Blackstones Lodge is a self-catering house built on the banks of the Caragh River. There are three bedrooms, two of which are ensuite, and can accommodate a party of six people. The kitchen is fully equipped with all modern conveniences and the living room has an open fire and television. Blackstones Lodge has breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside, Caragh River, Blackstones Falls and the McGillycuddy Reeks.
  • We loved our stay at Breda's house. Just what we wanted: no frills, out of reception (most of the time), and beautiful surroundings. The river was raging - our kids are 5 and 6, but were fine with firm instructions not to go to the river bank (there is plenty of other outdoor space to run about in). It was a good location for exploring Ring of Kerry and Dingle (1-2 hour car journeys to various brilliant spots, and we even climbed up the Devil's ladder (eek!). Hope to be back sometime in the near future.

  • Very nice place to stay, wonderfull scenery and place to walk, fish and much more. Breda is a very nice lady who welcomed us with open arms.

Our cottage is the original dwelling, dating from many years before the 20th Century, next to our house that was built in the 1920s as the then local shop. We have completely refurbished it so that it now offers comfortable accommodation for a couple or two people. It has a sleeping loft plus spare sofa bed, kitchenette, shower room and open plan eating and sitting area. It is set in the most beautiful world famous Kerry countryside, with the MacGillycuddy mountains sweeping down to the site.
The cottage is a comfy place with a wood burning stove, space to relax, perhaps after a day in the hills or on the road. There is no Wi-Fi as the mountains interfere with the signal so you might take this opportunity to escape the demands of modern life whilst at the same time having some of the comforts. Although we will provide the basic essentials (tea, coffee etc.) you will probably need to arrive with sufficient food for a day or depending on what your plans might be. There is a book of words in the cottage to help you find your way around it and also the surrounding district.
The cottage is in a rural area, with the nearest shop (basic essentials) and pub (serves some food) about a mile and a half away- The Climbers Inn in Glencar. There is an abundance of mountain activities available locally, walking the Kerry Way and other even less frequented ridges; you can even walk up to Caher and on to the heights of Carantouhil, Ireland's highest mountain, from the cottage without crossing a road; quiet roads for cycling; the Caragh river for fishing (permit required and sold in Killorglin 30 mins drive away); and even a swimming hole for those hot summer days, or even the colder ones! You can canoe or kayak on the river- and the Cappanalea Outdoor pursuits Centre is less than 20 mins drive if you want to have instruction in more strenuous activities. Two cul de sac valleys go off to the left and right - one towards the Black Valley and the other towards Cloon Lake. Both are absolutely beautiful for a cycle ride or easy stroll. Further afield over the Ballaghbeama pass is the village of Sneem on the Ring of Kerry, and the other direction over the Ballaghishin pass is the route to Waterville, Ballinskelligs (where you can get a boat out to the Skellig Rocks), Caherciveen and Valencia Island (Tetrapod steps in the rocks). Glenbeigh and the stunning beach at Rossbeigh is a half hour's drive along the banks of Caragh Lake. All these are wonderful sights to see on your visit to the Iveragh Peninsula.
  • We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful little cottage in the middle of nowhere. We felt very comfortable there, especially in the evening in front of the burning stove. County Kerry in Ireland is a great place to explore real Irish nature and beauty. If you arrive in winter you should not forget your warm socks as the cottage can be a little chilly if you are away for the whole day. And remember: you travel to windy Ireland so the wind can be quite noisy sometimes. All together we can really recommend this beautiful cottage! Thank you Angela and Jim!

  • Super nice cottage in the midst of Irish mountains and pastures. Very comfortable bed and a cute wood stove. Only the extra to pay the firewood is we found a pity. Without a stove, it is bitterly cold.

  • This is a wonderful location for mountains and coast and the cottage was delightful.

  • The cottage is perfect for a little trip into the Irish nature ! The surroundings are very beautiful, and it's very close to the Killarney national Park. The place is very well equipped with anything you need (washing machine, kitchen utensils, books...), and Angela and her husband are very friendly ! I do recommend this place !

  • Doreen and Tom are great hosts. We enjoyed our stay at their bed and breakfast. What a great place to relax and recharge!

  • Doreen and Tom we're the most friendly and welcoming hosts. You'll never find a better view in Ireland than from their front door. The room was perfect and Doreen's fresh made scones we're wonderful. Their hospitality was unmatched and they catered to our every need. We couldn't have asked for a better place to call home for a couple days while hiking in the MacGillicuddy's (Carrauntoohil).

