Pet-friendly holiday rentals in Macon County

This was a last minute rental, our original plan fell through. Tanea responded almost immediately to our request and even gave us the option of checking in a bit early. We were looking for somewhere quiet with a view to sit outside and enjoy … that’s just what we found. The mountain view from the porch was beautiful and the grounds were well kept with a lovely flower garden. The place was clean and well equipped with what we needed for cooking and resting. Bed was comfortable and, importantly, the bath was clean and neat.

This makes our second time staying at Amanda’s place. It has been such an ideal spot for my family while visiting our kids at WCU. I truly can’t say enough. If you’re looking for a peaceful, beautiful neighborhood look no further! We love it!

My family and I loved this home at Lake Glenville! It had everything we needed. The views were incredible, and we really enjoyed kayaking, canoeing, riding the pedal boat, building campfires, and relaxing in the hot tub. We booked a boat tour with Lake Glenville Scenic Waterfall Cruises with Captain Mark. We saw a bald Eagle and the baby’s nest. We would gladly stay here again and hope to come in the fall sometime to see the foliage. I didn’t want to leave. Happ’s Place restaurant was great, and we enjoyed the shops in Cashiers and downtown Highlands, as well as hiking to a few waterfalls.

Absolutely wonderful! It was just my husband and I, but this place would be awesome for families or several couples. Lots of room, fun games, well stocked. The views are incredible - so peaceful and relaxing while staring at the mountains and the lake. Highly recommend!

Jack and Sylvia made us feel truly at home. Their place is comfy and has everything we needed. Best of all, our pups enjoyed the back yard and little stream. It's nice to be able to live like we do at home while away. We enjoyed the hiking and The Slanted Window with great food and live music.

Very peaceful and secluded, cozy cabin with beautiful views! It has everything you would need to spend time with your family and friends. Diana provides pretty detailed instructions how to get there - just follow them, look for the signs with a street name, and you’ll get there. I would recommend going there in 4x4 with a descent clearance. Another Airbnb gem in my favorites!

this was a beautiful home! we loved the area, we stayed here while we went to polar express, which was only about a 30-40 minute drive. They had so many great little amenities which make a big difference, like having hair bows, q-tips, a first aid box which came in handy with the kids. There was plenty of room for everyone. The host was very responsive and very helpful when it came to check-in and check-out. we definitely plan to book again.

We absolutely loved our stay! We went with kids and adults and saw waterfall, ate the best food downtown and enjoyed the cozy atmosphere of the cabin. Would recommend to anyone visiting. Incredible hosts too! John Mitchell

Our family has stayed here several times to be close to WCU. The only issue on this last visit was cell service was so poor we could not make any calls. Internet is always good in the unit.

Such a beautiful and comfortable home! Very charming and the neighborhood was great. Access to fishing and trails. Communication was excellent!!! Highly recommend!

Our stay at the cabin was absolutely perfect! The cabin itself was gorgeous—spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and fully stocked with everything we needed. It was the ideal spot for our family to spend the holidays. The surrounding towns were charming and full of amazing places to visit. We especially loved exploring the nearby waterfalls and hiking trails, which added so much adventure and beauty to our trip. This getaway was everything we hoped for and more. We can’t wait to return!

Wonderful! The original place we booked was canceled due to frozen pipes, leaving us without a place to stay. Thankfully, we found this place and could not have been happier! Beautiful views, great deck, and overall a wonderful space! Also, Stewart was very responsive and helpful. Highly recommend!

We’ve been coming to this part of NC for years and years and have stayed at lots of vacation rentals, this one is top of our list. It was well appointed, cozy, and met our expectations. We travel with young children and it was a safe space for them and the sound was well insulated during bed time- which is a big deal. We had everything we needed. Would definitely return!

Mary Jo and Lina’s place was perfect for our family! It had so many kid friendly accommodations and was well kept and just a short walk to shops and restaurants! We loved our stay!

Katelyn’s place was great! Great proximity to town- loved the outdoor space. It was perfect for our stay! Katelyn was super quick to respond to messages and overall super helpful! Highly recommend.

This was a great place for a small crowd. They were flexible with my check-in and check-out. Definitely will use again, a great couples place or someone with an older child. It being smaller might not work for active young children. The owners let my kids pet their ducks! It was a great stay :)

This is a basic but nice, quiet and scenic cabin that fits our needs. The new high speed internet is a real plus. Thank you!

A perfect spot to relax! We couldn’t have found a cozier place to enjoy a little R & R over Thanksgiving week. The dogs loved the private yard and the humans loved the stream and firepit area. So close to Cashiers made this convenient too. A great find in an area we love.

Silvia's tiny home was amazing. It was so "homey" from the moment we walked in. She put so many amenities in this small space. And it didn't feel crowded at all. She thought of EVERY. SINGLE. DETAIL! The home was spotless! And the bedding was so comfy. I'll definitely stay there again when we visit WCU.

I can't say enough about how special this home is. It is just what you want a mountain house to be, warm and cozy. The kitchen had everything we needed and some extras such as beautiful china that was available to use. We enjoyed the wrap around porch so much. It is the perfect spot for relaxing, reading or napping! This is a great find in a perfect location close to town. I want to visit again thanks to Laura for making the process so easy.

We couldn’t have had a better host than Nicholas. We had first scheduled our stay for a different weekend, but Hurricane Helene caused us to have to cancel. Nicholas was indeed proactive as he was watching the weather forecast along with us & completely understood our circumstances. As he had been so gracious we were happy to book this rental again for the redo of our reason for being in Highlands. Once again Nicholas was readily available in meeting all of our needs. The house was spacious, cozy & comfortable. And the drive into town was a brief straight shot. Thanks Nicholas! It was great!

Chris was very nice and communicative during our stay. My partner loved the place and so did I, especially the hot tub. Would highly recommend as a place to stay if you are in the area looking to check out what’s there. The waterfalls are beautiful!
