Your own piece of tranquility in our Little Skye Bothy, with outstanding views to the loch and the mountains. The pod has kitchen facilities, 2 ring hob and microwave (no oven). Tea, coffee and sugar are provided. There is a shower room, an ottoman double bed and a sofa bed for an extra guest. There is an oil filled heater, table and chairs, TV for watching DVD's (there is no signal for local or national channels) and wifi is available
This pod is situated to make the most of the beautiful views and for privacy. You can lie in bed while enjoying the view or sit on the decking enjoying the scenery and wildlife
Heaste is a little hidden gem situated on the shores of Loch Eishort, 5 miles along a single track road from Broadford. There are several working crofts and creel fishing boats working from the loch. Heaste continues many of the older traditions of Skye such as peat cutting. There is a sea eagle nesting in the trees across the loch. There are walks to Boreraig (a highland clearance village). There are stunning views over to the Sleat peninsula and knoydart.
  • My boyfriend and I had a amazing stay here. The pod exceeded expectations and the host was lovely. Set in a quaint village called Heaste, the pod sits on the top of a hill boasting picturesque views over the loch. The location feels like you are miles from civilisation in your own peaceful bubble. This pod is in easy reach of all of Isle of Skye’s tourist spots 40 minutes from the Fairy Pools, 45 minutes The Storr and one hour from the Neist Point Lighthouse. We would definitely recommend this Airbnb for a romantic weekend away nestled in the countryside.

  • Nicky was outstanding and so was her bothy. She was more than accommodating gave us recommendations where to eat every night and even turned the heater on before our arrival. The bothy itself was perfection and the best stay we had our entire trip.

  • The Skye Bothy was amazing. It had all the amenities you could want, was lovely and warm, even in February with amazing views. Kirsty was wonderful and extremely helpful and accommodating. Thank you so much for a beautiful stay, Bec and Josh x

  • The little bothy is a lovely, unique place to stay. It's beautiful and Nicky's hospitality was the best part - she was always reachable via text for any questions (and she was nice enough to welcome us with a bottle of Prosecco and call restaurants both evenings we were there so we knew where we could go and eat - both places were SO yummy as well). Visiting in February was not the best month (we had Storm Dennis raging around us and the weather was mostly terrible), but we were snug in the bothy, even if the heating was a little weird to regulate (even though Nicky clearly showed us how to use it, we kept over/under heating the place - our fault though!). Visiting when it's mostly good weather would definitely be divine - the long-ish drive from the main road in Broadford to the bothy was a little scary at times when there was heavy fog, but all OK if you drive slowly and carefully. It's amazing how thoughtfully Nicky has laid out the place - it's tiny, but has so many amenities and even some little games (which we took advantage of) and a kitchen. Highly recommended.

  • A perfect little getaway for yourself and another! Gorgeous views and a tasteful little bothy that'll keep you warm from the cold that Scotland can bring. Highly recommend to anyone that wants to see more of what Skye has to offer. Nicky is also a wonderful host.

The Blacksmith's bothy is a traditional black house with thick lime washed stone walls. These compliment a modern kitchen and wood burning stove. Set in a peaceful location, the building is over 100 years old. It is surrounded by croft land and spectacular cliff top walks. Situated very close to Spar cave and 5 minutes drive to Elgol. A private, screened deck area and hot tub is adjacent to the bothy with sea views through a wooded glade. Perfect as a romantic retreat.
The Blacksmith's bothy is a renovated traditional old blackhouse bursting with character. You will find a bright clean space containing a brand new kitchen, a dining area, rocking chair, state of the art CD player music system with a wide variety of music, a battery operated DVD player and selection of films as well as a beautiful bespoke day bed so you can be cosy and comfortable in front of the wood burning stove whether having a romantic evening or relaxing during the day. The house is decorated to reflect the owners passions for art. Some of the prints are the owners own work. There is also a display of blacksmith tools from his own workshop. Creative workshops are available by request if booked in advance but the bothy is a completely private space for you to enjoy and relax. The kitchen is equipped for you to fully self cater and contains a microwave, a fridge and two electric hobs. There is also a kettle , toaster and a cafetière for coffee. You will not however find an oven, a grill or a freezer. We want to make you aware of this so you can plan your shopping. There is a small ice box which would fit one or two items only. Adjacent to the bothy you will find a raised deck area with a wood fired hot tub lit with fairy lights and optional insect screening. Also you can enjoy dining out at a table with two chairs and a bbq. A selection of wetsuits are available to borrow should you wish to swim in the sea at the bottom of the croft.
Glasnakille is a spectacular secluded village in South Skye with commanding views over Loch Slapin towards the Sleat Peninsula. There are also views of the small isles of Eigg and Rum nearby. `The mountains of knoydart can be seen in the distance. There are very quiet roads on which it is possible to walk or jog. You can walk the coastal path to Kilmarie which then takes you into Camasunary bay and the heart of the Cuillin . It is possible to have a quiet stroll or a big adventure without even taking the car. However Elgol is a five minute drive away with its famous boat trips to Loch Coruisk. Stunning views of the Cuillin can be seen along with walks to Prince Charlie's cave and amazing honeycomb cliffs near the pier. Glasnakille is home of spar cave, a 50metre long cave which can only be accessed at low tide. It has a fascinating flowstone staircase contained within it. Our nearest supermarket is 15 miles away. The co operative supermarket in Broadford is open till ten pm. This is also where you will find a 24 hour petrol station. However our area is remote and peaceful and there are no shops or restaurants or pubs within walking distance. We believe this just adds to its charm however. Bookings can be made for evening meals at Coruisk house in Elgol but these need to be made well in advance.
  • Incredible space with many a thoughtful touch! There is possible everything you could ever need for a short break away from the rest of society and be within your own little bubble for a few days.

  • The bothy is a beautiful, quaint and cosy space situated in a remote yet accessible location. The surrounding scenery and trails are breathtaking and the wood burning stove and hot tub made this an unforgettable stay. James was quick to respond to any questions and was extremely friendly and inviting. Highly recommended.

  • A fantastic, secluded place to stay in an out of the way place with lovely scenery. Log burner was lovely after being out in the rain all day! James was a great host and very friendly, his directions were easy to follow and we found it with no problem. Go well prepared and stock up with food, nearest shops are 30 mins away in winter months! Would recommend for a restful, away from it all, few days.

Converted from the original croft cattle shed, the Cleadale Bothy offers basic self-catering accommodation for up to four people. Costs of £55 per night (regardless of number of people staying) include bedding, wood, gas and electricity. The bothy is located on our organic sustainable croft at the northern end of Eigg with stunning views looking Westwards over the Atlantic Ocean towards the Isle of Rum. New for 2013: Our house extension is now complete which means visitors have access to a shower and flushing toilet. On sunny days there is plenty of hot water from our solar water heater(URL HIDDEN) Cleadale Bothy is a one room building with a wood burning stove, table and chairs, full size gas cooker (with up to date gas safety certificate), sink with cold running water and everything needed for basic self catering accommodation. Sleeping accommodation comprises a double futon and raised single bed. An extra mattress can be placed under the single bed for a fourth person. A compost toilet is situated close to the bothy. As well as food and drink, visitors need to bring their own towels and a torch. We ask that outside shoes are removed when entering so a pair of inside shoes is advisable as the floor in the kitchen area is not carpeted. We provide a hand towel and tea-towel with the bedding.
  • This was a wonderful stay. Sue was wonderful, in every sense of the word. Unfortunately my stay was cut short by he weather but Sue was always there to offer advice. She offered routes to take, weather updates and general advice. I would definitely come back again.

  • The best place to visit the beautiful Isle of Eigg! You’ll find yourself at home in this authentic bothy!

    Romain2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful base to explore the quieter side of Eigg - with the best views over to Rum. The bothy is super cozy, a great bolt hole when the wind gets up and for the long winter nights. We wish we could have stayed for weeks. Thank you!