  • The hosts are amaizing and very accommodating. They run a BnB situated in a beautiful, mountainous setting. The rooms are extremely good value, and clean. The breakfast the next morning was top notch. This was an asbolute gem of a place to stay. I would put this place in my schedule.

    Alden2019-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing. Doreen and Tom are incredibly welcoming and have great suggestions of what to do. The breakfast is delicious with home baking and the rooms are fantastic. We highly recommend this place and really enjoyed our stay.

  • Not to be missed! Doreen and Tom’s b&b is nestled in the foot hills, offering the most spectacular walks from the door step. A super friendly and fun couple with a stunning house, make this a top country escape. Best not to drive too late at night unless you seek the buzz of all that comes with driving the rustic and rural.

The ideal place to get away from it all! Nestled amongst oak trees on a small private peninsula at Caragh Lake lies Acorn Cottage, a cosy three-bedroom lakefront hideaway just off the Wild Atlantic Way with luxury interiors, open fire and all modern conveniences. Voted one of the "Top 50 Places to Stay" by The Irish Times in 2019.

Caragh Lake has two high end restaurants right on the lake, Cromane a seafood restaurant with views of the Atlantic and Glenbeigh a number of pubs and a local brasserie. • On a scale of 1-10, Acorn Cottage is an 11. The house is luxurious and cozy. The views of Caragh Lake are lovely and there is good local walking. We could not have been happier. Jens was very responsive and checked in to make sure all was well with us. Can’t imagine anyone not loving it here.

    Mary2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful house in an unbeatable location - morning dips in the lake at the bottom of the garden and peaceful evenings in the sunken living room. A wonderful place to switch off. Great facilities and lots to do in the area.

    Louise2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely location -- and the house matches the serene lakeside setting. Jens and Michelle have thought of everything in terms of appliances, kitchenware, amenities, and convenience, so much so that we didn't even need to accept their gracious offer to show us around.. The house is a total turnkey operation: you show up and feel like you've lived there forever. We used the house as a staging area for playing Kerry's great golf courses, but we'd go back just to relax on the lake, hike the peaks -- and mebbe sneak in a round or two as well. Our adults kids want to join us based on the photos. Marvelous home.

    Mark2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • A magical and otherworldly setting in the woodland by the side of the lake (which we swam in every day). Isolated, silent and totally beautiful - the perfect place to escape to. The fire pit at the front of the house was amazing for al fresco dining and late night conversations. The cottage itself was sparkling clean and well equipped. Jens and Michelle are fantastic hosts - even leaving us an apple pie (possibly the best apple pie we've ever eaten - made by Jack's bakery in Killorglin just down the road). We are already planning another visit.

    Ben2019-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Our holiday at Acorn House was almost otherworldly. Beautiful setting lakefront on Caragh. We were met and led to property. No sounds of cars, trucks, planes or trains. The home is very comfortable and is sure to please the most discerning guest. Large kitchen and dining indoors or out. The beds were heavenly with crisp white linens and fluffy comforters. Hiking galore. Jens arranged a guide for fishing and recommended Carrig house which is nearby. Fabulous food and gardens. Good WiFi too! Solid 10

    Erin2018-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • The house is as idyllic as described. It is just as beautiful as it looks on the pictures. The hosts are very friendly and attentive. We can only recommend the hotel. The area offers many possibilities for hiking or simply to admire nature. You can also find cultural attractions nearby. There is something for everyone. If you want to experience Ireland is in this spot very well cared for!

