  • Booked Karen's annexe for my parents anniversary, they loved the place! Beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean with many thoughtful touches. A short flat walk into Holmfirth and a (slightly steeper) walk to the Holmfirth vineyard the place couldn't be better sited. Highly recommended.

I live close to both train and bus stops. The train runs twice an hour and is 6 mins to Meadowhall 12 to Sheffield. The bus runs every 10 mins and takes about 30 mins. I am 10 mins from Motorway. The room is a guestroom. I am retired. Access to my property is down the side of number 4. I am near Asda .There are several places to eat 5 mins walk away. Tankersley Manor Hotel There parking on the street and I have WIFI
My place is a stone cottage slightly hidden. My main entrance is around the back. The cottage is small but comfortable.
The neighbourhood is quiet with lots of places to eat. There is a large Asda for any shopping. Sussex Road is a small Road and is used as a through fare at peak times but there is usually plenty of car parking available.
  • Lovely host and the place to stay !

  • Ann's home is cosy, warm and just whats needed when travelling as much as I do. Ann is chatty and friendly and by the end of a lovely evening I slept superbly, which is rarely the case. The facilities in the home are excellent, spotlessly clean and comfy. I would definitely stay again.

  • It’s a great place. Ann is an amazing host. The place is clean and cozy. Very close to the train station and town, where there are shops. I definitely recommend it this place.

*Flexible cancellation recently added to prevent spread of Coronavirus. Property professionally deep cleaned before and after every booking* Beautiful cottage situated in Thurlstone, near Holmfirth/Sheffield/Peak District. Great for walks/cycling. Swedish Massage/Reflexology available to book. Ideal for a relaxing break. No TV channels but loads of DVD's, books, WIFI, Echo Dot. Chromecast/HDMI to run apps such as iPlayer/Netflix through your device. 5 min walk to pub, 1 to bakery.
It's one of the smallest dwellings in Thurlstone, which isn't a bad thing as it's just perfect for 1-3 guests and easy to keep warm and cosy. A quiet little under-dwelling with loads of character and a pretty, rural view. The building is listed, built in 1840, plenty of roadside parking.
Thurlstone is a quiet country town with a pub, free roadside parking, a small shop and lots of walks. Penistone is a market town and just 20 minutes away by foot. The award winning Huntsman Pub is a short stroll away, it's very popular with real ale drinkers and does amazing Sunday dinners and homemade pies. The new Fox Valley Mall is located nearby, it has plenty of shops and various restaurants. 10 minute drive. Also a 15 minute walk from the house is an Italian restaurant based in an old blacksmith forge (Tiamo) I think it is very good, fairly expensive (but quality) specials and reasonably priced pizza and pasta with 241 on Sundays and Tuesdays. Across the road from this is an Indian restaurant, very tasty food and reasonable prices (Taste of India). The White Hart is a highly rated pub/wine bar situated between and also does food. The Trans Pennines trail (five mins from my cottage) is perfect for biking and walking. You can rent bikes on the trail, half a day for £18. Or you can rent my city bike, helmet and lock for £10 a day. Langsett Resevoir is a very picturesque walk with a pub and cafe at its base, it's a 40 minute walk to get there, or five minute drive (recommended) Cannon Hall and Cawthorne Park is a ten minute drive away. Recommended!! The Yorkshire Sculpture Park is also close for drivers.
  • We had a lovely stay. Everything was easy to find and clean. It was quiet, beautifully decorated and the bed was very comfy!

    Valentina2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfectly clean and excellently maintained. The location was great and we felt surrounded by nature but still had amenities. A lovely cosey hideaway.

    David2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place with a gorgeous cottage feel and arty decor. We had everything we needed and were well set up for cooking our meals there. The bed was very comfortable and finishing the trip with a lovely Swedish massage from our host Kirsty was fantastic. She was very friendly and accommodating and great with communication. Highly recommend!

    Alice2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place to stay, very relaxing And clean. Everything was easy. Thank you

    Helen2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Kirsty's cosy cottage is a little gem of a find! We loved the fact it didn't have television - not really a fan of television anyway but you can connect the HDMI cable that's provided if you want to watch stuff. Loved that you can spend time here and connect with one another (quite literally!) we played connect 4! We played some other games, we read interesting books, there's a huge array of books all very interesting (Sheffield Gang Wars amongst others) The pictures on the wall - all make an interesting discussion. I love how the place has been decorated. Thoughtful touches - breakfast in the fridge, thoughtful handwritten (I LOVE handwritten stuff being a writer myself) messages everywhere, the tree of positivity, the map of shipwrecks in the bathroom. As soon as you walk in, the vibe is positive and relaxed. There's an Alexa which we've never used before and found that quite hilarious - you can ask for a daily trivia quiz which we did and a nightly music quiz. There's a friendly and welcoming pub 5 minutes up the road that serves great ales and nice food - a pub the way it should be! Really good value for money. Last but not least!! Kirsty, as a host, is lovely and welcoming. I booked a full Swedish massage with reflexology an hour and a half and it was excellent value for money and pure relaxation (and included a foot spa!) I highly recommend having one of the treatments if you stay here. We will be back :D

    Simone2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cute space in a good location with easy parking and easy access to a supermarket. Had all the amenities. Check in was easy. Def recommend.

