Four and a half miles from the historic town of Ligonier, this home offers all you would need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. A labor of love, we built this home with hopes of someday retiring here to enjoy all the area has to offer. In the heart of the Laurel Highlands this home is close to golf courses, ski resorts, museums, theaters, restaurants, numerous State Parks with great hiking and biking, Idlewild and Soakzone, and Ligonier Camp and Conference Center.
“This was our second annual stay here with our friends (4 adults, 4 kids), and we continue to love this creekside getaway! The Finch House is no cabin: it's almost certainly nicer than your house at home. It's well-equipped with everything you might need, from board games and puzzles to a waffle maker and toaster oven, and it's decorated in a stylish and thoughtful way. Outside, there's a wonderful new patio and shady porch, and of course the creek, which our kids loved playing in. Given the pandemic we spent most of our time in and around the house and never felt bored. I'm so grateful to have such a nice space to visit, and hope to return next summer.”
Single story cozy contemporary cottage nestled on quiet road in the Laurel Highlands. Less than a mile to Ligonier Diamond and walking distance to Eastwood Inn. Just a few miles to both Laurel Mountain ski resort and Idlewild park. Boasts nice deck with view of gentle stream with walking bridge. One master bedroom with double bed plus bonus room with futon.
“John and Lori's cottage was very nice and cozy. We really enjoyed the rushing stream out front, and taking long walks in the neighborhood with our dog. There's great hikes nearby and really feels remote, while very close and convenient to smaller towns, and just an hour away from Pittsburgh. All in all, it's the perfect size for a couple. One note: if you're staying for a while, it should be noted that the bed is a bit uneven and led to a few uncomfortable nights' sleep for us.”
Our 5 room cottage is located on 3 acres with large yards and gardens front and back and woods in the rear of the property. the living room and bath have heated floors which guests love and a hot tub on the patio next to the cottage. We want to share what we enjoy every day.
“Quaint, quiet county side get away. Good value with personal touches. I was personally greeted by Shane, who wore a mask for safety during the pandemic. He showed me a personal tour of the place and walked me through some of the nuances, like the bathroom county plumbing and where extra pillows and blankets are. He also showed me how to use the hot tub but sadly the weather was too hot during my stay to use it but it was nice and clean. Its located in between his house and the cottage, which are right next to each other. And while the host respects your privacy, you will seem them around and some of the windows didn't have full curtains - so I used a blanket or towel to create more privacy. There is a cute seperate back yard with fire pit for guests use. A short fence divides it and you can do some nice bird watching. Shane has a couple dogs that were well behaved and didn't disturb us at all. And Shane's wife made a DELICIOUS banana bread for us and left it in the kitchen. There is a small "puzzle" room that had games and coloring books for us to play with. And the large screen TV and channel listing was easy to use. Wifi password was provided. Sometimes wifi was a but slower but since I was trying to have a romantic get away I didnt really need it. All in all it was a delightful stay and I would recommend to others.”
