Places to stay in Montford Area Historic District, Asheville
This one bedroom, one bath studio is located in the back of my beautifully restored 1920s bungalow in downtown Asheville.
The studio apartment, located in the back part of my house, is decorated with a mix of modern and vintage furniture. Some have been in my life for a long time, some brand new to the space, and art made by me hangs on the walls. There's a small kitchenette with table and chairs, a bedroom with exposed brick from an old cooks stove and a living area with a futon-style couch. The full bath has a claw foot tub/shower that has a custom copper curtain rod and antique heirloom vanity. This is a perfect retreat for two people.
The beauty of the house not only lies in all of its charm, but also in it's location! There's a unique Whole Foods, called Greenlife, right across the street and Trader Joes is a couple blocks up from that. If you fancy yoga, Asheville Yoga Center is about three blocks away, on Liberty Street. In the other direction, a lovely greenway runs along Reeds Creek, or you can simply stroll around the eclectic neighborhood. Historic Montford, one the oldest neighborhoods (and in my humble opinion, the most beautiful), is a block away and the architecture is truly inspiring. My favorite coffee shop sits at the bottom of the street, called High Five Cafe. Don't let the hip tattooed baristas intimidate you- the coffee is delicious! Most importantly, all of downtown is just a 5-10 minute walk, complete with shopping, museums, restaurants, breweries, bars and music venues.
  • My husband and I could not have asked for a better place to stay for our long weekend in Asheville! Christal’s place is so cozy, well decorated, and close enough that we could walk downtown! We loved it.

    Samantha2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great area. Quiet neighborhood. Quaint spot with everything I needed. Christal was quick to answer questions and helped with local info when I had a flat tire. Would love to stay again.

    Zorka2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Christal's place is lovely. It's a very stylish, clean, and comfortable spot that's close to downtown. Highly recommend.

    Katie2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Christal's studio was exactly as described! Beautiful spot and would highly recommend! Walkable to everything :)

    Leah2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place was clean, spacious and had great amenities! Walking distance to downtown which was extremely convenient! The bed was so comfortable and the room was quiet, private and decorated beautifully. Would definitely stay again on my next visit to this awesome city!

    Julianne2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cozy, relaxing stay. Loved the rustic style and made it convenient to explore Asheville!

    Jon2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Christal’s place is fantastic! It’s even cuter than the pictures. So centrally located that once we arrived, we walked everywhere. The kitchen is equipped with coffee maker, stovetop, oven, mini fridge and microwave so we ate in one night. Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s are half a block away. Christal’s response was always prompt. We appreciated that she had a hair dryer, shampoo, cotton swabs and body lotion in the bathroom. There is even a noise machine, which is great! We always bring a fan to drown out unfamiliar sounds. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. We walked to a greenway park for a jog and walked to downtown. The apartment is a quarter mile from Asheville Yoga Center. I cannot say enough nice things about Christal’s accommodations. It was probably the cleanest AirBnB that I’ve ever stayed in. We will definitely be back!

A beautiful one-hundred year old historic home in the Montford neighborhood. 3 blocks from the center of town, 5-15 minute walk to everything. Hot tub, high speed wi-fi, cable tv, mini-fridge, outdoor spaces for relaxation, gourmet kitchen.
This home is a quick 5 minute walk from the center of downtown. This historic neighborhood is peaceful, yet only a short walk to all the fun activities downtown. This is the calendar for the Green Room. Fantastic restaurants nearby, the Pritchard Park drum circle, the US Cellular Center, and St. Lawrence Basilica are only three blocks away. We are a 5 minute drive from UNCA.. You won't need to move your car once you are settled in, unless you decide to go to the Biltmore Estate and Biltmore Village, 10 minutes away. Easy access to the Blue Ridge parkway, NC Arboretum, Folk Art Center and much more!
I love the beautiful old historic homes in this Montford neighborhood. My house dates from circa 1910, termed a "Victorian cottage", and built by Richard Sharp Smith. Many of the homes in the neighborhood date from the 1880's. This Victorian neighborhood was the first suburb of Asheville. It is very quiet and friendly. Lots of beautiful walking opportunities around the neighborhood.
  • A beautiful house and very good hosts. Very close to downtown Asheville!

    Susan2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Rita is excellent! I've stayed with her three times, and it's been great every time!

    Edward2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Rita’s place is the perfect spot for an Asheville getaway. Located very close to downtown (less than 5 min walk), in a very cute neighborhood, you really can’t beat it. Especially since there’s a hot tub! Everything was clean, quiet, and you get to stay in an amazingly historic home right where you’d want to be in Asheville. If the space is available, book right now! Go!

    Ben2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This spot is very special and I cannot recommend it enough! Rita and Jeff are both so very kind and welcoming, giving us a quick tour and information about the place when we checked in. Rita was also able to accomodate and early check-in for us which was so awesome and very much appreciated! The house is beautiful with so much awesome historic architecture still intact. The outdoor space and hot tub are also amazing! There was coffee and little pastries offered in the morning which was a great touch and saves a trip to a coffee shop. The location is perfect with just a couple blocks until you are right downtown. I cannot stress enough how great of a place this is! Thank you Rita and Jeff!

    Emily2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome home! Awesome family. Clean, perfect location, and very affordable. Thank you, Rita! Next time I’ll take some piano lessons.

    Kyle2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous house and very clean!

    Stephanie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Rita welcomed us into her beautiful home as if we were long-time friends. The stay was wonderful, and I can't imagine a better location for a visit to Asheville. We are already talking about our next visit!

    Ken2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful old (in a good way) house. Nicely decorated and spacious. It is in a great location too. Jeff was a very welcoming and helpful host (unfortunately, Rita was under the weather.) Loved having the opportunity of getting in some QT with their sweet kitties, Sash and Sebastian as well. I’ll be back!

Large oak trees create a lush background echoing the seasonal changes, with plentiful shade in the summertime, vibrant hues in the fall, and much needed sunshine through the winter & spring. Meandering down Cumberland or Montford Ave simply to admire each unique home is a favorite pastime of locals & visitors alike. After 10 years in Asheville, I still love soaking in the unique history of each expertly designed property.
  • Elizabeth and her immaculate, charming space are awesome! The special details of the home are lovely, as were here amazing local suggestions which lead to a wonderful trip. She was incredibly helpful and thoughtful every step of the way, and I will definitely return next time I’m in town. It’s a perfect location near everything you’d want to experience. Definitely take advantage of the deck in the morning- so lovely :)

    Jessie2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying with Elizabeth. It was very convenient to walk around and explore but feel at home when we got back!

  • Elizabeth’s apartment is great! The style is so cute, very clean, and the location is perfect! 5 minute drive to downtown with the coziness of the historic neighborhood— we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in Asheville!