    Gimo2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Kirsty's place was a beautiful cosy cottage to explore this part of the world. The village and surrounding area are very picturesque with lots of beautiful landscapes, pubs and walks to explore. Highly recommended.

    Leon2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is absolutely perfect. It is small, cozy and full of character. When we arrived in the evening, lights had been left on and it was friendly and welcoming. It was lovely and quiet in the area which was what we had wanted. It had everything that we needed whilst we were there. The bed was super comfortable, the kitchen jam packed with pots, pans and knick knacks and we loved the selection of dvds and music available. The pub up the road was really nice too and worth a visit. It’s a great base for getting out and about in the area.

  • Lovely, homely space with a wonderful log burner which made me feel very cosy.

  • Emma and Stuart's annex is a cozy cottage in their back courtyard. Even though we were in the middle of some proper winter storms the space was cozy and warm, and spending the evening next to the woodburner with a glass of wine in hand was a particular delight. Fully appointed with kitchen and separate bathroom mean a couple of people could easily be at home here for an extended stay. Highly recommended, will definitely use next time I'm in the area. Warm and friendly hosts.

    Alastair2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cosy little Annex, right next to Wombwell woods, all the special touches like, toiletries & basic food essentials were a lovely treat. The log burner was great as it was cold, even though there's central heating it was still nice to be besides a natural fire. Emma was very informative and had thought of everything to ensure our stay was comfortable. I would recommend a stay here if you want a peaceful place to recharge this is definitely for you.

  • Heath was a fantastic host! From the moment of booking we were contacted within the hour with details of checking in and directions etc. Heath kept in contact each step of the way, this was our first airbnb stay, so didn't know what to expect, but Heath pulled out all the stops to make our night away a pleasure. The cottage is a little hidden gem and ultra cosy! We had just the one nights stay and felt like it was a home away from home, everything clean and sparkling. We specifically loved the artwork throughout the house, along with an array of books and games that kept us entertained on a dark winters night. Everything was perfect, a testament to a good host. We hope to stay again in the future! Ashley and Katie

    Ashley2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a find. A very quirky, rustic place of tranquility. A very warm and cosy place in spite of the wind and some rain. Everything you need ( in fact more than enough Dvds, games and books ) . Some great walks locally and 2 great pubs. I ate at the Red Lion which was cosy, friendly and good pub food.

    Jan2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay and Heath is a brilliant host, with excellent local knowledge. We loved our stay here and would love to come back again

    Mark2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Only had one night at heaths but I loved it! The cottage is full of interesting bits and pieces. Lots of interesting books to browse and a well equipped kitchen. Heath is only round the corner for any questions and you might be lucky and get his cat as a visitor! The place is so quaint and charming. There is a pub literally down the lane but I did not get chance to check it out. If you like a walk/run I did a great 10k loop round digley reservoir which is only 10mins drive away. I will definitely be back with more time to explore.

    Sam2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • An amazingly quirky place to stay. From the decor to the animals, Heath's property is quite an experience. He's exceedingly helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Could have easily spent weeks here with how much there is to do in the surrounding area. Holmfirth is full of great food, views, and experiences. Not a dull moment here! Thanks for a great stay, we'll have to come back soon!

    Kyle2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved our stay! The cottage is beautiful with lovely rustic features like exposed brick throughout the cottage. Heath is a great host and made us feel very at home. The cottage has a really cosy feel to it and is easily heated. It's within walking distance of the local pubs and thanks to a recommendation from Heath, we had a lovely meal in The Red Lion. We will definitely be back!

    Lauren2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • We couldn't have asked for a better stay. A beautiful little treasure of a home with so many books, games and ornaments to look at. You can really tell that a lot of love has gone into this. The furniture matches beautifully with the style of the cottage and everything was very cosy. We were so impressed! Fantastic location too with gorgeous views all around. Heath was friendly and gave some great tips for food (the Carding Shed was fab!) and for things to see and do! Haven't enough good things to say about the whole stay!

    Erica2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Heath’s cottage is just lovely! Cosy, quirky and full of treasures. It’s ideally placed to explore the stunning local area, including Holmfirth. There are various dog friendly pubs just round the corner too. Heath has plenty of tips for where to go and to eat and has stocked the cottage with dvds and games to keep you entertained. All in all we had a great trip and would definitely return. ☺️

  • Unique retreat, great surroundings - just a 20 minute walk to Yorkshire Sculpture Park. We had a very relaxed stay, kitchen was well stocked and having Netflix was a great addition for a cosy night in.

  • Beautiful place to stay or retreat. A real calm place... lovingly furnished and with everyone one could ever possibly need! We stayed for a family break but it would be the perfect place for a quiet weekend away or retreat.

  • Idyllic indeed. With lovely hosts and a grand building. A perfect quiet weekend getaway to ramble around Yorkshire and do things at an easy pace.

