  • I really enjoyed my time at Jovs place. I'm doing a charity walk from Belfast to Santiago de Compostela. Jo's house was a brilliant place to relax and rest up for the evening. I was offered Tea/coffee and a sandwich when I got in. Then a bath, which I took her up on as the legs were fairly hurting me. The bedroom was spacious, the bed comfy and her whole house a lovely vibe. In the morning I was offered an array of things for breakfast. I highly recommend staying at Jo's!

  • Judie is a lovely host, the house is great, as are all the finishing touches, just sorry i didn't have time to try out the fabulous bath. The room was lovely and cosy, with tea making facilities, and breakfast included. Two cute little doggies as well.

  • Beautiful clean house, lovely area, would stay again next time we are in the area

    Angelina2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Judie is very welcoming and helpful. Judie and Steve's house is beautifully appointed with a high end finish all round. The room looks on to the road but gives you access to your own 2 bathrooms, including a luxurious bath. The location is beautiful (the house and grounds are very attractive but on the main road) with access to walks nearby

    Chris2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • A.perfect host in a luxury home! Everything about this stay was 5*, Judie and her husband are super friendly, but also left us to our own devices. The bed was super comfortable, the huge bath was to die for! A long soak ensued! We also had a separate shower room at our disposal. Beautifully clean with lots of thoughtful touches, teas, coffee, biscuits, hairdryer, places of interest, everything was.provided for. Added to this the pub across the road does a mean roast dinner too! Highly recommended for a lovely luxury stay at a very affordable price, I wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you both for your hospitality, I hope we can return one day!

There is a cafetière and kettle in the bedroom with large selection of teas and proper ground coffee. The bed is so comfortable, the views gorgeous, the location perfect and the hosts amazing. The room was lovely and warm, couldn’t hear any noise in or out of the room and the private bathroom was outstanding. Highly recommend to anyone.

Relax in our garden house in rural Shropshire. You'll be greeted by curious cats and chickens...and probably Allan and me. There's some fabulous walks, a lovely local and some pretty market towns all within easy reach. There's also plenty to read and lots of interesting CDs to play if you prefer.
Our fabulous wooden chalet is completely self contained...and you can come and go as you please. The chalet comprises a bedroom, a shower room with a loo and a living room. There's also a small kitchen area with a fridge, microwave and sink. The bed is a double bed and our chalet is most comfortable with one or two guests. We like reading and listening to music so you'll find lots of books, and a wall of CDs in the living room. We can guarantee there'll be music that you've never heard before there. You are, of course, welcome to play the music and read the books but please don't be tempted to take any with you when you leave. There's no TV, but there's WiFi. Oh, and do look up...we hope you like our chandelier.
Snailbeach is small lead mining village in the heart of the South Shropshire hills. The miners have long since left, but the Victorian buildings still stand and are looked after by the Shropshire Mines Trust. From Snailbeach you can explore the Stiperstones, try some splendid real ale in Bishop's Castle or visit Shrewsbury's shops. Or you can throw caution to the winds and go mountain biking. Bring your own bike! Shropshire is such a beautiful place it's hard to know where to start describing the best bits. Come to stay, tell us what you like best and we'll point you in the right direction. Do try to visit our local pub while you're staying, it's great. You'll find some leaflets about the local area and a very fine book written by a local chap detailing walks all over the county. Check out Elsie's walk...she was the village post lady and her daughter lives just across the road. If you're into knitting, there's a Knit'nNatter at the pub on a Tuesday morning (with cake) and some fantastic guerrilla knitting in Bishop's Castle. And there's also a very good Morris dance team there too...
  • We came to stay for one night and couldn't have loved it more. We'll definitely be back again in the future! Genevieve and Allan are wonderful hosts. All of the incredibly thoughtful little touches made our stay so special. There was fresh milk, bread and blueberry muffins awaiting us, as well as home made marmalade! They gave us very helpful directions to the property prior to our booking and were fantastic communicators on our day of arrival. The property is right next to a Roman mine which makes this place super unique and interesting. There's wonderful walks right on your doorstep and the scenery is stunning! We ventured on a few hours long walk to the stiperstones which are incredible! Unbelievable views! We are so thankful to our hosts for all of their suggestions, tips on things to do and their thoughtfulness.