    Elizabeth2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location, clean, comfortable, great views! Space heaters were perfect for the snowy weather. If we had been able to, would’ve walked more but due to the cold the short (<5 min) drive or Lyft into downtown was easy peasy. Cute cafe in walking distance, even if it’s cold. Would love to stay again.

    Jesse2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Elizabeth is a great host! Place is very clean, close to Downtown, also supplied bath towels and extra blankets. Would stay again!

Montford is a beautiful historic neighborhood with tree lined streets that are great for walking. Montford is just north of downtown and a quick walk to great restaurants, breweries and shopping. Though most of Montford is residential we do have a few culinary gems. Tod's Tasties is like a second home for us and is just up the street from the apartment. Wonderful food, great vibe, and oh so Asheville :) Another fantastic spot in the neighborhood is "9 mile", a Jamaican fusion joint that is great for lunch or dinner :)
  • Great space. Stylishly decorated and fun to stay in. Excellent location with all the amenities we needed.

  • Clean, perfect location and great communication. Cozy accomodations and easy check in. Place seems to be a family home, not a dedicated Airbnb. That didn't impact our stay at all, but it was a new experience for me in Airbnb rentals, so I wanted to mention it. Enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

She was extremely generous, quick to respond, and even extended our check-out time as we were getting ready to go to our friends' wedding and needed an extra hour or so to get ready. Her space was super clean and very cozy. We will definitely be back when in Asheville--I would highly recommend staying here! Thanks, Penny!

  • Carly was a great host. House was perfect for 2 to 4....Beds very comfortable. Priced right. I could hear the interstate traffic at night. Was able to drown out most of it with white noise machine. Carly communicated great. Had issue figuring out tv a little. Carly walked us thru. I would stay there again especially in summer when downtown is more alive.

WALK to the Grove Arcade. Return from Town and sip some wine on your private deck before venturing out for the evening. Enjoy your soaking tub before retiring into Luxurious Bamboo Sheets THE SOFTEST sheets you will EVER Experience & cuddle up with a Sherpa blanket. Enjoy high ceilings, a desk/work nook with polished Concrete floors. Chillaxin? Lounge on the couch, watch cable TV or take a Yoga mat & stretch - or kick back on the large covered deck, watch the rain and sip your morning coffee.
This is the entire lower level of my new recently built craftsman home. Since the house is built into a hill here in Montford, the "lower" level is easily 20 feet above the backyard has a large deck with a view of the trees. I recently renovated it and the floor is a polished concrete. Since I live in the upper level, you will hear me and my dogs above you, walking around. And life! I sleep on the 3rd level, and do my best to keep quiet after 10pm above you. I have a HUGE issue with beds being completely heavenly! I LOVE to sleep... if it was an Olympic sport, I'd win. I only have the BEST bamboo sheets, and the same goes for my guests. You'll see in the comments - that people LOVE the bed and bedding. I can't promise to fix your sleeping issues, but I can promise that you will love the luxury and time in these sheets. It is a very cozy, warm and welcoming space. The high ceilings give it a true feeling of staying in a modern loft. There is a fridge, microwave, a kuerig with a variety of coffee - plus creme and sugar. And two waters in the fridge - add a Bevita and you have a lite bite continental breakfie before going out and about on the town!
Okay, I AM a TERRIBLE photographer. The number one comment people say when they arrive is: Wow, the pictures don't do it justice. Sigh, that means the good news is that you too may be pleasantly surprised...
  • Good, clean place; communicative and reliable host.

  • Tori’s place was perfect for our romantic getaway! Very easy check in and check out. Next time we visit the Asheville area we will definitely see if this place is available.

    Brooke2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend Tori's place! Great space and location easily walkable or short uber drive to many great places in Asheville.

    Glen2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Two words come to mind to describe Tori's Airbnb. Perfect & comfortable. Not one complaint from me, my wife or daughter. Tori met us and showed us around upon check in. Then we had some brief and engaging conversation. I could've talked to her all evening! Everything is so comfortable! Outdoor patio furniture, couch and the dreamy bed. We were visiting Asheville for the weekend. We loved the space so much we decided the last evening to stay in, order food and play games as a family. Just a perfect weekend. Thank you Tori for being a huge reason for it!

  • Tori, Your place was a beautiful contribution to a very special few days for Ana and me to get away from Atlanta and relax in Asheville! Everything was very clean, thoughtfully appropriated, simple, easy, warm, cozy, comfortable. • Anna and Molly’s Airbnb was literal perfection! By reading the reviews, I knew this place was going to be well above average, but I never expected to feel so at ease, at home, and attended to as I did in their carriage house! For starters, the bed...those fluffy towels, the little cup of Dove chocolates (dark and milk, thank you for seeing me), the full chilled Brita pitcher of water in the fridge, as well as local craft beers, were enough to make me never want to leave. Every minute detail was thought through, well done, and aesthetically pleasing. Communication was super fast, friendly, and informative. They even offered to waive the fees if we chose to cancel in light of recent events. Angels! I wish I’d had 100 more days to spend in Asheville in our Airbnb, but alas, all good things come to an end. We hope to be back ASAP. I wish I could rate higher than 5 stars because Anna and Molly knocked it out of the park.

    Abby2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Anna and Molly were so nice and helpful! They accommodated to us arriving early and the pictures show the place perfectly!! It was so beautiful and clean and just a 15min walk to downtown and 5min walk to some restaurants near by. Would definitely rebook!

  • Suite Magnolia is a perfect, luxurious and comfortable place to stay during our getaway weekend to Asheville. Anna and Molly are wonderful and responsive hosts. Checking in and out was extremely easy with spot-on instructions. The suite is thoughtfully appointed and every little touch is just right. My husband and I felt so welcomed the minute we walked in - the beers in the fridge, the coffee beans in the drawer and the welcome note with brief instructions and neighborhood recommendations and many other touches all make Suite Magnolia an incredible place to stay while in Asheville. We highly recommend!

