Places to stay in Little Gaddesden
This cosy luxurious self contained oak frame cabin offers the perfect peaceful setting for a relaxing getaway. Listen out and you may hear the owls at night. Backing onto the National Trust Ashridge Forest, this is perfect for outdoor lovers but equally suitable for a romantic night in. 1.5 miles down the road, the popular market town of Berkhamsted is offering atmospheric pubs and bars for a special treat out. The cabin offers comfortable, spacious living with King size bed.
Although the cabin is within the grounds of the main property, it is completely separated off by thick hedge rows to offer complete privacy to our guests. A path alongside the house leads the guests to their own entrance of the cabin. This cabin features all you need for a comfortable stay- a small bathroom with shower facility, a spacious open plan living room, an open plan kitchen with a hob and convection microwave oven grill and a comfortable King Size bed on the Mezzanine level, accessed by a ladder. It is furnished with cosy lighting, two comfortable sofas and a dining table. The cabin features a TV as well as a large DVD selection and Hi-Fi system. Kitchen: We also provide utensils so that our guests can choose to stay in and prepare their own meal if they wish. The back gate allows you to walk straight into the woods to explore 5000 acres of deer filled forest and its other wildlife. A 20 minute walk away you may wish to refresh yourself in the upmarket and cosy pub, the Alford Arms, in the idyllic Frithsden Valley where they even have their own vineyard. The cabin is only 1.5 miles away from the popular and trendy town centre of Berkhamsted, featuring a range of lively pubs and restaurants.
Our cosy little wood cabin is backing straight onto the woods, located in a quiet setting of the sleepy village Potten End, just minutes away from popular old market town Berkhamsted. You can literally walk out of the back gate into the woods and explore the nature. Here are a few tips and activities in the area: Ashridge Estate - a 5,000 acre area of the Chiltern Hills with beech and oak woodlands, commons and chalk downlands. These very different landscapes each support a rich variety of wildlife, including carpets of bluebells in spring, rare butterflies in summer and the fallow deer that rut in autumn. You can walk out of the back gate of the property into the woods and explore Miles of footpaths and bridleways. Frithsden Vineyard – Literally a 30 minute walk through the woods, and you will get to this beautiful boutique English vineyard and winery set in the foothills of the Chilterns. Besides a range of regular seasonal events you can also pass by and enjoy some of their home produced wines. Berkhamsted Town centre and Castle – have a stroll through Berkhamsted highstreet and explore Berkhamsted Castle's remains. The town has a special place in our history: following the Saxon defeat at the Battle of Hastings, it was at Berkhamsted that the bishops and noblemen formally offered William the Conqueror the crown. The Rex – "possibly Britain's most beautiful cinema" (BBC), the Rex has one huge screen set in a glorious 1938 art-deco proscenium arch, with "the sharpest film projection and clearest non-booming sound anywhere in the world". The whole experience is delightfully civilized: sink into large, comfortable seats then sit back with cheese and wine to enjoy the film. Berkhamsted Waterways Walk – Go for a walk along the River Bulbourne andGrand Union Canal which run through the town and enjoy a cold drink in the popular Boat pub. Tring Natural History Museum – 5 miles from Berkhamsted. The wonderful galleries of this beautiful Victorian museum present a fascinating range of animals, from tiny dressed fleas to a smiling polar bear and domestic dogs. The Snow Centre – 5 miles from Berkhamsted. Britain's newest snow centre at Hemel Hempstead is currently the coolest place to go to enjoy skiing, snowboarding and other snow sports on indoor slopes of real snow. The main slope is 160m long and 30m wide, serviced by two POMA button lifts. The trainer slope is 100m long, with two rope tows. There are lessons for everyone new to snow, and clothing and equipment is on hand to hire. Whipsnade Zoo – 9 miles from Berkhamsted. Set on the slopes of the Chiltern Hills, the UK's biggest zoo is home to more than 2,500 animals, many of which are endangered in the wild. Whipsnade is noted for creating interactive and inspiring exhibits and popular daily events including keeper talks, animal feeds and demonstrations. You can drive through the 'Passage through Asia' or take the free Safari bus which stops at all the main exhibits in the 600 acre site. Harry Potter, Warner Bros. Studio Tour – the Making of Harry Potter – 9.7 miles from Berkhamsted. A visit to the Harry Potter World offers you an insight behind the scenes to showcase a huge array of beautiful sets, costumes and props and to reveal the secrets of the special effects and animatronics that made these films hugely popular all over the world.

  • The cabin is a unique and secluded find; perfect for couples after a cosy getaway. The cabin’s amenities are well thought out and the whole place was spotless. Checking in and out was super simple. The surrounding area has plenty to offer and guests who are new to the area are provided with plenty of useful info. We loved our stay here.

  • We will definitely be returning, and hopefully when the weather is better - the only thing that could have topped our stay is if the sun was shining!

  • Lilli’s oak cabin is beautiful. Privately situated next to a pretty woodland, it is warm, cosy peaceful and has a special quality of being both rustic and elegant. It has everything you’d need to feel at home, as well as some lovely additonal touches. The surrounding countryside, quaint old towns and villages are stunning. Perfect for a romantic getaway.

