Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Newington

It was a special experience to stay in this cosy place in a beautiful neighborhood. It's less than 30 minutes walk to downtown, and many buses run frequently. Angela was a kind, loving host, making me comfortable during the day. In addition to the lovely room that has a good view and the clean, modern bathroom, I could use the nice kitchen that looks towards the garden. It felt like staying at a friend's. Everything was lovely.

Great and clean house approximately 40 min. away from the city center. We were with the 4 of us and 2 of us had to sleep in the living room, but if you're not home that much that is not a problem at all. The neighbourhood was nice and quiet, and despite it not being close by any of the main tourist attractions of the city, the public transport to and from the city was relatively fast. The hosts were nice and easy to communicate with. Overall, a great place to stay! Would definitely recommend :)

Lisha and her husband were very kind and helpful hosts. Invited us for coffee/tea and gave us many suggestions for things to see in Edinburgh. The home was clean and exactly as advertised. Would definitely recommend.

I was looking for a few days in a home and I absolutely found that. Judy and her husband are warm and welcoming and the upstairs space is very sweet and comfortable. I especially liked the view of Arthur's Seat, the big bed, open windows, and thoughtfully stocked fridge. It is very easy to catch a bus to/from the Old Town but I also enjoyed walking through the neighborhood and The Meadows. Thank you, Judy!

Melissa’s flat has been put together with so much thought, it is stylish, cosy, and comfortable. It is perfectly located to be walkable for all the main sites in Edinburgh and has lots of nice restaurants, coffee shops, and bars nearby (and Melissa provided a guidebook to help find the best spots). Melissa was incredibly accommodating and even arranged an infant cot for us. Would absolutely stay again!

The location was perfect. It was in the less crowded west end area and less than a block to the bus stop (which we highly recommend figuring out the system so you can get around quicker). However, you can also walk to old town in 15-20 minutes time. There are many good restaurants and groceries within walking distance. The attached garage was an awesome perk since this was a stop for us in our long road trip.

This place was fantastic, we cant thank the family enough.Their space was exactly what we needed, close to the centre and a walkable distance to any and all amenities you could need. It is clear they live an interesting life, their home reflects it! This place is what all airbnb experiences should be. The energy of the home was fantastic. As someone returning to the city I am from it was a great location to show friends around the city and a good enough size for 2 adult couples to occupy together. I cannot speak more highly of our experience, a huge thank you again to Robert and his family. What a great and restful break for all 4 of us.

The Garden Cottage was everything we hoped for and more. The location was very convenient to Stockbridge and all of its restaurants and shops. There are numerous bus stops within 10-20 mins walk to grab a quick bus up the hill into New Town, across Princes Gardens into Old Town, or even for easy day trips like to Rosslyn Chapel or Portobello. Victoria was a very accommodating host and easy to work with. The cottage had plenty of space, was very well equipped for self-catering, and was stocked with all the basics you need (e.g., coffee, tea, sugar, etc.). Having a washer and dryer (as well as a drying rack) was a luxury we’ve rarely seen in the UK or Europe.

My husband and I had a great stay at Paul’s apartment! The apartment is even better in real life than in the photos. As others have mentioned, the communal spaces could use a little attention, though we knew that this is not within Paul’s control. The location was perfect for what we needed, Paul was responsive and kind, and the groceries he provided for our stay were a really, really nice touch. We’d stay here again should we come back to Edinburgh!

Ann is an absolutely wonderful host! She is very responsive and accomodating toward her guests. The apartment was clean, the check in was incredibly easy and the location is superb. I would definitely stay again 😊

The apartment is great. Great location, quiet and you can walk quickly to all the sights. Communication was perfect. We felt very comfortable and can also recommend the apartment for longer stays.

The apartment was lovely—well-decorated, even. The beds were amazing, the location was just a little outside the city and that was great. For other guests—unless you want to take long drives, a rental car is not needed. Uber was super fast and very affordable. There is parking, which we found out is exceedingly rare in the city. Would absolutely stay here again!

This AirBnB was excellent for our stay in Edinburgh, it was in a wonderful location with beautiful streets, and historic residence and facades. The apartment had modern kitchen facilities, a comfortable bed and very good shower in modern bathroom. The location has supermarkets nearby and is close enough to walk into main attractions in Edinburgh via the Meadows which itself is a great green space.

Great place to stay. Convenient to coffee shop and other needed shops. We loved staying there. Paul was very helpful and prompt to answer questions.

We had a fantastic stay at Anke’s place in Shaftesbury! The location was ideal—just a short walk to the canal and within easy walking distance to Edinburgh city centre. There was a great local restaurant nearby called Gio, and a supermarket just around the corner, which made everything super convenient. The house was spotless and incredibly well-equipped—we didn’t need a thing. It truly felt like a home away from home. Anke was a wonderful host—very kind and attentive. She even surprised my husband with a birthday card and a bottle of wine, which was such a thoughtful touch and made our stay extra special. Would absolutely recommend this place and would love to come back!

we were visiting for an event at the rugby. stadium and took in some sights over 2 nights. the house is on several easy bus routes into the city and walkable in 40 mins. Their were some nice cafes nearby I'm Brunsfield. Pretty much perfect.

Toby's place was exactly what my wife and I needed. It was clean, comfortable, and perfectly located. Toby was very responsive and helpful. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

Beautiful clean accommodation with everything you needed. Positive is that it was in lovely residential area, parking right outside and near to bus routes into the centre. Cannot fault it and would definitely go again when visiting Edinburgh.

We only stayed for 1 night for a gig & we both agreed our next trip to Edinburgh we will stay for a long weekend & do some touristy things & this little gem is where we will stay. Perfect 👌🏼

Excellent accommodation. Easy car parking. Spotlessly clean. Great stay. Bus stops in easy walkable distance. A very comfortable place to stay with ample full supplies and amenities.

We loved our stay at the Snug - a short walk from supermarkets and the city centre (approx 25mins), plus local shops. The walk to the centre was free-lined and felt safe! The apartment was cosy and comfortable for 2 adults, and the water pressure/temperature was great. Decor felt homely and featured plenty of local touches which we loved!! Gabriella was flexible, friendly, professional, patient and receptive to feedback. For the price + amenities, we’d definitely choose to stay here again if visiting the city!

Andrew’s flat in Edinburgh is lovely. Nicely decorated, well appointed, and it has everything you need (kitchen, bath, laundry,etc.). Very nice surroundings - parks and location mean it is quiet. Close to restaurants (from fish ‘n chips to Gourmet dining ). A convenient John Lewis if you forgot something, as we did. Good bus service. We hope to return to Edinburgh again and would love to stay again.
