Places to stay in Fintry
A cosy self-contained apartment joined to a beautiful 18th century cottage. Nestled in the rural surroundings of the Campsie Fells and Fintry Hills, this welcoming accommodation has been converted specifically as its own independent holiday home.
A flexible space which allows for up to 4 guests, with all amenities provided. Enjoy stunning views out towards the Fintry Hills with a cup of tea in hand, either from the large, mature gardens or from the full height picture windows. The space includes a beautiful walk-in shower room with heated flooring and laundry facilities, as well as a fully equipped galley kitchen with all mod-cons. Comfortable and peaceful, The Sidings offers you the perfect little slice of rural paradise!
Fintry is a lovely little village located just a stone's throw from countless tourist attractions, on the edge of a national park and surrounded by areas of incredible natural beauty. Within walking distance, the village offers a choice of traditional pubs, cafés, a 14th century castle, restaurants and a sports centre (which hosts the village shop) - with plenty more to explore just a short drive away. Glasgow, Stirling and Edinburgh are all easily accessible for day trips by car or rail from Stirling.
  • The stay was just perfect: In a lovely village, free parking in front of the door, attentive hosts, everything was extremely clean and also beautifully decorated. We hope to come again in the future.

  • The Sidings is a beautiful, warm and cosy place, that’s had a lot of thought and attention put into it. Kayt and David’s communication was excellent and there were a lot of nice touches such as the milk and bread, the draw full of useful items and the many books on Scotland. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The view from the back is stunning, and regardless of the weather it’s very relaxing to watch the scenery with a good book. Fintry is a very nice village with a welcoming and friendly inn just across the road. There are some lovely walks nearby and lots to do within a short drive. The awesome Loup of Fintry waterfall is just a couple of miles away, well worth a visit even in the middle of Storm Ciara! I’d have no hesitation in recommending the Sidings for any length of stay.

  • Really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful place. Loved the well designed, railway themed apartment. Fantastic garden, enjoyed by us (especially our daughter) and also home to red squirrels and bats.

    Sam2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Kayt and David were the perfect hosts of this charming, modern and cosy apartment. The space itself is wonderful, the large windows mean you can take in the astounding view and they included everything to make us feel at home. The best part are the humerous touches around the apartment and the warm cosy fire. Communication was also above and beyond. A faultless experience, can't wait to return!

  • Amazing! Absolutely loved it. The house was beautiful and couldn’t have asked for anything better!

  • Beautiful place with stunning views of the gardens and mountains in the distance.

  • This house is more than a 5star hotel room. Kayt’s attention to every detail in the house is mesmerising . It has the perfect blend of thoughtful modern architecture. We regret that we just booked this place for 2 days. This place rejuvenates your soul.

  • This place is one of our favs so far. It has everything you could think of and the decor is out of this world. 5 stars all round. Couldn't fault it any way. A real luxury stay in a quaint little area.

Our home is a beautiful extended cottage with frankly outstanding views and set within a lovely garden, just over a mile outside the idyllic village of Fintry towards Kippen. Our place is nestled in the shadow of the Campsie Hills. You’ll love our place because of the views and we're ideal for couples and solo adventurers. We're also ideally located for the popular wedding venues of Culcreuch Castle and The Tin Shed at Knochraich Farm
A spacious double bedroom with lovely quiet views over the fields. The double bedroom is part of a lovely extended cottage, built in a traditional style and with views that are simply glorious. The bedroom includes use of a double mirrored wardrobe and a private shower room with toilet, shower and sink. This is located directly next door to the bedroom. A travel cot can also be provided should this be needed.
Fintry sits at the foothills of the Campsie Fells. It is approximately 5 miles east of the popular villages of Killearn and Balfron. It is one of the first communities in Scotland moving towards energy self-sufficiency and the village has its own wind turbine. The village is a welcoming community and has a local shop, sports centre, a pub and cafe. The Endrick Water runs through its centre and the surrounding countryside is stunning. Despite the tranquillity of its rural idyll, the cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh can be reached within an hour by car with Stirling only half an hour away.

  • We had a very comfortable night's stay. The place was very clean and the room was good value. We had a wedding down the road and they were very kind to drop us off there in the afternoon. They also provided a nice breakfast to round off the stay. Thanks!

  • Beautiful place to stay with very friendly hosts. We came for a Scottisch wedding and had a good time in Fintry.

  • This place is beautiful, so tranquil and such a great location in the hills. We enjoyed a lovely "off the beaten track" walk and a superb meal at the Fintry Inn before heading to Victoria and Richard's. They were really welcoming and the room is lovely. Just what you need for an escape to the country. Everything is sparkling clean and the house is very thoughtfully decorated. We really enjoyed our stay and a leisurely breakfast. Thank you.

