We are a luxury bed & breakfast throughout the year, but please reach out for available dates, if you are interested in exclusive use. A 16th Century authentic Scottish castle escape, nestled in the ancient landscape of Kilmartin Glen with 8,000 years of history to explore right on your door step. Standing stones, ancient forts, burial tombs, and ancient rock carvings make our wee Glen one of Scotland’s richest concentration of archeological sites. A true slice of genuine unspoiled Scotland.
“This was a bucket list experience for us and Kilmartin Castle did not disappoint! The space is absolutely fantastic, with attention to detail taken from top to bottom. Our goal was to find a castle that had not been so modernized inside so that we could savour the historical elements (from the stone walls to the “murder hole” windows). This was exactly that!! However, we very much appreciated the upgrades including the heated floors and luxe soaker tubs! Our heartbeats quickened as we entered through the heavy wooden front door where we were greeted by the aromas of Chef Ali’s dinner that was awaiting us! Walking through the stone hallway and up the spiral stone stairway...it just kept getting better!! It was everything we had hoped and much more!!! I don’t want to spoil the surprises about all the special touches made by Stef & Simon so I will simply say that these hosts are committed to delivering a world class travel experience. We loved learning more about the history of the building and flipping through the photo album that documented the evolution of the space over the years. We even had fun ‘locking’ the front door at night! We also made use of the bonnet and wellies while we navigated the unpredictability of the Scottish weather :) The town is so great too! We visited all the spots in and around the town (never once getting back in the car). The pub was awesome. The people were great. Seeing 4000+ yr old burial cairns was a unique experience for us. The trails are magnificent! I went for a run through the hillsides and unexpectedly came across ancient ruins and rock art...it’s that kind of area! When I suggested to the group that we visit the museum, they asked why we would go to a museum when we were living in one!?! Good point. But honestly, the museum and cafe were also so great! As so many others have written in their reviews, if you can make this experience happen for yourself...DO IT! We love to travel and experience the world. We love staying in luxury spaces that offer something unique that we can hold onto in our treasure trove of memories. Stef & Simon have delivered this on the grandest scale. Thank you for sharing a piece of Scotland and The Campbell Clan’s history with us. We will never forget it.”
'Skerryvore' is situated in a quiet residential area within walking distance of Oban town centre. Comfy and attractively renovated, our 3 bedroom house is an ideal base from which to enjoy the many delights of Oban and the surrounding area.
“Elaine was a wonderful host and her house had 3 rooms with 1 washroom. The living area had an excellent view of the mountains along with tv equipped with Netflix. The beds were comfy to sleep on and the kitchen has all the basic stuff incase you wish to cook stuff. Groceries shop like Tesco and lidl are 5 minutes drive and the ferry port is about the same. I had forgotten my ticket prints for the isle of mull ferry and Elaine came to the rescue by getting the prints late at night. I am very grateful for that and she totally deserves 5/5 on all fronts. Thank you so much for having us!”
If you like whisky, you'll love staying at The Distiller's Den! Even if Scotch isn't your favourite tipple, The Den offers superb comfortable and tranquil accommodation right in the heart of Oban. It overlooks the famous Oban Distillery, 1 street away. Oban is a perfect town for a couple of days stay with lots to do or just to relax and enjoy the seafood, sunsets and whisky.
“We, a family of four from Geneva, enjoyed very much our stay at Fiona's place, very nicely set up, quiet and clean. Fiona was very reactive in terms of communication and very kindly organized an extra air bed for our son. The apartment is at walking distance from everything Oban has to offer, and the distillery in particular.”
