The house was decorated beautifully, Jennifer even got us a Christmas tree for the Christmas season, they have truly thought of everything. I would totally recommend a stay at Brad and Jennifer's cute little house in Concordia.

When you need more space then a hotel or other listings provide this is the place for you! This listing is perfect for people coming into town to visit family and need space to entertain. It's also perfect for hunters, more then enough space for all your gear, and trees to hang the deer! A huge living/dinning room area, with a deck out the French doors makes it a great space for families to gather. So no matter what your reason is for coming to Chillicothe, this is the perfect space for you!
I will customize this space to fit your needs. This particular listing is for the main floor of my home. Driveway parking or off street parking. For an additional fee I can add access to the basement, which has an additional bathroom, pool table, arcade games, and 2 other "resting areas" (no egress window, so not bedrooms, but a good place for the kids to nap).
Nice quiet neighborhood in a small town. Six blocks from downtown, nice little playground 1 block away, Simpson park is about a mile away. Nothing in Chillicothe is too far from my place.
  • Very clean a great location every thing was great and value was super great

  • I really liked the place, especially for value and comfort. The sleep was the absolute best I’ve had in decades. My schedule changed suddenly due to a hectic work schedule and Beth was able to accommodate on a very short notice. I will be booking there every time I have work or any of our guys have work in the area.

    Jamin2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome. Waaaay better than a hotel and Beth is super on top of things if you have to ask any questions. Could ask for better in Carrollton.

Stay in a piece of History! This is the ORIGINAL THEATER where Walt Disney himself and his corporation premiered 2 movies! This theater had such an impact on Walt that he built one on Main Street USA in Disneyland. Family Friendly and comfortable apartment and theater where you can enjoy where Disneyland began. Come and enjoy the WORLD FAMOUS fresh fire roasted coffee at the CAFE MARCELINE and see the Walt Disney Hometown Museum and experience the Magic that inspired Walt!
The Suite is located on Main Street USA in downtown Marceline. It is near restaurants , banks , and shopping!
  • Great hosts offering personal and thoughtful touches to our stay for my daughter's birthday! They went above and beyond. It was comfortable and represented accurately in the details given. I love the quaint and quirkiness of this historical place. Don't miss the hot chocolate downstairs!

    Crystal2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • S/O to our hosts: Rachel, Dianne, Joe, Bret and Rachel for the fantastic hospitality, quick responses and great recommendations and history of Marceline! The apartment was perfect! There is one bedroom featuring a king size bed, a full bed in the second bedroom, and a hide-a-bed in the living room. All the bedrooms were comfortable and designed with subtle and classy Walt Disney/Mickey decorations. The kitchen was perfect for the snacks we brought. The Mickey Mouse dishes, mugs, and glasses were charming and aesthetic. There was a mini-fridge that worked just perfect for our few needs. We enjoyed walking around main street USA, the nearby parks and historic places around the theater apartment. One of our amazing host, Brett, showed us inside the Walt Disney Historic Uptown Theater under our historic apartment we stayed in! It was amazing! All Disney fans should stay here!

    Luke2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay for any Disney fan. Fun Disney touches everywhere! From the cups and mugs to fun books to read. Will definitely be back!!

  • Historic building in the center of the boyhood hometown of Walt Disney!

    Ellen2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a full apartment above a historic theater where Walt Disney lived as a boy and later returned to premier a movie. It is very close to everything in Marceline and you can easily walk and take in the town and the museum. Don't miss the Cafe Marceline downstairs for coffee and conversation - a slice of small-town Americana. The theater itself, is closed and in disrepair, so do not count on seeing much of the historic space.

    Todd2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment was a delightful place to stay so close to the Walt Disney Hometown Museum. My son and I stayed one night and it was comfy and convenient. Glad there was central air conditioning, shower was nice and hot and towels big and soft. Was nice to hear the trains throughout the night - I don't hear that where I live. Nostalgic! The best part is the history of the building. Just so cool! I enjoyed the coffee table books about Disney and the other Disney memorabilia decorating the place. And the coffee in the morning was so so good! Thanks, Rachel!

    Karen2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We've travelled to Marceline many times over the years to visit family. It is nice to have an option IN Marceline. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go (the park, trains, museum & restaurants). The apartment is a second story walk up in the old Uptown Theater block. Views from the living room and front bedroom look out over Main Street towards the west, so we were able to enjoy a pretty sunset. The kitchen and second bedroom have nice natural light from high windows that provide privacy to the unit. We enjoyed the Walt themed decor (I particularly enjoyed the photos of Walt around Marceline because you don't really see that imagery anywhere else Disney). It was easy to imagine what life might have been like when Walt was debuting his movies in the theater downstairs. Kitchen had a full stove / oven & a small fridge from which we were able to prep simple meals for a family. The hosts were friendly and quick in all their communications. We would stay here again.

