stay again and recommend. Emma was very helpful.

    Bill2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful decor and a lovely feel to the place. Although small it felt very spacious and we had everything we needed for a comfortable night.

    Aideen2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time staying at the barn for a couple of nights. It was everything we could have wished for and so much more. There were so many small touches that made our stay incredible. Even though the weather was wet and miserable, it was bliss knowing we could stay in the barn and enjoy our day still. The surrounding areas were fab and very convenient. Emma’s communication was superb and she gave isn’t so many tips and ideas on exploring the local area and suggestions of places to visit. The barn was SO stylish and comfortable to stay in (great nights sleep!!). The bathroom was a lovely, tranquil spot to bathe. The breakfast that was provided was great (delicious bread) and Emma had stocked the place up nicely with very luxurious bathing treats! We will 100% be coming back!! Thanks again Emma.

Room with character and lovely countryside views in modern semi detached house in a quiet cul-de-sac. Situated in the village of Farringdon near Chawton, Jane Austen’s village.
There are 2 pubs in the village within walking distance, and beautiful walks nearby. Many National Trust properties are in the area as well as pretty Hampshire villages. Guests may have use of large garden which is enclosed and safe if bringing a dog.
Farringdon is a pretty village about 5 minutes off the A31 in beautiful Hampshire countryside.
  • Very good hospitality

  • Denise was a fantastic host who made us feel exceptionally welcome in her own home. She was full of useful tips about places to visit and made sure coffee, tea or a much needed bacon and egg sandwich was on hand when needed. Her home is beautiful and comfortable with two of the most adorable dogs ever. Highly recommend!

  • Very clean and tidy house. Cosy room. Nice big garden. And situated in a very calm place though near to commodities. We were free to use everything. Denise is a pleasant and helpful lady who listened to our needs and even proposed to iron our clothes. We strongly recommend her to anyone looking for a stay in this area.

A beautiful cottage set in a picturesque, historic village yet with all the modern amenities you would want.
We hope you enjoy our warm and cosy, quintessentially English cottage. Although just off the main road, and so easily accessible, the cottage boasts a secluded feel immediately. Entering through the front conservatory, there's a small toilet and utility area with a fully usable washer/dryer. Then through to the kitchen and 3 further rooms - dining, living and conservatory. The dining room has a usable wood burner. Upstairs is a double bedroom, bathroom with separate bath and power shower, and 3 singles, all with wardrobe space. The property has central heating and double glazing throughout. In the living room there is a television and separate DVD player, and there is also free broadband. The property has some traffic noise during the day (being on a main road), which can be heard when windows & doors are open during the warm weather. But by late afternoon/evening this is minimal.
You are nestled in the beautiful village of Selborne, whose amenities include a pub serving delicious food, a coffee shop and a local convenience store. Gilbert White's house is also close by and worth a visit. This is classic Jane Austen country, with Jane's house located close by in Chawton. Chawton is another picturesque village with some lovely local amenities - be sure to check out Cassandra's Cup, a delicious tea room.
  • We had a wonderful stay in this cute cottage. It’s much bigger than it looks in the photos and is very comfortable. The kitchen has lots of plates and cups which is great. The cottage was also lovely and warm and had a good selection of games and dvds. It was very useful having the use of the travel cot and high chair. Sophie was a great host who answered all my questions quickly and also left some milk and biscuits for our arrival which was lovely and thoughtful. I would definitely stay again.

  • A very comfortable cottage with great facilities . Lots of useful touches to the home - security lights in the garden (very useful for Winter - especially going out with the dogs early morning) Hooks, good lighting, decent cupboard space. House was clean & host really helpful with a few queries. Parking fine as well. Would come again

    Hannah2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • A quaint country cottage that is accessed by a quaint lane within a quaint village in the beautiful Hampshire countryside. Visiting in the depths of winter was not a problem as the cottage had great heating. We can imagine ourselves lounging in the conservatory if we had been visiting in the summer months. The kitchen is well equipped and the lounge is a cosy room with windows on three sides, so always receiving any sunshine. You will not be disappointed with the four bedrooms, perfect for our family of 5 when most accommodation only suits a family of 4. This place is ideal for an escape to the country, with beautiful country walks nearby and the almost adjoining rec grounds with playground. We will be back.

  • Thank you for the lovely stay! Really lovely and cosy cottage with plenty of nice country walks around. We stayed there for 2 nights with a toddler and a baby. The house is suitable for small children. The cottage is very well located walking distance from the local pub and tea room, as well as starting point for nice country walks. The “zig-zag walk” on a bright sunny day is beautiful. Sophie also has a folder in the house with plenty of ideas of things to do in the area.

    Charlotte2019-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • You can expect a very cosy cottage in a nice village. The host is very responsive and will help you sort any issues. Remember to go to the local pub and have a pint and a meal there.

A lovely double room with TV, WIFI, mini fridge and a spacious WC/shower room. Situated on the ground floor of a 17th century cottage directly opposite Jane Austen's House and next door to The Greyfriar pub and the café Cassandra's Cup where breakfast is available.
Chawton is one of the prettiest villages in Hampshire. From the cottage there is access to many country walks. It is also within easy access of several other historic villages and towns such as Selborne (Gilbert White's museum), Alton (The Watercress Line), Alresford and Winchester.
Chawton is the postcard perfect English village with its many period houses, Jane Austen's House and the magnificent Chawton House (open to the public) - not to mention the Chawton cricket pitch where cricket is played daily during summer months against a backdrop of sheep and the famous Chawton House shire horses grazing peacefully in their paddock. Being in the middle of a National Park, Chawton is surrounded by outstandingly beautiful countryside. At the same time, it is not a remote village. It is within walking distance of the market town Alton which has several shops, banks and rail links to the rest of the country, including London, less than 1 hour away by train.
  • Perfect place for any Jane Austen fan since the place is just crossing the street from the JA house museum. It's a lovely cottage! On Cassandra's cup (the restaurant nextdoor) they serve delicious English breakfast and tea. Chawton is a gorgeous town we loved it!

    Stalin2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts were amazing. From communication prior to my stay to hunting me down to return my passport which I left behind. Beautiful place. If you are a Jane Austen fan there is only one place to stay. My thanks to Melane and I will definitely be booking again.

    Andy2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect place for fans of Jane Austen to stay. You are just steps away from her home and when you’re not visiting the Jane Austen House Museum, you can admire it from the window of your thoughtfully appointed room! I wasn’t sure from the listing if we’d be getting a room in someone’s home or a private space, but it’s completely private—a bit like a studio apartment—which was nice. And Malene was a terrific host. I would definitely stay here again.

