Cottage holiday rentals in Ocean Beach, San Diego

We have stayed in this community many MANY times. I will say this.... You can't beat the location! The views and accessability to the beach, pool, parking was phenomenal! The beach toys and extra fans were great! The artwork in the unit was awesome and the owners brought a new table for the patio that was really nice! On the other hand.... this not the most updated condo, not the best equipt kitchen, and not the comfiest beds we have ever had in this community. For the extra money we would likely choose another unit next time.

This location is by far my favorite during my many visits to SD. Cutest cottage with the perfect location. Walkable to some amazing coffee shops and to the beach! Although the street has a lot of foot traffic, the cottage was very peaceful. It was never noisy and parking was never an issue for myself and guests that visited. Kristine and Clint were very responsive and gave simple instructions for us. This is a great place to relax and unplug! Thank you for an amazing time!

Really enjoyed our stay. Lovely neighborhood. ( neighbor cut me one of her roses)Easy to get around. Ocean Beach so close. I would like to recommend that some safety bars placed in the shower. It was slippery Also, microwave was difficult to get at on top of the fridge for us short er folks. But the stay was wonderful. Would recommend it to others!

This place is incredible! The beds are so comfy, the location is ideal to the bay and an area restaurants etc! The outdoor space is lovely. And the pool and hot tub are awesome! We did not want to leave! Aurrora is a wonderful host too. You can’t go wrong with this place!

What a perfect place to stay for pur family vacation in La Jolla Shores! Walking distance to the beach, shops, restaurants. Peaceful neighborhood, quaint cottage. We'll be back!

Lovely place to stay at. It felt like you were at home. It was very peaceful and clean. It was easy to find and street parking was not hard to find. Would love to come back and try the jacuzzi.

A true coastal haven indeed! This place was the perfect weekend getaway! Just a short walk to the beach with tons of great shops and cafes nearby—everything in Ocean Beach is so accessible. Having overnight parking made it easy to explore more of San Diego, from paddle boarding in the bay with super convenient gear rentals to quick trips to SeaWorld and downtown for the nightlife. The house had everything we needed for a relaxing stay with friends. The spa was a highlight—clean, cozy, and perfect for winding down after a full day. Plus, our pup loved the private patio with a pet relief area and had a blast at the nearby dog park and dog beach. Highly recommend for couples, families, or friends looking to enjoy the beach life with all the comforts of home. We’d absolutely come back—and don’t miss grabbing some Hoagies while you’re here!

My wife and I enjoyed staying in “The Loft” guesthouse. It was clean, cheerful and located in a quiet neighborhood. The host is friendly and responded quickly to questions. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom is large and well stocked with towels and washcloths. The guesthouse was located close to shopping, restaurants, and major San Diego attractions. The kitchen had everything we needed. We recommend The Loft for your stay in San Diego.

The location is a great distance from downtown to local restaurants and most of what San Diego has to offer. The area felt definitely safe to walk around in the morning and overall we had a good experience. It is in a hilly area fyi for anyone that may have trouble with that. Other than that it was great.

Our stay in Bird Rock was amazing. This rental was exactly what we were looking for. Super accessible to everything we needed. Short drive to beaches and restaurants (if you want to go further into La Jolla). Plentiful coffee, pastries, açaí bowls all around. It was great spending mornings on the roof top patio drinking our coffee and planning the day. 10/10 would stay again. Thanks Matt!

Exactly as advertised. PB is a lively area and being less than a block from the beach/boardwalk was perfect.

We had really good time It’s really cozy and walking distance to lot’s of places.

We had a great time staying at Terri’s place for a week. It was me, my husband, our 1.5 year old daughter and dog. The space was perfect for our little family and gave us so much flexibility. It is walking distance to a grocery store, casual and fine dining, bodegas, taco shops, bakeries, ice cream shops, you name it. We were able to enjoy our afternoons out and then cook or grab takeout for dinner after bedtime. The patio was a great place for us to hang out during the day and night. Others mentioned the noise of La Jolla Blvd but we didn’t mind it at all! In fact there was great people watching and we still felt like we had privacy enough to sit out in PJs. Thank you so much for letting us stay! I definitely recommend for small families looking to explore La Jolla and Bird Rock.