Beautiful 4 bed bungalow situated in stunning countryside. There are two great village pubs that offer evening meals. If your looking for a quite space, then look no further! We are home most of the time but tend to keep ourselves out of the way when we have guests. Please note over a weekend my minimum numbers are 8 people, and we can cater up to 14 people but this involves the use of the living room as an additional bedroom.
Beautiful 4 bed house in Studham, Bedfordshire, only 15 mins from a mainline train station which links directly to London in only 35 mins. PLEASE NOTE: THE POOL IS ONLY HEATED BETWEEN MAY AND SEPTEMBER, outside these months the pool is UNAVAILABLE. House benefits from large open plan living, indoor heated swimming pool, 4 large double bedrooms, home theatre system and a very large garden which is home to a bunch of chickens and roosters, 2 cats, a pond full of fish and 2 Alpacas! The property is located in a traditional English village, located near Whipsnade Zoo and about 10 mins by car to Luton Airport. What to see and do : Gliding club Whipsnade park Golf Club Plenty of country walks Ivinghoe Beacon Dunstable Downs - great for kite flying and pic-nics! Award winning Village pubs, providing evening meals and also do cooked breakfast on a weekend Cycle rides Ashridge country park Horse riding - Ashridge Horse Trecking Indoor Ski Slope - Hemel Hempstead Breakfast consisting of cereals, toast, tea and coffee will be provided. Also able to provide portable beds if you wanted additional beds in any of the rooms for the children. You will also have access to shared kitchen, living space and very large garden. Please note, all the bedrooms have two doors - one normal door leading into the bedroom from the main hall way in the house and a set of patio doors leading out onto the pool. These patio doors can be locked and the key removed if you are worried about the children wondering into the pool area without supervision! You will have your own private bathroom although this is not en -suite. However I will only let out to one party at a time so you will never be sharing a bathroom with strangers! If you are a large party don’t worry we have 3 bathrooms plus 2 additional WC rooms so you will never be short of a shower or loo! PLEASE NOTE: THE POOL IS ONLY HEATED BETWEEN MAY AND SEPTEMBER, outside these months the pool is UNAVAILABLE. During the winter months we usually empty the pool for maintenance, however I will make sure that the spa pool is nice and hot for you if you request it! When the pool is heated the hot tub is available for an additional fee. Pets are NOT allowed I have a travel cot and high chair available for babies. Please note - I do have two cats so if you are allergic then I don't think this will be the best place for you. Although the cats are generally not allowed into the bedrooms.
Lovely traditional English village with 2 great pubs, surrounded by beautiful countryside with easy access to London.
  • My four girls and I spent five nights at Liesa’s house. We were made to feel very welcome. Her house is amazing! The girls loved feeding the animals and gathering eggs. Liesa goes above and beyond to make your stay special. An example of this was the time she spent teaching my youngest to knit. Chloe was absolutely delighted with the flower they made together. We have already booked our next stay!

    Angela2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and good comfy beds. Very accommodating host.

    Iain2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great couple of nights in an amazing home. The beds were really comfy, the hot tub was great, lots of firdge/storage space for food that we got delivered from Tesco to the house. There was 12 of us and we were a very loud bunch and Liesa was very understanding of this. Could not fault the trip at all and would deffinitely recommend, either for big groups or a nice couple's retreat to the countryside. On New Years day we all went on a walk and Liesa recommended a great route, which ended at the lovely Bell pub a short walk down the road from the house. The animals are cute and we felt really at home. The kitchen is great for big group meals to cook and plenty of space to dance! All in all a perfect stay.

  • Great host. The house was amazing. Highly recommended

    Philip2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Liesa has an incredible house. Her attention to the details and clever decoration ideas transformed our stay into a once in a lifetime experience. Hopefully we can repeat this one day! ;)

    Victor2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The 5-star reviews on this place are no joke---indeed, they are most accurate. The place is beautiful with plenty of fun and relaxation to be had inside and outside. The house is gorgeous with a spacious and comfortable living room, large dining space, decent sized swimming pool, and a hot-tub. There are really nice and quaint local pubs and stunning countryside walks. If you didn't already feel like you would have sufficient activities, there are multiple geocaching spots and a wildlife park within a short distance. Eight of us spent the weekend here for a stag-do and had a fantastic time. I couldn't recommend this place more highly.