The Tin Roof Sundae Cabin and The Sundae Cottage are located in North Central Missouri - a natural "sweet spot" for those who love being outdoors. Guests have access to 800 acres which includes a combination of native timber, wetlands, grasslands, and streams. Guests are welcome to explore the entire property. A small pond and fire pit are located a stone's throw from the front porch. The large porches provide plenty of shade and seating, plus great views of the surrounding landscape.
TinRoofSundae Cabin was completed in Fall 2017. With an open floor plan and large bunk room, we hoped to create an ideal getaway, not only for our own family, but for anyone that loves the outdoors and all it has to offer. After a lot of hard work (and a few finishing touches) from everyone in the family, we are excited to share our space!

  • This was my second stay at the cabin and I can’t say enough good things about it. Livia has all the touches of home and then some in this space. Our group went hiking on the main trail and enjoyed the beautiful property all weekend. Thinking of making this an annual destination for us! Can’t wait to stay again.

  • This cabin is a destination in itself. The serene atmosphere allows for you to enjoy nature while being completely accommodated to have a relaxing time. The spacious cabin gave our group plenty of room to spread out and the decor made us feel right at home. The hosts were most accommodating. The few special requests we made for our trip, they made sure to help out with. Overall we couldn’t ask for a better experience. We’ll certainly be back for another stay!

You can enjoy looking at the stars on clear nights, as we are away from light pollution and waking up and drinking coffee while overlooking fields and woods, deer, wild turkeys, and maybe a coyote.
  • Excellent place to stay if you enjoy privacy and a modern space. If I had to stay in the area again I would stay with Linda

    Brandon2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great location off Hwy 70 and for privacy in the country!! Extremely clean! Linda responded immediately to our needs!!

    Judy2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is beautiful and completely self sufficient. It was really nice to be able to prepare a decent dinner and do laundry. Thanks for a beautiful, restful space.

    Lisa2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Linda's cute studio. All the little things you end up needing when traveling were thought of - extra towels and blankets, q-tips and cotton balls, dark cloths for makeup, extra kitchen towels for spills or messy things, air mattresses, basic kitchen needs for cooking, and even scissors! Even so, Rachel was nearby and ready to answer any questions we had very quickly. It was a stylish space with a polished concrete floor and updated kitchen appliances, and it was clear it was well taken care of and cleaned regularly. Lots of natural light from windows, which overlook cornfields and a small pond - a very quiet get away. The mattress was on the firm side but still comfortable. Water was hot and the appliances in the kitchen all worked great. Eggs, cereal, tea, and coffee were all provided. The posting made clear there was no TV, however we did see one in the unit but it wasn't hooked up to anything - if you really needed it I imagine you could bring a dvd player or something to plug in. But the wifi worked great for online watching, too. All around a great stay, and would definitely return!

  • Our stay exceeded expectations! Clean, spacey, and hospitable.

  • This is a very neat place to stay. It is very quite and it is very well kept. We enjoyed our time there and will probably try to use it in the future if we are in that area.

  • Kathleen is an amazing host! I was looking for a last minute, quick getaway and found it here in this cozy cottage. Kathleen graciously accommodated my last minute plans and to my surprise provided a quick homemade, late night meal with dessert! It was amazing! After a good night's sleep I woke to find a sweet kitty cat at the door, two beautiful dogs playing in the snow, peacocks, horses and ducks all ready for breakfast! I spent time walking around the farm in the snow taking in the beautiful scenery. Kathleen brought another homemade breakfast, (possibly the best ever,) and got to enjoy it with one of the barn Kitty's close by. I then got another walk around the farm petting horses taking in this beautiful winter wonderland. I cannot tell you how peaceful this mini retreat is. I do encourage those traveling in the winter to make sure your chosen mode of transportation can get you through rough, snowy dirt roads. Your car might get stuck if it cannot. ;) In addition, make sure you read through the description in detail. Kathleen states exactly how the place is. There is animal slobber. This is a farm. This is, at times, muddy and messy and that is just perfect for some. Take a chance, get messy and enjoy the peace you will find off the beaten path with Kathleen. I am looking forward to returning soon.

  • Excellent meal, excellent locale. Away from all the hustle and bustle. Loved being awaken by a pride of peafowl💕

    Christine2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay with wonderful farm friends.

    Lucas2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at the farm was one of the highlights of our trip. We love animals, nature, architectural preservation and gourmet food, so this was right up our alley. Nothing better than sitting out on the porch drinking your coffee in the morning and watching the chickens, peacocks, dogs, cats, ducks, geese and horses run around. Particularly when accompanied by a delicious gourmet breakfast prepared by our host. This place will not be perfect for everyone, so please read her description fully. If you are looking for something modern and clean, staying on a farm is probably not for you. But it was just right for us. Katy was gracious and welcoming, and interesting to talk to. Make sure if you stay to make a reservation at her restaurant on the property. Foodie's delight!