  • My partner and I loved our stay with our dog in the very cosy and homely chalet that has lots of character. Our hosts Genevieve and Alan made us very welcome and the directions were detailed, accurate and easy to follow. Modern shower room and a kitchen that had all the essentials. The cereals, muffins, fresh bread and tea and coffee provided were excellent and attention to detail was paid through the chalet. A few thousand interesting and sometimes obscure cds kept us amused for some hours in the chilled environment and next time we stay here we're hoping to spend the evenings outside under the lanterns with the cats and chickens for company. Overall a great stay in every way. Can't wait to return.

    Ellen2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Genevieve’s place was great! Full of charm and well located for hiking and walking through the beautiful surroundings! Allan was very helpful and friendly! We definitely recommend!

    Jose2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Such a unique, quirky place to say with so many homely and thoughtful touches to welcome you. Astounding scenery in the local area... you can walk up to the Stiperstones literally within a stones throw of the cabin. Hosts provide a wealth of information and their advice is worth heeding to particularly pub recommendations for food and eats. Somewhat chilly in these early months of the year but we can imagine pure bliss in the long summer evenings. A hot water bottle, lots of blankets as well as furry feline friend's and an epic cd collection are a recipe to keep you warm though! Candle lanterns in the trees appeared at the end of each day when we arrived back after our evening meal too!! A home from home! Wish we could’ve stayed longer.

    Lucy2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first time staying in an airbnb and I think the bar has been set high for future stays! When we arrived we were upgraded to the cottage which was absolutely lovely. It was very homely and had everything we needed and we thoroughly enjoyed the fresh milk, bread and muffins. We had a great time walking up long mynd and exploring the old mines. It made my partner's birthday very special! Thank you Genevieve and Allan :)

    Lily2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for a night at this lovely chalet, what a hidden gem! Amazing host, lovely atmosphere, incredibly cute cats, very hospitable and all around warm and welcoming environment! 100% would recommend. For the lovers of nature and rural surroundings this place is fantastic. We will definitely come back soon!

    Chris2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quiet retreat, a short drive from local amenities, right next to the Shropshire way for walks. Interesting to look around the old mine too. Great to have some bread and milk ready and the muffins were delicious!

Welcome to No. 16! The cottage is comfortable and homely inside...and we're pleased to tell you our shabby porch has been totally rebuilt! (hurrah!) and painted (hurrah!) It's somewhere you can put wet coats and leave muddy boots, then go into the kitchen for a cup of tea. You'll find all you need for your stay, including teas, coffee, bread, butter, jam and cereals. There's a Calor gas range cooker, a microwave, pots, pans, cutlery and stuff too.
This is a beautifully restored mining cottage in the south Shropshire hills. There's a lovely garden, and loads to explore around the area. We are trying to work towards being as green as possible, and trying to cut back on single use plastic, but as we've bought some things in bulk (bin bags and suchlike) we're not there yet. The milk comes in glass bottles from a local dairy, it's organic and not homogenised, so shake the bottle or use the top of the milk on your cereal. Please don't dispose of the bottle or the cap. We are able to refill them at Hignett's in Pontesbury. The butter we provide is organic, too. Marmalade and jam are home made ( the jam is usually made with fruit from the garden - but I've not been able to grow Seville oranges...) We will keep trying to improve on our carbon footprint!
Snailbeach was a lead mining village. Work ceased in the mid sixties, and since then the Shropshire Mines Trust have been taking care of the buildings that still stand and offer occasional trips down the mines. Just up the hill from us is Hollywood...a grove of holly trees which are in the region of 400 years old. Carry on walking and you'll reach the Stiperstones...a quartzite ridge 480 million years old. It's really amazing round here...
  • Genevieve is an amazing host! The cottage is beautiful, super cosy and spotlessly clean. It is perfectly located for some breathtaking walks and Genevieve was more than happy to give us tips on the best places to eat locally. I came away feeling very relaxed and I've discovered some new music to listen to after exploring the vast CD collection in the cottage. I can't wait to go back.