We had a wonderful stay. We loved being a very short walk from the beach and only 15 minutes to the airport. The house was well-equipped and very clean. We appreciated having sufficient linens, beach accessories, and kitchen appliances, dishes and cookware. The kids loved the games and the boogie boards. The private patio and front deck were great spaces to dine and relax. The owner was very responsive and responded immediately to our messages. Next time, we will stay longer to explore the shops and restaurants nearby.

We really enjoyed our stay! It looked like the photos - it was actually larger than expected! For being a pet friendly bnb it was VERY clean. I am allergic to dogs but have a small hypoallergenic dog - usually linens/blankets in pet friendly bnb's have remnant pet hair but not at this place -- there was none! The bed was very comfortable - the couch was a bit worn/springy (but this may be because its a pull out) -- the living room chairs offered a more comfortable/supportive seat when needed. The kitchen was big enough to cook in (although we ate out the whole visit). Having reserved parking was awesome! The alley was a bit dirty (not the host's fault) and some people drive very fast through there (FYI). For summer visits, note: There was no AC in this place - I could see this being an issue if you're spending the day inside mid summer but it was cool for our visit so this was not an issue for us - the host provides some nice instructions on how to take advantage of the natural AC.

Exactly what we needed for our extended stay on the west coast! In a great neighborhood with a lot to walk to and the house itself was perfect- cozy, private, and had everything we needed. And Kimberly was always quick to respond. If we’re back in the area we would love to stay here again!

To me, this place was outstanding. I really like the Kensington neighborhood in San Diego. This particular place was quiet, clean, comfortable, and convenient. It’s easy to get to just about any place you want to go. The hosts were very responsive, even when I asked silly questions like “how to manage the volume on the TV”. You do need to be aware of the stairs to get to the bed (noted in the listing). I actually left my suitcase downstairs and just brought clothes up as needed (not a deal breaker for me). This location is really what I expect from an Airbnb.

We had an amazing stay at Russell’s house. He was very prompt in addressing our queries related to the house. The house was clean, cozy and comfortable. Highly recommend!

A perfect place for a weekend getaway! It truly is in a prime location. Everything is easily walkable. Safe neighborhood. So many phenomenal restaurants to choose from. George was an excellent host. Hotel quality linens. Clean. With plenty of amenities to make it feel like home. We would easily stay here again.

Best of the best! This place is an oasis with wonderful hospitality and attention to detail. The cottages are super well cared for, very clean and well stocked. Absolutely exceptional — the best Airbnb we’ve ever stayed at. The photos are stunning, but somehow the place is even better in person. The home was spotless, beautifully designed, and full of thoughtful touches — we were especially grateful for the cozy robes and the oat milk creamer in the fridge! The kitchen is fully stocked! We loved waking up and falling asleep to the breathtaking view — both the daytime and nighttime views are incredible. Using the telescope was such a fun bonus! Like other reviewers, we spent a lot of time on the patio, and the surprise highlight was learning about the green parrots of Ocean Beach. We heard and saw them every morning — magical! The location is perfect, too. We walked easily to downtown OB and loved being part of such a gorgeous, welcoming community. The beds were super comfortable the linens were soft, and the bathroom felt spa-like. Anna truly thought of everything, including all the beach gear. Thank you Anna for sharing your home!

We very much enjoyed our stay with our two dogs at the Blue Herron Cottages. Our cottage was cozy and comfortable and felt like home. We cooked a few meals in the kitchen which was great. The courtyard is great for dogs. It was very quiet and in a perfect location within close proximity to the beach, restaurants, stores and the highway. We truly had a wonderful vacation and were sad to leave. We would absolutely stay at the Blue Herron Cottages again.

Overall, our stay was pleasant. Rob was fabulous and very responsive. Minor, fixable plumbing stuff that prevented a 5 Star rating. Kitchen sink faucet had very low water pressure. Shower water pressure was very low but functional. Shower head needs replaced as well. The sink in one of the bathrooms drained really slow. Since there’s a second bathroom, it was a minor inconvenience.