Cozy+Modern. Walk to downtown. Totally private space on our lower level with separate entrance, private deck, BR, LR, bathroom. Queen memory foam bed, natural products, filtered water, coffee/tea, mini-fridge, microwave, fans, AC/Heat. No access to the rest of our house - just this private space as seen in pics. Free street parking in front of the house/in front of the Airbnb outdoor stairway. Quiet Historic Montford neighborhood - 10 minute walk up the street and across the bridge to downtown!
Our home is a Healthy Green Built Home built in 2014 with an all new build-out for this private Airbnb space finished in October 2017. The Airbnb space is on our lower level and there is no access to the upper floors where we live. The Airbnb space is still above ground. Every attention to detail has been made for your ultimate comfort from the use of space, privacy, convenience, and tons of natural light. That portion of our house is all yours. The interior is meticulously clean and minimal with some of my artwork throughout the space to add a pop of color. Architectural details include locally harvested Ash wood benches, shelves, and countertops. The spacious walk-in shower has a fun, wavy ceramic tile and granite floors with a rain shower showerhead and an additional shower wand. Other amenities include all linens and towels, organic/natural bath products, ROKU streaming TV and movies, adjustable heat/AC, ceiling fans, iron + mini-ironing board, a closet, hangers, a mini refrigerator, microwave, coffee pod machine, hot water boiler, plates, bowls, glasses, utensils, knives, bottle openers, fresh filtered water, fresh organic half & half and an assortment of snacks, coffee and teas. Just a note about the “kitchen” - Asheville does not permit an oven/stove in short-term rental units. Airbnb requires a kitchenette: a microwave, mini-refrigerator, coffee maker, and hot water boiler. So... To be in ordinance with both Airbnb and Asheville, we have only those required and approved appliances - but you’re here to EAT/DRINK Asheville! Your private outdoor deck space is a welcome respite from all that eating and drinking... there are 100 year oaks shading your sunny south-facing deck with cushions and plenty of seating. A perfect spot to relax anytime of day. Or open both of the massive double French doors to the deck and bring the outdoors in. The quiet and charming neighborhood is full of trees and wildlife. At times you can forget you are just a short distance from downtown.
Historic Montford is one of the oldest and most established neighborhoods in Asheville and the proximity to downtown (which is pretty incredible) makes it an ideal location. Not only that, it’s a real neighborhood with charming tree lined streets, a mix of historic and modern / green-built homes, friendly neighbors, old trees and native plant gardens, and some fine local food - all within steps to the heart of downtown Asheville. Please note that we are in the heart of these magnificent mountains so there will be hills to manage when on foot - throughout the neighborhood and in town. To walk to downtown it is about a 10 minute walk (HALF the walk is UP HILL) to the top of Montford Avenue where you cross the bridge to enter the downtown area. The Asheville tourist office is right there too, and they are incredibly helpful and offer local bookings to points of interest. There is also a hop-on/hop-off bus tour of Asheville that stops at the tourist office as well. Worth a stop in! Culture and other experiences right in Montford include: The Montford Park Players Shakespearean Outdoor Globe Theatre. Montford Arts Festival. Montford Studio Stroll. Montford Holiday Home Tour. Nearby: Montford Greenway connects to UNC Asheville Botanical Gardens foot paths + Farmers Market on Saturdays, also on the campus of UNC Asheville.
  • The perfect location for a week in Asheville! Walkable to downtown and such a well designed space. Would definitely recommend!

  • Mary’s house was the clean, modern escape we needed! It was exactly as shown in the photos and had everything we needed for our weekend. The location is perfect- we walked to downtown and easily Ubered as well. Highly recommend!

  • Outstanding! The beautiful pictures do not do it justice! It’s so much better in person. Very comfortable! You can tell every inch of charm was hand picked to make your stay relaxing. The neighborhood was quiet and friendly and just a 10 minute walk to downtown. We will definitely be back!

    Tegan2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place very close to downtown. Amazing cafe at the corner with great food. It was called all day darling. The apartment had a very private entrance and was absolutely beautiful. Special touches everywhere coffee pods and chocolates. We had a wonderful time.

    Dwight2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cannot say enough great things about these wonderful hosts and their charming home. We have chosen to stay here multiple times because it truly feels like a getaway- everything from the rainfall shower to the magical back porch! It’s hard to find a great place within walking distance to downtown, so we really hit the jackpot when we found this abode! It is so nice to know we always have an incredible and reliable “spot” to stay at when we return to Asheville. We can’t wait to return many, many more times in the future!

    Lindsey2020-02-09T00:00:00Z

Perfectly situated blocks from downtown in a quiet historic neighborhood. Every element has been curated to create a special experience, including original artwork and hand-painted furniture, cotton linens & comfy bed. A beautiful en-suite bath has been designed for your convenience. Enjoy coffee, tea & snacks, while gazing at the backyard. A mini fridge, electric kettle, coffee maker, toaster oven & kitchenware are supplied. Please note there is NO kitchen. Guest wing with private entrance. Smoking permitted outside. For dog vistors, you MUST ask for pet guidelines before booking.
I have 2 airbnb rooms, that have very similar features and feel. So if this room does not have the availability you are seeking.. check out the other room, The Sweet Spot - https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/6503015. The Boutique Room is a nice size bedroom with private ensuite bathroom in a separate guest wing in back of the house. The most important things for me are: clean and fresh, nice ambiance (decor), firm cozy bed, with quality linens, hot water and good pressure in shower and an area you can make a snack, coffee or tea. The room is equipped with a small fridge, toaster oven, electric kettle and coffee maker some basics (condiments, tea, coffee) and utensils. Original art work enhances wall spaces. Air Conditioning for hot summer days. A table with 2 chairs, for hanging out. There are lots of great little extras. I am happy to stock granola, organic yogurt and milk, good coffee, fruit and if you have something you love, just ask! You have a semi-private entrance, so if you are out and about late, no worries. There is a true feeling of privacy in the back of the house. Green fenced in backyard with table and chairs to relax - smokers welcome outside. Your safety is important to me - Locks on guest doors, fire extinguishers, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, safety card, motion sensor lights by entrances, and off street parking etc.. My driveway can accommodate 2 medium size SUV. If you have a very large SUV or truck you may have to park on street where there is typically ample parking. Only 3 blocks to town where you can enjoy many restaurants, breweries, galleries, shops , Asheville Yoga Studio (about 7 blocks) and more. Best of both worlds: close to the downtown, but quiet space when you are ready to relax. Dogs are welcome, but please check in with me BEFORE you book, so that I can send the pet rules to be sure you can abide by them. Fenced in yard for romping. We love animals. There is a $10 Pet fee per visit. I have tried to think of all the necessities, lots of conveniences, and many luxurious extras. I want you to feel at home and pampered. If there is something I missed, I am open to suggestions and requests. Most of the beautiful photos were taken by an Airbnb photographer with a wide angle lens that does distort the room size a bit.
This home is in the charming, historic Montford which has beautiful Victorian homes, tree-lined streets, and fabulous gardens. It is just three blocks to town, where there are cafes, music, and shopping.
  • Great spot. Quick walk to downtown but just far enough out to be quiet at night. Very thoughtful host. Beautiful space with a huge, new shower. Spotless. She put extra work into sanitizing the entire space (stayed during 2020 pandemic, so very important). Asked for additional tissues and received them immediately. Really great stay. Highly recommend.

