Four and a half miles from the historic town of Ligonier, this home offers all you would need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. A labor of love, we built this home with hopes of someday retiring here to enjoy all the area has to offer. In the heart of the Laurel Highlands this home is close to golf courses, ski resorts, museums, theaters, restaurants, numerous State Parks with great hiking and biking, Idlewild and Soakzone, and Ligonier Camp and Conference Center.
“This was our second annual stay here with our friends (4 adults, 4 kids), and we continue to love this creekside getaway! The Finch House is no cabin: it's almost certainly nicer than your house at home. It's well-equipped with everything you might need, from board games and puzzles to a waffle maker and toaster oven, and it's decorated in a stylish and thoughtful way. Outside, there's a wonderful new patio and shady porch, and of course the creek, which our kids loved playing in. Given the pandemic we spent most of our time in and around the house and never felt bored. I'm so grateful to have such a nice space to visit, and hope to return next summer.”
Moonstone Manor, a 1930’s historic two bedroom retreat was completely renovated by an interior designer to reflect the charm and spirit of the “city family’s” summer home. On a choice acre of woodland property at the base of Laurel Mountain, furnished in a bohemian, rustic style where color richness, well-worn pieces and indulging in comfort is paramount. Choose Moonstone Manor because you want your vacation to be an experience ~ "casual elegance" distinct from everyday living.
“House: Like the other reviewers have said, sparkling clean, with all the amenities we needed in a gorgeous location! We spent a month there while finishing the school year, and we were able to be online working doing zoom meetings, and our daughters zoom classes at the same time, with no problem at all. If you like to cook, there is everything you could need even for baking :) And having the grill on the front porch was also such a nice thing to have! All the rooms are decorated beautifully and there are thoughtful and special touches throughout the house. You'll keep discovering awesome objects in the house until the day you leave. Over all, it was so nice to work having the woods around us with deer coming by the house. Location: We went to 4 different state parks, all within an hour of the house. Some of them as close as 30 minutes and you were by the water on a lake. The town is small but charming, and the big supermarket is less than 10 minutes driving from the house, and there's a Walmart and an Aldi in Latrobe, 25 minutes away. As you come into the main road, you'll find "The Pie Shop" where you can grab sandwiches, pastries, and some super delicious doughnuts! Also, if you like antiques, this is the place for you! So many stores filled with treasures, one of them belonging to Melinda, our host, called "Spirit." If it's open when you visit, don't miss it! it's really fun and beautiful. Host: Melinda is wonderful. She went above and beyond to make sure we felt at home and were comfortable. She also lives 2 houses down the road, which was very convenient whenever we had a question about the house, or needed help with something. She is also an interesting and fun person to talk to and get to know if you get the chance :) Thank you so much, Melinda, for a wonderful stay!”
Single story cozy contemporary cottage nestled on quiet road in the Laurel Highlands. Less than a mile to Ligonier Diamond and walking distance to Eastwood Inn. Just a few miles to both Laurel Mountain ski resort and Idlewild park. Boasts nice deck with view of gentle stream with walking bridge. One master bedroom with double bed plus bonus room with futon.
“John and Lori's cottage was very nice and cozy. We really enjoyed the rushing stream out front, and taking long walks in the neighborhood with our dog. There's great hikes nearby and really feels remote, while very close and convenient to smaller towns, and just an hour away from Pittsburgh. All in all, it's the perfect size for a couple. One note: if you're staying for a while, it should be noted that the bed is a bit uneven and led to a few uncomfortable nights' sleep for us.”
