You don't often come across a place like this on Airbnb. The more than 130-year-old log cabin in the cultural heritage landscape of Suvanto takes its residents on a time travel to a 19th century village in the far north of Finland. The property is best suited for a friend of Lapland's nature, history and silence, who is not afraid of the dark in winter or mosquitoes in summer. Please note: there is no public transportation to the village, no toilet in the main building, nor a shower. There is a separate sauna building outside and a traditional outhouse behind the sauna.

The price of the accommodation includes the use of a sleeping barn, a separate kitchen cabin, a sauna and an outdoor toilet. The cottage is located 12 km from the center of Kemijärvi. The log cabin has beds for two. Electricity + heating. Well-equipped kitchen. No running water. The hosts take care of the drinking water in the kitchen. Fireplace. Washing in the sauna, the use of the sauna is agreed with the hosts. The hosts use the other buildings on the premises.

The beautiful surroundings offer wonderful outdoor opportunities - the ski trail to the nearby hills starts from the yard, the adjacent lake allows ice fishing, in the summer you can hike and pick berries in the nearby hills, a rowing boat is waiting on the school beach. Enjoy the ease of life in this quiet, centrally located place. Pyhätunturi, Finland's oldest national park and ski resort, is 19 minutes away (PYHÄ). It is really suitable for a family with children. The world's cleanest air can be breathed and at the same time you can sit on reindeer antlers in the yard and watch the special northern lights that may be visible in the sky. The outdoor fireplace is about 100 m away, where you can fry sausages and marshmallows, for example. Sauna on the property.

Holiday home in Kemijärvi, southern Lapland

Our holiday home is situated in Kemijärvi 85 kms/ 53 miles north-east from Rovaniemi. Nice peaceful 71 m2 apartment close to the nature. You can rest hiking, biking, skiing, swimming, picking berries or mushrooms - whatever you like. Kemijärvi is a town of 6000 inhabitants in the middle of two lakes just above the polar circle. Sauna. There are good trails for crosscountry skiing almost from our front door. The distances to the downhill skiing areas: 45 kms to Suomu and 53 kms to Pyhä.

Private island and small cabin

1ha Private island, small cabin and lakeside sauna. Beds for 4-6. Gas stove, 2x fireplace. One separate bedroom and in the living room there's two sofas suitable for sleeping. Electricity comes from the sun and, if necessary, from generator. Outdoor sauna (no shower) and outhouse (no WC). Water from well. You can swim directly from the sauna at your own small sandy beach, or you can even splash into the water from the pier. Access to island by boat takes about 6 minutes.