    Sue2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was such a beautiful and relaxing place! Loved being able to walk outside and spend time with all the animals. The cottage itself had the perfect atmosphere for diving into a good book. Kathleen was very kind and hospitable! This was the perfect spot for a weekend getaway from the city, and would definitely come again!

    Haley2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen's place was a very nice experience after a long day of traveling. It was very quiet and we so enjoyed seeing all of the animals on her farm. Cottage was quite unique and we enjoyed it.

  • If you're looking for a get away from it all look no further. This place is warm and homey. There are animals to keep your company too. It was nice and cool inside and has a great view of farm land. I definitely recommend staying here for anyone needing a nice getaway.

    Kristen2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Hazel's place is a delightful full apartment over a shop on Boonville's historic Main Street with a view of the river. The apartment is spacious and inviting with a full and well stocked kitchen, comfy living room and an ample dining room. Everything was sparkling clean. We visited in November and appreciated the excellent location near to the Katy Trail, antique shops and grocery store. Check in was straightforward and Hazel was prompt and responsive. Will definity stay at Hazel's place again!

    Elizabeth2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • This spot is amazing...and MUCH bigger than I was anticipating! We had three of us, but it could easily accommodate more! The photos do not do it justice. Hazel is also an awesome host, and showed up to help us out on a few occasions. She is also quick to respond, and was more than gracious. The Boonville downtown is also very quaint...right next to the Katy trail, and close to where we needed to be. I will be back! (if you have trouble with stairs, probably not a spot for you! I liked the exercise!).

    Kristie2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great. SO much room, so nice to spread out and everyone could have their own space and be able to fix breakfast. We were there to go to two games in Columbia and it is a short easy drive to get there and more economical than many places right in Columbia. Highly recommend this place!

Not too far from the square! We are located in city limits but no neighbors to close. Plenty of parking and a nice patio for moon gazing!! The Bedroom is really large. The door for the bedroom is a curtain. No lock on the bedroom door. However, it is very private
I’m 22 miles from Jamesport mo. 23 miles south of Trenton, Mo and 23 miles from Brookfield, mo. We are only blocks away from the Chillicothe mo square home of sliced bread!! Lots to do and see in this town and surrounding towns as well.
  • Second stay with Jackie and it was great! I’m working a temp night contract and so I sleep during the day and she has been so hospitable to my needs such as making my room dark so I can sleep better. The pillows and bed are amazing too as well as the little touches she adds. Thanks again

    Medina2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jackie’s place is very comfortable in a relaxed and homey way. I was just passing through for work but would have enjoyed more time to chat with the host as well as sit in the cozy zone downstairs. The quilted comforter on bed was nice, soft, cotton. Do be prepared to climb about 10 steep stairs.

  • Jackie was a wonderful host and very attentive to any needs. I was a little hesitant about the privacy with the upstairs curtain, however it was completely private. • This Airbnb is a gem! We really enjoyed our overnight stay at Jackie’s. It was private, easy to find, spacious, very clean and comfortable., and Jackie is very hospitable. There were snacks, as well as hot and cold drink options in the room. I appreciated the chocolate! My one thought is, if you have difficulty going up or down stairs, getting to the bedroom might be a challenge. We definitely plan to stay again next time we spend the weekend in Chillicothe!

    Joni2019-11-10T00:00:00Z

house light and airy with big back and front yard (not fenced), eclectic decor with original art, 2 blocks from Boardwalk , 3 from Lyceum, walking trails nearby, State park with lake nearby. Most likely oldest house in Arrowrock, circa 1820 beautifully restored.

  • We had a great time staying at Lynn's place. It is a cute space filled with wonderful art and interesting books. We enjoyed sitting on the porch swing and enjoying the breeze. It's located right on mainstreet and is walkable to anything in Arrow Rock. Thanks Lynn!

    Dan2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lynn's home in Arrow Rock is a wonderful house full of wonderful books, plenty of art on the walls, and located in a prime spot for taking in a show, eating amazing food, an experiencing the special small town charm of the Rock. We had a great time along with our pup who loved the space to run around. There was a beautiful eastern phoebe nesting on the porch that was a welcome neighbor as she was caring for 5 eggs, and quaint birdsong in the morning from the trees. The instructions were solid, the place airy and full of light if you wanted, plenty of items in case you pack light (we had everything we needed but were thankful to have access just in case) and a location you can't beat. Thanks Lynn!