  • The cottage is wonderful, with amazing views of the surrounding countryside. Inside the decor is lovely, our private room was clean and cosy. Our welcome couldn't have been warmer, being made a cup of tea on arrival and the hospitality throughout our stay couldn't have been better. Our hosts Victoria and Richard were lovely, they more than looked after us and gave us tips for future vists, thier son Alistair was adorable. Me and my partner couldn't recommended this place enough! Even if it's out of your way it's worth it and at only around £60 it's a bargain as well.

    Robert2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Victoria's place. Hosts were very friendly and helpful, the room was lovely and we were very comfortable. The location was ideal for attending a wedding nearby and would be a great hub for exploring the area further.

  • Helena's place is in a fabulous location, very well presented and clean - and a really comfortable bed! Definitely recommended.

    Michael2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location, spotless accommodation and a very comfortable bed. The cafe in the courtyard was also good for a quick bite to eat, breakfast or lunch. I'd recommend this place highly.

    Phil2018-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Very cosy flat with really comfy bed. Beautiful surroundings & the staff at the cafe are very friendly & helpful. Short trip to Loch Lomond which is very picturesque.

  • Beautiful place to stay close to Glasgow and Loch Lomond National park. It’s located on a lovely farm with a cafe and has everything you need. Lovely British style and high quality furniture.

    Victoria2018-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Helena’s place is great! We had the best time, quiet sleep and beautiful views all topped off by a super delicious and fresh breakfast from the adjacent cafe. Knockraich farm is a sanctuary!

    Steffie2018-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a truly magical stay! We thoroughly enjoyed our break. Wonderful food at the Courtyard Cafe. ALL staff were always smiling and attentive. A special mention to Ingrid in the cafe. She’s a just a wee ray of sunshine and clearly loves her job. See you all again!

    Gary2018-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for either as a touring stop or as a base for colouring the region. The apartment is tastefully decorated with items from the interior design business below. It was very clean and tidy with a kitchen dining room and good sized bedroom. Helena also thoughtfully left a bottle of milk and butter from the farm in the fridge. The area is very quiet (apart from the early morning cows which are a delightful reminder that this is a diversified working farm) The Courtyard Cafe serves an amazing breakfast with milk, yoghurt and butter from the farm. The jams are also delicious. If you don’t want to cook, it is a 15minute walk into the village where the local pub serves good quality food and locally brewed beer. The photographs of the apartments are accurate and up to date.

  • We had a wonderful stay. The hosts were very thoughtful and the location was beautiful. Not the easiest place to find...but worth it when you get there.

  • Lovely accomodation with everything we could need for our stay. Betty made sure the room was suitable for our two year old with travel cot and toys. The room itself had nice touches, including milk and shortbread which was perfect after a day of walking; it was warm and clean, beds were very comfy and the views were very impressive. We opted to have breakfast in the morning, and we are so glad we did as Betty made sure we were all well fed and looked after. Would definitely stay here again in the future! Thank you very much Betty.

And the Scottish breakfast is excellent. We were in family. With our two teens and our baby. She even lent games to the baby. I recommend you take a ride on Betty's side. A big thank you to her.

  • Moreen’s place is very much as advertised: a tranquil get-away, with great access to the Trossachs National Park and a fantastic view. The flat is stylishly designed and furnished; extremely light, warm and very comfortable. Bathroom, bed and galley kitchen are all lovely, as is the comfortable seating area with view. Everything was sparkling clean, and Moreen had left a variety of cooking essentials plus lots of books, dvds, etc.

    Mike2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Moreen’s studio is delightful with a view that is second to none. The studio is well equipped and as others have said the bed is delightful. Moreen also left us a little welcome bottle of Prosecco which was lush.

  • One of our most enjoyable stays in an Airbnb listed lodgings, and such lovey owners. So many thoughtful touches like Prosecco in the fridge, DVDs, fully fitted kitchen, lots of reading material, fantastic bed and shower, and of course that wonderful view. Couldn’t have asked for more, this accommodation comes highly recommended. I’m sure we’ll be back for another child-free long weekend!