  • This is an AMAZING property beautifully located and just great place to have down time. Some lovely walks, the bed is super comfy even equipped with electric blanket! Tina & Jasper are always at hand to answer any questions that you have too. There was lots of nice touches, with fruit left, yogurts, cereal for us to eat. The stain glassed window above the bed is a wow factor and when the sun shines through ..make sure you have your camera on the ready! We enjoyed it very much, we visited the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, walked to the pub & back for nice Sunday dinner. We also went to the Thai restaurant in Shafton, nothing to look at from the outside, plus you have to walk through the pub to get to the restaurant but wow the flavours were amazing ( the lady chef used to cook for the Prince apparently in Thailand ) Really pleased we got the chance to stay at this place, a little different then your average weekend away! Thank you 🙏🏽

  • Christina and Jasper were kind, generous and attentive hosts. Just the right amount of attention. There as and when you needed them. The accomodation was quirky, comfortable and had everything you needed and more. Location was fantastic with loads of local attractions nearby or rural walks if that's your preference. Was exactly as you see in the photos. I would recommend it.

    Rebecca2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • A really unique place. Perched at the top of the Yorkshire hills, we were perfectly placed for the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in an incredible converted room, unlike anything I've previously stayed in. The hosts Christina and Jasper were fantastic from start to finish. One of our best and most interesting experiences on airbnb, wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

  • We had an amazing weekend staying at the church. The place is ideally located in a beautiful town. If you are looking for a time off and a peaceful holiday or just to refresh yourself from the busy life, this is the place to go. Excellent and friendly hosts too. Jasper and Tina are always helpful with recommendations around the town. Highly recommended.

Situated at the very centre of the UK in Pennine Yorkshire, this stylish Victorian property is set in beautiful private grounds adjacent to a wood which is home to two Tawny Owls, a family of hedgehogs, a colony of bats and even the odd woodpecker. Yet with access to the M1 just a mile away and York, Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester less than 50 minutes away, this is a great place to stay and explore or simply to use as a stopover; halfway between London and Scotland or for visitors to Oakwell.
Beautiful Victorian rooms including this attic suite with double bed and a separate single annex. For larger groups we have a selection of other rooms too so please enquire.
A very quiet rural space at the edge of Barnsley in Pennine Yorkshire, with the town centre and railway station just 10 minutes walk and the football ground 20 minutes walk. Located within metres of the Trans-Pennine Trail the location offers fabulous opportunities to cycle or walk. For motorists there is free off-road parking and the M1 motorway is 1 mile away, providing an exceptional gateway to Yorkshire; both the rural beauty spots and the urban centres of Leeds, Sheffield, Wakefield and York
  • I returned here again after a great stay previously. It was the first time I met Phil as they were away previously but their hospitality was as fabulous as cohost Jo. They were flexible with check in to accommodate my needs, super at communication and keeping in touch, even checking i’d managed a meal at meal. The house is large but homely and despite being alone on both stays now I felt safe and secure. Bed comfortable and shower amazing. It’s a perfect stay for anyone working at the hospital. Close enough to not feel you waste time commuting but far enough to feel you left for the night ....

    Katrina2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • It's a huge house. I had the place to myself. Individual rooms have locks to lock yourself in. It's basic, but this has to be reflected in the price and this was very cheap.

    Mark2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Pam and Phil were both so friendly. Phil had really thought of the special touches, having his own made jam and some eggs for me to have on toast. He also had some local tip such as places to eat and the best way to get to my interview. They even put me in a better room as it was available. Would love to stay again.

    Emilie2019-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • Phil and Pam were the perfect hosts, accommodating us and going above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and catered for. The house is spotless, comfortable and the garden and little wood it sits in are just lovely. There are even hedgehogs. Phil’s homemade jam was a particular highlight! Would highly recommend, especially as a stop over en route from London Scotland as we did. Thanks again Phil and Pam for a lovely stay

    Sarah And Joe2018-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Pam and Phil are lovely hosts. I felt like part of the family rather than a guest. Great location very near to the hospital where I was working and to Town, but surrounded by woodland it feels like the countryside.

A first floor apartment with nobody below (archway apartment) and nobody above. Set just above Holmfirth, this uniquely designed apartment gives you all the benefits of a house in an easy to manage apartment space. With off road parking and access to Yorkshire and the surrounding counties, it makes the perfect choice for both business commuters and holidaymakers alike. Motorways: the M1 is 10 mins east; the M62 is 20 mins to the north. Go West, and the M60 around Manchester is just 30 mins away
“Hill Top Apartment” is based on two guests in the main bedroom on a double bed. A further two can be accommodated in the living area on the double sofa bed. There is also the option of a further single pull-put bed, which can be set up alongside the double bed in the master bedroom (the extra guests are charged per person, per night). The house has one large family bathroom. We are dog-friendly! We only ask that pooches don’t venture into the master bedroom:) We do have clean dog beds available to you if you need them, though; just let us know:) If you’re cyclists, then there is also the option of a secure storage space downstairs for bikes.
Sitting in the heart of the breath-taking Holme Valley, this picture-postcard town is popular with walkers, cyclists and wildlife lovers alike. Holmfirth is the renowned location of the TV classic Last of the Summer Wine, and the acclaimed live music venue, The Picturedrome, a century-old picture house that stages touring bands throughout the year.
  • This was a well equipped, clean and tidy apartment. The heating was excellent (especially welcome as there was a storm outside) and we enjoyed our two days there. Plenty of places for dog walking when the rain stopped!

