Places to stay in Lambs Head
The lightkeepers cottage is semi detached holiday home situated meters from the cliffs of the Dursey Sound, a 5 minute walk away from Ireland's only cable car to Dursey Island. A 5 minute drive to Garnish Beach, 20 minutes from Castletownbere or 20 minutes from Allihies village. Downstairs-sunroom, living room/kitchen and a wc. Upstairs-double room, family room and shower room. Due to cliffside location we do not recommend this house for children. Well adjusted dogs are welcome.
Open plan, character filled house with stone walls, slate floors and open fireplaces. Our sunroom with panoramic views of the sea is the perfect spot for reflection and relaxation whilst the open plan kitchen / living area lends itself to entertaining. Down the side of the cliffs is our boat house and sea steps ideal for fishing.
The Dursey Sound is a peaceful area with magnificent vistas at every turn. Castletownbere is a mere 20 minute drive boasting excellent cafes, restaurants, shops and the countries largest fishing port.
  • You want to stay here just for the view already, as a bonus, the house and the hospitality are wonderful!

  • Julie was fantastic. The place was gorgeous, comfy and a few extras made the stay so special. Julie helped us out with finding places to visit with the dog, going out of her way! The views from the property are as fantastic as you can imagine and the cable car to Dursey Island only a short walk away. Only negative was the area (not the property itself!) not being very dog friendly in terms of walks and hikes. We'd love to come back, just maybe without the dog next time!

  • Julie is a amazing host with the most amazing views. We had a fantastic time great views and great walks on your doorstop. Julie recommendations for walks & beaches etc were perfect. With very cute, friendly dogs, pony & donkey. At the end of the garden there is a boat house right on the sea...... House is large with everything you would need for your stay. Very comfortable beds that we found hard to get out of. We came back fully charged & rested with great memories. Already planning our next visit.

  • What an amazing surprise! This place is incredible. Amazing views, amazing host, amazing house! I could have stayed two months!!

    Kerry2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and Julie was on hand whenever we needed anything. what a spot. Sitting on the patio watching dolphins, seals and sea birds diving for fish. Amazing skies, great walks and fishing from the boat house as well :) House is great, everything you need for a relaxing stay away from the rest of the world. So quiet and relaxed the world could end and you'd be none the wiser. Type of place everyone should visit at some point in their lives. We even had great weather. If i could give 6 stars i would :)

    Allan2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • The well designed spacious interieur, the surroundings like three beautiful terrasses, the spectacular view over the Dursey Sound and last but not least the overwelming hospitality of Julie deserve five stars!

  • The time at Lightkeeper's Cottage was vacation and pure relaxation. Julie is a very helpful and nice hostess. As a welcome gift eggs, milk, jam, butter, bread, sausage and ham were ready for us. She always helped with questions and had a lot of tips for the region as well as for our further journey. When we sat outside in the evenings, she just passed by for a short chat without being intrusive. The house itself is a special place and lovingly restored and expanded. Everything is there, what you need and also offers a phenomenal view of the sea. Overall we had four stations during our 16 days in Ireland. The highlight was definitely the time with Julie!

    Timo2019-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • The view is wonderful. The house is wonderful. Julie is wonderful. :-) We had a great time at the house and can fully recommend it to other travelers. The location is a little out of the way (you drive more than an hour to leave the Beara Peninsula) but this is easily compensated by the breathtaking view from the house and especially from the boat house further down the property. Julie was truly a wonderful host and whenever we had any wishes, they were promtly fulfilled. My wife is a little afraid of dogs and Julie also took special care that her dogs were out of her way whenever my wife was outside. Oh, and did I mention the wonderful winter garden / sunroom, the donkey, and the pony? If you are looking for a relaxing vacation on the west coast of Ireland, you should seriously consider coming here! The only "downside": No wifi and even no cell phone connection (which we of course knew in advance). But for other people this may probably be a benefit. ;-)

    Garnish, Beara, Ireland

In the heart one of Ireland's least known and unspoiled peninsulas this architect designed cozy eco chalet is REALLY off beaten the track (open & close 2 gates, unsurfaced road) in a yard with stabled ponies, ducks chickens and geese. Yet stylish, clean, and warm (3 heaters!). NEW mattress! Books about Ireland and local art. Bathroom with hot shower, washing machine. Toaster, cold water sink and electric kettle. New convection oven/microwave/grill unit. Composting toilet serviced regularly.
We are a genuine AirBnB - a private place opened out to those who share the AirBnB ethos and not available any other way. On the Wild Atlantic Way and the Beara Way, the chalet is located near the ruined Kilcatherine Church, built by monks said to be practicing for work on the Skellig Islands across the Bay and near the largest ogham stone in Ireland. Protected oak woodlands nestle by Ballycrovane Pier where local fisherman still harbour - and there are no jet skis. Visitors who have booked for only one night wish they had known how special the area is and allowed more time! [Do note, fellow cooks, that the cooking facilities are limited - new unit this summer replaces microwave with a unit that adds convection oven and grill as well, and there is a grill and toaster and electric kettle. ] And guests have asked us to say that we really are off the beaten track - finding us in the dark is not advised - and the unsurfaced road has two gates that need to be opened and closed. But they all say its worth it!
Secluded strands and hidden local piers. Ruins, wild headlands and unspoiled commonage running for miles. The end of the world. Castletownbere - about 18 kilometers distant - is the nearest town with restaurants and famous pubs. The Village of Eyeries - 5 km - has shop and post office and cafe. You can look out on one of the most remote bays - Ballycrovane - and headlands - the Cod's Head - on Ireland's west coast. You will never forget the experience, and you may even decide to return - or to never leave...
  • Chalet was full of character. Wish we'd stayed longer.

  • We loved our stay and would have stayed longer if time permitted. Tony was extremely helpful and very responsive.