A quiet retreat in a beautiful village not too far from London in Little Gaddesden near Berkhamsted you will find this 5 bedroom Coach House. It is on the outskirts of Ashridge - which was King Henry the 8th's hunting lodge. The house has private access to the unspoilt and often unknown 5000 acres deer park known as Ashridge. It is perfect for walkers and cyclists.
Fabulous location for walkers and cyclists. Walking in Ashridge is amazing. See link from National Trust for various walks around the estate. (URL HIDDEN)
Little Gaddesden From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia St. Peter and St. Paul Church at Little Gaddesden, where many Egerton family members are buried in the Bridgewater Chapel Little Gaddesden is a village and civil parish in the English county of Hertfordshire three miles north of Berkhamsted. As well as Little Gaddesden village (population 694), the parish contains the settlements of Ashridge (population 53), Hudnall (population 139), and part of Ringshall (population 81).[1] The total population at the 2011 Census was 1,125.[2] Part of the parish was formerly in Buckinghamshire. This includes Witchcraft Bottom, notable as the alleged location where the last witch in Buckinghamshire was tried and hanged. The village of Little Gaddesden borders both Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire, whilst being situated in the county of Hertfordshire. Little Gaddesden and the surrounding area of the Ashridge Estate is owned and managed by the National Trust. This area has been used in many films, notably: First Knight, Stardust, the Harry Potter series, Son of Rambow and more recently Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe. TV programmes filmed here include Marchlands, Midsomer Murders Lewis, Cranford, and a Jamie Oliver[3] advertisement for Sainsburys. Little Gaddesden has many period properties, of note: Ashridge House, (designed by Sir James Wyattville along with gardens and grounds designed by Sir Humphrey Repton and Capability Brown - Golden Valley) The Manor House situated on the Green along with John O’Gaddesden House and Marian House, Little Gaddesden House along Nettleden Road heading towards the hamlet of Nettleden and the Old Rectory past the village shop heading to Ringshall. Lamsey Farm - (URL HIDDEN) - 193359 The Ashridge Estate that surrounds the village is a 5,000-acre (20 km2) area of open countryside and woodland on the edge of the Chiltern Hills, with a rich variety of wildlife including fallow dear, muntjac and the renowned red kite. There are large areas of mature woodlands with carpets of spring bluebells and fine autumnal displays, along with the panorama from the Bridgewater Monument. In the early 17th century, Thomas Egerton, 1st Viscount Brackley, had purchased Ashridge House, one of the largest country houses in England, from Queen Elizabeth I, who had inherited it from her father who had appropriated it after the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1539. Ashridge House served the Egerton family as a residence until the 19th century. The Egertons later had a family chapel (the Bridgewater Chapel) with burial vault in Little Gaddesden Church,[4] where many monuments commemorate the Dukes and Earls of Bridgewater and their families.[5] Among those buried here is the 3rd Duke of Bridgewater,[6] famous as the originator of British inland navigation and the Bridgewater Canal. Little Gaddesden is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and a Conservation Area protected by the National Trust. There is a vigorous community life with 30 different clubs and societies. The oldest of these is probably the Women's Institute (founded in 1919) and the Royal British Legion. Local amenities include the famous Ashridge Golf Course, Alford Arms public house, Bridgewater Arms public house, Little Gaddesden village shop and post office, Munn's Farm Shop, Grove Farm, Little Gaddesden Primary School, Little Gaddesden Cricket Club, Ivinghoe Beacon, Pitstone Windmill, Frithsden Vineyard, Gaddesden Place, the Gaddesden Estate, Walter Swinburn racing stables, Stocks House, Ashridge Business School also known as Ashridge House, London Gliding Club, Dunstable Downs and Whipsnade Zoo. Nearby villages and Hamlets: Aldbury, Great Gaddesden, Gaddesden Row, Frithsden, Nettleden, Potten End, Ivinghoe, Northchurch, Ringshall, Studham, Dudswell, Wigginton, Dagnall, Flamstead. Local residents are kept updated on events in Little Gaddesden through the Gaddesden Diary, published seasonally. The Parish News also provides a further summary. Famous residents who live in the village, include: football commentator John Motson, Formula One driver Mark Webber,[7] ex-footballers Luther Blissett and Tim Sherwood, actor Adrian Scarborough, news correspondent Fiona Bruce and radio presenter Roger Bolton. Singer Sarah Brightman was brought up in the village. Entrepreneur and founder of Barenaturals Darcey Croft, was born and raised in the village, Ronnie Wood, a member of the Rolling Stones, owns a house in the village.
  • Thank you Jan for a fabulous stay at your lovely home. Just celebrated my wife’s 60th birthday at the coach house and had a wonderful time. Your extra touches were much appreciated and helped to make our stay much more memorable. Looking forward to staying again in the future. Barry & Jean

    Barry2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend the house for a great get away, the house is amazing and Jan provides a lovely welcome. Would happily have stayed for longer and explored the area more.

  • They can expect a great stay in a lovely rural location. It feels very homely!

    Kate2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • An incredible, beautiful venue with plenty of room, great for our group of friends during some particularly rainy weekend. Janette is an incredible host providing us with a lovely lasagne and loads of breakfast food. We were really impressed. Unfortunately there was a little trouble with the hot tub, but we were kept up to date by Janette and we were still able to thoroughly relax and enjoy ourselves. We would definitely return again.

  • Jan and her Airbnb are lovely! Jan was full of helpful suggestions and quick with communication. The Airbnb looks fab, was really toasty and has great communal spaces perfect for larger groups. Thanks for a lovely stay Jan!

    Blaire2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fabulous weekend at Jan's place. Everything was really wonderful and it couldn't have been better. Jan left a fantastic hamper for us with breakfast goodies, fizz and lasagne for supper too which was very well received and we loved it. The house is really lovely and warm and the hot tub a real treat too. The location was perfect with a great pub within walking distance for a post hike reward. The local surroundings are gorgeous and we really enjoyed stretching our legs. The local shop is very handy for any extras you may need. We had a fantastic Chinese take away with very prompt delivery service. A really fabulous touch was the Alexas! We had forgotten ours but luckily the house had not just one but too and so we had music to while away the hours relaxing in front of the roaring fire. Thank you Jan for a super weekend and we will most definitely return as it was the perfect country retreat for this group of mums on tour xx

    Jacqueline2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house in lovely area. Surprisingly good for young children, not having stairs to worry about, and having such a great garden (especially in summer). Communication with Janette was excellent and she went the extra mile preparing cot, highchair etc. We were greeted with a selection of foodstuffs so that you don't immediately have to dash out to buy things. Beds comfortable with beautiful bed linen and a lovely sitting area. Would happily recommend it.