    Dennis2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Idyllic holiday oasis in fantastic nature For the selection of the house for us was above all the quiet and somewhat secluded location in the nature directly at the lake in combination with the many leisure activities of different kind. Whether relaxing on the beach, going to the (pub) culture, sightseeing, strolling through nice cities and shopping, walking, eating, fishing, staring, canoeing etc. We have a wonderful, relaxing holiday with many unforgettable experiences spent. The house has contributed a lot in its unique location on the small peninsula - surrounded by trees, the Lough Caragh and so much nature. It is absolutely quiet here! The hotel is also an ideal starting point for exploring the Ring of Kerry. The next village with nice pubs and great eating places is also quite fast by car. The layout of the house was for us as a family of 4 with our two kids (13 and 16 years) perfect and very comfortable, especially with the three bathrooms. The house is generously cut and very well equipped, also with the most important items of the daily requirement in sufficient quantity supplied as coffee, dish soap, toilet paper, kitchen roll, detergent etc, which is not necessarily self-evident. It was clean and well maintained. Even the firewood lay ready stacked in the fireplace for a first fire. Here simply fit the "small" details, which are responsible for the well-being. The beautiful seating area in front of the house overlooking the lake invites you to a leisurely breakfast in the open, for reading or simply for doing nothing. Even a grill for the preparation of a steak from the local butcher or the self-caught fish is available. The description of the house is really perfect. Michelle and Jens are great hosts. They have us during our stay here as well and warmly cared for, as we have not experienced so far. They were always available, provided us with detailed and valuable information about the area and made us feel more welcome here. You arrive and feel right at home. Such hosts give the AirBnB idea all the honorable thanks to you both! If we were to return to this area, we would definitely book this house again. This accommodation is absolutely and absolutely recommendable!

  • This Lakefront Cottage is pure loveliness. Perfectly secluded, situated just so in the centre of the serenity of Caragh Lake, just on the edge of a Dark-Sky Reserve (one of only three Gold Tier Dark-Sky Reserves in the world) — Yet perfectly located to explore and adventure the majestic landscape that surrounds - the Ring of Kerry, Killarney National Park, astounding Rossbeigh Beach at low tide - everywhere one desires to experience is in the not too far distance — and then there’s this wonderful haven to come home to. On clear nights the sky is alight with the most magnificent constellations, the most fascinating view we’ve ever seen. Everywhere is beautiful here. The house is perfectly equipped with every necessity. Every bed is very cozy. Every room has a warmth. It is quite luxurious and spacious - immaculately kempt. We loved our stay so much that we extended three times or is it four? (Honestly we haven’t left yet but will soon, promise) Jens and Michelle are indeed super hosts. They are so accommodating - entertaining our many questions and curiosities of the area. Acorn Cottage is the Magic Lake House, as we are more likely to call it, fondly in memory. It is truly inspirational here.

  • This charming house has the warmest touch because of the hosts. The view from the house of the lake is amazing and it soothes any anxiety! The chance to walk in the hills surrounding the lake should be taken. I highly recommend this Airbnb because it combines lovely people with a great experience in Kerry. I would rate it more than 5 stars if I could.

  • We had the most beautiful stay in this stunning Airbnb! The house is even more beautiful in real life and the view is out of this world. The house was beautiful, spacious and clean and Catherine had kindly left us some local treats such as wine, soda bread and local produce to make a morning fry 😊 The area is very quiet and peaceful and the drive to the local towns on it’s own is a treat as the views are incredible. Catherine was a fantastic host and promptly assisted us if we had a query. We cannot wait to plan a trip back!

  • Fia Lodge is a beautiful home in a stunning location. Fantastic!

    Vincent2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place. Complete calm. Beautiful walks possible in the surroundings. No need to run further because paradise if it exists is here ...

    Sophie2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • The house was fabulous with massive windows overlooking a view of the distant mountains. We were surrounded by woods and it was so peaceful to wake to birdsong. The Kerry Way passes close by and we had a lot of fun hiking right from the house in a secluded section of trail. I already miss the tranquil setting and we hope to return!

    Micaella2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • The very definition of off the beaten path, the road to Fia Lodge is best done by daylight – not just because it might be a bit tricky first time in the dark, but because when you get there you have the most spectacular view. The house is dedicated to this vista – overlooking the Reeks – with its double-height front room opening up the view. You can wake up to it in either bedroom as well. The house is modern (in a good way) and well equipped. There are two bathrooms. The beds are particularly comfy. And the decor is functional with some small tasteful additions. So you can be yourself here. It was a nice contrast to the old cottage we stayed in the following week in West Cork. Nearby, there are beautiful woods to walk in. And, of course, you are surrounded by spectacular landscape. We were with two young kids, so we tended to make day trips to the coast, taking mountain passes or the famous Ring of Kerry to get to towns and beaches. Just don't expect to pop out for a pint of milk... Check in was smooth. Catherine wasn't there, but there's a key lock, and she's fairly near by. Our only regret was not stoking up the fire...

    Simon2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Stunningly beautiful home in a gorgeous setting. Very comfortable with all the comforts of home plus some very nice touches that included some fresh baked goods and a bottle of wine upon arrival! We wished we had booked a longer stay to more fully enjoy the home and the surrounding area. Would highly recommend Fia Lodge to travelers visiting the Ring of Kerry region!