    Donna2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Tony's place was amazing! We loved it's secluded and amazingly scenic setting. It was a short walk to amazing views of the ocean, near beautiful green fields! The space itself was very cool and rustic, the perfect spot to relax, read a book, and enjoy a cup of tea. Would highly recommend Tony's place to anyone looking to get away and enjoy the amazing landscapes that Ireland provides!

    Mathew2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Tony’s place is incredible. The eco chalet has everything you could need and is in the most beautiful off the beaten path location. Highly recommend staying in the Beara peninsula with Tony for a few days so you can truly explore. I would love to come back one day. The space is super warm and cozy, which is perfect for windy March nights. It had the perfect mini kitchen and all the books you could ask for to keep you entertained. Loved meeting the pets and wandering around the area. They also had excellent recommendations for walking paths and nearby areas to explore.

    Ellen2020-03-11T00:00:00Z

  • A lovely place, with a great view (even in the rain). Warm, cozy with all the amenities we needed. And that tub did not disappoint! As noted in other reviews, the road to the house might be daunting, but Anne Marie's directions were spot-on and we had no problems. Excellent communication with her. And she makes a delicious loaf of bread! Highly recommend if you're in the area.

    Karen2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great house. It’s comfortable, large, clean and has great views, unless it’s raining of course! Anne Marie and James made every effort to make our stay enjoyable. The home made bread on arrival was very much appreciated! The location is ‘rural’ but that’s what gives it the wonderful views. There is every convenience you could want - washing machine, tumblr drier, television, but no microwave. The bed is very comfortable and the bathrooms our luxury! A good base to stay whilst exploring the Wild Atlantic Way!

    Ruth2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great location if you are looking to escape the city ! very clean place as well with all the amenities you need. Anne Marie and her husband were very nice and welcoming

    Julie-Anne2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The views from this house are unbelievable - beautiful coastline and you can even see the Skelligs on clear days. The accommodation was spotless on arrival and there was a delicious loaf of homemade brown bread waiting for us in the kitchen (thank you!). Rooms are spacious and comfortable, would definitely recommend as a base to explore beaches, go hiking and visit attractions around Kerry.

    Rachel2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • The house is lovely. If you're looking for a secluded getaway, this is the place! The views are amazing, the house was clean and warm! Make sure to stock up in a shop on way. Storm Ciara decided to make an appearance on our weekend, it rained a lot and very windy, so we didn't get a chance to explore nearby as much as we would have liked, but it looks lovely! Beautiful claw-footed bath to enjoy, open fire, and even some home made bread, a lovely touch. We brought our golden retriever, and he loved it!

    Sandra2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Anne Marie’s place is really nice. The views are outstanding and the house is cozy and really big, perfect for a family or a group of friends. Prepare some time to enjoy the amazing bathtub. Anne Marie’s left us a delicious bread that we enjoyed in the mornings. Thanks Anne Marie!

    Nacho2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful place with a super awesome location. The hosts were amazing and even brought us matches to light the fire within a few minutes of asking where some might be. Exemplary service!

    Jessica2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely couple of days stay in Kerry, we were looking to get away on a nice country break and it was exactly that. The house is very remote so ideal for relaxing. The house was very cosy, the kitchen was fully equipt so we could cook for ourselves for the few days we were there. There is a beautiful free standing bath too in the ensuite which was very relaxing and put to good use. The homemade brown bread was a lovely touch, thank you for a great stay Anne Marie!

  • Dang Dang Chalet was just perfect & although it sounds clichéd, exceeded our expectations. It was a warm, cosy & comfortable space & we hardly took any heed of Storm Jorge blowing outside. The kitchen had all we needed, the terrace would be fantastic in fine weather & the chalet is quite private. The surrounding area is spectacular & the chalet was lovely to return to after a day of adventuring. Live music in O'Neills pub on Sunday evening is only a 20 minute stroll away! Really couldn't fault the place & hope to return some day :)

  • Most wonderful stay in the Chalet for the second time. It's a cozy and magical place from where to look out over the bay and start hikes into the mountains.

  • Lovely cosy cabin in the countryside of Allihies under the coppermines. Nice for walks to the village and to the sea.. Was perfect for my needs. Quiet and cosy. I am a solitary traveller so it was also a safe space.. Thanks Sam and Nicki

    Niall2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing retreat for such an incredible value. Both Sam and Niki were marvelously hospitable and generous. I felt so fortunate to have this opportunity to write, paint and grow for give incredible days.

    Halli2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived in very windy and rainy conditions at the end of the day and we couldn't believe how comfortable and warm it was inside the cabin. Everything was thought to the detail and we had a fantastic time. From the decoration to the very interesting books on the bookshelf (I now want to read the book about the Raj from start to finish). Only downside is we should've stayed longer! Loved to hear the rain and wind outside while inside was extremely cozy. The view is breathtaking and we where lucky to catch an almost full moon that we could watch from the bedroom window. We where also lucky to catch a sunny day and beautiful sunset from the cabin. All in all we hope to return for a few more days in the future. :)

    Vasco2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • we loved to stay in this little cozy cottage. It's ideal for 2 persons, max 3. The location is just what you ask for when you think about Ireland. Looking to escape for a tranquil week to an unspoiled island paradise off the West coast of Ireland ? Enjoy the total privacy of our converted schoolhouse, complete with all amenities, and discover the wonders of Dursey Island. You get there by cable-car over the ocean .! Dursey Island has a permanent population of one person !! It has no hotel, no bar , no restaurant, no noise and no pollution . If you want just peace and quiet and connect with nature, this is as good as it gets !
The converted schoolhouse , built in 1891 , stands alone , on top of a hill, in the middle of Dursey Island of the South West Coast of Ireland. It would be difficult to find a place more isolated, more rugged or more peacefull.
You stay at the schoolhouse , half way up a hill on an isolated island . Total peace.
  • Just spent a wonderful 5 nights at the school house and I have nothing but good things to report. The school house is very cosy with an excellent wood stove and plenty of fuel. The kitchen is very well stocked with quality cook ware and everything else you might need. We explored this wild island extensively and it was lovely getting back to this idyll each evening to fire up the stove and cook up a hearty meal. And then dark quiet nights for very restful sleeps in very comfortable beds. Needless to say we loved it and will be back again.

