  • A few nights in this secluded location with the beautiful view were just what we needed. The place was perfectly clean and the beds and pillows very comfortable — the best sleep we’ve had on our trip so far. Enjoyed kayaking in the sounds very much, and dinners on the balcony. The place would be perfect for two couples; maybe someday we will be able to return with friends.

  • Gorgeous home with a great view. Well located and has many amenities. Kayaks were great. Other reviews mention the steep driveway- true but there is a flat bit to park up on that isn't all the way at the bottom. Lovely stay, thanks!

  • Highly recommend! But unlike the description, it took us more than 25min drive from islander. Nonetheless, place is awesome.

  • On our last day before catching the ferry we were very fortunate to book at John and Maree’s. The amenities were exceptional and location ideal with great eating places nearby.

  • Another great stay at Bethaven, and everything at the same high standard. Hope I can get another chance to come back soon.

    Phil2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Like everywhere else during our stay in New Zealand, we would have loved to have had more time with John and Maree ... firstly, the accommodation has everything you need for a longer stay and secondly, the Marlborough Sounds deserve more than just a day ... The accommodation was clean, very spacious and had good facilities ... Maree was very friendly and gave good tips ...

    Alexander2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • John and Maree's place is awesome. Super clean and the most comfortable beds in the world! Everything is very well organised with notes on how everything works. The location is beautiful and after the viewing point. The only places to eat nearby is either in Havelock or this cool pub but it's best to drive there. Would've loved to stay longer if we had the time.

  • Liz and Tony are excellent hosts. Their place is amazing and the room has a fantastic view. The place was spotless and there were thoughtful touches which made the stay even more memorable

    Lucy2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • What can we say about this fabulous accommodation and location! All the positive comments that have previously been posted are everything that we hoped for! Liz and Tony made us feel relaxed and most welcome and were always available for a chat, either at breakfast or on the decking that has stunning views across the bay. We recommend this accommodation in Picturesque Havelock with quality restaurants!

    David2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay in Liz and Tony’s place. They are very welcoming and hospitable. Their place is sparkling clean and comfortable, they kindly allow us to use their washing machine and the check-in was easy. We loved the beautiful view, talking with them and having a delicious diner at their favorite restaurant, Captains Daughter. Highly recommended.

    Liz2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our one night stay wth Liz and Tony in Havelock. They were outstanding hosts who made us both feel comfortable and extremely welcome. The view was spectacular, the breakfast was delicious and the overall experience was one that we can fully recommend to all.

    Samuel2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Tony & Liz are made up of sugar, spice, and everything nice :-) We had a wonderful time. They are really the loveliest as individuals and as a couple! We were so comfortable and content just hanging out with them and having meals together. Very kind in helping us whenever we needed it and also happily sharing their home. Incredible, incredible people. The home is beautifully decorated (chat with Tony!!), clean, cosy and we had everything (and more) that we needed. We enjoyed lounging in the patio and going for a little kayak adventure. We also liked the quiet town that we could easily walk around rather than drive. All in all, it really won’t feel like you booked an Airbnb as you feel like you’re family/old friends catching up :-)

    Samuel & Michelle2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • This property and these hosts are absolutely outstanding. Liz and Tony could not be more welcoming, and their house overlooking the water of Marlborough Sound is stunning. In our experience, this is unmatched in style, hospitality, views and, important for some like us, the bird activity on the sea and beach below. If the sight of a Pied Stilt or a Royal Spoonbill gets your blood racing, bring your binoculars and prepare to be amazed.

    James2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • What can one expect at Liz and Tony’s place? Only the best of the best in all aspects! Yes, this was my first Airbnb stay, but I’m real sure they and their place will be at the top of my, and others, list for a long time. I like being spoiled! Thanks so much, Rick

    Richard2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a super place to stay. Amazing views from your beautiful appointed room, with everything you need, to sitting on the deck and taking in the breathtaking view. Enjoyed chatting to Liz, the host, and eating our wonderful, delicious breakfasts. Thank you for letting us stay at your gorgeous house. Highly recommend.

With a mooring, boat ramp to launch your boat, a local reserve and surrounding walks, you will fall in love.
The bach is a typical kiwi bach that has been decorated with a vintage theme with modern conveniences. The open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area all look out to scenic views of the bay. New steps and landscaping takes you to the top of the section where even more beautiful scenery awaits. There are many options to sit and take in views from different vantage points on the property. This bach has charm and a homely feel, decorated with love and good taste.
There is a boat ramp, public reserve, walking tracks, beach walks, and a tyre swing at the end of a short walk opposite the beach access walkway on the other side of the road. Havelock is only 10 minutes away and has wonderful restaurants and quaint shops.

