  • We had a lovely stay at Pauline’s place. It has everything you need and more. A beautiful apartment with beautiful surrounding views. A great location close by to the main beautiful sights. Pauline is very friendly and accommodating, we felt really at home during our stay. Thank you for all of your kindness!

  • We really enjoyed our stay with Pauline. The house is perfect for four people. It is so cozy there and totally clean, bright and great furnishings. We really felt very comfortable. The direct view of the Morne Mountains is really fantastic ... You have everything you need there :) We would love to come back!

  • Lovely place to stay. Has an outdoor space where your dog is confined and safe. Pauline and Tony are very welcoming.

    Niall2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Pauline was a great host, very helpful and friendly. The accommodation was idea for us, plenty of space, clean and comfortable. We hope to visit again soon.

    Ryan2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Pauline’s place has stunning views that seem to change every time you look. It’s beautiful. The accommodation perfectly suited our small family and Pauline made sure our baby had a travel cot to sleep in. We were blown away by the amount of provisions we found on arrival - not just eggs, bread, milk and coffee but all the shampoos, deodorants, hair gels and shower cream you could need. The beds were really comfortable. As for location- as well as having the Mourne Mountains on your back garden, the beautiful Murlough Beach and stunning Silent Valley are short drives away. We will definitely be back.

    Paddy2020-02-27T00:00:00Z

The cottage is right on the shore. It is self contained with a kitchen area and small bathroom. The twin beds, on a mezzanine floor, can be hooked up to make a super king-sized bed. Guests will have access to the beach and a garden area. Parking is on site. Although there is no washing machine, I can wash clothes for guests in my house which is next door. I live next door and will interact with guests as much or as little as they wish. I am usually at home, but if I am travelling I will arrange for a neighbour to keep contact with my guests. Coney Island is between Ardglass and Killough. There are shops and restaurants in both. It is under an hour from Belfast and within sight of the Mourne Mountains and Newcastle. Ardglass has a golf course and there are lots of opportunities locally for walking, fishing and watersports. Public transport is limited, but possible. There is a bus from Dublin airport with a connection to Downpatrick. There is a bus from both Belfast airports with connections to Downpatrick, about six miles from Coney Island. If I am home I will pick up guests from Downpatrick. Taxi fare is around £10. I provide basic food for your first day...tea, coffee, milk, sugar, bread, butter, breakfast cereal, jam, salt, pepper, oil, vinegar. Basic toiletries are provided. The upper floor is accessible to able bodied adults and children, but would present problems to anyone with mobility problems. (See Pic)
  • This wee cottage is perfect for one or two people. It is right on the sea! The cottage itself has loads of lovely touches to let you know your on the beach. Alice was very nice and available as needed!

  • Great place to relax, enjoy the stunning sea views and explore the surroundings from. Very comfortable accommodation with thoughtful and stylish touches. Plus a super host!

    Airbnb-User2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful little cottage, small but has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Two single beds were a god send, no fighting over duvets or pillows with my other half, although be careful of the beam, I walked into it at least twice. Would definitely stay again!

    Hannah2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • 100% recommend booking with Alice ! We had everything we needed for a weeks holiday pre-baby arriving to refresh us. Really comfy beds and all the amenities you need for a self catering break, it’s a stunning location too (we enjoyed watching the sun set every night) and Alice was always on hand as needed offering tips and checking how we were, which made our stay even easier. Thank you for a fabulous holiday.

    Rebecca2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Even with a stormy weekend we were super cosy and warm. Second time staying, and can't rate Alice's cottage highly enough!

My place is close to restaurants and dining, family-friendly activities and art and culture. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families with or without children. If you love nature, beautiful walks and fishing then this would be an ideal location for you! Game of Thrones fans would also think it a good spot. Please note there is one bedroom with two double beds.
Quoile Cottage has real character and is a lovely space to relax in at any time of year. A short stroll across the road takes you to the Quoile River which is a very pleasant and easy walk for all ages. A short drive from the main town you can easily access all shopping and dining options or if you want to eat in there's plenty of places that do home deliveries. A really good base for a host of tourist attractions including Belfast, which is approximately a 35 minute drive off peak.
Right across the road from the Cottage is the beautiful Quoile River which is a great spot for walking or fishing. Kids love riding their bikes too. The town of Downpatrick is a short drive from the Cottage where you will find everything you need in the shopping department and plenty of eating establishments. There’s the beautiful Down Cathedral, the Down County Museum and the St Patrick Centre to name a few attractions within easy reach. A fifteen minute drive away in the other direction is Strangford where you will find lots of nice eating spots and the biggest Lough in Europe.
  • Absolutely lovely experience.

  • Toasty warm and historic. Very handy for Downpatrick.

    Hilary2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A great base for exploring the local area. Adam's cottage is spacious, clean and very well equipped ( and the downstairs bed was super comfy!)

    Louise2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great find in Downpatrick - hired the place for relatives for my sisters wedding - outstanding value, great hosts and lovely small touches Would highly recommend to anyone needing a base in the Downpatrick area - also a handy spot to get on the main road for a short drive to Belfast

    Sean2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great week here. The cottage adjoins the main farmhouse but is fully self-contained, with parking in the yard just outside the door. It's compact and cosy, decorated in a country style including some interesting-looking old farm equipment. Everything was clean and worked perfectly, and the kitchen/bathroom were well stocked (including various things I'd forgotten to bring). There are two double bedrooms connected by a staircase. The location is within easy driving distance of Downpatrick and Strangford. Adam is a great host and responded instantly to all messages. An excellent base for sightseeing in the Downpatrick area.