    Neil2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a peaceful few days in this lovely home. Spacious and bright. Very quiet location. Lovely land to explore on. Beautiful view of the mountains. Gorgeous yellow and red flowers blowing in the breeze. Self check-in feature is wonderful. Thoughtful touches and generous amenities. Thank you Catherine!

    Danielle2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fia Lodge is located in the middle of the Ring of Kerry in a beautiful scenic area, ideal for hiking. Pure nature, the few neighbors you do not even was. We felt very comfortable, family with two teenagers, here. The windows are large and you have a good view of the beautiful surroundings. A hare came over again and again. The whole house is huge, each bedroom has its own bathroom. For 4 people absolutely recommendable. Catherine is a great host, very friendly and accommodating and she responded to requests very quickly. When we arrived the fridge was filled with food for breakfast and in the living room is a lot of information material such as maps of the area or information on nearby tourist attractions available. The central fireplace was already equipped with wood. The area is part of the Dark Sky Nature Reserve, the starry sky is gorgeous. Great for relaxing and exploring southwest Ireland.

  • The Comfy Cottage is an excellent location to stay. The views from anywhere in the cottage or outside are breathtaking. Patricia was a pleasure to deal with, very friendly and quick to reply to communication. Would highly recommend staying here and can definately see myself going back again.

  • Wow, just wow. The cottage is and looks exactly as written and shown in the pictures. The pictures of the views do not do it justice, they are even better. Everything you might need is there. Glenbeigh is reached by car in like 3minutes, there are various pubs, a post office and a gas station which is a supermarket as well. Patricia greeted us with fresh eggs and self made bread! Thank you so much, we definitely will stay at this little gem again.

  • Goulan cottage was our favourite stay during our 2 week trip in Ireland! The cottage has an incredible view of green hills and ocean, and some friendly sheep in the yard too! We almost didn’t want to leave the cottage to explore as we were so comfortable in this beautiful retreat. It was however located in a great spot to visit Dingle by car and a great spot to start a trip around the Ring of Kerry. Patricia went out of her way to make our stay comfortable by leaving us some fresh eggs and home made soda bread. We felt very spoilt! We also had a fantastic lunch at the Italian restaurant in the town of Glenbeigh, Emilie’s. We would highly recommend this place.

  • A lovely cottage, with good facilities and a stunning view of Glenbeigh & Inch Bay.

    Julian2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is a little piece of heaven in Kerry. We were Patricia's first guests and couldn't have enjoyed our stay more. There were lots of delicious treats waiting for us including fresh brown bread. Patricia has thought of everything. The decor is fab also. But the stand out feature has got to be the view. Oh my goodness. It's incredible. Surrounding by unreal views of mountains. We had our breakfast al fresco one morning, and it was just perfect. If you want a weekend away, and looking for a peaceful cottage this is for you. Also, only one mile drive from the main amenities of Glenbeigh and of course it's glorious beach is only 5-10 mins drive. Good Luck Patricia with your new venture. Thanks so much for great stay. We'll definitely be back.

Das Gap of Dunloe (ca. 20 km).
  • A very good place to enjoy Kerry with a spectecular view. A wonderful sunroom also for some rainy moments. A beautyful hiking track up on the mountains starts directly at the house. Don‘t miss the chance to walk or drive some km to the near verly lonely lake.

  • The apartment is great, clean , tidy , ideal for touring the ring of Kerry , either by car, foot or cycling . The pub below serves basic pub food which was lovely. Nice pint of Guinness too!

  • Noreen's place is lovely and freshly renovated. The kitchen is sufficiently equipped to prepare your own meals, which is handy as there is not much in terms of restaurants or shopping in the vicinity. The location is perfect for walking and the Ring of Kerry and you can get a rewarding Guiness in the pub on the ground floor, which we didn't find noisy at all. We'd love to come back sometime!