    Jack2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We were very excited about Sue’s place and it did not disappoint. It’s a comfortable, warm and cozy place to stay with the compost toilet really close by. The views are stunning and you are close to beautiful walks. There’s lots of useful information in the bothy about things to do and Sue and Neil took care of us well- transporting our heavy bags and getting us tickets to the New Years ceilidh! It was easy to cook and nice to have a shower close by. They also kept us right with changed boat times and when the local shops were open. I would highly recommend staying here.

    Clare2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in the bothy exceeded all expectations. It took us 5+ hours on the ferry from Mallaig due to an amended timetable, but it was still worth it. On arrival we were made to feel very welcome by Charlie the island's taxi driver. The bothy was perfectly situated with excellent views in all directions - providing a wonderful escape from modern life. Walks from the doorstep took us to dramatic clifftops and scenic beaches. Would love to come again, for longer! Thanks to all at Eigg Organics.

    Emma2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • This place is pure beauty. The view of the hills, cliffs and the sea is breathtaking, the animals around make the place so welcoming, not to mention the people there! Everyone is incredibly friendly, Neil picked us up and showed us around, talked to us and gave us tips! The island is definitely worth more than one visit and we would always return to this cosy, extraordinary place! Communication is uncomplicated, accomodation is super clean and tidy, no negative points to add!

    Meret2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for being such a special part of our honeymoon. We felt so close to nature and so cozy in our unique little bothy. We would love to come back!

  • This is an awesome place to stay. Sue and Neil are very friendly and accommodating and helped us have a wonderful trip. The bothy is a fantastic rustic place to stay and helped us get back to basics.

The cosy Shepherd's Hut combines the best of past traditions with the comfort of today. Inside is everything you need for a comfortable cosy night's sleep, but still with enough space to relax during the day. Eigg is a beautiful island with spectacular beaches, wildlife, archaeological sites, interesting geology and a vibrant island community. The island is very popular with landscape and wildlife photographers.
The Shepherd's Hut sleeps two; the bed can be made into a double or two singles. There is a wood burning stove and we provide wood, electricity ( but just enough to charge a phone or computer or listen to the radio), water and sink, a two ring gas cooker and table. The fridge is in a small shed, just outside where you can store luggage and food. There is a toilet with an amazing view! The Hut is great for couples and good friends looking for somewhere to relax. Dogs are welcome at The Shepherd's Hut but we are on a farm so we ask you to keep a close eye on your dog. Hot showers can be found at the Pier which is a 10 to 15 minute walk away. Here you will also find the shop, tearoom and ferry connections. We provide bedding, a hand towel, tea towels, toilet paper, washing up liquid and tea/coffee/sugar, but not bath/shower towels. It is a good idea to bring a pair of indoor shoes so that you do not have to wear your boots/wellies in The Hut.
The Shepherd'sHut is located within 1 mile of the shop, café & restaurant, only 15 minutes from Kildonnan beach and 2-3 miles from Laig Beach and Singing Sands. It provides an ideal base for exploring the island.
  • Lovely little thoughtfully designed hut with extra special views across the water. I loved lying in bed watching the stars, and waking up to see the sunrise. Even the loo has a great view! Alex, Liz and their family were so helpful and kind to me throughout, and Eigg is such a great place to visit.

  • Great three nights in the Shepherd’s hut! Cozy and stormproof. Easily accessible from the ferry, just a 10 minute walk :)

    Vince2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • The shepherd's hut is beautifully furnished with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Perfectly located with sea views over to the mainland, I was lucky to catch the most beautiful sunrise. Alex and Lizzie were perfect hosts, picking me up from the pier and showing me how everything works in the hut. Eigg was stunning, and the people very friendly. The shop is well equipped, and island caters for vegetarians and vegans. I loved every second of my two day visit and I'm certain I'll return. Thanks Lizzie and Alex for the perfect stay!

    Lizann2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is truly one of a kind. On arrival, Liz picked us up from the pier and brought us to the shepherds hut, which was very nice! The hut itself is the perfect spot for exploring the island and with a small kitchen, changeable bed/table and plenty of outside space it was a very cozy space to stay. We would definitely recommend. Stay for at least two nights to have enough time for this beautiful island.

Angels’ Share is an architect designed contemporary cottage over looking Knock Bay and the ruins of Knock Castle. There is spacious accommodation for two people, with room for two children or two “small adults” on a sofa bed. The cottage is situated on the Sleat peninsula known as the Garden of Skye. The cottage is not far from from the Skye Bridge and the mainland ferry ports. It makes a great base for exploring the whole of Skye's beautiful scenery.
There is electric heating throughout (under floor in the shower room) and a wood burning stove for those colder evenings. A welcome pack and an initial supply of fuel for the stove. We allow pets by arrangement.
The cottage is next to Skye newest Whisky Distillery (Torabhaig) which is certainly worth a visit. The drive to the cottage from either the ferry port (Armadale) or the Skye Bridge takes you through stunning countryside with magnificent views across the Sound of Sleat to the mountains of the Scottish mainland.
  • Simply wonderful!! One of the best places I have stayed, everything you could ever need . Beautiful personal touches and great location for exploring Skye. A beautiful space to relax and re charge in. Thanks so much for having us

    Catherine2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • John and Mhairi were amazing hosts. Angels Share is a gem within a beautiful island. Their thoughtful were greatly appreciated and made the cottage a pleasure to stay in.

    Maxine2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great accomodation, everything you need and quiet relaxing place. John provides lots of lovely personal touches that make you feel very welcome. We stayed for 4 nights and it was the perfect base from which to explore Skye.

  • John and Mhairi have created a fantastic space with the most thoughtful touches to create a home when exploring the beautiful isle of skye. Nice and tucked away, the place is modern, amazingly clean and stylish throughout with a real Scottish feel. By far the nicest Airbnb ever stayed in and would recommend to anybody.

    Matt2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! Beautifully decorated, warm & comfortable, stunning location & full of lovely little touches which made us feel like we were staying in a fancy boutique hotel! John & Mhairi were wonderfully welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The bed was comfy, and the house was equipped with everything from coffee maker to an Alexa. Very close to Torabhaig distillery, the beach & the ruins of Knock Castle, so stuff to do close by. Couldn't quite believe the quality of this place, thanks so much for our amazing holiday!

  • We enjoyed a very chilled 3 night stay at Angels Share. The accommodation is immaculate and kitted out with everything you’d possibly need. An ideal base for exploring the beautiful island of Skye. We loved sitting by the fire and chilling while watching the storm outside. John and Mhairi were excellent hosts giving a friendly check-in and thoughtful welcome pack. We’ll definitely be back.

    Robert2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Angels Share. The weather let us down (thanks Storm Ciara) but the cottage was a beautiful base from which to have windy rejuvenating walks on the beach, great food at the nearby Am Praban bar. The wood burning stove and welcome pack were much appreciated when we were wet and cold :) we loved our weekend away and would definitely stay again. Dog friendly too!

    Becca2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at Angels Share. John and Mhairi were excellent hosts who gave us complete space and privacy to enjoy their accommodation but we knew they were right there if we needed them, and we didn’t! Angels Share has all you could want or need and more, it’s packed with thoughtful and homely touches, providing everything to connect you with the modern world but also everything to occupy you if you want to disconnect - the best of both worlds! We have already been recommending Angels to friends and family and would recommend it to everyone. We can’t wait to return.