  • Dursey island is an exeptional place and the schoolhouse is the perfect location for exploring it. It’s very well equiped, clean and the views are just stunning. Colin is the perfect host. We hope to come back soon!

    Sofie2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place. There are few places on earth where one can enjoy such beauty and solitude. We loved the island and the schoolhouse and stayed for nearly a month. We would do it again in a heartbeat. Colin is an amazing host.

    Brad2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • It was a great experience. The schoolhouse is a nice and cosy place. Colin is a great host. Thanks for the homemade truffles and the fresh salmon. On the island we could use Colin's jeep. The transport of luggage and food worked well. I highly recommend staying in the old schoolhouse on Dursey Island.

    Roland2019-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful from start to finish experience! Home from Home with all you need for some splendid isolation on an island with mixed weather! Loved the generosity & thoughtfulness of Colin & Maggie's 'old schoolhouse' from access to bicycles right down to decent kitchen & cooking equipment, a coffee maker, condiments & firewood. Would come back to stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you both

  • It was a beautiful experience, one week on this small and friendly island, really relaxing. The house is on a beautiful spot on the island, very authentic, with all the schoolbenches still there to sit on (outside in the sun that is!) with a great view. Just doping some walking, drinking tea and watch the sheep and cows in the field: (a blanket is provided for chilly mornings!) you do not need more...

    Nelleke2019-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place is beyond words. It is absolutely incredible to feel you have the island to yourself. It's a modest place, you're not coming for a modern state of the art spa, but a true home that is so warm and in the most unimaginable place you can imagine. It was so peaceful and beautiful. We went for a prayer retreat and could not have had a better time. We will be coming back again, as soon as we can!

Delightful cosy cabin set at the base of Pine trees in the rear garden of our bed and breakfast property. 4 mins drive (15 mins walk) from Dzorgen Beara Buddhist and Meditation Centre and a 5 minute walk / clamber to the cliffs. Castletownbere Fishing town with pubs and restaurants is 8 mins drive one way and Allihies village with beach and pub grub 14 mins the other way. Fantastic area for walking and cycling. The cabin is self catering and a selection of evening meals are available.
Mountain bikes are free to use during your stay when available. Please request when booking
The Boatmakers Cabin is on The Wild Atlantic way so everything around is special for different reasons. For a great tea or coffee or a fantastic lunch/brunch choice you must visit The Tea Room Cafe in Castletownbere which is owned and run by your hostess Lorna. • Mare's cottage was absolutely amazing. Set in a beautiful location, at the foot of the hills and near the sea. The perfect location for extended hikes along the coast and up and down the beautiful rugged hills of Beara. Just great to get away from it all. The cottage is very spacious, cozy and clean and Maree is just a wonderful host. We stayed for two weeks with our baby daughter and felt right at home. We were very sad to leave!

Our B&B&bar is close to everything and away from it all...fabulous beaches and coves, amazing scenery. Optional extras include full Irish breakfast as well as a packed lunch and traditional dinner. You’ll love my place because there is so much to explore by day. By night there is fun and chat in the bar (a special soundproofing floor keeps the bedrooms quiet) Outdoor events too...astronomical and archaeological! My place is good for couples, solo adventurers and groups.
Over 100 years old, the house was designed to look like a mansion in the Southern States of America. It has an old world feel and is warm and very comfortable. This listing is for a room with 1 single bed with shared bathroom in historical house.
remote and friendly area in the most beautiful part of Kerry
  • Utterly amazing place on the Ring of Kerry, beautiful old house, a lot of local character. Fun bar and cafe attached. Delicious breakfast. I will definitely stay here again the next time I am in the area!!

The room was very clean and comfortable and you can fall asleep to the distant sound of the waves. Highly recommend.

  • Neilie's was the perfect location in the beautiful Co.Kerry. Neilie was a fantastic host and we really appreciated that he would check on us in the evening and catch up on our days. The room had everything you needed plus more for a longer stay which was perfect for us. Neilie gave us great suggestions about what to do and to see...Valentina Island, is a must! I was impressed with Neilie's friendliness and hospitality, the lovely room, the incredible views and how close the accomodation is to everything by car. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we could have stayed longer and hope to return during the summer months.

  • The place was even better than the pictures - such a clever use of space and the personal touches throughout. Wendy was readily contactable at all times and check in/ out was very smooth. The location was perfect for us, a lovely quiet area with a beach 2 mins walk away. We loved our stay and will definitely be back!

    Maeve2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • A very cosy cottage in the winter time with the stove burning, perfect for our weekend away. We loved the way the cottage has been authentically decorated & furnished with fishing references throughout. The kitchen was well equipped for the few meals we prepared. Thank you Cian!

  • This little cottage is just perfect. Beautifully restored, with lots of thoughtful, special touches. Comfortable and cozy inside, with everything that you need. The beach is just a short, beautiful walk away. We wished that we had booked more time for our stay, we would definitely love to come back again.

  • Cain and Wendy’s place is wonderful! It is so charming and very clean. The helpful recommendations for things to do and see in the area were great as well. Wendy was very easy to communicate with and responded very quickly. We had such a wonderful time exploring the area!

    Katie2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay at Cian's place - highly recommended for those exploring Ring of Kerry and Dingle Peninsula. Attention to detail!

    Malte2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We just adore this cottage and loved our time there. It has everything you could need is a small space that feels spacious and is decorated so beautifully you just want to spend all your time there. The bed was comfortable, the shower much larger than I expected with great hot water. The hot water in the sinks was a little tricky but not inconvenient. It was a short walk to a small cove beach and just lovely at sunset. I went horseback riding on the beach at a stable recommended by Wendy which was 10 minutes down the street. When we had questions we got quick responses and they were so kind to allow us a late check out. We hope we can come back some day!

