Family-friendly holiday rentals in Lake Biwa

Thank you to this traditional old house for making our trip a pleasant experience and for the patience of the host.We are very satisfied with this trip, the construction of the homestay is very good, and the location is convenient!

Kosuke’s was a wonderful host! He was communicative, responsive, accommodating, and provided great instructions for locating the apartment and accessing it (which made it really easy to find on the little tucked away street). The apartment was clean, comfortable, spacious, and charming and felt like a very traditional Kyoto home, which we loved!! The location was absolutely ideal. It was so close to the Shijo metro stop (3 minute walk) and a very easy connection to Kyoto station and anywhere in Kyoto. In addition, many of the best sites are walking distance from the apartment: the Nishiki market is a 3 minute walk, Pontocho and Gion are less than 20 minutes, and the Yasaka shrine and Maruyama Park are only 25 minutes. And that’s only to name a few. There are also tons of great restaurants on the surrounding streets! It really could not be more ideally located. We loved our stay at Kosuke’s house and appreciated all of the thought and effort he puts into making his home welcoming!

One of top two AirBnBs we stayed in during two weeks in Japan. The house is so cute, the kitchen well stocked. There is a Western dining table with chairs, which was great, because we ordered in when we arrived late the first night. The beds are super comfortable and the garden lovely. Two toilets! Bikes a lovely addition! And it had the only dryer we saw in our time there! We were welcomed in person by our host who gave us a map, recommended nearby restaurants and bakeries, and even lent us a converter for our plug, which we had lost AND let us keep it at the end of the stay! We needed to ask him numerous questions and he always responded quickly with good and helpful information. AND, my daughter left a pair of necklaces she loved, and he is mailing it to the US for us! The Tom Sawyer bakery (open early!) made for a delicious breakfast every morning. Lovely quiet neighborhood that gives you an experience of a real Tokyo neighborhood, no tourists! Highly, highly recommend!

The house offers an authentic experience of a traditional Japanese home. Spacious, has spaces for guest room, living room, kitchen, bedroom, storage, dressing and a cute little backyard. Loved the bathroom amenities and enjoyed the bathing tub. The hosts were very kind and waited for us to arrive. They welcomed us in and walked us through all the amenities and operations in the house. They also showed us bus routes to all the popular Kyoto spots laid out on a map. They even provided a bike for our grocery runs etc. Everything we ended up needing was in the house, like umbrellas, full-length mirror, extra stools, washer-dryer. The backyard is smoking-friendly. Overall, very happy that we decided to stay at this property.

We had a great stay at this Airbnb! The property is beautifully maintained, and one of the highlights was the serene koi ponds that added a peaceful, relaxing vibe to the entire experience. The space is thoughtfully designed with great amenities — coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, oil, butter, cookware, multiple sinks and separate bathroom areas made it super convenient for our group of 6. It was easy for several people to get ready at the same time without feeling crowded. The owner also went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable, even bringing us air fresheners — such a thoughtful and responsive host. Overall, it’s a perfect spot for a group or anyone looking for a calm, well-equipped place to stay. Highly recommend!

My daughter and I are traveling together Your best choice to heal your itinerary It's far from the center, but it was a perfect choice for the price! The bathroom with a beautiful Japanese garden also feels like an outdoor shower and a large bath to relieve daily fatigue. It was clean and tidy, and there were various utensils, so I was able to stay comfortably. The best except for the street! I didn't have a hard time using Uber Taxi. The price was also a little more expensive than the price of Seoul Taxi, so it was okay. I'd like to try this place or your other listings again next time. I also recommend it to large families! I'm a dot next time.

A very comfortable and quiet area, conveniently close to Kyoto Station. If you don’t have too much luggage, it’s just a 15-minute walk—or one stop by train. Great value for money, very cozy. Highly recommended!

We had an amazing stay at this Kyoto Airbnb! The place was spotless, beautifully designed, and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing visit. The location was incredibly convenient—close to both train and bus stations, which made getting around Kyoto really easy. Our host was responsive and thoughtful, with clear instructions and helpful local tips. The quiet neighbourhood made it a perfect place to unwind after a busy day. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kyoto—we’d love to stay here again next time!