A hillside hideout to escape, explore, rest and relax. Our light and airy bothan was specially commissioned by Studio Hardie, the bespoke craft team from Channel 4's Amazing Spaces. It is set in a grassy field overlooking an ever-changing vista of sea and mountains. Well-equipped and tastefully furnished, the bothan is a short walk from the pier, shop and ceilidh hall. Brave an invigorating swim in the sea, walk the beautiful hills or simply sit and soak up the tranquility.
The bothan is an open-plan space with a double-height ceiling and mesmerising views from the large picture windows. There's an extensive outside deck with a picnic table for sunny days. Facilities include a well-equipped kitchen (two-gas rings, full-sized Smeg oven and fridge), dining area, a comfy settee and log burner, separate heated bathroom with spacious shower and Swedish dry-composting toilet. There is a mezzanine with double-bed (accessed via a steep ladder) and two snug boxed-in bunk beds. The bothan is supplied with French bed linen, fluffy towels, organic toiletries and for rainy days: board games, a bluetooth speaker and an intriguing selection of books about Eigg/maps/walking guides. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but please remember that this is a working farm with free-ranging sheep and cattle. Things to note Essentials: waterproofs and walking boots/wellies, slippers, torch, midge cream and sun cream, money (there's no cash machine on Eigg although you can withdraw money from the Post Office). Eigg is off-grid and generates all of its own electricity through renewables (solar panels, wind turbines and hydros). Each house has a limited electric supply so please don’t bring power hungry items such as hair straighteners and hairdryers. Eigg is an island, and boat journeys are at the mercy of the weather’s whims. It’s worthwhile checking Cal Mac’s Service Status the day before travel, as occasionally they change the timetable to avoid incoming storms. Cancellations do happen in stormy weather, particularly in the winter. It is advisable to get travel insurance to cover this eventually as Airbnb or Cal Mac don’t offer compensation for missed days or additional nights. If you need to spend a night on the mainland, accommodation in Mallaig, Arisiag and Morar can be found at the Road to the Isles website. Check the weather forecast at XC Weather.
Eigg is a peaceful and enchanting escape from the pressures of mainland living. It's a nature lovers’ paradise, with a beautiful, unspoilt environment that’s home to a plethora or rare birds, insects and plants. A small and friendly crofting community of about 100 people live and work here. Together the islanders have been pioneers in community land ownership, renewable energy systems and community broadband. In the summer month’s there are plenty of ceilidhs and music events, including the island’s independence celebration (June), the Feis (July) and one-off sessions in the island tearoom. There are three sandy beaches, including the Singing Sands, the peak of An Sgurr, caves and lochs. There’s also a small crofting museum, a craft shop, tearoom, and bike hire from Eigg Adventures. Eigg has a well-stocked shop (groceries can be pre-ordered and delivered to the bothan. See the Isle of Eigg shop website)
  • Franny’s Bothan is in a lovely spot on the isle of Eigg; it has a feeling of remoteness while still being very close to the amenities of the tea room and shop. Sarah is a lovely host, she picked me and my dog up along with our suitcase straight from the ferry, took us up to our accommodation, and made sure we had a box of fresh eggs from her chickens. The bothan is surprisingly spacious with some ingenious design touches; I loved the two little single bed spaces, although I didn't make use of them as it was just me and the dog so the double bed up in the mezzanine area was our chosen spot. There's a wood burner with plenty of logs to keep the place cosy and warm and the kitchen is well stocked with utensils if you want to cook in. I'd definitely recommend staying here, and I’ll certainly be looking to come again.

    Ashleigh2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • An awesome space, brilliantly designed, comfortable and cosy even in mid winter. Absolutely ideal for a getaway in the raw nature of Eigg. Sarah and Jonny are wonderful and kind hosts. A real treat of a place.

    Tim2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • I was looking for a safe place to spend a week on my own where I could hike, read, and take in the views for a personal retreat. St. Franny's and the Isle of Eigg gave me that and so much more. Sarah's mom Lizzie met me at the pier and drove me over to the bothy. It was clean, well supplied, and comfortable. I got extremely lucky and had mild and sunny weather, in November. The bothy is only a few minute walk to the pier but still feels isolated. It's essentially at the trailhead for several of the walks and hikes including the caves and the Sgurr. I also rented a bike easily through Eigg Adventures, which I would recommend. I went in assuming that I wouldn't have cell reception but I actually did have a bar or two at the bothy. It was cozy and warm with both a heater and a wood burning stove for the winter. It was all perfect and I couldn't recommend this place more!

    Kailey2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's place is FANTASTIC. We knew it was going to be good from the photos and the other reviews, but it is even better than we could have imagined! The views were incredible - you could literally sit and watch the skies and the views change all day! The island of Eigg is a wonderful place to visit - rich in nature, geography, history, geology - fascinating place to emerge yourself in. Would recommend staying for as many days as you can. The Bothan is cosy, warm, and beautifully designed - a joy to stay in. Sarah is fab too - she will pick you up with your luggage and take you to the bothy - very friendly and helpful. We took bikes with us - but you could hire them on the island. Well worth having bikes to get around. Hike up the Sgurr is amazing - fantastic views. Take some binoculars - sea birds, woodland birds and golden eagles, and porpoises in the bay! Highly recommend - but don't just come for one or two nights as you will wish you had booked longer! Lastly - the people on Eigg were so welcoming - which really added to the joy of our trip. Don't hesitate booking this place!

    Jane2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time in the Bothan. It was a perfect base from which to explore Eigg. Sarah was an excellent host, helping us with our bags from the ferry and provide the most amazing eggs. The wood burner was very cosy and perfect to sit becise on a stormy night.

    Tom2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • I guess we got a bit lucky...... 7 days of sunshine in October, with only a wee bit of rain a couple of times during the night. The Bothan is really well designed, and perfect for a single, a couple, or a small family/group. Sarah and Johnny - who are dead nice, and are there whenever you need them, but will otherwise leave you to it - have provided all the basics - bedding (👍👍), towels, crockery, cutlery, cooking stuff, some books (informative stuff about Eigg and some good novels), maps, suggested activities, etc. If you get some decent whether get out and walk or cycle. There are a load of options, including some great short walks on your doorstep. The shop will cover all the basics, but maybe take some stuff with you. The best thing about St Franny’s though is the view(s), regardless of weather. Sit (with optional music or radio) and watch the changing landscapes, seas, boats and wildlife. It really is the best spot. If you are reliant on TV, hair unaffected by wind, or Casinos - don’t go to Eigg. But, you already know that...... Do it !!

    Alan2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • A very well located cosy and comfortable place to stay on the wonderful Isle of Eigg I would highly recommend a stay at St Frannys

    Stella2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful time staying at the bothan for a week. It's a lovely space, in a great location that's conveniently near to the pier but secluded enough that it feels totally private and peaceful. Sarah was very welcoming and a helpful. Could not recommend more!