    Mandy2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great house. Was pleasantly surprised by the house and all it’s trimmings.

    James2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy, homely charm in a good location for visiting the local coastal towns and villages. Although on a busy junction this didn't disturb us and we happily recommend Quoile Cottage for its amenities and comfort for two.

    Ali2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • The small house of Adam is very comfortably furnished and has everything you need to feel good. We also had a very nice host with Adam. Also ample information material is intended, because the closer and further environment has much to offer. We can only recommend this accommodation.

  • This charming boathouse provided an exceptional venue for our stay in Portaferry. The property is charming, smart, and provides breathtaking views in an ideal location—at the end of the main thoroughfare where traffic was minimal, but town and the ferry were only a short walk up the Shore Road. Our host Caroline delivered the highest quality service, from communications and instructions to the gracious supply of staples the kitchen was stocked with when we arrived, every aspect of our stay delivered beyond expectations. We hope to visit again!

This is our study so it has built in desk furniture and of course that thing we all have and never use - a sad lonely cross trainer in the corner! The room has a very comfortable silent night double bed. The private bathroom is down the hall and has a bath. There is a shower attachment on the tap but it isn't wall mounted for standing showering.
  • Gayle is very friendly and helpful guest. Our room and bathroom was very clean and we felt comfortable. I recommend this place!

  • A nice place, just around the corner of the Dundrum castle. Kind hosts and cute dogs.

    Donna2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Gayle’s house is in a very nice location. The room and the house were very clean and we were provided with everything we needed, including local tips for good food! Communication was very good and easy.

    Alain2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Gayle and Christian were helpful (even though we were running late on check in and were holding them up from their dinner plans, Gayle helped us with restaurant suggestions and even called ahead to make a booking) and friendly. The bed was comfortable (very important for me!) and the bathroom was clean and spacious.

    Bryonie2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed a week at Gayle's place. The view from the ensuite is stunning. Gayle and her family are really nice people, easy to talk to, and they are helpful and know the area very well. The bed is really comfy and it's really really clean. I was struggling for a place to stay before finding a long term accommodation (for my internship) and I was very welcomed to stay and book a few other nights there. Dundrum is a quiet village, and it's easy to get to Newcastle and visit the Mournes. I would definitely stay at Gayle's place again, it felt like home and enlighted my trip! Thank you very much :)

  • Lewis’s Pebble Pod is a beautiful place to stay! The Pods are cosy and the kitchenette is well equipped, the complimentary Prosecco is a lovely touch too :) Having your own private jacuzzi is great and we actually prefer this to a night away at a resort like the Galgorm! Lewis was also very quick at responding to any queries we had and made a good takeaway recommendation (Killyleagh Catch) that we were able to collect on our way to the Pod and bring with us as it was only about 10 minutes away. Will 100% stay here again

    David2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Not one bad thing to say about our stay at the pebble pods. From prosecco on arrival, marshmallows for toasting at the fire pit, the cosiest pod and amazing hot tub we did not want to leave. Highly recommend!

    Hannah2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • An absolute 5 Star stay! Where do we begin?! We had an unbelievable stay at Lewis’ Pebble Pods. With yellow weather warnings for wind and rain communicated just days before our stay, we were apprehensive about whether we would get blown away or be warm enough. Our worries instantly disappeared the second we stepped inside the pod, which was insulated and extremely cosy. Upon arrival, Lewis greeted us with a bottle of prosecco and lots of recommendations about where to eat and what to do. After check in, we immediately jumped into the jacuzzi, overlooking the calm and serene lough. After a spin on a few kayaks, we walked along Ringhaddy road and it’s surrounding areas, soaking up the stunning country views, before heading back to the pods where Lewis had kindly lit the fire-pit and provided marshmallows for us to melt. The male and female shower and bathrooms were exceptionally clean and Lewis had left soap, body lotion, shampoo and conditioner for us to use. Our pod was complete with bathrobes, towels, a hairdryer, plenty of sockets, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, a fridge, microwave and a mini kitchenette. The location was extremely private with stunning Lough views that were illuminated by starry night skies and we can’t wait to come back again soon. Thanks Lewis!

  • Gorgeous cosy pods! 100% recommend. Very clean, lovely views, great host. Will definitely be back soon 🙂

  • I would definitely recommend pebble pods, Lewis was a fantastic host, met us on arrival and had everything set up and ready to go, with a bottle of prosecco to get us started. He wasn't intrusive and let us do our own thing, he lit the fire in the evening and left some marshmellows in the room that we could toast. The place was clean and quiet, the hot tub and sauna were amazing especially during the cold evening.

    Kathryn2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend. Each pod is so private and the hot tub under the stars was super relaxing.

    Bronwyn2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Super cosy pod. Very warm and comfortable. We booked really last minute, after the normal check in time, but Lewis was super quick to reply and confirm our booking and also super quick and helpful replying to any other Qs we had. He drove up to give us a bottle of prosecco once we'd arrived too - very thoughtful. Thanks for a lovely stay Lewis!

