  • Great space, great hosts. Thanks very much!

    Bernard2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Sara and Peter are the most amazing hosts! Highly recommend staying with them. Thank you guys.

    Adam2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very Nice farmstay with surprise: beautiful walk to the mountaintop with Peter and farmvisit. Had dinner and breakfast together with Peter and Sara. Very nice conversations and great hospitality.

    Adrie2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • With Sara and Peter you feel at home from the first contact and this feeling remains even when you are visiting. They integrate their guest into their home and those who feel like it can even milk or ride with cows. The house is beautiful, the room spacious. The bathroom and toilet are shared by the guests (we were two of us). There is an excellent breakfast and if you want you can have dinner in the evening for a small fee. All in all, highly recommended accommodation.

  • My wife and I have been staying at airBNB for over a month in Australia and New Zealand and can honestly say this was the most enjoyable stay we’ve had, and we have had some very delightful stays. They took charge immediately in helping us feel comfortable on their hobby farm. The bedroom and private bath in a quiet country atmosphere was perfect for this Kansas farm couple, with REAL awesome food. We were delighted in seeing all the animals they tend to and sharing stories about each other’s children. Sara let us help feed many of the critters and Peter brought out his wonderful telescope for a great view of the moon. If you don’t care to interact with your hosts, and be made to feel like family, don’t stay here. I give them a perfect 10 on all counts.

    Janice2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • You couldn't get more friendly hosts. We felt like we had known Peter and Sarah for years and were encouraged to use the house as our own. Great to meet Spike the goat, Cleo, Bailey and all other farm animals in such lovely surroundings.

    Robert2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • The best Airbnb experience I have ever had, cross my heart. Both Sara and Peter are kind, warm, open and fun. I had such a great time even though I only stayed for one night. They really do everything to make you feel at home. Definitely will come back though ;)

WELCOME!! Rustic, rural and relaxing is our goal for you. We are happy to provide a double bedroom with a queen size bed and a separate lounge/kitchenette with microwave and fridge. We are situated directly opposite the Dargaville Field Days site, and are two minutes from the main shopping centre. Bayly's Beach is a mere 14kms from us and Tane Mahuta in the Waipoua Forest beckons as does the Kai-Iwi Lakes and the rest of Northland. ENJOY!!
We have a four bedroom home, 2 of which we are happy to provide for your comfort. There is a separate toilet and an aged bathroom with some modern touches for your use. We live rurally on the edge of town, so we get the best of both worlds. Peace and tranquility, yet the freedom knowing we don't have to go far for shopping, doctor etc. We are more than happy for you to wander around the section and help yourself to some fruit whilst walking around.
It is a quiet neighbourhood with just a little road noise, but nothing of any consequence.
  • Lesley and her family were great hosts. They are friendly, but mindful of respecting guests' privacy, and provided some useful tips to me on walks in the area. The accommodation is spacious and clean, and has a green outlook over fruit trees and a lawn. Despite being on the state highway you do not hear any traffic noise because the bedroom and living area are at the back of the property. I enjoyed wandering in the garden, and being able to pick the odd bit of fruit from the trees! Thanks for a great stay

    Danielle2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed in Lesley and Maurice's place for 2 nights. Lesley and Maurice are great hosts, they welcomed me and showed me around the house when I got there. The house is divided in 2 parts, one for them and one for the guests. I had the whole guest section for me, so it was really great. The place was super clean, extra pillows and blankets. Also, private access. Lesley's house is located very close to the centre, I would say it's walking distance. I was really busy when I went to Dargaville, so unfortunately, I couldn't spend much time with the hosts, but the last day we had a really good and friendly chat and I can tell you that these guys have a big heart. I'm sure you will enjoy your stay at Lesley and Maurice's place, and if what you are after is privacy this is the place for you as they will respect that 100% Have a great time in Dargaville and surroundings.

