Stordalen is the gateway to Stølsheimen and has many great hiking opportunities. Peak trips up to 1000 meters nearby. All year round road from E39 Matre Stordalen ski center and prepared ski trails. Merk at det inntil den nye veien ned til hytten er klar er masse trapper gjennom skogen. Det er totalt 80 trappetrinn. Vannet i hytten kommer fra en nærliggende elv og bør kokes.