Once upon a glen, there was a house. A house where people meet, mingle and muse. Where parties are planned, children play and vows are made. Where there is a constant rush of water mixed with music, laughter and the clinking of glasses. A gateway to Glasgow and the Highlands, that house is Finglen House. A warm Scottish welcome awaits you, relax, unwind, and find the space to be yourself.
Finglen House Bed and Breakfast is perfectly situated for anybody who wants to explore Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park and the surrounding area as well as further afield to Glasgow, Stirling and Edinburgh. Loch Lomond and the Trossachs were recently designated a national park and another 30 min drive will take you to some of the finest scenery in Scotland. If you’re feeling energetic take the West highland Way; a long distance footpath of 90 miles from Glasgow to Fort William or enjoy the many way marked walks along the shores of the Loch. For steam enthusiasts the Walter Scott steamship runs regularly on Loch Katrine during the Summer. The city of Glasgow is only a 30 min drive away and if you don’t want to drive, an express bus will take you from the end of our drive to the city centre. Known as the second city of the Empire Glasgow has so much to offer. Admire the work of Glasgow’s great architect Charles Rennie MacIntosh and the lesser known “Greek” Thomson. The magnificent Glasgow school of Art is rising from the ashes after a devastating fire and you only have to turn the corner to view Thomson’s masterpiece now housing the Centre for Contemporary Art. Visit the transport Museum in Zaha Hadid’s strikingly modern design. Inside you will be transported back to Glasgow’s industrialised past and even be able to stroll down a genuine 1920’s street. Glasgow is home to three National companies; Scottish Ballet, Scottish Opera and The National Theatre of Scotland as well as numerous other theatres and music venues; enough to satisfy the most avid culture vulture. Walk through the vibrant area of Finniston and take your pick of the finest Scottish restaurants or cuisine from around the world. Edinburgh is 50 min drive and there is also a park and ride facility nearby at Croy (8 miles). Edinburgh is not only famous for the Edinburgh festival but has the deserved reputation of being on of the easiest cities in the world to explore on foot. Walk out of Waverley station in the very heart of the city and lift your eyes to the castle which dominates the skyline with the classical facade of the National gallery just below. from here it is an easy walk to the medieval Royal Mile and the Georgian splendour of the New Town. Cycle tracks, golf courses and pony trekking are all available within a short of Finglen Bed and Breakfast. The John Muir Way crosses the country from Helensburgh in the West to Dunbar in the East and is 134 miles long. The trail is way marked and maintained and is suitable for both cyclists and walkers. You can even ride your horse along sections and the trail runs right past the end of our drive! You can also walk or cycle from Finglen House to either Glasgow or Edinburgh all off road. The majority of this route is along the restored Forth and Clyde canal.
  • Had a lovely time here, I'd definitely recommend it to any travellers. The grounds are beautiful with a river and plenty of space to sit and enjoy looking at the countryside. It's very quiet and a perfect get away from the hustle and bustle of the outside, roughly half way between Glasgow and Edinburgh. Sabrina was a very good host, breakfast was of a high standard (both the cooked breakfast and the help yourself items) in a very nicely presented room. There's a sitting room with very comfortable couches too if you don't like being outside. The bedroom was clean and spacious and the bed comfortable, all in all a very good find.

  • Fabulously cosy shabby/ chic house in a beautiful setting. The bed was superb with lovely crisp white bedding . Breakfast was a treat with home made muesli and wild raspberries picked from the local wood! Sabrina was away so we were looked after by her very charming husband Douglas who couldn't have been more attentive and helpful.

Escape to, the low-key luxury country house. A place where many things come together. A warm Scottish welcome awaits you at Finglen: relax, unwind, and find the space to be yourself.
The beautiful nine acre garden and woodland gives a feeling of complete seclusion, rare for a property so close to Glasgow. Finglen enjoys an idyllic setting bordered on one side by the Fin Burn; home to herons, dippers, grey wagtail and mallard, and on the other by mature woodland. Finglen provides an excellent base for expeditions to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling or for exploring and experiencing the sublime beauty of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. Douglas works as a documentary cameraman and has travelled extensively in Scotland and is happy to give advice on expeditions further afield.
We can walk out of the door onto the hills for up to eight hours or explore, Loch Lomond, Glasgow, Edinburgh or Stirling all within easy reach
  • Warm hospitality, beautiful surroundings and fantastic breakfast

    Sally2018-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Sabrina and Douglas, were very helpful since our first contact over the phone. They were happy to help even when we informed them that we will arrive later than the indicative time for checking. Sabrina showed me all the best routes for running around the area and later the same morning took my 2 year old and collected eggs from her chickens. Spotless house and magic souroundings. We will definitely visit again

  • Sabrina's place is a rare find. If you are looking for a fantastic location to relax in or to do beautiful walks, climbing or cycling holidays in Scotland you really can't go past Sabrina's beautiful home. It is awesome!! Quiet, stunning gardens with an extensive Woodland Walk and Watercourse Finglen House is very private. It is also in an excellent location with easy travelling distance to Loch Lomond, Glasgow, Stirling and Edinburgh. All this, with a delicious breakfast to start your day with!! Sabrina and all her family are so welcoming you will be in for a treat with memories that you will treasure forever. A beautiful bedroom with very comfortable bed plus the sitting room with a log fire and spacious lounge Sabrina's home is a wonderful place to relax after a day out. Great restaurants nearby and Sabrina has so much knowledge of the area that places to go and things to see are easily shared with her guests. I cannot recommend Sabrina's beautiful BnB any more highly - it is a wonderful experience to find such tranquility in todays busy world. Thank you Sabrina, I had the best of times.