  • Our stay (houseparty) for my daughter's 30th birthday weekend with family and friends was beyond expectations. The accommodation is very versatile and top draw (we loved the Aga in the kitchen). Our hosts Sandra and Michael were so helpful whilst remaining unobtrusive. We had dinner prepared and served for us on the Saturday night and the food was excellent. We are working out when we can return for another stay!

    Andrew2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely house and grounds right next to the zoo. We felt very welcome and the space is relaxing for a family break. Sandra thought of everything we might need and even bought some flowers for our special anniversary. Would definitely recommend.

    Carol2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Very good quality accommodation, close to Harry Potter Studios and Tring Station which serves London very easily. This accommodation has the advantage of quiet staying close to the sites we wanted to visit. Address to advise!

    David2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • The place is outstanding.. Sandra is very kind.

    Mazita2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing house, beautiful gardens and fantastic location. Exceeded our expectations for a family celebration. Sandra was fantastic at answering my questions and giving advice before our arrival and the fact our shopping was delivered and unpacked when we got there was a great touch. There are some house rules to be mindful of, and one which we weren’t made aware of until our second day (children were not allowed in the area of garden directly outside the kitchen, main dining room and sitting room). We were not made aware of this before booking or during our welcome tour and may not have selected the accommodation based on this as our party included children. That said we would happily recommend this beautiful house, with lovely hosts (and a fantastic swimming pool!)

    Jessica2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Frog Corner, celebrating my Mum’s 70th birthday. The house is spotless and really lovely and unique. The grounds are beautiful and the children loved exploring in a safe, but exciting space. We loved the swimming pool and Lucky the dog!

    Eleanor2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Sandra and Michael are very friendly people and not to forget their lovely dog, Lucky. The house is full of character and spacious . Big garden to stroll around and relax was a big plus. We would definitely come again. Thank you both!

Julia goes well beyond expectations to ensure you have a great stay. * As advertised, be aware that arriving at the cottage after 4:30pm will likely mean you are not able to park within a couple hundred yards. On-street spaces are available during working hours, but do ensure luggage is off-loaded before the evening rush!*

  • Abigail's place is beautifully furnished, stylish and comfortable, with everything you could need for a trip away. I stayed for a work conference but wish I could have stayed longer and enjoyed it more. Abigail has thought of everything and was very friendly and communicative in the run-up to my stay, and made everything very easy. I hope I can come back soon!

  • I found Abigail to be welcoming , friendly and accommodating. The annex is just what it says... small and cosy.

A luxury self-contained cottage in quiet hamlet in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Within 45 minutes of central London. Beautiful walks and cycling straight from the property.
  • This is a real find! Right in the middle of the beautiful Chilterns, but very near to larger towns such as Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead, this is a perfect getaway. The cottage is stunning and equipped with everything you need. We were so well taken care of and there were lots of thoughtful gestures which made us feel at home. I would highly recommend!

  • Decent sized room in a family home, with the bathroom just across the corridor. Breakfast being included was nice and Chris helpful and welcoming. If you like dogs then there's a bonus in the form of the very well behaved and friendly cockapoo Fozzy!

  • We had a great experience stopping over for a single night in this pleasant room in Chris' wonderful family home. Ever helpful, friendly and respectful of our privacy, Chris and family were perfect hosts. Plus, Fozzy the dog made us feel extra specially welcome. It's a perfect location for walks in Ashridge Estate and for quick access to London from the very-nearby Tring station. Thanks guys!