    Colleen2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very cosy stay. It was super easy to find and get access to the cottage. We were travelling via public transport and walking and this place suited us great. Lovely touches like tea and coffee, lots of cushions, blankets and tv. Had dinner and drinks in pub and breakfast in cafe which are both right next door and are lovely places .

    Jennifer2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Neither Catherine Morland, visiting Northanger Abbey, nor Anne Elliot, visiting Lyme, could have been more pleased and delighted than we were with our visit to Cassandra's Cottage in Chawton, Hampshire, UK. Janeites of the world, you who long to see where your favorite literary heroines were born and nurtured, this review is for you! It is easy to get to Chawton from London using public transportation -- just take the Southwestern Railway from Waterloo Station to Alton. From the station in Alton you walk 1.8 miles, or take the 64 bus going toward Winchester, or take a taxi. Ask locals to point you in the right direction if you opt to walk, as we did. Malene is a gracious host, the cottage is comfy and cozy and right across the street from Jane Austen's home where you can wander about the rooms and grounds to your heart's content, taking selfies and trying your hand at writing with a quill pen. Later a lovely walk to Chawton House gives you a full sense of the sweet landscape and verdure that nourished our favorite authoress.

This is a self contained flat built above our garage in the building that used to be the old coach house. Set in a quiet location on the northern edge of the South Downs National Park it is well placed for walking, National Trust, Jane Austen, HMS Victory, The Mary Rose, The Watercress line, Goodwood, Haslemere, Petworth, The Devil's Punchbowl and the lovely town of Petersfield. It can accommodate 2 comfortably and 4 using the bed settee , but this can be quite a squeeze.
This property is on the edge of the village of Liss which is on the main line railway to Waterloo or Portsmouth. Trains run hourly and it is a 10 minute walk to the station. Despite being near the village centre, with a small Tesco, a Boots and a great little café, it is very peaceful and within an easy of The Sussex Border Path, The Serpent Trail and other waymarked paths. The flat is self contained with its own entrance and has access to a small garden. It is perfect for two but could take up to four with use of the bed settee which can be folded during the day. It has a kitchen with washing machine, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, cooker, fridge and is heated with storage heaters. A tumble dryer can be used on request. There is a Smart TV, which works on FreeSat, offering the usual terrestrial channels as well as internet access providing catch up, Netflix (use your own account) and other internet channels. There is a strong WIFI signal as well as the possibility of an ethernet connection. There is a DVD player and a good selection of DVDs as well as books and some games. Our family use the space when they come and love it - you will be very comfortable and made very welcome. We do ask that guests park at the bottom of the drive rather than adjacent to the property as space is limited. The space is best used by two adults, but could accommodate two more with use of the bed settee or the option of mattresses on the floor for children. Please let me know if you will need the extra bedding for more than two people or indeed two people who wish to sleep separately.
The neighbourhood has all the advantages of village living, plus proximity to a main line station, but retains a country feel. It is within easy reach of many places of interest as well as stunning countryside and South Downs waymarked paths.
  • Lovely little place to stay. Hosts couldn't be more helpful.

    Richard2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth is a very accommodating host. The space is lovely and comfortable and great as a couple retreat. The walk from Liss station is roughly 15 minutes if you’re a slow walker and there’s a Tesco express nearby too. Loved the decor and me and my Queen would recommend.

    Queenie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This a very comfortable self-contained flat with all the amenities you could wish for. The parking is on the road, about a minutes walk away, but I had no problems finding space. I was attending a course at Longmoor Barracks so had little opportunity to explore Liss and the surrounding area but it looked perfectly positioned for walks. It is an ideal base for anyone that does not want to stay on camp (or whose other half does not want to!).

    Ian2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I had a lovely stay here! The place was spotless and had everything you needed for a nice weekend away. Ruth and Graham were thoughtful hosts and were on hand if we needed them. There was also a good range of suggestions for places to eat and places to go while we were there. Very quiet surroundings and gorgeous countryside! We would recommend and would stay here again!

    Kara2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth's place was quiet and clean and perfect as a rest stop after a long day exploring. The flat had everything we could need.

Louisa's Cottage is a modern, family cottage, sleeping up to six people (although 4 of those people will share the upstairs bedroom) in two comfortable bedrooms. Louisa's Cottage is one of four holiday properties at our farm and was completed in March 2019. The property is at the end of a terrace of holiday houses, with its own private garden with patio area and wonderful view across a peaceful valley. Dogs are welcome at Louisa's Cottage.
Louisa's Cottage offers light and airy accommodation with an open plan kitchen/dining/sitting area, one ground floor bedroom, modern bathroom and a huge bedroom/playroom upstairs. After parking immediately outside your door, you will walk into a large corridor with space for stowing shoes and wellies, leading to a well equipped kitchen / dining / sitting room. This large room opens out through French windows onto your own private terrace and garden complete with garden tables and chairs. The kitchen is well equipped with the usual appliances of fridge, freezer, oven, hob, microwave and toaster. There is also a small washer/dryer in the property. A smart television offering apps such as Netflix will keep you entertained on those horrible rainy days and it goes without saying that guests have use of free Wifi. There is a great bedroom upstairs that children will love. Accessed by stairs from the sitting room, children will have their own space to create chaos and noise. There is a small double bed, one single bed and a single mattress on the floor. NOTE that whilst the property can accommodate 6 adults, it is better suited to a family with perhaps 3 adults and 3 children. There is no extra charge for use of a travel cot, stair gate and high chair as required. Please contact us for information and to discuss your requirements. We welcome guests who wish to stay for a minimum of two nights up to a maximum of one month. Please note, Stable Cottage, Rose Cottage, Louisa's Cottage and Edward's Cottage are situated on a working farm and next door to horse stables. Whilst the interior of the properties is beautiful, we would like to make it clear that, at present, the exterior is still a work in progress. This does not detract from the overall glorious setting. The property particulars may change without prior notice and the owners are not liable for any inaccuracies in the property's description on our website or through media/advertising sources. Any photographs are for illustrative purposes only. Things to note: The Cottages are set on a working small-holding therefore visitors can expect to see cows, dogs and horses during their stay with us. Please note that all four holiday properties are adjacent/joined to one-another. Each house has its own private patio and garden but the parking is shared. Due to the proximity to one-another and also to our farmhouse, you will be staying next door to children and animals (and sometimes noisy adults!). We are a laid-back farm which very much caters for families so if it is absolute peace and quiet you're after, you may want to look elsewhere!! Quiet hours at the farm are between 9pm and 9am and we ask that you keep noise to an absolute minimum during these times. Edward's Cottage and Louisa’s Cottage are a the ‘ends’ and Rose Cottage and Stable Cottage are in the middle. Due to our rural location, the wifi and mobile phone signal can sometimes be weak. Edward's Cottage in particular is affected when there is heavy rain/fog/mist. A car is absolutely essential if you wish to stay at Downlands Farm.
Our four holiday homes, Rose Cottage, Stable Cottage, Edward's Cottage and Louisa's Cottage are set in the heart of the beautiful Hampshire countryside with wonderful views across a peaceful valley. They are a rural haven for visitors but only 10 minutes from Petersfield, with fantastic road and rail connections for London and Portsmouth. The four holiday homes would suit large groups and families looking to holiday together. Please ask your host, Venetia, for more information. Our small working farm, Downlands Farm, on which the self-catering cottages are set, is just off a green-lane which leads to miles of footpaths, bridleways and on and off-road cycling. Pets are welcome at our holiday cottages, please enquire upon booking. There are three excellent pubs surrounding the farm, all within a half hour stroll or a 3 minute car journey. The quaint and bustling market town of Petersfield is a 10 minute drive from the farm and alongside the two local village shops, these all provide a perfect base for stocking up on essential items. The larger, cathedral cities of Chichester, Guildford, Portsmouth and Winchester are all equally 45 minutes away, offering great shopping and entertainment. We are so lucky to be within an hour’s drive from one of the premier Blue Flag beaches in the country, West Wittering. West Wittering is a beautiful place to visit, whatever the season, and can be enjoyed by all ages. Hayling Island, a shingle beach (with funfair for the children!) is half an hour from Downlands Farm.