  • As the write up describes, this is not a place to compare to a Hilton or Marriott, or even a regular Bed and Breakfast. You are staying in an incredible piece of history. The are water damage issues and parts of the building including the common hallway can be very warm and humid. The new owners are working diligently on it and the apartment itself is quite pleasant with an amazing view of “Main Street USA”. If you are a Walt Disney aficionado, this is your place.

  • From the minute I booked until the moment we left I loved this experience. Kathleen was a great host. Very kind soul. From the farm land to the private cottage we loved our stay. We were greeted by peacocks, cute doggies, horses, a pony and a pig named Hammy! What a great place to getaway. There are classic movies to watch, popcorn, tea and coffee. She also provided us with an amazing breakfast! Close to town and far away from stress. GO enjoy this cute cottage.

  • We loved our stay and appreciated your space and your sweet animals! Everything about our night made us smile, from meeting the animals, the space, and our dining experience. Louie was so sweet, I really wanted to take him home and love on him longer, not sure he would have been only one taken because then there was Hammie....I could go on and on about each of them. It was a great place to unplug, not because we had to, we wanted to. One of a kind, unique experience. We loved every minute of our stay! Kathleen was a fantastic host, ensuring we felt comfortable, had what we needed and respects her guests privacy, but available should you need anything! We would love to come back and bring out kids who never had these experiences but would love it.

    Jennifer2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Katie and Ryan's place is wonderful. This space is beautifully designed (Katie greeted us with a joyful "Welcome to glamping!" when we arrived), private and spacious, with a nice view of the nearby pond. There's actually a second AirBnB on the property if you have a large party and want to split up. This unit doesn't have a bathroom attached, but the bathroom is not far and had a nice hot shower that is a perfect compliment to the space. If you do stay here, make sure to get dinner at the Dancing Bear Cafe, which is also on the farm. It's an amazing full course dinner in a lovely country setting that will knock your socks off. Try to call ahead if you can, so they know what to prepare for you. If you're looking for a wonderful, romantic, relaxed weekend away, you can stop looking now. This place is it.

  • Kathleen was an excellent host. The cottage was easy to find and just too cute. We had an amazing view of the pond and all around the farm. It was nice and cozy inside and out. My boyfriend and I had a great time walking around the farm interacting with the different animals. The short walk to the bathroom wasn’t an issue for us, it just felt like camping which is something we love doing anyway. There was everything you need for a quiet, peaceful stay. We would definitely go back again!

    Becca2019-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Pond House was a fun experience and we really enjoyed walking around the farm and watching the animals. The house was comfortable and the short walk to the restroom wasn't a problem at all. Kathleen was a perfect host, and the Dancing Bear restaurant was an awesome part of the trip. Thank you! Before we left we made sure to make the rounds to say bye to Howard, Louie, Hammy, the chickens, barn cats, horses, ducks, geese and, of course, the peacocks!

The upstairs Loft can also be rented to sleep four additional guests. Guests can enjoy an evening outside on the patio and will have access to a BBQ grill, a fire ring, and yard games.
For extra guests in your group (after two) the loft may be rented for $30/night per guest. (Taxes are included in the pricing.) There are four single beds in the Loft. Ceiling fans are on both floors. The Cottage has DISH TV. Enjoy the quiet country with a morning cup of coffee on the patio! And later use the grill or roast hot dogs and marshmallows at the fire ring. Save time to have some fun competition playing "Bean Bag Toss" or "Croquet" in the back yard.
My husband and I live up the hill from the Cottage. Pets live on this property. A Bassett hound who is friendly and curious, but will not bother you. If you prefer, she can be contained. A cat that will be frightened enough to stay away. You may hear an occasional LOUD train whistle! The tracks are very close to the Cottage and the hum of a train going by can be very soothing.
  • This was a beautiful place for my bridesmaids and I to get ready before my wedding ! Also, a great honeymoon spot! We highly reccomend the little red cottage!!!

  • A wonderful place to stay—very clean and plenty of room. We appreciated Martene’s quick replies and efforts to ensure we we had a pleasant stay. Great location. Highly recommend if needing a place to stay in the region.

  • Martene provides wonderful hospitality, including checking in re: any questions or things that we feel may need attention, (which there were none). We felt very comfortable in the cottage and love the very quiet location with beautiful view of the sky on a clear night. The cottage was very clean and accessories made our stay enjoyable. Martene's welcome helped us feel "right at home".

    Clay2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Martene had a cozy space and thoughtful touches all around. We didn't get to spend a lot of time at the cottage, but while we were there, it was pleasant and peaceful.

  • We really enjoyed our stay as newlyweds! Very adorable and quaint cottage. Cozy and warm for a fall weekend. Was fast to reply to us and was very welcoming. Also supplied a continental breakfast.

  • A true full amenity home away from home - and so peaceful!