The Garden Room at The Old Bakehouse. Self contained with independent access we have everything you need for a comfortable stay - high quality bedlinen; en suite bathroom with White Company toiletries; Nespresso machine; sunny breakfast space. On the edge of the Chilterns, a short drive from Tring Station, three trains an hour to London. Local attractions include Whipsnade Zoo, Tring Museum, The Making of Harry Potter at Leavesden Studios, Bletchley Park, Waddesdon Manor and the Ashridge Estate.
The Old Bakehouse was built around 1840 and The Garden Room was converted in 2018 from our office and shed. The bed is a handmade four poster UK king size with new Caspar mattress and good quality bedlinen, bedside lights, Kettle and Nespresso coffee machine, Sophie Conran crockery, White Company toiletries. We have a child's travel cot and a child's inflatable bed, but there's not much room although children are welcome. Before our time the privies for all five cottages (now only two) stood here. The Bakehouse was a two storey wooden building added on to the row, housing a communal bread oven for the cottages to reduce the risk of fire. In the 1980 the bakehouse was converted to the current main house sitting room and master bedroom. Access to Old Bakehouse is by foot from Chequers Lane along a short path in front of the adjoining house and through the gate pictured. Parking is in the street right outside. We'll make sure the nearest space is available for you. We are happy for dogs to stay so long as they have their own bed with them. Although all at ground floor level we are not DDA compliant.
The villages of Pitstone and Ivinghoe are at the foot of the Chiltern Hills. The modern Pitstone Green business park is a short walk away, but the most famous landmarks are Pitstone windmill and Ivinghoe Beacon. This is an excellent location for walkers, just a short step up to the Ridgeway national long distance footpath, ending at Ivinghoe Beacon, or the National Trust's Ashridge Estate 5000 acres of beech woodland. If you prefer to stay on the level, the Grand Union Canal and its subsidiaries can take you on the towpath to Tring Reservoirs or the nearby market towns of Wendover, Aylesbury, Leighton Buzzard and Berkhamsted. Just round the corner in Pitstone there is a village shop, take away wood-fired pizzeria and Chinese restaurant. In Ivinghoe there is the local award winning Haldi Indian restaurant, CuriosiTea coffee shop and tea room, the Rose and Crown Pub and one of 'Britain's finest restaurants' The Kings Head. there is also a pharmacy, post office and shop, and hairdresser. Nearby in Tring there are three top class restaurants including Crockers Chef's Table. Pendley Manor and Ashridge House both popular wedding venues are a short drive away.
  • I had a wonderful stay at Avril's home. Such a beautiful and tranquil space with great amenities and thoughtful touches including the breakfast everyday and tea/coffee facilities in the room. I'd happily stay again if I was in the area. This location was perfect for my visit to Ashridge House.

In an annex of a family home, this is a brand new self-contained room with its own entrance and en-suite bathroom. As you enter you have an entrance lobby with room for coats, luggage and shoes, another door brings you into the bedroom. The room can be set up as a twin (as pictured) or as a single. The key is kept in a lock-box so you are welcome to come and go as you wish. The room also comes with a private car parking space on the gravel drive. Please let us know if you would like to use this.
The room is newly decorated in calm and pretty lilacs and blues, with a sitting area corner, with velvet armchair, long-pile rug, smart tv (Netflix, Amazon, iplayer & all catch-up channels), bookshelves, floor lamp, tea and coffee making facilities and coffee table. The bedroom also has a small wardrobe, two-drawer sideboard, large wall mirror, a bedside table and window. The en-suite bathroom has good hot shower, sink and loo and a large mirror. The bedroom is attached to the side of the main house, but there are two doors separating it - both will remain locked (one from inside the house and one from inside the bedroom).
Our house is right in the centre of historic Berkhamsted, from the door you can see Canal Fields park and the Grand Union Canal. Next door on one side is a squash and tennis club, the other side is just one neighbour and then a Lawn Bowls club. Use the bridge outside the house to cross the canal and you will be in the town centre: Berkhamsted High Street with its shops, cafes, restaurant and pubs (and market on Weds & Sats) is a mere 3 min walk away. Want to travel to London? Then all you need to do is walk 4 minutes through the park to reach Berkhamsted train station. Trains are approx every 20 minutes and take 35 minutes. Just beyond the station is the remains of Berkhamsted castle - built in 1066 by William the Conquerer. Want to stay local? Stroll down the canal tow path and stop at one of the many old canal-side pubs for a pint or a bite to eat. Love Harry Potter? The Warner Brothers Studio (Harry Potter Tour) is only a 15 min drive away - or 10 mins on the train. A short drive up the hill takes you to The Ashridge Estate and The Chiltern Hills with picturesque villages and country walks galore.
  • Lovely comfortable room in an ideal location.

Friendly, easy-going host. My lovely picturesque grade II listed Victorian manor house is situated close to Berkhamsted in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the heart of the Chilterns Hills. Close to Ashridge forest . Fast access to London, close to airports, the house is rich in history and is being restored. Wifi only 2mb but have a 4g signal. Water pressure is also Victorian but works. Couples and solos welcome. Full english breakfast available if booked in advance on request.
Double room with access to shared bathroom at Norcott Court. Belonging to the Loxley family the Elizabethan Manor, which was used as a Royalist headquarters, home to Charles Ist, for some months during the civil war, was partially rebuilt in Victorian times. In the 1920s the house was the home of the Tuke family, Sir Anthony Tuke was the founder of Barclays Bank and his grandson, also a Sir Anthony, was the Chairman of Barclays. It was later owned by Lord and Lady (Mimi) Davidson when Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin stayed there frequently as did Winston Churchill visiting from Chequers during the last war.
We are a 5/10 minute walk to Ashridge national park and forest as well as The Grand Union Canal. By walking or cycling along the canal in either direction you will come to Tring or Berkhamsted, both historic market towns with friendly locals and great restaurants/coffee houses. A nice 30 minute hike through Ashridge estate to Aldbury where you can find the Valiant Trooper and The Greyhound, both of which also serve food.