Gorgeous house for a family trip ! - Clean, spacious, felt like home immediately - The location is THE best IMHO. Easy to access subway, Eizan line and mt. Hiei is nearby - 7-11 is 20 sec walk! + river To sum up - for me it’s the best place to stay in Kyoto.

The host and the house are amazing!The host's wife is very nice, very attentive and patient in communication and guidance before and after check-in, and very caring for us!On the day of check-in, he also came to the station to pick us up to the residence, and introduced us to the surrounding environment and configuration all the way.Although the residence may be a bit far from popular attractions, the house is great!I believe that the moment you enter the house, you will feel that it is extremely worthwhile!Two days is not enough to experience the goodness of this home and the style of Osaka. I hope to have the opportunity to return to this home in the future!

We had a wonderful stay at the Cozy Cottage. The house was very clean and spacious. For us, the best part was the location. It truly felt like we were locals living in the community where Cozy Cottage is located. All of the staff were also very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time, and the stay definitely made our time in Kyoto extra special. I would recommend this stay to anyone looking for a bit of a slower pace in Kyoto.

Nice house in a quiet neighborhood. Location gives fantastic access to the city through the Green Line (Karasuma). Easy to access from Kyoto Station shinkansen. Less than ten minute walk to the Aeon Mall. All facilities in working order. The washing machine is very useful in extending the usefulness of your carried clothing.

We loved our stay at Yamano’s place. The neighborhood was beautiful and quiet, but it was just a short walk to the river, bus stop, and train station. The hosts were extremely responsive and kind. They met us at check in to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. They also sent suggestions for restaurants and things to do in the area.

This house is lovely awesome and perfectly clean. Our stay was wonderful and more worth the price. The private onsen inside the tiny Japanese garden is beautiful. The location is very quiet, near the river and less 5 minutes by walk from the station and konbini. Everything you need is provided inside the house, so you don’t have to worry about

The place was so beautiful and very close to many restaurants and convenience stores. We were able to stay in or go out with ease. Our host was very friendly and easy to communicate with. Would recommend to anyone, and we all hope to come back in the future!

what a gem i was able to find! instructions were so clear and host was quick to respond. The area was amazing, there's a lovely bakery that I was obsessed with near by as well. close to the station so vetting there was easy. The place was so beautiful as well, very old school but made you feel right at home. Would definetly recommend 👌🏽

Beautiful. Felt at home

We had a pleasant stay in Kyoto. The place was photo compliant, clean and in a good location. The instruction to retrieve the keys deserves to be clarified (it was indicated to turn one way, when we had to do the opposite), but fortunately, a very nice person at the reception helped us. After we left, I thought I had left an item in the apartment: the host was very responsive and helped me quickly, which I enjoyed very much. Thank you again!

A great spot in Osaka! I was only here for one night but the space would be great for someone staying long term. Host lives/works in the building so he can help with luggage if you get in early or have any issues. Stocked kitchen and large fridge and amenities! Great value!

This was by far our favorite place to stay in all of Japan! The traditional style of the home was an amazing experience. I will never get over this airbnb! Not far from the bus and had amazing views of the temple! 😇😇😇

Mitsuo was an amazing host, picked us up and dropped us to the airport. Recommended alot of spots to see around Kyoto. Convenient location quick 10 minute or so walk to JR train station and 3 min to bus. Nice quiet neighbourhood, older house but has the traditional Japanese charm. Very comfortable futon, tatami mats and very cool traditional sit down table. Thank you for our stay!

Kazuma’s house was really spacious and beautifully traditional. The location is very close to a train station and neighbourhood has a lot of great places, that Kazuma recommended. We absolutely enjoyed our stay and would come back! :)

Its a perfect little spot in a great bieghborhood! The hosts are lovely!!! Theres not much of a kitchen so eating out better from here. No living room either .. but lovely outdoor space .. fantastic shower!!! Quiet great air conditioning and close to everything !!! Hists are so great!!! We will definately return!!!!