    Natalia2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley and Maurice are very nice and helpful people! The place is awesome and close to the city center. You have your own area but Lesley is always available if you need anything. I can highly recommend this place and would definitely stay there again!

  • I had an excellent stay here in Dargaville. The room(s) were private and very comfortable. The house is only a short 2 minute drive from town and the hosts were very friendly. There was also a nice private, small living room for breakfast and tv, etc. Recommended to all.

Lovely, modern, spacious self-contained ground floor apartment. 5-minute walk to the awe-inspiring Ripiro beach, the longest driving beach in NZ. New queen bed and bathroom, fully equipped kitchenette, wi-fi. 12 minutes from Dargaville's shops and restaurants. The perfect base for exploring Kai Iwi Lakes, the ancient Kauri forest (40 min), etc. Friendly hosts Gary & Yoko will ensure your privacy. Note: we have two young children who are well trained but occasionally make a bit of noise.
The perfect place to wind down after a day exploring the changing landscape of the 100km driving beach: just open the windows and hear the sea roar, or chill out in the sheltered outdoor area. Spacious one bedroom (with new queen bed) and living room/kitchenette with large fridge, lots of kitchenware, washing machine, fully self-contained. There's ample parking out front, easy access to apartment, TV, wi-fi, new single sofa bed. Local takeaways/general store Sharky's is a 5-minute walk. Note: single sofa bed in the living room suitable for children only. Note: there is no view of sea from the apartment itself.
Baylys is a small, friendly beach community that attracts everyone from passionate fishers to artisans and professionals, many of whom work in Dargaville. Like much of the West Coast of NZ, it's free of the commercial trappings of tourism, and retains its old-fashioned charm.
  • Unfortunately, I spent only one night in this wonderful stay. It‘s a very nice place and I was really happy, that this lovely and helpful family shares her home with guests. Thank you very much, Gary, for your invaluable tips, not only the good coffee bars! I could also enjoy a beautiful sunset after a few minute-walk to the part of the 107 km long beach. Don‘t miss it, when you are here.

    Helga2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Gary welcomed us personally and gave us some great tips about walks etc. The apartment was spotlessly clean and everything we needed was catered for...loads of space and bright and airy with a very comfortable bed! A great position for both access to the beach and also to visit Sharky’s Restaurant in the evening. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return again.

  • If you crave tranquility, slowing down, and glorious sunsets over unending beaches (just down the road) this place is for you. Gary and Yoko are marvellous hosts, and add simple touches that made our stay in the roomy self-contained lovely. This is a cabin a bit like a tiny home- we have lived here comfortably with our two children and ourselves. It feels a bit like camping but in style- with warm shower and kitchen to cook your own meals. You’re situated on our bare section outlooking into paddocks with sheep and other stock.
You can use all of the cabin and driveway space.

Quiet rural location with spectacular sea views and sunsets. Large modern home with spacious rooms. Natural swimming pool with native gardens. Walk to the sand dunes and beach through farmland. Kauri forest 59km north. Kai Iwi lakes - 41km.
Private rural area with farm and sea views. Beautiful sunsets.
  • This place is in an extraordinarily beautiful spot with distant sea views yet still hear the surf crashing on the beach at night. The venue is a bit isolated but the hospitality is outstanding and we highly recommend it to those who love out of the way places.

    Graham2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at Margaret’s beautiful home was fantastic. It is a really stylish house and the bedroom and en-suite were spacious with a comfortable bed and lovely bed linen. Margaret offered a delicious meal in the evening with vegetables from her garden. It made for a very relaxing evening after a few days of tiring driving. Highly recommended!

    Mary2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • You won't be disappointed with your stay with Margaret and Neil. Everything was excellent including the evening meal we opted for as an extra.

    Roger2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended. This is a true BnB, where Neil and Margaret welcome every guest and make it a true”home away from home” experience.

