Holiday rentals with a fire pit in Martinsville

We enjoyed our stay at Dan River House. It was a great location for us to relax and enjoy some time away.

Our stay here exceeded our expectations. The property is absolutely gorgeous and the pictures do not do it enough justice. Once inside, the home felt much larger than anticipated and had a warm and cozy feel to it. The owners went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and I can’t recommend a stay here enough.

Plain on the outside and pleasantly surprised when we walked in. Very spacious, nicely decorated, very clean, very comfortable and plenty of amenities. Nice fire-pit area and front patio. The surroundings are very peaceful and it’s close to the interstate. Thank David and Amy for hosting us. We will definitely stay there again if we are in this area.

The property was lovely and had the most beautiful views. I first thought it was too small, but it was perfect! Stacia and her team were so responsive, and the property was super clean. We spent most of our time on the dock or deck, enjoying the view and the wild life. The kitchen had great space for meals and everything we needed. The basement was perfect for playing cards, and the pac man game was my sister’s favorite! What a great place on the lake!

We had a wonderful 4 day stay at Dannie & Nancy's home. We are a family of 6: dad, mom, and 4 boys ages 3- 17. What we enjoyed most was how peaceful and remote the setting was. We saw a couple boats go by each day, but other than that and some wildlife (deer, various birds, and a baby bear were spotted!) we were totally alone. What sold us on this home vs. the others is the use of the canoe, kayas, paddle board and peddle boat plus all the various sizes of lifejackets. This made it so much fun for each person in our family to get out and enjoy the lake. I enjoyed paddling the kayak for exercise and enjoyment, and my husband and sons took various boats out to fish. They caught white bass, blue catfish (one pretty large), lots of bluegill, a shad, white perch, and several channel catfish. We really enjoyed being right near the water. We also made use of the firepit each night. Dannie & Nancy were always available when we had questions.

Our family of 4 had a wonderful stay at Emily's lovely and bright airbnb. It was the perfect place to kick-off our 2-week road trip. Emily kindly allowed us to check in an hour early. This allowed us to eat an early dinner before heading out to see the Roanoke star on a day when storms were forecast for the evening. Luckily, we avoided any storms. Seeing the star was lots of fun! On the way back to the airbnb, we stopped off for some fro-yo at Sweet Frog, conveniently located just 5 minutes from Emily's place. Then our family enjoyed playing some ping-pong before calling it a night. Everything was so clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The backyard is filled with birdsong, and the neighborhood is very peaceful. We felt very at home here, and we'd definitely return here if in the area again.

Truly a nature stay! The creek was visible from our entrance and we even saw a deer close up one evening. Layout with the Jack and Jill bath was perfect for our family with 2 toddlers. The granola bars and popcorn included was also a nice touch. Living areas were spacious and clean and the neighborhood was very safe.

We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back sometime! The home looks just like the pictures and is very well stocked. There were lots of clean towels and every bed had four pillows. The walk to the dock is short but is quite steep with stairs. We didn't encounter anyone during our weekend trip, but it does appear that it may be a shared dock as the path connects to another home. The kitchen had plenty of dishes and cookware. Coffee, cream (shelf stable) and sugar were also provided. The bed was comfy, and the dedicated AC unit for the main bedroom was really nice to have. As this place is right by the lake, you should be prepared for some spiders and bugs. We didn't see anything big inside, but the kayaks had quite a few in and on them. Once we cleaned them up, we really enjoyed going out on the lake for a couple hours.

Anthony's place was very clean and welcoming. felt secluded even though was close to everything. was well pleased with our stay. only drawback was we weren't able to control the temperature and the house was 76 degrees too hot for June. Anthony did turn it down some but was still too hot for us . plenty of wildlife if that's your thing, the deer come close enough to almost pet them . I will definitely stay here again it's perfect for just 2 people

Great place to stay while visiting L.U. It had everything we needed and was close to the University. Quiet neighborhood with easy check in. We would stay there again.

I loved everything about Jeanette's tiny house AirBnB. I felt inspired to have stayed there for three nights. I got a lot of work accomplished for my clients while staying there. As well as now feeling rested and ready for the next leg of my journey. Even the exterior and interiordesign of this tiny house inspired me. I hope one day I'll be able to design and build something that evokes the same feeling of spaciousness in such a small space—perhaps as a studio for my creative projects that might also double as a place where my visitors might stay. Highly recommended!