This modern, executive, annexe with private parking, is situated in the stunning village of Studham. It is close to Whipsnade Zoo, Luton Hoo, Hemel Hempstead, St Albans, Milton Keynes, Warner Studios, Woburn, Dunstable Downs and Luton /Heathrow Airports. A great location, self contained with own entrance, M1, M25 both a short car ride away. Many stations into London . As we are out in the country, a car is recommended. The Annexe is deep cleaned after every guest’s visit.
The annexe is suitable for holiday or business stopovers. It really is an executive space with furniture which has been chosen especially to suit the executive lifestyle. It is a triple aspect room, making it very light and airy. It is clean and well equipt with a comfortable king sized bed, luxury, quality bedding, duck and down filled duvet ( which can be changed to microfibre for those with allergies), and quality fluffy towels. There are floor to ceiling wardrobes with wooden hangers, shelves and drawers, which you should expect in an executive booking. We do not allow open flamed candles but do provide remote controlled candles. There's a large dining table and chairs, leather lounge sofa, desktop working place, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, iron, ironing board, hairdryer, hair straighteners, free wifi, Flat screen wall mounted Smart. TV with swivel bracket. Bottled water and milk, tea and coffee are also provided along with breakfast cereals and treats dotted around! The en suite, has a modern double soft water rain shower, counter top sink with cupboards under and a low level toilet. Studham is set in the Chiltern Hills and is an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The property is located in a very quiet residential area, in the Chiltern Hills. However, if you need easy access to the M1 / M 25 they can be reached within approximately 10 minutes. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty and there are many walks along the Chiltern Way and stunning views across Dunstable Downs and if you are prone to kite flying, that's the place to go. Although there is not currently a shop in the village, there are convenient stores within a 5 minute drive. Two pubs which serve food both at lunchtime and in the evening are a short walk away or just hop into your car and drive. So if on a business stopover, this is ideal or on a short break, there's ample to do in the area. There are also many cycle routes around Studham, so this is an amazing base for the cyclist. We are able to store cycles safely in our locked garage.

Welcome to one of the most historic parts of Berkhamsted - the hilltop site of Old Berkhamsted Place, and the original Grade 2* listed barn which remains, reputedly, the largest medieval barn in the counties of Beds, Bucks & Herts. The Stables is a spotlessly chic cottage for 2 with large gardens & parking, offering luxury linen & towels, wi-fi & TV. Ideal town/country position - 10mins walk to town centre with cafes, restos, boutiques and antique stores, and train to London is only 35mins!
'The Stables' is an idyllic bolt hole for a couple. Spacious bedroom with Kingsize bed prepared with crisp white linen and luxurious bath towels. Bathroom with shower over bath and fully equipped kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and Illy coffee machine. Open plan light and airy lounge-dining room with TV, Wi-Fi and radio iPod/iPhone charger.
Berkhamsted is a buzzing traditional market town with trendy cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, boutique shopping and plenty of fab antique shops. Berkhamsted Castle ruins are worthy of a picnic stop and the restored art-deco Rex cinema is an absolute MUST visit for anyone coming to Berkhamsted. London Euston is just half an hour away on the train and it's perfect to be able to escape the city at the end of a busy day sight-seeing by coming back to the peace and quiet of the countryside.
  • I enjoyed my stay at the Stables. The photos don’t do the property justice and it was a real treat to stay somewhere so special.

  • The Stables is one of the most relaxing places I have stayed! Sarah was an amazing host before and during the stay, being so accommodating and making us feel right at home. The place was spotless and so comfortable with some little personal touches which made us feel so welcome. It is the perfect location for a quiet weekend away with some beautiful shops, churches and pubs! We would definitely stay here again - thanks so much Sarah!

    Francesca2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A really pretty, quiet place within easy walking distance of the town centre. Good amenities with lots of helpful information about the area. The bread was delicious. Would definitely recommend.

  • Sarah is a very lovely, kindly and generous lady. She has decorated this beautiful home perfectly in keeping with its design. It is private, comfortable and quite. The house is a short drive to Berkhamstead which is conveniently close to London yet has a feeling of being somewhere further away, it's also very pleasant and attractive. The break has everything someone could wish for.

  • Exceptionally stylish place with lovely touches and attentive host

    Ann2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • I've spent an amazing retreat in the Stables. Quite, green, peace place. Rustical wooden interiors, warm floor. Decor details make you feel like in a real country side with the full of food and drinks fridge and cupboard. Sarah is welcoming and warm person. Her quick responses let me came in the same day and even stay longer than accomodation hours! Highly recommended! Thank you Sarah ☺️

  • Great location, excellent accomadation with some lovely touches. Pity it was only an overnight stay but will Definetly stay again when I'm in the area. 5 star

  • The Stables is a beautiful place to stay, cosy with everything that you could need. It makes for a fantastic base for exploring the Chilterns. Sarah was very kind to us and provided touches we weren't expecting - like the terrific orange juice we enjoyed in the morning and some delicious bread, as well as tips for the local area. The check-in and checkout process was relaxed and easy. We stayed one night and wish we could have stayed a lot longer - we'll definitely be back. It's a special place and one of the best experiences we've had on AirBnB. Thanks again Sarah!