  • Good location and great view from the balcony

    Brian2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jane's holiday house. We felt very much at home; everything was clean and comfortable. It was lovely to stay in quiet surroundings near the water, but close enough to Havelock.... to feast on mussels. Glittering Milky Way clearly overhead at night. I would recommend staying at Jane's house to explore this beautiful part of the world.

    Diana2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great - especially if you like trails - the amazing trail that runs from Picton to Havelock is very close and you can get on it and enjoy it for miles and miles. Incredible views. Spectacular trail!! Loved our stay here.

    Ruth2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant place to stay! Lovely neighbours too. Enjoyed the kayaks ☺️

    Eveline2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a gem of a place in a beautiful location and Jane and Wayne couldn't have made it nicer. We were a party of 5 adults and a one year old. The balcony and the stairs posed a problem with the 1 year old as he was small enough to slip through and off both. The balcony issue was fixable and the stairs meant we had to be supervigilant. It is really well equipped and spotlessly clean and the beds were excellent and the location is a dream. We swam at the little beach at Moenui and kayaked from the boat ramp and spent a wonderful time at Pelorus Bridge. We would definitely love to stay there again.

    Deborah2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • This bach is fabulous. It's the perfect size and fit for a getaway. It's cosy and comfortable and provides everything that you could need for a trip away. There are lots of little walks and beaches all around this spot that are enchanting and easy to navigate. Loved our holiday.

    Shelley2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • This place is just so charming! It's all about the fantastic views and the tranquility. And there's so much fun to do as you can borrow kayaks, fishing rods etc.

70 yr old farmhouse, heater, electric blankets, Continental brekkie offered. Stay 2 nites + get cooked brekkie offered. 1 km to Havelock, historical town in centre of 1500 kms of winding coastline, secluded bays and island sanctuaries. Set in one of New Zealand's sunniest spots and in our largest winegrowing region. My home is carved out of working sheep and dairy farms, peace, views, birdsong will relax you. In off season months, book 2 nights, help a little for up to 3 more nights.
What makes my space unique is that there are plenty of farm animals around yet you can glimpse the water which is less than 1.5kms away. Enjoy boat rides thru the Sounds, visit local Wineries, walk the coastal Walking Tracks etc. My cats are very friendly. My six canaries are happy and chirpy, males burst into song daily. I have Lulu, friendly goat to keep the grass down in my paddock, where my brown shaver chooks live, so fresh free range eggs available to buy for breakfast. The house is 70 years young farm house so please do not expect a kitchen floor that you can eat off. I wet mop and disinfect it daily and a new kitchen floor is now down. I often block the day by 3pm so move quickly if you want the best value for your money in Marlborough region.
The main attraction is the peace and tranquility of the farmland, together with the l proximity to the water, walking trails, vineyards and local attractions. I especially recommend the Mail Run (especially on weekdays) Kaituna Stream running behind the property for a quick dip, but you are less than a km from Mahua Sound
  • Lesley is a gracious and accommodating host. Peaceful and private accommodation a short drive to town.

    Alan2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley is the most authentic Lady in New Zealand. We enjoyed our stay there. Very good cooked breakfast and very interesting conversation. Those are the things that you will remember in the future... Fantastic communication before, during and after! Good sleep, perhaphs thanks to the relaxing sound speaker. We were in the studio and we didn’t have any problem going to the bathroom in the main house, even if it was raining the whole night, but read the description and, if you prefer, book the room inside the house. Recommended, we would come back again!

    John2019-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley provided us a hot cooked breakfast and provided a warm room with heated blankets. Lesley was thoughtful and had lined trash cans (rubbish bins) throughout the house. We also got to work for accommodation the third night, which was great for our budget. Good for a short stay.

Hi, welcome to our place. We are up the Wakamarina Valley. Our block is just over 3 acres. We are on an elevated site, which gives us beautiful views of the valleys ranges. The accommodation is self contained with all of the creature comforts. If your here for a day or longer, there are some private and quiet nooks, to relax and unwind with a book or a cold bevvy.
If you like going for a wander, running down the middle of the valley is the mighty Wakamarina Valley river, 5 minutes from your door in either direction are beautiful , clear and clean swimming holes. at the Valleys end, are the Wakamarinas reknowned walking and mountain bike tracks.
  • A beautiful, private and comfortable stay.

