Chie & Chris's place is located in a tiny, very quiet alley in the heart of Gion. There are several temples & shrines located within walking distance, & we found incredible restaurants nearby. They gave us clear instructions on what to tell the cab driver to get there, & self check-in was easy. The accomodations were pristinely clean. The master bedroom with a large Western style bed is upstairs, & the steps are steep which was no issue for us at all but might be for elderly, injured, or handicapped folks. My 6'5" husband had to be careful to duck under door frames because of his height but staying in a historic machiya was worth the small effort. Our 14-year-old son slept on a futon on the main level & loved it. Communication was excellent, & they gave us numerous recommendations for restaurants. There is a Lawson konbini & a grocery store close by, as well as a quaint bar across the alley. We loved being within walking distance of the action coupled with the quietness of the night.

We really enjoyed sharing each others stories, she also made us feel right at home. The place was clean, cozy, and comfortable. It was a wonderful experience in Osaka, and we hope to come back again next time!

Kosuke’s was a wonderful host! He was communicative, responsive, accommodating, and provided great instructions for locating the apartment and accessing it (which made it really easy to find on the little tucked away street). The apartment was clean, comfortable, spacious, and charming and felt like a very traditional Kyoto home, which we loved!! The location was absolutely ideal. It was so close to the Shijo metro stop (3 minute walk) and a very easy connection to Kyoto station and anywhere in Kyoto. In addition, many of the best sites are walking distance from the apartment: the Nishiki market is a 3 minute walk, Pontocho and Gion are less than 20 minutes, and the Yasaka shrine and Maruyama Park are only 25 minutes. And that’s only to name a few. There are also tons of great restaurants on the surrounding streets! It really could not be more ideally located. We loved our stay at Kosuke’s house and appreciated all of the thought and effort he puts into making his home welcoming!

One of top two AirBnBs we stayed in during two weeks in Japan. The house is so cute, the kitchen well stocked. There is a Western dining table with chairs, which was great, because we ordered in when we arrived late the first night. The beds are super comfortable and the garden lovely. Two toilets! Bikes a lovely addition! And it had the only dryer we saw in our time there! We were welcomed in person by our host who gave us a map, recommended nearby restaurants and bakeries, and even lent us a converter for our plug, which we had lost AND let us keep it at the end of the stay! We needed to ask him numerous questions and he always responded quickly with good and helpful information. AND, my daughter left a pair of necklaces she loved, and he is mailing it to the US for us! The Tom Sawyer bakery (open early!) made for a delicious breakfast every morning. Lovely quiet neighborhood that gives you an experience of a real Tokyo neighborhood, no tourists! Highly, highly recommend!

We had a great stay at this Airbnb! The property is beautifully maintained, and one of the highlights was the serene koi ponds that added a peaceful, relaxing vibe to the entire experience. The space is thoughtfully designed with great amenities — coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, oil, butter, cookware, multiple sinks and separate bathroom areas made it super convenient for our group of 6. It was easy for several people to get ready at the same time without feeling crowded. The owner also went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable, even bringing us air fresheners — such a thoughtful and responsive host. Overall, it’s a perfect spot for a group or anyone looking for a calm, well-equipped place to stay. Highly recommend!

A very comfortable and quiet area, conveniently close to Kyoto Station. If you don’t have too much luggage, it’s just a 15-minute walk—or one stop by train. Great value for money, very cozy. Highly recommended!

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour !! La maison est exceptionnelle, encore plus belle que sur les photos. Immersion japonaise garantie. Et l’hôte a vraiment été géniale et très très gentille. Merci beaucoup pour ce super séjour d’une semaine !

We had a wonderful stay at the Cozy Cottage. The house was very clean and spacious. For us, the best part was the location. It truly felt like we were locals living in the community where Cozy Cottage is located. All of the staff were also very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time, and the stay definitely made our time in Kyoto extra special. I would recommend this stay to anyone looking for a bit of a slower pace in Kyoto.

Nice house in a quiet neighborhood. Location gives fantastic access to the city through the Green Line (Karasuma). Easy to access from Kyoto Station shinkansen. Less than ten minute walk to the Aeon Mall. All facilities in working order. The washing machine is very useful in extending the usefulness of your carried clothing.

We loved our stay at Yamano’s place. The neighborhood was beautiful and quiet, but it was just a short walk to the river, bus stop, and train station. The hosts were extremely responsive and kind. They met us at check in to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. They also sent suggestions for restaurants and things to do in the area.