  • My husband and I enjoyed our stay here. It was clean and the bed was comfy. Elizabeth provided everything we needed. It was super close to downtown. I would definitely recommend staying here.

    Christine2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed my stay and all the thoughtful touches Elizabeth has made. The room is very nicely decorated, clean and included spa type bath and toiletries. Fresh fruit, breakfast materials and private entrance from main house with a fenced in yard for my dogs.

  • Fantastic location. Elizabeth was very accommodating and helpful with everything we needed.

    Sam2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place in a convenient location. Could not have asked for a better place to stay for a weekend getaway.

    Jonathan2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect place to accommodate the two of us with our dog, and what we expected, given the location and previous reviews. Knowing Asheville pretty well, it's sometimes difficult to find a place when you want to bring your dog for a quick weekend getaway, and still be close enough to walk to all the majority of the breweries and downtown, without having to overpay, or be too far out that you have to drive. Elizabeth was fantastic, and communicated the instructions, and anything else that we needed as well!

    Ben2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Lizzy’s place was fantastic. Exactly what we needed for our getaway to Asheville.

    Brittany2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Lizzy's place! It was quaint and cozy, included thoughtful amenities, and was walkable to some great spots in Asheville. It served as a perfect getaway for us, and we would definitely return if our travels take us back that way.

  • Terry’s place is the perfect private relaxing getaway. It was clean with great amenities. Terry provides complete privacy & is literally a super host. Great stay!!!!

    Takia2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our visit to Terry’s flat was terrific. We were struck by the cleanliness, wide array of amenities, serene location and stylish comfortability of her unit. All of our needs were fully met by the thoughtfulness of the owner. My only concern relates to the long set of stairs to the lower level. The descent is safe and well lit ( just as Terry advertised) but prospective visitors should take note of this circumstance. I highly recommend this lovely and tranquil unit to Airbnb participants.

    Tom2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Super communicative host. Very quick to respond to any questions. The apartment was amazing! Very cool layout and very very clean. Lots of amenities were provided as well as local information. The apartment was locating in a beautiful, quiet, and peaceful wooded area, but still very close driving/uber distance to downtown Asheville and nightlife. I would love to stay here again on my next visit to Asheville!

    William2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • I chose this place based on location and so many 5 star reviews and positive comments. Terry is the perfect host, respectful of your space but available and helpful when needed. The place was immaculate and the bed was so comfy I slept like a rock. Central location offers quick access to most any part of Asheville. Lovely stay, will be back!

Charming, recently restored, and conveniently-located folk Victorian house (circa 1890s) within walking distance or short drive to downtown (3/4 mile to center of town) 2 BRs with queen size beds and one semi-private bedroom/sunroom with full-size futon (located off master bedroom). Heart of pine floors, clawfoot tub, wi-fi, smart tv. See list of amenities and photo album for more details. Pet fee $50 per pet.
Beautifully restored home with 10-foot high ceilings, clawfoot tub, study, and full kitchen. Each of the two main bedrooms has a comfortable queen-size bed; the 3rd bedroom/sunroom is semi-private and is just off one of the bedrooms. Although the 3rd bedroom/sunroom does have a door for privacy, to access the bathroom and other parts of the house it is necessary to go through the main bedroom...this is usually not an issue with most guests. It also has a door that leads out to the front porch. Please see photos for a sense of the layout of the house. Fine art photographic prints are displayed throughout the home. There is also a back patio with table and chairs.
Our house is convenient to neighboring grocery stores (Wholefoods, Trader Joe's, and Harris Teeter). Highlights for exploring the neighborhood by foot and/or bike include downtown Asheville, UNCA Botanical Gardens and extension forest, Reed Creek Greenway, and historic Montford (including Riverside Cemetery).
  • I am so glad I chose this adorable house for my month long stay. Everything about it was wonderful, from location to the fenced yard to the owner’s responsiveness. There were beautiful fresh flowers upon arrival and lots of info available on local places to check out. The owner has added some eco-friendly touches which I really appreciated. My little old dog absolutely loved the yard and one-level living. This house is walking distance to Harris Teeter, Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. I enjoyed walking to yoga at Asheville Yoga Center and having coffee/brunch after at Liberty House Cafe. Soaking in the large tub was very relaxing. My friends came up to visit one weekend and also fell in love with the house. It’s so cute, convenient and stylish. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Muriel’s house was a gem. If you want a place that’s located close to downtown, comfortable and welcoming, uncluttered, and charming, you’ll love staying here. It’s a small thing, but my friend appreciated how the fridge was spotless and didn’t have leftover condiments from previous guests. I felt like the beds were comfortable and the rooms were very spacious. Muriel’s suggestions were helpful too. My mom really enjoyed sitting on the front porch and listening to the rain. We all appreciated Muriel’s efforts and enjoyed the house. 💛

Historic Montford home. 3 blocks from the civic center and downtown. This is an old home in a wonderful neighborhood. The space has 2 bedrooms and 1 bath with a common hallway area where you’ll find a small fridge, coffee and snacks. The larger room has a king and an air mattress is available. The space has character, very comfortable, very clean, and very convenient to all that asheville has to offer. It’s short walk to downtown, coffee shops, restaurants, bars and breweries.
Old home in historic neighborhood. You’ll have the whole 2nd floor to yourselves and access to the front yard and porch. There is a private stairwell to the second floor. There are two bedrooms, and a bathroom. In the common hallway you’ll find coffee and a fridge, 6 pack of local beers and some snacks provided. I live on the first floor. We may see each other come and go but the spaces are separate and private
Montford is just north of downtown. The Flint Street House is 3 blocks(on the same street!) from the civic center in historic Montford. This neighborhood is full of great architecture and parks.

  • What a great place! The neighborhood and location are completely perfect. The residential area is perfect for walks and walks to local restaurants that are spectacular. PLUS the added bonus of being so close to downtown. Such an easy walk after a day of Cideries and wine! Micha was so helpful and attentive and responded to my texts almost immediately. Even though there is a dog, I didn't hear a sound. The place was super clean with a small frig for my white wine, coffee in the morning, and fluffy white towels for my shower in the morning.

  • Great place, great location. Lydia and Victor are very nice and accommodating.

    Gary2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lydia and Victor's place was the calm in the middle of an otherwise chaotic trip to Asheville. I was there for an overnight to look at a college campus with my son. My estimated arrival time changed several times, and I worried about being able to meet up with Lydia and Victor for check-in. But they responded to my changing plans quickly, and with flexibility. They could not be there for check-in, but they made arrangements for me that covered every detail. The inside of the house was even labeled with sticky notes, so finding my room was very easy. They were readily available by phone, and they offered to run over to the house if needed... and it was not needed. The bedroom was neat and pleasant, and the bonus room made it feel like a fairly large hotel room. The little fridge was a nice touch. They made the whole thing easy. My only regret was not being able to spend a little time with them, because I was rushing around. Although, on a positive note, they were clearly available, and also non-intrusive.