    Lauren2019-09-20T00:00:00Z

The cottage was so cozy and warm, and we were given so many suggestions about where the best sites were nearby. We had a good mixture of staying in and enjoying the view, as well as driving along the coast and watching dolphins! I highly recommend this place!

While being in quite a remote place it’s only 15 mins from Castletown-bearhaven and perfectly situated for lots of sightseeing around the stunning peninsula. The house itself was clean and warm, with a well-equipped, spacious kitchen. We also slept like logs!

The room was very clean and has a tea/coffee facility although she invited me to her kitchen for a light breakfast. The peninsula where she lives has spectacular scenery and is well worth a visit. All round my visit was a very positive experience.

  • This was my third stay at Laraine’s place and I had another brilliant 10 days there. The cottage is beautifully located and inside it has been prepared with great care and thought to ensure a completely relaxing, comfortable and very enjoyable stay. The walks from the cottage up to the hills or down to the sea are great and views ever changing and unforgettable. And so much to do in the area - Laraine provides all the information you will need to explore in full. I will find it hard to stay away in future!

  • This place was the perfect home base to explore the Beara Peninsula! Loved enjoying the sounds of birds and looking out over the water each morning over coffee. Don’t be afraid to come in early March! We were skeptical of the weather but we saw our share of sunshine and enjoyed the sights a bit more intimately. We truly wished that we had more time at the cottage.

The Beara peninsula is my favorite one around, it's magical and you can explore the area easily from the cottage, as well as hop into Kerry via the Healy pass. Couldn't have asked for more, quiet, peaceful, charming, comfortable and equipped with everything you need, including a warm and friendly welcome from Laraine.

We are situated just outside lauragh in the beara peninsula on the wild Atlantic way coastal route.very scenic area.loads of walking routes nearby Mountains valleys lakes and glens. Josies restaurant. Helens bar serving food and pedals and boots cafe are all nearby..we suggest you do shopping in kenmare town for food, before you arrive here. Eileen.
Our neighborhood is very rural and scenic on the wild Atlantic way coastal route in the centre of the beara peninsula.
  • The old pub cottage in Lauragh on the mountainous Beara peninsula is a beautiful and special place. Nestled in the mountains, near a lake, the cottage is also very near to the sea, and if you are interested in Ireland’s ancient past of stone circles and stone monuments, you will have a lot to explore all over the peninsula. Eileen is an incredibly knowledgeable and helpful host. Do your grocery shopping in Kenmare before you drive in, and prepare yourself for a cottage that has been artistically and lovingly created.

  • Amazing hosts. Clean and friendly. Excellent communication

  • I came upon this little cottage on the remote Beara Peninsula by chance and I feel so lucky that I did! It is one of the most exceptional, unique and cosy airbnbs I have ever stayed in and Eileen and Robert were incredible hosts. They went above and beyond. A pot of tea, chocolates and a roaring fire were waiting for me when I arrived and their recommendations for what to do an see on the peninsula were excellent! The cottage is set in the most exquisite scenery and, lucky though I was with the weather, it was a perfect snug to come back to on a cold night. I would recommend anyone to stay at Eileen and Roberts cottage - indeed, I already have - and they can be expecting me to return very soon. Thank you both!

  • My husband and my stay at the old pub cottage was memorable (in a good way!) - an Airbnb experience really doesn't get better than that. The cottage is set in a stunning location and is the perfect blend of cozy and spacious; quaint yet with modern comforts (eg, central heating, fully stocked kitchen); and it is in a quiet and peaceful location but also in easy proximity to a pub, restaurants, and many hikes. Eileen and Robert are the warmest hosts we have ever encountered. We arrived to a warm fire, pot of tea, and they gave great suggestions on what to do on the Beara Peninsula. We only wish we could have brought them along as we toured the beautiful area!

    Jenna2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Perfection. A characterful cottage in an idyllic location - a truly authentic slice of Ireland as it once was. We cannot wait to return. Absolutely brilliant hosts to boot!

  • Eileen and Robert are the perfect hosts, and this is no cliche. If you value the human touch in hospitality, and a genuine warmth from the host,I suspect you won't find better in this country.Wonderful people, and a lovely, clean, comfortable place. This is a gem!

    Ray2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Let me start by saying this was easily the best Airbnb we have stayed at in Ireland. Not with just the amenities, which were abundant, but also with Eileen and Robert's warming hospitality! Finding nicer people would be hard to come by, and they went out of their way to make our stay more than pleasant. Add to all of this the beauty of the Beara peninsula (which is an incredibly underrated spot) and any traveler that has their eyes on this cottage is in store for something special!

    Brandon2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • A fabulous cottage at the bottom of the beautiful Healy Pass. We received the warmest welcome from Eileen and Robert, with the kettle boiled and a roaring fire lighting on our arrival. The house was sparkling clean, warm and cosy, with a really well equipped kitchen. We will definitely return in the future and can’t wait to explore the area more.

  • Spectacular scenery in a warm, well-equipped house. Delia and Pat are also most helpful and have many tips for what to do in the area. I highly recommend this place! Darragh

    Darragh2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Delia was sweet and thoughful. Lehanmore House is set in a location out of this world. We woke up to the view of the Atlantic and in the night, gazed at the milky way unpolluted by city lights. It was a lovely experience altogether. The house was clean. Delia had even arranged breakfast for us in the fridge. There is a dog and a cat in the house and they were both lovely. We let them in the house and they couldn't be better behaved.

    Kannan2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Delia's cottage is a super cosy place to stay. Away from it all, plenty of useful touches... it's a home away from home. Delia is easy to contact and a very friendly host. I recommend a visit!