    Chas2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful modern house with great gardens. And what a shed! Awesome rock pool which sadly I didn’t try. Margaret and Nils (along with their daughter who was visiting) were extremely friendly, accommodating and invited me to share in an evening meal. Nils showed me a great walk round the beach head and through the neighbouring fields which was just what I needed after having sat on a bike for hours. Can’t recommend this place highly enough

    Allan2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Unforgettable experience with a reasonable cost. Margaret and Neil are so friendly and great that make our journey special. Highly recommend you stay their farm to explore the NZ west coast attractions.

    Shawn2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Margaret And Neil’s place is a slice of paradise. They are both awesome hosts and make being in their house a breeze. We loved the breakfast and coastal walks with natural pool swims. Really good space for those working too.

We live in the middle of nowhere If you like quiet you will love it here. Although we heard a car go past two days ago. We have 93 acres with Native forest, chickens / cattle / calves and the cutest little Kune Kune pigs you'll ever meet. We have the privilege of sharing our home with a succession of puppies mostly Labradors; all of whom are Blind Foundation guide dog in training. And we are all ruled over with the Iron Claw of our SPCA rescue cat Ebony
We only take one booking per day so whether there is one, three or five of you, you will have the entire ground floor of our home for your use. Including your own bathroom with a Spa bath. In the land of the Hobbits, home of the bungy jump and the jet boat; here is your chance to spend a night or two doing nothing, Refresh, Relax, Reflect, coffee on the deck, beer in front of the fire, wine in a candle lit bath or picnic under the trees. We offer you the opportunitty to do nothing and all the equipment you need to do it.
Green and quiet we have by the bucket load we are in the middle of nowhere and offer a great opportunity to do nothing. Sunsets, walks, mountain bike rides, picnics in the trees and star gazing (sometimes) with the kiwi is about as hard out as we go. The Matakohe Kauri Museum is a place we are all very proud of and is well worth the visit. The Paparoa Village Farmers Market on Saturday morning is where we shop. The Thirsty Tui also in Paparoa Is our local Pub. We are constantly working our way through their seasonal menu. We usually have a late lunch or early dinner on our way home from the markets.
  • Perfect farm land getaway!

  • This place is amazing! The hospitality was so good! We had a very nice diner, the best chicken pie! And also the breakfast with choice of eggs, pancakes and bread was very good! They have a lovely dog!

    Anouk2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • I would like to thank Ross, Kim & their lovely dog Marry for their hospitality. We enjoyed our time and we felt like home. Location is easy to find and it is middle of no where, which is what we wanted. It is surrounded by nature and it’s very peaceful. If you are looking for a getaway outside town then it’s a best place to visit. Our Dog TinTin is missing Marry and he is sad that he had to leave everyone and go back home. I highly recommend to stay with Ross & Kim & Marry as they are really good host. I enjoyed my time with them more than anything ! If you love bit of humour then Ross is your man. Thank you Ross & Kim 😀, hope to see you again.