Fantastic position by the sea but within walking distance of the village of Dundrum which has some great restaurants and a cosy pub. The 2 bedroom cabin is simple but has everything you need. It is in it's own garden. Certified by Tourism NI.
Cosy comfy log cabin with a twin and a double bedroom. It has a small bathroom with a good shower. It has central heating which warms the house very quickly as well as a wood burning stove. There is an electric cooker and a washing machine. Outside is a large secure parking area and a spacious garden. The veranda gets the sun in the evening. Please note: as this is our chill-out zone there is no TV, just a DVD player. There is no broadband but you should be able to get 4G.
Fantastic location for beautiful walks. We are close to Murlough sand dunes and beach which is managed by the National Trust. We are about 3 miles from the Royal Down golf course for the Irish Open. We are on the outskirts of Dundrum, so within walking distance you have a great pub, wonderful restaurants, food shops, a huge car boot sale at the weekends, and of course the 12th century Norman Castle with its fabulous views. The Log Cabin Welcome to Dundrum! The log cabin is just behind the apartments on your right shortly after you enter Keel Point. Open the wooden gates at the back of the apartments and you are there! Hot water/heating: First turn on the red switch nearest to the kettle and toaster. Then open the tall cupboard and you will see the boiler. Turn the knob on the left once to the left, and then the heating should be on. You will get hot water in the taps and in the shower. If you need heat turn the radiators on individually. The instruction manual for the boiler is in the tall cupboard. Turn it off again when you have finished. The stove: The instructions are on the table. Please take care as the cabin is made of wood!! It can get very hot so is not often necessary in summer. The lawn: A caretaker will mow the lawn and tidy generally once a fortnight. Bins: Bins are collected on a Friday. Black bin – normal waste. Blue bin – paper, card, no glass. Dundrum Very small, just one main street. Has a pharmacy, two small basic shops – Spar and Brennan’s. Brennan’s also contains a post office. There is a major car boot sale every weekend at the far end of the town– everything from house clearance rubbish to antiques! But Dundrum is well known for its food. Eating out: Mourne Seafood Bar – you may be able to buy fresh seafood to cook yourself here also. (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Buck’s Head – very good food, slightly more formal setting. (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Dundrum Inn – (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Pub: Dundrum In (Website hidden by Airbnb) Gilroy’s – very cosy and friendly. Serves food until 8pm.l These restaurants are popular. You may need to book in advance, especially if the weather has been good. Coffee shops / lunch: The Blue Bay cafe is good for homemade soup and sandwiches for lunch. If you like animals, go to Paws for Tea! The National Trust runs a coffee shop at a car park on the sand dunes. It’s excellent – we can recommend it for lunch or a snack after a walk! (only open seasonally) Take away? Fish and chips at Bayside Catch. Any problems: Contact me at (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) or (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Food shopping: Supermarkets – Newcastle – Tesco and Lidl Downpatrick – Asda Best fruit and veg: Hales, Main Street, Newcastle Best butchers: I’m told that the butchers beside Hale’s is quite good although doesn’t take credit cards. But the best butcher’s locally is in Castlewellan, at the bottom of the square. Alcohol: There is a small off-licence attached to the Dundrum Inn. You will find a larger one on the main street in Newcastle. Things to do: Without the car: Murlough Beach, sanddunes: Leave the log cabin, turn right. Over the bridge you can either go left and go through the National Trust gates (free if you are walking) or straight ahead along the track. The beach is about 25 mins walk. You can walk all the way along the beach to Newcastle – about 1 and a half hours from the cabin. You could take the bus back! Dundrum Castle: Climb up the highest tower for great views – unlocked after 10.00am. Railway walk: From the cabin walk into Dundrum. Go to the edge of the water where the signpost says Greenbank . Keep following the coast and eventually after the playing fields you will get to the start of the old railway. Newcastle: Seaweed treatments (including seaweed bath) at the far end of the town. Very refreshing I am told! Maud’s icecream! Pubs – Quinn’s has Irish music on a Sunday evening 6 – 9pm. I’m not sure what the quality is like! Check the Tourist office for other Irish music events. And of course the Mournes – endless walks/climbs from here! For other trips I have left information in the cabin. The Log Cabin Welcome to Dundrum! • This is a lovely little log cabin that is just perfect for a cosy getaway. It was beautifully located, with the sea on one side of you and the Mourne mountains on the other. It's only a 5/10 minute walk to the lovely restaurants and pubs in Dundrum and about a 10/15 minute drive to Murlough Bay or the beautiful Mourne mountains. The cabin is warm and cosy and has everything you would need. Fionnuala was always very quick at responding and left us great tips of what we could do during our stay. I would definitely love to come back here again!

  • We loved our stay in the cabin, it was warm and cosy even with a big storm outside! It’s ideally located if you like to get out and about and explore scenic areas. The cabin had everything you’d need to cook/stay in on a wet evening. It’s also only a 5 mins walk to the nearest pub and the seafood bar has spectacular food! The blue bay cafe was lovely for some brunch too! Fionnuala was an excellent host! I’d definitely go back!

  • This was such a great place to stay and enjoy walks nearby and warm up by the fire on evening. We were all nice and cosy with the doggies

  • Very nice place, I came to Fionnuala twice and I'll come back again.

  • Has a great living space with an amazing log burner. The shower is so good it's hard to get out.

    Allan2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and my girlfriend were delighted with the cabin. It is exactly what we wanted. It heats up in no time and the fire makes it very cosy. It had everything we needed. The shower in particular is fab! The location is also fab, within walking distance of Dundrum Village and there are beautiful walks in the area. We walked all the way from the cabin to Murlough and down the strand to Newcastle. The weather was perfect which helped a lot :) Fionnuala is a great host and I would highly recommend!