  • Second time staying at Genevieve's place. Had a wonderful time as last time. The cottage was warm & cosy with bread and muffins left for us to enjoy during our stay, as well as a great selection of tea, coffee and a large bottle of milk. The location is great for Shrewsbury and the surrounding countryside and definitely makes for a quiet weekend away. Would recommend.

We are happy to provide info about the area and as we live next door, we are easily contactable if needed

Pontesbury is a lovely village - small but with several takeaway and eat in restaurants, shops, chemist, bakery/greengrocer and some really gorgeous walks. We are very close (about 15/20 min drive) to Shrewsbury Town which is a really lovely, thriving market town with some fantastic history and a huge amount of eating places. Also nearby are the historic towns of Ludlow, Bridgnorth, Bishop's Castle and Church Stretton to name just a few. We also have several cinemas within a half hour drive, as well as a theatre and live music venues.
  • Had a fantastic one night stay at Quarry View with my partner and my dog. Pippa was a great host, very helpful and quick to respond to queries. The cottage is lovely, very homely and comes equipped with everything you might need, including tea, coffee and some breakfast provisions (bread, butter, granola), which was a nice touch. There are some amazing walks you can go on right from the doorstep, so no need to drive anywhere once you arrive. We'd be more than happy to stay at Quarry View again! Thank you for a very pleasant weekend 😊

    Natalia2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Quarry View is one of the loveliest places that I've stayed in. The decor throughout is utterly gorgeous, with wonderful pictures and paintings on the walls. Really liked all of it, and could quite easily have moved in for good! Everything you could possibly need has been thought of, the kitchen area is great and we cooked both nights we stayed and there was every utensil you could possibly need. Just really thoughtful touches from Pippa like a loaf of bread, a pint of milk, some butter and cereal left for us, made the stay even more special. The wood burner in the lounge makes it extremely cosy, and the sofa is really comfortable. The WiFi is super quick, which was great. The bed is extremely comfortable, with lovely cotton bedding. I would stay here again in a heartbeat, and hope to go back one day in the not too distant future. Thanks for everything, Pippa!

  • Very lovely little hideaway, not to far from Shrewsbury will recommend to friends.

    Adam2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place was such good value - Pippa and family have decorated the place in a lovely style and there were lots of little touches that added luxury to the stay. The house was built by her husband and must be well built because for a small annex it stayed really warm all night in cold weather without us needing to put the electric heater on past evening. There are plenty of walks to do straight from the front door and it is a lovely secluded spot surrounded by trees and hills.

  • We had a lovely stay with Kathryn! Great communication before hand and a super clean and modern apartment. Huge appreciation for the extra touches such as milk! Would definitely recommend the pub down the road for those who visit also x

  • I love staying at Kathryn's. The flat is beautiful and in stunning surroundings. I would highly recommend this place to everyone.

  • Lovely cosy apartment, that has everything you need for a short break. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware and cupboard basics such as oils and seasoning. Good location, 10/15 minutes from Shrewsbury and a short walk up the road is a nice pub where we ate at one evening. Don't follow the postcode, just use the directions Kathryn will send to you once you get to the village. I ended up outside a random farm house before stopping to read the email properly! Also, there are a few birds roaming around the grounds during the day time most of them are friendly and not interested in you at all but there was one that liked to chase us from the car to the apartment, haha! Overall a great stay.

Secluded and quaint Shepherds Hut with beautiful views of the shropshire hills. Enjoy the scenery no matter the weather with your very own log burner. The Shepherds Hut boasts tea and coffee facilities and your own shower and toilet block so you will have everything you need to escape from the rest of the world. Then when you're ready to socialise again, come and get cosy in the 16th century country inn next door!
Beautiful scenery completely off the beaten track. If you are looking for peace and quiet then my place is for you.
We reside in an area of natural beauty with incredibly rural surroundings. The locals are friendly and can often be found in the pub (in front of the hut) socialising and discussing the latest tractor model.
  • Quaint and cosy hideaway in the country. The pub is on site and serves amazing food - well worth it!!

  • Our third stay. Lovely cosy, quiet retreat. Highly recommended if you want peace and quiet and a woodburning stove!