  • A fantastic cottage, beautifully done out. Very relaxing, and lovely to see sheep in the field out the back, and we were lucky to see the horses being put in the stables one evening (thank you to the ladies who allowed us to pop in and see the horses). Thank you for our arrival gifts and for letting us have a late check out, which turned out was needed due to a flat tyre! Just a note for future guests, this farm and cottages is in the middle of the country, down very narrow country lanes, something I hadn't really taken into consideration when booking, not really suitable for our car, whoops!

  • 3rd time I've stayed here - this time in a different cottage to usual and was just as nice. Cannot fault any of the cottages here.

This pretty king sized bedroom is on the first floor of our family home with en-suite shower, toilet and sink. The bed can be split into a twin if this is preferable. There is plenty of space to hang your clothes, a TV and provision to make tea and coffee.  We also have a king and a double sized bedroom listed as 'Great king/ensuite in Four Marks' and 'Kingsized room in Four Marks' if you require any additional rooms for your booking.
Now the last of the children have left our family home, my husband Roland & I thought it would be fun to try Airbnb. Having experienced some great hosts ourselves we will endeavour to ensure we give the same experience to our guests.
Four Marks has a few shops including a Tesco's Express, Co-Op, BP garage/M&S and a few independent shops which include a pharmacy, bakery, butchers and local park. We also have two Indian restaurants’, a fish and chip shop and a Chinese takeaway. Alton is a market town 4 miles away that has shops, banks and rail line direct to London (Waterloo) which is just over a 1 hour away and has links to all other destinations. Petersfield, Basingstoke and Alresford are approx. 15 - 20 mins drive away and both old market towns and they have a lovely selection of restaurants, independent shops and a few chain stores. Petersfield has a direct train line to Portsmouth giving easy access to the Historic Naval Dockyard (this is about 40mins drive from us). We are in beautiful the South Downs National Park, and in easy access of some historic villages such as Chawton, which is a delightful English village with many period houses including Jane Austen's House and the Chawton House Library - which is open to the public. Selbourne also has Gilbert White's museum. If you can jump in the car there many pubs and restaurants in the surrounding towns and villages and we are happy to recommend a few places if required.  The Grange opera is 10 miles away and Hinton Ampner – National Trust house and gardens is only 7 miles away. If you like walking, road biking or mountain biking we have some lovely walks and trails, country lanes etc.
  • Really lovely place and well looked after, thank you!

  • Excellent choice for anyone looking for excellent service and amazing hospitality. Fiona and Roland were very accommodating, especially when we checked in late. The room was very clean and well designed, with a view of a beautiful garden! 10/10 would stay again!

  • I was travelling for work and requested an early check in/late check out, Fiona accommodated this no problem. Fiona and her husband were so welcoming and their house is beautiful. Great location and easy to find, plenty of parking. Room was really spacious and lovely ensuite. I would definitely recommend and stay again, thank you

    Nick2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona and Roland accommodated us very last minute again. They are both exceptional hosts, very warm and welcoming. The room was clean, tidy and ready for us. My partner didn't even make it through one of her favourite programmes - she was sound asleep and didn't stir through the night. A very good sign to show how relaxed we felt. Once again, thank you Fiona and Roland for looking after us. We really enjoyed your company. Xx

    John2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona, Roland and Sigournay - you are absolute legends! Once again our hosts accommodated us at really late notice. Roland and Fiona were on a date night and made arrangments through their daughter Sigournay. A very smooth operation indeed! Communication was prompt. Our hosts are approachable and couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was comfortable. We had a warm welcome from Sigournay who made sure we had everything that we needed for our stay. Parking is on the driveway, plenty of space for our big car and within seconds of the front door. We stayed in a different room to our first stay. Again it was clean. Plentiful items for hot drinks were available (with mugs and teaspoon) as well as glasses and bottled water. The sweet treats were very welcome too. The bedroom looks large in the photos - it is even larger in reality. Plenty of storage for all our suitcases and rucksacks. Lots of surface space at a good height for putting our gadgets on. Great TV reception which was a good distraction for my partner who was able to relax to her favourite programmes after a long day at work. Plenty of sockets, conveniently located to charge up our mobiles. Broadband is excellent and consistent. All the required information for connectivity is at hand and clearly stated in the listing too when one has booked. Local tips and taxi firms are also provided. The bedroom faces the beautiful garden - very quiet and calm. The bed is very comfortable with a medium firmness to the mattress. Another good night's sleep was had by both of us. We couldn't get up for work - or in my case - I didn't want to get up for work. The ensuite shower room with WC is very clean. The Mira electric shower is powerful. Shampoos, body washes, ear buds, 'lady items' etc were also provided - everything and more for those little emergencies! We met the other guest but didn't hear him or when Roland and Fiona returned - no disturbances during the night. Another relaxing stay! Thank you Fiona, Roland and Sigournay for making our stay comfortable again. You are fab hosts. Extra tip for other guests: we had an enjoyable and hearty meal at the Saffron Indian restaurant which is minutes away by car - reasonably priced and excellent service.