  • My dogs and I travelled all the way from Devon to stay at Philip and Emma's place. It was sparkling clean when we arrived and very warm too. The property was easy to find using a sat nav. The parking facilities are great too - this property offers off road private parking. The area was lovely - clean and friendly and there was a field opposite, suitable for walking my dogs in. The kitchen was well equipped. The towels were large and fluffy and the bedroom was very comfortable. I would definitely recommend a stay here and intend to visit again soon.

  • Once again we were very happy to stay at this lovely apartment. It's perfect for our needs and Peter is always quick to respond and happy to help with my specific requirements. No doubt we will be staying again in the future. Highly recommended.

  • The guest house is a private and quiet retreat. The description on the website is accurate. The accommodation was warm (we went in December) clean and cosy. It was also remarkably quiet. We parked our car in the one described and it was very convenient. Peter was quick to respond to our queries and very helpful.

    Jenny2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was perfect for our stay! Very cute & easy access! Thank you for having us.

  • This was my first experience of staying in an AirBnB and I must say it was a lovely one. The check in process was simple and straightforward, Peter was excellent in communication, and any of my needs were seen to immediately. The cottage is in the back garden of their house with a large and secure locked gate in between, so security is fantastic. There is plenty of free car parking around and it is quite secure. The area itself is a nice one and everyone is very friendly. The cottage, though small, is more than enough for one person for a short stay. The whole place was spotless on my arrival and I endeavoured to leave it this way on my check-out. Bathroom is modern and the shower was amazing, just what I needed after a tough day at work! Lovely fresh linen, plenty of soft towels and floor mats as well. Heating was slightly erratic during my stay but this can be remotely fixed by the hosts. Literally the only downside to this place was the WiFi which was extremely slow and in most of the cottage barely one bar of signal was available. As there is no TV, I tried to stream programmes via my laptop but this was almost impossible due to the slow WiFi speeds. If this could be upgraded, then this cottage would be absolutely ideal. Due to the surrounding trees, mobile signal isn’t the best, but you usually manage to make calls fairly easily. Overall, a pleasant experience and would stay again (if the WiFi was sorted!)

Mallard is a traditional underdwelling with wonderful original features including beams and barrelled ceilings. It is tucked away high above the river, reached directly by a path and has a lovely view from its own garden to the sheltered woodland beyond. The private hot-tub is available for an additional cost. Exclusive use of the owners private heated indoor swimming pool, spa bath and sauna is also available for an additional charge, subject to availability.
Mallard is in a quiet conservation area and is only suitable for people who are willing to be respectful of the peaceful nature of the setting. Mallard has both a small kitchen and small separate dining room with a unique barelled ceiling. It is a spacious cottage for two adults with a large sitting room and bedroom with delightful views over the garden and beyond. The hot tub (optional charges apply see below) has a wonderful view out over the garden to the countryside beyond. The garden is very quiet, the only noise is from the river rushing far below when it is in full flood. Because it is so quiet, noise carries easily, so the cottage is only suitable for people who are prepared to respect the quiet conservation area and keep it quiet. We have had complaints from the neighbours on the main road that some guests have been very noisy too late at night. Guests guilty of this in future will be asked to leave immediately. The master bedroom is very spacious and has a super king size bed (6') and an en-suite shower room. The second bedroom is very, very small and is accessed through the master bedroom, so it was originally intended to be a dressing room or study. There is just room for a small bed and bedside table as you can see in the photos, there is no storage space. It is suitable for a child, or two small children, or an adult who is good friends and willing to share the dressing, storage space & en-suite with the occupant/s of the master bedroom. Swimming pool There is also the option (additional charges apply) for exclusive use of the owners private indoor swimming pool. The pool is heated to 32 degrees Celsius. It is 8mx5m (26’3”x16’5”) and has a 2m deep end. The swimming pool is located in a converted barn and has views out over the owners field to the Peak District moors beyond. In the swimming pool room there is also an indoor spa bath. In the adjacent changing room there is also a sauna - if guests hire the pool, both are also available for £3 each for 30 minutes. Guests of Your Yorkshire Time - Holmfirth Hot-tub Heaven (Eider, Mallard, Shelduck & Teal) can book the pool for their exclusive use for 75 minutes for the discounted rate of £30, or £60 for two hours 30 minutes. The swimming pool is situated at your hosts own home, 8 miles south of Holmfirth. The drive from Holmfirth to the swimming pool provides spectacular views of the Peak District. There are separate house rules for the swimming pool. Use of the pool is subject to availability. Please book early to avoid disappointment. To do so send an Airbnb message with your preferred time/s and dates.
Holmfirth is a quirky village, as woderfully showcased in the TV series Last of the Summer Wine. It is ideal for hikers and cyclists, but also for people who want to wander its quaint cobbled streets and enjoy the market and numerous shops, pubs and restaurants and other attractions. There is also a live music venue - the Picturedrome. The centre of the village is a ten minute walk down hill from the cottage. The walks can be accessed right from the door. Holme Moss with its spectacular views is the steepest climb on the Yorkshire section of the Tour de France and is a short cyle ride / drive away. The river running through the village always has lots of ducks to feed and there is the famous annual Holmfirth Duck race and many annual festivals including the Festival of Folk, the Arts Festival and the Food and Drink Festival.