Situated in the middle of our family's working dairy farm, this space is the perfect place to unwind. 100% powered by our off-grid solar power system. Enjoy gorgeous view of river, sea and farmland from bed! Includes a kitchen with two burner gas stovetop, microwave, toaster, kettle, plus a BBQ, and of course private bathroom. Free wifi is provided. A lovely rural retreat to unwind in or use as a base to explore Pouto Peninsula, Ripiro Beach, Kai Iwi Lakes and Northland's hidden treasures.
Enjoy a queen bed with super comfy mattress (people who stay want to take it home!), organic cotton sheets and quality bedding. A couch which pulls out into a futon Queen bed is also available - let us know if you plan to use it so we can pop out some extra bedding. The room best suits two guests - as all beds are in one space it can feel a little crowded when sofa bed is pulled out - but can accomodate up to 4 if you wish. Please let us know if you require a porta-cot or need anything extra provided if travelling with a baby or children. The cottage has its own bathroom- shower, toilet. Kitchen has a fridge (with a jug of farm fresh milk provided), two-burner gas stove top, toaster, kettle, microwave, toasted sandwich maker, plus fresh UV-filtered spring water on tap. We have a gas BBQ set up and available for cooking on patio if weather is good! The cottage is located next to our house - at the end of garage, private, but close to us if you need anything. 10 minutes drive to Glinks Gully and the beach or you can walk through our family farm - it's a stunning walk with amazing views and approximately 3km to the beach (30-40 minute walk down, 45 minute walk back up the hill!). There are plenty of other farm walks you can take too. We are completely powered by solar panels - 100% off grid. We have chooks and honey bees on our property, (and sometimes other animals!) and are surrounded by the family dairy farm. Our family's cows start calving in mid March (we Autumn calve and cows milk once a day in the morning) - if you are keen to see the calves let us know! Please feel free to forage and eat from our organically grown vegetable gardens, which are next to the cottage and on the front lawn. Heater is installed to keep you nice and toasty in the winter; all windows have fly screens so you can catch the summer breeze. Enjoy the good life, off-grid, on farm. Follow us on Instagram @thehiddennorth #hiddennorthnz
We live on a costal dairy farm so it's a pretty neat location. Our property is 30 minutes south of Dargaville on the Poutu peninsula - Tasman Sea on one side, Northern Wairoa River on the other. We are approximately 10 minutes drive from Glinks Gully/Ripiro beach (car access right to beach), or a 30-40 minute walk through our farm to Ripiro beach. It's a 49 minute drive to the superb Kai Iwi Lakes, a 40 minute drive from Tokatoka peak (an excellent little climb!) and 80 minutes from Tane Mahuta. Dargaville's excellent maritime museum is 30 minutes drive, Matakohe Kauri Museum is 60 minutes.
  • If you want to switch off, in a "Our little farm" / "Doll kitchen atmosphere", you have to go here. An extremely lovingly arranged accommodation that could also be found in "beautiful living". The hosts are very helpful. Even if you can already hear the kids great, the pain limit is not reached. I felt very comfortable, even if only for 1 night. Clear recommendation!

    Andreas2020-02-21T00:00:00Z

  • Breathtaking bedroom with private entrance to our room and an en suite. There are countless details everywhere in & around the home. It truly is in stunning. We loved that Sharon offered us use of all amenities and couldn't have been more hospitable, even letting us put a couple things in the firdge. You feel like you're in your own home. She's done the painting and decorating herself which makes the place inspiring & enchanting. The views from the garden are awesome. Plus the sheep & goat in the Olive grove add to the character and ambience.

  • we spent 3 nights here and have been camping and doing airbnb throughout our trip. Diane and Arthur's place was clean and well set up for 3 people - tight for 4. the place is all on one level and so would be accessible for someone with a walker but would be tight for wheelchairs. Diane greeted us with fresh eggs and both Diane and Arthur answered all our questions. we had lots of questions about the fruit that was growing and Diane gave us a complete tour. This airbnb was good value for people travelling like we travel. They have added a covered deck since the picture was taken - a lovely place for eating meals.

Handy location to Whangarei City (22 min), and great for day trips to nearby beaches such as Whangarei Heads, Ruakaka and Dargaville. Get in some fishing at Marsden Point as well where you can also check out the refinery.
Come home afterwards to relax on the deck, and enjoy the sunset and stargazing.
Our guesthouse is situated in a private valley with amazing views surrounding the area.
  • What a lovely little place to stop on our way to Whangarei. Hosts were very helpful and understanding with our uncertainty of check in time. Lovely surroundings and waking up to animals in the field was pretty cool. We ventured out once it was dark and sat on the front step of the house and just watch the stars, with the area being rural and no artificial light we were so lucky to have a clear night and to eleven see a beautiful display of the Milky Way 🙂 Hosts we’ve helpful with tips before we got there about water supply and local supermarkets, good all round accommodation and amenities, would highly recommend

  • A slice of Paradise! Views were wonderful. We loved how the cabins wrapped around the hillside connected by the decks ... surrounded with stunning gardens and native trees. We were attending a wedding nearby, but really didn’t want to leave. It’s the best thing about Airbnb, going to places that are created with love. Thanks Greg. Also the wedding was fantastic!

