We are a family homestead who built a one room straw bale house finished with clay plaster from our land. We invite you to come enjoy nature in our little oasis. The space is heated with the help of both a rocket stove and abundant natural sunlight. You'll also have access to an outdoor kitchen, a campfire site and a composting toilet. What a beautiful oasis in Kents Store. Located approximately 5 miles from I 64 right between Short Pump and Charlottesville, Wendy has created a gorgeous and sweet retreat. Lots of thoughtful details, gorgeous finishes and comfy vibes. An adorable kitchen with everything you need. She provided tea, coffee, spices, water, snacks and even a s’more kit for outdoor fire pit area. Lots of towels, wash clothes, makeup remover packets…she’s thought of everything. One of my favorite features was the bird feeders she has located right outside the big picture window. I was treated to a constant show of vibrantly colored yellow finches, cardinals, and other lovely birds. The cottage is lovely and reasonably priced. I would recommend her delightful place to anyone.

Kelly’s place was clean, just as described and exactly what we needed for an overnight stay. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Everything we needed was provided. Super cute back patio with rocking chairs. So many fun games and amenities inside. The bar was also a nice touch. Very accommodating of our timeframe for check in and check out as well. Would definitely stay again if we’re in the area.

Lots of beds/bedrooms for our group of 7. The house had everything you could need, including lots of fluffy hotel-quality towels and washcloths, every kind of kitchen necessity, enough toilet paper/paper towels, etc.( Not all houses are as generously supplied.) Other than getting food, we could have stayed for two weeks without having to leave the house!

There are not enough stars or enough good things to stay about this house. Just perfect. We will book again if we can find an open slot available because this place is amazing!! Modern Family Home by Lake Anna

Very very comfortable beds, my dad said it was best nights sleep he’s had in a long time. The house was very clean and the host was incredibly responsive (replied within less than 1 minute). The house had lots of room for our group of 7 people, with a nice big fenced yard, lovely deck and a fire pit. We enjoyed making s’mores. Outside Adirondack chairs were super comfy. The house had a giant tv in living room perfect for gaming and streaming shows (host provided access to multiple streaming services, which was awesome), plus there were big tvs in all the bedrooms. House layout gave a lot of flexibility for our group, and had a great home office for working remotely (excellent internet connection). We felt it was good value for the money. Host provided a lovely welcome basket, instructions and local recommendations. We appreciated use of the laundry room. Glad we made the decision to stay here, it worked very well for our group of seven adults! Would highly recommend.