'Shindig' is a traditional stone croft house found at the most Southerly part of Skye, at Point of Sleat. A step up from camping, it's a basic bothy-style experience, although with hot running water and gas oven. No electricity, a leisure battery provides some light, candles provide the rest! There's a pristine white sand beach 2 minutes walk from the house. Stunning seascape views to Rum /Eigg. Use of kayak and fishing gear. This is more "hands-on" than your normal holiday cottage. Please note
Located remotely, off grid, 2 miles from the village of Aird, near Armadale in Sleat, Skye and accessible only on foot, the cottage is a very basic insulated (but not yet clad) open plan space, with a mezzanine level upstairs and it sleeps 5-6. A wood burning stove provides warmth (logs included) and gas fuelled appliances include fridge ( small caravan size), oven with hob and running hot and cold water in the kitchen. **NOTE- water NOT drinkable in kitchen. We filter water (one micron filter) at a tap beside the shower and have never had any problems with this, however, we would advise guests to boil this filtered water for one minute before drinking. Of course, you are welcome to bring your own bottled water** There is a pull-down double bed in the kitchen area (this is heavy and may require 2 people to lower and raise bed) with an additional double and single bed and space for 2 air mattresses upstairs. Clean but basic accommodation which is reflected in the price. We rely on guests leaving the house clean and tidy as we don't live on site and have no cleaner. *We ask guests to bring their own bedding (pillowcases/sheets)/sleeping bags*. Pillows/mattresses/blankets and hot water bottles ARE provided. We've loads of board games for rainy days too. This is NOT a luxurious space and a certain level of practical knowledge to deal with the bottled gas etc is required. We have a compost loo adjacent to the house (complete with She-wee) and a gas fuelled outdoor shower a short walk away. Relative luxury! It can be temperamental in high winds so we provide an outdoor solar bag shower too. The walk to the house requires boots or other appropriate footwear and depending on fitness takes between 30-40 minutes. The last part to the house can be quite boggy and wet. Cars can be left at the small carpark at the end of the road in Aird so all of your food/luggage will need to be carried by backpack. There are no near shops or restaurants at Point of Sleat so we advise planning ahead for food. If you need to restock during your stay you'll need to walk back to the carpark (taking between 40-50 minutes) and drive to either the small community shop in Armadale or the larger Co- op in Broadford (approx 30 mins drive). If all of this doesn't put you off, then you'll love the peace and beauty of the area!
The house sits within a working croft which has cattle, sheep and hens roaming freely. We want to minimise disruption to our neighbours from vehicles driving on the track, so we ask guests to walk to the house. The house is a 2 mile walk from the end of the tarmac road at Aird. Guests would need to be prepared to leave their car at the small carpark next to Aird Old Church Gallery and carry supplies for their stay in all weathers (all part of the fun we think!) There are many attractions once at Point. Camas Daraich beach is simply stunning and only a short stroll from the house. It is safe for young children, with fantastic rock pools and abundant sealife. Its a great place for a swim and a barbecue on a sunny day. Beyond the beach, along the hilltops winds a path to the lighthouse which has dramatic views over the sea to the islands of Rum, Eigg, Muck, and the mainland from Arisaig to Ardnamurchan Point. A good place to spot dolphins or basking sharks if you are lucky. The area is ringed by low hills, home to red deer and heather and stunning views of the Cuillin hills. There are many coves and inlets around the headland which are great fun to explore and we've often spotted otters. We have really enjoyed fishing for mackerel in season from either the sit on kayak or from the shore. Our kayak is available for guests at your own risk- we do provide buoyancy aids for children and 2 adults. These are not lifejackets. We are fortunate to be near Armadale and the Gaelic College Sabhal Mor Ostaig, which hosts performances throughout the year via SEALL -a community led performing arts promoter. World class musicians and artists playing in often quite small and intimate venues throughout Sleat. Alternatively, you may wish to simply bring a good book and totally relax in this amazingly peaceful place.
  • Very remote and amazing. We loved it here. A total body and mind reset from technology and life in general. Tons of activities to keep busy...hike to point, hike to lighthouse, board games, etc. The cottage is perfect and obviously well loved by the owners. All kitchen needs were supplied, beds comfortable and a very homey place to enjoy each other’s company. The toilet is great, we didn’t use the outdoor shower, but wow it looks awesome. Met the wonderful neighbors training their sheep dogs. Such a beautiful and calming atmosphere. We felt right at home there and loved every minute.

  • Brilliant little cottage in a beautiful place. Outhouse & outside shower just add to the adventure. Short walk to beach. Well-fitted kitchen, & food cupboard, very atmospheric after dark with candles, teeny lights, & torches & woodstove firelight. Quite a trek to & from parking carrying all our stuff, but well worth it. Had a blast.

  • Anne was a great host! We wish we had planned to stay longer 😊 if you are looking for an off-grid, rustic cottage experience, this won’t disappoint! We hope to return again someday!!! ❤️

  • Atypical house to cut the world. The calm has done us a lot of good. The path to access is not easy for non-athletes but the view is worth it (sandy beach and the "harbor" are beautiful places) Anne is very reactive and did not hesitate to contact us before our stay to give us advice on our itinerary. Thank you Anne!

    Marion2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • An idyllic setting in south Skye! Anne is an incredible host and her home reflects this. Amazing attention to detail and caring touches all the way

    Sam2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • It's a bit of a walk to the cottage but definitely worth it for the spectacular setting. The cottage has everything you need, best of all a roaring fire!

    Ruth2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage es the perfect place for escaping everyday routines, a busy work life or whatever else bothers you. Getting out there without any wifi and very limited telephone connections and having the beach right in front of the door is wonderful. Describing the cottage in 3 little words: Simple but perfect!

    Nadine2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for an adventure or to switch of from a busy life. Cosy hideaway. Exactly as described. Pack for all kinds of weather from stormy to sunny. Great walks on your door step. Walk from car park took about 50 mins. We did two trips on arrival day to fetch belongings then food etc. but would recommend doing in in one and packing light.

  • We had an amazing stay on Eigg! Barn is great, good well equipped kitchen. We ate one night at the café which was delicious. Amazing stars and nature!

    Kate2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful location and amazing hospitality. Tamsin picked us up from the pier and took us back after our stay, and offered great tips for our trip to the caves. Highly recommended if visiting Eigg!

  • A lovely place to stay in a great location

    Brian2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely two night stay at the Glebe. It’s sparkly clean and spacious yet cosy and the perfect place to come back to rest tired legs after exploring Eigg. The apartment had OS maps provided and multiple handy books on Eigg’s history and wildlife. Tamsin was kind enough to point out the best walking routes. The dining table window has a fantastic view directly up to The Sgurr - which we couldn’t resist walking up as soon as we got there. Its prominent position on a hill gives The Glebe great views back out to sea yet it’s only half an hour’s walk from the pier with its fab cafe/restaurant. If you prefer, all the equipment is there to cook a meal from scratch too. We were lucky enough to be visited by a short-eared owl which hopped around hunting outside the window for several minutes! I miss it already and wouldn’t hesitate to come back or to recommend The Glebe to a friend. Many thanks!

    Jenny2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at Glebe apartment and were sad to leave! It’s a beautiful little hideaway with stunning views of An Sgùrr from the kitchen table, a good selection of books and well situated to explore the island. Very comfy bed, and very warm and cosy. Kitchen well-equipped and everything clean and tidy. Thanks for a lovely stay Tamsin, we hope to be back soon!

  • A lovely base to come back to after exploring beautiful Eigg

    Emily2018-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Everything you need for a stay on Eigg. Comfortable, warm, good amenities and friendly welcome. We were met off the ferry and got a.lift up to the accommodation. It is walkable but good not to have to lug bags up the road. Kitchen well appointed with crockery, utensils etc. Plenty of reading material including local information and comfy chairs. Bathroom and bedroom well appointed. Stairs up to front door and internal stairs to bedroom. We had a good stay and would certainly recommend.

    Sue2018-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Glebe Barn is a great place to stay and makes for an enjoyable, comfortable holiday. It is attractive, in a good location and has a view of the Sgurr from the dining table. The bedroom is big and the kitchen a good size for cooking in. The whole set up is welcoming.

Wake to the morning call of Invercaimbe's resident Curlews and fall asleep after witnessing one of Arisaig's spectacular sunsets. Perched directly above the beach, Invercaimbe Croft House is a tastefully decorated, traditional croft house perfectly suited to both families and couples alike.
Invercaimbe Croft House comfortably sleeps five (one twin and two double bedrooms) and enjoys a cosy living area with coal fire, modern shower room and a bright kitchen/dining room with fabulous uninterrupted views of the beach below and islands on the horizon. If you are travelling with a child or children under the age of twelve, please don't add them onto the reservation as they will be charged the "extra person £10 supplement" as there doesn't seem to be an age option for us to choose. If you could just let us know via message, that would be great. The Croft House makes for the ideal base to explore the area. Bring your boat or kayak along and discover the beautiful bays and beaches or enjoy a ferry trip around the islands of Eigg, Rum, Canna, Muck and Skye. Watch and listen to the Jacobite Steam Train aka the Hogwarts Express as it chugs its way along Creag Mhor or simply relax with family and friends on the beach or, on days when the weather is not so favourable, in front of the fire with a good book. Invercaimbe Croft House is privately situated and fenced off and is part of the Invercaimbe Croft, a working croft and small family campsite run by our sister, Joyce. Invercaimbe prides itself on being a tranquil space and it would be appreciated if guests would respect both the wading birds, campers and livestock by not disrupting the peaceful nature or inhabitants of Invercaimbe.
  • This is a real gem of a place to stay. The beach is at the doorstep with stunning scenery and walks. The communication with Pamela was very easy, and helpful. We stayed during New Year and the extra touches such as a welcoming Christmas card and stunning hamper of goodies were delightful. A highly recommended stay.

    phil2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • I just wish we could have stayed longer. There’s something very therapeutic about staying on a working croft and looking out your kitchen window at the changing tide. When the tide recedes the beach is a few steps away ready for you to explore. Just a delight!