  • Book this place!!! Situated off the beaten track this place is gorgeous and so relaxing. Kelly showed us some great spots to hike and to swim in the river, we came home to fresh chicken eggs and plums , it was fab - we could ha e stayed a week. Also very close to Havelock for mussels, Queen Charlotte drive for great hiking and within easy reach of Picton. We loved it

    Caroline2020-02-22T00:00:00Z

All we can say is the pictures don’t do the place justice at all. Absolutely loved our stay. Thank you Kelly and partner 🙂

In a magical setting & fully furnished the studio cabin has full bathroom, queen bed & its own private deck, privacy & outstanding views over the Mahau Sound. Swim across the road, walk the beach or the forestry track. Listen to the birdsong and explore. Walk through the bush at night to see the glowworms. Most people wish they had booked 2 or more!
On the covered deck is a Webber BBQ on which you can BBQ, bake, roast or boil a pot. Inside the bench area has all the crockery, cutlery etc needed including a pot and frypan as well as electric frypan, toaster and jug. A microwave can boil or cook food. Instructions are in the cabin. We live on 3/4 acre of grounds with lawns, orchard and vegetable gardens overlooking Mahau Sound. There is beach launching for boats across the road and all tide swimming along the beach. We have our own walk through Native forest to our water tank or to see the glowworms at night. There are lots of walks within easy access notably the Queen Charlotte walkway. Enjoy the tranquility, watch the birds and enjoy the always changing views.
The Marlborough Sounds are one of the jewels in New Zealands many amazing landscapes. One fifth or the New Zealands coastline is in the Sounds. You could spend much time here and only see a fraction of it. There are so many lovely beaches & hills to explore and from Havelock you can do various tours, fishing trips or see the Sounds on the local mail boat. There are many walkways and mountain bike tracks in the area. Or you may like to do day trips to visit local wineries, to see the Omaka aircraft museum or visit resorts or swim in the Pelorus Bridge river area.
  • Comfortable cabin with lovely views

    Philip And Clare2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in this gorgeous location with its panoramic views of Mahau Sound. Perfect for accessing the many wonderful walks in the area. The cabin is very well-equipped with cooking on the under-cover bbq, microwave and electric frypan making self-catering easy. Marg and Russell are great hosts and very knowledgeable about the area. We loved our stay.

    Kirsty2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location if arriving at/leaving from Picton and keen to be a bit removed from everyone else! We loved it.

  • Russell and Margaret’s place has everything you need, in a beautiful setting. We enjoyed our stay so much, especially the comfortable bed and glorious views

    Juliet2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Margaret and Russel, what a lovely couple of genuine, kind and hospitable people. We are delighted to have met them. The accommodation is in a very scenic setting, we woke up to the most amazing, tranquil and beautiful view. A morning stroll along the beach below provided further photo opportunities and a chance to recharge after the previous day's long drive. The cottage was well equipped and very clean. Highly recommend this place!

    Anna2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Margaret and Russell’s place is just delightful - I could not fault the cabin - immaculate with a beautiful view and everything you need including a very comfy bed. Great communication and access. I hope to return one day with my husband to explore the beautiful sounds with a bit more time. Thank you so much and all the best - I shall be recommending to everyone I can.

    Elisabeth2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • A bit of a jog to get here but we’ll worth the effort. You just don’t have access to views and places in settings as beautiful as this very often. Thankful they offered their place for us.

    Tim2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We were blown away by this idyllic spot in the Sounds, it really is the perfect place to stay to unwind, relax and soak in nature!! Russell and Margaret are so welcoming and we felt it was our home away from home

  • Renates place was so tranquil and peaceful. Amazing location and great to take advantage of the link walk on my visit.

    Bryony2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Renate's place offered everything we were after: a beautiful and quiet location off the beaten track yet easily accessible, birdsong, lots of visual stimulation from the eccentric bits of artwork that you encounter as your wander around the cottage, lots of useful travel suggestions from Renate, and on top of everything else -- Coco the wonder dog to lift the spirits! Highly recommended.

  • Lovely place and surroundings.

    Ute Petra2020-02-29T00:00:00Z

  • Great stay in Picton, lovely views from the lounge and bedrooms! Unfortunately there was a power cut during our stay (nobodies fault, it was just in the general area), but Stu still quickly offered to come and help fix the problem. We had a great trip! Thanks!