The Dairy is one of seventeen holiday cottages at Town Farm, on the edge of the Chilterns. We are a working arable farm, with some sheep over the surrounding hills, we are lucky to have views over to Ivinghoe Beacon on one side, and Aylesbury Vale on the other. All the cottages each have their own unique charm, and we also run a campsite during the summer months. The `Pick Your Own` opens in June and guests can take a picnic and stock up on fruit and vegetables - this is a five minute drive away. It is only a ten minute drive to Tring Railway Station, shops and facilities, or a ten minute walk to Ivinghoe village, with pub, shop and tea room. London Euston is a 40 minute train ride from Tring Station. The Dairy is situated on the main courtyard, with an outside sitting area near the front door. The ground floor comprises an open plan sitting and dining room, with a separate kitchen. The sitting room has comfortable sofas, a flat screen TV and dining table with six chairs. The kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. Upstairs there are three bedrooms (one double, one twin and one single) and a family bathroom. The bathroom includes an over bath power shower. The property has access to a tennis court which is available to hire, games room and a children`s play area.  The Dairy is centrally heated by oil. Internet by Wifi is available and included in the rental. Parking for two cars is available at the front of the property. Up to two pets are welcome in the property, please let us know on booking. Wi-fi is included in the rental. We request a refundable GBP100 damage deposit for stays of up to 27 days, and one week`s rental for stays of over 28 days. Please see our terms and conditions for further details.
All our properties on Town Farm are comfortably furnished and offer all the convenience of your own home, all with fully equipped kitchens, some with dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. Linen and towels are also provided, together with an information pack in the property, with a list of local activities and things to do. The location of the farm means that we have lovely views over the Vale of Aylesbury and Ivinghoe Beacon, so we are in the middle of the countryside, and yet only 10 minutes to shops, railway station and a wealth of activities the area has to offer.
We love the area because you can be in the middle of the countryside one minute and hopping on the train for a 50 minute ride to London the next. The Chilterns offer a wide variety of activities, from National Trust properties, walking through the bluebell woodlands, driving through the picturesque "Midsomer" villages, to visiting Tring Zoological museum, swooping down the real snow in Milton Keynes Snozone, or playing Top Golf in Watford. All within 30/40 minutes of the farm. We are also close to the Grand Union Canal which stretches from London to Birmingham and which offers leisurely walks and boat hire. We are also only around an hour from Stratford on Avon, a little further to Oxford and Cambridge, and is a good basis for sightseeing.
  • Great place.. really enjoyed our time out there on the farm & hanging around the lovely town of Tring..

  • It was a real treat to stay in this wonderful place - it seems almost too good to be true. The windmill itself is as depicted, if not better, lovely inside and out, very comfortably done out with everything you could need. Cozy bed, amazing shower, great views from the windows of the beautiful grounds and surrounding countryside. We especially enjoyed the flock of resident geese. Lizzie was a great host, very friendly and helpful. We hope to return!

  • What an incredible experience! This windmill was above and beyond what we expected and we had the most amazing three days exploring the area and relaxing in the cosy kitchen and living room. We're on the edge of Berkhamsted, a charming market town with a canal going through it, 30 minutes from London. We are 20 minutes walk from the train station/town centre, right by the woods and golf course, so great for walks. Our house feels modern, minimalist, clean and tidy. There is a lot of light as big windows and it has a nice, airy feel to it. It is smartly decorated and a 4 bedroom house with just two of us living there, plus Merlin the dog and Mulberry the outlaw cat, rarely seen!
The guest room has its own en-suite bathroom and is in a very separate, private part of the house so you will not be disturbed. It will suit people that just want to do their own thing and have their own privacy. We are busy people and although we live here, we are not around all the time so you will have plenty of your own space, plus we don't go into the annex at all.
This affluent and pretty town is really charming It's a small market town with a canal running through it and the ruins of a castle near the train station. 30 minutes on the train to Euston station. We have some amazing restaurants and pubs and what has been awarded by the BBC and the Sunday Times as the most beautiful cinema in the country.
  • If you want to sleep in a quiet area near London, this is recommended! Nice bed and personal attention.

    Emmanuelle2019-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Very hospitable hosts who are never intrusive. The bedroom has a short hall that attached it to the kitchen so you have privacy but not isolation. Very comfy bed and a powerful, hot shower are wonderful.

    Lea2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Tim's place so much, we booked a next few days!

    Lea2019-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts are warm but not intrusive. The space is separate from the rest of the house, so you have privacy until you open the door to the kitchen. There is a spacious shower room adjoining the bedroom. It is in a quiet side road near the top of the hill. The bedroom window and door onto a private garden area. The duvet and pillows are lovely and fluffy. It is a very comfortable space.

Stunning views, direct access to footpaths and cycleways. Peaceful surroundings with regular sightings of local wildlife including deer, red kites, foxes and badgers
Aldbury is a 10 minute walk and has 2 pubs, a well stocked village shop and a superb coffee house. Ashridge monument is a 10 minute (appetite building!) walk where there is a lovely cafe serving hot and cold food 7 days a week.
  • A wonderful find! The room was very clean and recently refurbished. We had our own en-suite (great bed and shower!). The location was ideal for exploring Ashridge Estate and only a short walk from Aldbury village. Mia and James made us feel very welcome. The check in was very good. They offered advice about local area and and helped us when we had problems with our car by driving to and from the local garage. We were served a breakfast every morning which set us up nicely for the day. Very highly recommended.