  • The Old Forge was perfect! It was spotless and seemed like new and Kim has thought of everything. We’ve stayed in many a smart hotel (for work) and this is comparable to a small suite with a kitchenette. There was milk, bread, cereal, tea, coffee etc, dressing gowns and toiletries too. We had a delicious brunch at Nosh cafe, a good Thai meal in nearby Alton and a good walk at the Devil’s punch bowl, about 30mins drive away. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

This wonderful building, started in the 60’s by Edward Barnsley, was finished more recently and remains in the family. Adjacent to the Barnsley workshops, which remain operational to this day. It stands in the grounds of The Bee House, where poet Edward Thomas wrote many of his poems. The garden falls straight into the South Downs Hangars, with direct access to fantastic woodland walks with spectacular views, whilst minimal light pollution makes the night skies perfect for star-gazing.
The Folly comprises of an open plan living and kitchen area. In the living room there is a sofa bed that can be used as a double if needed. The kitchen is fully equipped. The bedroom has a double bed. The wet room has a shower, sink and toilet.
The Folly sits in the garden of The Bee House. Surrounded by woods which are part of the South Downs. There are many great walks that can lead to many great pubs. Our closest being The Trooper followed by The Pub With No Name. Froxfield village is also known as Little Switzerland. We are the highest village in Hampshire. Some mornings you can wake up and be above the clouds! Everyone who has stayed at The Folly regardless of the weather have been mesmerised by the view.
  • Sharyn's place is beautiful - we loved being able to sit and look out across the stunning landscape regardless of the weather! The breakfast had a great selection of options, there were fresh flowers in the kitchen, the communication and check-in was smooth and the kitchen was well-equipped. Definitely recommend!

    Lizzie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time staying at the folly for New Years. The space is comfortable and warm and only a 10 minute walk from the local pub. The view is lovely and plenty of walks nearby to enjoy. Sharyn has thought of everything to make the folly a relaxing escape.

    Charlotte2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Spectacular views, incredible hospitality and with everything you could ever need for a magical get away. The folly is top of our list after many years of staying in some really wonderful places on Airbnb. Sharyn went over and above to make our stay special. There is some thoughtful items in every corner and it was so nice to have local produce included so we didn’t need to bring food. Also I’m not sure if she will be annoyed at us for saying this but she arranged a surprise roast dinner all ready and left in the oven for our return after a walk. She offered to do this when my other half told her it was my birthday. What a nice smell to return to and the small detail of laying out the table, supplying a menu and choosing a super bottle of wine, all at a very reasonable rate. And yes let’s not forget dessert...wow !! A message to anyone considering this fantastic piece of heaven, do it !!Thank you so much for a perfect stay.

    Sandra & Petr2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • What an utterly stunning place. Views are even better than the photos. Great hospitality and lovely little extra touches. Pub within walking distance and entrance to the nature reserve at the end of the road. We'll definitely be back! Thanks Sharyn & Nick!

    Jess2019-09-08T00:00:00Z

    Katherine2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • A very special place in a stunning location. Sharyn provided lots of extra touches to make a stay comfortable and interesting, such as binoculars, torches, local maps and guides, and mini Jaffa cakes! We hope to be able to return for a longer visit.

    Stephen2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • A unique setting and a very beautiful designed cabin. The Edward Barnsley furniture items are delightful. The whole place breathes style and comfort. Located near pretty Petersfield and a great starting point for hikes, such as in East Meon and Buriton. We enjoyed also the local pub Without a Name and good food and service in the Troopers Inn. Sorry we had to leave after three days... Sharyn made us feel totally at home by giving us exactly the privacy and assistance we needed.

In August 2006, Anna and Will introduced the UK's first Feather Down farm. Situated on the edge of the South Downs National Park, Manor Farm remains a tranquil oasis just an hour from London that many guests have returned to time and again for their Hampshire glamping farm holiday. Farming arable, cattle and sheep among a classic rolling landscape of copses and sunken lanes is even more of a pleasure now the family get to share it with so many happy people. You will relax in one of the extra luxurious Frills tents: either under a twinkling starscape in your own hot tub, or instead at a tent with its own en suite, depending on your booking selection. The tents are in the old farm orchard under trees or amongst hedgerows and are ideally spaced, each one offering privacy whilst also being well placed for groups. Some face into the orchard towards the lamb paddock, while others have views over Alton and the rolling countryside beyond. Each tent has its own campfire site for cooking hearty meals in the stew pot or toasting marshmallows, and there are plenty of places for foraging wood. A barbecue under the stars is not to be missed, for which the meat is often provided ' the marinated butterflied leg of lamb being a favourite. In September, the hedgerows are full of berries, guests having lots of fun foraging for food from the hedgerows & fields. Wandering off site, there are great local pubs within walking distance, including the Three Horseshoes 1 mile away in East Worldham who have always looked after our guests well. For those who love a dip, there's wild swimming at Frensham Ponds that is only 20 minutes away, or a fun paddle at West Wittering and Hayling Island on the coast, which you can reach within an hour. Please note: there is no electricity in this location

The house is located on a hill within walking distance of the town, buses and the train station. Jane Austen's House Museum is nearby in the village of Chawton. Alton is surrounded with picturesque villages with old worldly pubs. Alton is not far from Winchester, Guildford and historic town of Petersfield and is just over an hour by train to Waterloo Station in London.
The room is a small room with a platform bed with the access by a built in sturdy ladder. There are great views from this room. A desk and chair is under the bed. There is also a wardrobe.
It is a short walk to the town where there are a variety of restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and specialist shops.
  • Nice room and great location :) Gill is a lovely host and I really enjoyed my stay with her. I arrived late in the evening and she even picked me up from the train station!

  • My stay with Gill was absolutely lovely and far exceeded my expectations! I stayed in the single room with the platform bed - very exciting, I felt like a child again! Charmingly furnished and spotlessly clean, as was the bathroom. The location was ideal with easy access to the high street, local amenities, and buses to the surrounding places of interest. Gill's hospitality and knowledge of the area made my visit all the more worthwhile!