Relax in a hammock chair on the front porch of this restored century-old home. Enjoy your morning coffee in the naturally-lit cozy kitchen. With two queen beds (in separate bedrooms) and a comfy sleeper sofa in the family room, come with friends or family to enjoy time together in Asheville. Of 200+ 5-star reviews, guests Matthew & Belinda sum it up nicely: This place was AWESOME! We have stayed at AirBNBs all over the world, and this was the best stocked, best cleaned place - and with more helpful suggestions - than we have ever stayed at! We wanted for nothing! And we walked to EVERYTHING!
Location is key, and to get a homebase like this - the entire top floor with two bedrooms (two queen beds), family room with double sleeper sofa, one full private bathroom with deep tub/shower and kitchenette - makes Asheville all the more accessible and enjoyable. My home is nestled in the historic Five Points and Montford neighborhoods. Zelda Fitzgerald, wife of writer F. Scott, died in fire at nearby Highland Hospital. Thomas Wolfe, O. Henry and other writers are buried at nearby Riverside Cemetery. Asheville's historic downtown is just a few blocks away - a six-minute leisurely walk via sidewalks along the same street, Broadway, where the property resides. Whether it's a long three-day weekend or an extended stay, make the most of your time while in Asheville by quickly getting the fridge stocked at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's, just a 90-second walk, then jumpstart your day with a cup of coffee from High Five, one minute away. End the day at Little Jumbo, a popular neighborhood bar just 30 seconds away. Afterward take a walk along the Reed Creek Greenway just two blocks down the street, which connects to the University of NC- Asheville's Botanical Gardens and campus. In the kitchenette, you'll find a Ninja coffee maker , a toaster, and a hot plate beneath the countertop. There's also a tea kettle for making tea and other hot beverages or food. Parking is free and easy, with off-street parking for up to two cars, directly behind the house. Bicycle enthusiasts can leave their bikes securely in the first floor hallway.
My two-bedroom AirBnB is set in the Five Points area of Asheville, only one minute's walk from lively coffee shops, eateries and pubs like Five Points Diner, Little Jumbo, High Five Coffee and Archetype Brewery. Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s are a minute's walk from the back parking lot. Our vibrant downtown is within a five-minute walk from the front door. You can park here for free and enjoy the best of Asheville without having to find pricey parking space in downtown Asheville.

We think you'll love our space. It's quirky, comfortable, and stylish--a bit like Asheville, really. This studio apartment has a private entrance and is a quick walk downtown or bike ride to the River Arts District (RAD). Our clean, modern space is your perfect launch pad for brewery tours, culinary interests or explorations of all the wild beauty the local Blue Ridge has to offer.
Aside from all the standard amenities you'll need to jumpstart your Asheville vacation, we provide: coffee (from our favorite local roasters, Mountain Air) and a sample of local beers. We can also provide restaurant recommendations or help charting a perfect Parkway hike. This space is perfect for couples (one plush double bed) but can accommodate up to four people with a small sofa bed. Parking: We have a small vintage green truck parked on the left side of our house. You are welcome to park on the street in front of this truck as it ensures you a spot closest to the entrance to your Airbnb space. The house is on a somewhat busy street but there is ample parking up and down our side of the street. If you have any issue with parking, please let us know and we will happily move vehicles to accommodate as needed. The unit is also limited by City of Asheville ordinances which prevent us from having a full kitchen in the space, but there is a small fridge and a microwave (these are the limits of what the City will allow us to have). We are fully permitted with the City (see permit picture with the photos of the unit). The space is also all common with a bed on an elevated area of the unit. There is no separate bedroom. The unit is accessed via exterior steps and has a private entrance on the left side as you're facing the front of the house. These steps have compacted gravel treads and the stairs have a full handrail and are well lit. If you have issues with stairs for access, please do not book with us. Asheville is very hilly! This is a pet-friendly space (we love to travel with our pup, too!) though we do ask that it be limited to one dog. We can make exceptions in advance but since other animals live in our home, one clean, quiet, and potty-trained pup is preferred. A one time extra cost of $25 will be applied to your stay. Additional will be charged if significant cleaning is required or there are any damages to the unit. Please let us know in advance if you're planning to bring a pup! For any green building nerds out there, the house is near energy positive with a solar panel array and extensive energy efficiency modifications. Our heating system uses local 100% biodiesel based fuel oil (it comes from waste oil generated by restaurants and businesses around town!).
Our space is located in the Historic Montford Neighborhood of Asheville just steps from Asheville's bustling downtown. With it's historic homes and wide sidewalks, this neighborhood is perfect for relaxed strolls to some of our favorite spots: All Day Darling, Chiesa, Nine Mile, Little Jumbo, and High Five Coffee.
  • Wonderful stay at Maggie’s - would stay again! Stylish, convenient, comfortable.

    Tallulah2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • This place was wonderful! Maggie was a great host and made sure we had everything we needed. The space was very cute. It was about 20-25 walk to breweries and a 5 minute walk to a nice cafe. I highly recommend this place for couples and small families who want to enjoy Asheville!

    Maggie2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, very clean, and bigger than we expected. Maggie's place is in a friendly, quiet neighborhood, only a 5-10 minute walk to downtown. Because the apartment was such a cool space, we actually spent a decent amount of time just hanging out there. When we go to Asheville, we know where we're staying. Thanks again Maggie!

    Sarah2020-03-07T00:00:00Z

  • Absolutely perfect location for two people. Right in the heart of downtown and a short walk to just about anywhere. Parking is in a public garage about a 2 minute walk away (multiple parking locations and maps were sent by the host prior to arrival which was so helpful), rates are about $12 per day. The loft is above an excellent wine bar, and it seems they have live music playing until 11/12PM most weekends. This wasn’t an issue for me as I’m used to city noise, but that should be expected given this location. You can lightly hear some of the music, but the host has a wonderful white noise machine that made it practically muted. I can’t wait to come back, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone who is looking for a good time in AVL.

    Anthony2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

  • A wonderful oasis in the heart of downtown! Beautiful touches throughout and amazing location. A wine bar right downstairs! If a live band is playing you can hear the music but they shutdown the live music and close at a reasonable hour so was perfect for when we were heading to bed.

  • This place is in a great location! Right in the middle of everything. We parked at the Civic Center garage and never had to use our vehicle for the whole weekend. Check-in was a breeze and Celeste was a great host. The music at the bar downstairs lasted until midnight, but was not that big of a deal. We would love to stay here again!