Barley End is one of seventeen holiday cottages at Town Farm, on the edge of the Chilterns. We are a working arable farm, with some sheep over the surrounding hills, we are lucky to have views over to Ivinghoe Beacon on one side, and Aylesbury Vale on the other. All the cottages each have their own unique charm, and we also run a campsite during the summer months. It is only a ten minute drive to Tring Railway Station, shops and facilities, or a ten minute walk to Ivinghoe village, with pub, shop and tea room. Barley End is a homely, self-catering property with spacious open plan living space and a paved courtyard to the rear. The property is all ground floor, with ramp to front door, and wet room. The open plan living area has a modern, fully equipped kitchen area with cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washer dryer and large dining counter. The lounge which comfortably seats four has a large sofa, motorized recliner chair and a flat screen TV with DVD player. The property has two bedrooms, one with a king size bed, and one with a single bed. The wet room has a large shower and a heated towel rail and tilt-able mirror. The patio area at the rear of the property is private and is accessible by a permanent ramp. This property benefits from heating by electric radiators. Please note that rental includes GBP20 per week towards electricity. Any extra is charged as used on a non-profit basis. This allows us to remain as environmentally green as possible. Parking for two cars is available per property. Up to two pets are welcome in the property, please let us know on booking. Wi-fi is included in the rental. The property has access to a tennis court which is available to hire, games room and a children`s play area.
  • Clean, smart, warm, excellent location for walks etc, supermarkets 10-15 minutes drive away. No problems having a dog with us. Hard wood floors not carpet. Very peaceful when we stayed (winter).

  • I stayed with Pat for a week in March 2020. This is a bright and spacious home, the off street parking is perfect for the average size car. I found Pat to be an approachable and friendly lady. The location is excellent if you need to travel via the M1, M25 or the A41. I would always chose this B&B for a distance around the locality.

  • What a great thoughtfully designed little space for two. We were two mums on a getaway. It was a fantastic crashpad for our aqua sana spa day. Just about all the amenities we needed. Both beds were comfortable (single bed on the soft side, double firmer). The shower was a fab private space with glass roof and view of the sky - what a lovely suprise!

Modern home in the friendly and vibrant village of Edlesborough. Close to the village green and local amenities including a Post Office, Cafe and Pharmacy. The pretty garden has a table and chairs and leads out to private car parking. There are several pubs nearby which serve good food. Whipsnade Zoo, Ashridge National Park and Dunstable Downs are close. Leighton Buzzard and Tring Railway Stations are within easy reach for trips to London. Wi-Fi is available and well behaved dogs are welcome.
My house is in a good position in the centre of the village. There is a lovely Cafe a few minutes away serving excellent coffee and meals using local produce. There is a Post Office and a shop selling a variety of products including milk and various foods. The pretty village green which has a playground for young children is minutes away if you feel like a relaxing stroll. There is also a Hairdressing Salon, Pharmacy and Electrical shop. My house is comfortable, warm and clean and I hope your stay there will be very enjoyable. I will do my best to help you settle in and feel welcome.
Edlesborough is a lively and vibrant village including people of all ages. There is a good local school and a village green with tennis courts and football pitches. The Good Neighbours scheme supports the community, there are Keep Fit classes and many more group activities.
  • We had a lovely stay at Karen’s house. Karen met us when we arrived and showed us round. She had kindly left us milk and bread for breakfast. The village has a lovely park and amenities. Many thanks

    Katie2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Karen’s house was everything we needed and more. We were a group of five with the primary intention of being near Watford to do the Warner Brothers Harry Potter film tour. The house suited our purpose and so much more. Clean, furnished and equipped to a high standard, it really was home from home. The two double and one single bedrooms were very comfortable and have a full bathroom and an en-suite shower and toilet was also very useful. Karen is a lovely and welcoming host and we really appreciated her meeting us on arrival and checking us out in person too when we left. She lives in the village so was able to share her great local knowledge. Although our two full days were spent at the film studios and in London, Edlesborough is such a great village that we would not hesitate to return just to relax in this attractive part of the country. We would also not hesitate to return to visit London again as it was no problem to drive to Watford Junction Rail Station and get the fast train into Euston in under 20 mins. It took just over 30 minutes to drive from the house to Watford and of course, there are closer rail stations at Tring and Leighton Buzzard. We cooked a dinner and three breakfasts in the house and loved the kitchen as everything is of a high standard. There is a lovely garden to sit out in which also leads out to the dedicated parking space. The final thing to mention is that we felt the house is fantastic value for money. We would highly recommend Karen as a host, her fantastic house and the lovely village and surrounding area. Thank you, Karen, for such a great stay.

    Charlie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Karen was a fantastic host and did everything she could to make our stay enjoyable and even included breakfast. She has a lovely house and recommended local walks. It’s 5 minutes from Whipsnade zoo which is why we stayed there, so was a perfect location! If we ever head back this way, we would definitely stay again!

  • Very comfortable accommodation, spotless throughout and personal touches by a very kind host.

    Alex2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Karen's place looks tiny from the outside but it is a bit of a tardis and so comfy inside. Everything was clean and tidy, the furnishings were gorgeous and Karen had even left a tray of welcome snack and drinks as well as all the essentials like bread, tea, coffee, milk and cereal. I can't recommend Karen's place highly enough. I will definitely be booking again!

  • I stay away for work a lot - a combination of hotels, b&b’s and airbnb’s. I have stayed in several airbnb’s and I can honestly say that Karen was not only a faultless host but provided truly a “home from home”. It’s very unusual to return after a day’s work when you are not at home but actually feel like you are at home. I cannot recommend here highly enough. Thank you so much, Karen.