  • This is a cozy, quiet and a confy place. It's exactly for a woman who is traveling alone and need some safety and feeling like home during a long trip. The location is amazing, close to the supermarkets and pubs in a walk distance. What was crucial for me due to my interest in do the Jane Austen's walk trail from Alton to Chawton. • Great quiet place to stay for a few days, for exploring the area or like us, between moving houses. Lovely touches and we enjoyed our stay.

    Satu2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little place and Norma couldn't have been anymore welcoming. Would highly recommend.

    Philip2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Norma's place is a great find! It's a cute little bedsit + shower room, with a little terrace area and access to a lovely garden. It's tucked away and very quiet and peaceful, but only a few minutes walk into Alton town centre. Norma has filled the space with thoughtful touches - including a mini kitchen area and lots of treats to help with breakfast etc. The room is super clean and the bed and sofa really comfy! There's a huge TV and stacks of DVDs. The wifi isn't great but it works well in the garden so we were fine. Norma was a great host - checking in and making sure we were ok and had everything we needed, but also giving us space to relax and enjoy our stay.

    Sophie2019-09-19T00:00:00Z

Village itself is beautiful, very close to historic Jane Austen house and museum located in picturesque village that she lived in. Norma's place is located about an hour from beautiful seaside. Both host's were lovely and very friendly, the place had everything you need including continental breakfast (tea, coffee, sugar, milk ) We felt very welcomed and we recommend this place for quiet stay.

The Granary is a little, self-contained cottage attached to the main house but with its own entrance, deck and BBQ area. Opposite our organic, sourdough bakery and set amidst beautiful gardens (croquet, hens, sunken trampoline, huge oaks) with footpaths, cycle routes and lanes into the national park, it is quiet, cosy and special. Choose your breakfast loaf direct from the bakery to enjoy with all the other bountiful and delicious ingredients supplied for you in your own, well equipped kitchen.
Set in The National Park's beautiful agricultural countryside, we treasure our fresh, clean air, quiet days and silent nights (owls excepted) and love to share this with others. We take our environmental responsibilities seriously and can offer you free electric car charging - the electricity for The Granary, our on-site organic bakery and our home is supplied from renewable sources only. The central heating and hot water come from a reliable combination of ground source heat, solar thermal and wood-fired heating. You will be warm enough in winter but there's nothing that beats sitting beside a glowing, wood-burning stove ready for lighting when you arrive. And in summer, a cool drink beside the pond while watching the dragon-flies is a great treat. The Granary is perfect for two but many guests bring along a kid or two - so long as the little ones are happy on a sofa bed (bedding supplied). We can supply a travel cot for a baby. You are very welcome to bring along a well trained dog (we'll introduce yours to ours to ensure they're all friends) but remind you that we have free ranging hens in the garden and sheep in our fields, so if your dog needs to be kept on a lead, please do so. We will leave you in peace but you'll be able to track us down easily if you want any advice on local walks, on and off-road cycle routes, places to visits or pubs to go to.
  • The cottage is cosy and stylish, and the garden is large, with free range chickens roaming. Vickie is the most generous host, supplying wonderful home-made bread, honey and eggs.

    Ali2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Vickie’s place was full of joy! Delicious bread, beautiful garden, super clean and a fantastic wood burner. We were only sad not to being staying longer.

  • Laundry Cottage is a wonderful place to stay. The food that is provided for breakfast is delicious, especially the free range eggs and the sourdough bread baked on site. We really appreciated all the generous little touches like fresh fruit, tea, coffee and milk. There is so much food provided for breakfast that we hardly needed to eat for the rest of the day! Beautiful walks straight out of the cottage, no need to drive anywhere. Such a cosy cottage with everything you could possibly need including plenty of wood for the fire. Vickie was a great host who was nearby if anything was required. Definitely recommend staying here - we will definitely return. Thank you

    Alex2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Vickie really is the perfect host - and the cottage is sweet, immaculate and has everything you need, from superfast wifi to freshly baked bread that Vickie bakes herself each morning. A beautiful countryside setting too, with dogs and chickens pottering about. The whole visit could not have been better.

    Robert2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay at The Granary, the cottage was clean, warm and cosy, especially the log burner which went down well with the winter weather. The quality and quantity of the breakfast foods were excellent and the freshly made sourdough bread and eggs from onsite was a real gem. Vickie was very welcoming and flexible, great local information in the cottage too if you need ideas for visiting the area.

    Tom2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place to escape the city! We had a great time at The Granary. Vickie is a great host - we felt it was home from home. Would definitely recommend. (Oh, and the bread 😍 a huge winner.)

    Dan James2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Vickie is an amazing host. Very hospitable and the amazing bread is a huge bonus! The property itself is wonderful, very cosy and clean. It's an ideal place to get away from it all.

Our home is located in a village between the pretty market towns of Alton & Petersfield in the South Downs National Park. It's a convenient location for guests attending weddings at Long Barn in Newton Valence and Old Thorns near Liphook and we are not far from the A3 too. The room best suits couples, solo and business travellers but all are welcome . We have a travel cot that can be added to the room and also a cot mattress that can be placed on the floor for little ones.
There are fantastic views from our house and a large garden for you to relax in.
The village is close to Gilbert White's House in Selborne and Jane Austen's home in Chawton. With the A3 close by, the house is only about half an hour's drive from Portsmouth, Midhurst, Chichester and Guildford. You can walk in open countryside directly from our house or go further afield to explore the South Downs Way or Gilbert White's famous Zig Zag path. You are welcome to use our garden with its quiet rural outlook.
  • It was a great English countryside experience, from local pub around, to Claire and Andy s brick house with beautiful flowers. Great hospitality, homemade bread, and so.many refine details.. If you re lucky, you can ask Claire to play English folk music....she s really good. Totally recommended to travelers looking for a "British" amd country style experience with nice sceneries around

    Jerome2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Claire and Andy are the ideal hosts. They are attentive, but never intrusive. I loved having an electric kettle in my room. Every detail was in place, and they regularly attended to my needs. Their home is spotlessly clean. I would definitely stay again.

  • Fantastic hosts, despite being in their own home they made us feel welcome, comfortable and gave us everything we needed! They were super flexible about checking in time. A super spot to stay if you are visiting the area!