  • This space was amazing and met everyone of our needs. Close to stores-very convenient. It was so very nice to have a space to meet up with my kids and their friends. Being able to cook for them and get them a home-cooked meal was very appreciated! Everything that Robert promised was there and readily available. He answered all of our questions almost immediately. Robert thought of everything that was needed and delivered it in an awesome, clean, spacious house! The complimentary bottle of wine was great!

    Charley2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Nice space. Lots of room.

    Rebecca2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • It really felt like being home. So comfortable and welcoming. We had a blast raiding the game closet and playing with our kids.

  • What a great place to stay! We were in town visiting family and felt that this house was perfect for our group. Thoughtful touches all over the house (local area information, games, fully equipped kitchen, etc) were much appreciated!

    Kelsea2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place for three generations of our family to stay while we visited extended family in Columbia and Warrensburg. Robert has added all sorts of extra touches throughout the house to make it cozy and inviting and fun. We especially appreciated the Christmas decorations (and chocolates). The house had information posted everywhere to assist guests--I appreciated how the info was helpful rather than demanding. This was the best equipped kitchen of any rental we've ever stayed at (and we use kitchens extensively). It was very clean. Towels and bedding were plentiful. Robert was quick to respond to our questions and needs. Beds were comfortable. House was spacious. Location is excellent--so near everything fun and historic in Boonville, including the Katy Trail. The basement was a bit cool, but that's probably because the carpet had been taken up temporarily; I'm guessing it'll be recarpeted by the time anyone else arrives. Robert even went out of his way to mail an item we left at his house. This was an excellent experience!

Great location! Lovely second floor apartment in historic, 100 year old brick bungalow. Private beautifully decorated and well-equipped space, separate to the main house, provides you the comfort and amenities you require to feel like home. Easy walking distance to downtown Boonville, Katy Bike Trail, restaurants, and casino. Warm Springs Ranch, home of the Budweiser Clydesdales and Columbia are a short drive away. Private courtyard & second story deck offer a place to relax after a full day.
The second story apartment has private outside entrance with 21 steps leading to the 2nd floor deck. Vintage pedestal bathtub requires one step up and step down entrance/exit. If you have mobility issues, these points are worth noting prior to making your reservation.
Windy Nest is located in a residential neighborhood just 2 blocks from downtown Boonville within easy walking distance to eateries, bars, antique and vintage shopping on Main Street and other nearby locations.
  • Perfection all the way around! Such welcoming hosts, Ron and Cheri made us feel at home in their tastefully decorated "nest"! I really appreciated the room darkening shades! Easy checkin and checkout. An ideal location, easy to find and so close to the downtown, you can walk! Ladies, be sure to check out the Windy Nest storefront too on Main St! (everyone will enjoy the pretzels they have there though, they are amazing!)

    Kaitlynn2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Windy Nest is a delightful place. It was very clean, smelt wonderful, and had all of the amenities that were needed and then some. Ron and Cheri added so many personal touches that really made us feel welcome. The beds, bedding, and towels were all top of the line and super comfortable. We chose to stay in Boonville because it was close to our destination without being too busy. Because we enjoyed our stay so much, and did not have an opportunity to do the walking history tour (book provided by host), or visit some of the boutiques, we will be making it our destination in the near future to do so. Can't say enough great things about our experience. Thank you Ron & Cheri!

    Cheri2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely weekend staying at The Windy Nest!! Right when you walk in, you are greeted by beautiful decor, personal touches, and a sense of warmth. Adorably decorated, comfortable bed, clean bathroom and kitchen equipped with everything we needed and more! The host really went above and beyond to make up feel comfortable and welcome. Located right by Main Street, we were easily able to walk to restaurants and shops. It was a quick drive to visit Rocheport and Columbia. Ronald was a helpful and responsive host who gave us great ideas for what to do/ where to eat in the area. Super easy check in and check out. Would definitely recommend to friends and family and will stay here again if we are in the area!