Tollymore Gate Lodge, built in 1802 is tucked inside the Bryansford Gate of Tollymore Forest Park. Recently fully refurbished with a well equipped kitchen, comfortable parlour complete with wood burning stove, two spacious bedrooms with king size beds and open fires. Tollymore, previously the home of the Roden Family, lies amongst the northern foothills of the magnificent Mourne Mountains, long recognised as Northern Ireland’s best hillwalking destination.
The gate lodge has a sheltered garden with a sunny aspect which looks out onto the Mournes. Step out through the garden gate into more than 1,500 acres of magnificent parkland ideal for walkers of every ability. Alternatively, the park can be your starting point for exploring the Mournes. The Forest Park is one of the principle locations for the Game of Thrones HBO/SKY drama and GOT tour buses visit Tollymore daily. In strolling quietly through the wilder parts of the park you can encounter fallow deer, red squirrels, pine martens, magnificent red kites and birds of prey soaring overhead. Belfast author, CS Lewis, a frequent visitor to the park was so taken by its magic that he used it as a model for his “through the wardrobe” fantasy land of Narnia. His seven book collection, The Chronicles of Narnia has to date sold more than 100 million copies in 47 languages.
Bryansford is small quiet village 3miles/5km from the town of Newcastle where in the words of Percy Ffrench 'the Mountains of Mourne sweep to the sea'. Newcastle is home to the world renowned Royal County Down Golf Course with it's two outstanding links courses. The Championship Course will be hosting the 116th Women's Amateur Championship from 11-15 June 2019 and in July competitors in The Open scheduled to take place Royal Portrush Golf Club will practice at RCD prior to the competition in Portrush. Murlough Nature Reserve with its magnificent walks is 5 miles away. Stroll along the beach and return through the reserve to enjoy the flora, fauna and magnificent views of Slieve Donard and the Mourne Mountains. Ponies, cattle and rabbits can be seen grazing and if you're lucky you will hear (and possibly see) a cuckoo. Tollymore National Outdoor Centre is 1 mile from the gate lodge or a 15 min stroll through the park. Here you can enjoy the Hot Rock Climbing Wall or enrol in Mountaineering, Rock Climbing or Canoeing Courses. Outdoors Activity Training Courses are also available. Castlwellan Forest Park is 5 miles away. It is home to the world renowned Annesley Garden Arboretum and its 43( at the most recent count) Champion Trees including Northern Ireland's Tree of the Year 2018, the stunning multi stemmed Giant Redwood with it's amazing 19 trunks, a fabulous place for a walk anytime of year where you will always find something of interest to see. If you're lucky you will spot a red squirrel or two. Rumour has it there are quite a few reds in the Annesley Garden at present. Seaforde's Tropical Butterfly House is also well worth a visit. These are just samples of some of the fantastic things to do in our locality and what make it unique.
  • Fantastic host, great cottage and lots of lovely touches.

  • The most magical stay and perfect location to settle after a lovely walk in the woods. Angelas’ personal touches were some of the most thoughtful additions we’ve come across yet in an air b&b, we cannot wait to return to this little gem and our only regret was not staying longer.

  • Loved staying in this unique little pink gate lodge, amazing being able to have the dog with me. Really warm welcome. With a super sweet welcome basket, filled with very generous bits. Loved by all, extremely thoughtful. Fuel for the fire also was left to use which was greatly appreciated. The location is just wonderful, especially with it's own private gate into the forest itself. Super cozy with everything you need for a relaxing gate away. Thank you Angela for sharing your beautiful little pink gate lodge for us all to enjoy x

  • This is our family’s second time at the cottage and it never disappoints.... all the finishing touches are just lovely. We love it as the cottage seems worlds away from the everyday hustle.... light the fire.. grab a board game and let the memories happen. Can’t wait to get back down when the weather is good to enjoy the cottage garden..

  • Fantastic house for a bigger group. Very beautiful location- would recommend over and over, thank you Patrick.

  • Exquisite house in a stunning location. We used this as a base for a reunion for a group of 10 adults and 3 under 2s and it was perfect. The hot tub and heated floors were a cosy touch which we really appreciated after a long walk. The dining table was a bit cramped if we all wanted to eat together but otherwise space wasn't an issue.

    Lisa2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed with a group of friends after a wedding nearby. A stunning house, highly finished with everything you need for a stay. Wish we had booked it for longer! Close to Newcastle and castlewellan for beautiful walks and tasty food! Would highly recommend.

  • Great house for a group or family. Hot tub is a big plus. Very clean. Plenty of space. Everything you need for a self-catering holiday. And location in terms of Mourne Mountains and South Down is excellent.

  • Beautiful house. We loved the hot tub!

  • This place was amazing. We were in Ireland for a week and this was the last place we stayed. It blew the others away. We didnt want to leave. Very clean. The heated floors came in handy as the weather was a bit cold. The hot tub was an added bonus. Amazing home. Will definately recommend it to everyone who visits the area.