The Queen Charlotte Tavern is located in central Linkwater close to the beautiful and iconic Marlborough Sounds. A welcome resting place for the Te Araroa Trail walkers and the nearby Queen Charlotte Track. This delightful cabin is completely run off solar power, very private and cosy.
The bathroom facilities are shared. The tavern offer excellent coffee and all meals and entertainment with a large outdoor area.
The nearby old Cullensville gold-mining town is well worth an explore and visit to see the old shafts and locale.
  • Lovely cabin. I would stay again.

    William2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place rocks, excellent value for money, and the establishment is very clean and well cared for. The restaurant and tavern is brimming with character and despite having older fittings, everything was dry, clean and pleasant smelling. You absolutely have to have the food here, it's well priced and professionally prepared and presented with the highest quality ingredients. I had never seen such orange yolks as I did in the eggs Benedict I had there. I had a simple Bangers n mash for dinner and I thought I'd gone to heaven. I think everyone has a visualisation of how a favourite dish tastes, these guys will take your dream dish and better it, hands down! Lastly a lovely touch in the dining rooms was fresh roses picked from the garden, they were so highly scented it was just a pleasure to sit there and enjoy this unexpected sensory addition. Oh before forget, Maryann and staff were all very congenial, prompt and thoughtful. I would love to book here again. Thanks again for the lovely stay!

  • Perfect little stop for a nights stay, has a shower, warm sheets and everything you will need. There’s a lovely tavern and little cafe which is perfect for morning or nightly refueling.

    Jax2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a small cosy hut that just fits 2. The amenities are all in the pub. The pub is old farm that some time in the past has been converted to a pub. If you like McDonalds, sterile clean motel rooms, and sky TV in your bed room you are out of luck. However if you like people, great location laughter and a great spot to explore the sounds, you will love it.

    Rom2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • It's a funky little wooden lodge with a nice pub to chill in during the evening. Cosy sheets and a key to lock the door, but be warned it is pretty basic. The only downsides about the hut are that it only has 2 usb slots on the wall for power (no plug socket) and the WiFi doesn't quite work from that distance. You also don't have use of a kitchen so it's really more of a 1 night stay thing..

    Makoto2020-02-06T00:00:00Z

The cabin has a queen bed so only suited to 1 or 2 people. Located in a block away from the cabin (not far away, just around the corner ) there is 2 toilets and 1 hot shower to be shared with other people who are located on site. Wifi- we do have wifi, but as anyone would know being rural, it is not a strong connection. Please do not expect ultra high speed, as even we don’t have that. This cabin is not a five star hotel, it is aimed as many have said to be “glamping”. Giving the taste of nz.
The place you will be staying at was the old Koromiko school which we have lived here for 2 yrs in the school building and love it. The country side feeling is great with towns not to far away. Beautiful trees and hills around us to enjoy
We have a nice wee group of neighbours who are there if we need them . Some cows around and horses. We have chickens that wonder around also. We also have dogs, as well as rabbits but they don’t effect the cabin. Nice wee country living
  • The shed is basic which is all I needed for my short stay. The bed was very comfortable and the heater worked great.

  • Very warm welcome, Barb has a really nice home in a beautiful setting. We could use the double kayak which was quite nice. She has a cute little dog which likes to be petted. By the way: as already stated in other reviews the breakfast with cereals and homemade bread was delicious.

    Philipp2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay with Barbara and an unforgettable evening on the terrace with a wonderful view, a glass of wine and the best music ever. Slept well, great bed linen, own bathroom, great kitchen, where we were allowed to cook something. Washing clothes was allowed. Great tips, if you like kayaking, you can do that with Barbara. A great garden surrounds the house. Cultivated things are growing on almost every corner. Best place to explore Nelson and Malborough Sound. Thanks to Babs, that was great for you.

    Berina2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Barbara’s place. The view was amazing and the hospitality even better. We enjoyed a home cooked meal with Barbara, which was delicious. I would highly recommend for a relaxing spot to stay in a beautiful location.

    Abby2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is what AirBnB is all about: fantastic host, great setting, feels like a home away from home. Barb is very welcoming, and clearly a fantastic cook (homemade bread was to die for). Lovely peaceful location only a 5-10 min drive from Havelock. Views are outstanding and we kayaked in the Sounds, accessed just at the bottom of the garden. Would highly recommend to anyone.