Welcome to our private downstairs apartment that has been lovingly renovated to offer easy comfort minutes from the heart of downtown Asheville. Nestled on a quiet cottage lane, our space offers a clean, welcoming and private space that is easy walking to coffee houses, pubs, restaurants and the civic center (4 blocks away).
1 bedroom apartment walking distance to downtown Asheville, no need for Uber (save $). Eco friendly with many added touches to make your stay relaxing and comfy. Coffee, tea, organic breakfast, microwave (for heating up those yummy leftovers from the many amazing restaurants near by), fridge. Fun decor, quality linens, comfy bed.
Montford is an adorable historic district right in the heart of downtown Asheville. The coffee shop is a 3 minute walk, the neighborhood pub, a 4 minute walk, delicious local restaurants, the greenway that takes you to the botanical gardens and UNCA where the tailgate market is happening every Saturday morning. Or you could head into downtown, 3 blocks in the other direction to find all of the eclectic shops, food, breweries and music that make Asheville worth visiting,
  • The simplicity of the space, which is incredibly well designed, made it an easy, low stress location with little kids. Great location near downtown but a nice walk away with access to groceries, breweries, and restaurants. Asheville had some hills so be prepared to walk them! Thank you, Kelly and Rick, for putting together such a great guest home.

  • You can't beat Kelly's place when it comes to location---and to top it off, it was sparkling clean, cute and cozy, and they provided anything/everything you might need. Great communicators and easy check-in, too. Highly recommend, and a great value, too!

  • This is a quaint but modern space that was perfect for a girls weekend in Asheville. The location is great, it’s decorated adorably, and there are little details everywhere. The breakfast/snack/coffee/tea amenities were awesome and thoughtful. The hosts were quick to respond to questions, and all around helpful.

  • This apartment was a dream! It was so cozy and stylish, and just a short walk from downtown. I felt immediately at home. Kelly was incredibly welcoming. I would definitely stay here again!

  • The Sweet Dreams suite was truly a delight to stay in! Thea is the most accommodating host and left lovely homey touches everywhere including chocolate, coffee and tea, as well as bath salts for the lovely bathtub. The bed is like sleeping in a cloud with the softest sheets and blankets! She even left recommendations for food spots to eat at in Asheville. She was quick to respond, very laid back and welcoming. I would gladly stay here again and highly recommend it to others!

A clean, tasteful, stylishly rustic, 1927 soulful studio apartment, less than 1 mile to downtown & UNCA, steps from Homegrown, Luella's BBQ, Asheville Pizza and Brewing Company, shared garden/yard w/firepit, hardwood and ceramic tile floors, original ceramic tub, King bed + day bed, fridge, sink, coffee. We now offer cable TV on a 30" flat screen, wall-mounted TV, with over 300 channels, including HBO and Cinemax.
This quaint, stylishly rustic apartment, in a 1927 stucco house, has lots of character, (like an original built-in ironing board and original ceramic tub!) plus everything you need for your relaxing Asheville retreat. (Tub also has a shower.) Less than a mile to downtown (GPS map says .8 , 3 minute drive and 20 minute walk to the outskirts.) Hardwood floors, plenty of natural light and closet space, really comfortable King bed and day bed for extra guest who is not very tall, lots of pillows, lamps, desk/chest, heater, sweet eat-in kitchen with fridge, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, George Foreman grill, dishes, pots and pans, cotton linens and towels, natural light from windows, lovely walk to downtown and UNCA, (especially in nice weather for hearty walkers yet some guests find it too far to walk), steps from Asheville Biscuitry, Moe's, Homegrown, Sushi, The Hop ice cream, UNCA trails, Luella's Bar-B-Que, Musician's Workshop, Greenlife Grocery, Trader Joes, Asheville Pizza and Brewing Company (they have great recent $3.00 movies too!) etc. Shared back yard garden and fire pit to enjoy, as well as outdoor grill, flower and herb gardens, off-street carport for one car. We have lived in the main part of the house until recently, and have moved around the corner in Montford, so are available if you need anything. Two wonderful permanent resident managers have moved in to the main part of the house, who can also help you if you need anything. This apartment is on the ground floor, steps from back parking lot, with separate entrance and sensor flood lights, and solar lanterns for night time ease. You may hear footsteps from time to time, voices and other domestic sounds, yet we encourage all of our guests and tenants to comply with the expectation of quiet enjoyment of the property. If you wish no sign of others, this is not a good fit, but there is still lots of privacy to enjoy. Best enjoyed by 2 or 3 people looking for a soulful Asheville experience. Parking lot can be tight with large vehicles, yet we have recently expanded it to make it easier, however there may be situations where you need to back down the narrow driveway to turn around in the alley. The expansion of the lot attempts to solve this issue. We appreciate any suggestions.
The neighborhood is fun and close to everything most Asheville visitors seek, has a woodsy feel, yet walking distance to downtown and UNCA, Botanical Gardens, with nice, friendly, relaxed neighbors. Dough, Homegrown, Moe's Burritos, Musicians Workshop, Luella's BBQ, all less than 5 minute walk from apartment. Couple of blocks to beautiful UNCA-owned public wooded trails that lead to Botanical Gardens, UNCA, ropes courses, etc. 10 minute walk to Trader Joe's, Whole Foods and Harris Teeters, 15-20 minute walk to heart of downtown (GPS says walking is about 18 minutes) or 3+ minutes by car, according to (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps. Neighborhood has some historic homes, some newer homes, some townhouses, w/ some families, professionals, artists, and students.
  • Great location. The place is actually bigger than the photos show. It’s quite, and cozy. A couple miles from all the down town breweries. It’s walking distance to a fun little dive bar Frazier’s, and delicious restaurant Homegrown. Overall a great experience, and would definitely stay again.

  • Fabulous place. Just as advertised. Extremely clean, bed very comfortable, bathtub awesome, location great, lots of nice touches such as great coffee and beautiful soaps. Parking a bit tricky with our big car so parked on street which was fine. Upstairs sounds such as morning coffee grinding woke us up but went back to sleep. 5 stars!

