“I happened to arrive at the right time to catch Merlin, who was very welcoming and friendly. The bothy was easy to find as the sun was setting and would be easy to find in the dark too! The instructions left in the bothy were clear and helpful and I soon had a lovely warm fire going in the stove. The bed space is cosy and gets the best of the heat, seats are comfy and there were plenty of thoughtful extras without there being "too much". The woodland itself is very well managed and fun to explore, with birdsong all day long.”

“This was a great stopover on the way to the Highlands. Leadhills has interesting history although it is remote so bring what you need, local shops are a drive away. Cottage is small but very clean and kitchen well stocked. Dog walking on the moors nearby. It was very warm and cozy despite cold weather.”

“Really nice cottage and very well equipped with everything we would need for any length of stay. Good general use of space - felt very roomy inside and the bed was huge, which made it extra comfortable for sleeping. Was great to be able to get the fire going on the cold winter's night we stayed. Would definitely like to stay again next time we visit Dumfries and Galloway.”
