This small, rustic cabin has it all under one roof. A queen sized bed, kitchenette, wood burning stove and a small bathroom with a shower and stool. It is the perfect place to relax after a day of hiking up to Zapata Falls, climbing Mt Blanca or maybe a much needed upgrade from the hard bumpy ground of the local campsite. We'll be glad to supply coffee and some farm fresh eggs, but it's up to you to cook them up!
“Fantastic location for checking out the sand dunes and close to town for easy access to restaurants etc. The cabin is larger than it appears in the pictures and is adorable. Everything you need is there-Wendy is a great host and had drinks/snacks etc available. If we return to the area for more adventures we would certainly stay here again!”
Quiet and comfortable 350 square foot detached back yard cottage is the perfect spot to explore the San Luis Valley. It is a stand-alone studio unit with a kitchen, dining, and bedroom in one space. The small bathroom is a separate room. It is in a walkable historic area of Monte Vista, Colorado. The cottage is perfect for a couple, for visiting professionals, and for tourists who visiting our rural corner of Colorado.
“A fantastic place for two people to stop, unwind, and enjoy the San Luis Valley. The cottage is exactly as described, and the space is very well thought out and has everything you need for a stay. Don't let the size bother you-this square footage was designed with an IKEA-like zen for maximizing a small space and making all amenities fit and work well with one another. This was the first airbnb unit where I did not get to meet the host; but then again, these are quite the different times we are living in. As one who wanted to travel and also stay safe, I appreciate the extra effort they put into cleaning and having the space safe for us, and we also kept our distance from their family. In another time I would have been disappointed with the lack of contact, but in this case it made perfect sense, and we communicated via email, and their response time was almost instant. Where they really hit the home run was with tips for hiking. My buddy and I were planning on hitting the more well known places like the Great Sand Dunes, but we learned of lines getting in, and with covid-19 we really did not want to be near crowds. So Laura hooked us up with two amazing hikes to the NW and SW of Monte Vista, and we loved both hikes. We also got to spend some time in Crestone, one of the coolest places ever. And Monte Vista is just a cool small city. I cannot say enough about the San Luis Valley. It has been and continues to be my favorite part of Colorado, because it has not changed a lot and still has its small town rural charm, and is not like the bustling resort areas up north. A very good thing, in my opinion. I will close by saying the listing is as 'what you see is what you get' as much as anywhere I have stayed. Great accommodation, great hosts (albeit from a distance), great value, and an overall very nice weekend. I highly recommend staying here, and I will be back.”
This sweet hideaway sits almost center of town. Built in 1886, it has thick walls that surround you in hushed silence. 2 bedrooms separated by a double drop cloth curtain, 1-1/2 bathrooms, 1200 sq ft. Full kitchen features a glass top stove microwave, very large refrigerator, stainless steel counter, under cabinet dishwasher and everything you need. Washer and dryer are in laundry room, just off the kitchen. Private parking, right at your door. Keypad entry on both front and back door.
“This house has personality. It's historical Southern Colorado architecture at it's finest. Be sure to read the info packet for a little bit of the houses history. The inside is quiet, spacious, and very comfortable. My kids love the world map in the bedroom and the toy train set in the toy box in the living room. The beds are extremely comfortable. Also, the hosts added so many special touches to the home; snacks in the kitchen, extra blankets, the toy train - I almost felt like I was staying with family rather than with a host I've never met. This is a true gem. We'd love to book again next summer.”