  • Oh my goodness. Where to start? Finglen House is a paradise, uniquely and perfectly situated for all your lowland needs. It is nestled back in the hills above the road, and very easy to find. I was blown away by its loveliness, a green sunny spot at the end of a long tree-tunneled drive. Sabrina and her husband are consummate hosts: it felt as if we were family right from the start. We had a great couple of days there, with the deer and their dappled little fawns cropping the lawn every morning, and the guinea fowl prowling the flowerbeds. Sabrina was out and about for much of our stay, but we never felt ignored, just trusted and welcomed. When she was home, we cozied up with a dram and swapped stories in the kitchen, in front of her red Aga, always kept warm. The room itself, in a corner of this 250-year-old house, is a lovely study in restful whites. The bath is right next to the room, so you don't have to go far. The corner windows get great light and pretty views over the back gardens. Sabrina is an artist, and her paintings adorn the house in several places. Perusing the walls was really fun, trying to guess which were hers. I will be back, with my husband in tow, to explore the area further, and to see Sabrina again. Stirling, Glasgow, Edinburgh, the Trossachs, Loch Lomond, Luss, and a world-class distillery, Glengoyne, are all within a few minutes' drive. There's plenty in the near countryside to hold Caledonophiles captive for many days.

  • Beautiful cottage in a great location, plenty of room for the 4 adults, 1 child and 2 toddlers we travelled with. Beautiful scenery, countryside location (but only 20 minutes from Stirling) and an amazing coffee shop (woodhouse) on your doorstep. Mark and carol made us feel at home but still had the privacy of our own car park, entrance, garden etc.

If you want to get back to nature but don't want to leave your creature comforts behind then "The Captain's Retreat" is the place for you. Having finished our first cabin, it has all of the luxuries you would expect from a 5* hotel, it just happens to also be in the most tranquil and private setting. Upon arrival you find your own designated parking space where you will walk through the enchanting woodland to find your very own little piece of calm, where you can unwind in a hand made cabin.
Inspired by his experience of living in the wild for a year and his Grandfather; a gold mining prospector Jack has created Finglen Cabins. The "Captain's Retreat" is a little piece of paradise where you can escape the hustle and bustle of modern life. Come and relax on the verandah with a long drink and listen to sound of bird song and the burn which runs through our wild flower meadow. Finglen Cabins has everything that you will need for a relaxing getaway, whether you want to stay for the weekend or a month we we have thought of everything. There is hot running water, electricity, a woodfired oven and hob as well as an electrical hob (just in case it's too hot to fire up the oven)! There is an indoor bathroom with hot shower, sink and composting toilet, yes we have an indoor composting toilet. Don't worry the composting toilet is state of the art, it has a fan to remove any "odd" smells and a full user guide is included in your cabin welcome pack as there are some key tips tha you need to know about using the composting toilet. The cabin sleeps two people in a luxurious double bed with a storage drawer cleverly hidden under the bed, we also have a small wardrobe for anyone who doesn't want to leave their fancy frocks behind. Heating is provided by the wood burning stove and there is an electrical radiator in the bathroom, so you wont have to worry about cold damp towels. The cabin has been designed and built to be very heat efficient so it doesn't require much heating, and when warm it holds its heat amazingly well. We have created a generous veranda so that you can enjoy the fresh air when relaxing or eating during your stay. The icing on the cake and we are very proud of this addition is the hot running outdoor bath tub. What more could anybody want than to soak in a hot bath on a summer or winters evening whilst enjoying your favourite tipple and gazing longingly at the meadow and river as it winds its way past the cabin.
Kick back and relax on the veranda and watch the aerial displays of Swallows and House Martins whilst enjoying spectacular sunsets over the river. With sunrise at 0430 and sunset at 2330 there is so much time to explore and enjoy the local area, climb mountains or just walk through the woods and relax.
  • Had a great stay, thank you

  • This was a last minute idea and we were so glad we did, beautiful scenery, enchanting feeling when the snow came down it was even prettier Sitting by the fire was so peaceful, I'm definitely booking again very soon, particularly looking forward to spending time there in the summer too

    Gordon2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely weekend staying here. When we arrived we were greeted by Douglas who showed us around the cabin and explained all we needed to know regarding the fire, how to use the toilet (compost toilet) etc. When he left he said we are welcome to come up to the house nearby if we needed anything. Turns out the sockets weren’t working, we went and spoke to the house and Sabrina came down straight away and it was fixed before we even noticed it! They were so lovely we honestly didn’t mind but we’re very thankful with how quick they sorted it! The fire was lush to heat the cabin and to cook on and there were plenty of logs provided which made things a lot easier! The bed was insanely comfy and cosy and the bath outside was just amazing! Everything was really easy from booking to checking out as communication was there throughout and it was handy having Douglas and Sabrina close by if we needed them but also that we were left to have privacy too as it was remote and surrounded by trees!

    Bonnie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the cabin. It was lots of fun to cook at the fire stove. We loved sitting on the veranda and the outdoor bathtub was an incredibly unique experience!

  • Great retreat in the country side, beautiful views, we couldn’t believe we were only 30 minutes from Glasgow. Our hosts were lovely, and the cabin was first rate. The outside bathtub was the cherry on top of the cake. We will definitely return in the summer.