Staying with Mr Jane was a pleasure. The location was perfect, the apartment was cozy and spotless. The place was well-equipped and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. This is a peaceful downstairs apartment with private entry and beautiful backyard with swimming pool. Mrs Jane was always available to answer our questions. unforgettable experience! Highly recommended!" 

Eight of us rented this house for a book club 20th anniversary celebration. It is an older building, but has been beautifully renovated and modernized. The kitchen was well-equipped, including basic supplies and the entire place was immaculate. I believe this is the first Airbnb I have rented that had enough towels for everyone. It also had a lovely back porch for morning coffee and adequate parking. The owners answered any questions almost immediately in addition to providing detailed information about the house and Durham on their Airbnb page. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Durham.

Our stay was more than we expected. Lisa and Ginny were such accommodating hosts. We felt like family! We will definitely be booking again when we’re in town visiting our children.

My son and I had an incredible stay at this Airbnb! From the moment we arrived, our host was impressively attentive and responsive to all our needs. The property matched the listing photos perfectly, which made us feel right at home. Every detail lived up to the glowing reviews from previous guests. This has truly been one of the best Airbnb experiences we've ever had! Highly recommend it!

We stayed in this little piece of paradise while visiting family. It was exactly what we needed. The home was beautiful and farm was so peaceful. We will definitely use this home again for further visits.

This was our first time staying at an AirBnB and will not be our last. We were impressed! Paula’s SheShed was amazing! The view alone was worth it, you feel as if you are on top of the world. The SheShed is rustic looking but that is all that is rustic. It has everything you could ever want and Paula made sure you knew where everything was. She even went as far as leaving us a bottle of wine, glasses and a card from a local winery since she knew we were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. The place is clean, very well appointed. There is even wood for the fire pit and gas for the grill. The bed was very comfortable and plenty of pillows which is something I’m picky about to my Husbands frustration, lol! If you are going to just relax, explore the area or just vegetate for a few days this is the perfect place. It is quiet and relaxing. Sparta and Mt Airy aren’t far if you need more.

Split Rock is one of the best experiences you can have, as it is both eye catching and breathtaking. Loads of amazing amenities and fun activity to pursue within the space. Jenny and Peter outdo themselves as hosts, creating a welcoming and engaging atmosphere. I’m very appreciative to have booked my stay with them as they are very understanding and helpful. Please consider booking your trip at their lovely estate, you will really be thankful to both Jenny and Peter for opening up their home to you by the end of your trip.

My son and I had the best time staying at the black water junction cabin. We fell in love with the view, the animals, and the atmosphere. The cabin was spotless and fully stocked with anything we could have needed. The binder telling all of the history and little unique additions was so interesting! The bed was comfy, the towels were heated, and there were fresh eggs in the fridge. The hosts are so friendly and so quick to answer any questions I had. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay. We will definitely be back!

Memories of a lifetime , everything was refreshing and beautiful. Loved the screened in porch with the view of the river the most.

We really enjoyed our visit! The house was perfect. We were so happy just relaxing on the deck and in the hot tub. We lost power only briefly but the generator kicked on so no real interruption. We found it hard to leave and head back home. Thank you for the wine as well as such a beautiful place to spend our vacation.

Southern C’s was even more beautiful in person than in the pictures. Scott greeted us upon arrival and introduced us to the property. He was super personable and nice to talk to and was available throughout our entire stay if we needed him. The cabin itself was so unique and antique but with the necessary modern comforts. Our senior dog did struggle at first with the stairs but we carried her up for bedtime at night and eventually she figured them out on her own; they are just steep and widely spaced. It can be a little warm upstairs for a hot sleeper like myself at night but with the fan it cooled off well enough. Highly recommend taking some time to walk around the property and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The horses boarded there as well as the owners horse are incredibly beautiful and well taken care of. If you ask, Scott will introduce you to some. We plan to return here for another trip.

This was our second stay. Jennifer and David are amazing hosts and have thought of everything. It’s such a wonderful cabin to relax in after long hikes. Hope to return again!