    Emma2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay here, despite Storm Dennis changing our plans! Food and drink are served at the pub and there are a few board games there too. We ended up spending are time exploring Shrewsbury and Ironbridge on the host's recommendation and it was great. Will visit again in summer.

  • We had a lovely nights stay en route to Wales, the pub was welcoming and reasonably priced, breakfast was delicious. The views are spectacular.

A cosy cabin with ensuite set in glorious countryside very close to historic Shrewsbury town surrounded by the River Severn. Ideal for couples wanting to escape their busy lifestyles and relax. Lots of local country pubs and within a 3 minute drive we have a brilliant Indian restaurant which does take aways and a the Smoke Stop that delivers. We have friendly dogs so please feel free to take them for a walk!
  • Stopped here for a wedding and Sally picked me up and dropped me off which was incredibly kind and extremely helpful! This is the place to stay in the shrewsbury area!

  • On the outside this looks like a shed, you enter and youre in the most cosiest of spaces. Everything you would want is there, and the large bed was comfy and warm. There are lots of extra pillows, blankets, hot water bottles and slippers. It’s a little like the tardis, a little bigger than you’d expect. My hubby and I are over 6 foot and we were more than happy with the space. It’s clean and amazing value for money. I loved the hot water bottles too, and lying in bed at night, I adored the pitter patter of the rain. Sally is a lovely lady, who has a great sense of humour and was very informative too about the local area. She gave us a lovely restaurant recommendation. It was very kind of her to leave tea, milk, coffee, cereals, butter and jam too. We didn’t use all of it as we had supplies, but was not expecting it. We certainly heard a cat walking over the roof, but it kept elusive during our stay. If Staying In the area, and wanting great value for money, I’d say give this is a try. Bring a flash light for evenings, and be careful when driving to the house-lots of squirrels and birds like to walk in front of you! (Thankyou Sally) xx

I would love to visit again in the summer and take the time to explore the surrounding countryside, but even in the middle of winter it was perfect. Highly recommend.

  • The apartment is of the highest quality! You will have everything you need for a comfortable stay. You are surrounded by stunning countryside but only a short drive/bike ride or walk from lots of great places. We booked as our friends were getting married at Rowton Castle, we can recommend if you are in the same position as its great for that venue distance wise. We loved the extra touches like the welcome goodies and the bed is super comfortable.

Take a relaxing break at our modern bungalow in the beautiful Shropshire Hills. Whether you’re after fabulous walks with stunning scenery, or heart pounding mountain bike trails, Taumata makes an ideal base. Alternatively, for a less strenuous break, pretty market towns and picturesque villages are all within easy reach. Enjoy a hearty cooked breakfast while taking in the lovely views across to Long Mountain on the Welsh border. We'll do everything we can to ensure you enjoy your stay with us.
You'll find Taumata just 30 minutes south of Shrewsbury. We are in a rural location. This means there are no street lights so when it gets dark - its dark...a star gazers paradise. During the day you'll likely see buzzards and red kites which are commonly seen in the area. Although we're in the countryside, you won't be roughing it...this isn't a farm cottage...its a modern bungalow. The accommodation itself comprises a carpeted en-suite double room which is situated at the far end of our bungalow (which can be accessed via a separate entrance). It has lovely views of the garden and up to the chimney on Resting Hill, which lies along the Shropshire Way. You are very welcome to use the garden and there is a BBQ if you feel like preparing something. Alternatively, you can just sit out and enjoy a few drinks in the early evening during the warmer months. The room has a double bed which is suitable for single guests or couples. If you’re looking for a place to holiday with your pets and/or children, sorry this is not the right place for you. The room has Freeview TV, excellent wifi connection and USB charging point for your devices. Depending on when you arrive, there are various options for an evening meal. The local pub has a varied menu and and runs a great quizz night on the last Monday of the month... and the locals are very friendly and will make you feel welcome. There is a selection of sit down restaurants or take aways within easy driving distance including Indian, Chinese, pizza or fish and chips . We offer a cooked breakfast and for a small additional cost, we can provide an evening meal and packed lunch for walkers if you let us know in advance so just ask. As far as what to do while you're here - this is a great base for walkers. The Shropshire Way passes quite near the house or there's loads of of other walks for all abilities - from a gentle stroll through Eastridge Woods (which is just 5 minutes from the back gate) to longer walks along the Stiperstones and Long Mynd. If two wheels is more your thing, you'll find a great range of BMX trails in all directions. Snailbeach is also the site of Britain's best preserved lead mine. When the mine is open there is no charge for looking around the site or buildings but a small charge is made for a fascinating guided tour of the underground workings. This usually takes place on the first Sunday of the month between May - October. Taumata makes an ideal base for exploring the market towns of Ludlow, Bishop Castle, Church Stretton, Bridgenorth and of course Shrewsbury.
  • Easily the most wonderful Airbnb experience I have had. Margaret and Greg are incredible hosts, literally they couldn’t have done more to make me feel welcome and comfortable! Absolutely recommend staying there, I would happily!