  • Great place!!

    Sandeep2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • great welcome at Delia. The house is in an incredible environment: facing the sea, surrounded by meadows where rabbits frolic in the early morning ... Delia welcomed us late at night with a good fire (yes, the road is long and winding to arrive but it's really worth it). With its style a little "old fashion", this accommodation is very comfortable and cozy, perfect for a short stay to discover the peninsula of Beara. 10 minutes to reach the famous 'cable car' which allows to go on the island Dursey on which one can walk "between sky and sea" during 3-4 hours among the heathers and the sheep Without forgetting the provisions in the fridge for a perfect "irish breakfast" the next morning

    Anne-Catherine2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Exceptional view, functional accommodation, full of Irish charm. Délia provided the ingredients for breakfast, chips and fruit.

If you love the ocean, you will love this place. It is very quite and private within walking distance to Castletownbere. It has a private automatic gate and the property has a slipway to the sea. Beautiful area to go canoeing. Seals can be seen from time to time. You can watch the fishing boats coming and going.
It is located close to Castletoenbere and very private and peaceful. From the town center (Bank) to the Harbour Lights is 1.6 km and it will take about 15 minutes walks. The house is trilevel. I wouldn’t recommend to handicap people. From the main level 7 steps up to the living room and from the main level 6 steps down to kitchen area.
We love living here. Unspoiled nature, open space, clean air and extremely friendly people.
  • You must stay here!!!! The location is exquisite. The accommodations are perfect. The cleanliness is impeccable!!

  • We spent a wonderful week at Karels cottage. Everything was just perfect: a warming welcome with little treats in the fridge, a clean and comfortable cottage in a great area, lots of fishing, walking, sunshine, rain, seals, ... great family holiday for all four of us! Thanks for sharing this gem!

    Stefanie2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • The house is really very warm. Everything is comfortable and eating while watching the sea is a real pleasure. The region is very wild. We have adored.

    Sylvie2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at Karel’s place. The house was better than we expected. The breath taking views over the bay makes this an everlasting experience. We could watch seals resting and see the lighthouse by night. Karel and his wife have an unique property and their hospitality makes that we are thankful we could stay in their house. The house is very comfortable. All you need for a pleasant stay is available in the house. Castletownbere is only a 15 minute walk away, where there are great restaurants, pubs and a terrific crepes stand. Our trip to Dursey island is something our kinds will remember a live time.

    M2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal location, impeccable cleanliness, very comfortable house, perfect hosts who are very good advice, and a breathtaking view, we had an unforgettable stay at Karel and his wife. Go ahead with your eyes closed, you will not be disappointed. we recommend this rental at 200%.

  • Beautiful home with beautiful views

    Shane2019-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Really want to keep this a secret. Lol. Truly one of the most spectacular and peaceful locations I have ever been to, and I have travelled worldwide. Beautiful home with above and beyond everything you will ever need. The hosts have taken such great care to ensure perfect hospitality and special touches around their home. I stayed here for 3 days on a trip with my 83 yrs young mother and we both agreed this was a piece of heaven on earth and could happily have stayed indefinitely. The stunning views out over the water, the seals in the bay, the fishing boats going out, always something to see. Karels wife even left a vase of beautiful roses and a card for my mother, her birthday. We will be back again for a longer duration that is for sure. Will never forget this paradise, including how happy my mother was to stay here. Thank you.

    Sheilagh2019-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Karel’s beautiful home is a perfect spot to utilize as a retreat or a base for exploring the Beara Peninsula. With the ocean literally at the back door, the sea breeze kept us cool on warm days. Located on the outskirts of Castletownbere, it’s a perfect location to either drive or walk into town. Karel and his wife left us lots of goodies to munch on too. We’ll definitely be back as we continue to explore the area of our roots.

  • We spent 4 days in the comfortable and well equipped cottage at Maree. Well located for visiting the Beara Peninsula. Very close to the ocean and other tourist places to hike ..... Maree is an available host easily reachable. I recommend ! For its housing at a very good value for money, you will pay the electricity and heating in addition.

  • It is a really nice place to explore the beara peninsula ... we felt very well. The house had everything we needed .. even toys for the kids. And to play with the dog Bella and feed the chickens and ducks was a Highlight for our Kids ;) the nearby village eyeries offers everything we needed: a playground, a Cafe some grocery, Pubs and a lovely coast for walks. Maree and her Family were really helpful. We can absolutely recommend Inches cottages

    Julia2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place, with a welcoming host. Lots of useful advice on things to do and where to go. Cindy's Gems was the best value family meal out - we went twice!

    Clare2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful little house with lots of toys for smaller children. Maree is a fantastic host and in the late July at the Family Festival in Eyeries unfortunately changeable weather you can not blame the accommodation.

    Marc2019-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Maree & John are friendly hosts, we were able to chat with them several times during the stay. We had fresh eggs from their chickens as a welcome gift. The accommodation is very clean and tastefully decorated. There is everything you need to cook. A self-service laundry room is shared with all 3 units and is available outside (free washing machine, dryer for a fee). The bitch Bella is very kind to the kids and just thinks of playing! The wifi is a bit capricious, but still works. We highly recommend their cottages appear even in the Ireland 2019 Backpacker's Guide!