We highly recommend this airbnb.

  • The place was SO beautiful. We couldn’t believe the views and how peaceful everything was. All you can hear is birdsong, cicadas and the wind as you look out across the landscape. Squeak the cat was a lovely little companion as well.

  • This is a huge Airbnb, there is so much space and some great garden space with 14 areas to sit and have a cup of tea outside. The house is very comfortable. It is a little outside Dargaville so I would recommend taking food and drink with you from there if you want to stay in at home.

    Becky2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • We’ve stayed at quite a few holiday houses around New Zealand over the years and as a result, our list of things we look for has gotten quite long. Sharon’s place ticked every single box. It was clean, tidy, and well equipped: it had everything we needed for our stay and then some. Every room and space was beautifully decorated so it felt home-y but not like you were staying in someone else’s house, the best of both worlds. We stayed four nights here with four adults and had ample space in terms of bedrooms, bathrooms, shared spaces, cooking and dining spaces, outdoor areas and parking. It would easily and comfortably accommodate six. The surprising highlight of the stay was Pepper the goat: she was always bounding up to meet us and full of tricks and personality. Sharon’s communication was always prompt and friendly, every question we had was answered within minutes. We cannot fault anything about this place and highly recommend it to other visitors.

    Judit2020-01-06T00:00:00Z

Built over 100 years ago, you will be experiencing an authentic Kiwi bach getaway. Owned by the same family for that time, Crow’s Nest reflects its, and their, history - it is rustic and basic but with everything that you need for a Kiwi holiday. No internet or Tv. Overlooking the Ocean this is the perfect place to get away from it all.
Situated high above the beach, it is a short walk (2 mins) down a track to the west coast sands of Baylys Beach where you can walk for miles without seeing another person. The views are expansive and you will love watching the setting sun while sitting at the dining table – keep an eye out for the legendary green flash just as the sun slips below the horizon on a clear night! The bach consists of 2 bedrooms, an open plan living/dining area (with an open, non-working fireplace), the kitchen and a bathroom. One bedroom has a double bed and the other has a queen size bed plus a single. The bathroom is newly painted and includes a bath with a stand in shower. The kitchen is well stocked with glasses, plates, utensils and pans, plus all the other bits and pieces you might require (including a microwave, toaster, kettle and blender) – although Sharkey’s takeaways up the road have great burgers and fish & chips if you can’t be bothered cooking! If it’s a warm night, you can eat outside on the picnic table overlooking the beach, or in the more sheltered back area by the kitchen door. There is no TV or internet (or phone) although you can get mobile reception, but the bach is stocked with books (please leave behind) and games for you to pass the time with. Use this as an opportunity to truly unplug – come away for a weekend and you will feel that you have been away for a week!
You can use this as a base for many activities, including: - Walking and Hiking Trails: https://www.doc.govt.nz/search-results/?query=dargaville - Explore the second hand shops in Dargaville, filled with treasures from yesteryear - Visit the Dargaville museum and see the masts of the Rainbow Warrior - Drive your 4-wheel drive car along Ripiro beach at low tide – and gather mussels at the north bluff - Spend a day at the freshwater Kai Iwi Lakes - Walk amongst the Kauri trees at Trounson Kauri Park and Waipoua Forest - Ride horses along the beach on a horse trek - Try your luck at west coast fishing – bring your casting rod, your torpedo or your drone and see if you can bag a snapper or two - Practice your surfing at Chases Gorge (with the lifesavers there – be aware this is a West Coast beach with strong surf and rips) - Walk the cliffs on a marked walk between Baylys and Chases - Play Golf on the Public Course near by ( see Guide Book on this site for more suggestions and contacts)
  • Absolutely spectacular little bach, we could tell there had been a lot of love and happiness in that house before us. Perfect location for us as the wedding was at the bottom of the path down to the beach. Very much appreciated and will hopefully be back one day, many thanks Katie, Seb & Rob

    Naomi2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely quiet place tucked up against the beach, with a homely feel and a beautiful view. Perfect as a getaway for a day, or a couple of weeks.