My place is close to restaurants and Beaches. You’ll love my place because of the cosiness, the location, and the views. A truly perfect base to travel around the ring of kerry climb the highest mountain in Ireland, if after your day of activities you just want to relax in ultimate peace you will feel truly at home in nature, and in the cottage. The air is so pure and the night sky full of stars you will sleep like a baby. FREE WIFI IS AVAILABLE AT THE COTTAGE
Frankie's cottage has a wood burning stove, a kitchen /dining ,shower and bathtub, outside is a vine covered pergula for dining alfresco. A master bedroom with a canopy bed with views from every window.
We are located in the mountains it's a 20min drive to Killarney and maybe 15min to Killorglin, the local shop is 3mls from cottage which has milk, bread etc and petrol. Next bigger shop is about 15mins drive but kIllarney and Killorglin have all the big supermarkets.
  • Mary’s cottage is large and roomy. It is well off the beaten track so is VERY quiet. Some of the road from the highway to the cottage is very narrow but fortunately not too busy. Loved the music at nearby Kate Kearneys Cottage.

  • This place was beyond beautiful. I had no idea when I booked it how gorgeous its location would be. You'd definitely need a car to get around. The outdoor area in the front and back are stunning. The first night, we made tea and sat out in the pitch black on a bench (we didn't turn the lights on) and listened to the silence and watched the stars. We cooked nearly every meal in the kitchen, and when we wanted, we popped into Killarney for a meal. The house was well stocked with basic amenities and the views from the windows are incredible! I will definitely stay here again if I go back to Kerry!

  • Frankie's cottage is an amazing place to stay in beautiful County Kerry. The cottage is very comfortable; set in a large garden and surrounded by spectacular views of the mountains, you can sit out and enjoy the peace and tranquility, the only noise that of birdsong and sheep in the neighbouring field. At night the skies are so clear you can stargaze without light pollution, and after a great nights' sleep in the comfortable bed you can enjoy breakfast under the vine-clad pergola whilst watching the rabbits that are frequent visitors. We found our stay to be very relaxing, and enjoyed walking the Gap of Dunloe, visiting nearby Killarney and strolling in the lanes by the cottage. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

    Carole2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely place in a very peaceful environment. The cottage has everything you could possibly need and very nice hosts in Mary and Fernando. The location may seem to be 'in the middle of nowhere' but if you want to see different parts of beautiful Kerry, it's actually in the middle of everywhere. For city dwellers like us, this was the perfect place to get away from it all.

  • The cottage is spectacular. A cottage in the middle of the countryside surrounded by gardens and meadows. The house is very cozy with spacious rooms and a very large kitchen with everything you need. An outside space with table and chairs. Everything very well looked after.

  • We spent a total of 8 idyllic days in this beautiful cottage and were completely satisfied - the cottage is easy to live with 4 people (we were only two), is absolutely adequate equipped and has a beautiful view, to which you also did not get used after eight days. Conveniently located on the Ring of Kerry and very close to many great natural attractions. We are always happy to come back!

  • What a beautiful place this was. I don’t think I’ve stayed in a better location! House was great with plenty of space and 3 bathrooms! The views were amazing and with fishing and swimming right on your doorstep. Jens and Michelle were great hosts. Helpful, thoughtful and informative. Thank you for a magnificent stay! • Jens and his wife truly are Super Hosts! Our experience at Salmon Cottage was one to remember. You won’t find a better location anywhere in Ireland with so much to see and do right on your doorstep. We were blessed with a week of sunshine, adventure, raw natural beauty and plenty of good food. Our hosts had plenty of excellent recommendations of things to do and see in the area. Salmon Cottage is a beautifully kept property with plenty of space and views to die for. Thank you for a truly wonderful experience and a magical time in Kerry. Albert and Esther.

  • Wow! What a location location location! Absolutely stunning property with lake and mountain views. You will NOT want to leave. Cozy, comfortable- excellent for family or a friendly gathering. And the windows- so many to open, let in the breezes off the lake and just enjoy the setting. There was so much to see and do in the area but we just wanted to sit in the cozy reading chairs, light the fire and enjoy the space. If you do venture out- It is very close to many towns (Killorglin is fantastic), The Ring of Kerry, Dingle etc. Definitely recommend this home!

    Jennifer2018-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is the most incredible accommodation and Jens has definitely earns his Superhost rating. Everything was perfect, from communications to the beautifully clean and spacious accommodation to the wonderful lakeside scenery on our doorstep. Nothing was too much trouble for our host and we got some fantastic recommendations for places to visit, restaurants, beaches, fishing... all which suited our family brilliantly. We had a most magical week and we highly recommend this location and our host. We are already planning our return.