The hosts Tatsuro-san was incredibly responsive and helpful, even when I needed help with a delivery! The place is as described, clean, wonderful amenities with sufficient space for my family of 5. Everything was well-explained by Tatsuro-san. It's a pity I could not stay longer as we were returning but I would definitely choose to stay again! The place is located in a very nice, quiet neighborhood with plenty of convenient spots to purchase what you need. It is also within short distance of a train station. The other hosts, Ichiro-san & Eiko-san were also very friendly & hospitable. Sending us off on our last day of check-out with an omiyage too! I look forward to my next trip to Osaka and staying here once again!

This house is lovely awesome and perfectly clean. Our stay was wonderful and more worth the price. The private onsen inside the tiny Japanese garden is beautiful. The location is very quiet, near the river and less 5 minutes by walk from the station and konbini. Everything you need is provided inside the house, so you don’t have to worry about

Das Ryokan ist wunderschön, typisch japanisch und passend für unsere Reise mit der großen Familie. Wir haben die schönen Schiebetüren, den typischen Boden, die großen Fenstertüren und ganz besonders den unglaublich wunderbaren japanischen Garten jeden Tag bewundert.

Sehr sauber und gepflegt. Es wurde wirklich an alles gedacht. Es hatte sogar Adapter für die Steckdosen, man muss nicht mal seinen eigenen mitnehmen (trotzdem empfehle ich es nur für den Fall). Für den Preis zu gut in meinen Augen. Gastgeberin ist sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich, hat wirklich Spass gemacht. Auch die Küche war top ausgestattet mit Geschirr und sogar Schere etc. Kann ich nur empfehlen!

This is a magical place! Beautiful surroundings and off the beaten path. This is a great place to relax from the hustle and bustle of the city. There’s great restaurants seconds away, my kids played in the lovely river, and the house was immaculate. We would love to come back! FYI stairs are steep to the sleeping area but wasn’t a big deal for us as our children are older. The host was so accommodating! She let us check out late. Thank you!!

虽然离中央区有一段距离，但我觉得比住在中央区好很多！对面是罗森，再走过一个红绿灯就是7-11，距离千船站步行10分钟以内，千船站有家规模不错的超市，过了19:00有很多折扣。民宿内麻雀虽小五脏俱全，基础家电都有，还有烘干机，烤箱，直饮机。缺点就是因为在二楼所以需要上下楼，楼梯有点陡；另外因为临街，晚上睡觉会有车经过，隔音效果欠佳。总而言之，房间非常舒适且具有性价比。房东很友好，很不错～

Natsuko is a very kind and helpful host. She made sure we feel comfortable at her place. She even pick us up at the subway station to show us the way to her place and tell us about the neighbourhood especially where the good restaurants are. The place is the same as advertised. It is clean and very cozy. I’m happy that I finally get to stay in a tatami house without spending that much. We got everything we need in there. Location wise, the Midosuji line is a few minutes walk and there are 711 and Lawson nearby. The JR line is also close by which is a very big help on our way to the airport. I got two luggages (one is a big one) which made me worry a lot. Thankfully, the nearby JR line has elevators which made it convenient for us (no need to take stairs like when we were in Tokyo) and we didn’t need to transfer to another line, we just stayed in the same platform to get into another train bound for the airport. It was a very smooth and convenient trip to the airport.

I wish I could’ve stayed longer ! Everything was perfect during my stay, it’s a very peaceful and quiet place, and we’re not too far from the center of Kyoto It was my first time sleeping on a futon and this is honestly very comfortable ! I’ve got welcomed by Mrs. T (I don’t know if I’m allowed to say her name in the review), she was so sweet and kind, she showed me some food recommendations, and brought my breakfast in the morning Thank you so much again for having me, and I hope to come back soon ! ☺️

Reminded me of the first house I lived in in Japan: tatami floors, wooden fixtures, sliding doors... I felt like I was visiting a friend's grandmother's house! Must have been the smell of the wood. Spacious enough for a travel group to have private space as well as communal space. It's a bit of a hike from the train station but still walkable. Quaint, quiet residential neighborhood. Incredible value. Would definitely stay again.

Super cool house with tatami flooring but beds are extremely comfortable. You feel like you are living in history. It has all the modern comforts. AC heating etc. close to Kyoto station. Lots of taxis around. Host is super kid too. Have great recommendations on restaurants Would stay again.

We had a very nice time staying at this place. Great location, all amenities that you need. Keiko is an amazing host, always responsive and proactive. We will recommend this apartment to all our friends travelling to Osaka.