Seaview house is a newly refurbished (2019) detached stone fronted home in a quiet location on the Lamb’s Head Peninsula offering panoramic views of Derrynane Bay and the Skellig Islands – a UNESCO world heritage site. The picturesque village of Caherdaniel is 2½ miles away offering pubs, restaurants, shops, cafes and a local farmer’s market. The area is ideal for walking the ‘Kerry way’, horse riding, boat trips to the Skellig Islands, water sports, fishing and touring the Ring of Kerry.
The panoramic sea views from the house are breathtaking. We also have uninterrupted views over the Skelligs, Derrynane beach and house etc. There is a secluded stunning sandy cove within a few minutes walking distance of the house, as well as a small pier. The blue flag Derrynane beach is just a short driving distance. Nearby you’ll also find Derrynane House and National Historic Park, the ancient ring fort of Staigue fort, a championship golf course at Waterville and Sneem, the Kerry dark-sky reserve, craft shops and tea rooms.
The house is perfect for a relaxing break or as a base to visit the many attractions in the area including the "ring of Kerry", Waterville (where Charlie Chaplin came for all his holidays), Sneem (beautiful tidy town award winning village), Derrynane beach and house, where Daniel O'Connel was brought up and Prince Charles and his wife recently visited.
  • The house is beautifully located with awesome views... much better than what we hoped. Walking trails and beach is a short walk away. Ample space, well furnished, board games and accessories, and a wood burning stove.. we couldn't ask for more on our 4 days stay. Tracey and Patricia were great in guiding us with information and made sure we had a comfortable stay. We will definitely visit again...

  • The view from Caherdaniel house is stunning. If you're looking for a peaceful secluded getaway where you can get close to nature, this is the place to be. It's nestled in the rugged countryside with an ocean view and has all the amenities of a modern house (except for wifi!) The house is super comfortable and Tracey as well as Patricia (the caretaker) were super friendly and quick to respond to any questions we had. We had a wonderful stay. Definitely go horseback riding with Caroline when visiting. It's a rare treat! Just a head's up: Electricity fees are charges separately.

  • We loved staying in Sinead's home while in Ireland. It's about 10 mins from town, so not too far to get items from the store. We travelled through the pass/country roads and got to see amazing views to and from the home. Great communication also for a first-timer to Ireland. Sheep were in the front yard daily. We really enjoyed it!

    Amber2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • I've stayed in Sinead's cottage twice and I love it. Such a well kept house in a stunning area and really good value for money. Great to get away but still have a sense of being at home. Sinead is very good to responde to emails and answer any questions. Would 100% stay here again and again 😊

    Julie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place, huge, warm, quiet

    Carlos2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • I am just home from a three night stay at Sineads beautiful farm home and we absolutely loved every minute. I stayed with two of my children ages 4 and 12. They had a brilliant time and enjoyed the sheep and the cows and scenery along the drive down to Waterville village. (Just a short and stunning drive away) My trip away was just to get away from all the hustle and bustle and relax and that's exactly what I got. The weather wasn't great on the second day of our stay but that didn't matter, we were very happy to cosy up beside the fire which was heaven. When we arrived, the fire was already lighting , and there was absolutely everything we could need and more for our stay, towels, shampoo, conditioner and shower wash, teas and coffee and biscuits, cereals, eggs in the fridge, oil, salt and lots of condiments/spices and herbs. Nice little touches like these made it feel like a home from home. Everything was really clean and tidy and the house was so cosy and warm. This house is full of charm and the views are out of this world, amazing!!! Just sitting and looking out the windows at the views and taking it all in. Sineadss mum Kitty came to greet us and couldn't be more helpful, she was so lovely and super friendly. We loved her stories and chats and she even offered for us to visit the farm so my daughter could see the cows. The location for me was ideal, remote yet close enough by car to all the magnificent natural beauty spots that Kerry has to offer. Waterville itself is a sweet little village with the most friendly people. There is a centra that stocks absolutely everything you would need too. Beautiful little stoney beach which we need to visit in summer, I can just imagine, if it was that stunning on a really winter's day how it would be when it's sunny and warm. Overall a really memorable stay and we will definitely be staying again. We didn't want to leave.

  • Beautiful location, welcoming and professional host, great facilities. Highly recommended.

    Stacy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Neilie was wonderful! The room looks over the beautiful bay and is located near several towns with things to do, places to eat and pubs to enjoy. Everything from finding it to check in and check out were easy. Neilie was a great host! I would totally recommend.

    Garrett2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Neilie's place is awesome! Much bigger than it looks so we were very impressed. It has all the amenities you need, including pots and pans so you can cook. We had bread, butter, cereal and milk available 24/7. It's private, warm and comfortable - the view is beautiful! The closest town is a 10 min drive away. Neilie is very friendly, provided us with a map and a lot of information about the area. Thank you so much! We might return during the summer x