    Euan2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Where do I start! No amount of words can justify the hospitality that we received from Barb. I would not rate this as an Air BnB experience but this was like staying at a family’s house. Barb is kind , polite and selfless. We stayed at her place for 2 nights and had dinner at her place on both the days, and OMG she cooked scrumptious dinner with almost all ingredients home grown. The dinner table conversation followed by listening to Frank Sinatra and sitting at her patio overlooking the sea was beautiful and can never be forgotten. She was kind enough to even give us her kayak. Her kitchen can be aptly described as a Michelin start kitchen. This has been one of the most memorable experience for my husband and me and can never be forgotten. One should must visit and stay at Barb place in case visiting this side of NZ. My husband and I would personally like to thank Barb again for hosting us.

    Riddhi2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Barb is a wonderful AirBnB host. Her warm, naturally easy-going and welcoming manner made us feel right at home from the start. We enjoyed the comings and goings of other guests, and the communal atmosphere that resulted. Barb's homemade bread is legendary and completely addictive. Michael enjoyed cooking with Barb in the kitchen, and exchanging tips. (There is space and scope for a more private retreat if this is preferred by Barb's guests.)

It is within walking distance to the town center (15 minutes). The room and bathroom are absolutely clean and the small kitchen area contains all the basics you need for a quick breakfast. The room was really warm when we arrived as it is in full sun, but we got it cooled down with the fan provided. Would definitely come again for one night in Picton!

Private. Clean and Tidy. Warm and Cosy. Lovely private room with your own entrance and bathroom. Breakfast included.
You enter the room via 10 external steps which are also shared with myself and my husband (We live upstairs). You then enter your room through your own door - You can see this in the last photo. There are no internal stairs so your room is completely private with it's own bathroom and kitchenette. The room is cosy, private, and warm with extra blankets and heaters. While it is a small space, it is perfect for 1 or 2 people with more than enough room. A short walk will have you in the heart of Picton. We are a busy couple working full time but more than happy to answer any questions, we also respect if you are private.

  • We've stayed at Courtney's place for one night and really enjoyed our stay. Everything was exactly as described - the place is beautifully decorated, clean and the bed is comfortable like no other! Self check-in and self check-out were without any issue, communication with Courtney was great and the detailed instructions covered all questions that we had. The location is quite good, only 15 minutes by foot from centre of Picton where all shops and restaurants are located. Overall, we can only recommend the place and if we're ever back in Picton, we will gladly book again!

Kingfisher Cabin is a private, tiny house in a peaceful, rural area, with stunning views over the Mahakipawa Arm of Pelorus Sound. It is perfect for tourists wanting to access Queen Charlotte Sound, mountain bikers, bird watchers, or people wanting a weekend away from it all. Check out our Instagram account for more images https://www.instagram.com/whare.kotare/
The Cabin has everything you need, whether you are staying for a couple of nights or a month. Small, cosy and warm, the house opens onto a covered deck, providing plenty of room to enjoy the view.
The Cabin is accessed by a shared driveway, with 4 other houses on it, but all at least 50m away. The Linkwater/Mahakipawa area is a mixture of dairy farms, baches, lifestyle blocks, retirees and the people who keep the community going.
  • A wonderful cosy cabin, set on a hillside above a side arm of the Marlborough Sounds. A stylish space with some excellent creative touches to its construction. A great base for day walking the Queen Charlotte track or exploring the Sound by boat or kayak. Very clean and well equipped, with a warm welcome from Clare.

    Bruce2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Clare’s place is just beautiful, amazing location and lovely property, with so much to do near by. Thanks for a great stay.

    Hannah2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Idyllic tiny house with stunning views. Clare is an excellent host and very responsive with communication. We booked last minute but everything was ready and clean and tidy. Easy to find and well signed from the road. Rough track from the road but not a problem. Parking right outside and only short distance to the tiny house. Views from the deck are stunning, with a sofa to relax and take it all in. The tiny house is perfect; plenty of space actually, with an excellent fully equipped kitchen. Very comfortable bedroom with en-suite. Lovely to lie in bed in the morning and look out over the sounds. The Queen Elizabeth Inn is walking distance (1km), just take a torch if getting ark and take care on the road until the footpath starts. Very friendly, and seems very popular with the locals. Not. A huge menu choice but really good food. Also opens at 1000 for coffee!