A well reviewed and much loved, BnBreakfast in great rural location. Fairyglen cottage is a beautiful self-contained apartment with a separate, private entrance and is part of Glenside Cottage. It's ideal for 2/4 people. We are 17 miles from both Glasgow and Stirling and close to the villages of both Killearn and Balfron. The property is ideally situated for visiting Loch Lomond National Park and the Trossachs. People from all backgrounds are welcome here and dogs are welcome too!
This is an ideal retreat for couples and singles. Families where children can be supervised at all times are also warmly welcomed (we have a baby travel cot, baby bath, children's books, toys, games and crafts, and an airer/washing line). The reason for supervision is that we have an open pond and a stream with waterfalls in a small gorge that runs through the garden. Fairyglen cottage is situated within Glenside cottage and is the lower part of the new extension to the old original farmhouse. It is warm and cosy and well appointed with lots of amenities: TV/DVD in lounge and bedroom, WiFi, central heating and electric stove in lounge and space heaters if needed. In the kitchen, there is a 4-ring electric hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, health frier and many cooking accessories. In the shower-room, there are various toiletries for you to enjoy. We have provided a selection of games, DVDs, books and CDs so for these rainy days, this is a wonderful space in which to relax, restore and recharge 'batteries' for the amazing outdoors of Scotland which is on your doorstep! We have introduced another airbnb space (Glenside Lodge) in the old part of our cottage in the west wing (which is separate from and at the other end of the house from Fairyglen cottage) . We live in the central part of Glenside Cottage so the two airbnb spaces of Glenside Lodge and Fairyglen cottage are separate and private, each with their own entrances and each with a small private garden. We love living here and benefit from the harmony and peace of nature and also being close to so many amenities. We provide you with a continental style breakfast to take at your leisure. Our home is lovingly cared for.
Location · Morna and Alasdair’s home is located in between Killearn and Balfron, Lanarkshire, Scotland, United Kingdom. It’s 20 miles from Glasgow Airport and 50 miles from Edinburgh Airport. Fairyglen cottage is part of Glenside Cottage which lies up the farm track of Glenside Farm. The villages of Killearn and Balfron are both one and a half miles away and each village has local amenities, cafes and pub food. Each village has a different character and many amenities such as grocery stores, pharmacies, police station, library, cosy pubs, coffee shops, restaurants, garden centre, gift shops, and much more! Glengoyne Distillary is just outside Killearn! The pretty east side of Loch Lomond is about 15 mins drive and Aberfoyle (which is the gateway to the Trossachs and the West Highlands of Scotland) is also 15 mins drive. Exciting cities of Glasgow, Stirling and Edinburgh are all within easy reach or alternatively the Highlands of Scotland beckon! Historic castles and our Edinburgh Festival city are there for you. There are many and various activities and attractions local and within a easy drive. The hill walking and climbing locally are wonderful. Access to the West Highland Way is within about 20 mins walking distance. There is history to explore and explode your imagination. Also 'Outlander' spots such as the Finnoch Glen is about 10 mins drive from our house. We can offer all kinds of suggestions. If you love yoga, there are local drop in classes. And if you are passionate about salmon fishing, Alasdair is your man! There are fantastic local drives, boat trips and sea plane trips. In one day you can see the awesome West Coast of Scotland, or explore the Heart of Scotland, or venture over to the rolling East. We haven't seen it all...and we've been here for 21 years!!!
  • We stayed between Christmas and New Year when the weather was at its most demanding. We had a great time in the cottage; a comfortable base which expanded to host eight adults five toddlers and two dogs for lunch. Morna and Alasdair are very responsive hosts and the little touches they provide, including a box of dog towels and treats, made for a very welcoming arrival. The cottage is very well equipped for a couple and dog, very clean and cozy. We’d stay here again.

  • We had a wonderful stay in Morna and Alasdair’s lovely home. It was a great base for us to explore the local area and attend a wedding in a nearby village. They are fantastic hosts, giving very prompt responses and detailed, helpful instructions for finding the way. The added touch of providing breakfast was lovely and very much appreciated. This is a beautiful area of Scotland with lots to see and do, we wish we had much longer!

  • We stayed for 4 nights in August and had a lovely time. Great base to explore Loch Lomand, everything we wanted to visit was about 30 minutes drive away. Cottage was lovely, comfy big bed, bathroom great with nice strong shower, living room ok. We didn’t try the TV as we watched films on Netflix on a laptop so don’t know about channels. WiFi drops in and out but that was expected in the countryside! Kitchen quite small but workable! We probably should have realised that there wasn’t an oven before we went food shopping... however we managed to do what we planned in the slow cooker! Lovely breakfast provided of homemade bread, jam, eggs, milk, muesli everything you’d need! Loads of information on what to do in the area and really clear instructions on how to treat the house.

