Holiday rentals with a fireplace in Macon County

The owners were incredibly responsive and answered all our questions before our arrival. Once we stepped onto the property, we didn’t need to reach out again—every little detail had already been thoughtfully taken care of. The river that runs alongside the property adds the perfect touch of serenity, with the soothing sound of flowing water making the porch an ideal place to relax. The “man cave” in the garage is packed with games and full of charm—there’s something for everyone! And if that’s not enough, the living room features a full cabinet of board games for even more entertainment. We were drawn to the area by the Highlands Road Gem Show at 1602 Highlands Road, Franklin, NC. This public show is a real highlight in both May and July—always worth attending! Don’t miss Dry Falls—an absolute must-see! We’d definitely stay here again. This home had everything we needed for a truly lovely trip!

Nothing negative to report. 😊😊😊 Cherisse’s place was perfect. Fully stocked with everything needed. Great location. Close to stores and hiking but still so peaceful and quiet. Comfy beds. Comfy vibe. Super cute. I loved that she doesn’t charge a cleaning fee for your departure….you do have to clean the place but that didn’t bother me, it was quite therapeutic to leave a place nice and clean! (Cleaning supplies provided) It was a perfect size for my family of six (two teens and two kids) to not feel crowded. She was a perfect host and very responsive and friendly. Enjoy your trip wherever you end up booking….but I can guarantee you will definitely enjoy it at Cherisse’s place. Thank you Cherisse for stepping out in faith and becoming an Airbnb host!

Stayed here as a group of six and 1 dog. Very cozy and lots of space for everyone. Beautiful mountain views!

We had the best weekend at the cottage. Easy, quick drive to downtown highlands. Some highlights - The pizza oven was great for making pizzas, grill was fantastic for grilling steaks, fire pit for s’mores and the Hot tub was used several times. The kids loved the bunk room. The house was beautifully decorated and we felt right at home. We hope to be back soon!

A Slice of Heaven in the Mountains! We had the absolute pleasure of staying here and I can confidently say this was one of the most beautiful and peaceful getaways we've ever experienced. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by how stunning the home and property were. The house itself is impeccably maintained, warm, and welcoming—clearly cared for with love and attention to detail. Every space inside felt cozy and comfortable, with thoughtful touches throughout that made us feel right at home. But the view—wow. Pictures just don’t do it justice. Nestled in the rolling hills, the panoramic mountain vistas from the property are absolutely breathtaking. Whether you’re sipping coffee on the porch in the morning or watching the sunset in the evening, the scenery is pure magic. It’s the kind of place that instantly makes you feel relaxed and recharged! 10/10 recommend staying here if you get the opportunity!

Great stay in Highlands! A few things to note - the mile drive after you get off the main road is gravel and there’s no service. There was also no Uber/Lyft but we were driving so no issues there. Just a couple things to plan for during your stay! Overall, amazing place, extremely clean, & great communication with host. Would 100% stay here again!

5 stars!!! Laura’s place is lovely, immaculate and very clean, with modern decor and was very well stocked - had everything we needed. Laura’s home sits in a lovely peaceful area very close to town. Beds were super comfy. The home was exactly as described. Host was responsive and kind. We appreciated the fenced yard for our pups. Wifi was great. We hope to return very soon. Loved everything about Laura’s place.

Great place, beautiful view. Kitchen was well stocked and is a good stay for a long weekend. Easy to find and downtown Franklin has good restaurants and breweries. Plenty of trails nearby

Don and the rental were fantastic. I can only wish that every Air BnB was done this well. Water on every table. The bathroom had everything you might have forgotten. The fridge had soda and water in it. Even had a Smores setup for the firepit outside. I will be back here regularly and Don's place will always be my first choice. Dons hospitality was world class. It is very hard to find genuine hospitality and Don hit it off the mountain.

The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Appreciated the small refrigerator and Keurig with pods. Clean bathroom with an exhaust fan. Plenty of closet and dresser space. I was very appreciative for the make up desk and mirror. We were in Highlands for a wedding and it was so convenient to have a place to sit and get ready! We had our morning coffee on the outside patio looking at the mountains.

We loved so much about this stay! View is wonderful and the porch is comfortable to sit and relax. Bald eagle spotted on Day 1. We enjoyed the fireplace!! Tom and Carol are wonderful hosts and went above and beyond expectations. They even replaced the grill in case we wanted to use it. The place is a lot bigger and spread out than I imagined. They have everythingyou need. Some fyi things ....they have robes to use if you wish (one less thing to pack!), the shower is adequate but small and has an overhead spray so if you don't want to wash your hair, bring a shower cap. Someone previously mentioned no windows in the bedroom.... but I loved how this made it completely dark, so no need to bring an eye mask. It was so nice to sleep in! 🙂 We loved our stay, as well as the hosts and would stay again. Thank you gracious hosts for the 5 star experience!!

Belinda and Ben were great host! The home met our needs as we were waiting to close on our home. The space worked well for my husband who was working remotely and also for the visiting grand kids. The home is simple bbut had everything we needed.

The location of this apartment is perfect! We walked anywhere we wanted to go in Highlands. The place is spacious, the kitchen has anything you could need, and the custom closet made unpacking and staying organized a breeze! We would definitely stay here again.

I loved everything about my stay at Hi-Horse! I was traveling solo for this trip for work and needed the peace and serenity of Hi-Horse. The views were magical and the hot tub was so relaxing! Tanya went the extra mile to make my stay extra special. There was a sweet note and chilled bottle of wine upon my arrival. She also created a wonderful digital guest manual that was so helpful as a guide for outings and where to eat. I would highly recommend Hi-Horse to anyone looking for a tranquil getaway and I will be back!

We highly enjoyed our stay. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking. We enjoyed the covered screened in porch, as it rained for much of our stay. The property is beautiful and in a great location. Damien is helpful and friendly and responded quickly. Overall this is one of the nicer Air Bnb's we have stayed in. We will definitely be back and stay at one of his properties in the future.

Such a peaceful retreat in a beautiful setting. Waves of nostalgia in every nook and cranny of this house. Our family thoroughly enjoyed admiring the pictures, decorations, books and furniture! Preparing meals in the kitchen was an absolute treat. We have never stayed in such a well-equipped kitchen. The serving platters, cooking utensils, cookware and glassware were enjoyed by all! The home was clean and so peaceful. The fireplace was just icing on the cake! Everyone enjoyed our family trip and we hope to return!

My family enjoyed a long, relaxing weekend at Craig's Encore at the end of Lake Nantahala. We have stayed in many places, and this home was truly exceptional with every detail considered. We enjoyed watching Lake Nantahala change throughout the day, paddled in the kayaks, swam, soaked in the hot tub, relaxed and had fun outings renting a boat one day and tubing down the Nantahala River the next. It was truly memorable, and the only drawback was the long drive in over gravel, but that's what makes it so peaceful and remote. The lake was never busy and such a big change from so many crowded and touristed spots. We hope we made a good impression and will be welcomed back. This is truly a loved and cherished family home, and we appreciate Craig sharing it with us.

We will definitely be back. Love, Love, Love Jeanna’s Place! It was beautiful and very clean! The yard was peaceful and had total retreat vibes. We were in town for work and it was so great coming back to such a restful sanctuary in the evening. The only thing to keep in mind is you do have to take your trash bags to the local recycling center so you have to be sure to plan your schedule around their operating hours.