    Rachael2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful night stay here with our pups. The location was wonderful, so close to everything yet in such a quiet neighborhood. The host were so welcoming and made our travel to Asheville so easy! Thank you again, we’ll be coming back for sure! ❤️

Modern ground level apartment with South Asian flare, set in a storybook Tudor in Downtown / 5 Points. Short (0.9 mile) walk to the center of downtown, Trader Joe's (0.4 miles), Whole Foods Market (0.3 miles), High Five Coffee (0.3 miles) and Little Jumbo (0.2 miles), the best little cocktail bar in town. Great for couples, friends, business travelers, and families. NOT handicap accessible & although we have soundproofed ceilings, there is some footfall noise from above.
Newly constructed ground level apartment in brand new storybook Tudor just blocks from downtown Asheville. Your home away from home will be the entire ground floor apartment complete with private entrance, kitchenette, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. We do live upstairs on the first and second floor, and while the ceiling above you is soundproofed we find there is still some footstep noise at times, so if you wake from any little sound this place may not be ideal. One bedroom has a king and the other a queen. The kitchen has Brazilian Maple butcher block counter tops, a 2 burner hotplate (NO OVEN), full fridge and freezer, full double sink, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, coffee press, tea, coffee, sugar, milk, cereal, dishes, utensils, and pots. Everything you need to make a small breakfast or keep and reheat your leftovers as a midnight snack. The space is decorated with art and accent pieces we have brought back from our travels in South Asia.
Location, location, location! 4 or less blocks from Green Life (Whole Foods), Trader Joe's, a 24 hour grocery store, the Moog factory and, of course, downtown Asheville. The 5 points area of Montford is possibly the most convenient neighborhood to everything. Habitat Brewing, Asheville's newest brewery, is just down the street.
  • Really nice stay, and very kind hosts.

Historic neighborhood--walking distance to downtown, and Trader Joe’s! Come enjoy our beautiful apartment and see what great things Asheville has to offer.
Our place is bright, cheery and filled with charm! It’s the perfect launch pad for your Asheville adventures. Restaurants, bars, theaters, galleries, outdoor concerts and so much more are all within walking distance. You can't beat this spot! We are located on a quiet street in historic neighborhood, just 10 minutes walking distance to downtown. There’s also a greenway at the end of our street. We are also only a few blocks from Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and Harris Teeter. This is a fantastic, historic neighborhood adjacent to downtown. It is also the safest neighborhood that is next to downtown. Stroll past historic B&B's, down tree-lined streets, as you make your way home after a delicious meal at one of Asheville's many great restaurants. It would be hard to find a more convenient location than this! Our apartment is recently renovated and tastefully furnished. Old world charm meets modern lofty feel is one of the descriptions I have heard before. Mid century modern meets global traveler. Stunning, original heart pine floors, stainless appliances, an open floor plan and beautiful garden are just a few things that will make your stay here enjoyable. Relax on one of the private porches or have dinner on the patio surrounded by a beautiful garden. This is part of our private residence. The apt takes up the entire bottom floor of this historic house so there is plenty of room to feel comfortable and relax. We live in the upstairs flat so we are around if you need anything, but have complete respect for our guests privacy. ** We have a little one too so you may hear little feet above you from time to time but this is only is the common areas. Your bedroom is quiet, as directly above is an unused room. Exact walking times: 10 min to lower Lexington Ave and 15 min walking to the middle of downtown. Lexington Ave is the best street for finding funky, uniquely Asheville shops and restaurants. This is the street that started it all......and then the rest of downtown slowly followed. And, downtown is just a $5-6 Uber away! We are located on the opposite side of the south slope in a nice safe neighborhood. Many people want to be close to the breweries (south slope area of downtown)however the neighborhood closest to the breweries is not the safest. I would not recommend staying on the other side of downtown. Here are a few of the amenities to make your stay comfy and enjoyable: Dedicated yoga area/room Flat Screen TV Wireless internet Smart TV Washer Dryer Gas BBQ Multiple Private porches Patio w/private backyard Luxury Queen bed w/ quality linens Fully stocked kitchen Microwave Local coffee and creamer shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hair dryer Downtown hotels are $200-300/night plus tax, making our place a real gem!
  • Heidi's place was great! Very clean, great location, good communication.

    Lindsay2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi was exceptional. Extremely communicative, understanding, and the space is a perfect location to enjoy Downtown Asheville. We had to cut our trip short due to unforeseen circumstances and Heidi went above and beyond. Would 10/10 recommend this spot.

  • Great location, easy check in and such a clean place!

    Grace2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect 1br/2ba in Montford. 6 minute walk to Nine Mile for great food and drinks, 10 minute walk to Thomas Wolfe, 15 to many breweries and other music venues. The space was clean and quite spacious on a nice quiet neighborhood street with off street parking. Heidi was quick to respond and was very helpful. Would not pass this location up on my next trip to Asheville.

    Matthew2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place, would stay again and recommend to anyone. The location is within walking distance to a lot of stores, coffee shops, breweries, ect. We loved hanging out on the balconies of the house, very relaxing.

    Brandon2019-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • a wonderful place to stay while in Asheville. Cute and cozy and close to everything. I'd love to stay here again when in Asheville!

    Amy2019-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Heid's home is a very charming and roomy apartment very close to downtown. We appreciated staying in a place that felt like you are at home, in a cute area, with everything you'd need close by. It was extremely clean, and very comfortable bed and pillows. 3 different porches to sit outside. Loved all the unique decor--it really gave a feeling of comfort. One comment, though not a negative, we normally travel in our larger full size truck. I do not think we would have been able to park in the designated spot. That being said, we were in an SUV, and were able to fit just fine, but larger vehicles may have a problem.

    Barbara2019-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • My daughter and I enjoyed three nights at Heidi’s place as a base for exploring Asheville. We loved the apartment, the eclectic decor, and all the amenities. We enjoyed drinking wine on the porch as the sun went down. Such a charming and cozy spot!

Clean, adorable space w/ small deck overlooking garden & fire pit, hardwood floors, WIFI, cable, original 1947 ceramic tub, tasteful art, Queen captain's bed with spacious drawers, Queen fold-out sofa, eat-in kitchenette w/ fridge, sink, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, etc. Walk downtown, around corner from pizza, breweries, Luella's BBQ, Homegrown, close to everything & UNCA trails, stylishly rustic, vintage feel, charm & character! CableTV now, with over 300 channels! Steep external stairs.
This is a soulful, clean antique apartment with a lots of character; original hardwood and ceramic tile floors, hall between breakfast nook, hall with bookshelves, bedroom with 2 closets and captain's bed with drawers for clothes, small deck overlooking garden and shared fire pit, second floor apartment, up external stairs (steep), walk to downtown if you feel like a workout, or UNCA, (if you don't mind a nice, but hilly mile walk), around the corner from Asheville Biscuitry, Homegrown Restaurant, Moe's Burrito, Homegrown, Musician's Workshop, Luella's Bar-b-que, trails to UNCA and Botanical Gardens, wooded feel with fire pit and grill that you are welcome to use responsibly. 1 mile, nice walk (too far for some, yet great for others) to outskirts of downtown. The apartment is located in a house, with a separate entrance at the deck behind the house. There is another guest space on the first floor. You may hear our resident managers who now live in the main part of the house, or others from time to time, but we do our best to be quiet and sensitive to our guests. Key will be hidden in a predesignated place for you upon arrival. We are pleased to now offer cable TV, including HBO and Cinemax, with over 300 channels on a large flat screen TV in the living room. Parking for 1 vehicle behind house via a small alley and driveway. We have recently expanded our driveway to make parking and exiting easier for our guests, however, the driveway is narrow, and it is important to leave space for two other vehicles when you park.
The neighborhood is friendly, mellow, safe, typical Asheville neighborhood with some families, some students and professionals. Some historic homes, (like this one,) some newer, close to townhouses. Very cool vibe. Neighbors up the hill have chickens and ducks (but they are fenced... ; )
  • What an amazing space! Make sure to check out the cool game they have on the bookshelf called ‘Rock me Archimedes’ - it’s super cool. My hosts were prompt and helpful. There’s also a gaming store and a comic shop right up the road. I will stay again.

