Otherwise spend the day in Coles Bay exploring Mures and Richardson Beach or poke your head into the protected nooks around Honey Moon Bay.

The Freycinet Peninsula is serenely beautiful with lots to see and do, regardless of the season. Did you know that the average daytime winter temperature on the Tasmanian east coast is 16 degrees C? Activities include walking in the National Park, swimming and relaxing on pristine beaches, fishing, a cruise to Wineglass Bay, quad biking, sea kayaking, flight seeing, a special day out on a chartered yacht, gourmet tours, and night time viewing of penguins and Tassie devils.
Coles Bay is a small place with small operators. If you plan on anything other than just walking in the National Park it's always a good idea to make a reservation in advance as activities can book out. Provide your address and we'll send local brochures with your map.
Guests require their own transport. Although they can arrive and depart by public transport (once/day) in order to be able to explore the area a car/motorbike, or for the very fit, a bike, is essential.
Due to our proximity to an unfenced cliff we are not insured to take children. As the house is on one level with wide doors and hobless showers we can accommodate guests using wheel chairs.
Indulge yourself, year round at Sheoaks on Freycinet B&B, designed by Leigh Woolley, purpose built, environmentally sensitive, absolute waterfront on Great Oyster Bay at Coles Bay. All rooms provide sea views, en-suites, superbly comfortable pillow topped beds and fluffy bath sheets. Delicious made-to-order breakfasts feature seasonal Tasmanian produce. All other meals, including walker’s lunches, are available by arrangement.
Relax in the sitting room, a great place to chat with fellow guests in winter by the fire, or in summer on the deck. Watch the sunset while enjoying super fresh Freycinet oysters and a glass of East Coast wine or a tasty barbecue meal.
Access is via the foyer or straight into the corridor of the guest wing. This separation ensures guests’ privacy, yet we are close enough to provide for your needs.
Sheoaks is a place where guests can unwind, leaving the cares of their working lives behind. Service is always there, but it’s unobtrusive. Without hovering we try to ensure that guests know that it’s just a matter of asking and their needs will be accommodated.

Private room in Coles Bay
Come stay with us in our home, in Coles Bay Tasmania, gateway to the world famous Wineglass Bay and Freycinet National Park. Our rooms have King Size Beds & private en-suite. There's free NBN Wifi, Netflix and LCD Smart TV's. Enjoy a complimentary breakfast with pastries, cereals, yoghurt & fruit, either in your room, the guest lounge, or outside on the deck. We also have a BBQ area and fire pit for relaxed evenings under the stars. Come see why we made Coles Bay & Freycinet our home!
Coles Bay is surrounded by Freycinet National Park, where you can walk to the Wineglass Bay lookout, along with other hikes and view points. It's about a 10 minute drive into the main section of the Freycinet National Park from here.
Ask us where to eat, where to drink, activities to do, walks, beaches etc... Coles Bay is an amazing place to stay for a few days. It's only about a 200 metre walk to the beach from here. There's other beaches too, depending on what you're after. Surf, safe, views, snorkelling, fishing, sand castles....
We're close to the Freycinet Golf Course so if that's your addiction you can get your fix! Coles Bay has lots of activities to offer, like sailing, cruising to Wineglass Bay, a wine tour, quad bikes and kayaking tours.
Coles Bay is central on the East Coast and is a great place to base yourself to see other sites on the East Coast.
There's no public transport in Coles Bay. Unfortunately this is a place that's easier by car. Bring your own bikes if you prefer getting around that way, or we have a couple of bikes you can borrow. We don't have helmets for loan, they're BYO.
We've listed this in House Rules too.
We're on tank water. The Freycinet region is a low rainfall area and often in drought, so we encourage people to be water wise.
If you're looking for dates well in advance, let us know. We can open them up on our booking system is required.
We have two bedrooms downstairs in our home giving our guests privacy from us, and other guests. The bedrooms are large. The king size beds are new, and can be split to 2 singles if needed. The decor is modern. The en-suite is fully tiled. We have NBN Internet, Netflix and Stan streaming TV and a 40" LCD Smart TV in each room.
For breakfast there's cereals, Tasmanian yoghurt, Tasmanian fruits (where we can), bread, spreads, coffee, teas & juices, plus whatever we've come up with for that day. Just help yourself to what you want. If you have any special dietary requirements, let us know in advance and we'll do our best to have something equivalent for you.
If you want to grab take away for dinner you can eat at home too. There's some great places to eat in Coles Bay too. Ask us for our favourites. Or BBQ for yourselves here. We have BBQ packs and with notice can make a salad for you too.
We have some mini bar items, like soft drinks, bottled water and wine. We will more than likely also have Melshell Oysters that you can buy from us, shucked or un-shucked. Practice shucking oysters and impress your friends when you get home! Stay 3 nights and we'll give you a dozen oysters and a bottle of wine for free.
We've built the house mostly ourselves. Yes, we have the emotional scaring to back it up! We're still doing some landscaping but that shouldn't interfere with your stay. You might find an outside wall is partly tiled, or there's a wire fence we haven't replaced yet. It won't change how comfy the bed is after your day walking in the Park!
In addition to your own room, there's a common room with a couple of couches and a big telly, for relaxing and chatting, with a table we can unfold if that's where you want to eat breakfast. Otherwise, off the common room is an outdoor deck area with a large table. There's also a table in your room and you can eat there if you want privacy.
There's an outdoor area with a BBQ and a fire pit if you want to spend an evening under the stars.
If you want to borrow some fishing gear or a bike let us know. You need to have your own bike helmet. We have a kayak too and life jackets. It can expand to a double kayak. Anything else you need, ask and hopefully we can help.
We're around most of the time. We'll try not to get in your way.
At times we can be away at short notice as we're both emergency service volunteers. Emergency services in Coles Bay are volunteer run so it's important we do our bit for our small community. Don't worry if we're not around when you check in. There's a key pad lock on the doors and we can give you the code to get in.
We've been either living or holidaying in Coles Bay for 20+ years for Jen, and for Mark, all his life, so we have knowledge of walks, beaches, fishing, snorkelling, restaurants, tours and activities, 4WD tracks etc... Feel free to ask if you're stuck.
We have a dog, Gemma. She's a border collie. She's blonde, she's pretty, she's shameless and she loves people. It's up to you how much you want to interact with her.