    Mike2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect place for a break from the busy. It's inspiring to see what Clare has done to make a small space so liveable and comfortable, we never felt crowded - it's a case of everything you need and nothing you don't! We walked, drove to keneperu sound, did a couple of wineries in Blenheim, all easy enough to do from the cabin. And the best day was when we did nothing except the puzzle and read our books! Thanks so much for having us Clare, like I said, this place is perfect :)

    May2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay. Beautiful location!

    Clare2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Superb address that we recommend with beautiful view, tranquility and comfort Congratulations on the decor. Pleasant attentions from our host. From this lodge we had access to all the nearby activities that we wanted to do (kayaking, mountain bikes, hiking) ideally located between Charlotte Sounds and Pelorus Sounds. thank you for everything

    ISABELLE2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place in an amazing location. The views are much better than the description photos imo. The house itself has everything you’ll need for a comfortable stay, in fact it felt almost like home. Clare also provided our 14 months old son a box of toys which was very nice.

    Wendy2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely house with great views: although not large it’s been very thoughtfully designed and has everything one could possibly need. We did great walks from Anawika (Queen Charlotte Sound) and Pelorus Bridge, both through beautiful indigenous forest.

  • The hosts are wonderful and kind. Very warm people. The space is nice and clean. If you don’t want to hear about how good Trump is, stay somewhere else, because that becomes part of the conversation.

    Carl2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Ligita and Bob were some of the warmest, most welcoming hosts we’ve experienced on Air BnB. After a harrowing drive from Picton, they were there to shield us with umbrellas as we got out of our car then take us to our spacious, well-appointed digs. It would be impossible for any accommodation to be cleaner or to be better equipped. To top it off, Bob drove us into town and gave us a quick tour before dropping us off for dinner. What a comforting touch! We would be delighted to stay with Ligita and Bob again any time.

Our guests have private access to there own detached unit, and full use of your own large separate kitchen facilities. Our beautiful property is surrounded by a mixture of mature native and exotic trees which is prolific with native bird life, while being perfectly situated on the banks of the Pelorus river .
The river is a stones throw from your doorstep with swimming a must do activity in summer . Your bathroom is located 20 meters from your room and is attached to the main house, with your own private entrance .
We are 1.5km from the Pelorus Scenic Reserve with walkways in the beautiful native bush, both Rai valley township and Havelock are a short drive away and both have Pubs/cafes with Havelock having a small supermarket
  • The property totally exceeded our expectations. The room is very nicely and attractively furnished. Right next door is a well-equipped kitchen that can be used alone. The bathroom is in the house of Barbara and Jason. Since they have another one themselves, we also had the bathroom to ourselves. The beautiful and spacious garden can be shared. Right on the property is a river in which you can bathe and use kayak if there is enough water. Barbara has many tips on where to find beautiful tracks in the area. We would have loved to have stayed more than one night and can only recommend the property.

Laura’s recommendation of the local cycle wine tour was perfect and she was a thoughtful and generous host. We would thoroughly recommend the property and hope to be back one day to stay longer. Thank you Laura!

  • Beautiful modern holiday home with a super view of the Sounds. Great amenities and location between Picton and Havelock. One of the nicest Airbnb’s we’ve stayed in.

  • Nothing like the luxury of waking up to the most magnificent views of the Marlborough Sounds. The place is very clean and tidy. The only downfall is the hot water system is placed in one of the bedrooms therefore it would wake us up whenever someone turned on the tap.

  • A lovely modern house located in beautiful part of the Marlborough Sounds. Quiet place with lots of space. Well kitted our with all you will need. The deck is absolutely amazing. Clean and pleasant and so easy to deal with getting in and settled

  • Fantastic views. And free use of the Kayaks. The house is very new and as comfortable as any Airbnb I’ve stayed at. That bed was so comfy! Drinks on the deck and star watching can’t be beat. What a great place!

    Andrew2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful view and access to the water via waterside trail.

    Pete2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic house from which to explore the Sounds. Only 6 months old, so very well presented. Modern and stylish. Use of kayaks is a bonus. Would definitely recommend.

  • Jo’s Ranui Rest in Waikawa was the perfect place to stay near Picton during our travels through New Zealand. The spacious accommodation was surrounded by lush gardens and waking up to the songs of birds was delightful. We had a most comfortable sleep, and wish that we could have stayed longer.

  • Very nice and comfortable place near to Picton. Unfortunately we stayed only one night there during our road trip ; next time we will stay longer !