  • Great place to stay while in Asheville! Danielle's apartment was clean and had everything I needed including coffee and tea. I appreciated the style and the attention to detail. Easy walk to downtown for anyone who is capable. Nothing negative to cite only positive feedback! I would gladly stay here again.

    David2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place was cute, stylish with lots of little touches courtesy of the host! Wine, chocolate covered cherries, fresh flowers all waiting for me when I arrived. Wifi worked great and the bed was comfortable and the kitchen was well-equipped. I felt very safe and at home here. Candles just in case, and a spacious and clean place overall. Parking is convenient and the stairs aren’t THAT steep! April was even able to accommodate my request for a feather-free place (I have an annoying feather allergy) and so I honestly couldn’t have felt more take care of. There are hangers in the closet, there are towels and soap, shampoo & conditioner in the bathroom. Everything was perfect

Bring the past back to life in this recently renovated landmark, historic home. An eco-boutique flare boasts organic amenities, locally roasted coffee, chef-baked gluten-free goods, minimalist interior with vintage charm, original architectural features, wood finishes, stained-glass, and much more. Guests enjoy a fully appointed, private apartment-suite and entrance, quiet retreat-like setting, and inviting common spaces inside and out. This home is appealing for travelers and writers eager to unplug, albeit a short walk to the heart of Asheville. Enjoy a winter retreat in our urban sanctuary.
Perfect for a weekend or several weeks, this peaceful, spacious, light-filled suite is one of two private, fully appointed guest suites in the upstairs of our newly remodeled Historic Montford home, the landmark Keyhole House. The Keyhole House appeals to AirBnB travelers who are eager for a unique, "locals" experience of Asheville, are inclined to linger, perhaps on the porch or in the hammock, or who may come here to write. Enjoy a fully stocked kitchenette (including organic, fair-trade coffee and teas, organic and gluten-free continental breakfast options and snacks), plus washer and dryer, and of course, an array of organic toiletries, as well as organic, fair-trade cotton bed linens and towels. Plus, enjoy private, off-street parking (compact cars preferred due to compact turning area). And new this Summer 2018, enjoy our "fire-garden": a work-in-progress, edible garden with screened fire-pit and relaxing Adirondack chairs––splendid at dusk beneath the open sky where Western vistas come aglow. What you won't find in this suite is a television (although, of course, there is high-speed wireless internet!) because our hope is to provide an experience that invites you to unplug, to take in all that Asheville has to offer, to enjoy the urban forest across the way, to wake to birdsong and the sun rising over the Eastern mountain vista. We hope you feel both a sense of peace and playfulness while you are here, that you want to linger . . . and return. We also offer a hand-picked list of "to-enjoy/to-eat & drink" recommendations, as well as concierge services, such as stocking your kitchen at your request with delicious treats from a handful of local chefs and purveyors of fine food with whom we have established relationships. We love Asheville and our AirBnB guests, and we delight in offering or pointing you to an array of local experiences to enhance your stay. We'll send details when you book! Our values and priorities are based on care: for our community and our planet. We are diversity-inspired hosts and LGBTQ welcoming, and we are committed to providing living wages to every person who services this property and your suite. We make it our priority to be considerate of environmental sensitivities and allergies by using only natural and organic cleaning products, and low VOC paints and materials. Air quality in the apt-suite is maintained by a newly installed ductless heating and a/c unit that cleans the air of allergens. And thanks to Arcadia Power (and a little extra that we pay each month to make it so), our electricity carbon footprint is now 100% offset by wind power! We source locally when possible by developing relationships with our local businesses, and we insist on organic and fair-trade products and recycled paper and plastics. In short, you can rest in our care for you, our community, and our planet. And if you are a history and/or architecture buff, you'll be enchanted by this home, as we are. We like to call The Keyhole House the house of two eras––downstairs is early Arts & Crafts, upstairs is early mid-century. When the original owner lost the house during the Depression, the next owner converted the 2nd floor into apartments. This post-Depression change ushered in new fixtures and flooring upstairs. Since purchasing it in the spring of 2016, we have thoughtfully remodeled the Keyhole House, blending the extraordinary vintage charm of these two eras. This suite is in full compliance with the permitting regulations of the City of Asheville. To this end, though permitting regulations do not permit a full range (with oven), you will find a well-stocked kitchen that will exceed your short-term food preparation needs, should you decide to eat in. Note that if you are particularly tall, say above 6'2", the sloped canopy above the bed may feel a bit tight, along with the sloped ceiling in the bathroom shower.
From this 100-year-old property, reach downtown Asheville via a pleasant stroll through historic Montford. The Asheville Botanical Gardens and the North Asheville Farmers' Market are a short walking distance away, along the Reed Creek Greenway.

A beautiful one-hundred year old Richard Sharp Smith historic home in Montford neighborhood. 3 blocks from the center of town, 5-15 minute walk to everything. Hot tub, high speed wi-fi and cable tv, outdoor spaces for relaxation, gourmet kitchen.
You will be staying in the "Blue Room". This is downstairs next to the "Green Room". Those two rooms share the Mauve bathroom. This home is a quick 5 minute walk from the center of downtown. This historic neighborhood is peaceful, yet only a short walk to all the fun activities downtown.

  • It is very welcoming and a very nice place to stay. I felt right at home here in an old style home. It is in a great location and easy to walk anywhere downtown. I would definitely stay here again if I go back to Asheville.

  • Nice spot convenient to everything in downtown Asheville. Rita and her crew were good hosts. Bed was comfy and room pretty spacious. Mini fridge in the room and coffee with breakfast snacks were all nice additions.

  • We were looking for a place to stay that would be close to all that downtown Asheville has to offer. Rita's place fit the bill and is far less expensive than any hotels we could find. We were able to walk to everything. Rita was a wonderful hostess. I would highly recommend her place!