This snug, grass-roofed cabin offers panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy a warm Irish welcome, mountain walks on the Beara Way or snorkling on nearby reefs. Sample local cheeses, lamb, fish and seafood or stoke up the wood-burning stove, have a glass of wine and and savour the tranquility!
This remote and peaceful location offers an opportunity to unwind, enjoy an unspoiled and breath-takingly beautiful environment and recharge your batteries! There is a comfy double bed (197cm x 154cm / 6ft 5.5in x 5ft), a pull out sofa bed in the living area, and a child-sized floor bed or baby cot on request, so we can comfortably accommodate accommodate solo travellers, couples, 2-3 friends and small families. Ten minutes walk will take you to a local swimming spot, fishing point, pre-Christian archaeological remains, picturesque ruins or cliff views. You may see seals, dolphins, diving gannets or, if you are lucky, the local otters. It is an ideal place to kick back and relax. In bad weather you can just sway in the hammock seat in front of the fire, listen to music and daydream... If you fancy a dip we can lend you wet suits, snorkel masks, goggles and flippers and show you some lovely accessible swimming spots where you can take the plunge. It's so close that we provide dressing gowns and plastic shoes so you can just go down in your swim suit, dry off afterwards and pop back to the cabin for a hot shower. Whether you are into a gentle ramble, walk or hike, we can recommend nearby hill and coastal walks and signposted loop routes on the adjacent Beara Way. There are even hats and scarves and jackets to borrow if you didn't come prepared, as well as wellington boots of various sizes. If the weather isn't in your favour or you prefer to lounge around we have a library of books, cds, radio, cards and games to keep you amused in front of the fire. Clear nights are great for star-gazing and the area has very little light pollution. We are avid foodies, and can recommend where you can get the best local free range hen and duck eggs, fish, seafood, lamb and local Mileens Cheese directly from the cheesemakers, as well as shops where you can find organic, wholefoods and vegetarian or vegan fare. Fear not if you are a coffee-drinker, as there is a cafetiere (French press). The kitchen is very well equipped, with full-sized oven, grill, stove, toaster and hand blender. You should be able to cook anything you want and if you need anything we can probably lend it to you. There are 'Arrival/Survival' Supplies for your convenience (some tea, coffee, sugar, condiments (oil, vinegar etc), herbs and spices). Nearest shops are about a ten minute drive away. If you prefer to eat out we can direct you to a range of cafes and restaurants to suit every taste and pocket. Most are a ten or twenty minute drive away. We are on the Wild Atlantic Way, the Beara Way Waking Route, the Ring of Beara, the Beara Cycling Route and near some designated Shore Fishing Points. There are Art Galleries, a Sculpture Garden and a Tibetan Buddhist Retreat Centre within a 30 minute drive. Guided meditation is available at the centre daily. The area is famous for its neolithic, megalithic and Bronze Age sites, such as Stone Circles, Ogham Stones, Dolmens, Wedge Tombs, Ring Forts and Souterrains and your host be hired to take you on a guided tour (half or full day) by pre-arrangement. If you prefer to go it alone, Kilcatherine's fifth century Graveyard with its pre-christian 'cat's head' and the famous 'Hag of Beara' are only about 10-15 minutes stroll away. Lessons in conversational English (as a second language) can also be arranged at any level as your host is a qualified ESOL teacher. Introduction to Irish (Gaelic) is also possible for those interested.
The wild and rugged landscape, spectacular, star-studded night sky and beautiful sunsets need to be seen to be believed. West Cork is truly a place apart. You can sample local delicacies such as Mileens cheese, water buffalo burgers, free-range hen and duck eggs and pork sausages and the nearby town, Castletownbere, is Ireland's biggest white-fishing port. There are regular music and set-dancing sessions at local pubs and there are art galleries and even a sculpture garden to visit. There is a ferry to Bere Island and Dursey Island, at the tip of the Beara Peninsula boasts Ireland's only Cable Car. But sometimes mooching around and exploring the teeming wildlife on the shoreline and in the rockpools is enough to keep you going. Your hosts can tell you more and you can look at our visitor's book for ideas on things to see and do.
  • Incredible hidden gem! One of the best places I’ve stayed ever, a must-do even for just a week in Ireland! Anne gave great recommendations, we played badminton with her and her son, the cabin is so perfect, refreshing, serene, and the peninsula is insanely beautiful! Could not recommend this stay more highly.

    Bailey2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • The creative cabin is one of the most beautiful and coziest AirBnb we have been to. Anne was really heartwarming and gave us good advice for our stay in Ireland. She showed us the nice beach and the nice area while walking with her dog. We were thinking about cancelling all our plans for our trip to stay longer in the cabin, because we really felt like home. We can fully recommend this AirBnb for everybody who wants to have an eco-friendly and cozy stay in the south of Ireland. Thanks for everything, we will definitely come back again!

    Laura2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • The whole stay at Annes is one terrific experience. From the beautiful landscape to the wonderful cabin, this is a place where one can find peace and comfort. Perfect for everyone who wants to relax and wants to have the option to explore Irelands scenic coast. I recommend this AirBnB 100 percent.

    Christoph2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • The creativity cabin is just what the doctor ordered. The perfect place to getaway and explore west Cork. We love to cook and the cabin had everything we needed to make dinner and even bake, a huge bonus was being able to make fresh bread in the retro gas oven. The cabin itself is fantastic. It feels like home the moment you walk in. Cosy, with a wood stove and plenty of wood to keep it burning. It has a huge window facing the Atlantic Ocean that gives you great panoramic views of the waves crashing against the shoreline. Anne has really thought of everything in the Cabin and there really wasn’t a single thing that she hadn’t thought of to help make our stay a wonderful experience. As for West Cork, It’s just beautiful. We spent most of the time outdoors walking in the hills and around the coast on the Beara Peninsula. We’d love to head back in the summer time and try some of the local swimming spots when the waves aren’t so huge!

    Dave2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • I had the most fantastic short trip of my life! Everything was perfect! Including wonderful surprise for my birthday. I will come back for sure. Thank you, Anne! You are a great host!

    Eva2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • The Beara Peninsula is a magical place and this little cabin by the sea is the perfect adventure base. The creativity cabin is an absolute delight. Unobstructed ocean views, a cozy fire, a hammock, welcoming hosts... it’s just wonderful. You’ll have a hard time leaving!

    Siolo2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Anne’s place is the ideal base from which to experience this beautiful part of Ireland. You’ll be in touch with nature, feel cosy by the fireplace and be inspired to cook local produce in her great kitchen...

    Jemima2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place! Anne and her family have been kind and hospitable more than expected. There's no pressure to interact and at the same time you 'll never feel alone nor abandoned. The location is in the perfect point in the map to enjoy the famous western Irleand coast. Around are Middle Ages ruins and ancient stone circles. The landscape is much varied and the weather always changing and fascinating. It's possible to take great trips to the North (Portmagee/Kerry Cliffs and Skerry Michael) and to the South (Mizen Head). I chose the first. Of course it takes a while to drive on the coastal countryside roads and AT LEAST 3 days of staying are needed to enjoy the experience. A car IS necessary: around there're little villages with grocery stores, it's possible to buy all the necessary stuff. Thank you Anne, see you soon! Corrado

  • Conor and his wife are wonderful hosts who can give a lot of tips for the stay in the area of Eyeries. Her room is cosy and we found facilities to make a coffee or tea. Coming back to Eyeries means to come back to Conor and his family.