    Thomas2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem of a find this traditional old bach is. The views are amazing and internally very comfortable. Obviously a much loved family treasure it retains an essentially New Zealand charm.

    Doug2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect spot to just unwind and get away from it all! Beautiful little family batch with awesome history! Loved it, will definitely visit again.

    Matt & Halina2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Bliss. It's hard to put into words how restoring this trip was. It was like stepping back in time 100 years, but with the mod-cons. Looking over Baylys Beach, on NZ's wild west coast with crashing surf and sheer cliffs, the bach had everything you need and excluded the things you don't need - wifi and a tv. Such a rejuvenating retreat.

    Jamie2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic and rustic - shouldn't say it was a bargain in case they put the price up but it was! Only downside : 2 days not enough, only got a 1/3rd of the way through a jigsaw :)

    Ally2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • What an absolutely magical spot to have been able to have spent the weekend- thank you! A humble cottage steeped in history and clearly the conduit to fantastic memories for the family who own it, and now also me. As I lay in bed on the last night (listening to the ‘white noise’ of the waves breaking on the beach) - I jumped on to see what other dates Crows Nest was free for my next digital detox weekend. Thanks again, nothing more I could have hoped for (except maybe for cell reception to have not worked, so I was forced cold turkey off my phone! #workaholic )

Fancy a round of golf, a leisurely stroll on the beach or just some quiet and tranquility nestled against an avocado orchard? You will find it all at the Baylys Coast Bed and Breakfast You can stay for two nights or more and take a few hours to visit some of the many Northland tourist destinations. Baylys Beach is part of the stunning Ripiro Beach on the west coast of Northland, New Zealand, extending from Pouto Peninsula in the south to Maunganui Bluff in the north. At 66 miles (107km) long it is the longest driveable beach in New Zealand, longer than the more famous, but erroneously named Ninety Mile Beach further north. It is straight, and backed by high sand dunes for most of this length. The beach incorporates the coastal settlements of Baylys Beach, Glinks Gully and Omamari. It is the site of numerous shipwrecks, with 113 recorded between 1839 and 1994. Visitors find the unpopulated beach idyllic for fishing, and walking. If you are interested in spotting a Kiwi at night, Quad bike hire, horse treks, rail tours or Pouto Lighthouse sand dune tours please let us know and we can help you contact the correct people for these activities. With Dargaville only 10 minutes away there are many options for eating out and there is also a large Countdown supermarket if you wish to cook in the unit, where you will find everything you need to cook a meal. Baylys Beach also has Sharkeys which make the most yummy gourmet burgers as well as general takeaways. Very nice to take down to the beach and watch the sunset on a nice evening.
  • Stayed here on a business trip Dargaville and loved it! Very spacious, clean, fast WiFi, and only minutes from Baylys Beach. Would highly recommend this place to a group traveling together.

  • A lovely place only a five minute drive to the beach. Very clean and plenty for brekky. The food at Sharkys is really nice and good value

    William2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Fast and friendly communication from Jayne and Sean. The place was comfortable, private, and close to the beach (though also close to the road, so passing vehicles are quite loud if you have the windows open). The book of suggested activities was comprehensive and really helpful. The best part was the avocados for sale just metres from the door! A very friendly pup is on the property, and we had fun watching the wild turkeys. The kitchen is quite well stocked, including a coffee machine, toaster, toaster oven, electric hobs, and electric frypan. Breakfast is continental (if avocados are in season - put some on your toast!). This place would be great for a couple (like us) or a family looking for a beach or west coast break.