The Barn at Pink Cottage is close to Downpatrick, Strangford Lough and right at the centre of Game of Thrones filming locations in County Down. You’ll love my place because of it's quirkiness, cosiness, stained glass windows and medieval feel. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, honeymooners, walkers and anyone wishing to just get away from it all and kick back in a beautiful tranquil setting.
The Barn features exposed stone walls, stained glass windows, wood burning stove and a mezzanine bedroom neatly tucked under the eaves and overlooking the living area (please note there is limited standing room and ducking is required in loft bedroom - this just adds to the charm of our little Barn, according to our guests). The kitchen comes equipped with all utensils, microwave and toaster and the wet room features a walk-in, pebble floored shower.
We are situated in a beautiful tranquil woodland setting yet are central to Downpatrick, Saintfield and several areas of natural outstanding beauty, Mourne Mountains (15 miles) and Strangford Lough (19 miles). The city of Belfast is just a 35 mins drive away. More excitingly.......we are central to many of the Game of Thrones filming locations - River Quoile & Inch Abbey (5 miles), Castle Ward and Audley's View (15 miles).
  • Place was fantastic, host was great, would highly recommend

    Charlie2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • The Barn is really a beautiful place to stay. It is exactly as described. Everywhere you look there are lovely little details. The headroom over the bed was lower than I'd expected (I was aware that you needed to duck), but it wasn't a problem for either of us. The loction is very peaceful and quiet, just what we needed. However there wasn't much choice of places to eat out close by. We were there over the bank holiday weekend, and we found that most places were closed. Other than this it was perfect.

  • Travelling from the USA, we found Nicola's cottage on AirBnB as we were going to be attending a wedding in nearby Ballynahinch. My husband and I enjoyed our stay very much - 5 days. The barn was cozy and comfortable. The surrounding area is beautiful. Nicola's road is dotted with gorgeous homes, church and landscapes - the cutest cows - even a distillery. Should we ever find ourselves in this area of Northern Ireland again, we would not hesitate to stay in Nicola's cottage again.

  • You cannot understate how beautiful this house is, and what a lovely place it is to stay. We enjoyed staying here so much, and would happily stay here again. Nicola responds very quickly, and was an excellent host. All I can say is that you should definitely stay here for a unique and beautiful experience.

This is a self contained loft space with its own entrance, while still being part of our home. It has its own ensuite shower room, a small kitchen/dining area with fridge, microwave, toaster, small hot-plate, kettle & sink. It also has a settee & satellite TV. There is also access to our WiFi Internet.
We are situated at the base of the Mourne Mountains, looking out onto the Irish Sea. We ARE literally "Where the Mountains of Mournes sweep to the sea" as the words of the old song say!! From our home, you have direct access to walking in the Mournes, walking up through our fields and onto the Quarry Track. And a very short distance, across the road, you have access to the National Trust coastal path, to enjoy the rugged, stoney coast line.
  • Lobely hosts. Very good clean space. Handy to Newcastle, Kilkeel and the Mournes for trekking. Little extras left like a fresh Wheaten loaf, butter and jam.

    Peter2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Loft is a cosy retreat that you can feel at home in at the end of your day sightseeing or hillwalking. Bryan and Catherine are considerate hosts and will give you as much or as little attention as you require.

    Helen2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot.

    Mary2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Clean and tidy. Bryan and Catherine responded quickly to any questions. Some supplies left for us was a nice touch. The view from outside is beautiful would have loved to see the view from the bedroom!! Excellent accommodation.

  • We stayed on a stormy winters weekend, was warm and cosy inside. We were welcomed by the hosts, they where warm and welcoming. Out the back door is a walk up 2 bloody Bridge, a 5 minute drive to Newcastle.

    Christopher2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Second time staying here.. Would recommend for hospitality and location! Brilliant place to stay at the foot of the Mournes. Great hosts!

    Paddy2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A generous and comfortable space with the bonus of really comfortable bed, sofa and a useful kitchen area, with very helpful hosts. It was peaceful, accessible to Newcastle and reasonably priced. Hotel rooms are only good for a few nights, we could have stayed at The Loft for much longer. Many thanks!

    Nigel2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, cosy loft. Didn’t feel like we were connected to the main house at all and felt very private. On arrival Catherine was so warm and very helpful with suggestions on where to eat and best routes to take on our journey up the mournes the following day. The room was warm on arrival and they even had milk, coffee, tea and cereal for us to use (we have went to places before with none of these things available so this was a nice touch) stunning views - the sea to the front of the house and the mournes to the back. Also great location, only a 1 minute drive in Newcastle town. Would come back here in heartbeat. Thanks guys :)

This is a modern Apartment, offers a central location in close proximity to shops, restaurants, activities and the beach. Over looking the town hall the centre of all activities. Fabulous views to everything Newcastle has to offer, with the beach only across the street and mountain views from the balcony. Private parking Sit in the comfort of your apartment to watch Newcastle unfold from the comfort of an armchair
  • Great apartment in centre of Newcastle. We were over for a family occasion and did not spend as much time in the apartment as we would have liked but we will return again. Very comfortable, great views of life passing by on main street and nice and quiet too with the bedroom at the back. Very funny watching all the kids rubber necking the ice cream parlour below. Very nice of the hosts to provide a welcome pack, that included local bread, butter, jam and milk. Stylish, comfortable apartment with all mod cons. Siblings, who were staying in two local well known hotels had a look around, were impressed and may well book up in future.

    Aidan2020-03-15T00:00:00Z

One of the only traditional Cottages in the area, built by the owner's family in the early 1800s. Ivy Cottage is set at the foot of the beautiful Mourne Mountains, overlooking the harbour in Newcastle. The cottage is fully equipped for a relaxing stay, welcoming guests including families and people with pets. Ivy cottage provides comfortable accommodation for at least four, with two double bedrooms and the optional use of a folding bed in the living room.
  • Lovely, peaceful location with great views.