  • Greg and Margaret were the most gracious hosts! The ensuite is absolutely perfect and we had a great nights rest here. We had dinner at the recommended local Pub - ribs, fried mushrooms, and sticky pudding were great. In the morning Margaret blessed us with a fabulous and filling breakfast, and they gave us some great tips on what route to take thru the high points of Shropshire- which turned out to be the most enjoyable day of our trip. Be sure to see the Fell ponies and hiking to the Peak of Manstone. The Snailbeach mine site is cool too. Would love to stay here again, and have more time to explore this beautiful area. Did we mention, the view from the breakfast table is stunning!

  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Greg's and Margaret's place for a couple of days. Their hospitality made us feel comfortable and welcome. They also shared their knowledge of the local area, which made for some great hikes and walks. The location itself was just perfect to getaway from the buzz of the city. Nice and quiet, with a beautiful view, amazing sunsets as well as the starry skies at night. We can only give our warmest recommendations!

Family house in beauty spot of wild, hilly country 30 mins south of Shrewsbury. Double bed. Shared bathroom. Self assembly breakfast. Brilliant base for countryside lovers, walkers, bikers.
This is a family home in a quiet hide away beauty spot. Our village is well serviced and a welcoming community, well and truly off the beaten track and a place of peace and quiet, walks and hills, buzzards and contemplation, stories and conversation.
Everyone will say in Shropshire that Stiperstones is a unique and special village and community, geographically and culturally. It looks sleepy on a quick drive through... but there's always something bubbling up here, we are an active, friendly, warm and welcoming village. The pub and shop are family run and a hub for our community and they do great food and cater to all tastes.
  • Sally is really friendly and hospitable. Her local knowledge is superb, and the house is comfortable.

    Rich2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • It is a lovely room with a view. Warm, comfy & very welcoming with good knowledge of the area.

  • Sally was an incredible host. A really interesting lady and had lots to talk about. She made me feel at home and very welcomed. I would recommend to anybody in the area

    Matthew2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Sally's place is ideally placed for walkers wanting to walk the Stiperstones trails which start nearby. The house is welcoming and cosy with a nice room looking out to the views. It is very quiet surroundings with a great pub only 3 or 4 mins walk away and a corner shop next door. My only improvement would be a slightly better mattress, and maybe there not being personal items stored in the room but it's great other than that!

    Chris2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Sally has been very welcoming and she speaks French ! I recommand 100%.

    Alex2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Sally's place is what AirBnB should be about - a lovely host and a proper family home. It's a great part of the country to explore too.

    Antony2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment the front door opened I knew that it was going to be a great stay. Sally is super friendly and welcoming, the house was clean and warm, it felt just like being at home. The views from the bedroom were spectacular, the bed was super comfortable and the use of all the facilities within the house were just fine, it really was a case of "make yourself at home". Breakfast things were ready for me first thing in the morning regardless of whether Sally was there or not. The cats were so cute and friendly, two additional friends to boast about now. Once the log burner was going on the colder evening, it was easy to stay in, read and chill. Sally loves to interact with her guests and has a wealth of knowledge on the area, plus her conversational topics are varied and interesting, as was the play I went to see her perform in. Her friends also engaged in good conversation and made the stay even more interesting, it was as though I was a friend in the first place. I'll definitely be returning when I'm back in the country and highly recommend that you check it out. It was my first Airbnb stay and I'm so happy to have taken the plunge in what can honestly be described as the absolute highlight of my holiday.