A fabulous space in an oak-framed garden studio independent to our home with double sofa bed, large shower room and tea and coffee making facilities, microwave and mini fridge. Within walking distance of the Watercress Line and less than 10 minutes drive to Jane Austen's House. We are also well placed for The Grange Opera, which is about a 15 minute drive away.
A lovely, private, light filled, purpose-built oak framed studio adjacent to but not attached to the main house. The studio is spacious with a large en-suite shower room and essential kitchen items such as a toaster, microwave, mini fridge, kettle and filter coffee machine with fresh ground coffee provided. I provide breakfast items (cereals, bread, spreads etc) at no extra charge. The studio is fully insulated and heated with patio doors opening out onto the garden. It's a welcoming place to be whatever the season - cosy in the winter and flooded with light in the summer. Although the bed is a sofa bed, it's a good sized double with a hugely comfortable mattress, feather duvet and good quality bed linen. There is a large glass table overlooking the garden and private patio area - ideal for enjoying breakfast with beautiful rural views or for working at if need be.
The studio is situated under 10 minutes drive from Alton, which is a small market town. We are within walking distance of Medstead and Four Marks Station of the Watercress Line (steam train line -not mainline!) which has many events throughout the year (eg War on the Line, Thomas and Friends, Santa Express etc) and the shops of Four Marks Village. There is a good traditional, village pub approximately a mile away and many others that serve fantastic food, local wines and ales all within a 10 minute drive. We are also less than 10 minutes drive to: Jane Austen's House in Chawton; The Gilbert White Museum in Selborne; Alresford which is a traditional and pretty town with great pubs and restaurants and fabulous walks along the River Arle. Historic Winchester with all of its attractions is 20 minutes away and Stonehenge and Salisbury around an hour's drive. We are a good stop-off point for those walking the St Swithun's Way, well-placed for the South Downs Way for walking and cycling and we are within a 15 minute drive of The Grange Opera and around 10 minutes drive from Froyle Park, a popular wedding venue. For those interested in the now booming English Wine Industry, there is a friendly, award winning winery and vineyard in Wield - Hattingley Valley - who will happily show you around with prior notice and there is Jenkyns Place Vineyard in Bentley too. We have some great cycling routes from the doorstep and Chawton Woods is just up the road which offers local walks - perfect both for a muddy winter's stroll or a pleasant summer's one! From a work point of view, we have had many guests who have had short to medium term contracts in Basingstoke, which is between a 20 and 40 minute pleasant drive, depending on the time of day and where exactly in Basingstoke. We have also accommodated contractors from Lasham Airfield and the film site there. Lasham is around a 15 minute rural drive across country.
  • Outstanding value for money: your own peaceful and spacious garden apartment. We were visiting the area for a family celebration, arriving late in the evening and leaving early the following morning. We didn't actually get to meet our host but all communication with Lisa was clear, prompt and friendly and we were able to be entirely independent.

    Rachel2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely property in a nice quiet location. Lisa could not have been any more helpful.

    Debbie2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Lisa’s and can highly recommend it! Easy check in and such a cozy place with amazing breakfast - fresh bread, homemade jam etc. Warm shower, cozy bed (almost too cozy to get out in the morning) and a super quiet location, but still close enough to walk to the local pub!

    Jasmin2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is excellent value for money, clean & cosy.

    Elizabeth2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa's beautifully presented studio was a wonderful place to stay, so peaceful and relaxed. Our communication was friendly and instructions were clear to follow which was important as I arrived tired, in the dark, and checked myself in. Everything was provided to a very high standard and thoughtful little touches at every step made my stay easy, straight forward and so very cosy. I really appreciated being totally independent and couldn't recommend more highly that you book here if you're looking to stay in the area.

New for 2020. The Horse Hut is nestled in the corner of ‘horse feild’ where the farms shire horses once roamed. Look out over Hattingley valley across to the vineyards and enjoy the beautiful countryside. Take a bath on the veranda or watch the sun set from inside next to the log burner. The horse hut was originally on a lorry and was used at polo and shire horse shows now converted to luxury accommodation maintaining its horsey heritage.

The townhouse is located in an ideal part of Alton Town, five minutes from the train station. The light and airy bedroom has an attached balcony, not suitable for children. The bathroom is located across the hall. A continental style breakfast will be served, in your room or down stairs in the dining room.
We have a small dog, he lives downstairs, he is very friendly and will give you lots of attention if you ask for it.
Alton is a lively market town right in the heart of Jane Austen country. The surrounding landscape is picturesque and tranquil. Wander around the lovingly-preserved rooms at Jane Austen's House Museum in nearby Chawton. Visit the Allen Gallery – one of South East England’s most marvellous ceramics collections with regular exhibitions, a coffee shop and garden. Pop into the Curtis Museum to see some local relics (including the famous Saxon artefact, the Alton Buckle) and to get some insight into Alton's fascinating history.
  • Lovely host, lovely location. Room was perfect

    Matt2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • I only stayed over for one night, but I had a lovely stay! Elaine is a kind and helpful host with a bubbly personality. We had a really nice chat and she made me feel at home right away. I felt very comfortable and welcome to do my own thing too (got my own key so I could pop in and out whenever I pleased). The room and balcony were very nice, with loads of storage space and a comfortable bed. Bath and shower were wonderful too (good waterpressure and the bath gets nice and hot). The house was squeaky clean and little Rocco (the dog) loves a good fuss and a cuddle! The location is brilliant too - really just 5 minutes away from the station + supermarket, and only a 10 min stroll into town. Alton is a lovely market town to explore and I'd definitely recommend staying with Elaine. Thanks again Elaine and Rocco!

A characterful double bedroom with comfortable kings size bed within a period cottage located in Lower Farringdon. The Cottage is a five minute drive from Alton town and the station. Ideally located for visits to Jane Austen's House/Village of Chawton, Winchester and The Watercress Line. There are two great country pubs, both within walking distance. Although we are located in a small village, we are near a main road and the hum of traffic can be heard at peak times.
The Cottage is believed to be dated back to the 16th Century so has lots of character. The room is fitted with bedside draws, a desk and small wardrobe. Jane Austen's house and museum are 20 minutes walk away in the village of Chawton. There is space for one car on the drive at the rear of the property.
We are perfectly located for visits to Jane Austins House Museum in the neighboring Village of Chawton. Jane Austen's House Museum in Chawton is the house where Jane Austen lived and wrote. It is the most treasured Austen site in the world. It was in this country cottage that Jane's genius flourished and where she wrote, revised and had published all her major works, including the timeless Pride and Prejudice. We have two pubs in the Village, both in walking distance, we can highly recommend the Rose & Crown in Upper Farringdon for food!