    Lucy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful stay, from the little personal touches like welcome pack and flowers were much appreciated to having everything catered for including dvd, games etc. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves walking, there are numerous scenic walks nearby like the granite trail which runs behind the property. The sea views are beautiful and it’s set in a lovely quiet neighbourhood. There is a path a short distance from the house to a couple of local pubs with great craic and local musicians. If you are looking for a warm and welcoming home from home place to stay I would highly recommend Ivy Cottage.

  • We had a lovely short stay at Christine’s place and definitely intend to return! Cottage was love, spacious and really well equipped with plenty of toys to amuse a 3 year old and a 1 year old. Christine made sure that we had everything we needed for our stay!

    Naomi2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • The place is spacious. There is a couch and tv in kitchen. All the things you would need in a home we’re available. Games and toys for kids. The outside space was great because the dogs were fenced in and safe. The bedrooms were perfect and nicely decorated. Another couch and two big cozy chairs in living room. The house was nice and warm.

  • Christine's cottage was a charming stay, with a bit of natural beauty surrounding the area! The place has everything one could ask for and then some. Not to mention the people of Newcastle were some of the nicest I had met on my journey through Ireland and Northern Ireland (which is saying something). A place I would definitely like to make arrangements for in the future when I'm back in this part of the world!

  • My partner and I stayed in Janet's apartment for 1 night before having to cut our trip to Dundrum short due to a government enforced lockdown, however, we made the most of our overnight stay and can safely say we had a fantastic experience nonetheless. The apartment is beautifully decorated and with a stunning view overlooking Dundrum Bay - exactly how it appears in the pictures on the advert. Janet was very communicative to our inquiries and needs and made us feel at home the minute we arrived with a complimentary bottle of wine and personalised note. We will have to revisit again in the near future under better circumstances!! Thanks again Janet. Conn

    Conn2020-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • The views from the apartment are amazing, we had lovely weather however the views would be enjoyable in any weather from lovely sunny days to stormy winter days! The apartment is lovely, very tastefully decorated and has everything you would need from towels to utensils plates etc you literally don't need to take anything with you only food and drink. Janet was great from the start, very clear with her communication and always prompt with responses. We had a fabulous stay, would visit again soon and would recommend anyone to book. Dundrum is a beautiful location, Murlough Beach is amazing aswell as the sites around Dundrum, Newcastle & Slieve Donard

    Úna2020-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was our 2nd stay in Janet’s place and it was as as great this time round, as last! Our stay this time has coincided with everything shutting down due to Covid-19 which, in a different apartment, might have been an issue. However Janet’s apartment is equipped pretty much to the standard of a home, so cooking meals was no problem, thankfully! For anyone due to stay during the restrictions, Mourne Seafood and the chip shop opposite, Bayside Catch, both remain open for takeaway, but nowhere is open to eat in. Both small local supermarkets have remained well stocked with basics too (well we never had an issue) Tesco and Supervalue in Newcastle also continued to have all we needed. The best advice I can leave though is to forget all about that and just enjoy the stunning views you will have with this apartment....social distancing is no problem here!!

    Vanessa2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Janet's condo is absolutely gorgeous. The location was perfect for us to relax and enjoy the scenery. The local grocery store was within walking distance as well as a few local restaurants and pubs. The bus stop was just a short 5 minute walk from Janet's condo and a hour ride to Belfast. The locals and Dundrum for very kind and helpful to us. Janet was also very helpful with providing prompt responses. Her condo was sparkling clean and very comfortable. Thank you Janet for sharing accommodations with us!

Jenifer and Bruce are very friendly and made us feel very welcome, and there were some lovely little touches (a vase of fresh daffodils on the table, and everything we would need for breakfast in the fridge and cupboard), which was very much appreciated. Beautiful surroundings too. Thank you both for a wonderful stay :)

  • A beautiful gem snuggled in a haven of country living at its absolute best !! A stones throw from Michelin Starred restaurants. Short drives to enchanted forests, ancient sites and healing strolls by the Lough. Emma’s Place has the best of sparkling clean modern facilities cocooned in warm character features. Emma herself is also a “ little gem” of a young lady who is an absolute pleasure to chat to. Her golden Labradors and their golden cocker spaniel ‘cousin’ delighted us !! Enchanting retreat !!!

    Nuala2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect place to spend our last nights in Ireland. Emma was a friendly helpful host and nothing was too much trouble for her. The accomodation was amazing ... I would give it 6 stars. The decor was lovely and homely and the surroundings peaceful. The 2 dogs greeted us every morning and r dry time we arrived home ... they were gorgeous and loved the attention. Thank you so much for a perfect end to our tour around Ireland. Such a beautiful place in a beautiful country!

    Cathy2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Emma’s place guarantees privacy, tranquil and very peaceful surroundings. The bed and pillows are very good, very spacious for 2 people, with huge and safe garden if you have small kids with you. We came to Ireland to play golf and we were absolutely delighted with the many golf courses nearby, all very high standard, very scenic too. We would highly recommend Emma’s place to family and very good friends.