  • Rebecca and Bill’s home was amazing. The grounds and views from the bedroom were stunning. Beautiful large bedroom which was more than ample for 3 adults. Cosy, warm, lovely clean bathroom. Rebecca had set out a beautiful spread for breakfast which we did not expect at all. She made porridge or scrambled eggs. There was bread, jams, honey, cheese, orange juice and loads more. The bed was lovely and soft with big soft feather pillows. We found Rebecca’s directions easy to follow. The house had loads of interesting history. Highly recommended by the Hammond family.

  • Bill and Rebecca are amazing hosts! Their property is spectacular and this has been our second stay with them. They exceed all expectations, so if you’re near Fintry, Scotland, do yourself a favor and book this spot!

  • I can’t even begin to rave about this place enough. It is an actual Eden. Rebecca and Bill are so inviting and kind and their place is more than amazing. They provide a lovely breakfast as well as tea/coffee and your own mini fridge, kettle, toaster, and microwave you can use anytime. Lie in bed at night and watch the stars, have a luxurious bath with a view of rolling hills, walk to your very own private waterfall or wander around a garden reminiscent of Wonderland. I’ve stayed in many AirBnBs this trip and this was by far the best. If you want a beautiful, tranquil, inviting retreat then this is the BnB for you!

    Molly2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca and Bill have a warm, welcoming home and hospitality to match. The facilities give you the flexibility to cook and eat (microwave, fridge and toaster provided) in your own private space and to enjoy the beautifully kept gardens. Rebecca and Bill are fabulous hosts and if you wish a more sociable evening you will be sure to find the conversation interesting and enjoyable. It really is an extra special place and we are sure to be back.

    Carla2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • A really special place of peace and tranquility. The extremely large garden is beautiful complete with its own waterfall and river at the bottom. Rebecca and Bill are extremely warm and welcoming hosts but not intrusive. My room was beautifully furnished, the bed very comfortable and the views are amazing. Breakfast was outstanding and included freshly baked bread and great coffee. I can't wait to revisit!

I dealt with Alison mostly via messages, but her husband face to face and both were lovely decent people, very helpful and accommodated us and our dogs last minute. I would highly recommend staying here.

A well reviewed and much loved Bn Breakfast, Glenside Lodge is an original farmhouse and is the west wing of Glenside Cottage. In a secluded, rural setting, this beautiful house and garden is also near to Loch Lomond, the Trossachs, the West coast, Glasgow, Stirling, Edinburgh. Cosy pubs and restaurants are all about, wonderful hill walking, castles, whisky distilleries, quaint villages. Come back to a real log fire and enjoy the big traditional farmhouse kitchen. Dogs are welcome too!
Glenside is situated between the villages of Killearn and Balfron. Over the past 10 years, we have extended Glenside Cottage to include our living space and also Fairyglen cottage (another airbnb space in the south wing). We live in the central part of Glenside Cottage so the two airbnb spaces of Glenside Lodge and Fairyglen cottage are separate and private, each with their own entrances. We love living here and benefit from the harmony and peace of nature and also being close to so many amenities. We provide you with a continental style breakfast to take at your leisure and a 'starter pack' of logs for the fire (we make a small charge for extra wood or this can be purchased locally). The home is lovingly cared for and people of all backgrounds are welcome here.
Glenside Lodge is situated between the villages of Killearn and Balfron. Each village has a different character and many amenities such as grocery stores, pharmacies, police station, library, cosy pubs, coffee shops, restaurants, garden centre, gift shops, and much more! The pretty east side of Loch Lomond is about 15-20 mins drive and Aberfoyle (the gateway to the Trossachs) is 15 mins drive. Glasgow is 40 mins drive, Stirling 30 mins drive and Edinburgh an hours drive away. The hill walking and climbing locally are wonderful. Access to the West Highland Way is within about 20 mins walking distance. There is history to explore and explode your imagination. And we provide information in the House Book of local attractions. There are fantastic local drives, boat trips and sea plane trips. In one day you can see the awesome West Coast of Scotland, or explore the Heart of Scotland, or venture over to the rolling East. We haven't seen it all...and we've been here for 21 years!!!

The Pleasance is one of the original buildings in Fintry, which is situated between the Campsies and the Fintry Hills. Guests stay in a bright, comfortable room with high quality bedding and have a private bathroom with towels provided. Breakfast options are varied with ingredients sourced from local suppliers. Home baking is offered on arrival along with a hot drink while you get settled in. The house has a large garden where guests can sit out to enjoy the views. Our website has lots more.
The house was built c1850, and has always been a family home. We've done lots of renovation since moving here over 30 years ago and have tried to keep the character we love while making it a comfortable place to relax.
Fintry is an attractive village with a good local pub, just along the road, serving great food. The Courtyard Cafe at Knockraich Farm is an excellent choice for coffee and cake or for a delicious lunch. A walk round Culcreuch Castle, or along the mill lade, is a good way to walk off the calories and enjoy the scenery.
  • Anne is an amazing hostess. Having stayed at her BnB twice, we can vouch that she provides an incredible service to guests, inclusive of an out of this world breakfast. We'd come back just for her 'fresh from the oven' scones and savoury muffins alone! Highly recommend to anyone looking to attend a local wedding or sightseeing in the area - a real gem.