  • Thank you, I was very satisfied with the accommodation. The value for money is excellent. The location is quiet, roads are good, GPS is easy to find. The room is clean, welcoming, with everything in it for a few nights. I recommend to those who are not looking for luxury, just a clean, nice place to sleep. I recommend.

  • We stayed at Conor’s place on the first night of our travels along the Wild Atlantic Way. Easy to find, Conor’s place was perched on a hill overlooking the beautiful Caha mountains. The local village of Eyeries was a short walk away or there’s a bigger town about 10 mins away. The room itself is a cosy space with a private bathroom and is privately situated at the side of the farmhouse. Conor was a great host offering local information and inviting us in for a cuppa. Overall great value for money, great location and would highly recommend.

Kellys cottage was built around 1850 and we are breathing new life into it. We, Jorge (Spaniard) and Uwe (German) are tourism experts and learned to love Ireland many years ago. Our house will be the first gay-friendly cottage in South Kerry. Kellys cottage gay-friendly is in a quiet and idyllic location just 1.8 km from the Ring of Kerry. In just 3 minutes you are on the beach with a golf course. Breakfast (full irish or choice of menu) MANDATORY, to be paid on site (7.50 € per person / day)
The en-suite room in the attic has a large panoramic window with a view of meadows and mountains. It has a modern bathroom and a small balcony. For the 3rd person there is also a separate room with a single bed in the attic. We speak German, Spanish, English and Italian.
County Kerry, Ireland: Our neighborhood consists of a few courtyards; people still real, honest Irish. Waterville is a pleasant, small tourist town with great beaches, views, and great seafood and fish restaurants. Our recommendation: the Lobsters and the Smugglers Inn, right on the golf course and on the Atlantic with pure, clean air. The view at The Smugglers Inn is a pleasure as well as the food !!!!! On the way around the accommodation: Here I will put together a small program so that you can explore unique places and landscapes by car as well as hiking trails within a radius of 100 km.

  • Julie is a lovely host. We loved her Glamping pods and enjoyed our stay in this cozy AirBnB. Julie clearly has an eye for detail, we did not miss anything - she really thought about everything - from the heater & hot water bottle up to the nice decorated Christmas tree. The pods are a dream for everyone who wants to stay somewhere special in the middle of nowhere but with a decent level of standard. Dear Julie, thank you very much for your great hospitality. We will definitely recommend your pod!

Loved sitting in the deep windows and looking out, great views. A wonderful spot to relax in when the weather was rainy and wild. Perfect base for exploring the local area. Lovely walks by Dunboy castle. Great views over the ocean at the Dzogchen Beara meditation centre. Fab food at Berehaven Lodge and well stocked SuperValu shop in Castletownbere, a short drive away for any bits and pieces. The cottage has so many lovely little touches, a real home away from home. • This was the best slice of heaven needed to recharge our batteries! Very central to explore Beara peninsula and we looked forward to coming home to relax by the fire after a day of exploring! Exceptionally clean home away from home with everything we could have possibly needed in the house. Hanna was very helpful with any questions we had and informing us of local activities that may be of interest to us and was quick to reply to any questions! Really put our mind at ease! Already looking at pencilling in another trip down to Hanna’s beautiful cottage!

  • Laughing seagull cottage was just fabulous- 5 stars all around!! So much effort and thoughtfulness has gone into this place, and it was truly a cozy and wonderful stay. We always seek out more rural stays when traveling, and don’t much like city life- this was the perfect spot for that! Very quiet and peaceful, we loved having a fire at night. We decided to get things for an easy dinner at the grocery store in town, and arrive before dark, very glad we did. It would have been tricky to find for the first time after dark with rainy, windy weather. It was so nice to spend a quiet night in too. We would highly recommend to anyone coming through the region and gladly stay again. :)

  • Dana's house and garden is a place full of charm, where there is an artistic, human, ecological and poetic spirit. We were greeted with great warmth, Dana made good recommendations to visit this beautiful part of Ireland: the Ring of Kerry. What a pleasure in the morning to take your coffee in the beautiful garden and find the house bright and spacious at night and make a small outbreak in the fireplace. We keep a very good memory of our stay in this little magical place. Thank you Dana!

  • We had a great stay at Fisherman’s lodge, it’s a stunning location with amazing walks and places to explore. We loved that it was comfortable, warm and dog friendly. Wendy was a great host and very friendly. Our only comment is that wifi/bins/fire wood is not included - you buy bin bags and recycle bags at local shop as well as firewood, and wifi can be paid per day or per week as signal in the lodge isn’t great.

  • Fisherman's Cottage is a unique living space, tucked into the rocks of Lamb's Head. From the grass covered roof to the nautical lighting to the sweet round wood stove, the house is quirky and delightful. The drive out along Lamb's Head is stunning (at least for the passenger!) and it is a lovely area to explore on foot as well. When we arrived, the house was cozy warm as the owners had started a fire in the wood stove for us. There are ample heaters throughout the house as well to take the chill out. I particularly loved the selection of books on the area and the map on the wall. This place has been very carefully built and furnished, and it was a real treat to get to spend a few days here.

  • One of the most special places we've stayed in - a cosy haven nestled in spectacular surroundings with incredible beaches and mountains in easy reach. All the locals we met were friendly and helpful and feels like a place we'll keep going back to if we can :-)

  • We enjoyed a fabulous weekend at the Fisherman’s Lodge. Wendy was a great host, and very easily contactable while also giving privacy. The lodge itself is well kitted out and spacious, with lots of cooking essentials and cutlery. It’s a short drive to some of the most amazing beaches we have ever been on, and the lodge is perfectly quiet at night, our 6 month old daughter slept so well. There is a lovely patio to sit out on, visited by a friendly dog and chickens. My husbands driving skills were certainly tested on the road up to the lodge but we felt this added to the charm! A lovely base to tour some of Kerry’s sights, we particularly enjoyed Derrynane beach, White Strand beach and Derrynane Gardens.