    John2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely cottage right next to the sea. It has everything you need, it’s stylishly decorated and includes an open fire which at this time of year was very much appreciated! Pamela and Paula were lovely hosts who kindly left a welcome basket of bread, wine and cheese! Very thoughtful! This is a wonderful part of the world which we will never tire of visiting and we will definitely use this house again.

    Becky2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic setting, a comfortable cottage with lots of thoughtful touches and good host communication

    David2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • We spent two weeks in the accommodation. It was just wonderful. The house is so great right on the beach and the space at the kitchen window is just a dream. It does not matter if the weather is dry and sunny, or the rain is whipping. You are protected behind the window and it feels almost like being outside. Pamela and her niece Paula were very friendly and helpful and responded promptly when we needed something. With the dog we could make beautiful beach walks directly from the house. The rooms are very nicely decorated and in the evening we heated the fireplace. It is really cozy there and the location is just spectacular. Pamela welcomed us with a basket of bread, wine and snacks and everywhere in the rooms there were fresh flowers in vases.

    Petra2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely few days here, cosy Croft house, We arrived to fresh local bread, biscuits and fresh flowers in most of the rooms, lovely personal touches, we enjoyed every night cosied up with the log fire burning, and waking up to beautiful views, very peaceful and relaxed place to be, make sure you take your car and you can get around easily we managed to do some of the smaller island tours, can’t wait to return,

With wide, open views out to the Isle of Rum, life in Sweeney's bothy is cosy, simple and completely relaxing. The bothy has everything you need - a wood burning stove, a small but well equipped kitchen, a super-comfy double bed, a table, an armchair and a library snug with an eclectic mix of fiction and non-fiction, maps and books about Eigg. Sweeney's Bothy sits beneath the cliffs of Cleadale in the north east of the Isle of Eigg, a community owned island with spectacular landscapes and abundant wildlife. Climb to the top of the incredible and unique Sgurr of Eigg for truly fantastic views. Paddle or swim off the magical Singing Sands or in Laig Bay. Then return to Sweeney's, eat and sleep well. Perfection.
Sweeney's Bothy is heated with a wood burning stove that has a hot-plate and an oven for cooking. The kitchen has a single gas ring and sink. There is no fridge, but a cool-box with freezer blocks is provided. The bothy has basics like teas, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, herbs, spices, olive oil, matches, foil, kindling and washing up liquid. The mezzanine bed is accessed by ladder, but a simple mattress can also be provided for the floor - please let us know if you would like one. All bedding is supplied and there are a couple of extra blankets if you’re worried you might be cold (you won’t be, the bothy is very cosy!). The bed has an organic wool duvet and mattress topper. We provide towels and a dressing gown. The bothy is connected to a water supply that comes from a natural spring. It is safe to drink. An outdoor shower is installed on the decking outside the bothy, with hot water supplied by a back-boiler on the stove and a solar hot water panel. There is no washing machine. Midge screens on all the windows, meaning you can keep cool & midge free on warm summer nights. There is a separate composting toilet 15 metres from the bothy. Toilet roll is provided. The bothy is off-grid, meaning it has a photovoltaic (PV) panel generating enough electricity to provide lighting and allow you to charge a mobile phone/laptop/camera. There isn’t enough to run a hair dryer, hair straighteners or similar items that make heat or require a lot of power. We ask our guests to separate their bottles, tins and plastic milk cartons, and to compost vegetable waste. The bothy is 150 metres up a steepish path. We will help you with your luggage. Suitcases on wheels can be pulled up there, but the bigger they are, the harder it is! We recommend carry bags or rukcsacks or small wheel cases. There is no internet or 3G access at the bothy, but there is an internet cafe at the Pier, and wifi at the learning centre in the Primary School. There is no mobile phone reception. The nearest point for mobile signal (depending on your network) is in the middle of the island, two miles away. Emergency calls can be made to and from our house.
Cleadale is in the north west of the Isle of Eigg. Eigg is a small island, five miles long by three miles wide. The island is about an hour by ferry from the west coast port of Mallaig. Eigg has a population of around 110 people. It is owned by a community trust and generates all its own power from renewable sources.
  • The bothy was perfect in every way, as was my general experience of Eigg. Lucy is a wonderful host, and you have everything you could possibly need, with the added bonus of incredible views. I'll be making the trip back as soon as I possibly can.

    Natalie2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Waited for years to get come to Sweeney's Bothy, I can only say that even still, my expectations were surpassed. Lucy and Eddie are great hosts, their bothy is beautifully designed and situated with great privacy and an idyllic view. We brought road bikes over on the ferry - though I was initially uncertain how well they would cope, I was really impressed by how good the road is across the island. We really look forward to coming back!

    Jack2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is just outstanding. On a beautiful Isle full of nature and on that place I had time just for myself to unwind and be creative. Everything was like it was described. The communication was just perfect. I would really recommend this for people who wants to experience another type of connection to a place, nature and an Island.

    Nicolay2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful space, surrounded by beautiful Hebridean nature. Go, and rediscover what makes life beautiful.

    David2019-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • Just book it now. You won’t regret it. The bothy is very secluded, perched up in the hillside, surrounded by impressive cliffs with views over to Rum. The bothy is very much in keeping with the landscape and the green ethos of Eigg. Super warm and cosy with the log burner. Lucy was an excellent host, she came to pick up our bags from the pier so we could cycle to the bothy. She gave us lots of tips on things to do. No need to bring reading material as there’s an excellent library of books in the bothy. Many on local history, wildlife and the story of Eigg’s fight for community ownership. A trip we won’t forget.

    Damon2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • For anyone looking to connect back to the simple life - Sweeny’s Bothy is the place! such a delight. Wonderful location. Everything is provided for to make your stay most memorable on Eigg! Loved the stove, you can get couried up into the reading corner - literally spend hours there! I went to Sweeny’s to get my head around a current Art project- I think I found a hidden gem, I’ll be back. Just being there helped my flow. Eigg is tranquil, with so much to see around ever corner. Sunsets and views where incredible. There is so much to find out about the island history, the library is a great extra to an already well thought out space. Did I mention the outdoor shower!! It’s great. A trip here to Sweeny’s will be brilliant in every way.

    Suzy2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • A secluded, peaceful and serene bothy nestled beneath the cliffs. Enjoy views of Rum on a clear day while you sip your coffee. Chance upon grouse on your walk along that dramatic ridge rising up behind Cleadale. Sing to the hills while you shower outdoors. Don’t hesitate to stay here if you get the chance. You’re in good hands with Lucy and Eddie as your hosts.

    Kine Elisabeth2019-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had an incredible time staying at Sweeneys Bothy. Communication with Lucy was brilliant and they were excellent hosts, kindly collecting us from the ferry on our arrival. The bothy has everything you need for a relaxing couple of days on Eigg, while the views over Rum are incredible. The bothy was very well equipped with lots of charming and thoughtful details - we didn't want to leave!

  • This caravan is in one of the best locations imaginable and was the ideal place to go to really get away from it all. The caravan is basic in a comfortable and cosy way with everything you need unless you need electricity, WiFi and a phone signal. But who does when you’ve got the beach right outside the window and the most spectacular views over to Rum?

