We stayed at The Writer’s Treehouse for four nights — and left feeling like we’d been away for weeks. This isn’t just a place to stay; it’s an invitation to slow down and breathe in nature. The treehouse itself is tucked beneath a giant tree, surrounded by dense jungle and birdsong. It’s beautifully rustic, modern yet minimal. From the moment we arrived, we felt held by the space. Mark and Narina have created something incredibly special here, and the local family supporting the experience (especially Sudana and Kadek) were kind, attentive, and generous with their time. From fresh coconuts and homemade banana bread on arrival, to outdoor showers fed by bamboo pipes, and the perfect canopy to offer shade from sun— it’s hard to describe just how replenishing it all felt. Even the smallest moments, like sketching in the garden or listening to the dawn chorus, became meaningful. We'd love to come back, and hope to.

Josef was a great host, very responsive and easy going. The location of the house is great if you are a nature lover and like peace and quiet with the ocean within stone throw. At night it was so peaceful, listening to the sounds of waves. I enjoyed the beach, and I imagined it would be great for a morning jog (which I wish I had done.).Perfect place for relaxation. Not far from the villa, are a few good restaurants, good for value for the price we paid, highly recommend to try Bombolonis Bali restaurant. If you are looking for local food, that isn’t an issue, just walk further out towards the main road and there are many delicious choices at a fraction of the cost. Supian, the care taker goes the extra miles to help post a cap we left behind. Very thankful for that. Thanks again Josef for the great experience and for the extra help, appreciate it 🙏

Pink Barell is wonderful - little place of heaven on earth! The people are so lovely, Reza is very caring and has a great team to arrange an amazing time on the surf board. Highly recommend!

I don't even know what to say First, after arriving, I cried with joy because I never had the honor of being able to stay in such a garden of Eden. I had wonderful days there, even came back again because it just became my 2nd home during my time in Indonesia. The pancakes, nature, the view, the roof terrace, the coffee, the roller rides, the black beach, the house, the cats, the massage, the therapy, the evenings together, the silence, the neighbors, the friends - all this was beautiful but nothing in the world is as valuable as the love I got there. Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you. One big Family ♥️ I hope I can go again!