  • Stayed here for a friends wedding. Good base to explore Northern Ireland from. Accommodation like a home from home with plenty of amenities, hairdryer, iron/ ironing board etc and even extras like hairspray for you to use. Bed super comfy. Set within lots of nice scenery. Emma very welcoming and helpful, even gave us a lift when she saw us walking down a country road to the reception venue in our wedding clothes which was very nice of her. Enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend

  • Just back from a 3 night stay with my mum at this beautiful, relaxing air b n b. Emma was an excellent host who gave us a lovely welcome and advised us on places to visit and restaurants to eat at during our stay. The cottage is very nicely decorated and very clean. Cara Cottage is located on the outskirts of the village of Kilcoo in the heart of Mourne. In an idyllic quiet setting, there are breath-taking views and easy access to walking and biking trails nearby. A cosy one-bedroom detached cottage, sleeping 2 adults + 2 children or 4 adults, this is a perfect rural retreat for relaxation or a base to explore everything the local area has to offer. https://www.theguardian.com/travel/2019/oct/07/mourne-mountains-northern-ireland-adventure-holiday-hiking-k
We’re ideally located for access to the many outdoor activities the Mournes have to offer. Within ten minutes of the cottage you’ll find Game of Thrones filming location Tollymore Forest, the buzzing seaside town of Newcastle, home of Royal County Down Golf Course and Slieve Donard, the highest mountain in Ulster. Cara Cottage has a modern open plan kitchen, dining and living space. The fully equipped kitchen includes lots of storage and surface space, a fridge, oven/hob, microwave, toaster, and kettle. The dining table seats 4, and in the living room along with TV/DVD the multi-fuel stove is ideal for sitting by the fire in the evening. So you don’t have to worry, fuel for the fire is provided for you- enjoy! The living room has a sofa bed which would suit 2 adults/children, and the bedroom has a double bed. A travel cot is available if needed, as well as a high chair/booster seat. The bathroom has a full suite, including bath and separate electric shower and a hairdryer is provided. For laundry, there’s a utility space with storage, access to a clothes horse or outside line for drying and an iron and ironing board. Cara Cottage is situated to the side/rear of our family home, so there’s ample parking at the front, and lots of space on the lawn to the side for a picnic on the grass or for children to safely play outside. The easiest way to get around is by car, but buses run through Kilcoo village connecting us with Newry City, Castlewellan, Newcastle and onwards to Belfast. Kilcoo village is 5 minutes walk from Cara Cottage and has a mini supermarket, a food take-away, petrol station, and church. There are two local pubs which both serve food. Nearby Castlewellan Castle, Lake, Forest Park, Arboretum and bike trail are definitely worth a visit, and don’t miss the Peace Maze, one of the world's largest permanent hedge mazes. If you’re planning on exploring further afield, Downpatrick (burial place of Saint Patrick) is 20 minutes drive, Newry City is 25 minutes away, and Dublin is an hour down the motorway from there. Heading North, Belfast is 50 minutes by car from Cara Cottage. Closer to home, if you’re discovering or revisiting the Mourne Mountains, we personally recommend the stunning Brandy Pad, Hares Gap and Trassey Track. Venture further and take in Spelga Dam and neighbouring Hilltown, only 10 minutes drive from Kilcoo. Onwards towards the beautiful coastal town of Rostrevor and Kilbroney Forest Park for more stunning scenery. We would suggest following the coast road, taking in Greencastle’s 13th Century Norman Castle, Cranfield’s beautiful sandy beach and Kilkeel Harbour. Continue along the coast through Ballymartin, Annalong and back to Newcastle for a bite to eat before heading home to Cara Cottage. There are plenty of fantastic food options for you, such as Kilcoo’s own Greenan’s Steakhouse, as well as Maginns Bar & Restaurant in Castlewellan, and Villa Vinci, Vanilla, Great Jones’, and Brunel’s in Newcastle. Be sure to sample some famous Mourne seafood during your stay in Dundrum’s Mourne Seafood Bar too.
This is a rural location and a close knit community, with lots to do in the surrounding area. https://www.theguardian.com/travel/2019/oct/07/mourne-mountains-northern-ireland-adventure-holiday-hiking-kayaking-cycling?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_WhatsApp

  • Mary and her family are lovely. Always offered to drive us when was raining. The location is great, bus station just down the hill. The cottage was clean and stylish and they had even a welcome pack. Really nice experience.

  • This was the perfect place to stay for a quiet weekend away. The cottage is so cosy and quaint and my kids loved being next door to the sheep :) Such a peaceful place with only the sound of bleating when you open the door. The hosts were so warm and welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise and having the fire lit for us too :) The cottage had everything we needed inside. We didn’t want to leave!

  • A wonderful place to stay and to get to know the landscape, Mary's cottage was very clean and nicely decorated, communication with the hosts was perfect. I can only recommend it. Many thanks.

    Thorsten2019-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely spotless, toasty warm and plenty of space for a couple or small family. The views are truly unbelievable, views are constantly changing due to the clouds, and the loudest thing around the area is the occasional passing tractor bringing bales of hay to the fields. Blissful! This was our second visit to Cara Cottage which says it all, we had actually forgotten just how fresh the air is there! My partner was genuinely upset to be leaving. Thank you so much Mary, we will definitely be back as soon as possible :)

  • This gate lodge will take you back in time, in the best possible way! Honestly you won't get the chance to stay somewhere like this very often, but has all mod cons - Wi-Fi and sky TV. The location is amazing and we loved exploring the house. Communication was also great.

    Claire2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had amazing time in the house. It's a historic building. Very authentic and like the old stylish decoration. Fully equipped and it's very near the GOT shooting site. Get everything we need.