  • Sally and her son were very nice and friendly. The room was good, and she put out breakfast for us--cereal, coffee to make, and bread for toast. She recommended the pub maybe 10 doors down, and it was delicious. We met another couple whom we talked to about travel experiences, and had a great time. THANKS.

Sunny ground floor of a converted chapel. Sitting high up in the beautiful Shropshire hills - ANOB. Driving distance to Shrewsbury & Bishops Castle. Open plan, fully equipped luxury kitchen, Oak beams & leaded windows. En-suite. Wild walking
If you love to walk, there are lots of fabulous hikes straight from the front door! 'This is an area of outstanding natural beauty', only 10 minutes walk from the 'Stiperstones' ridge, which is steeped in history & folklore. There is a local pub within walking distance, wonderful to incorporate into a days exploring. Shropshire is a stunningly beautiful and still unspoilt county, full of wild places and quaint villages. We have maps & information for your use.
  • The perfect getaway. Ivor was very welcoming and gave us great information of the area, there was also a wealth of literature in the apartment too.. The apartment was really cosy, perfect space for two, great kitchen area, comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. WiFi worked perfectly too. The location was amazing just a walk up the dirt track and you were on the stiperstones with the devil's chair right in front of you. Great walks to left or right. Both times we found the route down to the very welcoming Stiperstones pub in the village which had fabulous food and great Guinness.

    Roslyn2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic apartment in a really special location.

    Shelley2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Mt Zion and its host Ivor made our stay more than comfortable - truly a home from home. As some other reviews have mentioned - and as described in the listing - the apartment is on a rugged road on a slope . Our city car managed, with care, but a car with higher clearance or an SUV/off-roader/4x4 would have made the 100 yards or so of that rugged drive a no brainer. Basically it's doable. The walks and countryside near the area and within walking distance are worth it! And there are several country towns worth a visit. In fact, there's a lot to do in the vicinity. I would recommend this especially for those who really want peace and quiet away from the hussle and bustle of urban life.

    Jenina2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fabulous flat and location! The flat has lots of character and is perfectly finished and clean. The place is great if you're looking for tourism off the beaten track - great views from up the hill, also some lovely little villages around.

    Alex2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful rural retreat. Perfectly located for a self catering walking weekend. The flat was spotless and really well equipped. We cooked each night and had everything we needed. Lots of walking info available which was handy and Ivor was a great host. Quick to respond and easy check-in process.

    Jen2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a fantastic stay in Ivor's beautifully converted chapel. The location was perfect for exploring the Shropshire countryside including the Stiper stones and the Long Mynd. The place was well equipped and very clean. The track up to the chapel is very steep and bumpy but definitely manageable. We had a great stay and would highly recommend.

    Aimée2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay. Lovely location. Make sure you drive the Long Mynd. The place was clean, quiet and had everything we needed. Bed was comfy, sofa was great for chilling. Highly recommended to anyone who needs to chill out and relax x

  • This is a beautiful property in a remote, quiet location. Ivor has provided everything you need for a relaxing stay. The apartment is incredibly clean and beautifully decorated. The walks from the door take you straight up to the Stiperstones Ridge with breathtaking views in all directions. The nearest pub (The Stiperstones Inn, walkable in 20 mins or so), offers a very warm welcome and serves large, hearty meals.

Shropshire maybe one of England's quiet counties but don't be deceived; there's still plenty to see and do. Shropshire has over 90 places to visit - historic houses and castles with beautiful gardens, the famous Ironbridge, museums and family attractions. There are many traditional market towns including gourmet Ludlow and the county town of Shrewsbury. Shrewsbury almost surrounded by the River Severn and birthplace of Charles Darwin, is a medieval delight of black and white buildings. The Shropshire landscape reflects the fact that Shropshire is geologically unique and creates the special habitats that ensures that Shropshire wildlife is so diverse. All this adds up to making Shropshire great walking country. So whether you're out and about on the Shropshire Hills, by the Meres and Mosses or strolling along with the Shropshire Union and Llangollen Canals you can guarantee the Shropshire air will rejuvenate and restore you.
  • Jo's cottage is in a stunning location with beautiful views from the house and garden. It is quiet and really relaxing. • Fantastic place to stay. Very quiet and stunning walks from the back garden! Jo is a fab host who is welcoming, but also happy to leave you to do your own thing. You must try the Stables Inn if you want to experience local food and local people!