  • This home’s setting is perfect for someone wanting serenity with a spectacular view. The home’s architecture fits the nature it sits in and the placement on the property captures all the views. The interior is well appointed, comfortable and very clean. The owners care about your stay and the hospitality was fantastic. A few light bulbs were out - fixed right away. Internet service was interrupted - a solution in about an hour. The kitchen had plenty of cooking supplies and we ate in most nights - why leave such a beautiful place? The location makes exploring the Ring of Kerry quite easy and although the house is “remote” a well stocked grocery store, butcher counter, and gas station is just 12 minutes away. I hope to stay in this home again someday.

  • Bridie's place is beautifully located, very quiet and rural with everything we needed. The fresh soda bread was delicious

  • Great cottage in a remote setting, with spectacular views- the perfect location for chilling & getting away from the fussiness of life.

  • I wish I could give Regan's Cottage more than 5 Stars. Everything about the place is perfect. The country location is amazing. Breathtaking mountain views. The cows right outside the front door. The cottage is very clean. The water comes from a local spring. The brown bread to welcome you is delicious. A great place to start a Ring of Kerry tour or Gap of Dunloe trip. Only regret is that two nights was nowhere near enough!

  • Housing and the environment are in all respects in accordance with descriptions, that is to say, remarkable. We particularly appreciate the magnificent view of the mountains, in a silence that only intermittently disturbs the sheep. Provide provisions, because we are far from everything.

    Jean2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • The five of us spent three days in the Bridie cottage. Although we did not see or speak to Bridie, the welcome was warm with a delicious apple pie that was ready for us. The cottage is stylish and attractive and very comfortable. But the best is the peace, quiet and above all the fantastic view. Eaten outside many times and drank coffee, enjoying the panorama. For us the cottage was a very pleasant base to enjoy the rugged nature in the area. Absolutely recommended !!

  • My family and I had a wonderful stay at the cottage. It is in beautiful and very peaceful area, with lovely views in every direction. The cottage itself was very cosy, and we found the beds especially comfortable. The hosts were friendly and helpful, and we especially loved the homemade brown bread! I would highly recommend visiting here.

  • The cottage was beautiful. The trek to find the place was just as amazing as the stay. Very comfortable, great amenities. I'd definitely stay here again.

  • After a long walk from Killarney, it was a real pleasure to meet Tom and Doreen and discover their cosy B&B in Bridia Valley. I wish we had more time to enjoy the place as such a nice cocoon deserves more than just a night and a breakfast, even if both were excellent. Tom and Doreen know how to feel you welcome and really care for you. An excellent place to stay!

    Laura2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great overnight stay on our way to the Ring of Kerry. The drive to Gerladine's place is beautiful in its own right and we want to come back one day to continue driving the mountain roads that take you to Gerladine's place. She was a kind host who gave us plenty of local advice and our stay was very comfortable. The drive out in the morning is as beautiful as arriving in the sunset in the evening. You definitely want to stay here.

    Janis2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • A nice accommodation in a beautiful place. The location right on the lake is definitely an absolute plus point. The room was very clean and decorated with attention to detail. For our trip through Ireland this accommodation was definitely the right one.

  • Geraldine is really kind. The house is lovely and the room was perfect. I would recommend her house.

    María2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Geraldine is the SWEETEST host ever. My GPS went crazy on me and I called her to get directions and when I wasn't there in a reasonable amount of time - she came out after me and I followed her back down the road to the house. The room and bathroom are both huge and everything is brand new and beautiful inside. Outside the views are unparallel - it's a blissfully quiet haven halfway down a valley so there are 360 views up and down the hills and all around. Gorgeous! I would highly recommend for anyone looking to get away from staying in town but still be close enough to go into town for dinner or go out exploring doing the day.

  • Stunning does not capture the spectacular views and overall natural beauty of this home on Caragh Lake. We comfortably stayed with 13 family members from ages 1 to 66! The house layout is amazing and accommodates sleeping in or rising early without disturbance. Hiking, food, services are all easy to access. Day trips to Dingle, Killarney and The Ring of Kerry were easy to manage from this home base. Great location and great hosts in a well appointed and very comfortable home.

  • We stayed in the house with 13 people and it was amazing. The house is done up so beautifully and the hosts were amazing during the whole process. The kitchen has every appliance you can think of and the rooms are set up very classy and thoughtful. The view on the lake is incredible.