If you like camping you will enjoy this private 500 sq ft timber frame cabin nestled in the midst of a naturalized garden. Eclectic mix of antique and vintage furniture, art, books. Good reading lights; WiFi; great mattresses! Wood stove. Composting toilet in separate building; outdoor shower. (Shower, interior water are turned off Nov-February due to freezing). Max 3 adults; 2 adults/2 children. Well behaved cat/dogs OK. No events, indoor smoking, candles. Hosts live about 15 minutes away.
I would have thought that my little cabin could be described as “Rustic’- but when I look at other listings that term seems to include many luxury items I can’t offer. So perhaps it would best be described as “primitive with wifi”, “boho grandma chic”, or some other silly term. However we describe our little cabin it provides a simple, beautiful, quiet space at an affordable price. Like camping, but nicer, because at the end of the day there’s a leak-proof roof, a really terrific mattress, and utter privacy. Depending on the season you may wake up to wind in the willow, rain on the metal roof, cacophonous frog song, the tapping of woodpeckers, or the raucous call of a young heron landing on the little pond. (If you want to explore along the Missouri River, access to the Katy Trail for hiking or biking is just a few miles away in Boonville, Rocheport and New Franklin, and the cabin is also near several large hiking areas.) The main room has a double bed and a twin bed. The small exterior bedroom (single bed) has a separate entry from the outside, just off the enclosed brick patio (this set-up might make it unsuitable for some young children). There is also futon on the patio. Woodstove and window AC is available in the main room only; the small bedroom can only be cooled with a fan or heated with an electric heater. The timber frame cabin features 19th century wooden timbers reclaimed from my great-grandparents barn in Iowa, a structure originally built to house draft horses as the railroad was being pushed through the Midwestern prairie-and later locally famous as a venue for country dancing. When the pipes won't freeze (approximately April-November, there is hot/cold water inside the cabin, and a shower outside. If you like cold water in the summertime there’s a large outside tub- and you can fill it up for a cold soak. When the plumbing is turned off during freezing weather there is still water available outside, and and an electric tea pot inside to heat it up quickly. Wood heat in the winter. There is dry wood and area for a campfire outside. The cabin is surrounded by a mix of prairie, native trees, and a naturalized garden of trees, shrubs and perennials. Something is usually blooming- from the first fragrant witch hazel in February to the last asters and sunflowers of fall. No matter the weather you can find shelter from sun or rain along the outside of the cabin: an eastern facing shade structure (outside furniture and a dining table), a Southern ‘picnic’ table area, and a western facing intimate bricked patio just outside the small bedroom (double futon). There’s also a great spot to relax in a hammock under the birch trees. Cooking can be done inside by microwave, electric hotplate, electric skillet, or crockpot. Gas grill outside also has a burner. There is a small refrigerator. When the weather is nice I usually do all my cooking outside on the giant wooden counter. There is a modest supply of utensils, dinnerware, glasses, cups, and pots and pans. There are small amounts of basic supplies for the kitchen: salt, sugar, oil, spices, tea; coffee filters for the mellita cones ( or a one cup electric coffee maker if you prefer) . Outside, if you’re quiet, you might see native rabbits or deer as they sneak in to nibble at our organic garden of vegetables, fruit trees, ornamental shrubs, and flowering perennials. We’ve also seen coyotes, fox, skunk and bobcat in the woods and prairie. The fields are populated by the other usual country critters- squirrels, mice, voles, groundhogs, box turtles, birds, insects, five stripe skinks, and snakes. There's a vocal population of bullfrogs and tree frogs. Hawks nest and raise their young nearby. There are armadillos in the vicinity but so far we’ve haven’t spotted them. From neighboring farms you may hear the sounds of cattle, horses, braying donkeys, or dogs. A few steps from the cabin you can walk up a brief incline and make your way to the quiet green shade of the pond. The property also features a lovely, small spring-fed ‘branch’ on the eastern perimeter, a deep ravine to the north, and opportunities for slow meandering, looking, and thinking. There are good spots for yoga, laughter, conversation, meditating, praying, daydreaming, dancing, painting, reading, napping or writing. There is a wooden yoga/sleeping deck just outside the back door- a great place to sleep under the stars. You can peruse an eclectic selection of books- fiction old and new, and a variety of topics from biology and anatomy to birds, wildflowers, and gardening. We provide towels, sheets, quilts/blankets, and rags for emergency cleaning (mud or spills), and a modest selection of soap and shampoo. On Saturday you can head into Boonville for organic eggs and fresh fruit and vegetables at the small farmer’s market, or drive into Columbia to the much, much larger one. There is a dorm sized refrigerator so if you bring lots of food we encourage you to use a cooler. If the vegetable garden is producing we will hope to provide you with some vegies, fresh herbs, or tomatoes or fruit- and if the timing is right we’ll put some flowers on the kitchen table. Or perhaps you’ll venture out to pick some wildlings from the prairie or the ditches. Our early season vegetable gardening, and some of our fruit production, is done in the field above the cabin (you won’t usually see us but you might hear us laughing as we work up there). We tend the upper garden and the cabin gardens several times weekly, depending on how much watering and weeding is needed but we are respectful of your privacy. If you want to learn more about gardening we always need help and we love to talk organic gardening with anyone who is interested. The cabin is less than five miles from a basic grocery store in Boonville, or about 25 miles from a wide array of international, organic and natural foods in Columbia. Access to the Katy Trail and the Missouri River is nearby. The famous Budweiser draft horses are less than ten minutes away, but book your tour in advance. If you’re from out of state and you want a cultural outing there are many local and regional historical sites, as well as museums in Fayette, Columbia (Museum of Art and Archaeology, and the Boone County Historical Society), Sedalia (the Daum), the St Louis Art Museum, and Kansas City’s Nelson-Atkins Art Institute. If you want to eat out the local choices are wide, from down-home cafes in nearby small towns to upscale wineries (nearby Rocheport) and bistros (Columbia and Rocheport). WHAT WE PROVIDE: Basic dishes, pots and pans. Beds with sheets, pillows, blankets. Towels and washcloths. Toilet paper, soap, shampoo and dish soap. Flashlights. We provide a supply of extra water as protection against loss of electricity or problems with the well (unlikely, but always best to be prepared). We keep small amounts of herbs and spices in the kitchen, along with pepper corns and salt. WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING: Food, sunscreen and mosquito repellent; your preferred lotions and personal care items; camping gear if you want to sleep outside; camp stove if you don’t want to use electric appliances or the grill. Hats. Sturdy shoes and pants if you want to hike through the fields or woods (to protect yourself from poison ivy, chiggers and ticks). When you leave we hope the cabin will be reasonably tidy with damp towels hung on the stainless steel sink or on the rod outside; dishes cleaned, and appliances turned off. We ask that you place compostable material in the compost pile, and that you separate the recyclables from the actual ‘trash’. If you need help with something, we’re about fifteen minutes away. We’re usually in bed before 9 (but up by five or six); texting is a good way to communicate as I don't have email coming to my phone.
This is a rural property with neighbors about 1/2 a mile away in three directions.
  • Diane’s cabin is a lovely and peaceful retreat. Lots of amenities and coziness. The garden, even in winter, provides a bounty of beauty. A special place.

