Welcome to The Gatehouse at Mathern Palace, a beautifully restored Grade II listed cottage set within peaceful palace grounds near Chepstow. Perfect for families and countryside lovers, this luxury retreat offers large a private garden, a year-round six-seater hot tub and strong wifi. For larger gatherings or multi-generational holiday's, we have two additional cottages on the grounds - Gardener's Cottage and The Potting Shed. Together, all three sleep up to 14 guests and welcome three dogs.

Peaceful Stone Cottage among fabulous gardens

The Garden House is a peaceful stone cottage set in the historic gardens of High Glanau Manor, the home of H. Avray Tipping (1855-1933) the Architectural Editor of Country Life Magazine from 1907. High Glanau Manor is an important Arts & Crafts house set in 12 acres of gardens designed in 1922. The gardens retain many original features including formal terraces, octagonal pool, glasshouse, pergola and 100 ft long double herbaceous borders. There are spectacular views to the Brecon Beacons

The Vault

The Vault is a really special space, which we hope you can see from the photographs. It is a basement studio apartment with its own private entrance. It is quiet and cosy with underfloor heating and an ambient temperature all year round. This property is very central, making it easy to plan your visit. We are very close to the harbour and the property is on the famous Georgian Square, Queen Square. It feels like you have stepped into a film from Jane Austen as you come out of the building.

The Welsh Gatehouse is a beautiful historic house with modern amenities. Imagine staying in a fairy tale castle built in 1270. The thick walls, ancient windows & steep spiral staircase say 'history'. A most unusual stay at a beautiful Arts & Crafts Manor House in the process of being restored. This incredible home was unlived in for 30 years but now it’s being brought back to life. It sits in 27 acres of nature right on the river with some of the most dramatic scenery of the Wye Valley on the grounds. The traditional wood fired hot tub is probably one of the best located hot tubs in the country, overlooking the Wye Valley from the top of the cliff.

Characterful barn conversion set on our family run farm. Fantastic views, ample sized garden and living space for a perfect rural retreat whatever the weather. Close links to the Cotswold way, pubs and shops within walking distance. Parking for several cars. The barn was once used as the dye house for the working cloth mill in the 1800's, however during the war the dye house was repurposed as a cowshed and now recently converted into a home.