  • We had a really lovely stay at Laig Caravan. Its a very peaceful place with a beautiful scenery and the comforting company of sheep, cows and a really sweet family of rabbits. The caravan had all we need and when it is rainy outside, it gets really cozy in the van, especially when you heat up the oven. Thank you for this beautiful place, Paul & Clara

Peat-cutters Cottage is a traditional, 100-year-old, stone cottage with a larch clad kitchen extension. It is situated in a corner of our garden, surrounded by croft land and 5 minutes drive from the village of Elgol.
Inside there is a cosy sitting room with wood burning stove (some fuel provided) and tv with freesat channels. However, please be aware there is no mobile signal or WiFi in the cottage. The kitchen has an electric oven with gas hob, fridge, freezer, toaster, kettle and cafetière. There is a small double bedroom and bathroom with WC and bath with shower overhead. Peat-cutters cottage has two portable oil filled radiators as well as the wood burning stove which also heats the hot water. There is also an immersion heater for the water when you don’t have the stove on. The village of Elgol has a local shop serving coffees, cake etc, crafts and groceries. Coruisk House (winner of 2019 Taste Local Awards for best restaurant with rooms) is the only place for an evening meal, in the village, and needs to be booked well in advance. Elgol pier is also the place to take boat trips into Loch Coruisk and out to the Small Isles. The nearest supermarket is 13 miles back down the single-track road to Broadford so we suggest that you buy your provisions before you come! Broadford is also where you will find the petrol station, chemist, post office, various local craft and gift shops and a selection of restaurants.
  • Simple, comfortable cottage in stunning location and a show-stealing log burner (or should I say mini-furnace). Friendly and hospitable hosts. Highly recommended. Will definitely return.

  • Great little spot away from everything. Loved how quiet it was here :)

    David2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is an amazing place to stay, on a beautiful part of Skye. The log burner was amazing to come back to, and had been lit for our arrival which was a lovely touch. The cottage is very spacious, with great facilities and a homely feel. The drive to the cottage must be one of the most spectacular in the UK. Thank you for being fabulous hosts :)

    Hannah2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing cottage very cosy and comfy. The location is perfect if you want to relax and explore Isle of Skye.

    Larry2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • I don't think I've ever had such an amazing view while drinking my morning cup of tea: the cottage looks out onto the sea and mountains beyond, and there's hardly another house in sight. This is the perfect place to stay on Skye if you're looking for somewhere remote and beautiful where you can spend the whole day either walking or sitting by the fire. Inside the cottage is simple and very comfortable, and Susan has filled it with thoughtful touches like the little lights in the sitting room and peat for the fire so it's cosy enough to enjoy the long winter nights. The disconnection from mobile phones and wifi felt like luxury - the perfect escape from the rest of the world.

    Kate2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • The peat cutter’s cottage is absolutely charming - we didn’t want to leave! Great communication around check-in, and really appreciated the local tips, cozy fireplace (+ peat!), and beautiful views. Kitchen was well stocked and shower piping hot. Highly recommend if you are passing through!

See the sunrise over the scottish mainland, feel the wind in your hair and the grass between your toes. Come and relax in our beautiful quirky off grid shepherd's hut. Our hut has its own internal bathroom and shower with modern compost loo. Relax in a comfy armchair and light the wood burning stove for a relaxing evening. We have everything you need - double bed, bathroom, kitchen, armchairs, a cosy woodburner and outdoor seating.
Bramble Bothy is situated at the head of Loch Scresort with stunning views over to Skye and the mainland, it is perfect for a quick getaway or a long lazy stay to explore our stunning island. We have created a happy space with a low carbon footprint but without compromising on luxury.
Rum is an amazing island with breathtaking scenery. Our mountains are part of the Cuillin ridge and provide some adventurous climbing. There are a variety of low level walks across the island to visit remote beaches or historic sites. Wildlife is everywhere! Rum has its own breed of pony which can be seen grazing in the field in front of Kinloch Castle or running wild across the island. There are highland cows, feral goats and a huge herd of red deer, some of which you will see wandering around the village. If you're a keen bird watcher, look out for eider ducks, geese and divers on the loch in front of the hut. Rum is also home to Golden and white Tailed Sea Eagles and also the worlds largest population of Manx Shearwaters. Check out the Isle of Rum website for more information.
  • The Sheperds hut was not only set in the most idyllic of places but incredibly comfortable. My mum and I had such a lovely time snuggling in watching the sea and writing and reading in bed with the fire warming us after a hardy walk around the island during the day. Fliss was a wonderful host and we couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful time. I would say if you’re coming near end of season make sure to stock up on supplies, fresh veg from the mainland!

  • Charming Shepherds Hut in stunning location.

    Therese2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely couple of nights on Rum. Fliss picked me up from the ferry and dropped off my bag. Bramble Bothy is very comfortable and has everything you need including a welcoming pack with homemade fudge! Great views for wildlife spotting and a good location for the shop, Kinloch Castle and the many walks on offer. I did manage to get mobile reception to be honest lovely to be away from “the world”.

    Helen2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Sadly we never got to Rum due to an accident. However fliss was very kind and part refunded us. We will be re-booking for next year. It looked beautiful.

    Emily2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is the most wonderful place to stay. We arrived with canoe and bikes in tow (very easy to take both on the ferry to Rum) and had the most wonderful time. Fliss met us at the ferry and took our bags. The CalMac man suggested a good place to tie up our canoe and off we went for a bike ride across the island. When we returned from a magical trip watching red deer, golden eagles, assorted other wildlife and fantastic flora we went straight to the Shepherds Hut which exceeded our expectations. Beautifully made, sensitively decorated, ecologically sensitive. The pillows were fantastic, lovely cotton bedding and the bed very comfy. The view from the windows are mesmerising. Sitting watching the endless changes in the pattern of light and shifting shapes on the loch. We were entertained with fish jumping, the swallows swooping down on the water, herons wading and the pied magpie throwing their finds down to the ground to break them open. When evening came the sound of the Manx Shearwaters coming home to roost is extraordinary. All this without even leaving your bed! We made a canoe voyage around the island to another beach, cycled and walked to Kilmory Bay, the same to Harris and a whole lot more. We went with food to self cater - however did not need to have done this as the community shop is extremely well stocked. The community hall provides meals as does Fliss. Another time we would take less. This is the perfect place to explore or simply relax and read or begin that book you had always intended to write. It would make the most wonderful place for a honeymoon. I could wax lyrical for while longer - however enough to say I couldn't recommend this highly enough. ps if you are worried about the midges - Skin So Soft and a midgie hat works (they are provided). Thank you Fliss.

    Ruth2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic little cabin/hut with lovely sea views from bed. Cosy, comfortable and homely - exactly what I was looking for. I certainly will be back.

    Raju K K2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant place to stay for a couple of days. Very cosy and perfect location on the foreshore. Just what we were looking for - thanks Fliss.

    Richard2019-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sea-views for breakfast, surrounded by wildlife and a wood-burning stove - what more could you need? Our two days at Bramble Bothy were magical - if only we could have stayed longer! By day we explored wild, beautiful Rum and stayed snug at night in the cosy, beautiful bothy. Loved the low carbon ethos and Fliss was an excellent host, kindly picking up and dropping off our bags at the pier. We hope to return for a longer stay next year :)

A delight of a cottage, refurbished to a high standard at the southern end of Skye. Close to the Ferry terminal at Armadale.
Rhu House has been recently converted to a stunning 2 bed cottage. Cosy and fully equipped this is an ideal location for a couples romantic getaway or family vacation. Less than a mile from the ferry terminal in Armadale. There is a traditional public house and restaurant 200 meters down the road serving food and ales. The master bedroom upstairs, with superking size bed is and ensuite bathroom has been done to a high standard. The ensuite has a separate bath and shower. The tiled floor is eye catching. There is a separate room upstairs to play games, relax in front of the TV, read or put the children so you can relax in the living area downstairs. The kitchen, dining, living area is fully equipped and executed beautifully. The second bedroom, though not vast is ideal for 2 children. Outside there is a seating are on the deck from where you can look south to the mainland and take in a quiet and delightful area of Skye whilst enjoying views south over the mainland. Come, stay, enjoy.
  • Despite what the pictures in the listing may seem to be omitting ( an amazing view) we loved the handy access to the shore and pub. Rhu house has been very well appointed and still feels fresh and new. I always take my own pillows - as I like feathers - but the towels were fluffy the entire house sparkling and everything is as you would hope. If you are cooking make sure you find the ‘hidden drawers’ - we found the cutlery but not the plentiful supply of utensils underneath! Our note to hosts was responded too incredibly fast - deserved superhost title!

