Beachfront holiday rental in Kehena Black Sand Beach

We absolutely loved our stay! The house is conveniently located right next to black sand beach which we took advantage of morning walks to watch the sunrise. The house had beautiful views of the ocean, the folding doors along the balconies allowed for a great ocean breeze to flow through the house. We loved using the swim spa during the evenings when it cooled down. It was the perfect way to spend the end of our Big Island vacation, allowing us to slow down and really enjoy the beauty of Hawaii. Aaron was also very accommodating and quick to respond. Looking forward to staying here again on our next trip!

Greg and Howard were extremely gracious and considerate hosts who gave us amazing recommendations and a tour of the space when we arrived. The venue is a true oasis with ocean views from the outdoor shower / bath house and pool; the outdoor cabana and kitchen were incredible and we used it every night! The location is scenic and about an hour from Hilo airport. We loved how warm and tropical that part of the island was and it was a good place to start and end each day as we traveled to different spots on that side of the island. The unit has a ton of amenities including a cabinet of extra toiletries and a kitchen well stocked with condiments and herbs from previous guests for anything you may need to do basic cooking. The kitchen itself was fully provisioned as well. It was so easy to cook there and was wonderful to have a Keurig and French press for the mornings. The entire property is gorgeous and serene- BOOK IT YOU WONT REGRET IT!!

One of the nicest places I’ve ever stayed. Janice was so kind and communicated great with us. The view is even better in person and the house was bigger in person too! Everything pictured is better than you can imagine. We saw turtles from the cliff every day! Hot tub was fun and so were the games. Neighborhood was great for walks and everyone is so friendly. We did not want to leave!

What a lovely find! Secluded, safe, spacious, gorgeous surroundings. We would’ve loved to have spent more time here. Kate was a very responsive host and made us feel right at home. Mahalo!

THE VIEW!! WOW!!! And the space - small, but all we needed. Booked only one bedroom and it worked out great. At first, we were concerned we were 40 mins drive from family in Hilo, but it ended up being a blessing! The sun was shining at Robyn's, while we watched the rain clouds over Hilo. Robyn is an awesome host - she answered questions quickly and made great suggestions.If she tells you the volcano is erupting, get in the car and immediately drive down to the park. And why do I say this? We lingered, being lazy on the deck with the amazing view and missed seeing the volcano erupting by 30 minutes 😔.Oh well, guess we will have to book another stay!

Susan's place in Kea'au is beautiful, convenient to Hilo and Volcano National Park, yet right on the ocean. Surrounded by the sights, sounds and smells of the ocean make this a great place to get away from the city.

Paradise Waits in Pāhoa truly is a unique and special place. The grounds are lovely and private and we enjoyed both the pool and hot tub. Suzie was very responsive and made recommendations for restaurants which we enjoyed. It is as stated in the write up, outdoorsy and tropical - remote and very relaxing. We enjoyed breakfast at the surfboard bar in the kitchen and dinner in the dining area. This was our first stay on this side of the island and it was a fun adventure. And, if you enjoy stargazing- it’s spectacular!

My family and I planned a trip "home" for our father who was born and raised in Hilo. We wanted to make it extra special where we could be together and get some rest and relaxation. I have to say, we were so grateful to have found this home! Our group consisted of 6 adults and 2 children. We all had ample space to spread out and we each had plenty of privacy. We prepared breakfast/lunch and snacks at the house which has a good size kitchen and went to Hilo for dinner each night. Hilo is an easy 20–30-minute drive from Keeau. The house was very clean and well stocked with paper goods, linens, etc. They do a good job maintaining the exterior which I know can be tough given the proximity to the water. We were able to watch the sunrise each morning from the deck! Any issue that popped up was immediately addressed and resolved by the management team. The trip was so special that we are going to make it annual, and we all look forward to returning to Mika Kai again!

View from the Lanai is amazing! We often saw whales and when we walked out to the water, we could watch sea turtles in the surf. House was very clean and comfortable. Beds were very comfortable also. Kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed to prepare meals. We had an outstanding time! Would definitely stay again!

Sonja and Alex are exemplary Airbnb hosts! They are thoughtful and attentive. We could not have asked for more! If you are going to the Big Island, do yourself a favor and stay in this beautiful oasis. My husband and I had an amazing time, Sonja and Alex left chocolates and fresh island fruits in our space and made us feel 100% at home. Future visits to Hawaii (big island) will be spent here. Beautiful home with stunning views. It had everything that my family of 5 needed for our Hawaii stay. We enjoyed the proximity to Volcanoes National Park, Hilo beaches, waterfalls, and the farmer's market. I highly recommend and would stay here again in the future.

This stay way absolutely wonderful. Such a beautiful and peaceful location. We really enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and fell asleep nightly to the soothing jungle sounds. The host was extremely accommodating and made sure everything was perfect for our stay. This has been my favorite Airbnb stay by far! I will definitely be staying here again if I ever make it back to the islands !

This was probably one of the nicest, most idyllic places I've ever stayed in. The accommodation is absolutely beautiful, so thoughtfully put together, super clean and luxurious, and you instantly feel welcome and at home. The beautiful lakai (patio) overlooks a lucious paradise of a garden, you wake up in the most comfortable bed to the sounds of exotic birds and a view of the sky and the trees through the windows, the "outside/inside" shower makes you feel like you're in the trees while enjoying maximum privacy, cute geckos pay you a visit on the lakai or in the little meditation/yoga studio in the garden, the night sounds of frogs and the stars you can see from bed.. paradise! Not to mention the perfectly equipped kitchen (oils, spices, coffee, tea etc.) and bathroom (the fluffiest towels, and the guest toothpaste saved our first night/morning there), two comfy robes, books, a lovely welcome basket, you name it. If I'm ever back on Big Island, I will definitely stay here again!

Beautiful house across the toad from Kehena Beach. The rooms were beautiful and the bathrooms were immaculate. Kitchens were stocked with dishes, glasses and utensils and much more. Loved sitting on the lanai. Beautiful view of the ocean. Walking distance to the drum circle on the lawn. Just a fantastic stay!

We had an amazing stay at this truly unique home! Built in Bali and shipped to Hawaii, the house is a masterpiece of wood craftsmanship, blending traditional Balinese architecture with the natural beauty of its surroundings. The atmosphere was both peaceful and inspiring, with plenty of space to relax and take in the stunning private environment. First time on the big island and this location will hold a special place. The neighborhood of Pahoa offers a perfect peaceful retreat to enjoy the peace and culture of the big island. With this airbnb being located walking distance to many great overlooks to enjoy a beautiful sunrise. Richard is a great host who was able to answer questions not only about to location but also giving great insight on local attractions as well.