    Sara2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Diane's cabin was perfect for a quiet weekend of solitude in the countryside. It is quiet, cozy, and clean. I would recommend this listing if you're looking to get away from it all (without being too far away from nearby towns) and enjoy peaceful relaxation.

    Rob2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot a little, but not far, off the main road. If you love dark skies, this is a great spot.

    Don2019-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time staying at Diane’s place. It’s perfect for a restful, relaxing weekend in the country. The kitchen was well stocked with all of the necessary essentials, and the bed and linens were very comfortable. Even though it got down into the 20s one night we were there, the wood stove and two electric heaters kept it nice and toasty. We had a lovely time and will most definitely be back in the future!

    John2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for predictable and traditional accommodations, best find a boring road side motel. This is a glamping (glamorous camping) retreat! If that is you expectation, you will be so pleased by all the thoughtful touches and patina. The bed is comfortable surrounded by this snug cabin and we feel asleep instantly to soothing night sounds. When you have to go potty at two in the morning you will have to trek to the outhouse, but the reward will be a black sky with stars so bright you want to stay out all night to admire them. Luckily there is a chase lounge for just that! The Beamis composting toilet is clean and well kept and works wonderfully. The warm outdoor shower is a novelty and it is kind of special to dry off in the morning sun. We recommend a robe and shower shoes in October. The kitchen is serviceable and well equipped to cook on the grill or a cooktop. Pour over coffee and hot tea are wonderfully when you sit listening to bird song and the buzzing of the native garden. Sit in the hammock and read a book, get unplugged, it is a little slice of heaven!

    Phaedra2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot recommend this place enough. Diane was a gracious host. She was so helpful and brought fresh eggs the day we arrived. If I am ever in Boonville again, I am staying with Diane! PS. The stars at night were breathtaking.

Stay in Arrow Rock's oldest home. The Latch House was built in 1829 as a town store house. The home has been lovingly restored with renovations completed in 2018. Beautiful yard and flower garden. The Latch House is centrally located, just one block from the Boardwalk and 3 blocks from the Lyceum Theater. The kitchen has state of the art appliances in it's quirky galley style kitchen. Arrow Rock sit next to a beautiful state park with a visitors center, picnic areas and hiking trails.
The floorboards in the original section of the house were made from flatboat and keelboats that were broken up on the nearby landing of the Missouri River, prior to the saw mills in the county. The historic village of Arrow Rock is an ideal getaway. The town, a National Historic Landmark, evokes the warm spirit of the past and is full of friendly people, great restaurants and shops, and fascinating historical attractions. The adjacent State Park offers hiking trails and a small fishing lake.
  • Bottom line is that you can’t find a better place to stay in Arrow Rock. I dare you to try.

  • We loved this home so much!! It was sparkling clean and very inviting. The sunroom was my favorite!! It’s a great, cozy room to unwind in!! The two upstairs bedroom were a good size and nicely decorated. It also has a good size modern bathroom. This is an old house that was renovated beautifully!! I loved all the furnishings. The location is perfect. We were one short block from town and two short blocks to the wonderful theater!! I would definitely stay here again!!!