*** THE PERFECT PLACE FOR SOCIAL DISTANCE IN THE COUNTRYSIDE*** We are taking this Corvid 19 situation very seriously. Due to this we now have air purifiers and a very strict cleansing program taking 24 hours after each guest. So stay with confidence and luxury in our barn. With stone fireplace complete with log burner. Throughout the property are timber beams, the feel is a cozy lodge/barn. Darton. J37 m1 2mins J38 m1 2mins Barnsley 4mins Leeds 18mins The Sculpture Park is 2 mins away .
***** THE PERFECT BREAK FOR A FRIENDS OR FAMILY GET TO SOCIAL DISTANCE ***** Why choose the “Barn” to stay ? WE ARE TAKING THE C VIRUS VERY SERIOUSLY . For this reason we have now fitted an air purifier . See details at the bottom . Our custom made dining table easily seats 10 for the perfect family . If you require a extra special place to stay, Then you’ve found your perfect home ! On arrival you will be greeted buy your gift basket full of goodies and I think the mrs is also putting alcohol in there these days . We’ve now been on air Bnb over 2 years with 5 star reviews , please read the reviews as they say it all. You will not find another home on Airbnb as unique and we are proud of that . Yes we are probably the higher end of pricing spectrum but we have much more than the average listing. It’s Laura Ashley meets hundreds of years old architecture and features. Yet when you get in off those Yorkshire moors after a hard days walk and feel the underfloor heating on your cold feet . You’ll know you’ve all the mod cons of a new home. We also have a professional trampoline dug into the ground that is suitable for adults and children. A brand new hot tub is in the garden, it’s perfect for unwinding after a hard day. We advise hot tub hours are 10am-8pm. Plastic glasses are provided for outdoor use. (we do have a safety booklet with regards to the hot tub. If you have any health problems or you are pregnant we would recommend seeking medical advice before using the hot tub, children under 4 should not be allowed to use the hot tub). We are in a small barn complex, with a green field and acre communal pond outlook . Galloping horses being the most common sight out of our full height windows. Although please keep an eye out for the resident family of kingfishers , a couple of illusive Canada geese , if you hear the odd screech it's our seasonal little owl , a tree creeper and half a dozen wild yet resident mallard . ( a pair of Roe deer are now a rare sighting but are now on the land out front) There’s a chiminea and picnic bench in the communal 1 acre pond area and an half barrel BBQ and chiminea in our garden too . This would also double as a small fire pit . We have apple tv in our very spacious living room, as well as a piano (potentially out of tune!), the fireplace beam is a 600 year old ships timber . The main wall in the living room dates back to the 1500's... intrigued yet? The main home of the complex and original farm in mentioned in the doomsday book. Most our floors are either solid oak or period stone / limestone in our well equipped kitchen . All heated under floor. The master suite has a king size bed and en suite. 2 other bedrooms have double beds. The fourth bedroom is a twin room which is on the curtained mezzanine level. If you would like more information please contact us. Travel cot and / or a full size wooden can be provided. We also have high chairs, stair gates, baby monitor etc. we aim to make your traveling experience as stress free as possible! Please note, indoors is strictly non smoking. Evidence of smoking in the house will incur a substantial fee. There is plenty of outdoor space should guests wish to smoke, we politely request the gardens and surrounding areas aren’t littered with butts, we host many families with small children and pets. We are non smokers and do not feel we should pick up other people’s cigarette ends. In the very local vicinity (10 minutes walk) we have 4 fantastic pubs, see brochure in house for details. In the village there is a post office, mini supermarket, Chinese, 2 indian restaurants , pizza and thai restaurant / takeaway, pharmacy and the local hospital is less than a 10 minute drive (hopefully you wont need to see the latter). There are also nice villages around Darton, Mapplewell has some nice pubs, but Cawthorne is an area that has won awards and had a lovely pub (Spencers arms) and a huge park / country home / working farm (Cannon Hall farm see pictures ). Other attractions include the Yorkshire Sculpture Park (5 minute away) and the National Coal Mining Musuem to name a couple. We are more or less sat on the M1 corridor therefore should you need to go any further there are easily accessible transport links. It seems a lot of guests are meeting centrally in the country for get togethers . But don’t forget this local area has much much more to offer too . Getting here buy train could not be easier with London just over 2hours 15 mins away by train . Darton station is the closest 5 min walk from ours. Barnsley next closest 5 min taxi £5 ish Wakefield is £16 in taxi ish and about 15 mins . Sheffield a little bit further . There were so many lovely small touches that really made our trip special, like a welcome hamper (Prosecco and chocolate!) rolled towels, a warm house with a cosy fire place! Everything was absolutely perfect and felt just like home (but even better!) I would definitely recommend this place for any kind of getaway, whether that be with the family or friends. Thankyou so much for hosting us. The Shannon Family.

  • Had a great weekend- it's a lovely, stylish, comfortable and well equipped house. It had everything we needed and the hot tub was fab. It was easy to get to even without a car, we got a train to the local village, then a 10-15 min walk to the house, with a number of nice pubs a similar walk away. I'd definitely recommend for a big group of friends, or for families as they had plenty of kids equipment too.

  • A fantastic, well kitted out cottage. This is definitely a place where you can escape to. Given the size of cottage and amenities, we were very happy to spend time there without the urge to 'get out and about', and when we did go out to explore the area, we were all very happy to go back and chill out there. The kitchen was well kitted out also; we cooked every night, and didn't lack any utensils / equipment. The host was very welcoming and easy to communicate with, and even greeted us with a personalised hamper. The jacuzzi and log burner was also ready to go, and the host happy to provide additional fire lighters etc. when asked. This is definitely a 5 star experience as we normally find with airbnb. Would happily recommend to others.