    Yvonne2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Anne was an excellent host. The Pleasance is very clean, roomy and comfortable. Anne very kindly offered to drop myself and my wife off at the local venue for the wedding we were attending which went over and beyond. The breakfast homemade cheese muffins were very tasty too. Already looking forward to our stay again in 3 weeks’ time.

  • Kim's cottage came out to be much more than we had expected! The rooms had tasteful decor and the kitchen space was large enough and generously furnished. The best part of the cottage was its location: Tucked neatly in a quiet road, with private open space all around, with views of lush green hills and Scottish countryside. Kim was very helpful in suggesting us places to visit in the time we had. Lou's Bake stop (2-3 min drive) is a pleasant surprise. The drive itself to Balfron is quite picturesque. Balmaha (for Conic Hill) and Balloch (for cruise rides) are within 30 min. drive. Altogether we cherished our time at Kim's place and we recommend it whole-heartedly!

    Amit2019-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had a great recent stay at Kim’s cottage, which is beautiful. We found our wee break very relaxing and peaceful. Views are incredible with easy access to the great Scottish outdoor. Kim is a great host, who is very responsive. Welcome cheese, chutney and cookies were a super nice touch!

  • Lovely cottage, beautifully decorated and amazing views. Everything has been thought of to make your stay enjoyable including a welcome pack of local treats, wood for the stove and detailed instructions and recommendations for everything. We felt at home straight away and loved being greeted everyday by Catherine the horse! Kim was friendly and unobtrusive- perfect!

Torran House is the perfect house for family and friends to get together and explore the natural beauty of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. This practical family home benefits from light, spacious rooms, a large garden and 2 log burning stoves. With uninterrupted views of the Campsie Fells and only a 10 minute walk to local amenities (including a butchers, bakers, Co-op and swimming pool), Torran house is the ideal family getaway.
On the ground floor the house has a large entrance hall leading into a spacious kitchen/dining space which also features a cosy sofa area with a log burning stove. French doors lead out from the kitchen onto a patio area and garden with a seating area with extensive views of the Campsie Fells. A useful utility room with a washing machine and pulley for drying clothes and a back door also leads off the kitchen. Also off the hall is a separate living room with log burning stove and smart TV. Also on the ground floor is a playroom/extra bedroom with table football, kids toys, games and a sofa bed. The ground floor also has a bathroom with shower. Upstairs a light and airy landing leads to four bedrooms and a family bathroom with shower and bath. The master bedroom has an ensuite shower room. The bunk beds and cabin beds in bedrooms 3 and 4 are all adult sized. The house comes fully equipped for a family holiday, as a family of 6 ourselves, we know that the space works well for large gatherings, when friends and family come to stay. The communal areas are large enough for everyone to be together, (with seating for 10 around the extended kitchen table), yet there are enough separate living spaces to allow people to get some peace. The large garden has play equipment for children and a hidden den with small firepit. For rainy days we have plenty of toys, games, puzzles, lego and DVDs to keep little ones entertained. Pets are welcome. We have a high chair and travel cot available on request. There is off road parking space for at least 4 cars and we can arrange for secure undercover storage for bikes if you give us advanced notice. We also supply all the logs you will need for the wood burners.
The house is perfectly situated in central Scotland. We are right on the edge of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park but also only 45 minutes drive from Glasgow, 30 minutes to Stirling and 1 hours drive from Edinburgh. There are a variety of woodland and riverside walks right from the door and excellent mountain walks nearby. The Carron Valley mountain bike trails are a 15 minute drive away. We can advise on any walking, running and biking routes. We can also provide maps. For the more adventurous Go Ape is a 15 minute drive away in Aberfoyle along with Go Country Adventure based at Loch Ard which organises gorge walking, canoeing and climbing. If you book at Christmas you could visit Santa's Woodland Experience (booking essential) which is only 5 minutes drive away. In summer they offer woodland and fairy trails. Balfron is a lovely village with Co-op, petrol station, butchers, bakers, gift shop, post office, coffee shop, fish and chips, Indian restaurant, Chinese takeaway, recently developed kids park, swimming pool and scenic 18 hole golf course.
  • We had a great week, very well placed and nice accommodation, with all the necessary equipment. Impeccable cleanliness and no problem to access housing. We strongly advise future guests.

  • We had a fabulous stay in Torran House. A lovely touch with a welcome pack and lots of tips of where to go. This house is so well equipped for families. A full play room with table football, darts, cars and Lego. The kids bedrooms and beds are lovely. The kitchen diner area was a lovely space for us to eat and chat as a wider family and the outside play area kept them amused for hours. Rebecca and Luci are great at communicating with you and make your stay easy. Thanks!

  • What a fantastic couple of weeks our family spent at Torran House! Balfron was a wonderful home-base for us, close to family and friends as well as locations on our sightseeing list. We felt right at home and everyone (6 of us) had their own favorite spots. The view, wow! Truly stunning no matter the weather. So many great memories made, thanks for sharing Torran House with our family!

