An old private house surrounded by rivers and forests, limited to one group per day. Here, you can enjoy your stay, surrounded by sound, fire, water and stars. The music room has a grand piano, drums, guitar, and bass. During the pizza oven experience (separate fee), you’ll bake authentic Neapolitan pizza, and in the evening, you’ll enjoy a BBQ and sit around a campfire while gazing at the starry sky and the Milky Way. In summer, you can play in the nearby river and unwind in nature with a tent sauna (additional charge). We can all cook together in the fully equipped kitchen of the former café, read quietly in the reading room, You can spend your "favourite time" freely. The bath is a ceramic tub made of Shigaraki ware. Relax your mind and body while wrapped in the warmth of a fire burning with firewood and the scent of cypress. Spend time in your own place, not in a hotel, where no one will disturb you. Enjoy your time here. Transport to and from the nearest station is also available. Just to let you know, there are a few options available. This is a guest house in a 120-year-old house that was renovated with the concept of "nostalgic and new" in a town of Omi Hino merchants overlooking Mt. Mimaki in the Suzuka Mountains of Shiga Prefecture. Hino-cho's townscape is also nostalgic and heartwarming, In the corner of such a town, "Mt. Moiwa Village" was born in the first year of the Reiwa Dynasty. The accommodation is limited to one group. Storage site: The Western-style room can be used by 3 people, with 2 beds and 1 folding bed, and the Japanese-style room can accommodate 3 people with Japanese futons, for a total of up to 6 people. It features a Shigaraki stoneware bathtub (120 cm diameter) that only guests can use, where you can bathe with your family and children. The furniture is all "Calimok" furniture from the Hida industry, made from the Taisho to the early Showa period. Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts. To ensure you enjoy the stay to the fullest, I set check-in and check-out time to both 12:00 Noon. So you can stay up for 24 hours with one night booking. YAMANOTE HOUSE is accessible from major Kansai stations with 37min from Kyoto Sta. or 65min from Osaka Sta. If you come by car from Kyoto it takes less than 1 hour. The area aournd the house is once small castle town. The house is located next to the Shrine, Hiyoshi-Jinja, where the Omizo Festival is held on May 3 and 4 every year.