  • We had a delightful weekend in Arrow Rock and absolutely loved staying at the Latch House. The pictures represent the house but the minute you walk in the door you have a "ahhhh"...feeling. I looked at our three guests and they all had huge smiles immediately upon arriving. The house was super clean and had everything that we needed. We found interesting touches throughout the house and loved talking about the excellent remodeling effort. We would quite happily stay there again and hope it works out that way!

    Sara2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent space! Super close to Catalpa and the local theater.

    Abigail2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We planned our stay when we scheduled a tour at Warm Springs Ranch. Walking distance to Arrow Rock Historic main street, state park, and visitors center. Recommend checking their events and tours scheduled during your stay. We had a very relaxing time away from the demands of day to day life.

  • Jeremi was super quick to send me the approval for my same day request & all the info I’d need for the loft. The keypad access was really convenient and the space just felt like home. The kitchen has all kinds of utensils, pots, pans and a coffee pot along with a Keurig and a lovely assortment for coffees and teas along with creamer & sugar. The washer and dryer was a lifesaver for me, I travel a lot for work so this was a huge bonus. The loft was beautifully decorated and spacious. Plenty of clean sheets and towels for extended stays as well. Plus the location is fantastic!! There’s a great bakery, Pattycakes, and Jim the Wonder Dog Museum just around the corner.

  • Great place! Clean, updated, quiet. The garden is amazing!

    Gayle2019-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was a fantastic experience! The house is gorgeously furnished and very comfortable. The bathroom was nicer than the great majority of first-class hotels. We had to share it amongst five of us, but we had an entire wing complete with a family room. I’m sure we could have used other bathrooms, but we liked keeping to our wing. And the breakfast? Soooo good! A breakfast casserole, fresh fruit and fruit juices, wonderful coffee and tea. I especially enjoyed the garden and the matching porch swings. What was well beyond expectations was that we were allowed to leave our things and go to a funeral, then come back after checkout time and relax in the garden. That was thoughtful consideration that touched my heart. Claudia was a wonderful host who clearly enjoys sharing her home. Every time I go to Marshall from now on, Claudia’s will be where we will stay.

  • Trey was very responsive when I booked my stay with little notice. Very friendly and helpful neighbors let me in and showed me around. This is a beautiful house, modernized with lots of comfortable upgrades. Very clean and nice. Claudia made an UNBELIEVABLE breakfast for me and provided wonderful conversation. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and will certainly return next time I have business meetings in the area.

This is a brand new Hunting Lodge that was just finished in the fall of 2018. It has a beautiful setting with lots of cedar on the walls. The outside entrance has cedar logs to accent the front. It is surrounded with trees and a quiet space with a long row of Oak Trees down the lane that lead to the lodge. They look great year round. The concrete patio around the outside has a table and chairs to enjoy the outdoor experience. A cedar log fence adds to the atmosphere along with a fire pit.
There is also a vaulted ceiling and several mounts setting around to add to the atmosphere of the lodge. We have a full kitchen that guests can use. There is a large screen TV in the main living area with a DVD player. There is always the possibly that you will see some type of wildlife as we are located in rural area. We have walking trails you can enjoy and a two acre lake. You can also see the cattle grazing in the pastures. It is very peaceful. We also have hunts available for Deer and Turkey during the hunting season.
Carrollton has a beautiful park with a walking trail, and a swimming pool open in the summer months. If you do not want to do your own cooking there are several nice restaurants in nearby Carrollton from Chinese to Mexican to Burgers and even a very nice steakhouse. We also have a brewery with homemade pizza.
  • Great get away and very clean and updated.

The facilities are new, nice, clean. The location is beautiful quiet country-great for a real getaway! Our grandsons were excited to catch some big bass in the pond-so fun:) We have some great memories from our time here and recommend it for family time as well as a hunting lodge.

  • Debbie and her husband were so welcoming! The pictures don't let you feel the warm and welcoming vibe we got!! We enjoyed the lake and dock! The breakfasts were amazing!!

    Christine2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fabulous home on a beautiful piece of property- even has beautiful clean stocked pond for swimming & fishing. We were welcomed like family & treated like honored guests. We came strangers & in 24hrs left feeling like friends. Debbie could not have been a more gracious host. She's happy telling you all about the farm & town or giving privacy to do your own thing. She made special "solar eclipse" goody bags for us as that was what we came for. It was a girls trip but we both plan to take our families back there as we had so much fun!

  • We really liked this place. It was clean and had a really nice appeal to it. The beds were comfortable and the location was extremely peaceful. We were able to relax and play games and enjoy each other. I would suggest that if any guest is needing/expecting wi-fi since it is listed as an amenity, please check with the host to ensure the wi-fi is properly working. We did see a wi-fi signal, but could not get it to work. Host was responsive and said he would have the Geek Squad come out and work on it. Great place!