  • Rebecca's home was fantastic. A great space for a large family group, there was enough room for everyone to have their own space and do their own thing while at the same time having a wonderful communal area where we could all sit and eat together or play games. The wood burners made the place wonderfully cosy while the views of the campsie fells were absolutely stunning. Rebecca was very communicative before we arrived in order to make sure we had everything we needed for our stay. The town is lovely with a supermarket, butchers and bakers all within walking distance. I would highly recommend Torran house and look forward to going back in the future.

A brilliant location for exploring central Scotland, we are half an hour from Stirling, 10 minutes from Loch Lomond, 10 minutes from Finnich Glen (Devils Pulpit) where Parts of Outlander were filmed, 40 minutes from Glasgow and an hour from Edinburgh airport (by car). In the village there is an Indian Restaurant (the Saffron), a coffee shop that is open during the day and on a Friday evening only (Doyles), a bakers, there is also a CoOp, newsagent, greengrocer and a pretty gift shop (Wonderland) which Alice owns and runs. There are many other restaurants in nearby villages such as Fintry, Drymen, Killearn, Kippen and Lake of Menteith
  • Alice and Matthew are among the nicest hosts I ever had. They were very attentive, enquiring about my wishes and needs and offering extra service at no cost. When I arrived Alice waited for me on the curb. They offered advice on what to do (and there is lots of course, in Scotland), provided everything promised and were extremely kind. On the last morning, Matthew even drove me to the bus stop. Highly recommended. Thank you so much for your outstanding welcome.

  • Wonderfully accommodating, kind and generous hosts. The room is lovely with a great shower and the porridge for breakfast was outstanding. Also it’s a fantastic location to head into the Scottish countryside and not far from Glasgow and Edinburgh either. Highly recommend!

  • A lovely quiet position. Absolutely immaculate bathroom. Hosts went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Great breakfast, more than just a piece of toast offered elsewhere.

  • Alice's place felt like a home away from home. Always smelling like freshly cooked meals and a wonderful warmth to the whole room area. I didn't want to leave! She was so helpful and hospitable we felt more like roomates than anything else. The only sad thing was that we didn't stay longer. I really enjoyed my stay with her. She always helped with anything she could and was so helpful regarding any transportation issues. Thanks Alice for making my trip a memorable one!

  • Everything has been perfect. Alice and Matthew warmly welcomed us to their home. The room is clean and comfortable with a large bathroom and private modern toilet. The breakfast was very good. Alice gave us some good tips for visiting the area. I recommend this B & B. We were delighted with our stay.

  • This was my second time staying with Alice, and likely won't be our last. Alice is a fantastic host, even if she isn't physically around for the weekend her communication is quick and reliable. She also includes small but extremely thoughtful touches for her guests. Would highly recommend staying here.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Honey Holm. Although we unfortunately did not get a chance to explore the scenic surrounding countryside because of the Scottish weather, we had the fire on and found plenty of games and books around the cottage to keep us entertained. The cottage is very clean and the hosts are very responsive in communication. Would definitely recommend.

  • Great stay at Ian’s country home. Very clean, tidy and perfect for a cosy weekend. The hot tub was great, made even better by the amazing views. Ian was very accommodating and made us feel at home - the scones on arrival were a perfect touch! Would definitely recommend.

  • Can’t think of a better start to the New Year. Endless good things at Honeyholm. Kids loved the play area and hot tub, views are gorgeous, dog-friendly, and totally useable amenities in the house. Ordered groceries for delivery from Waitrose and took full advantage of the kitchen. We came without a car from Glasgow (train from Oxford) and although there were a few hiccups with the taxi, we were perfectly happy staying around the house for several days. Nice walks and scenery around the roads and wandered down the riverside. Ian was a consummate host. Even while on vacation with his own family, made sure that we had all information needed and stayed in contact. Very understanding with the taxi issue and made sure we were comfortable while waiting. We were all sad to leave and hope to visit again soon!

  • Lovely place to spend the weekend with very friendly and thoughtful hosts. Highly recommend.

    Alex2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place, the personal touches were so thoughtful. The place is spotless, there were 6 of us and the dog and there was more than enough room. The walks, hot tub, log fire, hospitality, views, the list goes on and on about what we enjoyed about this place. Ian was an amazing host and nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get away from it all- we will definately be back

    Nicola2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much Ian for your hospitality. You are most defiantly a 5 * host with the best scones around. Beautiful location, lovely personal touches. Host that goes above and beyond and we couldn’t have picked a better spot to get ready for our wedding. Thank you for walking and watching movies with our dog who was made so welcome. Will defiantly be back!

  • Jo's house was the perfect fit for our family group over New Years. The accommodation was very flexible in terms of bed layout and the communal areas were very comfortable. There was good information on the local area provided by Jo and she was very quick to respond to any questions we had. Highly recommended.