  • We had a fantastic stay at Heron Cottage. This really is a great house. It was just the 2 of us, but there is also a large twin room. The cottage is located in a stunning spot with amazing views all around you. Hikes from the door, or a very short drive(10 mins) through beautiful countryside to some of the best walks in Shropshire. The cottage really is a gem. Great value. Perfect. Bedroom is amazing, feels luxury. Kitchen is great, well provisioned. Jo is a very friendly and helpful host. Always on hand if needed but not at all intrusive. This is an absolutely perfect base for exploring the Shropshire Hills.

  • This is a wonderful cottage set in a beautiful location. The cottage is warm and welcoming, comfortable and cosy. It was spotlessly clean, and well equipped with everything you would need for a relaxing stay. A perfect spot for social distancing!

  • Great communication and welcome from Jo, without any awkwardness of standing on ceremony. The cottage is exactly as described but with more space in the lounge and main bedroom than we could have imagined. The storage heaters were incredibly effective and we were never cold (despite cold temperatures outside), although the electric wood stove-effect heater was a lovely addition for a cosy evening in. The kitchen is well equipped and the cottage and its location have a lovely charm. There were lots of birds to watch from the breakfast table in the lounge, with views towards the local hills, and Jo had provided a good range of books (local interest and reading) and maps as well as DVDs and jigsaws/games. Having allergies ourselves, we appreciated the foam pillows and fibre duvet (i.e. not feather). There is very good walking locally, and amenities are all a drive away which makes for a very rural stay. The hamper Jo provides was very handy and welcome. I also enjoyed meeting the two resident dogs who were occasionally in the yard (and who got on well with our dog); if anyone is ever worried about dogs bounding up to them, all these two wanted was love and fuss but also responded well to being ignored. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Curlew cottage or to rebook in future.

  • A very comfortable place ideal for two people, beautifully warm and cosy even during Storm Dennis. Fully recommend taking up the offer of a breakfast hamper, we had enough for both of us for two days. Every thing you need is there and Jo can provide local advice.

    Richard2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoyed a wonderfully cosy weekend stay with boyfriend. The cottage is extremely comfortable. The sofas are perfect for lounging in Infront of the fire and the super king bed is heavenly. The towels were soft and fluffy and the linen crisp. Everything was very clean. Contact with Jo was outstanding. She was very helpful and friendly. We ordered a breakfast hamper which was delicious and good value. There was also a lovely lemon cake for us on arrival and plenty of tea/coffee etc. As the weather was bad we did not explore as we hoped but will hopefully return.

This bedroom has patio doors where the evening sun floods in, en-suite shower room and antique French king size bed. At the bottom of the stairs is the downstairs toilet and washing machine. The split staircase takes you to the southwest facing bedroom in the eaves with two single beds. On the other side of the lovely beam is the family bathroom with a shower over the bath. The Master bedroom has a luxurious super king bed which can convert to 2 single beds if required. This has a large walk in, well lit wardrobe. The calming colours make this a tranquil room complemented by the birdsong and morning sun (hopefully). The brook, just beyond the garden has a ford and a footbridge so is lovely for a 5 min evening stroll to play pooh sticks or let the dogs have a swim. • Ideal place for us. It was away from all the hustle and bustle, but still close enough to local amenities that we could walk to a shop or pub. The place itself had everything we needed, cooking facilities, lovely shower and central heating at whatever our desired temperature was... which is great when you have been out in the cold all day... We had a great stay here. Thanks for making us so welcome, Miles. Take care. Wayne

In fact we could have quite happily stayed here for a week or more. It was very clean, well presented and homely. The space itself is huge too - feels like you have a whole semi detached house to yourself! We highly recommend it!

