Quietly nestling in the gentle rolling countryside this spacious and private cottage has everything from beautiful open views to total privacy, acres of space to little private corners. It has been lovingly and thoughtfully restored to a very high standard to meet the modern holiday maker’s requirements without losing its charm or character. Many original features have been retained incl. oak beams (some low), a Charantaise fireplace, original stone sink and smoking oven.
“We are a family with 3 kids aged 3 to 10 and we stayed at Anna’s house with our parents (who are in their 70s). The all thought the house, location and facilities were absolutely fabulous and perfect for a family holiday spanning 3 generations. Anna’s communication before we arrived was prompt and really helpful - eg checking whether our youngest needed a bed guard and warning us of the likelihood of bad traffic on the day of our arrival. She gave us a great welcome on arrival, showing us around and explaining where things were / how things worked etc. The pots of homemade jam and bottle of Pineau Anna left for us were an added bonus and much appreciated. Anna and her husband have renovated the house beautifully and very thoughtfully indeed, it has clearly been a labour of love and we reaped the benefits! Our expectations were high based on the listing and photos but we all felt the house exceeded our expectations. We loved both the spaciousness and comfort of the house and the tasteful decor. The lounge was really comfortable and a cosy space to retreat to when we wanted to escape the heat of the day or to play cards in the evening when it got cooler. The kitchen was well equipped and we appreciated the dishwasher, coffee machine, blender, washing machine - and also the laundry basket, clothes drying rack - which all made life easy. There were also lots of kids games and books in the house which we really appreciated and made good use of, and as noted above Anna had thought a lot about what a family with smaller children would need to make their stay safe and easy - from stair gates and bed guards to a plastic skittles set and toy lawnmower which our 3 year old loved. As befits a holiday in France in August, we spent most of our time in the beautiful garden/grounds. The pool was fantastic, a great size and in a very beautiful setting, surrounded by old stone walls and lavender, with loads of sun loungers around the pool, tables and chairs under the shaded pool veranda, and various small pool toys/balls etc were provided which the kids enjoyed. We all made a lot of use of the ping pong table, badminton net / court and (for the kids) the trampoline - and we all felt our skills improved over the week as a result!. We also enjoyed the fabulous views from the pétanque court. We loved the fact that there were lots of different places to sit outside - the main courtyard with its two tables and brick BBQ was ideal for eating our meals, the terrace off the kitchen perfect for morning coffee, plus there was a lovely shaded nook with bistro table and chairs in the main courtyard where you could escape the sun, and a swing seat where you could bask in it - all tastes catered for! We also enjoyed strolling down the field to the pond, seeing lots of birds of prey and picking plums from the many fruit trees. There was so much to keep us occupied at the house that we spent most of our time there, but we did enjoy a couple of trips out - to Angouleme and Aubeterre-Sur-Drone - and also really enjoyed seeing the rare twelfth century murals at a chapel a couple of km from the house. The countryside around the house is beautiful. Overall a fantastic house in a lovely area and Anna was a great host. We may well be back!”
Très belle maison , spacieuse , située dans un parc arboré de 18000m2 clôturé, proche des commerces( carrefour contact , station essence, autres commerces , maison médicale) . Notre maison est idéale pour les familles avec enfants et animaux. Calme et détente assuré.
“Very tentative and nice hosts, lovely house and location. Worth noting for British holiday makers - the translation of this listing into English misses vital information. We've rented as a family group large houses with pools in France and Portugal over the last 6 years (AirBNB and other sites). All included bedding, towels and cleaners on check out (we always left houses tidy). With this house, the English listing does not make the hosts expectations clear, namely 1) bedding and towels can be included for an additional charge (80 euros when we went) - we only found out three days before when owners texted, and 2) there is no cleaner at the end, you're expected to clean the house - not just tidy. best check additional cost or arrangements if you need to hire a cleaner. I believe we were the first British to rent this house and it was accepted that the 'terms' had not been clear, however they are nice and reasonable people and we reached a sensible conclusion.”