Our cosy little cottage is located in the tranquil village of Hepworth, on the edge of the Peak District and perfect for those wanting to take a break in the countryside. Surrounded by great views, scenic walks and many biking trails. Close to the pretty town of Holmfirth, more famously known for last of the summer wine and packed with a large variety of wine bars, pubs and good restaurants. The cottage is ideal for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers and biking/hiking enthusiasts.
Stonewell cottage has a private garden at the front with wonderful views. There is s cosy living area with a log burning stove and an adjoining fully equipped kitchen. On the first floor is a bright double bedroom with a fabulous en suite and large walk-in shower. The cottage is completely private but attached to our family home so we are never too far away if you need help with anything.
Village shop a short walk away for basic provisions. Walking distance to several country pubs. Two miles from Holmfirth centre, home to many bars and restaurants, as well as the popular Picturedrome venue which attracts an array of musical and sporting events. For those wanting to venture further afield - Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield are all within 50 minutes drive of the cottage.
  • I can’t recommend this house enough. It was one of the best Stay ever. The house is super clean and very cosy. It has everything you need for a perfect stay. The indoor fire place is so nice that we didn’t want to leave the house. It’s in a very quiet area, but there are some local pubs nearby and it’s not far from a lot of attractions. It’s a very safe place to stay. Alexes and Jonathan are perfect hosts and very friendly. I definitely recommend this place.

  • This cottage is very comfortable, well thought out with many thoughtful little touches. We enjoyed a two night stay and felt so at ease here. Eating one night in Holmfirth and the other delicious fish and chips from scholes in the cottage. It was a relaxing time and would certainly recommend. Very comfortable bed and a beautiful view when pulling back the curtains in the mornings! Absolutely fabulous!

    Rosie2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy little cottage with a fantastic wood burning stove. Very comfy bed and an amazing bath room! Lovely little touches include DVD's, Sky, umbrellas and shampoo and conditioner. The hosts even left us milk so we could have a cupper when we arrived.

    Vickie2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice place to stay not a long drive to amazing walks in the Peak District and a few great pubs in walking distance from the cottage

  • Very nice cottage in a super location.

    Steve2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is beautiful and the local town has a lot of restaurants and bars around. There are a few car parks in town so no need to be too careful about taking the car. If you are a dog owner, you will love that there are a lot of pubs and cafes that allow dogs inside. Not all, just a word of warning before you walk in. Our favourite pub (Butchers Arms) which is literally five minutes walk up the hill will allow dogs and has fireplaces to give that cosy feel. We were very lucky to be allowed to check in early and we were greeted by Alexes the owner. We are appreciative that they were accommodating to the last detail. The fireplace was ready for use and there was milk, shortbread, and two beers in the fridge. Unlike most hosts, they will allow you to get settled and leave you to enjoy your holiday to you despite living next door. If you are looking for a place to stay, my fiance and I would very much recommend here. We look forward to returning as soon as possible.

  • We absolutely loved our stay in this cosy little cottage and didn’t want to leave! Being able to take our dog was a great bonus and she loved the log burner just as much as we did! Accurate photos and description and the place was spotless - we would thoroughly recommend!

  • The house was cosy and warm and perfect for our needs. We booked last minute as our home had been damaged in the flood and we needed somewhere to stay for the night. Andrea was very accommodating and went out of her way to allow us access late at night. The welcome basket was a treat and I couldn’t fault the house. Decoration is modern and everything had been given thought to. Oh and the WIFI signal is excellent. Hopefully we would not need to stay here again but would definitely return if we had to.

  • I stayed here for a month whilst I was working in Sheffield and can say it’s been the best experience I’ve had so far with air bnb. Malcolm and Pauline were incredibly welcoming and left me to do as I wanted for the stay. The place is stunning, spotless with all the amenities you’ll need for a stay of any length. As mentioned in another review, it’s actually a fair bit bigger than it looks in the pictures. There’s a lot of space. As a keen cyclist there was plenty of room to leave my bikes securely in the garage below the flat and you’re just a few minutes away from some truly epic climbs. The scenery is spectacular and I completely fell in love with the view from the flat (sitting in the warmth with a cuppa looking out at the snow over the hills is incredibly satisfying). Very sad to leave but very much looking forward to coming back in a few weeks time for another visit.

    William2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This lovely little (actually bigger than expected) setup is located in a quiet area with an amazing view. Having a full studio flat setup makes you feel like you can stay in and be comfortable or go out - either way you use it will definitely be a winner. Really clean and everything you will need is already waiting for you (including milk in the fridge!)