Tigh Phoil is an opportunity for travellers to experience staying in a traditional croft house on the Isle of Skye. With meter thick stone walls, the original low doorways and log burning stoves, it creates a great holiday experience.
Tigh Phoil, Elgol is a characterful and rustic croft house, perfect for couples or single travellers. It is located just off the single-track road that leads you to Elgol and is ideal for those looking to explore this stunning area of Skye. Tigh Phoil has a cosy lounge / kitchen / diner with a log burner, sofa to curl up on and a dining table with chairs. Please note there is no TV. However there is WiFi for guests to use. The kitchen area has an electric oven and hob, fridge with ice box, toaster, kettle and belfast sink. The double bedroom has a second log burner, ample seating and storage for clothes. There is a bathroom with a W.C. and a bath with a shower over. Tigh Phoil has electric panel heaters in addition to the log burners creating a cosy and rustic cottage, perfect for those looking to get away from it all! There is a supply of logs to the side of the cottage for guests to use. The cottage is surrounded by a garden with mature shrubs and a small stream running through. There are fantastic views towards the Isle of Rum from the garden, perfect for relaxing with on lazy afternoons! Important Information: Linen, towels, electricity and the final clean are included in the rental. Additional charges will only occur for breakages or any additional cleaning. It would be appreciated if the cottage was left in the same order as you found it. Many thanks! Whilst we hope that none of our guests experience issues during their stay, we do need to point out that due to the cottage's location on the Isle of Skye, some services can be tempermental and can take a lengthy delay to get resolved. Internet speed can be very slow and the service can fluctuate during the day and week. Mobile phone signal is very patchy on the Isle of Skye. Also, to replace any broken appliances, it can take weeks for a delivery to happen. We will at all times try our hardest to rectify any issues but please bear with us as there can be issues due to location that are outwith our control. Cottage directions and key information are emailed approximately 14 days in advance of the arrival date.
  • Spent Late-December and Early-January here. Such an amazing place. The cabin is so cozy and comfortable, the welcomed the days when the weather was too bad to go out as it gave us an excuse to just relax in the cabin. Lots of beautiful walks very close by and the journey round the island is just constant amazing views. Highly recommend!

  • An old cosy comfortable cottage set in beautiful countryside with amazing views. Lots of nice touches: milk, eggs, cheese, biscuits and wine on arrival. Lots of books and games and local info. Perfect away from it all holiday.

    June2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place to get away from it all. Very relaxing and cozy. Had a bit of trouble with our car (the road can be a bit treacherous for tired Yanks) but the locals were very friendly and helped out and we were having such a lovely time in the cottage and walking in Elgol that it was still a great time.

    Bryan2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Small charming house a bit far from everything. Be careful for big interior doors are low. Not really sea view, shame.

    Michel2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here, perfect place to get away from it all but a nice distance from the quay at elgol for boat trips. The bed was very comfortable and we didn’t go wanting for anything whilst we were there. Courisk house was also a very nice treat and is a stones throw away. A perfect place to stay off the main tourist routes on Skye.

  • Amazing location, spotless house with a lovely fire. Some of the best coastal walks on Skye can be accessed straight from the front door.

  • I stayed at Margaret's Airbnb for 5 nights and had such a nice stay. The area if Elgol is stunning, for the size of the property and location this was a great deal. Check in was easy as Margaret gave very thorough directions, will definitely be going back!

    Caley2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time! Elgol is a bit 'off the main road' but it's perfect for those who want to have some time for themsleves. No issues with the host and the place whatsoever.

  • Great cosy house with great view. Disconnected from the world if you want to. Great kitchen! Amazing experience at skye isle, if we come back we would choose this house once again.

  • Great location, lovely home with all the amenities you need (except shopping - stock up in Broadford!) - perfect for those wanting a break from it all, although the wifi was excellent!

  • Lovely location. Isle of skye is a fab place to visit with stunning scenery and places to go. Margaret replys quickly to any quesions asked and is a good host

'Grandview' is a beautiful, traditional, yet spacious cottage with everything you need for a very memorable holiday. The views are outstanding of the Cuillin Mountains, Rhum and Canna. There are 3 comfortable double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 spacious lounge areas with TV allowing you to spread-out and relax independently! The stove provides a glorious heat although the cottage also has full electric heating. There are many local walks/climbs and local boat-trips into Coruisk and the Cuillins.
Grandview has a very well-equipped modern kitchen with incredible views. The kitchen/dining area has a table which can easily seat 6 ( 8 at a push!) a lounge area with 2nd TV, where there is also a modern sofabed if needed. The bathroom downstairs has a large bath and the upstairs bathroom has an electric shower. The bedroom arrangements are: one king-sized bed, one double bed and one twin-bedded room. The main lounge has a multi-fuel stove and a huge bookcase full of books. There are also games, cards etc and badminton in the workshop area, for setting-up outside. The décor in Grandview is very restful: white walls throughout with stripped wooden floors downstairs and carpeted bedrooms upstairs. The garden has space for 3 cars and is fenced, allowing children to investigate and play safely. Outdoor furniture is provided for enjoying the fabulous views and eating al-fresco!
Locally, there are the famous boat trips which run into the Cuillin mountains, allowing time to explore Loch Coruisk. The Village Shop is 1 minute from the house and has a selection of essentials ( no licence ) , home-made cakes, coffee and local crafts. There are many fantastic walking routes on Skye. Favourite walks near Elgol are the Camusunary walk from near Kilmarie ( plenty of parking) which you pass on the way to the cottage. It offers a rewarding view of the Cuillins and is around a 1-1.5 hour easy walk. For the more adventurous, the climb up Blaven is also on the way to Elgol, as you pass through Torrin. Again, plenty of parking at the start of this walk and incredible views from the top! Duncan House in Kilmarie, a few miles before you reach Elgol, is a silver/swordmaking studio...not to be missed! Torrin has a charming cafe with fabulous views of Blaven and there is also a local farm shop and a lovely cafe with fabulous views of Blaven mountain .
  • The pictures don't do it justice when it comes to the view. Wow, just wow. You can just stay out there for hours, and the good thing is, it's right outside your door. It doesn't get any better than this. It's may not look like it from the outside, but it is quite a spacious house with a very cozy living room (loved the big bookcase), great kitchen (my hands very much appreciated the presence of a dishwasher), two bathrooms, and plenty of bedrooms. Preparing food while looking out over the Cuillin Hills and the ocean will put a smile on your face. The shower is in the bathroom upstairs and is definitely not for the claustrophobic, and I did taste and smell a hint of chlorine on the tapwater, so I'd suggest using it only for showering, bathing, and brushing teeth, and stocking up on bottled water at the supermarkets. Getting your car in front of the house is something to consider. It's a pretty tight angle and down from the main road, and while turning the car in the space in front of the house, be mindful of the stone step of the door. There may be room for more cars there, but I wouldn't recommend it, unless you are prepared for a lot of twisting and turning. There are notes all over the house on how to operate things (or not), but even if things are not entirely clear, Deborah will be quick to answer any questions. Would definitely go there again, but I do hope that the refrigerator will be replaced or fixed if and when I do ;-)

  • Lovely cottage, surprising spacious with everything you need. The views from the fantastic kitchen/family room are spectacular. The cottage has charm throughout, and we had a unique welcome from a wild stag grazing in the back garden. Deborah our host was spot on with everything. There is a bit of a drive Broadford to the cottage, but easily managed by being organised with supplies and a small price to pay for the views which at sunset on a clear night are breathtaking from inside the family room and the garden. I would recommend brining your camera.