    Wendy Jade2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • We wanted to visit Kai Iwi Lakes but are not into camping, so this place was perfect. It is less than 30 minutes drive from Kai Iwi Lakes and 10 mins from Dargaville, which made it convenient for us to get food/supplies. It is a lovely walk through the orchard - the kids loved the chickens, avocado trees, and swans at the dam. The view from there was stunning in the evening light. Having cold water and milk in the fridge when we arrived in the middle of summer was such a nice gesture. Thank you Jayne & Sean for your amazing hospitality!

  • What a delightful place to stay and what enchanting and warm-hearted hosts in Siggy and Olaf. Beautiful natural surroundings and so easy to relax and feel away from it all. A perfect base for a few days from which to explore the local forests, lakes, beaches etc, all of which are magnificent. You need to bring your own provisions (unless you want to eat in the local pub) but the cooking facilities are more than adequate. Spotlessly clean and some lovely little touches. If you like places that are off the beaten track and a little bit different, this little 2 room cabin is perfect. And you couldn't hope for more engaging and helpful hosts. Thank you Siggy and Olaf, we hope we get a chance to come back.

  • This is a beautiful place to stay with excellent facilities. It is off the beaten track so you need a vehicle with a g.p.s. to find it. Ngaire is very welcoming, friendly and helpful and the area is gorgeous. The views from the chalet are wonderful. Wi Fi access in the chalet isn't good but you can go to the main house or just outside it if you need access. Having said that, it's great to be away from social media, emails and television so this is really a rural retreat as advertised.

    Fran2018-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Special place in a secluded area. It was a convenient, restful location from the Kai Iwi lakes and Dargaville town. Ngaire has put in a lot of thought in presenting the chalets, including our special breakfast basket and chocolate treat! The place is ultra tidy and the location very quiet, presenting a wonderful backdrop for the singing birds. We hope we get a chance to visit them again in the future.

My home is nestled among the trees on a hill overlooking a verdant , Tuscanesque landscape. It is a rural rustic retreat in French/Moroccan style, where you can sit and relax on the shady verandah or under the trees in the Moroccan courtyard with al fresco dining, or enjoy the outdoor fire beneath the stars in the evenings. The is an ample covered deck outside the kitchen . Play area for children with a swing and sandpit. The garden is organic and is enjoyed by many native birds.
4 bedroom , 3 double , one single. With an extra high single airbed. Light and airy house opening to the outdoors all around. Its an interesting, unique home and garden with many vintage and up cycled features. Covered verandah and moroccan courtyard with open fire for al fresco dining. With alternative covered entertaining areas with a gorgeous view of the rolling valley below. A play area for children with a swing and sandpit. With a well equipped large country kitchen which opens on to a covered deck overlooking a stunning ,dreamy view. All bedrooms , which are quite large have French doors ,all beds have good quality linen and extra blankets are supplied. All beds have electric blankets. Please ALWAYS turn them off before getting into bed , and when going out. With a bath and shower in the bathroom. WATER My only source of water is from the rain - please always conserve water and take economical showers in summer when rainfall is less frequent, the bath is reserved for private use only , or bathing small children. There is plenty of hot water supplied by a gas califont. The shower works well , and as pressure can fluctuate , there are instructions in the bathroom for the optimum operation of the shower. Very straightforward and easy, there is ALWAYS enough hot water for everyone if the instructions for shower function are followed. :) I just don't have enough water to waste it. Two toilets, one upstairs and one downstairs. My home is both rural and rustic , and as such it won't be slick and soulless like a hotel, and there may be a few critters who wander in and out, and when the season allows it is constantly being renovated , upgraded and improved for greater comfort of guests. There a cosy open fire in the lounge for use during the colder months. There are also heaters in the house. PLEASE DO NOT GO OUT OR TO BED AND LEAVE HEATERS ON !! There are lovely gardens to enjoy, with an outdoor bath in the pipeline, and many different outdoor spaces to enjoy. The bedroom windows have wooden shutters which are great for controlling the light coming in. The decor is an eclectic mix of French rustic and Moroccan with vintage touches throughout with interesting pieces of up cycled and antique furniture. There is a very friendly small dog on the property, a Jack Russell. He is with me in my tiny house while my house is rented.
My home is set in a peaceful rural setting, it has complete privacy and seclusion. There are many interesting daily excursions available in the area. I am central to the ancient Waipoua kauri forest and Kai Iwi lakes and Matakohoe kauri museum , Whangarei falls and pristine beaches. About an hour north of Whangarei are the Puketi kauri forest near Kerikeri, and the Bay of Islands. Whangarei, which is 20 minutes away has a lovely marina and many great cafes and restaurants around it, with a loop walk that takes in the waterfront . Bicycles and canoes can be hired near the marina.