A lovely double room overlooking woods half a mile from the centre of the market town of Holmfirth. English breakfast included and access to a private lounge with woodburner and door straight out into the garden.
This is a cosy double room with a wooden floor and original cast iron fireplace dating back to the 1880s. The window overlooks the garden, woods and stream beyond and still has the original wooden shutters. The room is quiet and dark at night (no ambient street light). There are old wooden beams, one of which is carved by local artist Mick Kirkby Geddes. Antique, but comfortable double bed with feather topper, chair, chest of drawers, wardrobe and dressing table. The room is part of our house so you will be sharing the main house bathroom, which includes a bath and drencher shower. (We do have other toilet facilities downstairs if there is a logjam!)
Holmfirth is a small market town, tucked into the foothills of the Pennines and about 5 miles from the centre of Huddersfield. The town is well known as the location for the popular TV series ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ and visitors take advantage of the classic Summer Wine tours around the area in a vintage bus. There are many excellent restaurants in Holmfirth (Indian, tapas, Italian, French) and the fabulous Picturedrome (www.picturedrome.net) – home to a range of concerts and tribute bands. Throughout the year there are many festivals - including Holmfirth Festival of Folk (early May); Holmfirth Film Festival (late May); Holmfirth Arts Festival (mid-June); Holmfirth Artweek (early July) and the Festival of Food in September. We are also 30 minutes drive from the award winning Yorkshire Sculpture Park ( www.ysp.co.uk) and 40 minutes from the Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield (www.hepworthwakefield.org). The walking is varied and beautiful and it is possible to walk out of the door of our house and straight up into the hills.
  • Lovely stay, you won’t find better for the price.

Lovely family room with private en-suite that provides ideal accommodation for 2 adults and two children (on the exciting mezzanine level accessed by steps!!) With lovely woodland adjacent to the property yet all local amenities just minutes away, this is a perfect countryside oasis in an urban setting.
Guests are welcome to use the Lounge and the Snooker Room, as well as the fully equipped kitchen where meals can be prepared and eaten in the dining room. The gardens and woodland are home to squirrels, hedgehogs, bats and woodpeckers and are a lovely setting for young families to explore.
Our home is just 5 minutes walk from the hospital (ideal for medical practitioners), and is 10 minutes walk from the town centre, railway station and Interchange. It’s a lovely rural oasis in the middle of an urban setting just 1 mile from Junction 37 of the M1, with free off road parking and electric gates.

Beautiful quirky cottage right in the heart of Holmfirth, which has been made famous through 'last of the summer wine' Our cottage has under floor heating in the lounge and top floor (Bedrooms and Bathroom) Their is a Netflix account set up for the cosy nights in next to the wood burner. The kitchen has been restored to its original features and has a working gas AGA which ensures a warm homely feeling at all times. A parking space for 1 car is available at the property as well as an outdoor seating area where you can enjoy the afternoon/early evening sun with a glass of vino. You have a number of excellent restaurants and bars a stone's throw away and the famous Sid's cafe is only a few doors down! We hope you love your stay in Holmfirth Paul and Amy
Our 1800 cottage has been renovated to a high standard throughout whilst ensuring we carefully preserved the original features, you will see the old beams in the vaulted ceilings on the top floor along with an inset mirror in the bathroom which was previously a window prior to the cottages forming a terrace row. The wood burner in the lounge has a top oven which is ideal for roasting chestnuts whilst sipping mulled wine. The kitchen is the heart of the home with an AGA which ensures a warm welcome every time.

  • At Claire cute annex, you can expect nothing but perfection. Claire is a great host and nothing was too much trouble. It was exactly where we wanted to be.The place was spotlessly clean, cosy and the views were wonderful. We will return. Highly recommended

    Jane2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The annex is so beautiful and amazing furnished! Claire is such a thoughtful host, alongside her husband - there was chocolate buttons left for us along side crumpets, milk, pastries ect. The annex was lovely a private, so we could have our alone time. I cannot not emphasise how lovely this was! We was also able to stay longer as there was no one staying there the next night which allowed us to look around Holmfirth. Would 1000% recommend this lovely place to anyone! Thank you so much - chloe and reef x

  • A great place for a stay in Holmfirth and the surrounding area. A fantastic view across the fields of the Holme valley. We only had a short stay but would happily go back for longer. Claire was a great host, she welcomed us and responded quickly to queries, but otherwise left us to our own devices.

    Chris2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great place just 5 min walk from central Holmfirth. Amazing views, as well!

  • Very nice stay Lovely apartment

    Ian2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Claire is an excellent host! She was incredibly friendly and helped us with all our requests. Communication was superb! This gorgeous place is a lot more spacious than you think. Claire is so generous and left out pastries, cereal bars, cereal boxes, a small smoothie for our young one and much more! We loved our stay and we'd definitely come back, next time we're in Holmfirth. Thank you so much for having us. Top tip: If you're not an experienced driver / Parker, you're best to park road side, but, if you can handle it, the drive is very convenient and so close to the entrance! Thanks again Claire. This really was one of our best Airbnb stays.

    Magnus2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Claire is an exceptional host and the space is wonderful. Warm, clean and with everything you need including more than enough for a breakfast in the morning. The view from the windows is great and it's a 5 minute walk down the hill into the town. Thoroughly recommended.

  • We had a lovely few days in John's house. We had a lovely welcome. It was great to be able to relax in front the woodburner, which was lit ready for our arrival. The bedrooms were very pretty and the beds were comfortable. Would recommend this property.

  • We had a great few day at John's place, in spite of the rain! Lovely accommodation with lots of thoughtful touches. Thank you!

  • Great location for our visit to Yorkshire Sculpture Park. The cottage is comfortable, well-equipped and warm - lovely fires in the kitchen and sitting room were already lit on our arrival. Duck eggs, croissants, milk, butter and jam were very welcome! Thank you, we’d love to come back one day.