  • Very highly recommended, very spacious townhouse-like annex on two floors. Delightful villages surrounding this location, with points of interest nearby as well as a little further afield, to vary time spent there. We enjoyed the stylish aspects to this immaculately clean space, as well as the comfort available to rest, spread out in the amazingly sized living area, or sitting on the sofa in the upstairs bedroom. Lovely thoughtful hosts answered all our queries straight away. Not least, great off-street parking.

We are also only 20 minutes drive from the world famous Ironbridge, the birth place of industry. The location is very convenient for Shrewsbury but lovely and rural overlooking hills in the distance. The directions from the hosts made it easy to find. There was a very good WiFi connection. We would definitely consider staying here again if we come back to do some more exploring.

  • We used this as a base while we visited a number of national trust properties and walks in the area. Tempted by the “quirky” look in the photos. Proved to be an excellent choice – Katrina and her team made us most welcome, the bed comfortable, excellent wet room, very good breakfast!! The campsite itself appeared 5 star, although we were out and about most of the time we did have an enjoyable pizza one night. All in all, we highly recommend this, particularly if the weather is warm and sunny.

  • A fabulous spot for exploring Shrewsbury, Shropshire and beyond with thoughtful hosts. We were 2 adults and 1 toddler, staying 3 nights for a family wedding in the area. The property offered flexible accommodation with a separate lounge to the front on the ground floor providing a second bedroom for our little one to sleep in while we enjoyed the super comfy super sized bed in the main bedroom with ensuite upstairs. Netflix and WiFi and a downstairs loo, glorious coffee pods and great local info and welcome folder were all great perks. Our toddler loved being able to play in the garden too. It felt very safe and private.

  • A really nice home in a tranquil location. The hosts are great and really quick to respond to any needs. I would definitely stay again if I was in the area.

  • Suzie’s annexe is very well equipped and comfortable and within easy reach of Shrewsbury and surrounding villages and attractions and Suzie is lovely host. We stayed with our one year old, he slept in the lounge and we were still able to relax and watch some Netflix in the lovely sunroom. Views from the main bedroom upstairs are lovely. Recommend a trip to Acton Scott Historic Farm with little ones, we had a wonderful day there. We also had takeaway from the Lea Cross tandoori just up the road which was really good.

  • Suzie’s flat is wonderful and clean. It has almost everything you need! The directions to find the key and get inside the flat is easy and simple. However, my 9 year girl found it like a treasure hunt game😁! Recommend for people visiting there!

My place is our family home, currently available for rent because we are working away. It's close to The Shropshire Hills National Park, has great walking opportunities, locally and in Wales, but only 20 minutes from Shrewsbury. Although best for car owners it's on a bus route too. You’ll love the views, the rural location, and the homely atmosphere. It's a really good base for a countryside holiday but would be equally good for people working in Shrewsbury, Telford/Wolverhampton or Welshpool.
This is an old Farmhouse, with old and traditional furniture and fittings such as an oil fired aga, open fires/woodburners and a large and rambling garden. It comfortably sleeps 9 people but there are sofa beds and z-beds, and space to accomodate more if you wish. The whole house is available for guest use, including a large cellar, which is an extension of the kitchen. There is an electric cooker there for those nervous of aga cooking (which is a fixed temperature). And there is oil fired central heating too, so it is quite warm. There is a ground floor bedroom with a desk space and wifi for guests who want to work. And there are two reception rooms with wood burners, and a TV.
The house is on the edge of a hamlet with 3 farms and approximately 20 other houses, overlooking the Rea valley. The nearest shop (general store) and Post Office is 1 mile and a half (walkable), where there is also a doctors surgery, a community hall, a church and a pub.
  • Lovely place and very accommodating and neighbours were friendly! Offers a great view too!

  • Just spent a wonderful family Christmas at this quirky, spacious and comfortable farmhouse. We loved the log burners, the large dining table and fridge and the way the place was always warm. Some of the fixtures and fittings are a little tired but we were impressed with the bathrooms and the general big group vibe - think good for a party but also cosy, with wonderful views and walks on your doorstep. Also the fact that Holly was a great communicator and arranged a tree for us was really lovely. Thank you 😊