    Stuart2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is cozy and inviting, with spectacular views that you’ll love to wake up to each morning. It is the perfect location if you’re looking for something quiet and wish to experience the true Highlands, complete with the scenic views, weather, and wildlife, away from the tourist attractions but accessible to all of the landmarks. And the hostess is very responsive and ready with tips and advice to make sure your stay is perfect. We definitely hope to return.

  • Wonder stay with Debbie. Has some initial trouble getting in (quickly sorted with all from a neighbor). The views, feel and comfort of the cottage cannot be overstated. It was fantastic! Very family friendly as well, with cot, high chair, and nice tub for the kids. It's a wonderful homey feel with wood stove, books, and a great kitchen. We absolutely loved it. The seclusion and drive was a plus in our books. A+++

    Naomi2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is truly an incredible place to stay! The most fantastic views, cosy fire and comfortable beds. After a long day of sightseeing this beautiful part of the world, there was nothing better than coming back and snuggling up by the fire with a book and a glass of something! The views of the sea are just outstanding, it's a place you go to and instantly relax. Deborah was so helpful and kind during our stay. We can't recommend her beautiful place enough. We will definitely be back! Thanks again.

  • Rebecca's place is just off the main road - Google maps wanted us to turn off before it so just be aware that you don't have to. Rebecca met us for check in which was very easy and she was able to give us details of the local area. Parking is on site with a short walk on a grass and stone chip path to the cabin which has a couple of steps to enter. The first thing you see is the view - it is absolutely stunning in any weather and incredibly peaceful. The cabin itself is heated with a fire effect electric heater which was able to keep the cabin warm despite the cold weather we had. It has a double bed with room under it to store bags, a chair and bedside cabinet. The small kitchen has a microwave (with microwavable egg and soup pots available) kettle and toaster and a good sized fridge with a small freezer built in. There is tea, coffee, sugar and small portions of milk provided. The shower itself is spacious and has a good toilet and sink. It is a perfect size for 1 or 2 people to base themselves with the local store and post office, Armadale Castle and a distillery all within a couple of minutes drive. The closest larger store is the co-op in Broadford. We were able to eat our evening meals locally within a few minutes drive. The cabin gets very light in the morning which was beautiful when the sun shone through and although we didn't take advantage of the outside seating area this is perfect to enjoy the view. We had a great stay and wouldn't hesitate to book again.

  • We had a wonderful short break at Esther's place. Communication quick and helpful prior to arrival. The caravan has all you need, excellent shower, the heating is instant and heats up the place very quickly, that after 10 minutes we turned it off for the rest of our break. Stunning views from the living room. Loads of DVDs to choose from for family watching in the evening. A really great place to stay in a beautiful area of Scotland.

  • In one word , one of the most memorable part of Scot trip was stay at Esther's place.. Driving Route to Mallaig was very scenic, Esther's place was very easy to locate and we received delightful welcome from Esther, the super host..The caravan was well kept and we found everything about the place so good. Located near the hills and had wonderful sea view from front side. We had plan to visit Isle of Sky the very next morning, but due to adverse weather condition we canceled the trip. But staying at Esther's place was even more enjoyable which included climbing hills next to the house, fish and chips at Mallaig harbor and beautiful sandy beach visit etc. Besides, Esther had awesome collection of DVD's and lots of board games, toys for kids. But the best part is Masha the friendly cat, kids were crazy over Masha..kids spent lots of time with Masha, even climbed the hills with us.. Masha is now part of our family, even though miles away!.. In short , Esther's place is highly recommended for if you are planning to visit Mallaig..We wish to visit back in future...

  • The mobile home is spotlessly clean and well - equipped. It is a bracing and hilly 10-15 minute walk from Mallaig but we enjoyed the stroll especially after an evening meal in the town. In fact, the seclusion of being a little out of town was welcome. The views from Esther's place are spectacular, with the light changing by the minute. Esther is a great host and clearly enjoys meeting and looking after her guests.

    Tony2019-05-16T00:00:00Z

Whilst we hope that none of our guests experience issues during their stay, we do need to point out that due to the cottage's location on the Isle of Skye, some services can be tempermental and can take a lengthy delay to get resolved. Also, to replace any broken appliances, it can take weeks for a delivery to happen. We will at all times try our hardest to rectify any issues but please bear with us as there can be issues due to location that are outwith our control. Cottage directions and key information are emailed approximately 14 days in advance of the arrival date.

Beautifully renovated old croft house with stunning views to Eigg and Rum and Knoydart. A wonderful base in Sleat "the garden of Skye" to explore this magical island. Sleeps 4. Dogs welcome. A real home from home which you will long to return to. Short breaks Nov-Feb only. Saturday changeover day.
The Old Croft House has a real home from home feel to it. We have furnished and kitted it out with everything we feel anyone will need in their holiday home, and we have tried to think of everything people might want to make their stay comfortable and enjoyable.
The stunning views, the wonderful light and large sky, the peace and quiet, the ever changing weather, the sheep and cows.....
  • I defy you to find a cosier croft on Skye than this little gem - perched on a green hillock overlooking sea and sky, it’s certainly remote which is what we were looking for, but at the same time welcoming from the moment you walk in the door. We enjoyed walks all over the island despite Storm Dennis but especially loved coming back each evening to our cosy nook. And I bet it is even more magical in the summer!

    Lucy2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cozy cottage. Stunning location, fantastic views. Private and quiet. A great secure large garden for our little dog to run around safely in. Only a 2 minute walk from the garden down the field to the private cove. Everything well catered for, a real home from home. We loved our stay.

    Maggie2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Alison's cottage was cosy, warm and felt just like home with bread and cookies waiting for us on our arrival! Everything you might need during your stay you will find in the cottage, there is plenty of room and our dog loved it there, too! The whole cottage is surrounded by a fence so the dog couldn't get away. The area around the cottage is beautiful and peaceful. Keep in mind that the single track road is sometimes very steep and narrow though! Thank you, Alison, for a wonderful time!! We would love to come back!

    Valeska2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely relaxing time at this well appointed cosy cottage, which feels very homely. There is only the sounds of nature and beautiful views of Eigg and the Knoydart peninsula for company. We saw eagles, deer, otters and seals in Skye. The single track roads are a rollercoaster, just like the weather - all part of the rugged charm of the place. Thank you for the supplies awaiting us after our epic journey here from South coast England!!

    Liane2019-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Old Croft House is a beautiful little cottage for those wishing to retreat into the beautiful scenery of this quiet corner of the island or for those planning to explore Skye more widely by car. The area around the cottage itself is beautiful with incredible views and great walks / hilly runs down to the nearby beaches. We spent some lovey mornings around the house but most of our time driving to other parts of the island for walks and lovely dinners. Strongly recommend doing this as there is so much to see and although you’ll spend some hours behind the wheel of the car the scenery is so breathtaking and the roads interesting enough that it won’t feel like time wasted. Getting a copy of the Good Food Guide will also serve you well as when we visited in 2019 there were more than enough restaurants on Skye that had made the cut for this national book of Britain’s best eating spots. In terms of the house, it was warm, comfortable and clean. Beautiful views, very well located and in-keeping with the wider aesthetic. Loved it!

  • What a gorgeous cottage. It's everything you could ask for. Stunning views and great access to the rest of the wonderful Isle of Skye. Would highly recommend.

  • Breath taking views on arrival, the setting is much more amazing than what can be caught on camera. We used it as a base to stay for walking, whiskey tours and exploring the island. There is a great bar and restaurant with fresh food 10 minutes drive down the road for an evening out, it also has a side bar that has sports etc. We would definitely recommend this little cottage to anyone looking for a quiet and remote stay on the island of Skye - incredible place!

    Dan2019-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Alisons place is in a lovely secluded spot away from most of the other tourists. Double bed very comfy and very much appreciated the black out blinds. Would advise for a longer stay, as although a beautiful area to explore and relax in, it is quite far from the main A road in skye and thus journeys to top attractions a little longer. But lovely!!!