  • WOW! second time and still full of surprises! Christmas had come to the house! with a full 7 ft fir tree lights garlands and even santa! A full log fire just finished it off! The house whisked us back in time to a magical place - immediately felt like home - the house was spotless with all the antique brass and glass shimmering in the tree lights. We took the christmas ferry and visited the aquarium, returned to mulled wine and mince pies at Strangford Christmas festival, relly IS beginning to feel a lot like christmas!!!........................ We will be returning

If you want a quiet place in the countryside where you can walk along the country roads into the forest park, this beautiful log cabin is perfect. The cabin has quirky touches that bring the outside inside. It is set behind the owner’s house in their garden, so there is no road noise. The porch has 4 adirondack chairs so you can sit and enjoy the outside space rain or shine. The cabin is open plan, with a loft that can sleep 2 adults or it’s perfect to tuck the children up in while you relax.
There is space to park your car, and walk through to the cabin. There is a stereo system so you can listen to music.
Castlewellan is a perfect base for many interests. The forest park has mountain bike trails, walking paths, an arboretum and Europe’s largest maze. You can also rent kayaks and canoes to paddle around the lake. The Mourne Mountains are easily accessible, and Murlough Beach/Nature Reserve is down the road. There are several outstanding pubs and some lovely cafés in the town. For Game of Thrones fans, Tollymore Forest where many scenes were shot is a few short miles away. Legananny Dolmen, Dromena Cashel and Finnis Souterain are part of StoneAge Tours route for those interested in prehistory.
  • An excellent cabin, close to nature and away from face paced life. Nice to have no internet or phone signal and appreciate each other’s company, highly recommended!

    Zoë2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Tracy welcomed us with a lit stove in the cabin. It's a lovely little spot for a place to relax, and enjoy the views and nearby areas. We would definately recommend!

    Emma2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Well this place is just a wee slice of heaven! We have stayed in it just this last weekend and had an absolute ball. The space is clean, beautifully laid out and with some fabulously quirky features like the tree trunks going up through the cabin and the beautiful rainbow fairy lights in the eves. There is everything you need as well as some really thoughtful touches - tea, coffee, Trivial Pursuit etc. and it has the most beautiful views up to the back wall of the forest park along with their two beautiful little Shetland ponies. The cabin is lovely and cosy so despite staying there during storm Jorge we were lovely and snug with the log burner heating the entire cabin and a few electric heaters if you felt the chill. Tracy and Jimmy were fabulous hosts, from Tracy's local knowledge, Jimmy offering us a lift into the town if we wanted to head out for a few toots and making sure we never ran out of logs to burn. I just still can't get over the fact that Jimmy built it and Tracy decorated it - well done. We will be back!

Everything you could possibly need is provided and Tracy is a great host, nothing is too much bother. Just what I needed a relaxing night in a cosy log cabin in front of a roaring fire. Thank you!

    Laurie2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely quiet place to go to to relax or to be close to Castlewellen, Newcastle, Dundrum. The wood burning stove kept the pace toasty and it has great kitchen facilities. The wee veranda was lovely to sit on even in the rain. Would have loved to stay for longer and would definitely like to go back. Lovely, friendly hosts as well. Thanks!

  • This is an absolutely gorgeous apartment right on the beach in one of the most beautiful areas of Northern Ireland. The beds are NEW and the place is spotless - great seating areas, beautiful views, easy to find and most importantly, friendly and caring hosts. You know it is a good rental when the dish soap is FULL and there are lots of little extras like a huge TV and extra crisp linens. We even loved the soaps in the bathrooms! There is enough to do in the area that you could stay a week and still have more to see. Ciaran is a local guy with lots of insider tips as well. Internet was VERY strong, too. A great place and a great value!

The "bunker" is an amazing space, really stylish and such a great sleep! Breakfast items in the fridge too which was a lovely touch! If you're looking complete peace and quiet or to play at the nearby golf course this is the place to book. Ciaran was on hand if we needed anything (but they had taken care of everything so well we didn't need to contact him!) I was only there for a night and didn't want to leave. Will be back again soon!

County Down, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom

A charming little stone cottage set in 20 acres of stunning gardens and woodland in County Down. Explore the garden setting of this cosy stone cottage amid the gentle bustle of a working smallholding with geese, chickens, sheep, goats and even the occasional peacock. Many historic and prehistoric sites nearby including filming locations of the Game of Thrones. Close to beaches and hill walking, National Trust properties and, though a rural location, close enough to Belfast to access the city.
This cosy cottage sits in the lush gardens and yard of Knocknamorney house. Originally a spiritual retreat, rumour has it that the cottage was built for the Dalai Lama when he visited Northern Ireland. It has its own front door, a bedroom, shower room with separate dressing room and a small kitchen. It is located in the yard that is shared with the main house. It also has a private parking space. Fully furnished kitchen with oven/hob, fridge freezer, microwave, dining table seating for 2. Dressing room with shower room. Bedroom with double bed with wall mounted digital TV with freeview. **Please note there is no lounge space in the property. There is a laundrette in saintfield village and there is a washing machine in the main house that can be used by arrangement. There is a drying area to the rear of the cottage.
The cottage is on the outskirts of Saintfield which has a number of great pubs, cafes and other interesting things to see and do. Rowallane Gardens can be accessed from the back of our wood. The cottage is close to a number of wedding venues like the Carriage Rooms in the Montalto Estate.

  • Amazing place, the cottage is so cute and right in the middle of the farm so there were chickens right beside the windows! We had a great time and barely left the cottage and farm. Would 100% recommend this place 😊