    Jana2019-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • In a word? Superb!!! Michelle and Jens are wonderful hosts, and the house is even better than it appears in the listing. For a group of middle-aged golfers like us it was ideal....expansive, picturesque setting, wonderful amenities, lots of common space and so much more! We've rented many houses over the years and this one has set a new standard. Would not hesitate to recommend it, and hope to return. It would be ideal for a couple of families or a big extended family. I could go on and on about how wonderful it is....but you should just go ahead and book it!

  • We had a wonderful family gathering in Jens Lake House. The living areas are spacious and the kitchen is well equipped. The views are incredible. We enjoyed walks from the house. We hope to visit again sometime!

The Barralach cottages are a sheep farm with truly stunning views over Caragh Lake, the Macgillycuddy's Reeks, Dingle Bay and Dooks bay. We're on the Wild Atlantic Way, the Ring of Kerry and the Kerry Way. Our ancient cottages are stone-built and cosy. Activities range from touring County Kerry, hiking our wild open mountains, mountain biking, fishing, golfing, visiting Skellig Michael. In over 50 five-star reviews elsewhere we've been described as "the most beautiful spot in Ireland".
Barralach is high on a hillside far from the crowds. Our 3 cottages provide space, comfort and independence for the different elements of your party. But the entire party come joyously together in the spacious Main cottage to enjoy the 14 seater dining table , the powerful wood stove, large kitchen, panoramic ever-changing views over Caragh Lake, The Macgillycuddy's Reeks, and of course our sheep and lambs, and our library too, and our party games! Outside, your mountain hikes into our hundreds of acres start right at the front door.
Beyond the Barralach farm are great hillsides of heather and rough land grazed by flocks of free-range sheep. They are a hiker's paradise. But within sight down hill you have the great Atlantic ocean with its magnificent beach at Rossbeigh. Here also is charming Glenbeigh village with its animated pubs and restaurants.
  • We were three families with small kids (aged 0 - 4 years old) who stayed at the Barralach cottages for a week in September. This is a truly special place that in every way exceeded all our expectations. I can honestly say that we could not have found a better or more beautiful place for our stay in Ireland! The view is absolutely spectacular and both the adults and the kids in the group loved the beautiful surroundings The main cottage is beautifully decorated and has a lovely homely feeling. It was also large enough to easily fit our three families for all meals. We especially appreciated the well equipped kitchen, the great collection of books, and of course the fire place! Peter was a wonderful host-increadibly kind and considerate. He really paid attention to every little detail. From sending us the first welcoming letter with detailed driving instructions and information about our visit to calling us a few days into our stay to make sure everything was ok and to ask if we had any questions. Anyone who gets to stay at this place is incredibly lucky. We're bringing so many beautiful memories with us from Barralach and truly hope that we can return one day!

    Maria2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The stay at Barralach was a truly outstanding experience. Before we arrived Peter had reached out in a way that no host ever has before, sending info that would prove to be very useful to our arrival and stay. The location is amazing and the house is ridiculously user friendly with tips and instructions for everything. We had a large group with babies and older adults, and not a single complaint from anybody. I won’t try and describe the setting as I’m not nearly as eloquent as would be required. Simply amazing. So many things to do each day, from local swims to Dingle day trips. The cottages are warm and cosy and comfy beds. The host made it wonderfully easy to enjoy an amazing week in a slice of heaven that almost certainly we will be back to.

    Gavin2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We have just returned from a fantastic week at Barralach. The views are amazing, it’s warm and clean, and there are great walks all over the area. We did day trips to Valentia, Killarney and Dingle and enjoyed some lazy days at the cottage. It is very relaxing to just sit and watch the sheep come in and out if the yard, talking to each other. We also took advantage of Betty’s lamb roast which was a highlight. For those with kids, there’s a great library and playground in Killorglin that kept the toddlers happy. Highly recommend.

    Kitty2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing experience we had staying at these cottages. The views are breathtaking, the sheep were fun to be around and the place is just beautiful. We had quite the adventure. Peter was so nice and responsive. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to find peace and quiet in the Ireland countryside.

    Mike2019-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. Where to start? Great location (but if your car has lower than normal ground clearance the access road might be problematic). Clean. Warm inside (basically no to little need to use the radiators). Spectacular views. We only wish we had a longer stay. Four nights was not enough! For provisions there's a SupaValu and ALDI about 15 mins away. We stayed with another couple and had a baby and toddler with us. Keep in mind you'll to dispose of your own rubbish.