  • Really cool rustic house out in the hills of northland. Loved the character of the place and the chance to get out of the city into a nice quiet area. House was really tidy and beautiful presented on arrival and Tania was there to support us with anything we needed. Would definitely stay again if we got the chance!

  • This house is beautifully presented in a stunning setting with lovely outdoor sitting and eating areas. The garden is amazing and there is a stunning view of the stars at night as there is no light pollution. Everything was there to make our stay comfortable and we saw and heard plenty of wildlife. The description of the accommodation is really accurate and the location, just 25 minutes drive (on a good road) from the city of Whangarei is perfect for anyone wanting a peaceful location with easy access to shops, restaurants etc.

  • We really enjoyed the beauty and tranquility of Tania’s home. The space had everything we needed and our 18mth old especially enjoyed playing in the sandpit and exploring the glorious garden. Waking up to the stunning views and smelling the sweet wisteria whilst having a hot cuppa on the deck was a real treat. Thanks Tania for your amazing hospitality!

  • Tania’s home is so beautiful. We were a group of 8 friends, and we all adored the cottage. There was plenty of space and a gorgeous fire which was lit for our arrival. All the beds had electric blankets and the kitchen was well equipped to make meals. Tania has decorated the house so well, and the little touches made our trip so special. Fresh jasmine and other flowers were in little jars and all the beds had beautiful linen and warm blankets. A cosy winter stay and would love to return in the summer!

  • Tanias place was magical and majestic. Everything we could ever want was there and it was warm and inviting. Her house decor was absolutely stunning and the whole vibe was very nice. Tania herself was very nice and accommodating, she made us feel very comfortable. We would definitely be going back :) thanks Tania

We have 1 bedroom available in a modern house, situated on a rural area on a life style block. Experience the tranquility of country living with hosts who love meeting new travelers. We have a variety of animals that you are welcome to socialize with. We have bees near the house.
  • Sara and Peter are truly amazing people! They provide absolutely the best Airbnb service . The room was very clean and bed was comfortable. The home cooked wholesome meal( most ingredients came from their garden) was delicious. They invited me for dinner and served fresh scallops which they caught from scuba diving that day! I was so impressed! I fed their animal with Sara, milked the cows with Peter! We climbed Kota Kota, and Peter taught me a lot about New Zealand flora. It was a wonderful New Zealand farm live experience!

  • Sara and Peter are the lovliest hosts. We had the most amazing time with them and are so thankful for everything. We only spent one night at their house but our son already said we have to come back. They are super friendly and the experiences are just absolutely amazing. From feeding animals to milking cows to climbing a mountain. And our dog Oscar loved the place too. HIGHLY recommended!

  • My partner and I decided to go on a quick one-day road trip without a destination in mind, we looked for a pet friendly place on AirBNB and Peter & Sara's place showed up. The hospitality is amazing, my dogs Taco and Loki were so happy playing with Bella while Peter took us exploring and sightseeing.

  • Sara and Peter are just great. It feels like home. I could meet so many animals and learn about farm life. I even experienced being in the middle of a swarm of bees. The food was just amazing and we had some nice talks at dinner. I definitely recommend to stay for 2 nights. You won’t regret it!