    Martin2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is an exceptionally good place, exactly as described in a lovely part of South Island. Jo and Bruce were friendly and welcoming..The place is nicely laid out and spotlessly clean . It is 30 minutes walk or 5 minute drive to Picton but it is in a quiet Road surrounded by hills. We particularly enjoyed sitting on the deck in the sunshine,

  • Nice place, cozy and clean. Also great communication with host and easy checkin / out. Thanks Wilfried

  • Spacious, peaceful, comfortable, well equipped self contained space. Everything is clean and fresh and was bigger than I'd expected from the photos. A very nice place to spend some time exploring Picton and the Sounds. There was a bit of noise from the main house but nothing too intrusive.

  • Jo's apartment at Renaui Rest is large, spacious, spotless, beautifully decorated and in the most serene setting. Jo has a green thumb, creating a beautiful garden right outside your door.

  • Jane's house is fab-u-lous! The room is huge and looks out to the water. Fantastic location. Breakfast was 5* Jane was the perfect host. Thank you.

  • A great experience staying at Janes place, a beautiful character villa and so handy to the village.

    John2019-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Janes home is large and full of character. Large comfortable room with a good bathroom. But it is the warmth and hospitality, with a lovely breakfast looking out over the sound that makes this stay worth visiting Havelock.

    Susan2019-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Jane’s beautiful historic home with our toddler. Jane was a great host - thoughtful and friendly and we were spoilt with delicious breakfast. Very highly recommended.

Beautiful one bedroom cabin right by the ocean. Includes a kitchen with all the essentials and the bedroom opens onto a stunning view of the beach. Shower and toilet are not in the cabin they are located across the yard and solely for use of quests. The cabin is on the same property as my home but is very private considering.
The Bay is called Ngakuta Bay. Across the lawn there is the beach and a walkway that leads to the various areas,ie wharf and walking tracks. There are two walking tracks one to Picton and one to Momorangi Bay and a bit futher, it has a forest information area which visitors found very informative In the summer big sting rays visit the bay they are entirely harmless and majestic to watch. In the winter there are occasional visits by dolphins and seals.
Scenic rural area. Link pathway on doorstep and close to Queen Charlotte Track. Excellent swimming, fishing and boating facilities
  • Wonderful little place in a beautiful part of the bays. Pam is a wonderful host, excellent communication and made us feel right at home. Loved taking the kayak out on the water. Thanks again!

    Chrissy2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Very good value, great spot, has everything you need and Pamela goes out of her way to make sure you have a great stay. Lovely verandah to look out at the bay

    Lee2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location and Pam waw a lovely host.

    Hannah2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Pamela's. It was quiet and private and had everything we needed. Pamela was very welcoming and gave us great tips to find glow worms and see the phosphorescence in the water. There is a great track for walking or biking to Picton. Ngakuta Bay is beautiful and quiet. Highly recommend staying here!

    Anna2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Pamela's place serves as a great home base for exploring the area--not only Ngakuta Bay, but also the neighboring bays on the sound as well via the Link Pathway. I primarily wanted to do some hiking and birdwatching, but Pamela also offers the use of her kayak, from which one can view the sting rays that inhabit the bay. I would recommend this bach to anyone with similar aims. One caveat, which I think Pamela makes clear but is worth emphasizing: there are no amenities in Ngakuta Bay. The closest cafe is the camp cafe at Momorangi Bay.

    Corinne2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Pamela is a really nice host and the cabin is a really good place for a few days. It's located close to the sea so when you're enjoying your meal at the little terrace you've got an awesome view. Toilet and shower are not in the cabin but about 10m across the yard. The kitchen is quite good equipped. Check in was really easy. Pamela is a welcoming, friendly and lovely person with a lot of advices for activities in the surrounding area.

    Clarissa2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • We a great stay at Pam’s bach. The location and being able to step out the front door straight onto Ngakuta Bay was a highlight. The kitchen has everything you need to cook a meal. We didn’t mind the shared toilet / shower as it was separate to Pam’s house so there was still privacy. Pam was very accomodating when our ferry was delayed and we arrived late at 10.30pm. Would definitely stay again!

    Rachael2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cottage in a beautiful location. Very private and has all the things you need for your stay. Very comfortable bedroom with stunning views, a lovely area outside to sit and soak up the sun. The kitchen has everything you need with ideal seating area. There is also another outdoor area before you go in the front door. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and strongly recommend to future Airbnb travelers.