    Joanna2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely place. An old cottage in a private courtyard/cul-de-sac with a wonderful fireplace, lovely stone / timber floors and tastefully decorated. The hosts were fantastic, even lighting the fires before we arrived. They were very accommodating of our two young boys and had even left us some breakfast goodies with 6 wonderful duck eggs from the family's ducks! We had a wonderful stay and can definitely recommend it.

    Oliver2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • We’ve just returned from the most wonderful 3 night break at this beautiful cottage. We arrived to two lovely fires awaiting us and were pleasantly surprised to see the attention to detail that our lovely hosts had gone to, which made us feel so comfortable straight away. The views were lovely and the garden area was a real bonus, although we didn’t get to enjoy them due to the November weather. The beds were so comfortable, we all slept really well. We had quite a busy itinerary however we would definitely have been happy just staying at the cottage with it being so cosy. The local pub (Rose & Crown) was great too for live entertainment and also Sunday dinner. I can’t recommend this place enough. The photos don’t do it justice. Thank you John for your excellent communication from start to finish. We’ll be back.

    Rachel2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Our fourth stay at John's place and once again a really cosy comfortable stay. Check in/out was really easy, communication great and the cottage sparkling clean for our arrival. Lovely to have some breakfast items waiting for us, always much appreciated. The cottage has a new bath/shower which worked really well, the water is always piping hot. John really looks after his cottage, we noticed some newly painted surfaces keeping everything fresh and smart. We didn't see John this trip but his Dad checked in with us briefly to make sure we had everything we needed. We will be back, its become our Yorkshire home from home!

  • My family and I stayed at this country cottage for 1 month, while I was in town for business. The place was very nice, the location was nice a quiet, and the host was very personal. We were able to collect vegetables from the garden and eggs from their ducks. Excellent hospitality! I would highly recommend this beautiful country cottage.

  • Had a great stay here with friends. The house was very clean and in a lovely location. Thanks for being a great host Chris.

    Katie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place to stay, the house was well designed and has everything you could possibly need. We will for sure be back as we had a brilliant time. On a few occasions I had a couple of questions for Chris and he was super responsive and efficient. The only thing I would mention is that the beds are (as advertised, I just didn’t read it, whoops) double beds so if you are coming from America you might find them a little small. But having spoken to some locals I understand that most people in northern England sleep in double beds so I think it’s just a cultural difference. But really I couldn’t fault the place, it was fantastic and we will look forward to coming back!

    Lucy2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great house and facilities, with local shops and places to go visit. Lovely chilled weekend.

    Nicole2020-01-13T00:00:00Z

  • A beautiful house with everything you could need for a relaxing stay! Richard is a fantastic host and responded promptly to all our queries. He also leaves lots of information about the home and the local area in the guest guide. The house was sparkling clean and smelt beautiful when we arrived. The hot tub was a lovely welcome, set at the perfect temperature and ready to use. All the bedrooms are extremely comfortable, warm and welcoming. The house had great amenities from the number of TVs, to the well stocked kitchen and kids toys and DVDs. This house is perfect if you are a large family/group travelling together. There is plenty of space both inside and outside. The sizeable enclosed garden is very private and has lovely views. For us it was great to have downstairs bedrooms and bathrooms for elderly parents. I would highly recommend this house. The photos are true to the home and you won’t be disappointed. Thanks Richard!

Our lovely Bunker is situated 3 minutes walk to the centre of Holmfirth and the Picturedrome. Built in our garden, this hideaway serves as accommodation for our large family to use when visiting. It has a large open plan kitchen/lounge diner with a sofa bed, one double bedroom, an office area, bathroom and a utility room housing the laundry facilities. It has underfloor heating and is double glazed. There is a dedicated parking space on our drive and a deck to sit on, in good weather.
The Bunker is delightfully private and self contained but only a stones throw from the centre of Holmfirth. Equally it is just a few minutes walk to the hills that made Holmfirth popular in "The Last of the Summer Wine" tv show.
We are located close to the centre of the lively and friendly town of Holmfirth. All the local amenities are conveniently available within walking distance. Whether you are here for shopping and sight-seeing; the food, music or art festivals; a live-music gig at the Picturedrome; or to enjoy a night out in one of the many pubs and restuarants, you will be able to leave the car safely parked and set off on foot down the hill to town . Please note that South Lane is steep but there is an easier shingle path up our garden to The Bunker. Our hens are free range so don't be surprised to find one trotting up the path with you. They may even lay you an egg for breakfast! Holmfirth is an ideal base or stop-over point for walking, motorcycling/cycling and touring holidays. It lies in the picturesque Holme Valley and is close to the Peak District National Park. We have many wonderful cycling roads in fact 'The Tour de France' route came through here before attacking the formidable climb up Holme Moss in 2014. There is a doctors surgery, council owned public gym and swimming pool less than 15 minutes walk away.
  • Di is an amazing host, who goes the extra mile to make you feel welcome. The Bunker is an incredible place, which is so comfortable and quiet. It’s spotlessly clean too! It’s in a perfect location to explore Holmfirth as it is a very short walk to all the shops, bars and restaurants. We’ll definitely be going back again.