Stunning large studio apartment with exquisite paddock views.
Beautiful, large studio with kingsize bed and adjoining ensuite shower and WC, set in the middle of an SSSI within the South Downs National Park and accessed by an unmade bumpy track. Please note this is not a village location though pubs are about a 5 minute drive (walkable with good footwear and a map ! ) A car or bicycles are favourable although hikers are welcome. 3 Stables available, by arrangement, at additional cost. 120 acres of hacking available immediately from site.
The nature reserve is peaceful and beautiful all year round with it's large pond a 10 minute stroll. It is a fifteen minute drive to Jane Austen's old house in Chawton and a similar distance to The Wakes Museum at Selborne, home of the naturalist Gilbert White. Guildford, Winchester and Portsmouth & the south coast are all within 1 hour drive, central London, waterloo 1 hour on the train from Alton station.
  • Beautiful location. Cosy with lots of character.

  • We loved staying here! The apartment is open-plan, light and airy, but also very comfortable, warm & cosy (there's an air conditioning/heating unit to control the temperature). The apartment is really well-equipped - utensils in the kitchen, crockery, a TV, amble bedding & blankets etc. and well decorated! There is a faint smell of stables, which wasn't a problem for us. The position is fantastic - there is a nature reserve on the doorstep & lots of other beautiful places for walks & nice pubs etc within easy driving distance. We'd also really recommended Spice Lounge Indian Takeaway in Bordon!

The house is homely and rustic with seating in the garden to relax and enjoy nature. Parking is available on request. The house is within a short walking distance of the town centre, buses and train station. Jane Austen's Village, Chawton, is nearby with lovely villages and pubs in the surrounding areas. It is not far to Winchester, Guildford and the historic town of Petersfield. It is just over an hour by train to Waterloo Station in London.
The room comprises of a comfortable, an antique dresser, chest of drawers and open wardrobe. It has a tunnel leading to a skylight non opening window in the roof. It is a small room. There are three other rooms available for guests. The house downstairs is the original floor boards and the kitchen dining room is a large open space which guests are welcome to cook and eat in.
It is a short walk to the town where there are a variety of restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and specialist shops.

    Michael2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay at Gills. Very homely, very and welcoming and does what it says on the tin! :o) x

    Gary2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Gill's garden and breakfast are worth a visit! Her home is very convenient for the town centre, but quiet and peaceful. The small room is as described, and was a bit stuffy in a heat wave, but that's why it is so inexpensive. Gill was away when I visited, but her friend arrived quickly when I called and gave me a good reception. I would go again!

    Mary2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place was an ideal place to crash. The room was cosy, clean and tidy. Pleasant breakfast of coffee, bagels and orange juice.

    Don2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • It was great experience. Although Gill warned me that it is a small room, I still decided to stay and it was the best decision. The house is very well maintained in a quite and beautiful twon. She gave me a tour of the house, showed me where everything was and made me my first coffee as my on job training session 🙂. She shared history of Alton town with me and gave me many tips on local sight seeing. I enjoyed breakfast with the view to beautiful garden in the backyard. If you stay there, you must have a cup of coffee or tea in the garden, totally worth it. She was very caring and always responded to my messages within minutes. Best experience, would love to stay at her place again because I plan to come to Alton again. Gill, Thank you for your hospitality.

    Sahibzada Waleed2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • I had a lovely stay with Gill, she's a great host and even picked me up from Alton Station on the Friday of my stay. Although I didn't see much of Gill and my other house guests during my very busy weekend stay, everything was as advertised, the room was cosy and comfortable, and I had a lovely time. Would definitely come back again.

. Our peaceful, secluded period cottage is the perfect place to escape, unwind and enjoy the countless acres of surrounding countryside with many local interesting places to visit and a short drive to popular historical towns and attractions, all within the South Downs National Park.
We have some amazing views from the Cottage and interesting country walks all on your doorstep. There is an amateur tennis court within yards of the Cottage for you to practice on with family and friends. The Cottage sleeps 12 guests but is more suited for 8 adults and 4 children/young teens for extended vacations, due only to the lack of wardrobe space. Jane Austin's house and Gilbert Whites museum and gardens are all within 5 miles away along with some cosy village pubs and we are also not far from Petersfield and Winchester, both of which are interesting historical towns full of Character. There is a riding stable within walking distance of us where you can book riding lessons etc, these are very popular and may need to be booked in advance which I can give you their details if required. The kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. I have tried to think of everything you may need in the way of scissors, bottle opener, sharp knives etc. There are bath sheets and hand towels, tea towels, kitchen roll, soap and hand wash, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, washing powder, cling film, foil, bin bags and toilet rolls. There is also tea, coffee and sugar. There is a generous amount of logs for the wood burner underneath it and in the back entrance that will cover a weekend stay. There is a separate utility room with a washing machine and tumble drier plus iron and ironing board. There is a television downstairs and a DVD player with some DVD's. We also have tennis rackets albeit a bit outdated but still useable, a croquet set and board games for all. There is a cot, highchair and 2 baby gates. If you have more family or friends that wish to stay during your visit then why not check out our other property on the estate 'Shotters farm Mews' which is listed separately on Airbnb. I hope all this information is helpful and look forward to your visit
Very peaceful with no traffic as we are on a Private Country Estate
  • We were a group of 12 friends celebrating my birthday. We had a great stay there, the house is warm and well presented. It was better that we expected. We played tennis in the tennis court behind the house. Sue is a nice and sweet host. It’s big enough to be very comfortable for a big group. We recommend it.

Spotlessly clean with plenty of room for everyone around the kitchen or dining table. The fire makes the house very cosy and the outside space is beautiful, with wide open areas to explore and a great tennis court to play on. Can't wait to return!

    Michelle2019-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great communication & tips, property was great, lots of different sized rooms, hallways was like a fun maze. Big areas in kitchen, lounge & diner.

  • We stayed over New Year’s Eve and had the most amazing time! The house itself is perfect for a group of up to 12 guests, with miles of beautiful countryside in a secluded setting. Susanjane was a perfect host with lots of local tips and helpful advice. Would 100% recommend!

West Cross House Studio is the perfect place to stay to get away from it all. It is in the middle of Upper Farringdon village and is within walking distance of two lovely pubs bother serving good food, the Rose and Crown and the Pheasant. Farringdon is a beautiful rural village situated in the South Downs National Park - the village is also on the Writers Walk. The Studio is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and furry friends (pets).
The garden studio is a large self-contained space with a wood burning stove (as well as heaters) and a very good shower etc - there is no kitchen but I do provide tea and coffee making facilities and there is a small fridge. The bed is a sofa bed but it is an extremely comfortable one. There is a little patio outside with table and chairs. There is plenty of space to put a mattress on the floor if an extra bed is required.
Farringdon is beautiful village in the South Downs National Park, within walking distance of the villages of Chawton, where Jane Austin lived and also Selborne which was the home of the naturalist Gilbert White - I like to think that Jane may even have had tea at my house. There are many wonderful walks around Farringdon.
  • Its exactly as the description and pictures show. We stayed one night in August 2019 because we were going to a 60th birthday party nearby. Sonia volunteered to give us a lift there early evening which was amazingly kind. The milk in the fridge was a nice touch for our breakfast cuppa. Would recommend.

    Peter2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, clean and cosy.... Sonia was absolutely fantastic. I would recommend to anyone.

    Justin2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • lovely and quiet, and we had a very good nights sleep after a busy day. A good location for the Long Barn/wedding venue in Newton Valence. Sonia was very helpful and welcoming and gave us very clear directions on how to find them and let us book in early to drop our bags and get changed for the wedding, we can recommend to any one needing accommodation in this area.

    Karen2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is beautiful! Sonia had everything clean and ready for us. There was more than enough amenities and the local pub just 3 minutes walk down the road served absolutely lovely food! Sonia was easy to talk to and very welcoming. The whole experience was fabulous!

    Karlene2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Sonia was an amazing host! She helped my first time traveling solo be a success! When the pub in the area wasn’t serving food because it was Sunday, she invited me in for an amazing meal! I loved my time! The village is quaint, the bed is so comfortable, and the countryside picturesque! I hope to go back.

    Faith2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Situated in very quiet place in the village. Lovely area to have my dog as local walking areas. Great advice for eating locally. Very helpful and friendly. Available but not intrusive. Fully enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend.

    Jennifer2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Charming & cozy cabin - we had a lovely stay! Very comfortable sofa bed, the fire place is fab and walking distance to two great pubs a nice plus point! We’ll be back for sure.

    Marina2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely area and great host. I enjoyed my stay here especially lighting the log burner. Peaceful and did the job fine, the bathroom and space are not exceptional, there is gym equipment present in the main living room and parts of the space are used for storage. But if you’re looking to get away from the world for a night, sleep on a sofa bed and light a fire then go for it! I would stay again.

Our cosy annex has been lovingly decorated with my favourite furniture and accessories. Centred around a wood burning stove, the annex is an open studio space with living, dining and sleeping areas within. It has a shower room, and separate toilet. This is the perfect country getaway for a couple or family...we are completely secluded and surrounded by stunning countryside. Nearby market town Petersfield is just 7 minutes drive, and 'the Hangers' is just 10 minutes walk from our door.
Our place is very peaceful and quiet, accessed by a long gravel drive behind big wooden gates. The annex is accessed by a staircase as it is on the first floor of a barn style building.
We are very lucky to have some amazing local pubs within walking distance, like the Queens Head in Sheet, the Harrow and the Cricketers in Steep. Steep Marsh is a small village with just a handful of residents.
  • The annex is the perfect spot for a weekend getaway to the country-side. It is a very tastefully presented flat with thoughtful touches such as shampoo/conditioner and tea. As the weather wasn’t great we spent most of our time relaxing by the fire watching a movie or two! We were very impressed with the check-in process including the pictures to aid self check in. The annex is a short drive from Peterfield or a 20min walk to Sheet (we would highly recommend the Queens head pub).

This bedroom is on the first floor of our home with it's own private bathroom with bath/shower, toilet and sink across the landing. There is plenty of space to hang your clothes, a TV and provision to make tea and coffee.  We also have two king sized bedrooms listed as 'Pleasant king/ensuite in Four Marks' and 'Great king/ensuite in Four Marks' if you require any additional rooms for your booking.
Now the last of the children have left our family home, my husband Roland & I thought it would be fun to try Airbnb. Having experienced some great hosts ourselves we endeavour to ensure we give the same experience to our guests.
Petersfield and Alresford are approx.

  • You can expect a warm welcome in a most comfortable home in a delightful county of Southern England. The home, though located in a rural village, is within easy driving distance of historic Winchester, the beautiful South Downs and, if you feel so inclined, the South Coast. I doubt very much you will be disappointed in your choice.

    Gerry2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay here, very quiet at night for a good night's sleep and the kitchen and garden are beautiful to sit in - we brought our own breakfast instead of going out somewhere and I'm glad we did as it is a beautiful house. Fiona and Roland were very welcoming and helped us plan our day out in the area.

  • Fiona & Roland are excellent people, great hosts and very accommodating

    Deji2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona and Roland's place is in a quiet residential area. It is in close proximity of local amenities and is not too far from good road links. Our hosts provided accurate directions and communication was prompt. We parked our vehicle in the driveway within a few seconds walk from the house. We received a warm and hearty welcome from Roland. The house is beautiful, clean and even better than we expected. The bedroom is clean and tidy. The king bed is very comfortable. Bedding is of a good quality. The mattress is of a medium firmness. A very good night's sleep was had by both. There is plenty of space to store suitcases and hang clothing. Beverages are provided in the bedroom with some sweet treats. We had good TV and broadband coverage. The ensuite is spacious and spotless. We were provided with soft, fluffy towels. The shower is powerful. Guests can access the beautiful garden and there is a sense of calmness around the home. One can interact as little or as much with the hosts. Thank you Fiona and Roland for sharing your beautiful home with us at such short notice. You are superb and we enjoyed staying with you. We wish you all the best in all that you do. Thank you for looking after us.

  • Cosy little cabin in Anne's beautiful garden with peaceful views out onto the field. Had everything we needed to cook our meals and comfy beds. Note that it is two single beds if coming as a couple which don't push together so well! But that was a minor thing in an otherwise v accomodating place. Thanks Anne for the walking tips too! Malou

  • Fantastic location, stunning and peaceful we couldn't have asked for more. The accommodation itself was a joy, it was cute and practical - had everything we could want and was a wonderful space for what we needed. Close enough to local towns but far enough removed to enjoy the peace and quiet. Anne was incredibly friendly and helpful and is a wonderful host. We highly recommend staying here, it's definitely worth it!
